Background: Breast cancer is the most frequent female malignancy in the UK. Around 20% of cases are linked to weight gain, excess weight and health behaviours. We designed a weight gain prevention, health behaviour intervention for young women at increased risk. Methods: The study comprised a single arm observational study over 2 months testing acceptability and usability of the intervention: online group welcome event, app and private Facebook group. Females aged 18–35 years at moderate or high risk of breast cancer (>17% lifetime risk) were recruited via invite letters and social media posts. The app included behaviour change techniques and education content. Online questionnaires were completed at baseline, as well as at 1 and 2 months. We also assessed feasibility of study procedures. Results: Both recruitment methods were successful. Thirty‐five women were recruited, 26% via social media posts. Median age was 33 (interquartile range = 28.2–34.5) years, the majority (94.1%) were of White ethnicity. Thirty‐four participants were included in the analyses, of which 94% downloaded the app. Median self‐monitoring logs per participant during the study period was 10.0 (interquartile range = 4.8–28.8). App quality mean (SD) score was 3.7 (0.6) at 1 and 2 months (scale: 1–5). Eighty‐nine per cent rated the app at average or above at 1 month and 75.0% at 2 months. Nineteen women (55.9%) joined the Facebook group and there were 61 comments and 83 reactions and votes from participants during the study period. Conclusions: This first iteration of the app and intervention was well received and is suitable to progress to the next stage of refining and further testing. Highlights: The newly developed intervention that focused on weight gain prevention and health behaviour change was tested in young women at increased risk of breast cancer and was well‐received by the target population.Both recruitment methods, by mailshot and social media, were successful.The study was unable to recruit and ethnically diverse population.Future research should retest the intervention in a larger population, after making refinements. Background: Telemedicine represents an important strategy to facilitate access to medication abortion (MAB) procedures, reduces distance barriers and expands coverage to underserved communities. The aim is evaluating the self-managed MAB (provided through telemedicine as the sole intervention or in comparison to in-person care) in pregnant people at up to 12 weeks of pregnancy. Methods: A literature search was conducted using electronic databases: MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane (Central Register of Controlled Trials and Database of Systematic Reviews), LILACS, SciELO, and Google Scholar. The search was based on the Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, and Study Design (PICOS) framework, and was not restricted to any years of publication, and studies could be published in English or Spanish. Study screening and selection, risk of bias assessment, and data extraction were performed by peer reviewers. Risk of bias was evaluated with RoB 2.0 and ROBIS-I. A narrative and descriptive synthesis of the results was conducted. Meta-analyses with random-effects models were performed using Review Manager version 5.4 to calculate pooled risk differences, along with their individual 95% confidence intervals. The rate of evidence certainty was based on GRADE recommendations. Results: 21 articles published between 2011 and 2022 met the inclusion criteria. Among them, 20 were observational studies, and 1 was a randomized clinical trial. Regarding the risk of bias, 5 studies had a serious risk, 15 had a moderate risk, and 1 had an undetermined risk. In terms of the type of intervention, 7 compared telemedicine to standard care. The meta-analysis of effectiveness revealed no statistically significant differences between the two modalities of care (RD = 0.01; 95%CI 0.00, 0.02). Our meta-analyses show that there were no significant differences in the occurrence of adverse events or in patient satisfaction when comparing the two methods of healthcare delivery. Conclusion: Telemedicine is an effective and viable alternative for MAB, similar to standard care. The occurrence of complications was low in both forms of healthcare delivery. Telemedicine services are an opportunity to expand access to safe abortion services. Plain English summary: Globally, unsafe abortion causes 47,000 deaths and 5 million sexual and reproductive dysfunctions in young pregnant people due to complications of the procedure. This practice is related to barriers to accessing safe abortion services secondary to health system limitations and inequities in the distribution of resources. Telemedicine has proven to be an efficient care alternative to reduce distancing gaps, decrease waiting time and rationalize the costs derived from the procedure. Consequently, several health systems in the world use this model with differences in treatment schemes, weeks of gestation, pregnancy confirmation methods and measurement of reported outcomes. For this reason, evaluating the effectiveness and safety of self-managed medication abortion (MAB) by telemedicine is a support for decision makers who consider implementing or expanding remote care services. This systematic review integrated studies that evaluated MAB only by Telemedicine or in comparison with standard care on pregnant people with 12 weeks gestation or less. Available studies until January 2023 were chosen. Screening and selection of studies, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment were performed by expert reviewers. Aspects such as the effectiveness, safety, and satisfaction of the procedure, among other outcomes, were reviewed. A narrative and descriptive synthesis was carried out, as well as several meta-analyses of the differences in risks between Telemedicine and in-person care. The meta-analysis of studies comparing telemedicine care with standard services reveals that the type of care provided does not affect the effectiveness and safety of MAB, nor does it affect user satisfaction, follow-up, or medication adherence. Purpose: The aim of this qualitative study was to utilise the recent Theoretical Framework of Acceptability (TFA) to explore participants' acceptability of the mindfulness and exercise interventions in the MOVE-Online pain management programme (PMP) and the programmes' online delivery method. Methods: Online focus groups were carried out following the completion of the PMP. The data were analysed using template analysis in terms of the seven TFA constructs of acceptability [(i) Perceived Effectiveness, (ii) Affective Attitude, (iii) Self-Efficacy, (iv) Ethicality, (v) Burden, (vi) Opportunity Costs and (vii) Intervention Coherence]. Results: Twenty-one participants took part in the focus groups. Five of the seven TFA constructs of acceptability were identified in the analysis. The participants perceived the intervention to have been effective at achieving the goals of the PMP (TFA construct: (i) Perceived Effectiveness), to have supported their emotional management ((ii) Affective Attitude), promoted long term self-directed engagement ((iii) Self-Efficacy), fostered a valued group environment ((iv) Ethicality) and the online delivery of the programme reduced the physical burden associated with participation at an in-person PMP ((v) Burden). Conclusion: The results of the study supports the utility of the TFA as a tool to explore the multi-dimensional construct of acceptability for the participants in the MOVE-Online programme. IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATION: This investigation contributes to the understanding of acceptability as a complex multidimensional construct and emphasises the importance of considering the multiple dimensions when evaluating participants interpretations of novel complex interventions. Results suggest that participants found a pain management programme delivered in a live, online, interactive format to be acceptable, and it may be useful for rehabilitation professionals as an option for chronic pain management. Aim: To explore the prospective acceptability of an implementation leadership training programme prototype for nurse managers in China to implement evidence‐based practices, from the perspectives of potential programme participants and deliverers. Design: A qualitative descriptive study was conducted in Spring 2022 at three tertiary hospitals in Hunan, China. Methods: We conducted individual semi‐structured interviews with unit‐level nurse managers (n = 14), including 12 potential participants, and two potential deliverers that have been involved in developing the programme prototype. Interview questions and thematic analysis were guided by the Theoretical Framework of Acceptability. Results: After reviewing the programme content, potential participants and deliverers reported that unit nurse managers would benefit from engaging in the programme, acknowledging that the programme fit with professional nursing values for implementing research evidence. They expressed positive views about being involved in producing academic papers through the training process, and interactive multi‐modal training activities such as group work, experience‐sharing and coaching. Seven participants were not very confident about being fully engaged in the training, as they could not navigate the English research literature. Both participants and deliverers highlighted factors that would influence their participation, including time constraints, the impact of the COVID‐19 pandemic, and support from senior organizational leadership. Conclusions: The training programme prototype was perceived to be useful and acceptable. The multimodal training activities were considered a strength and managers expressed an interest in writing academic papers about their implementation processes. Support from senior hospital leaders and programme deliverers was identified as critical to the training programme's success. Impact: The study helps understand nurse managers' perceptions and concerns of participating in an implementation leadership training programme and could inform the development and refinement of similar programmes in various nursing contexts globally. Eye-gaze technology provides access to a computer through the control of eye movements, thus allowing students with severe motor and communication difficulties to communicate and participate in curriculum activities and leisure; however, few studies have investigated whether any challenges exist to its implementation. This study examines the feasibility for teachers, parents, and therapists of applying an eye-gaze technology intervention for students with severe motor and communication difficulties in everyday settings. A mixed-method design was applied, focusing on the acceptability, demands, implementation, and practicality of the technology applications. Data was collected from 16 participants who assisted five students using eye-gaze technology in a previous 6-month intervention. The intervention comprised (a) use of eye-gaze devices with individualized content; and (b) services including training in use, team meetings, and bi-monthly support on implementation problems. The results showed that the participants perceived the technology as appropriate to enhance interaction and understanding of the students' learning and communication messages. Portable and easy-to-adjust systems were crucial to apply eye-gaze technology in different contexts. Improving eye-gaze services was required to afford in-service education, follow-up services, and loaning programs for sustainable implementation. Introduction: Despite substantial investment in improving healthcare among adolescents in low- and middle-income countries, barriers to access and utilization of services persist, especially to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. In response to adolescents' health service needs due to their vulnerability, interventions aimed at improving access and utilization of sexual and reproductive health services have been implemented in specific regions of Zambia. To highlight progress in the access and the overall delivery of services in Zambia, in the wake of a system-level funding mechanism, this paper aims to understand the accessibility, availability, acceptability and quality (AAAQ) of health services provided to young people. Materials and methods: In a qualitative case study, 48 discussions-32 individual interviews with stakeholders and 16 focus group discussions, consisting of 128 male and female adolescents were conducted in six districts from Eastern, Southern and Muchinga provinces of Zambia. Interviews were audio-recorded, recordings transcribed verbatim, and transcripts were analysed using deductive thematic analysis, using the AAAQ framework and Atun's framework on integration, as a guide to reporting the findings. Results: We found that adolescents knew of and had access to common commodities and services-male condoms, health education and HIV counselling and testing. However, availability was affected by access-related barriers such as frequent stock-outs and insufficiently trained healthcare providers. In addition, accessibility was more restricted during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown and compounded by the low acceptability of SRH service among adolescents across all contexts. This led to the use of alternatives such as herbal medicine and maintained common myths and misconceptions. The overall quality was marred by the lack of dedicated spaces for adolescent health services and the lack of information, education and communication (IEC) materials in some spaces. Conclusion: While it was noted that some services were available for adolescents in all the study sites, numerous barriers inhibited access to these services and had an impact on the quality-of-service provision. With the added restriction to SRH service asses for young people, due to the low acceptability of adolescent SRH service use, the overall integration of adolescent SRH interventions into routine service provision was low and can be improved by targeting contextual barriers and maintaining best practices. Background: The Manchester Intermittent versus Daily Diet App Study (MIDDAS) tested the feasibility and potential efficacy of two remotely delivered low‐energy diet (LED) programmes (800 kcal/day) to support weight loss and remission of type 2 diabetes: continuous [CLED] (8 weeks of daily LED) and intermittent [ILED] (2 days of LED/week for 28 weeks). Understanding participant experiences can help us to understand the acceptability of LED programmes to people with type 2 diabetes, informing future programme development and implementation. Methods: Twenty participants (10 CLED; 10 ILED) took part in interviews conducted at the end of the active weight loss phase (CLED week 12, ILED week 28). Interviews were transcribed and analysed thematically using the template analysis approach, with an a priori focus on acceptability. Four themes are presented: prospective acceptability, intervention coherence and perceived effectiveness, opportunity costs and self‐efficacy. Results: Both remotely supported CLED and ILED interventions appeared acceptable to participants. CLED participants found the rapid initial weight loss phase comparatively easy and highly motivating but expressed more concerns around weight maintenance. ILED participants found the more gradual weight loss initially frustrating but expressed greater confidence in their longer‐term adherence. The importance of continued individualised support from healthcare professionals was emphasised, and evidence of weight loss and improvement in other medical markers through monitoring via the mobile phone app was useful. Conclusion: Different approaches to remotely delivered LEDs appear acceptable; therefore asking patients which approach may be more acceptable to them may be a useful way to offer individualised and tailored support. Key points: We interviewed people with type 2 diabetes (T2D) who had taken part in a randomised controlled trial comparing a continuous low‐energy diet (CLED) and an intermittent low‐energy diet (ILED) about how acceptable they found the interventions. We found that both diets appear to be acceptable to people with T2D. Discussing different (CLED/ILED) approaches and their potential benefits and challenges may better prepare patients for a LED, although further research to test the efficacy of ILED for diabetes remission is still required. Although almost every study evaluating psychological interventions includes the two components of acceptability and effectivity, their relationship is rarely examined. The current study closes this gap by performing secondary analyses of the intervention program 'empCARE'. The goal was to analyze the relationship between these two evaluation components. The sample consists of 309 nurses (intervention group n = 172; control group n = 137). Data were collected before the training and longitudinally three times after the training. Psychological distress was assessed using the Symptom Checklist (SCL-90-R), and the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory. Personality traits were assessed using the HEXACO-60 and the Toronto Empathy Questionnaire. Acceptability was assessed using statements concerning participants' subjective evaluation of the training. The results show that the intervention program was effective. Acceptability, measured only in the intervention group, was quite high. However, no connection was found between effectivity and acceptability. On the contrary, the results show that acceptability assessments depend more on personality factors than on intervention success. Researchers should examine the relationship between acceptability and effectivity in their data. It does not seem appropriate to rely on acceptability measurements as the sole evaluation criterion capturing the success of an intervention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Context: Risk stratification has been suggested as a strategy for improving cancer screening. Any changes to existing programmes must be acceptable to the public. Objective: This study aimed to explore the preferences and considerations of individuals relating to the introduction of different risk‐based strategies to determine eligibility for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening. Study Design: Participants completed a discrete choice experiment (DCE) within online interviews. Nine conjoint‐analysis tasks were created, each with two potential CRC screening programmes. The attributes included personal risk of CRC, screening invitation strategy and impact. Participants chose between programmes while thinking aloud and sharing their thoughts. Transcripts were analysed using codebook thematic analysis. Participants: Twenty participants based in England aged 40–79 years without previous cancer history or medical expertise. Results: When choosing between programmes, participants first and primarily looked to prioritise saving lives. The harms associated with screening were viewed as a surprise but also felt by most to be inevitable; the benefits frequently outweighed, therefore, harms were considered less important. Risk stratification using individual characteristics was considered a nuanced approach to healthcare, which tended to be preferred over the age‐alone model. Detailed personal risk information could be taken more seriously than non‐personalised information to motivate behaviour change. Although it had minimal impact on decision‐making, not diverting resources for screening from elsewhere was valued. Individuals who chose not to provide health information were considered irresponsible, while it was important that those with no information to provide should not lose out. Conclusion: Risk‐stratified CRC screening is generally aligned with public preferences, with decisions between possible stratification strategies dominated by saving lives. Even if attributes including risk factors, risk stratification strategy and risk communication contributed less to the overall decision to select certain programmes, some levels more clearly fulfilled public values; therefore, all these factors should be taken into consideration when redesigning and communicating CRC screening programmes. The relationship between a patient and their therapist plays a crucial role in patient engagement. While Computerized Cognitive Training (CCT) may assist in preserving cognitive skills in cases of aging, dementia or acquired brain injuries, its effectiveness has not been definitively proven. Improving user engagement, acceptance, and software usability could aid in addressing this issue. The present study aims to identify potential obstacles and facilitators by examining the perspectives of rehabilitation professionals on the current usage of CCT software. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 16 rehabilitation professionals, familiar with a CCT software. The data were transcribed and followed by an independent iterative thematic analysis. Two major themes were identified: (1) facilitating factors and (2) difficulties related to use. The main obstacles were difficulties related to the computerized nature of the exercises, technology use, understanding the software and general learning difficulties. The main facilitators were the ecological and novel nature of the exercises, and the adaptability of the difficulty levels. The complexity of the CCT presents challenges for its usage by rehabilitation professionals, which in turn can impede patient utilization as well. To address this issue and promote sustainable use of the software, providing instruction delivery to facilitate learning and understanding of the CCT is essential. Additionally, creating a standardized foundation that therapists can refer to for guidance may also aid in optimizing the software's usage. It is recommended to utilize a model for CCT acceptability and acceptance in developing these solutions to enhance patient engagement. Computerized Cognitive Training (CCT) may help sustain cognitive skills or delay its decline due to causes such as aging, dementia or acquired brain injuries. User engagement, user acceptance and software usability could help address these issues. The relationship between a patient and their therapist plays a crucial role in patient engagement. Difficulties related to using and understanding a CCT software could affect behavioral intention/use. Rehabilitation professionals may face difficulties using CCT software, which could in turn, hinder patient utilization. Facilitating learning and understanding of the software through instruction delivery to increase acceptance could respond to the existing obstacles. A model for CCT acceptability/acceptance may be useful for improving the development of these solutions, to optimize patient engagement. The Tu'Washindi intervention addressed intimate partner violence (IPV) and relationship dynamics to increase PrEP use among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Siaya County, Kenya. We evaluated feasibility and acceptability in a cluster-randomized trial in six DREAMS Safe Spaces. The multilevel intervention, delivered over 6 months, included three components delivered by DREAMS staff with support from the study team: an 8-session structured support club; community sensitization of male partners; and a couples PrEP education and health fair ("Buddy Day"). Feasibility and acceptability assessments included implementation process measures, questionnaires, and focus group discussions with AGYWs and post-intervention questionnaires with intervention providers. The study included 103 AGYWs aged 17 to 24 (N = 49 intervention), with 97% retention. Median age was 22, 54% were married, and 84% were mothers. At enrollment, 45% used PrEP and 61% reported lifetime IPV. All intervention participants attended at least one support club session (mean = 5.2 of 8) and 90% attended Buddy Day. At 6 months, most participants perceived Tu'Washindi to be effective: all agreed (with 54% reporting "strongly agree") that the intervention improved partner communication and 60% agreed they were better able to gain partner support for their PrEP use. Providers believed the intervention resonated with community values. Tu'Washindi was highly acceptable and feasible and it was perceived by AGYW participants and providers as being effective in improving partner relationships and supporting PrEP use. Objective: The main aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of using a GPS tracker to mitigate the risks associated with wandering for people with dementia and those caring for them and further evaluate the impact of trackers in delaying 24-hour care and the potential for reducing the involvement of support services, such as the police, in locating patients. Methods: We recruited forty-five wearers-carers dyads, and a GPS tracker was issued to each participant. Dyads completed pre-and post-outcome questionnaires after six months, and a use-log of experiences was maintained through monthly monitoring calls. At six months, focus groups were conducted with 14 dyads where they shared ideas and learning. Data analyses were performed on outcome questionnaires, use-log analysis, and focus groups discussion. Results: A 24% (N = 14) attrition rate was recorded, with 76% (N = 34) of the participants completing pre- and post-outcome questionnaires, of which 41% (N = 14) attended four focus group meetings. Participants reported enhanced independence for wearers as fewer restrictions were placed on their movements, peace of mind and reduced burden for the carers with less need to involve police or social services, and delays in 24-hour care. Conclusion: The results supported the feasibility of routine implementation of GPS trackers in dementia care with clear guidance, monitoring and support to family carers on safe use. This could delay admission into 24-hour care as wearers and carers have a greater sense of safety and are better connected should help be required. Studies with larger sample sizes, diverse participants and health economic analysis are needed to develop the evidence base further ahead of the routine implementation of GPS trackers in health and social care services. Background: Changing the food environment is an important public health lever for encouraging sustainable food choices. Targeting the availability of vegetarian main meals served in cafeterias substantially affects food choice, but acceptability has never been assessed. We examined the effects of an availability intervention at a French university cafeteria on students' main meal choices, meal offer satisfaction and liking. Methods: A four-week controlled trial was conducted in a university cafeteria in Dijon, France. During the two-week control period, vegetarian main meals constituted 24% of the offer. In the subsequent two-week intervention period, this proportion increased to 48%, while all the other menu items remained unchanged. Students were not informed of the change. Student choices were tracked using production data, and daily paper ballots were used to assess student satisfaction with the meal offer and liking of the main meal they chose (score range [1;5]). Nutritional quality, environmental impact, and cost of production of meal choices were calculated for each lunchtime. Food waste was measured over 4 lunchtimes during control and intervention periods. An online questionnaire collected student feedback at the end of the study. Results: Doubling availability of vegetarian main meals significantly increased the likelihood of choosing vegetarian options (OR = 2.57, 95% CI = [2.41; 2.74]). Responses of the paper ballots (n = 18,342) indicated slight improvements in meal offer satisfaction from 4.05 ± 0.92 to 4.07 ± 0.93 (p = 0.028) and in liking from 4.09 ± 0.90 to 4.13 ± 0.92 (p < 0.001) during control and intervention periods, respectively. The end-of-study questionnaire (n = 510) revealed that only 6% of students noticed a change the availability of vegetarian main meals. The intervention led to a decrease in the environmental impact of the main meals chosen, a slight decrease in nutritional quality, a slight increase in meal costs and no change in food waste. Conclusions: Doubling availability of vegetarian main meals in a university cafeteria resulted in a twofold increase in their selection, with students reporting being more satisfied and liking the main meals more during the intervention period. These results suggest that serving an equal proportion of vegetarian and nonvegetarian main meals could be considered in French university cafeterias to tackle environmental issues. The HIV epidemics in Cambodia is concentrated in key populations (KPs). Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) has been officially approved in the country since 2019. However, its use may still be controversial after a PrEP clinical trial was interrupted in Cambodia after being deemed unethical in 2004. In this context, it was necessary to evaluate PrEP acceptability and administration preferences of KPs in Cambodia, with a view to increasing roll-out and uptake. We conducted a qualitative study in 2022 comprising six focus groups and four semi-structured individual interviews with transgender women, men who have sex with men, male entertainment workers, venue-based female entertainment workers (FEW), street-based FEW, and PrEP users who participated in a PrEP pilot study that started in 2019. Overall, KPs positively perceived PrEP, with some reservations. They preferred daily, community-based PrEP to event-driven, hospital-based PrEP, and highlighted that injectable PrEP would be a potential option if it became available in Cambodia. We recommend (i) proposing different PrEP regimens and PrEP delivery-models to broaden PrEP acceptability and adherence in Cambodia (ii) increasing the number of community-based organisations and improving the services they offer, (iii) rolling out injectable PrEP when it becomes officially available, and (iv) improving PrEP side effects information. Context It is important to understand the sensory acceptability of biofortified food products among target population groups if biofortification is to be realized as a sustainable strategy for mitigation of micronutrient deficiencies, able to be scaled up and applied through programs. Objective This systemic review aims to summarize and synthesize the sensory acceptability of conventionally bred iron-, zinc-, and provitamin A–biofortified food products. Data Sources MEDLINE (PubMed), AGRICOLA, AgEcon, CABI Abstracts (Web of Science), and organizational websites (eg, those of HarvestPlus and CGIAR and their partners) were searched for relevant articles. No access to any market research that may have been internally conducted for the commercial biofortified food products was available. Data Extraction This review identified articles measuring the sensory acceptability of conventionally bred biofortified food products. Extraction of the hedonic ratings of food products was performed. Data Analysis An "Acceptability Index %" was defined based on hedonic scoring to determine an overall rating, and used to categorize biofortified food products as "acceptable" (≥70%) or "not acceptable" (<70%). Additionally, this review narratively synthesized studies using methods other than hedonic scoring for assessing sensory acceptability. Conclusions Forty-nine studies assessed the acceptability of 10 biofortified crops among children and adults, in mostly rural, low-income settings across Africa, Latin America, and India; food products made from mineral and provitamin A–biofortified food products were generally acceptable. Compared with studies on provitamin–A biofortified food products, few studies (1 to 2 each) on mineral-enhanced crops such as rice, cowpeas, lentils, and wheat were found, limiting the generalizability of the findings. Similarly, few studies examined stored biofortified food products. Few commercial food products have so far been developed, although new varieties of crops are being continuously tested and released globally. Certain crop varieties were found to be acceptable while others were not, suggesting that particular varieties should be prioritized for scale-up. To improve water access while working and contribute to fewer heat-related illnesses (HRI), backpack hydration systems were provided to over 200 farmworkers to use during the 2022 growing season. Acceptability of the water intake intervention was assessed among farmworkers in eastern North Carolina, USA. With a pre-established community–university partnership, the acceptability of the intervention was assessed using a cross-sectional survey. The backpack brand selected included a 3-liter water bladder and attached drinking hose. Data analysis included descriptive and correlation statistics. Among 47 male, migrant farmworkers, most (90%) reported the hydration backpack to be acceptable or completely acceptable to workplace fluid intake. Most (53%) reported using the backpack some of the time, compared to 28% who used it often. The participants reported an average of 4.8 (SD 2.2) liters of water intake from the backpack on a typical workday. Most reported the backpack improved the quantity and frequency of their water consumption. This study was an important first step in implementation of hydration backpack systems as an HRI-preventative intervention among farmworkers. This paper is aiming to present two studies investigating attitudes of older people towards different technologies to break their social isolation and investigating the impacts of Immersive Virtual Reality (IVR) on physical and mental dimensions. The first study, based on focus groups conducted with 23 older people (aged from 65 to 93 years-old) allowed to collect attitudes and opinions of older people about different technologies to help them to break social isolation. The second study, based on an experiment conducted with 42 older people (aged from 63 to 85 years-old) allowed to investigate the impact of a specific Immersive Virtual Reality (IVR) on physical and mental dimensions. The first study confirm that Immersive Virtual Reality (IVR) can be a relevant digital tool for elderly people according to them, i.e. a digital tool perceived as useful, usable and acceptable. The second study demonstrates that use of a specific Immersive Virtual Reality (IVR) system can reduce the perception of social isolation and can have positive impacts on physical dimensions such as the weight and the waist circumference. This research explored the acceptability of an evidence-informed healthy relationships program with newcomer youth at three newcomer-serving agencies. Utilizing mixed methods in an embedded multiple case study design, qualitative and quantitative data were collected from seven facilitators, three administrators, and 20 youth recipients from three agencies. Findings suggested the program is promising in terms of acceptability and fit as facilitators and youth recipients enjoyed the program and felt the content was relatable to youths' experiences. While all modern contraceptive methods are available for free or at minimal cost in Nepal, contraceptive devices in Japan are mainly limited to condoms, requiring Nepalese migrant women to rely on their male partners for their use. Therefore, Nepalese migrants often seek contraceptive devices from Nepal or request friends or relatives to send them from their home country. This study aimed to identify the gaps and challenges associated with Nepalese migrants' needs for sexual and reproductive health services (SRHSs), particularly contraceptives, before and after their migration to Japan. A mixed-methods study was adopted, an explanatory sequential design (ESD) combining quantitative and qualitative approaches, and data were collected from 186 Nepalese migrants (80 females and 106 males) through an online survey and from two focus-group discussions (FGDs) conducted among 24 participants (14 females and 10 males). This study highlighted the obstacles faced by Nepalese migrants in accessing contraceptive services, such as limited options, language barriers, and high costs. The study also revealed the importance of pre-departure training in Nepal and organizing post-arrival training in Japan to increase Nepalese migrants' awareness of the SRHSs available in Japan, thereby helping to prevent SRH-related health problems, including unintended pregnancies and abortions, in Japan. Background: The burden of severe mental illness is high in low-resource settings like Uganda. But most affected people are not treated due to inadequacy of sectoral funding and trained mental health professionals. Medication has hitherto been the main method of treatment for severe mental illness worldwide. However, there is a growing realization that the use of community-based resource-oriented interventions like the family involvement are more effective and suitable for under-resourced settings. But there is a paucity of information about its applicability in Uganda. Methods: We based the intervention at the mental health unit of Masaka Regional Referral Hospital, involving 30 patients with SMI, 60 family members and friends, and 6 mental health clinicians. It was delivered through regular monthly meetings of 5 patients, 10 caretakers, and 2 clinicians each, for six months. A purposive sample of 15 patients, 15 caretakers, and 6 clinicians participated in this qualitative evaluation study after 6 months. Data was collected using in-depth interviews. Atlas.Ti (version 7.0.82) computer software was used in data analysis. Both priori and grounded codes were used to code data. Results: We evaluated perceived feasibility, acceptability and impact of the intervention in the Ugandan context. The findings were largely positive. Feasibility was mainly driven by: the training of group facilitators, field support and supervision, prior relationship between participants, and scheduling and timing of meetings. Acceptability was supported by: anticipation of knowledge about mental illness, process and content of meetings, safety of meeting environment, and choice of participants and venue. Impact was majorly in domains of: knowledge about mental illness, psychosocial aspects of mental illness, networking and bonding, and patients' quality of life. The success of the intervention would further be enhanced by its decentralization and homogenized composition of groups. Conclusions: The intervention promises to spur improvement in the following main aspects of mental health services: accessibility since the meeting environment is more neutral and friendlier than the clinical setup; knowledge of mental illness; recognition of the important role of the family in management of mental illness; adoption of holistic approaches to mental illness; and quality of life of patients. Aerobic exercise training programs decrease blood pressure in individuals with resistant hypertension. However, participants' experiences regarding exercise training participation are unknown and often undervalued. Therefore, participant's experiences and program acceptability of the exercise arm of the EnRicH trial, a randomized clinical trial investigating the effect of a 12-week aerobic exercise training program in individuals with resistant hypertension were analysed. An exploratory qualitative study was conducted with twenty individuals with resistant hypertension (11 males, mean age 58.9 ± 8.9 years), after the exercise program. Four focus group interviews were performed to explore participants' perspectives. The interviews were digitally audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim, and subjected to thematic analysis. Five themes emerged from the data analyses: 1) main impacts of participating in the exercise program; 2) facilitators of adherence; 3) perceived barriers; 4) perception of the program structure; and 5) global satisfaction with the program. Positive physical and emotional changes were reported, associated with reduced perceived stress and irritability, and decreased blood pressure. Adherence to the exercise program was facilitated by personalized supervision and feedback, the personal commitment to attend the training sessions, and different schedule options. Lack of motivation, peer support, physical health limitations, and difficulty in conciliating schedules were identified as barriers to the maintenance of exercise training after the program. The qualitative analysis demonstrates the acceptability of the program. Peer and health professional's support, commitment to health professionals, and boosting individual-perceived advantages are key-points to promote participants adherence. To investigate the acceptability and user experience of an in-hospital endurance training program based on the Virtual Park, a semi-immersive Virtual Reality (VR) system for patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Materials and methods Patients performed 20 min of cycling two times/day for around ten days. The evaluation included adherence, exercise capacity, physical performance, and user experience. Fourteen patients (6 F/8 M; age = 71.29 ± 6.93 years) with mild/moderate COPD participated. The adherence rate was satisfying: 85.71% of patients attended the program without adverse events; the individual attendance rate (86.85% ± 27.43) was also high. The exercise capacity assessed before and after the training significantly improved in our group (6MWT pre-post: t(11)= −5.040, p < 0.05), as happens in standard PR programs. The physical performance metrics of each session indicate that all participants could sustain the proposed training protocol over the whole period. Patients judged the VR experience positively (User Experience Questionnaire = 1.84 ± 0.22) and were highly engaged in the activity for the whole period (Short Flow State Scale pre-post: 4.61 ± 0.27/4.40 ± 0.36). Our preliminary results open the possibility for further investigations on long-term motivation and clinical effectiveness of more immersive VR interventions for COPD. The Virtual Park system is specifically designed for COPD, allows personalized endurance training in compliance with official clinical recommendations, while providing a semi-immersive virtual reality experience of a bicycle ride in a park. Patients reported a positive experience after two weeks of training with the Virtual Park cycling system; they were highly engaged in the activity for the whole period and across multiple sessions. Background: This study's aims are to: (1) Compare the acceptability and feasibility of five types of implementation strategies that could be deployed to increase the reach of evidence-based practices (EBPs) with revenue from policies that earmark taxes for behavioral health services, and (2) Illustrate how definitions of implementation strategies and measures of acceptability and feasibility can be used in policy-focused implementation science research. Methods: Web-based surveys of public agency and community organization professionals involved with earmarked tax policy implementation were completed in 2022-2023 (N = 211, response rate = 24.9%). Respondents rated the acceptability and feasibility of five types of implementation strategies (dissemination, implementation process, integration, capacity-building, and scale-up). Aggregate acceptability and feasibility scores were calculated for each type of strategy (scoring range 4-20). Analyses of variance compared scores across strategies and between organizational actor types. Findings: For acceptability, capacity-building strategies had the highest rating (M= 16.3, SD= 3.0), significantly higher than each of the four other strategies, p = . 004), and scale-up strategies had the lowest rating (M= 15.6). For feasibility, dissemination strategies had the highest rating (M= 15.3, significantly higher than threeof the other strategies, p = .002) and scale-up strategies had the lowest rating (M= 14.4). Conclusions: Capacity-building and dissemination strategiesmay bewell-received and readily deployed by policy implementers to support EBPs implementation with revenue fromtaxes earmarked for behavioral health services. Autistic youth are at high risk of depression, but there are few psychological interventions that have been specifically designed for use with this population. Behavioural activation (BA) is a particularly promising approach for autistic adolescents, having an established evidence-base for the treatment of depression in non-autistic people, and with a strong focus on behavioural, rather than cognitive change, which is a challenge for some autistic people. In this study, we worked with autistic adolescents and clinicians to co-design a BA-informed intervention to be delivered in an online format. We then conducted a pilot case-series with seven autistic adolescents with depression. Our focus was on establishing the acceptability and feasibility of the intervention but clinical outcomes on both self- and parent-reported symptoms of depression and anxiety are also presented. Our results indicate the intervention to be acceptable and feasible for autistic adolescents, with six out of seven participants being retained to the end of the intervention. Qualitative feedback indicated that all participants found the intervention a positive experience and would recommend it to others. Similarly, all participants found the online format acceptable, with 64% preferring this format to face-to-face therapy. Qualitative feedback and suggestions for refinement will also be discussed. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is an effective HIV prevention tool, recommended for persons at substantial risk for HIV, such as female sex workers (FSW) and men who have sex with men (MSM). We present Morocco's and the Middle East/North Africa's first PrEP demonstration project. Our pilot aimed to assess the feasibility and acceptability of a community-based PrEP program for FSW and MSM in Morocco's highest HIV prevalence cities: Agadir, Marrakech, and Casablanca. From May to December 2017, 373 eligible participants engaged in a 5–9 month program with daily oral TDF/FTC and clinic visits. Of these, 320 initiated PrEP, with 119 retained until the study's end. We report an 86% PrEP uptake, 37% overall retention, and 78% retention after 3 months. No seroconversions occurred during follow-up. These results underscore PrEP's need and acceptability among MSM and FSW and demonstrate the effectiveness of a community-based PrEP program in Morocco. Introduction: Telemonitoring has been proposed as an effective method to support integrated care for older people with hypertension and type 2 diabetes. This paper examines acceptability of telemontioring, its role in supporting integrated care, and identifies scale-up barriers. Methods: A concurrent triangulation mixed-methods study, including in-depth interviews (n = 29) and quantitative acceptability tool (n = 55) was conducted among individuals who underwent a 12-month telemonitoring routine. The research was guided by the Theoretical Framework of Acceptability. Interviews were analysed using template content analysis (TCA). Results: TCA identified seven domains of acceptability, with twenty-one subthemes influencing it positively or negatively. In the quantitative survey, acceptability was high across all seven domains with an overall score of 4.4 out of 5. Urban regions showed higher acceptability than rural regions (4.5 vs. 4.3), with rural participants perceiving initial training and participation effort as significantly more burdensome than their urban counterparts. Discussion: Patients described several instances where telemonitoring supported self-management, education, treatment, and identification elements of the integrated care package. However, there were barriers that may limit its further scale-up. Conclusion: For further scale-up, it is important to screen patients for monitoring eligibility, adapt telemonitoring devices to elderly needs, combine telemonitoring with health education, involve family members, and establish follow-up programmes. Doxycycline postexposure prophylaxis (doxy-PEP) reduces sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender women (TGW). In a clinical trial of doxy-PEP, we sought to assess acceptability, impact, and meaning of doxy-PEP use among MSM/TGW. We conducted semistructured, in-depth 1:1 interviews with MSM and TGW enrolled in the intervention arm of the Doxy-PEP study. We queried motivations for and meaning of use, attitudes, beliefs, adherence, effect on sexual behaviors, and partner, community, and structural factors related to use. We coded interview transcripts into content areas, followed by thematic analysis. We interviewed 44 participants (median age 38), 2% were TGW, 17% Black, 61% White, 30% Hispanic, and 45% persons with HIV. We identified three overarching themes. First, participants found doxy-PEP acceptable, and believed it was effective based on their history of STIs, easy to adhere to, and acceptable to sex partners. Second, doxy-PEP benefited their quality of life and mental health, offering "peace of mind" by reducing their anxiety about acquisition or unwitting transmission of STIs. Participants reported feeling more "in control" of preventing STIs, and positive about supporting their personal, partner, and community health. Third, impact on sexual behavior was variable, with most reporting no change or a brief initial change. Participants in a multi-site clinical trial of doxycycline for STI prevention perceived it to be efficacious, and that it provided quality-of-life benefits, including reduced anxiety and sense of control over sexual health. Background: The interdisciplinary realm of medical humanities explores narratives and experiences that can enhance medical education for physicians through perspective-taking and reflective practice. However, there is a gap in comprehension regarding its appropriateness at the postgraduate level, especially when utilising art therapists as faculty. This study aims to assess the acceptability of an innovative art therapy-focused educational initiative among junior doctors during a palliative care rotation, with the goal of cultivating empathy and promoting well-being. Methods: A qualitative research project was conducted at the Division of Supportive and Palliative Care (DSPC) in the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS). The study involved the recruitment of junior doctors who had successfully completed a three-month palliative care rotation program, spanning from January 2020 to April 2021. In a single small-group session lasting 1.5 h, with 3 to 4 participants each time, the individuals participated in activities such as collage making, group reflection, and sharing of artistic creations. These sessions were facilitated by an accredited art therapist and a clinical psychologist, focusing on themes related to empathy and wellbeing. To assess the acceptability of the program, two individual interviews were conducted three months apart with each participant. An independent research assistant utilised a semi-structured question guide that considered affective attitude, burden, perceived effectiveness, coherence, and self-efficacy. Thematic analysis of the transcribed data was then employed to scrutinise the participants' experiences. Results: A total of 20 individual interviews were completed with 11 participants. The three themes identified were lack of pre-existing knowledge of the humanities, promotors, and barriers to program acceptability. Conclusions: The participants have mixed perceptions of the program's acceptability. While all completed the program in its entirety, the acceptability of the program is impeded by wider systemic factors such as service and manpower needs. It is vital to address these structural limitations as failing to do so risks skewing current ambivalence towards outright rejection of future endeavours to integrate humanities programs into medical education. Self-directed bibliotherapy interventions can be effective means of psychological support for individuals with cancer, yet mixed findings as to the efficacy of these interventions indicate the need for further research. We investigated the experience of individuals with cancer after using a new self-help book, based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Ten participants with cancer (nine females and one male, 40–89 years old) were given access to a bibliotherapy self-help ACT-based book and participated in post-intervention semi-structured interviews. Five themes were generated from reflexive thematic analysis: (1) The value of bibliotherapy (2) Timing is important (3) Resonating with cancer experiences (4) Tools of the book (5) ACT in action. The book was found to be acceptable (self-directed, accessible, understandable content, good responsiveness to exercises) and feasible (easy to use, ACT-consistent). Although not explicitly evaluated, participants' reports indicated defusion, present moment awareness, and consideration of values, as the ACT processes that contributed to adjustment, via helping them to regain control over their lives and become more present within the moment. Introduction: Many organizations are developing new contraceptive products and approaches that promote self-care including a microarray patch (MAP) that has the potential for self-administration with appropriate training. We studied women's perceptions of the MAP technology with the primary goal of providing feedback on product attributes to inform early technical design decisions regarding various MAP contraceptive products in development by MAP developers. Methods: Our study consisted of a qualitative phase with in-person In-Depth Interviews (IDIs) with a total of 60 women of reproductive age (WRA) and quantitative surveys, via face-to-face computer-assisted interviews of a total of 927 women in Ghana, Kenya and Uganda. Women's perceptions on 12 attributes of the MAP were assessed through written descriptions, a profile, and visual stimuli such as graphics and images. Results: Overall, the most widely preferred attribute set included: a hand-applied MAP, utilizing one circular patch, with a sticky backing, no larger than 2 cm diameter in size, applied by self, to the arm, offering sensory feedback (clicking sound and/or color change signals) to confirm enough pressure, successful application and removal, lasting 6 months with up to 12 months return to natural state of fertility. There is space to allow for variation in MAP designs (including the use of an applicator or provider administered MAP) if the design promotes and reflects the needs and expectations of users and providers. Discussion: The contraceptive MAP had a high and broad level of appeal amongst all groups of women who participated in the study and has a strong value proposition around important contraceptive needs such as ease of use, convenience, and discretion. Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is a comprehensive and multidisciplinary secondary prevention care in coronary heart disease (CHD). There are barriers at the patient and health system levels that prevent CR from being utilized. Cardiac telerehabilitation led by nurses (Ne-CTR) can alleviate the obstacles to participation in CR. A patient perspective can improve CR access. This study was the first pre-program investigation to clarify the status of knowledge and participation in CTR. We sought to clarify the acceptability, the reasons for rejection, the desired form, components, and associated factors with the components needed for (Ne-CTR) in patients with CHD. The study aimed to help develop a protocol for Ne-CTR for Chinese patients with CHD. A cross-sectional study was conducted between 2020 and 2021. Hospitals in four provinces in China were included. The participants were 671 patients with CHD in hospitals located in three regions of China. A self-administered questionnaire collected information about demographics, knowledge, and participation in CTR, acceptability, preferred medium, and components of Ne-CTR. Student's t- test, analysis of variance, and multiple linear regression analyzed the factors associated with component needs. All the analyses were conducted using IBM SPSS version 25.0. Most participants (n = 434, 66.77%) had a poor understanding and participation in CTR. In addition, 65.38% (n = 439) of participants were willing to accept the Ne-CTR program, and 43.56% (n = 98) identified safety as reasons for not accepting such a program. In the group accepting Ne-CTR, 35% chose hospital-designed professional applications as a medium for Ne-CTR when offered. Education (4.44 ± 1.056) and drug information (4.44 ± 1.040) had the highest average need score. Education, monthly income, marital status, previous CTR participation, and health insurance were associated with the demand level scores of Ne-CTR. This study demonstrated high levels of need for Ne-CTR among patients with CHD and identified the desired medium, components, and associated factors of Ne-CTR. Aims Heart failure (HF) is a common cause of mortality and (re)hospitalizations. The NWE-Chance project explored the feasibility of providing hospitalizations at home (HH) supported by a newly developed digital health platform. The aim of this study was to explore the perceived usability by healthcare professionals (HCPs) of a digital platform in addition to HH for HF patients. Methods and results A prospective, international, multicentre, single-arm interventional study was conducted. Sixty-three patients and 22 HCPs participated. The HH consisted of daily home visits by the nurse and use of the platform, consisting of a portable blood pressure device, weight scale, pulse oximeter, a wearable chest patch to measure vital signs (heart rate, respiratory rate, activity level, and posture), and an eCoach for the patient. Primary outcome was usability of the platform measured by the System Usability Scale halfway and at the end of the study. Overall usability was rated as sufficient (mean score 72.1 ± 8.9) and did not differ between the measurements moments (P = 0.690). The HCPs reported positive experiences (n = 7), negative experiences (n = 13), and recommendations (n = 6) for the future. Actual use of the platform was 79% of the HH days. Conclusion A digital health platform to support HH was considered usable by HCPs, although actual use of the platform was limited. Therefore, several improvements in the integration of the digital platform into clinical workflows and in defining the precise role of the digital platform and its use are needed to add value before full implementation. Introduction: Research supports the benefits of job search interventions in improving employment outcomes for various populations, but previous studies involved face-to-face implementation and did not include adults with visual impairments. The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility and acceptability of a job search intervention designed for synchronous distance implementation with adults with visual impairments. Methods: Two trainers implemented a 5-day job search skills training program with 12 job seekers with visual impairments, ages 22–63 years, via Zoom videoconferencing software. Researchers documented participant attendance and intervention fidelity during the program. Participants completed electronic surveys that included quantitative measures of cognitive load and acceptability, plus open-ended questions about their overall perceptions of the program. Results: Attendance, intervention fidelity, and germane cognitive load were high, whereas intrinsic and extraneous cognitive load were low. Most implementation issues resulted from technical difficulties experienced by participants, which were most prevalent on the first day. Acceptability ratings indicated high levels of engagement; relevance; interactivity; and satisfaction with the trainers, group processes, and virtual format. Participants commented on many positive aspects of the program, and some acknowledged the technical issues that occurred. Discussion: The results support the acceptability and feasibility of the job search intervention. The trainers successfully implemented the program via videoconferencing with adults with visual impairments and developed a positive group atmosphere with high social support. Implications for Practitioners: Our findings have implications for facilitating group interventions through videoconferencing, including strategies for building group cohesion and social support. Background: Adolescents' sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs are largely unmet due to poor access to SRH information and services. A multicomponent community-embedded intervention, comprising advocacy to policymakers and community leaders, training of health workers on the provision of youth-friendly SRH services, and establishment of school health clubs, was implemented in Ebonyi State, Nigeria, to improve access to SRH information and services for adolescents aged 13–18 years in selected communities and secondary schools. This study explored the extent to which the intervention aligned with goals and roles of stakeholders in the State. Methods: Qualitative in-depth interviews (30) were conducted with key stakeholders in adolescent health programming in the State, and community gatekeepers (traditional and religious leaders) in the intervention communities. Sex-disaggregated focus group discussions (10) were conducted with health service providers, parents/guardians of adolescents. Data was analyzed deductively based on fit of strategy and two constructs of the Theoretical Framework for Acceptability – burden, and opportunity cost. The transcripts were coded in NVivo 12, and the subthemes that emerged from each construct were identified. Results: Stakeholders perceived the ASRH intervention activities to align with their individual goals of sense of purpose from serving the community and organizational goals of improving the visibility of adolescent reproductive health programs and aligned with their routine work. Hence, implementing or participating in the interventions was not considered a burden by many. Although the delivery of the interventions constituted additional workload and time commitment for the implementers, the benefits of partaking in the intervention were perceived to outweigh the inputs that they were required to make. Some of the community health workers in the intervention felt that provision of financial incentive will help with making the intervention less burdensome. To participate in the intervention, opportunity cost included forgoing work and business activities as well as family commitments. Conclusion: Findings from the study show that the intervention aligned with individual/organizational goals of stakeholders. To improve acceptability of the ASRH interventions, interventions should leverage on existing programs and routine work of people who will deliver the interventions. Plain language summary: Adolescence is a period of transition and marked physical and mental changes with an increased need for sexual and reproductive health services. However, these needs are not usually met as adolescent face challenges in receiving care such as negative attitudes of health workers, fear of consequences of disclosing sexual and reproductive care received to parents amongst other things. An intervention aimed at improving their access to sexual and reproductive health services was implemented in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. This study assessed the alignment of the intervention to the individual and organizational goals of the stakeholders, the burden involved in participating in the intervention as well as the things needed to be forgone. Findings show that the intervention aligned with the stakeholder routine work, organizational work plans and individual goals. Participating in the intervention was not considered bothersome by many stakeholders because the impact their work make in the community makes them feel fulfilled. Participating in the intervention increases workload of the stakeholders. Stakeholders had to forgo work and business engagements to participate and some felt incentives can help to keep them motivated and interested in the project. To improve acceptability of adolescent sexual and reproductive health interventions, interventions should be tailored to the routine work of the implementers of the strategy and plans for incentives be made for stakeholders who deliver interventions. This pilot study aimed to investigate the acceptability and efficacy of a patient storytelling intervention (live and recorded) on empathy levels of medical students. Medical students participated in a storytelling intervention that had three components: listening to live or recorded stories from women with abnormal uterine bleeding, reflective writing, and a debriefing session. Empathy scores of students pre- and post-intervention were measured using the Jefferson Scale of Empathy-student version (JSE-S). Students also completed a feedback survey. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse quantitative data and content analysis was used for text comments. Both live and recorded storytelling interventions had positive effects on student's empathy scores post intervention. Overall, students were satisfied with the intervention and reported that it improved their understanding of life experiences of women. Suggestions were made for an in-person storytelling session and interactive discussion after listening to each story. A storytelling intervention has the potential to improve medical students' empathy and understanding of lived experience of women with health conditions. This could be valuable when student-patient interactions are limited in healthcare settings, or to enable stories of small numbers of patient volunteers to reach students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: In July 2022, self‐collection became universally available as part of Australia's National Cervical Screening Program. This change aims to address screening inequities experienced among underscreened populations, including women of Indian descent. This study explored experiences of cervical screening, alongside the acceptability of self‐collection, among women of Indian descent living in Victoria, Australia. We also aimed to articulate the informational needs to promote self‐collection among this population. Methods: Five focus group discussions with 39 women living in Victoria were conducted in English (n = 3) and Punjabi (n = 2). Transcripts were thematically analysed, as informed by the Theoretical Framework of Acceptability. Results: Women were motivated by the choice to self‐collect, perceiving the ability to maintain modesty and greater autonomy as key enablers. Healthcare practitioners were seen as central in supporting patient‐centred models of care. Perceived barriers to self‐collection included concerns around its accuracy and women's confidence in collecting their own sample. Widespread dissemination of culturally tailored promotion strategies communicating concepts such as 'privacy' and 'accuracy' were suggested by women to promote self‐collection. Conclusion: Self‐collection was highly acceptable among women of Indian descent, particularly when assured of its accuracy, and sociocultural norms and previous screening experiences are considered. This study highlights the huge potential that self‐collection can play in increasing equity in Australia's cervical screening programme. Objective The purpose of this study was to examine the feasibility and acceptability of a wearable device and telehealth counseling physical activity intervention early after lumbar spine surgery. Methods Sixteen patients were randomized to an 8-session physical activity intervention or to usual postoperative care after surgery. The intervention included a wearable device (ie, Fitbit) and telehealth counseling by a licensed physical therapist. The feasibility of study procedures was assessed through recruitment, randomization, retention, and participation rates. Acceptability was assessed through a satisfaction survey and median within-participant change in objective physical activity (steps per day and time spent in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity [MVPA]) and patient-reported outcomes. Results Of 64 participants who were eligible, recruitment and randomization rates were 41 and 62%, respectively. Retention for objective physical activity and patient-reported outcomes was 94 and 100%, respectively, at 6-month follow-up. Seven (88%) participants in the intervention group completed all telehealth sessions, and 6 (75%) met step goals over the 8 sessions. All participants in the intervention group found the wearable device and telehealth counseling to be helpful and reported it much or somewhat more important than other postoperative services. Median within-participant change for steps per day improved from baseline (preoperative) to 6 months after surgery for both the intervention (1070) and usual care (679) groups, while MVPA only improved for the intervention group (2.2. minutes per day). Improvements in back and leg pain and disability were noted for both groups. No adverse events were reported in the study. Conclusion Combining wearable technology and telehealth counseling is a feasible approach to promote the physical activity during the early postoperative period after spine surgery. Future randomized controlled trials are needed to investigate the efficacy of leveraging wearables and telehealth during postoperative rehabilitation. Background: There is a need for expanded options for therapeutic interventions for patients with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance use disorder (SUD). The study aimed to examine evidence for the feasibility, safety, and acceptability of a virtual Mantram Repetition Program for adults with PTSD and SUD. Methods: This project utilized mixed-method design (explanatory sequential design) to collect quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate the program in terms of its feasibility and acceptability. The program took place over Webex, an encrypted virtual platform. The group ran over 8 weeks, was 90 min in length, and facilitated by two individuals per cohort. Each group had 4–5 participants given each group cycle. The study used the Mantram Repetition Program which is a brief mindfulness based non-tramua focused group intervention. Results: Out of 43 participants enrolled, 5 people (11.6%) did not commence the program and 8 (18.6%) participants dropped out after commencing the program, resulting in 35 completers (81.4% retention rate). Treatment completion and retention were above 70%. Qualitative data explained several aspects of the program's acceptability including delivery methods, informative material provided and gaining a practical mindful tool to manage symptoms. Conclusions: This study showed quantitative and qualitative evidence of the Mantram Repetition Program's feasibility, acceptability and safety to be used with individuals with PTSD-SUD. Although further evaluation of virtual Mantram Program to control group in longitudinal trials is needed to identify how it compares with other interventions in the field. This study explored the acceptability of Children and Teens in Charge of their Health (CATCH), a program for children with spina bifida or cerebral palsy to enhance their physical activity and diet. Qualitative interviews were conducted with children (n = 6) and their parents (n = 6) who participated in CATCH. Analysis used an environmental systems framework. Microsystem factors impacting acceptability of the program were: Children's motivations for change, their age, and their physical health. Mesosystem factors were: Use of virtual coaching and the relationship between coach and child. Macrosystem factors (e.g. Covid-19), did not impact acceptability, but affected some goal attainment strategies. CATCH was broadly acceptable to children and parents and shows promise as a health promotion program tailored to children with disabilities. We assessed if acceptability of the dapivirine vaginal ring for HIV prevention differed among the subgroup of women who reported engaging in transactional sex prior to enrollment in MTN-020/ASPIRE (phase III trial in Malawi, South Africa, Uganda, and Zimbabwe, 2012-2015; n = 2629). Transactional sex was defined as receipt of money, goods, gifts, drugs, or shelter in exchange for sex in the past year. Dimensions of acceptability included: ease of use and physical sensation in situ, impacts on sex, partner's opinion, and likelihood of future use. We used Poisson regression models with robust standard errors to compare risk of acceptability challenges by baseline history of transactional sex. At product discontinuation, women exchanging sex found the ring comfortable (90%), easy to insert (92%) and nearly all (96%) were likely to use the ring in the future. Women who had exchanged sex were more likely to report feeling the ring during sex (ARR 1.43, 95% CI: 1.09, 1.89; p = 0.01) and slightly more likely to mind wearing the ring during menses (ARR 1.22, 95% CI: 1.01, 1,46; p = 0.04) and during sex (ARR 1.22, 95% CI: 1.02, 1.45; p = 0.03). Background: Large-scale longitudinal studies with biological samples are needed to examine the associations between prenatal cannabis use and birth and developmental outcomes. Objectives: The aim of this study was to understand the feasibility and acceptability of collecting umbilical cord tissue for the purpose of cannabis use testing in a community sample. Design: This is a mixed methods research study consisted of a prospective cohort study and a qualitative descriptive study. Methods: This study was conducted in Vancouver, British Columbia between January 2021 and August 2022. Participants were recruited during pregnancy, and the umbilical cord tissues were collected at birth and tested for the presence of cannabinoids. After the completion of the study, participants completed an online open-ended questionnaire about their overall experience. Data were analyzed using descriptive and thematic analyses. Results: Among the 85 eligible individuals, 57 people (67%) consented to the study. The cord tissue was collected for 39 participants (68.4%). The collection rates for participants with vaginal, elective, and emergency cesarean delivery were 73.0%, 71.4%, and 53.8%, respectively, and for those with spontaneous and induced labor were 81.5% and 50%, respectively. Four (7.0%) and seven participants (12.3%) reported prenatal cannabis use in direct and probing self-report questions, respectively. The agreement between any self-report and cord tissue test was moderate (kappa 0.53, 95% confidence interval 0.06–0.99). Qualitative findings were classified into five themes. Conclusion: The collection of cord tissue was perceived acceptable by most participants. Implementation of collection protocols for complex labors, a central hospital unit to liaise direct communications and active participants' involvement might increase the feasibility of future studies. A blended cognitive-behavioral intervention for postpartum depression (Be a Mom Coping with Depression) was developed, consisting of the combination of seven face-to-face sessions (delivered through videocall) with six online sessions in a web-based program. This study aimed to assess the intervention's feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effects on depressive symptoms. A single-arm pre- and post-test study was conducted, and adult Portuguese women in the postpartum period (up to 12 months) with a clinical diagnosis of a major depressive episode were eligible to participate (n = 9). Participants completed self-report measures and were interviewed after completing the intervention. Eight participants completed the blended intervention. The recruitment rate was low, but the adherence to treatment was high. Participants reported several advantages of this intervention and high levels of satisfaction. The blended intervention was found to be feasible and acceptable, and a reduction on depressive symptoms was observed in our sample. These results support the conduction of a randomized controlled trial to assess the efficacy of this blended intervention and provided important information to proceed with the necessary modifications. Purpose: This embedded qualitative study explored the acceptability, feasibility, and fidelity of two multi-level RCT interventions among office workers, aiming at improving movement behaviour to enhance mental health and cognition. The interventions addressed the organizational, environmental, and individual level. Methods: Semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions were conducted with 38 stakeholders after completion of the interventions. Data were analysed using reflexive thematic analysis. Results: The interventions were well appreciated, and office workers attributed improvements in movement behaviour and wellbeing to the interventions. Especially the cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based counselling and free gym access were appreciated, feasible and delivered as planned. Participants described existing workplace norms as barriers to more activity, particularly for reducing sitting. Support from managers and team support were considered crucial components. However, delivering these components was difficult. Conclusions: The findings support the design of the multi-level interventions for changing movement behaviour. Results highlight the potential of CBT for this target group and the importance of manager and team support. Desired effects of similar multi-level interventions, including CBT, might be achieved in future studies that carefully address the issues with feasibility and acceptability and the resulting low fidelity of some intervention components that were identified in this study. Introduction: People with dementia have a high prevalence of psychological distress but are underserved with evidence‐based psychological interventions. To promote choice and improve clinical outcomes, there is a necessity to test different psychological intervention options for this population. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness and acceptability of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) for people with dementia, considering carer‐supported, remote delivery and necessary therapy adaptations. Methods: A hermeneutic single‐case efficacy design series was used to analyse the therapy process and change for three clients with dementia and psychological distress. A matrix of quantitative and qualitative data was collated ("rich case records") and subject to critical analyses by three independent psychotherapy experts ("judges") who identified change processes and determined the outcome for each client. Results: Adjudication concluded that one client made positive changes, specifically reliable reductions in psychological distress, which were largely attributable to ACT. Two clients remained unchanged. Discussion/Conclusion: Where change was achieved, the ACT‐specific processes of values, committed action and acceptance, in combination with non‐specific therapy factors, including a strong client–carer relationship, existing client interests and individualised therapy adaptations, were facilitative. Hence, ACT may be a feasible and effective vehicle for therapeutic change by helping carers to better meet the needs of their loved ones. Future research to optimise ACT delivery in this population may be beneficial. Furthermore, the assessment of carer factors (e.g., their psychological flexibility and the client–carer relationship) may strengthen the evidence base for systemic ACT use. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, we examined the acceptability and appropriateness of Tuning in to Kids Together (TIK-Together) from the perspective of program facilitators. TIK-Together is newly a modified version of Tuning in to Kids that specifically focuses on the coparenting relationship (i.e., how parents work together to raise their children) and requires parents to both attend sessions. Through a mixed-method design, Australian facilitators who participated in the TIK-Together pilot study provided their perspectives on the acceptability (i.e., affective attitudes, burden, program benefits) and appropriateness of the program in their communities. It is essential to involve stakeholders, such as program facilitators, in pilot studies as they can provide valuable feedback from their first-hand experience with the program. Facilitators reported that TIK-Together was enjoyable and rewarding, and although delivery was straightforward, additional preparation time was required to manage program materials. Facilitators observed several program benefits, including coparents becoming more aligned and collaborative in their approach to parenting. Certain program components were particularly helpful for parents, including activities that were experiential, interactive, and reflective. Overall, facilitators deemed TIK-Together appropriate for their communities; however, it is not suitable for parents who are uncomfortable or unwilling to work alongside each other in sessions. Given the increased focus on a coparent approach to parenting interventions, the findings provide important insights for researchers and practitioners. Highlights: The current study explores the implementation of Tuning in to Kids Together (TIK-Together), a newly modified emotion-focused coparenting program. Findings show that facilitators perceived TIK-Together to be acceptable and appropriate for their communities. This study examines qualitative acceptability of the dapivirine vaginal ring (DVR) and oral daily pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) among breastfeeding persons participating in Microbicide Trials Network 043/B-PROTECTED, a phase 3B safety and drug detectability study of DVR and oral PrEP in breastfeeding. A subsample of 52 participants were purposively sampled to participate in an in-depth interview (IDI). Breastfeeding participants found both study products to be acceptable, and easy to use. A common motivation for product use was to protect the baby from HIV, although participants' understanding of how the study drug would work to protect their babies was often unclear. While most participants did not report experiencing side effects, fears about side effects were common as both initial worries about how the study products would affect their health and the health of their baby, and increased anxiety that health issues experienced by them, or their baby were from the products. To investigate the impact of including the response option of 'Possibly' in the Distress question on the Matthey Generic Mood Questionnaire (MGMQ) during antenatal emotional health screening in English-speaking women. Some distress screening questions only allow respondents to choose between 'Yes' or 'No' to the presence of distress. The MGMQ, however, allows respondents to chose between 'Yes', 'Possibly', or 'No', which may be preferable if a participant is reluctant to state she definitely feels distressed. In Study 1, women undergoing routine antenatal psychosocial screening were allocated to either completing the MGMQ Distress question with the usual three-option response format of 'Yes, Possibly, No' (N = 960), or just a 'Yes, No' response format (N = 771). The proportion of responses were compared in each group, as were the proportion then screening positive on the MGMQ's Bother question. In Study 2, women (N = 113) attending routine antenatal clinic appointments were asked about their preference between these response formats. Including 'Possibly' resulted in only a slight increase in the proportion giving a positive response to the Distress question, and then also screening positive on the Bother question. In Study 2, a substantial majority of women (80%) preferred having 'Possibly' in the response options. While the impact of including 'Possibly' is small, it allows for more women to communicate how they are feeling on the full MGMQ. Given the large majority of women preferring having 'Possibly' included, we believe that the Distress Question is enhanced by having this as a response option. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Although bundled communication interventions are recommended to address communication barriers for patients with an advanced airway in the intensive care unit (ICU) such interventions have not been evaluated in pandemic conditions. Aim: To evaluate the acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility of a co‐designed bundled intervention to support communication with adult patients with an advanced airway in ICU in pandemic conditions. Study Design: Prospective, convergent mixed method design in a single centre medical‐surgical ICU in Toronto, Canada between September 2021–March 2022. After the use of the co‐designed bundled communication intervention quantitative data were collected from health care providers using validated acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility measures and analysed using descriptive statistics. Qualitative data were collected from providers, patients and families using semi‐structured interviews and analysed using content analysis applying the theoretical framework of acceptability. Joint table analysis enabled the integration of the two data sets. Results: A total of 64 (41.3%) HCPs responded to the survey: 54 (84.4%) rated the intervention acceptable; 55 (85.9%) appropriate; and 49 (76.6%) feasible for use in this context. Qualitative data (23 interviews: 13 healthcare providers, 6 families and 4 patients) and the joint table analysis extended the understanding that intervention acceptability was related to positive affective attitudes and reduced communication frustration. Appropriateness and feasibility were promoted through intervention alignment with values, ability to personalize tools, and ease of access. Recommendations to improve the acceptability included adaptation for immobilized and/or restrained patients, additional education, and integration into existing workflows. Conclusions: This mixed method evaluation of a co‐designed bundled intervention to support patient communication in the ICU during pandemic conditions demonstrated high rated and described acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility by participants. Relevance to Clinical Practice: A co‐designed communication intervention demonstrating stakeholder acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility can be implemented into clinical practice in pandemic and other infection prevention and control contexts.
