Simple Summary: Detecting horse state after exercise is critical for maximizing athletic performance. The horse's response to fatigue includes exercise termination or exercise continuation at a lower intensity, which significantly limit the results achieved in races and equestrian competition. As conventional methods of detecting and quantifying exercise effort have shown some limitations, infrared thermography was proposed as a method of contactless detection of exercise effect. The promising correlation between body surface temperature and exercise-dependent blood biomarkers has been demonstrated. As the application of conventional thermography is limited by low specificity, advanced thermal image analysis was proposed here to visualize the link between blood biomarkers and texture of thermal images. Twelve horses underwent standardized exercise tests for six consecutive days, and both thermal images and blood samples were collected before and after each test. The images were analyzed using four color models (RGB, red-green-blue; YUV, brightness-UV-components; YIQ, brightness-IQ-components; HSB, hue-saturation-brightness) and eight texture-features approaches, including 88 features in total. In contrast to conventional temperature measures, as many as twelve texture features in two color models (RGB, YIQ) were linked with blood biomarker levels as part of the horse's response to exercise. As the detection of horse state after exercise is constantly developing, a link between blood biomarkers and infrared thermography (IRT) was investigated using advanced image texture analysis. The aim of the study was to determine which combinations of RGB (red-green-blue), YUI (brightness-UV-components), YIQ (brightness-IQ-components), and HSB (hue-saturation-brightness) color models, components, and texture features are related to the blood biomarkers of exercise effect. Twelve Polish warmblood horses underwent standardized exercise tests for six consecutive days. Both thermal images and blood samples were collected before and after each test. All 144 obtained IRT images were analyzed independently for 12 color components in four color models using eight texture-feature approaches, including 88 features. The similarity between blood biomarker levels and texture features was determined using linear regression models. In the horses' thoracolumbar region, 12 texture features (nine in RGB, one in YIQ, and two in HSB) were related to blood biomarkers. Variance, sum of squares, and sum of variance in the RGB were highly repeatable between image processing protocols. The combination of two approaches of image texture (histogram statistics and gray-level co-occurrence matrix) and two color models (RGB, YIQ), should be considered in the application of digital image processing of equine IRT. Computer vision applications usually rely on the features extracted from input images with good visibility. Image acquisition systems may produce degraded images with low contrast or distorted colours. For instance, bad weather (haze, fog) can cause images captured outdoor with low visibility. Image processing algorithms generally assume that the input image is the scene radiance. Haze removal, with the recovery of image radiance, ensures reliable features extracted from images and the image processing algorithm can achieve optimal performance. Inspired by the concept of image dehazing, the authors propose an image enhancement method that can be used to improve the visibility of the images. Each original image is first transformed into multiple exposure images by means of gamma‐correction operations and adaptive histogram equalization. The transformed images are analyzed by the computation of the local ternary pattern. The image is then enhanced, with each pixel generated from the set of transformed image pixels weighted by a function of the local pattern feature. The authors evaluate their proposed method on four benchmark image dehazing datasets. The quantitative results show that our method outperforms many deterministic algorithms and deep learning models. Moreover, the authors investigate the impact of image enhancement on a practical image‐based application—the reconstruction of three‐dimensional (3D) model of survey scene. Accurate 3D model reconstruction depends on high‐quality images. Degraded images will result in large errors in the reconstructed 3D model. Experimentations have been carried out on outdoor and indoor surveys. Our analysis finds that when fed into the photogrammetry software, the images enhanced by the authors' method can reconstruct 3D scene models with sub‐millimetre mean errors, which are much better than those with the original images. Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) emerged thanks to the development of deep neural networks. Forgery images generated by various variants of GANs are widely spread on the Internet, which may be damage personal credibility and cause huge property losses. Thus, numerous methods are proposed to detect forgery images, but most of them are designed to detect forgery faces. Therefore, a method to detect forgery images of various scenes is proposed. In this work, central difference convolution and vanilla convolution (CDC‐Mix) are mixed after considering the depth and width features of neural networks and analyzing the influence of attention on network performance. Based on CDC‐Mix, a separable convolution (SeparableCDC‐Mix) is proposed. The proposed method consists of three parts: (1) CDC‐Mix and SeparableCDC‐Mix are used to extract the gradient information and texture features; (2) CDCM is used to extract the multi‐scale information of the image; (3) multi‐scale fusion module (MS‐Fusion) is used to fuse the multi‐scale information from different locations of the network. A large number of experiments have been carried out on several datasets generated by GAN, and the experimental results show that the proposed method has a great improvement compared with the existing advanced methods. A noniterative fractional-order (FO) two-dimensional (2-D) adaptive filtering mechanism is proposed in this article. Quartiles-based adaptive textural segmentation is employed for the calculation of texture-dependent FO. Statistically, the quartiles/quintiles/quantiles are cut points for dividing the range of a probability distribution into continuous intervals with equal probabilities. For the purpose of texture-based isolation of the spatial regions, a 2-D textural map is framed by evaluating spatial entropy by considering a pixel-wise local circular neighborhood. A novel end-to-end framework is proposed for FO texture-dependent image sharpening in an independent manner without influencing the other classes of textural regions. A novel inclusion of texture-wise adaptive gamma correction is also proposed in this article by drafting a mechanism where different kinds of textural regions can be separately processed in an independent manner. A novel quintiles-based multiscale Retinex (MSR) inspired approach for reflectance computation is coined in this article for suppressing environmental artifacts and unbalanced/nonuniform illumination. In this context, various scales required for MSR are themselves computed through quartiles-based intensity levels. The proposed model is highly modular. So, it can also be pipelined in a parallel manner, along with any well-established state-of-the-art contrast enhancement approach. Also, this approach is noniterative and highly robust. It can be proposed as an add-on for several possible (as well as pre-existing) image processing procedures. This study investigates the generation of spatially distributed roughness coefficient maps based on image analysis and the extent to which those roughness coefficient values affect the flood inundation modeling using different hydraulic/hydrodynamic modeling approaches ungauged streams. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) images were used for the generation of high-resolution Orthophoto mosaic (1.34 cm/px) and Digital Elevation Model (DEM). Among various pixel-based and object-based image analyses (OBIA), a Grey-Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) was eventually selected to examine several texture parameters. The combination of local entropy values (OBIA method) with Maximum Likelihood Classifier (MLC; pixel-based analysis) was highlighted as a satisfactory approach (65% accuracy) to determine dominant grain classes along a stream with inhomogeneous bed composition. Spatially distributed roughness coefficient maps were generated based on the riverbed image analysis (grain size classification), the size-frequency distributions of river bed materials derived from field works (grid sampling), detailed land use data, and the usage of several empirical formulas that used for the estimation of Manning's n values. One-dimensional (1D), two-dimensional (2D), and coupled (1D/2D) hydraulic modeling approaches were used for flood inundation modeling using specific Manning's n roughness coefficient map scenarios. The validation of the simulated flooded area was accomplished using historical flood extent data, the Critical Success Index (CSI), and CSI penalization. The methodology was applied and demonstrated at the ungauged Xerias stream reach, Greece, and indicated that it might be applied to other Mediterranean streams with similar characteristics and flow conditions.
