The use of mobile phone devices leaves digital traces which include personal data of the user's location and can be used to produce aggregated and anonymised location data. There is widespread interest in utilising different types of mobile phone location data to optimise emergency health responses within a range of settings, however until now there has been no qualitative research exploring public opinions on sharing such data. A qualitative study with 40 millennials (born between 1981–2000) across six focus groups were conducted before and after widespread news reports about the leaking of personal data on social media and a major public health incident in the UK. Thematic analysis was used to identify themes in the data. Analysis identified four main themes and five subthemes suggesting the main concepts related to attitudes and concerns were 'Control', 'Trust', 'Risks to sharing' and 'Pros and cons of data sharing'. Millennials were generally accepting of sharing different types of location data with ambulance services and a public health agency if they were able to give explicit consent and retain some personal control towards how their data would be used. The results suggest that policymakers who wish to use aggregated and anonymized mobile phone location data to improve healthcare services should focus on reassurance about how data will be used and promoting public trust. Rationale and Key Points: This article explains how to prepare and administer an intravenous (IV) infusion using a gravity administration (giving) set or a volumetric pump in a safe, effective manner. Nurses undertaking this procedure must ensure they have the knowledge and skills to do so and work within the limits of their competence. This article serves as a revision of best practice in administering IV infusions of fluids and medicines. • IV infusions are delivered directly into the bloodstream, so care must be taken to protect the patient from harm by following the appropriate policies and protocols and monitoring the patient carefully for adverse reactions. • There is a risk of administering large volumes of IV fluid to the patient when using a gravity administration set, so a burette or volumetric pump should be used in patients who may not tolerate this. • Volumetric pumps vary, so it is essential that the nurse is familiar with the device, uses the specific administration set required and follows the manufacturer's instructions. This paper presents a method used to rapidly assess the incursion and the establishment of community transmission of suspected SARS-CoV-2 variant of concern Delta (lineage B.1.617.2) into the UK in April and May 2021. The method described is independent of any genetically sequenced data, and so avoids the inherent lag times involved in sequencing of cases. We show that, between 1 April and 12 May 2021, there was a strong correlation between local authorities with high numbers of imported positive cases from India and high COVID-19 case rates, and that this relationship holds as we look at finer geographic detail. Further, we also show that Bolton was an outlier in the relationship, having the highest COVID-19 case rates despite relatively few importations. We use an artificial neural network trained on demographic data, to show that observed importations in Bolton were consistent with similar areas. Finally, using an SEIR transmission model, we show that imported positive cases were a contributing factor to persistent transmission in a number of local authorities, however they could not account for increased case rates observed in Bolton. As such, the outbreak of Delta variant in Bolton was likely not a result of direct importation from overseas, but rather secondary transmission from other regions within the UK.
