Virtual instrument technology has been increasingly used in university physics experiment teaching. An experimental platform is specifically constructed for studying low-frequency vibrations in university physics, which is based on a computer and its internal sound card, along with a program developed in LabVIEW programming environment to perform control and measurement on our experimental platform. The proposed platform effectively replaces the conventional signal generator and oscilloscope traditionally used in such experiments by integrating virtual instruments and essential experimental equipment. The platform offers various functionalities, such as synchronous transmission and reception of low-frequency signals, frequency measurement, dynamic frequency sweep measurement, and measurement using the three-point approximation method. The proposed platform has been successfully applied in experiments involving forced vibration, resonance of tuning forks, and dynamic measurement of Young's modulus. Unlike conventional low-frequency vibration experiments, the proposed experimental platform optimizes efficiency, reduces costs, and offers opportunities for enhancing the instructional content of experiments. 3D occupancy perception holds a pivotal role in recent vision-centric autonomous driving systems by converting surround-view images into integrated geometric and semantic representations within dense 3D grids. Nevertheless, current models still encounter two main challenges: modeling depth accurately in the 2D-3D view transformation stage, and overcoming the lack of generalizability issues due to sparse LiDAR supervision. To address these issues, this paper presents GEOcc, a Geometric-Enhanced Occupancy network tailored for vision-only surround-view perception. Our approach is three-fold: 1) Integration of explicit lift-based depth prediction and implicit projection-based transformers for depth modeling, enhancing the density and robustness of view transformation. 2) Utilization of mask-based encoder-decoder architecture for fine-grained semantic predictions; 3) Adoption of context-aware self-training loss functions in the pertaining stage to complement LiDAR supervision, involving the re-rendering of 2D depth maps from 3D occupancy features and leveraging image reconstruction loss to obtain denser depth supervision besides sparse LiDAR ground-truths. Our approach achieves State-Of-The-Art performance on the Occ3D-nuScenes dataset with the least image resolution needed and the most weightless image backbone compared with current models, marking an improvement of 3.3% due to our proposed contributions. Comprehensive experimentation also demonstrates the consistent superiority of our method over baselines and alternative approaches.

The Mott-Ioffe-Regel limit sets the lower bound of carrier mean free path for coherent quasiparticle transport. Metallicity beyond this limit is of great interest because it is often closely related to quantum criticality and unconventional superconductivity. Progress along this direction mainly focuses on the strange-metal behaviors originating from the evolution of quasiparticle scattering rate such as linear-in-temperature resistivity, while the quasiparticle coherence phenomena in this regime are much less explored due to the short mean free path at the diffusive bound. Here we report the observation of quantum oscillations from Landau quantization near the Mott-Ioffe-Regel limit in CaAs3. Despite the insulator-like temperature dependence of resistivity, CaAs3 presents giant magnetoresistance and prominent Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations from Fermi surfaces, indicating highly coherent band transport. In contrast, the quantum oscillation is absent in the magnetic torque. The quasiparticle effective mass increases systematically with magnetic fields, manifesting a much larger value than the expectation given by magneto-infrared spectroscopy. It suggests a strong many-body renormalization effect near Fermi surface. We find that these unconventional behaviors may be explained by the interplay between the mobility edge and the van Hove singularity, which results in the formation of coherent cyclotron orbits emerging at the diffusive bound. EuCd2As2 was theoretically predicted to be a minimal model of Weyl semimetals with a single pair of Weyl points in the ferromagnet state. However, the heavily p-doped EuCd2As2 crystals in previous experiments prevent direct identification of the semimetal hypothesis. Here we present a comprehensive magneto-transport study of high-quality EuCd2As2 crystals with ultralow bulk carrier density (10^13 cm-3). In contrast to the general expectation of a Weyl semimetal phase, EuCd2As2 shows insulating behavior in both antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic states as well as surface-dominated conduction from band bending. Moreover, the application of a dc bias current can dramatically modulate the resistance by over one order of magnitude, and induce a periodic resistance oscillation due to the geometric resonance. Such nonlinear transport results from the highly nonequilibrium state induced by electrical field near the band edge. Understanding the optical transmission property of human hair, especially in the infrared regime, is vital in physical, clinical, and biomedical research. However, the majority of infrared spectroscopy on human hair is performed in the reflection mode, which only probes the absorptance of the surface layer. The direct transmission spectrum of individual hair without horizontal cut offers a rapid and non-destructive test of the hair cortex but is less investigated experimentally due to the small size and strong absorption of the hair. In this work, we conduct transmission infrared micro-spectroscopic study on individual human hair. By utilizing direct measurements of the transmission spectrum using a Fourier-transform infrared microscope, the human hair is found to display prominent band filtering behavior. The high spatial resolution of infrared micro-spectroscopy further allows the comparison among different regions of hair. In a case study of adult-onset Still's disease, the corresponding infrared transmission exhibits systematic variations of spectral weight as the disease evolves. The geometry effect of the internal hair structure is further quantified using the finite-element simulation. The results imply that the variation of spectral weight may relate to the disordered microscopic structure variation of the hair cortex during the inflammatory attack. Our work reveals the potential of hair infrared transmission spectrum in tracing the variation of hair cortex retrospectively.

Releasing the epitaxial oxide heterostructures from substrate constraints leads to the emergence of various correlated electronic phases and paves the way for integrations with advanced semiconductor technologies. Identifying a suitable water-soluble sacrificial layer, compatible with the high-quality epitaxial growth of oxide heterostructures, is currently the key to the development of large-scale freestanding oxide membranes. In this study, we unveil the super-tetragonal Sr4Al2O7 (SAOT) as a promising water-soluble sacrificial layer. The distinct low-symmetric crystal structure of SAOT enables a superior capability to sustain epitaxial strain, thus allowing for broad tunability in lattice constants. The resultant structural coherency and defect-free interface in perovskite ABO3/SAOT heterostructures effectively restrain crack formations during the water-assisted release of freestanding oxide membranes. For a variety of non-ferroelectric oxide membranes, the crack-free areas can span up to a few millimeters in length scale. As a prototypical half-metallic ferromagnet, La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 (LSMO) has been extensively studied due to its versatile physical properties and great potential in spintronic applications. However, the weak perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) limits the controllability and detection of magnetism in LSMO, thus hindering the realization of oxide-based spintronic devices with low energy consumption and high integration level. Motivated by this challenge, we develop an experimental approach to enhance the PMA of LSMO epitaxial films. By cooperatively introducing 4d Ru doping and a moderate compressive strain, the maximum uniaxial magnetic anisotropy in Ru-doped LSMO can reach 3.0 to 1E5 J/m3 at 10 K. Furthermore, we find a significant anisotropic magnetoresistance effect in these Ru-doped LSMO films, which is dominated by the strong PMA. Our findings offer an effective pathway to harness and detect the orientations of magnetic moments in LSMO films, thus promoting the feasibility of oxide-based spintronic devices, such as spin valves and magnetic tunnel junctions.

In transition-metal-oxide heterostructures, the anomalous Hall effect (AHE) is a powerful tool for detecting the magnetic state and revealing intriguing interfacial magnetic orderings. However, achieving a larger AHE at room temperature in oxide heterostructures is still challenging due to the dilemma of mutually strong spin-orbit coupling and magnetic exchange interactions. Here, we exploit the Ru doping-enhanced AHE in LSMRO epitaxial films. As the B-site Ru doping level increases up to 20 percent, the anomalous Hall resistivity at room temperature can be enhanced from nOhmcm to uOhmcm scale. Ru doping leads to strong competition between ferromagnetic double-exchange interaction and antiferromagnetic super-exchange interaction. The resultant spin frustration and spin-glass state facilitate a strong skew-scattering process, thus significantly enhancing the extrinsic AHE. Our findings could pave a feasible approach for boosting the controllability and reliability of oxide-based spintronic devices.

Arising from the extreme/saddle point in electronic bands, Van Hove singularity (VHS) manifests divergent density of states (DOS) and induces various new states of matter such as unconventional superconductivity. VHS is believed to exist in one and two dimensions, but rarely found in three dimension (3D). Here, we report the discovery of 3D VHS in a topological magnet EuCd2As2 by magneto-infrared spectroscopy. External magnetic fields effectively control the exchange interaction in EuCd2As2, and shift 3D Weyl bands continuously, leading to the modification of Fermi velocity and energy dispersion. Above the critical field, the 3D VHS forms and is evidenced by the abrupt emergence of inter-band transitions, which can be quantitatively described by the minimal model of Weyl semimetals. Three additional optical transitions are further predicted theoretically and verified in magneto-near-infrared spectra. Our results pave the way to exploring VHS in 3D systems and uncovering the coordination between electronic correlation and the topological phase.

Photodetector based on two-dimensional (2D) materials is an ongoing quest in optoelectronics. These 2D photodetectors are generally efficient at low illuminating power but suffer severe recombination processes at high power, which results in the sublinear power dependence of photoresponse and lower optoelectronic efficiency. The desirable superlinear photocurrent is mostly achieved by sophisticated 2D heterostructures or device arrays, while 2D materials rarely show intrinsic superlinear photoresponse. Here, we report the giant superlinear power dependence of photocurrent based on multi-layer Ta$_2$NiS$_5$. While the fabricated photodetector exhibits good sensitivity ($3.1 mS/W$ per square) and fast photoresponse ($31 \mu$$s$), the bias-, polarization-, and spatial-resolved measurements point to an intrinsic photoconductive mechanism. By increasing the incident power density from $1.5 \mu$W/$\mu$$m^{2}$ to $200 \mu$W/$\mu$$m^{2}$, the photocurrent power dependence varies from sublinear to superlinear. At higher illuminating conditions, a prominent superlinearity is observed with a giant power exponent of $\gamma=1.5$. The unusual photoresponse can be explained by a two-recombination-center model where the distinct density of states of the recombination centers effectively closes all recombination channels. The fabricated photodetector is integrated into camera for taking photos with enhanced contrast due to the superlinearity. Our work provides an effective route to enable higher optoelectronic efficiency at extreme conditions.

We propose an approach to estimate arm and hand dynamics from monocular video by utilizing the relationship between arm and hand. Although monocular full human motion capture technologies have made great progress in recent years, recovering accurate and plausible arm twists and hand gestures from in-the-wild videos still remains a challenge. To solve this problem, our solution is proposed based on the fact that arm poses and hand gestures are highly correlated in most real situations. To fully exploit arm-hand correlation as well as inter-frame information, we carefully design a Spatial-Temporal Parallel Arm-Hand Motion Transformer (PAHMT) to predict the arm and hand dynamics simultaneously. We also introduce new losses to encourage the estimations to be smooth and accurate. Besides, we collect a motion capture dataset including 200K frames of hand gestures and use this data to train our model. By integrating a 2D hand pose estimation model and a 3D human pose estimation model, the proposed method can produce plausible arm and hand dynamics from monocular video. Landau band crossings typically stem from the intra-band evolution of electronic states in magnetic fields and enhance the interaction effect in their vicinity. Here in the extreme quantum limit of topological insulator HfTe5, we report the observation of a topological Lifshitz transition from inter-band Landau level crossings using magneto-infrared spectroscopy. By tracking the Landau level transitions, we demonstrate that band inversion drives the zeroth Landau bands to cross with each other after 4.5 T and forms one-dimensional Weyl mode with fundamental gap persistently closed. The unusual reduction of the zeroth Landau level transition activity suggests a topological Lifshitz transition at 21 T which shifts the Weyl mode close to Fermi level. As a result, a broad and asymmetric absorption feature emerges due to the Pauli blocking effect in one dimension, along with a distinctive negative magneto-resistivity. Our results provide a strategy for realizing one-dimensional Weyl quasiparticles in bulk crystals.
