Healthcare‐associated infections (HAIs) are a global public health threat. Italy is one of the countries with the highest prevalence of HAI. Hand hygiene (HH) is a pillar of infection prevention and control. Monitoring HH is necessary to improve HH compliance, and direct observation is considered the gold standard. Transcription and analysis of data collected during direct observation of HH compliance with the WHO paper form are time‐consuming. We collected, during a 9‐day observation period, HH opportunities and compliance both with a smartphone application (SpeedyAudit) and with the WHO paper form. Then, we investigated the difference in the required time for data transcription and analysis between the WHO paper form and the use of the app. The difference in the required time for data transcription and analysis was significant with a mean time of 2 s using the app and about 14–54 min/day using paper form (p =.004) while no significant difference was found in measured compliance rates between the two data collecting methods. Researchers often use survey methods to elicit patient perspectives on their healthcare. Survey results are often subject to response bias and missing data. As part of an observational study of Veterans' healthcare preferences, we conducted a national survey of Veterans receiving care in the Veterans Affairs healthcare system. We describe two recruitment strategies offering concurrent online, paper, and phone survey options to different sets of participants and examine response and missingness patterns between recruitment methods and modalities. In Strategy 1 we sent recruitment letters presenting options to complete our survey online or on paper. If patients indicated that they wanted to complete a paper survey, we mailed them a paper survey. In Strategy 2 we sent recruitment letters with paper surveys and included the option to complete the survey online. We compared response rates, characteristics, and missingness for the strategies and survey modalities. We sent 4399 initial letters using Strategy 1 and 8148 initial letters using Strategy 2 with response rates 7.7% and 13.2%, respectively; 70.6% of respondents completed paper surveys. Across both strategies, paper survey respondents were older and had lower educational attainment. There were significantly more paper surveys missing greater than 2% of items than online surveys (OR 6.3, 95% CI [4.8, 8.1]). Our findings suggest tradeoffs associated with survey modality and recruitment strategies. Mixed-modality recruitment may increase response rates and decrease missing data and response bias. A corrigendum has been issued for an article titled "Observational study on the neonatal outcome during the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany" published in Acta Paediatrica. Hybrid aerial underwater vehicles (HAUVs) have shown broad development prospects for rapid emergency response and marine scientific observation at the sea–air interface in recent decades. The trans-media motion control problem of HAUV is a special and critical problem in the HAUV field. This paper extracts the key factors of HAUV trans-media motion control: the significant changes in dynamic input saturation of the actuator and hydrodynamic force on the HAUV body during the trans-media process. In response to the issue, this paper firstly established a HAUV trans-media motion model considering actuator dynamic input saturation based on the measured HAUV trans-media test data. Then, this paper developed a control strategy for the priority attitude angle and rear heave during the trans-media process of multi-rotor HAUV, and designed a trans-media motion control algorithm that considers actuator dynamic input saturation and model uncertainty. The stability of the control algorithm was proven through Lyapunov stability theory. Finally, this paper conducted simulation verification on the designed control algorithm, and the results showed that compared with the traditional sliding mode control algorithm, this control algorithm had a significant improvement in the performance of trans-media speed control. Introduction: In research, it is crucial to accurately estimate treatment effects and analyze experimental results. Common methods include comparing outcome differences between different groups and using linear regression models for analysis. However, observational studies may have significantly different distributions of confounding variables between control and treatment groups, leading to errors in estimating treatment effects. Methods: The propensity score methods can address this issue by weighting or matching samples to approximate the scenario of a randomized experiment and allow for more accurate estimation of treatment this paper. Results: We use propensity score methods to analyze three datasets from observational studies and draw conclusions different from those in the original text. Furthermore, we simulate three scenarios, and the results demonstrate the superiority of propensity score methods over methods such as linear regression in addressing selection bias. Discussion: Therefore, it is essential to thoroughly consider the characteristics of the data and select appropriate methods to ensure reliable conclusions in practical data analysis. Objective. The aim of this study was to examine the characteristics of scientific production related to the use of filtered water in the field of dentistry. Material and Methods. A quantitative and descriptive observational study was carried out with a scientometric approach. Data were collected from the Web of Science (WOS) database during the period January 1991 to December 2023. A search strategy incorporating a combination of MeSH terms, including terms and thesauri related to "filtered water" and "dentistry", was used. R Studio version 4.3.2 and CiteSpace 6.2.R7 were used for data analysis. Results. Over the 32-year study period, 227 scholarly papers from 134 different sources were reviewed. The literature in this field has shown an annual growth rate of 10.44%. During the year 2010, a steady movement in the number of publications and authors was observed, with considerable collaborative interaction. In the year 2020, a large interaction between publications and their citations was found. The "Citation Burst" graph identified three references that have experienced the largest "burst" of citations in an evaluated period. Lotka's law described the productivity of authors, finding that most authors have published only one paper, while a smaller number of authors have published two papers. Most authors contributed a small number of articles, while a few authors contributed a large amount of the existing literature. Conclusion. A comprehensive overview of the scientific production related to the use of filtered water in dentistry over a span of 32 years is provided. The results highlight the growing interdisciplinarity and international collaboration in this field. Background: In many countries, health care professionals are legally obliged to share information from electronic health records with patients. However, concerns have been raised regarding the sharing of notes with adolescents in mental health care, and health care professionals have called for recommendations to guide this practice. Objective: The aim was to reach a consensus among authors of scientific papers on recommendations for health care professionals' digital sharing of notes with adolescents in mental health care and to investigate whether staff at child and adolescent specialist mental health care clinics agreed with the recommendations. Methods: A Delphi study was conducted with authors of scientific papers to reach a consensus on recommendations. The process of making the recommendations involved three steps. First, scientific papers meeting the eligibility criteria were identified through a PubMed search where the references were screened. Second, the results from the included papers were coded and transformed into recommendations in an iterative process. Third, the authors of the included papers were asked to provide feedback and consider their agreement with each of the suggested recommendations in two rounds. After the Delphi process, a cross-sectional study was conducted among staff at specialist child and adolescent mental health care clinics to assess whether they agreed with the recommendations that reached a consensus. Results: Of the 84 invited authors, 27 responded. A consensus was reached on 17 recommendations on areas related to digital sharing of notes with adolescents in mental health care. The recommendations considered how to introduce digital access to notes, write notes, and support health care professionals, and when to withhold notes. Of the 41 staff members at child and adolescent specialist mental health care clinics, 60% or more agreed with the 17 recommendations. No consensus was reached regarding the age at which adolescents should receive digital access to their notes and the timing of digitally sharing notes with parents. Conclusions: A total of 17 recommendations related to key aspects of health care professionals' digital sharing of notes with adolescents in mental health care achieved consensus. Health care professionals can use these recommendations to guide their practice of sharing notes with adolescents in mental health care. This study aims to systematise subfoveal choroidal thickness (SFCT) measured using optical coherence tomography (OCT) in patients with different severities of thyroid eye disease (TED) compared with healthy subjects. The PubMed, Web of Science and Scopus databases were searched for the following terms: ((Graves' ophthalmopathy) OR (thyroid eye disease) OR (Graves' orbitopathy) OR (thyroid-associated orbitopathy)) AND (choroidal thickness) AND ((optical coherence tomography) OR (OCT)). The pool of papers was narrowed down to articles published until 31 January 2023 (26, 26 and 96 papers, respectively). Twenty-five (25) articles were taken into consideration, which were original papers and included the choroidal thickness measurements among TED patients in their results. Finally, eight papers were included in the comparative analysis of the SFCT parameter in TED patients and a group of healthy controls, and seven papers in the comparative analysis of the same parameter between active and inactive TED patients. The mean value of the difference between the TED group and the healthy group was 38.79 μm, with a confidence interval (CI) from 0.09 to 77.49 μm (p = 0.0495). The mean difference between the active TED group and inactive TED group was 38.02 μm, with a CI from 8.62 to 67.42 μm (p = 0.0113). All the results were statistically significant. Citations play an important role in researchers' careers as a key factor in evaluation of scientific impact. Many anecdotes advice authors to exploit this fact and cite prospective reviewers to try obtaining a more positive evaluation for their submission. In this work, we investigate if such a citation bias actually exists: Does the citation of a reviewer's own work in a submission cause them to be positively biased towards the submission? In conjunction with the review process of two flagship conferences in machine learning and algorithmic economics, we execute an observational study to test for citation bias in peer review. In our analysis, we carefully account for various confounding factors such as paper quality and reviewer expertise, and apply different modeling techniques to alleviate concerns regarding the model mismatch. Overall, our analysis involves 1,314 papers and 1,717 reviewers and detects citation bias in both venues we consider. In terms of the effect size, by citing a reviewer's work, a submission has a non-trivial chance of getting a higher score from the reviewer: an expected increase in the score is approximately 0.23 on a 5-point Likert item. This paper explores the concept of "community-engaged research" (CEnR) within the context of Veteran health care delivery and reintegration programs. A multi-sector expert panel (msExP) was formed to evaluate and make recommendations on Veteran community reintegration research and programs. The panel consisted of Veterans, care partners, clinical providers, researchers, community stakeholders, and subject matter experts. The paper examines the composition and lifecycle of the panel, highlighting the characteristics and experiences of the participants. Shifts in the panel's purpose and engagement levels occurred in response to unanticipated disruptions, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic. The transformation of the panel emphasizes the importance of aligning individual and group needs and deepening intrapersonal relationships Findings based on observations, surveys, and interviews with panel members contribute to the field of community-engaged research by demonstrating the utility of catalytic validity that balances group and individual development. Accessible Summary: What is known on the subject?: Involuntary detention is a legislative power that allows people to be taken against their will for a mandatory mental health assessment and is known to be a restrictive and traumatizing process for patients.While there is some literature examining police/ambulance and mental health worker co‐response models, the conclusions are mixed as to whether they reduce rates of involuntary detentions in mentally ill people.The Police, Ambulance, Clinician Early Response (PACER) model is an example of a tri‐response mental health crisis response team whose role is to respond and assess people thought to be experiencing a mental health crisis.There is little literature to determine whether PACER tri‐response model reduces incidents of involuntary detention when compared with standard police and/or ambulance responses. What this paper adds to existing knowledge?: This paper describes the outcomes of patients assessed by a PACER team, compared with patients who were assessed by police or ambulance.It demonstrates that PACER may reduce unnecessary involuntary detentions through expert mental health assessment for patients coming to emergency services for assistance. Background: Involuntary detention is a common method of enforcing mental health assessment and treatment; however, it is associated with poor patient outcomes and high emergency service and hospital demand. Aim: To examine the association between (1) Police, Ambulance, Clinician, Early Response (PACER) model, (2) police or (3) ambulance response and rates of involuntary detention of mentally ill people. Methods: A retrospective observational study using routine administrative data in an Australian City, over a 12‐month period (2019–2020). Results: Over a 12‐month period, 8577 people received crisis mental health intervention in the study setting. We observed an 18% increase in the relative risk of being involuntarily detained by police, and a 640% increase in the relative risk of being detained by ambulance. The PACER team detained 10% of their total presentations, as compared with 12% by police and 74% by ambulance. Involuntary detentions enacted by PACER were more likely to convert to a post‐detention hospitalization (72%), when compared with police (27%) and ambulance (17%). Discussion: PACER was associated with lower rates of involuntary detention and higher rates of post‐detention hospitalization when compared to police and ambulance response. Background: Robotic surgery has gained widespread acceptance in elective interventions, yet its role in emergency procedures remains underexplored. While the 2021 WSES position paper discussed limited studies on the application of robotics in emergency general surgery, it recommended strict patient selection, adequate training, and improved platform accessibility. This prospective study aims to define the role of robotic surgery in emergency settings, evaluating intraoperative and postoperative outcomes and assessing its feasibility and safety. Methods: The ROEM study is an observational, prospective, multicentre, international analysis of clinically stable adult patients undergoing robotic surgery for emergency treatment of acute pathologies including diverticulitis, cholecystitis, and obstructed hernias. Data collection includes patient demographics and intervention details. Furthermore, data relating to the operating theatre team and the surgical instruments used will be collected in order to conduct a cost analysis. The study plans to enrol at least 500 patients from 50 participating centres, with each centre having a local lead and collaborators. All data will be collected and stored online through a secure server running the Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) web application. Ethical considerations and data governance will be paramount, requiring local ethical committee approvals from participating centres. Discussion: Current literature and expert consensus suggest the feasibility of robotic surgery in emergencies with proper support. However, challenges include staff training, scheduling conflicts with elective surgeries, and increased costs. The ROEM study seeks to contribute valuable data on the safety, feasibility, and cost-effectiveness of robotic surgery in emergency settings, focusing on specific pathologies. Previous studies on cholecystitis, abdominal hernias, and diverticulitis provide insights into the benefits and challenges of robotic approaches. Objective: The purpose of this paper is to systematically and critically appraise the available scientific evidence concerning the prevalence of edentulism among diabetic patients compared to non‐diabetic people. Methods: MEDLINE‐PubMed and Cochrane‐CENTRAL databases were comprehensively searched up to April 2023 to identify appropriate studies. The inclusion criteria were observational studies conducted in human subjects ≥18 years of age with the primary aim of investigating the prevalence of edentulism among diabetic patients. Based on the extracted data, a meta‐analysis was performed. Recommendations based on the body of evidence were formulated using the GRADE approach. Results: Independent screening of 2085 unique titles and abstracts revealed seven publications that met the eligibility criteria. Study size ranged from 293 to 15,943 participants. Data from all seven studies were suitable for meta‐analysis. Overall, 8.3% of the studied population was edentulous. The weighted mean prevalence of edentulism among diabetic and non‐diabetics was 14.0% and 7.1%, respectively. The overall odds ratio for diabetic patients to be edentulous as compared to non‐diabetics was 2.39 (95% CI [1.73, 3.28], p < 0.00001). Conclusion: There appears to be moderate certainty that the risk of being edentulous for diabetic patients compared to non‐diabetic people is significant, but the odds ratio is estimated to be small. This review will serve as an entry point for international researchers who would like to tap into the vast scientific potential of Chinese-language literature on oceanic fronts. We focused on observational physical oceanography studies of marine fronts. A thorough bibliographic search netted 95 papers published in 1982–2023, with a sharp increase in the total number of papers from 2006–2010 to 2011–2015, when this number almost tripled. This trend continued unabated through the early 2020s. The sharp increase in Chinese-language publications preceded by several years a rapid increase in English-language publications in the same field. Regionally, the overwhelming majority of papers is focused on the China Seas, particularly the East China Seas and northern South China Sea. Elsewhere, a number of papers were dedicated to the Southern Ocean and North Atlantic. Thematically, papers on remote sensing of ocean fronts dominate the literature, with special attention to the development of front-detection algorithms that can be applied to satellite data on sea surface temperature, salinity, chlorophyll, and sea level anomaly. Numerous papers on marine fronts in the China Seas present important results that have to be considered by international researchers. Overall, this review emphasizes the significant contributions made by Chinese oceanographers, particularly to studies of the frontal oceanography of the China Seas. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The sudden growth in online instruction due to COVID‐19 restrictions has given renewed urgency to questions about remote learning that have remained unresolved. Web‐based assessment software provides instructors an array of options for varying testing parameters, but the pedagogical impacts of some of these variations has yet to be examined. Objectives: The current study examines whether question order affects student performance on online college math assessments. Drawing on the literature of testing and math anxiety, we hypothesized that difficult questions near the beginning of an assessment would have a destructive effect on student confidence, which would in turn have a deleterious effect on their performance. Methods: We employed an observational 'big data' methodology, analysing 23,468 final exams completed by students in 10 different courses over eight semesters at a Math Emporium in a large technical university in the eastern United States. Students were freshmen and sophomores enrolled in non‐engineering math courses. We regressed the final score on the difficulty level of the first and second questions, controlling for several other factors. Results and Conclusions: We found that several factors—day of the week, amount of time before the deadline, number of minutes spent on the exam—have more of an impact on score than question order. This pattern was consistent across sexes. Takeaways: Our findings contradict some previous studies, which have found that difficult early questions degrade student performance, and that this affect is more pronounced in females. This work enriches our understanding of how students respond to online assessment. This research is part of a wider framework of index literature studies that have been conducted in the past few years. Some of these have had a focus on specific remote sensing (RS) technologies, while others have tackled specific threats to cultural heritage and landscapes. By considering both damages to heritage sites and technologies used for documentation and the monitoring of such occurrences, this paper unveils the current trends on a global scale in the study of the threats to heritage caused by both human-induced and natural hazards. Papers published by Europe-based researchers over the last 20 years using RS and Earth Observation (EO) techniques were surveyed alongside recommendations and programmatic documents issued by institutions in charge of heritage protection and management of several countries in Europe. Around 300 documents, including scientific articles (published from 2000 until 2022) and Grey literature (from 2008 and 2022), were analysed. The data collection and analysis were undertaken by a working group that was intentionally composed to bring together diverse perspectives and expertise, i.e., requirements of heritage professionals using RS and EO technologies, knowledge on technologies and their use in the field, and expertise in methodology implementation to support heritage management. The results highlight the type of hazards considered the most and the geographical distribution of the archaeological sites and monuments targeted by these studies; the countries the researchers are affiliated with; the types of RS and specifically satellite-based technologies used (and hence the type of data used); the tendencies of satellite data usage—visual interpretation, image processing, employment of machine learning, and AI; the technologies most applied by public institutions and practitioners; and many others. Recommendations and future trajectories are then outlined to efficiently reframe discrepancies between types of damage that have received the greatest attention in the literature and the most impactful ones in terms of the number of sites damaged. Background: Digitization of health records and health delivery processes in health care settings may have an impact on the Patient-Physician communication, wait times, that affect the overall patient satisfaction with the health care services. Aim & Objective: We ascertained the effect of digitization of medical case files on the doctor patient relationship (DPR) domain of patient satisfaction at an urban primary health center in India. Settings and Design: Comparative, cross-sectional study in primary health centres. Methods and Material: The patient satisfaction was compared between the patients attending the Public Health Dispensary (PHD) that uses digitized medical case file system and a Civil Dispensary (CD) which follows the conventional paper based medical records, using a Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire (PSQ). Statistical analysis used: Univariate analysis was done by chi-square test and adjusted analysis was done by multiple linear regression. Results: Patient satisfaction in DPR was found to be similar between the digitized medical case files based and conventional OPD (p=0.453). Significantly higher overall patient satisfaction was reported in the conventional paper based OPD than the digitized OPD (p<0.001). Background: The United States is increasingly recognizing period product insecurity, insufficient access to menstrual products and limited private spaces for managing menstruation due to financial constraints, as an issue impacting the well-being and dignity of Americans. One strategy to address period product insecurity has been distributing free period products via period supply banks. The outcomes of period product distribution outside the school setting are absent from the literature. Objectives: This study, a formative evaluation of the free period product distribution efforts of the Alliance for Period Supplies, aims to identify (1) characteristics of individuals receiving products from period supply banks and their experiences of period product insecurity and (2) health and social outcomes experienced by recipients of free period products. Design: Survey data collection occurred at two points: baseline and one-year follow-up. All study participants provided verbal consent. Methods: Between Fall 2018 and Spring 2020, 1863 baseline and 80 follow-up surveys were administered. Participants received free period products for themselves and/or a household member from one of 20 participating Alliance for Period Supplies period supply banks directly or from one of their 64 partner agencies. Results: At baseline, 72.4% of participants had to choose between buying period products and another basic need. One year after accessing a period supply bank, 36.3% of participants reported this experience (p = 0.018). Participants reported at baseline, on average, 7.8 days in the past year of avoiding seeing others, canceling appointments, or skipping work or school because they did not have access to period products. At follow-up, this was reduced to 1.2 days, on average, t (68) = 2.214, p < 0.05. Conclusion: Period supply banks play an essential role in facilitating access to period products and the resulting benefits. Our study highlights the need for sustainable, well-funded policies and interventions to address period product insecurity effectively in society. Period supply banks want to help by giving them free period products. Researchers do not know if getting free period products is helpful for individuals. What we wanted to learn: The Alliance for Period Supplies is a membership program for period supply banks. We wanted to learn about the individuals who get free period products and whether getting them was helpful. What we did: For a year, starting in Fall 2018, we asked 1863 individuals to fill out paper surveys. A year later, we asked 80 of those same individuals to fill out a second survey. We asked participants to take the survey if they got free period products from a period supply bank for themselves or someone they live with. Individuals only participated in the study if they told us they wanted to. What we learned: Individuals who cannot afford period products must navigate difficult decisions between purchasing products or choosing other basic needs. Providing free products through a period supply bank has lessened the burden on these individuals, reducing the number who had to choose. Individuals unable to afford period products may sometimes opt out of going places they want to go for pleasure or miss important events, like work or school, because they do not have period products. Getting free period products has eased these challenges, letting individuals participate more fully in activities and engagements without worry about period products. Simple Summary: The use of pre-emptive and prophylactic tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (Allo-SCT) remains highly heterogeneous and very little is known about the use of third generation TKIs in this context. In this paper, we analyze the feasibility of maintenance with ponatinib administered after Allo-SCT to prevent cytologic relapse in a population of 48 patients with Philadelphia-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia undergoing transplant while in complete cytologic remission. Although with the caution of the retrospective data, our analysis supports the feasibility of a ponatinib maintenance strategy after Allo-SCT, resulting in a low rate of discontinuation due to toxicity and a high probability of survival and relapse-free survival, particularly in the prophylactic group. In the majority of cases where a daily dose of 45 mg was started a dose reduction to 30–15 mg/day was required, which may be the appropriate dose to balance efficacy and tolerability. The administration of TKIs after Allo-SCT in Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph + ALL) remains controversial, and the TKI approach (prophylactic, pre-emptive or salvage) is still heterogeneous in transplant centers. In this context, very little is known about the feasibility and safety of third-generation TKIs. In this paper, we analyze the efficacy and safety of ponatinib (PONA) administered after Allo-SCT to prevent cytologic relapse of Ph + ALL. This is a multicenter observational study including 48 patients (pts) with Ph + ALL (median age 49 years) who received PONA after Allo-SCT while in complete cytological remission (cCR); 26 (54%) had positive minimal residual disease (MRD pos) before Allo-SCT. PONA was administered after Allo-SCT prophylactically (starting with MRD neg) in 26 pts or pre-emptively (starting with MRD pos post-SCT and without hematological relapse) in 22 pts. Patients treated prophylactically with PONA started treatment earlier, at a median of 4.3 months (range 1.5–6) after Allo-SCT, than those treated pre-emptively, who started PONA at a median of 7.4 months (range 2–63) after Allo-SCT (p = 0.01). The median starting dose of PONA was 30 mg/day (range 15–45). A dose reduction was required in 10/48 (21%) of cases, but a permanent discontinuation of PONA, due to toxicity, was required in only 5/48 pts (10.5%). No deaths due to PONA-related adverse events (AEs) were reported. The median follow-up time after Allo-SCT was 34 months (range 7.7–118). At the last follow-up, the median duration of PONA therapy was 22 months (range 2–100). The 5-year OS and RFS after Allo-SCT were 92% and 71%, respectively. The 5-year RFS after Allo-SCT of pts who received PONA prophylaxis was 95%, and it was 57% for those who received PONA pre-emptively (log-rank p = 0.02). In conclusion, this multicenter analysis of 48 patients with Ph + ALL undergoing Allo-SCT while in CcR, although with the caution of the retrospective data, supports the feasibility of PONA maintenance strategy after Allo-SCT with a low rate of discontinuations (10.5%) due to PONA-related AE. Background: Involvement in research activities is complex in pediatric nursing and allied health professionals (AHPs). It is important to understand which individual factors are associated with it to inform policy makers in promoting research. Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted to describe the level of participation in research activities over the last ten years of nurses and AHPs working in a tertiary pediatric hospital. A large sample of nurses and AHPs working in an Italian academic tertiary pediatric hospital completed an online self-report questionnaire between June and December 2018. Three multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to predict participation in research projects, speaking at conferences, and writing scientific articles. Results: Overall, data from 921 health professionals were analyzed (response rate = 66%), of which about 21% (n = 196) reported participating in a research project, while 33% (n = 297) had attended a scientific conference as a speaker, and 11% (n = 94) had written at least one scientific paper. Having a Master or a Regional Advanced Course, working as an AHP or a ward manager, as well as regularly reading scientific journals and participation in an internal hospital research group or attendance in a specific course about research in the hospital, significantly predicted participation in research projects, speaking at conferences and writing scientific papers. It is important to foster research interest and competencies among health professionals to improve participation in research projects, speaking at conferences, and writing scientific papers. Conclusions: Overall, we found a good level of attendance at conferences as speakers (33%), a moderate level of participation in research (21%), and low levels for writing scientific papers (11%). Our study highlighted the need to support participation in research activities among nurses and AHPs. Policymakers should identify strategies to promote research among nurses and AHPs, such as protected rewarded time for research, specific education, strengthened collaboration with academics, and financial support. Recent research in the field of reflexive metrics, which analyses the effects of the use of performance indicators on scientific conduct, has studied the emergence and consequences of evaluation gaps in science. The concept of evaluation gaps captures potential discrepancies between what researchers value about their research, in particular research quality, and what metrics measure. In the language of rational choice theory, an evaluation gap persists if motivational factors arising out of the internal component of an actor's situation are incongruent with those arising out of the external components. The aim of this research is therefore to study and compare autonomous and controlled motivations to become an astronomer, to do research in astronomy and to publish scientific papers. This study is based on a comprehensive quantitative survey of academic and non-academic astronomers worldwide with 3509 responses. By employing verified instruments to measure perceived publication pressure, distributive & procedural justice, overcommitment to work and observation of scientific misconduct, this paper also investigates how these different motivational factors affect research output and behaviour. I find evidence for an evaluation gap and that controlled motivational factors arising from evaluation procedures based on publication record drives up publication pressure, which, in turn, was found to increase the likelihood of perceived frequency of misbehaviour. This article examines the early modern household's importance for producing experimental knowledge through an examination of the Halifax household of Margery and Henry Power. While Henry Power has been studied as a natural philosopher within the male-dominated intellectual circles of Cambridge and London, the epistemic labour of his wife, Margery Power, has hitherto been overlooked. From the 1650s, this couple worked in tandem to enhance their understanding of the vegetable world through various paper technologies, from books, paper slips and recipe notebooks to Margery's drawing album and Henry's published Experimental Philosophy. Focusing on Margery's practice of hand-colouring flower books, her copied and original drawings of flowers and her experimental production of ink, we argue that Margery's sensibility towards colour was crucial to Henry's microscopic observations of plants. Even if Margery's sophisticated knowledge of plants never left the household, we argue that her contribution was nevertheless crucial to the observation and representation of plants within the community of experimental philosophy. In this way, our article highlights the importance of female artists within the history of scientific observation, the use of books and paperwork in the botanical disciplines, and the relationship between household science and experimental philosophy. Objective: Patients who do not wait (DNW) to be seen are a problem for emergency department (ED) care. The aim of this study was to identify the rate and reasons of DNW patients during 1 month of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: An observational cohort study of DNW patients presenting to Austin Hospital ED was carried out in August 2021. Patients were identified using hospital coding data and surveyed by telephone. DNW patients' reasons were explored, and their demographics and clinical outcomes compared with those who received care. Results: Of 7641 patients presenting to ED in the study period, 6% (n = 452) were DNW patients. Compared with those who received care, DNW patients were younger (P < 0.001), had lower triage categories (P = 0.001) and were more likely to have self-presented (P = 0.006). A total of 47% of DNW patients (n = 213) participated in the survey. Reasons for leaving included waiting time (61%, n = 129), symptom improvement (13%, n = 28), reassurance from staff (7%, n = 15) and ED crowding (6%, n = 12). A total of 75% of DNW patients (n = 159) sought alternative medical care; 14% (n = 29) reported hospitalisation within 7 days. 64% (n = 137) did not feel that the experience affected their likelihood of seeking future ED care; 32% (n = 69) felt less likely to seek future ED care. Conclusions: During the month studied, the DNW rate was 6%. Reassuringly, most patients sought alternative medical care, although one-third were dissuaded from returning to the ED. Future research should focus on high-risk group delineation and qualitative description of the experiences and reasons of DNW patients. What is known about the topic? Objectives: Frailty is associated with significant mortality and morbidity in hospitalised patients. We describe physiotherapy and occupational therapy practices in hospitalised frail patients and examine the role of early intervention. Methods: We performed a prospective, observational cohort study in a medical assessment unit in a tertiary care hospital. Patients with COVID-19 infection were excluded. Frailty was measured by the Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS). Early allied health intervention was defined as involvement within 48 h of admission. Demographic data, clinical diagnoses, time spent with physiotherapy and occupational therapy, CFS, hospital length of stay and outcomes were recorded and analysed. Results: A total of 356 patients were categorised into non-frail (CFS score <5) and frail (CFS score ≥5) groups. The prevalence of frailty was 68% (n = 241). Physiotherapy (77.2%) and occupational therapy (75.5%) reviews were more frequent in frail patients than in non-frail patients. Frail patients who had allied health involvement within 48 h of admission had a significant reduction in their hospital length of stay (mean reduction of 7.3 days, 95% CI: 0.53, 14, P = 0.035) and a 2.44% reduction in the relative risk of developing pressure injuries (95% CI: 1.31, 4.53). There was no statistically significant differences in outcomes with allied health intervention for non-frail patients and patients who require residential aged care facility level care. Conclusions: Allied health have a key role in the management of frailty. Early allied health intervention was associated with a reduced hospital length of stay as well as a reduced incidence of pressure injury in frail patients. What is known about the topic? Objective: Research capacity in health care involves the ability to conduct, access, evaluate, and apply research evidence and results in elevated quality of care. Despite its significance, mental health organisations face challenges in assessing and enhancing their research capacity. This study aimed to evaluate the research capacity and culture within a large metropolitan health service's Mental Health and Wellbeing Program (MHWP). Methods: A cross-sectional, observational study using the Research Capacity and Culture (RCC) tool was conducted among approximately 1081 MHWP employees. An online survey recorded staff views on research readiness, interest, motivators, and barriers. Results: Of 220 survey entries, 100 were completed. The majority were female (n = 68), under 40 years old (n = 51), and employed full-time (n = 54). The highest RCC domain score was for organisational culture. Half of the respondents thought research was not part of their role, yet 70% wanted more involvement. Motivators included skill development, while barriers included a lack of time and funds. Conclusions: The findings emphasise the need for targeted strategies to enhance research culture at the individual level. However, opportunities also exist at the team and organisational levels. The study provided insights that can guide future interventions and capacity-building initiatives. What is known about the topic? Objective: This study aimed to determine the number of visitors to an acute hospital, the time of visit, destination, and details of parking over the same period. Methods: A prospective observational pilot study in a large metropolitan public hospital in Australia was performed. The research team observed all visitors over a 14-day period between 17 and 30 October 2022 counting the people visiting relatives or friends of admitted hospital patients as well as those visiting outpatient clinics during the observation period. Other outcome measures included time of the visit, destination, and estimated costs of parking. Results: During the 14 days of observation there were 18,066 visitors, averaging 1290 per day. The majority were visitors to inpatients (62.2%, 11,232, averaging 802 per day). Those attending outpatients were less (37.8%, 6834, averaging 668 per weekday). The estimated average parking cost was A$18.10 per day normally and A$11.85 for concessions. Conclusions: This was the first known study on hospital-wide visiting in Australia or globally. These findings would be important for addressing issues such as hospital planning, and for future research including the impact of visiting on patient outcomes, the patient and community experience, and the expectations and experience of hospital visitors. Objective: Patient engagement, as measured by the Patient Activation Measure (PAM®), has been used to assess patients' ability to manage their own care. This study aimed to determine whether the PAM® could predict healthcare use in older adults aged >70 years, living independently in the community with mild frailty, within 30 days after emergency department (ED) discharge. Methods: A prospective single-centre observational cohort study was completed including older adults who presented to an ED. The 13-item PAM® and selected International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measures were completed prior to ED discharge. Results: Two hundred patients were recruited with a mean age of 84.8 years (s.d. 6.9). The mean PAM® score was 58.6 (s.d. 13.3), with 12.5% at Level 1 (n = 25), 40% at Level 2 (n = 80), 34.5% at Level 3 (n = 69) and 13.0% at Level 4 (n = 26). The PAM® level was significantly associated with ED presentations in the past 6 months (P = 0.030). The PAM® level did not predict healthcare use within 30 days of discharge consisting of time until ED representation (P = 0.557), number of ED representations (P = 0.560), number of hospital admissions (P = 0.499), length of stay in hospital (P = 0.254) and number of post-discharge contacts (P = 0.667). Conclusions: Overall, the PAM® did not predict prospective short-term healthcare use. However, the PAM® was significantly associated with 6-month previous ED use. With more than 50% of patients at Level 1 or 2, indicating lower capacity for self-management, tailored interventions are required to assist mildly frail patients to manage discharge care plans and engage in preventative strategies. Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of twice daily rehabilitation in older patients admitted to an acute care of the elderly (ACE) hospital ward. Method: This was a prospective single-site, cohort study of twice daily interventions provided by ACE physiotherapists, occupational therapists and/or allied health assistants in an ACE hospital ward. The feasibility of twice daily therapy was evaluated using a range of outcomes including satisfaction, fidelity and limited efficacy. Results: A total of 220 patients were included (median age 86 [IQR 81–91] years, 54% female, with a median length of hospital stay of 7 [IQR 5–10] days). Twice daily therapy was delivered on 71% (n = 757) of patient admitted weekdays (fidelity). Moderate-to-large effect sizes were observed in patient functional and mobility measures during their hospital stay and most patients (74%) were able to be successfully discharged home (limited efficacy). Both staff and patients reported high levels of satisfaction with physiotherapy and occupational therapy while on the ACE ward. Conclusion: Twice daily therapy with acutely hospitalised elderly patients is feasible, facilitated discharge home, and is associated with high patient and staff satisfaction. This paper is an examination of the relationship between continuity of care with home health physical therapists following hospitalization and the likelihood of readmission. We conducted a retrospective cohort study. Using rehospitalization as the dependent variable, a continuity of care indicator variable was analyzed with a multivariable logistic regression. The indicator variable was created using the Bice-Boxerman Index to measure physical therapist continuity of care. The mean of the index (0.81) was used to separate between high continuity (0.81 or greater) of care and low continuity of care (lower than 0.81). The sample included 90,220 patients, with data coming from the linking of the Outcome Assessment and Information Set (OASIS) and an administrative dataset. All subjects lived in the NYC metro area. Inclusion criteria was a patient's admission to their first home health care site following discharge occurring between 2010 and 2015, and individuals who identified as Male or Female. In comparison to low continuity of physical therapy, high continuity of physical therapy significantly decreased hospital readmissions (OR = 0.74, 95% CI 0.71-0.76, p ≤.001, AME = −4.28%). Interpersonal continuity of physical therapy care has been identified as a key factor in decreasing readmissions from the home care setting. The research suggests an increased emphasis in preserving physical therapist continuity following hospitalization should be explored, with the potential to reduce hospital readmissions. The COVID-19 pandemic in Singapore led to limited access to mental health services, resulting in increased distress among the population. This study explores the potential benefits of offering a digital mental health intervention (DMHI), Wysa, as a brief and longitudinal intervention as part of the mindline.sg initiative launched by the MOH Office for Healthcare Transformation in Singapore. The paper aims to (i) Evaluate the engagement and retention of Singaporean users across the brief intervention on the mindline.sg website and the longitudinal app version of Wysa; (ii) Examine the types of negative thoughts and challenges managed during the pandemic; and (iii) Assess the impact of the conversational agent (CA) in supporting cognitive restructuring across attributional styles and cognitive patterns. A retrospective observational design with a mixed-methods approach was utilized. Website users (N = 69,055) and app users (N = 4,103) from September 1, 2020, to July 25, 2022, were included in the study. Engagement and retention were evaluated through usage data, and T-tests were used to compare engagement and retention between the app and website. A thematic analysis assessed the types of negative thoughts and the success of cognitive restructuring. Logistic regression was used to estimate the likelihood of restructuring based on negative thought type and attributional style. Users who used the longitudinal intervention after first using a brief intervention demonstrated significantly higher engagement and retention (P < 0.001). In user ratings received for mindline.sg (n = 8,959), 83.03% rated the app 3 or higher (out of 5) on helpfulness. 91.6% of the users (n = 862) who attempted cognitive restructuring (n = 790) on the app successfully reframed a thought. A single conversation with Wysa was also significantly associated with the ability to restructure future-oriented negative thoughts (P < 0.001) and internal, stable and global (P < 0.001) negative thoughts, while other attributional styles required more intervention. Psychosocial challenges managed by users during COVID-19 were also documented through negative thoughts mentioned within the CA. The findings demonstrate that brief interventions can facilitate enhanced engagement with DMHIs and that digital interventions can successfully facilitate cognitive restructuring and improve mental health outcomes. Background: The PalliPed project is a nationwide, observational, cross-sectional study designed with the aim of providing a constantly updated national database for the census and monitoring of specialized pediatric palliative care (PPC) activities in Italy. This paper presents the results of the first monitoring phase of the PalliPed project, which was developed through the PalliPed 2022–2023 study, to update current knowledge on the provision of specialized PPC services in Italy. Methods: Italian specialized PPC centers/facilities were invited to participate and asked to complete a self-reporting, ad-hoc, online survey regarding their clinical activity in 2022–2023, in the revision of the data initially collected in the first PalliPed study of 2021. Results: 18 specialized PPC centers/facilities from 14 Italian regions and two autonomous provinces participated; 13 were identified as regional referral centers (72.2%), with the acquisition of three new centers in comparison to 2021. Full coverage of the regional territory was reported by 54% of them, compared with 45% in 2021, while a 24/7 service was offered by 23%, compared with 27% in 2021. Eight of 13 referral centers (61%) had a dedicated team, compared with 91% in 2021. Also, an overall increase in the number of followed patients was observed, rising from 1,209 (2019) to 2,734 (2023). In line with previous data, most PPC healthcare providers were nurses (n = 181) and physicians (n = 89), with an overall increased number of PPC providers from 2021. Conclusions: The nationwide PalliPed project established the first comprehensive overview and monitoring of the state of specialized PPC in Italy. Data reported within the PalliPed 2022–2023 monitoring study suggest a general improving trend in the availability of the specialized PPC service in Italy, compared with data collected in 2021. At the same time, the need for a greater effort to provide better care models and resources for specialized PPC remains, especially considering that the number of children needing PPC is constantly increasing. Evidence-based law seeks to make best use of evidence to assess the effectiveness of laws and regulations. The question arises as to how exactly to make best use of evidence. This paper argues that Evidential Pluralism provides an answer to this question and can thus provide philosophical foundations for evidence-based law. Evidential Pluralism is a theory of causal enquiry which maintains that one needs to scrutinise mechanistic studies alongside the experimental and observational studies that are the focus of present-day evidence-based medicine and evidence-based policy. The paper develops a new approach to evidence-based law, called EBL+, based on the principles of Evidential Pluralism. Sociology began as a scientific discipline in large part by defining itself by what it was NOT, namely, psychology. This means that within sociology there has always been an uncertainty over whether subjective phenomena, including selves, identities, emotions, consciousness, feelings, or experience, are topics worthy of scientific analysis and observation within the discipline. Some argue that psychology is vital to doing sociology (as an accepted or foundational "first principle"), while others reject it because it falls outside the scope of sociological concerns. In this paper I analyze antisubjectivism in sociology in the form of Donald Black's "pure sociology," as well as the antihumanist network theory of Stephan Fuchs. I conclude by suggesting that if sociologists are serious about achieving their long sought after but elusive "science of society," then the sort of antisubjectivism, antihumanism, and antiessentialism being propounded by Black, Fuchs, and others should receive serious consideration in current and future sociological work. Purpose: This paper aims to examine the relationship between self-care management and quality of life in elderly hypertensives at the Jember Nursing Home. Design/methodology/approach: Thirty-five respondents were collected for a cross-sectional study with consecutive sampling. This study used the Hypertension Self-Management Behavior Questionnaire and Quality of Life-Elderly, as well as a questionnaire about individual characteristics. Kendall's Tau-b Test was used to analyze the data obtained from this study. Findings: The majority of the elderly in the Jember Nursing Home reported having moderate self-care management (46.9%) and moderate quality of life (57.1%). This study found a significant positive correlation between self-care management and quality of life (p-value = 0.001), which was weak and significant (r = 0.282). Research limitations/implications: This research has limitations on the number of respondents used in this study, because this research was only conducted in one place (one site center). Include the respondent's features more in the past history, and only a few are related to the physical health domain. So that further research can be conducted on more respondents, with a wider coverage of locations and adding some of the characteristics of respondents related to the domain of physical and psychological health. Practical implications: The role of gerontology in overcoming loneliness in the elderly is to increase health service activities, both primary and secondary, such as monitoring blood pressure, providing consultations and routine examinations for the elderly related to hypertension and being able to control the dietary intake of hypertensive foods in the elderly. Originality/value: Elderly in nursing homes experience hypertension due to poor self-care management problems, which will have an impact on worsening quality of life conditions. Objective: To present the first Brazilian real-world results with galcanezumab and provide a consensus expert opinion on the prophylactic treatment of cluster headache (CH) in Brazil. Methods: The first part of the study (real-world results) was observational, prospective, uncontrolled, and descriptive. A sample of 44 consecutive patients with episodic or chronic CH were evaluated and treated in a traditional tertiary clinic from March 2020 to June 2024. The second part (consensus expert opinion) consisted of a survey completed by ten Brazilian headache clinicians with at least 25 years of clinical experience, who published at least 15 headache papers and attended at least 15 national or international headache conferences. Results: Forty-four patients (86.4% men, 13.6% women) were included. The average age was 45.9 ± 14.2 years. The diagnosis was made 27.3 ± 13.6 years after the onset of headache bouts. In 84.1% of the patients, CH was classified as episodic. Verapamil, lithium, or verapamil plus lithium were prescribed to respectively, 25%, 9.1%, and 6.8% of patients. Galcanezumab was prescribed to all and the majority (65.9%) used a dose of 300 mg once. There was a reduction in headache frequency of ≥ 50% at 3 weeks in 65.9% of patients for all doses of galcanezumab, and in 72.4% of those using galcanezumab 300 mg. Verapamil was recommended as a first-line treatment by 6 of 10 experts and a second-line treatment by the other 4 experts; galcanezumab was recommended as a first-line treatment by 4 of 10 experts and as a second-line treatment by 3 of 10 experts. Conclusions: This study presented the first real-world data with galcanezumab in Brazilian patients with CH and showed a reduction in headache frequency in most patients. A survey of Brazilian experts not meant to represent the country's guidelines, favored galcanezumab as either the first or the second option in prophylaxis. Motivation: This research investigates the transformative impact of integrating AI into mathematics education, aiming to enhance students' conceptual understanding and self‐efficacy. It addresses the crucial need for innovative teaching methods in response to contemporary challenges in education and aims to fill gaps in understanding the potential drawbacks and benefits of AI implementation. Objectives: The primary goal of this study is to investigate the effects of AI tools, such as GeoGebra and ChatGPT, on students' conceptual understanding and self‐efficacy in a mathematics classroom setting, with a focus on collaborative learning, teacher‐led discussions, and problem‐solving. Methods: Employing a mixed‐methods approach, the research involves pre‐ and post‐implementation surveys, supplemented by qualitative data from interviews, focus groups, and classroom observations. The study emphasises the utilisation of AI in collaborative learning environments and explores the challenges and opportunities associated with its integration. Results and Conclusions: The study reveals a noteworthy enhancement in students' conceptual understanding and self‐efficacy belief when AI tools are incorporated into mathematics education. However, it highlights concerns such as technological challenges, potential teacher replacement fears, biases in AI systems, and difficulties related to pacing and social interaction. To optimise the use of AI, the paper suggests strategies like adaptive learning platforms, real‐world simulations, intelligent tutoring systems, and data‐driven instruction, positioning AI as a complement rather than a substitute for traditional teaching methods. Objective: To explore the association between geographic access to allied health services and potentially preventable hospitalisations. Methods: This is a retrospective observational study. Adults aged 18 years or older with a potentially preventable hospitalisation for a chronic condition(s) to a public hospital in South Western Sydney Local Health District between 1 July 2016 and 30 June 2019 were identified from the Secure Analytic for Population Health and Intelligence portal at NSW Health. Locations of allied health amenities or practices in the same geographic area were identified from the 2019 National Health Service Directory. Geospatial analysis was used to identify geographic hotspots and coldspots of potentially preventable hospitalisations. Association with access to allied health services was investigated using linear models. Results: Hotspots of potentially preventable hospitalisations were significantly more disadvantaged than coldspots. Hotspots also had poorer access to allied health services than coldspots. Conclusion: In South Western Sydney, populations with higher burden of chronic disease, as measured through preventable hospitalisations, have poorer access to allied health services than populations with lesser need. Objective: Detailed quantifications of the environmental footprint of operations that include surgery, anaesthesia, and engineering are rare. We examined all such aspects to find the greenhouse gas emissions of an operation. Methods: We undertook a life cycle assessment of 10 patients undergoing total knee replacements, collecting data for all surgical equipment, energy requirements for cleaning, and operating room energy use. Data for anaesthesia were sourced from our prior study. We used life cycle assessment software to convert inputs of energy and material use into outputs in kg CO2e emissions, using Monte Carlo analyses with 95% confidence intervals. Results: The average carbon footprint was 131.7 kg CO2e, (95% confidence interval: 117.7–148.5 kg CO2e); surgery was foremost (104/131.7 kg CO2e, 80%), with lesser contributions from anaesthesia (15.0/131.7 kg CO2e, 11%), and engineering (11.9/131.7 kg CO2e, 9%). The main surgical sources of greenhouse gas emissions were: energy used to disinfect and steam sterilise reusable equipment (43.4/131.7 kg CO2e, 33%), single-use equipment (34.2/131.7 kg CO2e, 26%), with polypropylene alone 13.7/131.7 kg CO2e (11%), and the knee prosthesis 19.6 kg CO2e (15%). For energy use, the main contributors were: gas heating (6.7 kg CO2e) and heating, cooling, and fans (4 kg CO2e). Conclusions: The carbon footprint of a total knee replacement was equivalent to driving 914 km in a standard 2022 Australian car, with surgery contributing 80%. Such data provide guidance in reducing an operation's carbon footprint through prudent equipment use, more efficient steam sterilisation with renewable electricity, and reduced single-use waste. Background/Objectives: The limited and inconsistent adoption and regulation of nurse-led clinics (NLCs) and "See & Treat" (S&T) services in Italy needs to be explored considering their value towards patients' outcomes acknowledged in the literature. This study aims to explore the phenomenon of hidden nursing activities (HNAs) in these settings, hypothesizing that features and activities performed in these settings are heterogeneous across the country and widely underreported or attributed to other professionals than nurses. HNAs are hypothesized to be associated with a poor work environment climate and nurses' low job satisfaction. Methods: A multicenter, cross-sectional study will be conducted across exclusively nurse-led NLC and S&T services in public health care facilities in Italy. Data collection will involve inputs from organization or nursing managers, coordinators, head nurses, and employed nurses. Information will be gathered on organizational structure, service provision, access modalities, nurses' perceptions of their work environment, and the health care activities performed. Surveys will be distributed online to collect retrospective data in 2023 and via paper to collect 1-month prospective data about services' activities. Expected results: This study is expected to reveal HNAs in NLC and S&T, with implications for policy, resource allocation, reimbursement models, and patient outcomes, ultimately supporting healthcare reforms and enhancing nursing's visibility and impact in Italy. The findings will be essential for guiding health care resource allocation and shaping educational and regulatory policies that recognize and formalize the role of nurses in advanced practice. Policymakers could leverage the findings of this study to promote the development of standardized taxonomies, making nursing contributions more visible and measurable. Ultimately, this research will highlight the value of nursing care in NLC and S&T settings, providing an evidence base to drive policy changes that improve both health care outcomes and resource efficiency. Aims: To examine the predictability of categorical and quantitative study variables on acute stroke knowledge amongst study participants. Design: Non‐experimental, descriptive correlational. Methods: A convenience sample of registered nurses caring for adult, hospitalized patients recruited from the urban Southeast. A three‐part survey was emailed to the nurses: demographics, stroke education and experience, and the Acute Stroke Management Questionnaire. Results: Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department nurses had the highest level of stroke knowledge. Nurses reporting three or more post‐licensure education modalities had higher stroke knowledge scores than those reporting two or less. Practice setting, self‐perception of stroke knowledge, self‐identified knowledge of acute stroke management and three items related to code stroke were significantly correlated with stroke knowledge. Conclusion: Various methods of training and reinforcement of learning using varying teaching styles are effective in increasing nurses' stroke knowledge. Further stroke education is needed for nurses across the acute care setting. Implications: Future studies should explore lived experiences of nurses to gain understanding of nonquantifiable factors that nurses feel have strengthened their stroke knowledge. To observe lower-frequency gravitational waves (GWs), it is effective to utilize a large spacecraft formation baseline, spanning hundreds of thousands to millions of kilometers. To overcome the limitations of a gravitational-wave observatory (GWO) on specific orbits, a scientific observation mode and a non-scientific observation mode for GWOs are proposed. For the non-scientific observation mode, this paper designs equilateral triangle and equilateral tetrahedral array formations for a space-based GWO near a collinear libration point. A stable configuration is the prerequisite for a GWO; however, the motion near the collinear libration points is highly unstable. Therefore, the output regulation theory is applied. By leveraging the tracking aspect of the theory, the equilateral triangle and equilateral tetrahedral array formations are achieved. For an equilateral triangle array formation, two geometric configuration design methods are proposed, addressing the fuel consumption required for initialization and maintenance. To observe GWs in different directions and avoid configuration/reconfiguration, the multi-layer equilateral tetrahedral array formation is given. Additionally, the control errors are calculated. Finally, the effectiveness of the control method is demonstrated using the Sun–Earth circular-restricted three-body problem (CRTBP) and the ephemeris model located at Lagrange point L 1 . This paper explores the potential impact of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on patients' psychological states, focusing on reported mood changes post-procedure. Factors influencing the psychological state during an MRI, including claustrophobia, noise, scan duration, and fear of the unknown, are discussed. We also draw parallels with darkness therapy, a stress and depression management technique, due to the similar environment. Notably, a subset of patients reported transient improvement in depressive symptoms following an MRI, suggesting a need for further research. The paper underscores the necessity for rigorous scientific exploration of these observations to validate them and better inform patients about possible mood alterations post-MRI. Text mining enables search, extraction, categorisation and information visualisation. This study aimed to identify oral manifestations in patients with COVID-19 using text mining to facilitate extracting relevant clinical information from a large set of publications. A list of publications from the open-access COVID-19 Open Research Dataset was downloaded using keywords related to oral health and dentistry. A total of 694,366 documents were retrieved. Filtering the articles using text mining yielded 1,554 oral health/dentistry papers. The list of articles was classified into five topics after applying a Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) model. This classification was compared to the author's classification which yielded 17 categories. After a full-text review of articles in the category "Oral manifestations in patients with COVID-19", eight papers were selected to extract data. The most frequent oral manifestations were xerostomia (n = 405, 17.8%) and mouth pain or swelling (n = 289, 12.7%). These oral manifestations in patients with COVID-19 must be considered with other symptoms to diminish the risk of dentist-patient infection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Greenhouse gases (GHGs) are significant contributors to climate change, and CO2 equivalent (CO2-e) is measured to compare emissions from GHGs. The healthcare sector contributes 4.4% of global CO2-e emissions, mainly with energy consumption and, in lesser extent, waste production. In this regard, bronchoscopy procedures produce a large amount of waste and are responsible for a significant consumption of energy. Objective: We aimed at quantifying the impact on waste mass production, energy consumption, and recyclability of bronchoscopic procedures. Methods: We conducted a prospective single-centre observational study; for each type of procedure (performed with either reusable or single-use instruments), the number of items used, their weight, and recyclability were evaluated, as well as the material of which recyclable waste was made of. We then calculated the total amount of waste produced, its recyclability, energy consumption, and CO2-e produced over 10 days of activity in our Interventional Pulmonology Unit. Results: Sixty procedures generated 61,928 g of waste, of which only 15.8% was potentially recyclable. Single-use instruments generated nearly twofold more recyclable waste than reusable ones, 80% during the procedure phase. Reusable instruments generated 45% of waste during the reprocessing phase, of which 50% was recyclable. The recyclable material was totally composed of paper and plastic. During 10 days of activity, we consumed 64 kWh and produced more than 67 kg of CO2-e due to non-recyclable waste and energy consumption. Conclusions: Our results confirm the compelling need to recycle as many materials as possible, even if the amount of recyclable waste is limited. In this respect, official documents issued by international societies are urgently needed to align our activity with climate requirements and improve the sustainability of our work. The prevalence of impaired foot function and floating toes of 91 baseball players with disabled throwing shoulder or elbow were retrospectively investigated. Foot function was evaluated by foot "rock paper scissors" and floating toes were confirmed if none of the toes made contact with the mat in standing posture. The prevalence of impaired foot function and floating toes and the relationship between between them were determined. Abnormal foot function was observed in 83 players (91%); of those, 73 players (88%) also had floating toes, and the prevalence was statistically significant compared to those without it (12%) (P < 0.001). Floating toes were observed in 74 players (81%); of those, 73 players (99%) had impaired foot function, and the prevalence was also statistically significant compared to those without them (59%) (P < 0.001). Aim: This study aimed to explore the association between medication literacy and blood pressure control among hypertensive patients. Background: Blood pressure control is a challenge for global health systems. Medication literacy is essential for medication self‐management in hypertensive patients and a basis for managers to develop comprehensive intervention strategies for hypertension medication use. Design: A cross‐sectional observational study was conducted. Methods: A total of 378 hypertensive patients was selected by convenience sampling from two tertiary hospitals and four community health service centres from December 2021 to January 2022 in Changsha, China. Associations between medication literacy and blood pressure control were identified with chi‐square, independent samples t‐tests and logistic regression analyses. Results: The average medication literacy score of the hypertensive patients investigated was low. Over a third of patients had uncontrolled blood pressure. Logistic regression analysis showed that medication literacy was an influencing factor for blood pressure control rate in hypertensive patients. Conclusions: Medication literacy and blood pressure control among hypertensive patients was poor. Medication literacy was a facilitator of blood pressure control so improving medication literacy may be of value to improve blood pressure control in hypertensive patients. Traditionally, the subjective questionnaire collected from game players is regarded as a primary tool to evaluate a video game. However, the subjective evaluation result may vary due to individual differences, and it is not easy to provide real-time feedback to optimize the user experience. This paper aims to develop an objective game fun prediction system. In this system, the wearables with photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors continuously measure the heartbeat signals of game players, and the frequency domain heart rate variability (HRV) parameters can be derived from the inter-beat interval (IBI) sequence. Frequency domain HRV parameters, such as low frequency(LF), high frequency(HF), and LF/HF ratio, highly correlate with the human's emotion and mental status. Most existing works on emotion measurement during a game adopt time domain physiological signals such as heart rate and facial electromyography (EMG). Time domain signals can be easily interfered with by noises and environmental effects. The main contributions of this paper include (1) regarding the curve transition and standard deviation of LF/HF ratio as the objective game fun indicators and (2) proposing a linear model using objective indicators for game fun score prediction. The self-built dataset in this study involves ten healthy participants, comprising 36 samples. According to the analytical results, the linear model's mean absolute error (MAE) was 4.16%, and the root mean square error (RMSE) was 5.07%. Background: Low back pain (LBP) is a common health complaint and a prominent factor in the development of LBP among the working population is stress. Mostly, stress is addressed as a general problem, which is why LBP prevention programs are often imprecise. Accordingly, a closer look at the association between specific stress types and the development of LBP is necessary. Therefore, this paper aims (1) to identify the stress types most closely associated with LBP; (2) to examine the relationship between stress accumulation and LBP. Methods: n = 100 call-center workers were approached for participation. Stress levels and LBP were assessed with questionnaires (TICS, ERI, CPG, BPI) and hair cortisol levels were measured (ELISA-KIT, 3-months period). Mann-Whitney U tests were used to identify stress types most closely associated with LBP. Further, ANCOVA analysis was conducted to determine the association of the number of experienced stress types with LBP intensity and impairment. Results: Finally, data from n = 68 participants (mean age: 43.2 (± 12.8) years; 62% female) were used for presented analysis. Participants, who were affected by work-related stress showed higher pain severity (excessive demands at work: 23.6 ± 21.8 vs. 42.4 ± 25.0 (p = 0.005)) and more impairment (excessive demands at work: 13.7 ± 17.6 vs. 28.7 ± 22.3 (p = 0.003); work overload: 15.4 ± 20.4 vs. 26.3 ± 17.4 (p = 0.009)) than their less affected colleagues. Other stress types (e.g. Effort, Reward) showed no significant association with LBP. Furthermore, participants who experienced two or more of the most associated stress types simultaneously suffered from stronger pain and more impairment (p < 0.01). Conclusions: The results suggest that it is essential to divide and evaluate stress in specific domains. Furthermore, the accumulation of different stress types and the resulting physiological load should be taken into account when designing prevention and intervention programs.
