Background: Postoperative pain management remains a significant challenge for patients undergoing posterior urethroplasty (PU). In a previous study, we proposed a novel technique of combined pudendal nerve (PN) and spermatic cord (SC) block to manage pain after PU. The present trial was conducted to test the hypothesis that this technique is effective for pain control after PU and provides longer-lasting analgesia than caudal epidural block (CB). Methods: Sixty patients undergoing PU were randomized into two groups: Group NB received combined PN and SC block, and Group CB received CB. General anesthesia with a laryngeal mask was performed. The primary outcome was the postoperative analgesic duration, and the secondary outcomes included the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) scores for pain and the number of patients with different motor scores of the lower limb at 3, 6, 12, and 24 h postoperatively. Results: Two patients in Group CB were withdrawn due to block failure. The postoperative analgesic duration was statistically longer in Group NB compared with Group CB (mean difference [95% confidence interval], 115.78 min [17.80, 213.75]; P = 0.021). The NRS scores for pain at 12 and 24 h after surgery were statistically lower in Group NB compared with Group CB. Group NB had statistically more patients with motor score 0 at 3 h postoperatively than Group CB. Conclusions: PN combined with SC block is an effective technique for postoperative analgesia in PU. This technique can achieve a longer duration of analgesia and lower pain scores, especially 12 h after surgery, than a CB. Although the relationship between high-impact sports like football and basketball and the development of knee osteoarthritis is well established, the effect of martial arts on the knee joint remains unclear. To compare the imaging abnormalities of knee joints and T2 relaxation times of cartilage in professional martial arts athletes and healthy controls. Cross-sectional study. Hospital imaging center. Nine asymptomatic professional martial arts athletes and 18 healthy volunteers. We performed 3T magnetic resonance imaging of the knee on both legs of athletes and the dominant leg of controls. The magnetic resonance imaging protocol included conventional sequences used for morphological assessment (cartilage, meniscus, ligaments, joint effusion, and bone marrow edema) and T2 mapping used for quantitatively evaluating the cartilage. Knee cartilage was manually divided into 8 regions, and T2 relaxation times of the corresponding subregions were measured. Fisher exact test and t test were used to compare the frequency of lesions and cartilage T2 values both between groups and between the athletes' limbs. P <.05 was considered significant. Professional martial arts athletes exhibited significantly higher frequencies of cartilage (55.6% vs 11.1%, P =.023) and ligament lesions (66.7% vs 16.7%, P =.026) compared with the control group. Athletes showed higher T2 values in 3 distinct cartilage segments: the central weight-bearing segment of the medial femoral condyle (P =.006), the medial tibial plateau (P =.012), and the trochlea (P =.032), when compared with the controls. Additionally, the dominant leg of athletes showed significantly higher T2 values compared with the nondominant leg. The findings demonstrated the impact of martial arts on the knee joint, characterized by higher prevalence of lesions and elevated cartilage T2 values, particularly in the medial compartment. Background: Non-invasive neuroregulation techniques have been demonstrated to improve certain motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease (PD). However, the currently employed regulatory techniques primarily concentrate on stimulating single target points, neglecting the functional regulation of networks and circuits. The supplementary motor area (SMA) has a significant value in motor control, and its functionality is often impaired in patients with PD. The matching SMA-primary motor cortex (M1) paired transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) treatment protocol, which benefits patients by modulating the sequential and functional connections between the SMA and M1, was elucidated in this study. Methods: This was a single-center, double-blind, randomized controlled clinical trial. We recruited 78 subjects and allocated them in a 1:1 ratio by stratified randomization into the paired stimulation (n = 39) and conventional stimulation groups (n = 39). Each patient underwent 3 weeks of matching SMA-M1 paired TMS or sham-paired stimulation. The subjects were evaluated before treatment initiation, 3 weeks into the intervention, and 3 months after the cessation of therapy. The primary outcome measure in this study was the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale III, and the secondary outcome measures included non-motor functional assessment, quality of life (Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire-39), and objective assessments (electromyography and functional near-infrared spectroscopy). Discussion: Clinical protocols aimed at single targets using non-invasive neuroregulation techniques often improve only one function. Emphasizing the circuit and network regulation in PD is important for enhancing the effectiveness of TMS rehabilitation. Pairing the regulation of cortical circuits may be a potential treatment method for PD. As a crucial node in motor control, the SMA has direct fiber connections with basal ganglia circuits and complex fiber connections with M1, which are responsible for motor execution. SMA regulation may indirectly regulate the function of basal ganglia circuits. Therefore, the developed cortical pairing stimulation pattern can reshape the control of information flow from the SMA to M1. The novel neuroregulation model designed for this study is based on the circuit mechanisms of PD and previous research results, with a scientific foundation and the potential to be a means of neuroregulation for PD. Objective Postoperative rehabilitation protocols, such as immobilization and non-weight-bearing periods during the acute phase after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery vary depending on the surgeon or the institution and lack clear standardization. Weight bearing (WB) after ACL reconstruction (ACLR) is critical. This study compares the results of WB immediately after surgery and partial WB with a brace after ACLR. Materials & Methods In this randomized clinical trial, the block random sampling method was used to select 84 patients who were divided into two groups. Group 1 was allowed to have full WB after surgery and Group 2 was asked to use braces after surgery, and they were divided into partial WB for one month and then full WB. Meanwhile, demographic information was recorded. The Lachman test, anterior knee pain, and kneeling pain before and one month after the surgery were also recorded. Knee function was evaluated using the international knee documentation committee, knee injury and osteoarthritis out-come score, and Lysholm scales before surgery and 1, 3, and 6 months after surgery. The data were analyzed using the SPSS software, version 20, and the Fisher exact test, the chi-square test, the Friedman test, and repeated measures analysis of variance. Results Most of the patients were men under 30 years of age. There was no statistically significant difference in the demographic information of the patients in the two groups. Kneeling pain, anterior knee pain, and the Lachman test did not differ between the two groups one month after the surgery. There was no difference between the two groups in the scores using the international knee documentation committee, knee injury and osteoarthritis outcome score, and Lysholm score in the 6-month follow-up. All the examined indicators in each group improved over time. Background: The pre-season preparatory period is considered key for optimizing the physical fitness levels needed to withstand congested match periods and preventing injuries during the regular soccer season. This study contrasted the effects s of neuromuscular training (NMT) versus an endurance-dominated training (ET) program conducted during the preseason on measures of physical fitness and injury occurrence in female soccer players. Methods: Twenty-four female soccer players aged 17.0 ± 1.3 years from a professional soccer club participated in this study. Players were randomly assigned to NMT (n = 12) or ET (n = 12) groups according to their playing position. The preseason intervention program lasted six weeks, with three weekly sessions with a duration of 45–60 min per session. Exercises in the NMT group included muscle strengthening exercises, plyometrics, agility and dynamic stability exercises, while the ET group practiced a traditional pre-season training program consisting of running and sprinting exercises, fartlek, and high-intensity interval training. The training volumes were similar in the two study groups. Anthropometric measurements, physical fitness tests (i.e., linear and change-of-direction speed, muscle strength and power tests) and the overall injury rate per 1000 h of exposure (training, match) were recorded throughout the season. Results: No between group differences were found at pre (T1). Significant group-by-time interactions were observed for the 5, 10, and 30-m linear sprint speed tests (p < 0.001, 2.16 < d < 2.58), the T-test (p = 0.024, d = 1.03), the squat (p < 0.001, d = 4.04), and the countermovement jump test (p < 0.001, d = 2.21), the Loughborough soccer passing test (LSPT) (p = 0.019, d = 1.08), and the 1-RM back squat test (p < 0.001, d = 2.53). Post-hoc tests indicated that NMT provided larger improvements for SJ, CMJ, 1-RM back squat, the 5-m sprint, 10-m sprint, 30-m sprint, T-test and LSPT compared to ET (1.07 > d > 2.77). The injury rate across the season was significantly lower in the NMT (5.1/1000 h exposure) compared to ET (11.8/1000 h exposure) (p = 0.014). Conclusions: The findings support that six-weeks of preseason NMT versus ET induced larger performance improvements, and significantly reduced injury occurrence in elite female soccer players. Key points: • Our results indicate that the integration of 45 to 60 min of preseason neuromuscular training, three times per week, for 6 weeks, can improve physical fitness and prevent injuries in young female soccer players. • The present study demonstrated that the neuromuscular training program can reduce the incidence injury rate by more than 50% and the burden by more than 65% compared to the endurance-dominated training. • Neuromuscular training is an effective approach during the preseason period to improve diverse measures of physical fitness and to reduce injury occurrence. • Preseason neuromuscular training appears to improve the fitness level of female soccer players and as such could allow them to compete at the high level. Objective: Accurate imaging biomarkers that indicate disease progression at an early stage are highly important to enable timely mitigation of symptoms in progressive lung disease. In this context, reproducible experimental models and readouts are key. Here, we aim to show reproducibility of a lung injury rat model by inducing disease and assessing disease progression by multi-modal non-invasive imaging techniques at two different research sites. Furthermore, we evaluated the potential of fibroblast activating protein (FAP) as an imaging biomarker in the early stage of lung fibrosis. Methods: An initial lung injury rat model was set up at one research site (Lund University, Lund, Sweden) and repeated at a second site (Radboudumc, Nijmegen, The Netherlands). To induce lung injury, Sprague-Dawley rats received intratracheal instillation of bleomycin as one single dose (1,000 iU in 200 µL) or saline as control. Thereafter, longitudinal images were acquired to track inflammation in the lungs, at 1 and 2 weeks after the bleomycin challenge by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and [18F]FDG-PET. After the final [18F] FDG-PET scan, rats received an intravenous tracer [89Zr]Zr-DFO-28H1 (anti-FAP antibody) and were imaged at day 15 to track fibrogenesis. Upon termination, bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) was performed to assess cell and protein concentration. Subsequently, the biodistribution of [89Zr]Zr-DFO-28H1 was measured ex vivo and the spatial distribution in lung tissue was studied by autoradiography. Lung sections were stained and fibrosis assessed using the modified Ashcroft score. Results: Bleomycin-challenged rats showed body weight loss and increased numbers of immune cells and protein concentrations after BAL compared with control animals. The initiation and progression of the disease were reproduced at both research sites. Lung lesions in bleomycin-exposed rats were visualized by MRI and confirmed by histology. [18F]FDG uptake was higher in the lungs of bleomycin-challenged rats compared with the controls, similar to that observed in the Lund study. [89Zr]Zr-DFO-28H1 tracer uptake in the lung was increased in bleomycin-challenged rats compared with control rats (p = 0.03). Conclusion: Here, we demonstrate a reproducible lung injury model and monitored disease progression using conventional imaging biomarkers MRI and [18F]FDG-PET. Furthermore, we showed the first proof-of-concept of FAP imaging. Psychiatric nurses are challenged with high levels of stress, which, in turn, lower their professional quality of life (ProQoL) and job satisfaction and increase their intention to leave jobs in psychiatric settings. An adequate level of ProQoL improves patient care provision. The purpose of this study is to assess the levels, relationships, and predictors of the professional quality of life of Jordanian psychiatric nurses and their job satisfaction and intention to leave their job. A descriptive cross-sectional design was used to collect data using the Professional Quality of Life Scale-5 from a convenience sample. Data were collected from 144 psychiatric nurses working in the largest psychiatric hospitals run by Ministry of Health, military, and university-affiliated hospitals. The results showed that the mean scores for compassion satisfaction (CS), burnout (BO), and secondary traumatic stress (STS) were 35.21, 27.0, and 26.36, respectively. The mean scores for intention to leave and job satisfaction were 2.33 and 3.7, respectively. The income level, educational level, intention to leave, and job satisfaction significantly differed in the CS dimension. Nurses' age, intention to leave, and job satisfaction significantly differed in BO. Nurses' age, years of experience, frequent C-shifts worked, and work affiliation were different in STS. Burnout, STS, and educational level predicted CS. CS, STS, job satisfaction, and level of education predicted BO. BO, CS, and frequently working night C-shifts predicted STS. Due to the presence of nurses reporting low levels of ProQoL, job satisfaction, and intension to leave, more studies are needed to assess the factors that affect ProQoL among psychiatric nurses and to evaluate interventional programs that improve the quality of life of psychiatric nurses. This is important in retaining nurses and increasing their job satisfaction. There is a need for interventions that enhance ProQoL. Background: Healthcare professionals appear to play a key role in shaping pregnant women's views and attitudes towards lifestyle issues, such as exercise. The aim of this study is to investigate the views and beliefs of Greek midwives and obstetricians regarding exercise during pregnancy. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study conducted during the period of January 2022–March 2023. For this study, 237 Greek midwives and obstetricians employed in healthcare settings in Attica, Greece completed an anonymous and self-report questionnaire. Four different/independent models of multivariate analyses of variance were conducted. Results: The vast majority of these healthcare professionals (88.6%) believed that exercise during pregnancy is generally beneficial. According to the multivariate analyses, healthcare professionals with postgraduate/doctoral studies were more likely to believe that (a) exercise is generally beneficial (p = 0.03), (b) pregnant women should be informed about it (p = 0.028), (c) informing pregnant women is necessary/useful (p = 0.023), and (d) pregnant women showed interest in it (p = 0.034). Also, freelance midwives were more likely to believe that pregnant women should be informed about exercise (p = 0.006), and that they showed interest in it (p = 0.034). In addition, (a) freelance midwives (p = 0.050), and those who had experience in antenatal counselling (p = 0.037), as well as (b) obstetricians who were largely experienced in monitoring normal pregnancies (p = 0.001), were less likely to associate exercise during pregnancy with the occurrence of placental abruption. Conclusion: Alongside healthcare professionals' educational level, their professional setting and professional experience emerge as key factors and need to be considered when designing innovative interventions to support exercise during pregnancy. Aim: This Study Aimed to Assess the Intention to Have a Third Child among Millennial Parents (25–40 years old) with Two Children in a City in Eastern China and to Explore the Influencing Factors Related to Fertility Intention. Design: A cross‐sectional design study. Methods: A convenience sampling method was used to enrol participants of childbearing age who visited two tertiary hospitals in Hang zhou, a city in eastern China, from June 2021 to March 2022. We conducted a face‐to‐face questionnaire survey with 520 participants and calculated the prevalence of intention‐related factors. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyse the independent influencing factors of fertility intention. Results: In total, 105 (20.2%) participants had the intention to have a third child. The results showed that 'employment status', 'age', 'reasons for wanting a third child', the considered 'biggest barrier to having a third child', 'views on the three‐child policy', 'desired free services', 'supporting work policies' and 'assistance policies' were significant independent influencing factors of intention to have a third child (p‐value < 0.05). The intention of the participants 'over 30 years old' was 2.466 times that of those '30 years old and under', and 'older age/personal health status' was considered the 'biggest barrier to having a third child'. Regarding policy and social reasons, the participants who need 'medical assistance' policy negatively affect the intention to have a third child (OR = 0.453, 95% CI = 0.247–0.830). Implications for Healthcare/Nursing: Nursing plays an important role in health promotion. Nurses can help couples make wise decisions about fertility by providing professional consultation, education, evaluation and support. They can also provide corresponding nursing and guidance to improve couples' health quality and overall reproductive success. Conclusions: The general level of intention to have a third child of Millennial parents with two children is still low. The participants who are 'housewives/househusbands', 'over 30 years old', and satisfied with the state of 'medical assistance' have higher fertility intentions. Background: Misconceptions about male nurses not only exacerbate the gender imbalance in the nursing profession but also negatively impact male nurses embarking on their careers. Currently, no tool exists to measure the gender biases toward males in nursing among nursing students in China. Consequently, the primary objective of this study is to assess the validity and reliability of the Chinese translation of the Gender Misconceptions of Men in Nursing (GEMINI) scale among nursing students. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 1,102 nursing students from China who participated online. We utilized the Brislin translation technique with a forward-backward approach. To determine the factor structure within the Men in Nursing Gender Misconceptions Scale's Chinese version, both exploratory (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were applied. The scale's internal consistency was measured through the Cronbach's alpha coefficient, corrected item-total correlation, and a retest reliability assessment. Results: The scale showed a content validity index of 0.938 and a retest reliability of 0.844. EFA indicated a two-factor structure for the translated instrument. CFA revealed a chi-square/degree of freedom of 3.837, an incremental fit index (IFI) of 0.952, a goodness-of-fit index (GFI) of 0.910, a comparative fit index (CFI) of 0.952, and an RMSEA of 0.073, all of which were within acceptable limits. The scale's Cronbach's α was 0.953, and the corrected item-total correlations ranged between 0.539 and 0.838. Gender-based misconceptions about men in nursing among students appeared to be influenced by their gender and whether they considered a nursing program as their first choice when applying for a major. Misconceptions about male nurses are greater among men and those who do not consider nursing programs as their first choice when applying for a major. Conclusions: The Chinese adaptation of the GEMINI scale showcased high reliability and validity. Introduction: Osteoporosis is common among postmenopausal women, and can affect their health and quality of life. However, it can be managed by physical activity. The present study aims to investigate the combined effect of core stability and dynamic resistive exercises on bone mineral density (BMD) in postmenopausal women. Material and methods: Sixty postmenopausal women diagnosed with osteoporosis, age 50 to 60, BMI < 30 kg/m², were randomly divided into two equal groups: the study group received core stability and dynamic resistance exercise (two sessions per week) in addition to 70 mg Alendronate (one tablet) per week for four months, while the control group only received 70 mg Alendronate (one tablet) per week (n = 30 each group). Both groups were assessed for BMD (dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry; DEXA), and quality of life (Oswestry Disability Index; ODI), both pre- and post-treatment. Results: Both groups demonstrated a significantly greater bone mineral density in the lumbar spine and left femoral neck and improved quality of life post-treatment compared to pre-treatment (p < 0.001). However, comparing groups, the study group demonstrated significantly higher lumbar spine (Z value = -5.588) and left femoral neck bone mineral density (Z value = -4.794), and significantly lower ODI score (F value = 243.686), compared to the control group (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Core stability and dynamic resistance exercise appear to be safe and effective methods in the treatment of osteoporosis in post-menopausal women. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research discusses the correlation between the results of socialization of child-friendly pesantren program by the ministry of religion and the ministry of women's empowerment and protection on the program implementation in pesantrens in Padangpanjg City, West Sumatra. The purpose of the research was to obtain information about the correlation between the results of socialization on the implementation of the childfriendly pesantren program. The hypothesis in this study is that there is a correlation between the results of socialization and the on the implementation of child-friendly pesantren programs in Pesantrens in Padangpanjang City. The research method is descriptive method. The technique used in this research is proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The results showed that the proposed hypothesis was accepted that there was a significant correlation between the results of socialization on the implementation of the child-friendly pesantren program with he correlation coefficient calculation known that r hitung is 0,660 wheres r table with significant degree 5% for N = 62 and df = N-2 = 62 - 2 = 60 is 0,254. Narcissistic managers with characteristics such as desire for fame and power seeking to protect their interests have the necessary motivation to be effective on the relationship between discretionary accruals and credit rating and, as a result, change the credit rating of companies to their desired rating. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the relationship between discretionary accruals and credit rating by considering the moderating effect of managers' narcissism. The statistical sample of the current research includes 113 companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange and 17 companies listed on the Iranian Foreign Exchange in the period of 2011-2021. The data of this research was collected by referring to the Kodal website, the website of the Iranian Statistics Center and Rahvard Novin software. Hypotheses were tested through multivariate regression models and generalized least squares approach using EViews 12 software. The results of the statistical test of research hypotheses confirm that discretionary accruals have a positive and significant effect on the credit rating of economic units. That is, with the increase of discretionary accrual items, the credit rating of economic units increases. Also, the findings of the research indicate that there is a moderating effect of managers' narcissism with three indicators of the size of managers' signatures, managers' cash bonus and managers' photo in the relationship between discretionary accruals and the credit rating of economic units. In other words, managers' narcissism based on the indicators of the size of managers' signatures, managers' cash bonus and managers' photos strengthens the positive relationship between discretionary accruals and credit rating. Based on these results, credit rating agencies are suggested to pay more attention to the narcissistic factors of managers and discretionary accruals in the credit rating process of economic units. AIM The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a virtual mindfulness meditation intervention on stress and anxiety levels of 145 nursing students. BACKGROUND Because of the twin demands of classroom and clinical workloads, nursing students experience greater amounts of stress and anxiety than the average college student. Mindfulness meditation is a promisingmethod to alleviate stress and anxiety. METHOD A pretest-posttest randomized controlled design was used. Participants received either weekly mindfulness meditation recordings or recordings on nursing information. Participants completed the Perceived Stress Scale and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 Scale. RESULTS A two-way mixed analysis of variance and follow-up simple main effects tests revealed that participants in the experimental group, who received meditation recordings, experienced significantly lower levels of stress and anxiety on posttest surveys than the control group. CONCLUSION Mindfulness meditation can reduce stress and anxiety levels in nursing students. This can improve students' overall mental and physical well-being. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Every month, around 3800 people complete an anonymous self-test for suicidal thoughts on the website of the Dutch suicide prevention helpline. Although 70% score high on the severity of suicidal thoughts, <10% navigate to the web page about contacting the helpline. Objective: This study aimed to test the effectiveness of a brief barrier reduction intervention (BRI) in motivating people with severe suicidal thoughts to contact the suicide prevention helpline, specifically in high-risk groups such as men and middle-aged people. Methods: We conducted a fully automated, web-based, randomized controlled trial. Respondents with severe suicidal thoughts and little motivation to contact the helpline were randomly allocated either to a brief BRI, in which they received a short, tailored message based on their self-reported barrier to the helpline (n=610), or a general advisory text (care as usual as the control group: n=612). Effectiveness was evaluated using both behavioral and attitudinal measurements. The primary outcome measure was the use of a direct link to contact the helpline after completing the intervention or control condition. Secondary outcomes were the self-reported likelihood of contacting the helpline and satisfaction with the received self-test. Results: In total, 2124 website visitors completed the Suicidal Ideation Attributes Scale and the demographic questions in the entry screening questionnaire. Among them, 1222 were randomized into the intervention or control group. Eventually, 772 respondents completed the randomized controlled trial (intervention group: n=369; control group: n=403). The most selected barrier in both groups was "I don't think that my problems are serious enough." At the end of the trial, 33.1% (n=122) of the respondents in the intervention group used the direct link to the helpline. This was not significantly different from the respondents in the control group (144/403, 35.7%; odds ratio 0.87, 95% CI 0.64-1.18, P=.38). However, the respondents who received the BRI did score higher on their self-reported likelihood of contacting the helpline at a later point in time (B=0.22, 95% CI 0.12-0.32, P≤.001) and on satisfaction with the self-test (B=0.27, 95% CI 0.01-0.53, P=.04). For male and middle-aged respondents specifically, the results were comparable to that of the whole group. Conclusions: This trial was the first time the helpline was able to connect with high-risk website visitors who were hesitant to contact the helpline. Although the BRI could not ensure that those respondents immediately used the direct link to the helpline at the end of the trial, it is encouraging that respondents indicated that they were more likely to contact the helpline at a later point in time. In addition, this low-cost intervention provided greater insight into the perceived barriers to service. Follow-up research should be focused on identifying the added value of other components (eg, video or photo material) in the BRI and increasing its effectiveness, especially for men and middle-aged people. Background: Internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and stand-alone mindfulness meditation interventions are gaining empirical support for a wide variety of mental health conditions. In this study, we test the efficacy of web-based therapist-guided mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT-M) for body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), a psychiatric disorder characterized by preoccupations with perceived defects in appearance. Objective: This study aims to determine whether CBT-M for BDD delivered on the web is feasible and acceptable and whether mindfulness meditation adds to CBT treatment effects for BDD. Methods: In this 8-week, 2-arm, parallel pilot randomized controlled trial, n=28 adults (aged between 18 and 55 years) were randomly allocated to an experimental group (web-based therapist-guided CBT-M) or a control group (web-based therapist-guided CBT). Study retention, accrual, and intervention adherence were assessed, along with self-report measures for BDD, depression, anxiety, and pain intensity taken at baseline and postintervention. Results: This study was feasible to implement and deemed acceptable by participants. After 8 weeks, significant improvements were found on all outcome measures for both treatment groups, and large between-group effect sizes favoring CBT-M were found for BDD symptom severity (d=--0.96), depression (d=--1.06), pain severity (d=--1.12), and pain interference (d=--1.28). However, linear mixed models demonstrated no significant differences between the groups over 8 weeks. Conclusions: The results suggest that mindfulness meditation may add to beneficial web-based CBT treatment effects for BDD. Background: Adolescence and early adulthood are pivotal stages for the onset of mental health disorders and the development of health behaviors. Digital behavioral activation interventions, with or without coaching support, hold promise for addressing risk factors for both mental and physical health problems by offering scalable approaches to expand access to evidence-based mental health support. Objective: This 2-arm pilot randomized controlled trial evaluated 2 versions of a digital behavioral health product, Vira (Ksana Health Inc), for their feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effectiveness in improving mental health in young adults with depressive symptoms and obesity risk factors. Methods: A total of 73 participants recruited throughout the United States were randomly assigned to use Vira either as a self-guided product (Vira Self-Care) or with support from a health coach (Vira+Coaching) for 12 weeks. The Vira smartphone app used passive sensing of behavioral data related to mental health and obesity risk factors (ie, activity, sleep, mobility, and language patterns) and offered users personalized insights into patterns of behavior associated with their daily mood. Participants completed self-reported outcome measures at baseline and follow-up (12 weeks). All study procedures were completed via digital communications. Results: Both versions of Vira showed strong user engagement, acceptability, and evidence of effectiveness in improving mental health and stress. However, users receiving coaching exhibited more sustained engagement with the platform and reported greater reductions in depression (Cohen d=0.45, 95% CI 0.10-0.82) and anxiety (Cohen d=0.50, 95% CI 0.13-0.86) compared to self-care users. Both interventions also resulted in reduced stress (Vira+Coaching: Cohen d=-1.05, 95% CI -1.57 to -0.50; Vira Self-Care: Cohen d=-0.78, 95% CI -1.33 to -0.23) and were perceived as useful and easy to use. Coached users also reported reductions in sleep-related impairment (Cohen d=-0.51, 95% CI -1.00 to -0.01). Moreover, participants increased their motivation for and confidence in making behavioral changes, with greater improvements in confidence among coached users. Conclusions: An app-based intervention using passive mobile sensing to track behavior and deliver personalized insights into behavior-mood associations demonstrated feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effectiveness for reducing depressive symptoms and other mental health problems in young adults. Future directions include (1) optimizing the interventions, (2) conducting a fully powered trial that includes an active control condition, and (3) testing mediators and moderators of outcome effects. As turnover intention is a strong determinant of actual turnover behavior, scholars should identify the determinants of turnover intention. In this context, the aim of this study was to assess the effect of quiet quitting on nurses' turnover intentions. Additionally, this study examined the impact of several demographic and job characteristics on turnover intention. A cross-sectional study with 629 nurses in Greece was conducted. The data were collected in September 2023. Quiet quitting was measured with the "Quiet Quitting" scale. In this study, 60.9% of nurses were considered quiet quitters, while 40.9% experienced high levels of turnover intention. Multivariable regression analysis showed that higher levels of quiet quitting increased turnover intention. Moreover, this study found that turnover intention was higher among females, shift workers, nurses in the private sector, and those who considered their workplace understaffed. Also, clinical experience was associated positively with turnover intention. Since quiet quitting affects turnover intention, organizations, policymakers, and managers should address this issue to improve nurses' intentions to stay at their jobs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simple Summary: In Sri Lanka, the authors are encouraging a cost-effective way to reduce the number of people developing oral cancer, which is a common cancer among men. The authors wanted to find out how well dentists can find signs of oral cancer and potential problems in their patients, and they did this by asking dentists questions in an online survey. Surprisingly, most of the dentists thought it would be better to only check people who are at a higher risk for oral cancer instead of checking everyone. Only about two thirds of the dentists regularly look for signs of oral cancer when people come for dental check-ups. The authors found that these dentists, on average, had noticed about 34 patients with concerning signs in the past year. Almost all the dentists believed that they needed more training to spot these problems. So, while opportunistic screening at the dentist's office is good, dental professionals also need to focus on other ways to prevent oral cancer, like checking high-risk groups and giving dentists more confidence to spot potential issues. In Sri Lanka, opportunistic screening is encouraged as a cost-effective tool to bring down the prevalence of oral cancer, which is the most common cancer among males. The objectives of the study were to determine the practices, attitudes, and level of competency of dental surgeons regarding the early detection of oral cancer and oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) through opportunistic screening. A prospective study was conducted online via a Google form using a pretested, self-administered questionnaire of 22 close-ended questions and 3 open-ended questions. Out of the 137 dental surgeons who responded, 88% (121/137) of the participants believed that screening high-risk target groups would be more effective in the early detection of oral cancer rather than opportunistic screening. Only 64% (88/137) of the participants frequently check for oral cancer and OPMDs when patients visit for dental treatment. Participants recalled an average of 34 patients (4628/137) with clinically suspicious lesions being diagnosed during examination at general dental practice during the past year, and 98% (134/137) of the participants believed that they should receive additional training in order to identify and diagnose clinically suspicious OPMDs and oral cancer. Opportunistic screening in general dental practice as an oral-cancer prevention strategy is appreciable, but due emphasis should be given to other prevention strategies such as population screening and screening high-risk target groups. The level of confidence of general dental practitioners in the early detection of oral cancer has to be raised in order to achieve higher standards in oral cancer prevention through opportunistic screening. Second-hand smoke (SHS) has adverse effects for pregnant women and foetuses. This controlled and randomized clinical trial evaluated the efficacy of a comic booklet intervention in promoting SHS avoidance among pregnant women and appropriate smoking behaviours among their male partners. We allocated 140 couples to the experimental group (EG), who received the comic booklet and a reminder sticker, and 146 couples to the control group (CG), who received usual care. The primary outcomes were women's self-reported SHS exposure and their male partners' smoking behaviours. Secondary outcomes included knowledge and awareness of SHS. Independent t-tests revealed that three months post-intervention, more male partners in the EG had appropriate self-reported smoking behaviours with a small effect size (Cohen's d = 0.35, 95% CI [0.08, 0.62], p-value = 0.01). Significantly more pregnant women in the EG recognised their partners' appropriate smoking behaviours with a nearly middle effect size (Cohen's d = 0.43, 95% CI [0.16, 0.70], p-value ≤ 0.01). Cues to action showed a significant difference between groups with a small effect size (Cohen's d = 0.36, 95% CI [0.09, 0.63], p-value = 0.01), as evaluated by male partners. BACKGROUND: The precision of quasi-static airway driving pressure (DP) assessed in pressure support ventilation (PSV) as a surrogate of tidal lung stress is debatable because persistent muscular activity frequently alters the readability of end-inspiratory holds. In this study, we used strict criteria to discard excessive muscular activity during holds and assessed the accuracy of DP in predicting global lung stress in PSV. Additionally, we explored whether the physiological effects of high PEEP differed according to the response of respiratory system compliance (CRS). METHODS: Adults with ARDS undergoing PSV were enrolled. An esophageal catheter was inserted to calculate lung stress through transpulmonary driving pressure (DPL). DP and DPL were assessed in PSV at PEEP 5, 10, and 15 cm H2O by end-inspiratory holds. CRS was calculated as tidal volume (VT)/DP. We analyzed the effects of high PEEP on pressure-time product per minute (PTPmin), airway pressure at 100 ms (P0.1), and VT over PTP per breath (VT/PTPbr) in subjects with increased versus decreased CRS at high PEEP. RESULTS: Eighteen subjects and 162 end-inspiratory holds were analyzed; 51/162 (31.5%) of the holds had DPL 6 12 cm H2O. Significant association between DP and DPL was found at all PEEP levels (P < .001). DP had excellent precision to predict DPL, with 15 cm H2 O being identified as the best threshold for detecting DPL 6 12 cm H2O (area under the receiver operating characteristics 0.99 [95% CI 0.98--1.00]). CRS changes from low to high PEEP corresponded well with lung compliance changes (R2 0.91, P < .001) When CRS increased, a significant improvement of PTPmin and VT/PTPbr was found, without changes in P0.1. No benefits were observed when CRS decreased. CONCLUSIONS: In subjects with ARDS undergoing PSV, high DP assessed by readable end-inspiratory holds accurately detected potentially dangerous thresholds of DPL. Poor baseline reaction time, as measured via the Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Test (ImPACT), has been associated with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury risk in adult athletes. Our study sought to determine whether the reaction time and impulse control ImPACT test domains differed between ACL injured and uninjured pediatric athletes. A total of 140 high-school aged athletes comprising 70 athletes who went on to sustain an ACL injury between 2012 and 2018 and 70 age- and sex-matched uninjured controls were included in the study. Mean reaction times were similar for the injured (0.67 s) and uninjured (0.66 s) athletes (p = 0.432), and the impulse control scores were also similar for those with (5.67) and without (6.07) an ACL injury (p = 0.611). Therefore, neurocognitive risk factors for sustaining an ACL injury in adults cannot necessarily be extrapolated to adolescent athletes. Stiffness is a common complication following trauma and surgeries around the elbow, which can result in upper limb functional disabilities. Soft tissue mobilization techniques such as Instrument-assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) and Muscle Energy Technique (MET) have limited evidence in elbow rehabilitation. This study aimed to compare their effects on postoperative elbow stiffness. 26 subjects were recruited (13 each group) with postoperative elbow stiffness (minimum 6 weeks post surgery) and randomly allocated in two groups: IASTM and MET. Pain [Numeric Pain Rating Scale NPRS)], ROM (Goniometer), and Function [Disability of Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) and Patient-Specific Functional Scale (PSFS)] were assessed at baseline and post-intervention. The data of 26 subjects were analyzed and both groups significantly improved in outcome scores post-intervention. The improvements in ROM and function between groups were comparable, but NPRS and PSFS showed greater improvement in the IASTM group (p < 0.05). Aim: To assess the social cognitive elements of the stigma of mental illness (knowledge, attitudes and behaviours) among healthcare professionals (HCPs) in Jordan. Design: A cross‐sectional descriptive design. Methods: A total of 206 HCPs were conveniently recruited from general hospitals in Jordan. The mental attitude, knowledge and intended behaviours scales were used to measure stigma elements. Results: Participants reported a moderate level of knowledge, a moderate negative attitude and a moderate or not greater interest to deal with people with mental health illnesses. The bivariate correlation revealed a negative significant correlation between HCPs' knowledge and attitude, indicating that HCPs with more knowledge significantly have more positive attitude (lower average score) towards those suffering from the illness. A more significant correlation was found between HCPs' knowledge and behaviour. The HCPs who had more knowledge were holding more interest and willingness towards dealing with persons with mental illness. INTRODUCTION The use of e-cigarettes has steadily increased, and vocational students are one primary target of e-cigarette marketing. This cross-sectional survey research aimed to explore e-cigarette use and examine the factors associated with it. METHODS Multistage cluster random sampling was employed to select 1536 students in vocational education institutions. A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect the data from September to December 2019. Multinomial logistic regression analysis was used to obtain the adjusted odds ratio (AOR) to determine the associated factors of e-cigarette use. RESULTS Altogether, 28.7% of the subjects were currently e-cigarette users, 7.4% used e-cigarettes only, and 21.3% were dual users. Various factors were found to be significantly associated with e-cigarette use by 43.7%. Those consisted of sex (male) (AOR=2.183; 95% CI: 1.510-3.157), grade point average (GPA) of <2.5 (AOR=2.363; 95% CI: 1.502-3.717), having neutral attitudes toward e-cigarette use (AOR=2.676; 95% CI: 1.499-4.779) and positive attitudes toward e-cigarette use (AOR=4.171; 95% CI: 2.250-7.734), moderate level of perceived behavioral control on e-cigarette use (AOR=3.520; 95% CI: 2.287-5.418) and low level of perceived behavioral control on e-cigarettes use (AOR=4.959; 95% CI: 3.274-7.511), moderate price of e-cigarettes (AOR=1.436; 95% CI: 1.009-2.044), and e-cigarette use of their parents (AOR=1.827; 95% CI: 1.137-2.938), close friends (AOR=4.327; 95% CI: 2.954-6.338) and idols (AOR=4.604; 95% CI: 1.844-11.497). CONCLUSIONS Students should be encouraged to develop negative attitudes toward e-cigarette use and increase their self-confidence to control the use of e-cigarettes. This can be achieved by regularly distributing information on the product's risks. Moreover, students can find inspiration and guidance from peers, close friends, or their idols, who will act as positive role models and inspire them not to initiate e-cigarette use. Sense of belongingness in the academic environment has been associated with positive student outcomes and increased student success. To cultivate belongingness, graduate nursing students were invited to participate in a virtual fitness challenge. Sense of belongingness was measured through pre-(n = 103) and post-intervention (n = 64) surveys with three subscales: other students, faculty, and the university. Students reported improved sense of belongingness following the intervention for all subscales, with statistically significant improvements related to other students (p = .007) and the university (p = .023). Background: Facial swelling, pain, and trismus are the most common postoperative sequelae after mandibular third molar (M3M) surgery. Corticosteroids are the most used drugs to reduce the severity of inflammatory symptoms after M3M surgery. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a single pre-operative dose of prednisone on pain, trismus, and swelling after M3M surgery. Methods: This study was designed as a split-mouth randomized, controlled, triple-blind trial with two treatment groups, prednisone (PG) and control (CG). All the parameters were assessed before the extraction (T0), two days (T1), and seven days after surgery (T2). Three-dimensional evaluation of facial swelling was performed with Bellus 3D Face App. A visual analogue scale (VAS) was used to assess pain. The maximum incisal distance was recorded with a calibrated rule to evaluate the trismus. The Shapiro–Wilk test was used to evaluate the normal distribution of each variable. To compare the two study groups, the analysis of variance was performed using a two-tailed Student t-test for normal distributions. The level of significance was set at a = 0.05. Statistical analysis was conducted using the software STATA (STATA 11, StataCorp, College Station, TX). Results: Thirty-two patients were recruited with a mean age of 23.6 ± 3.7 years, with a male-to-female ratio of 1:3. A total of 64 M3Ms (32 right and 32 left) were randomly assigned to PG or CG. Surgery time recorded a mean value of 15.6 ± 3.7 min, without statistically significant difference between the groups. At T1, PG showed a significantly lower facial swelling compared to CG (PG: 3.3 ± 2.1 mm; CG: 4.2 ± 1.7 mm; p = 0.02). Similar results were recorded comparing the groups one week after surgery (PG: 1.2 ± 1.2; CG: 2.1 ± 1.3; p = 0.0005). All patients reported a decrease in facial swelling from T1 to T2 without differences between the two groups. At T1, the maximum buccal opening was significantly reduced than T0, and no difference between PG (35.6 ± 8.2 mm) and CG (33.7 ± 7.3 mm) (p > 0.05) was shown. Similar results were reported one week after surgery (PG: 33.2 ± 14.4 mm; CG: 33.7 ± 13.1 mm; p > 0.05). PG showed significantly lower pain values compared to CG, both at T1 (PG: 3.1 ± 1.5; CG: 4.6 ± 1.8; p = 0.0006) and T2 (PG: 1.0 ± 0.8; CG: 1.9 ± 1.4; p = 0.0063). Conclusion: Our results showed that pre-operative low-dose prednisone administration could reduce postoperative sequelae by improving patient comfort after M3M surgery and reducing facial swelling two days and one week after surgical procedures. Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a main, highly prevalent, and challenging public health issue. Suboptimal self-care for type II diabetes can lead to poor glycemic control, complications, and even death. Objective: This study investigated the incidence of distress and its link with self-care habits of patients with diabetes type II. Methods: A correlational, cross-sectional design with a convenient sample of 200 patients was used to conduct this study. Three questionnaires were administered: (A) the demographic and medical data questionnaire; (B) diabetes self-care activities in brief; and (C) the diabetes distress scale in Arabic language. Results: The patients' mean age was 51.78 ± 11.34; 80% of patients practiced lower levels of diabetes self-care, and 37% of them had a high level of diabetes distress. Self-care is associated with diabetes distress (R = −0.152, p -value =.032). Conclusion: Self-care activities can help in the early detection and management of diabetes distress. Sustained self-care education is promising to minimize diabetes distress. Objective: The objective of this study is to assess concordance between the subcostal and right lateral view for ultrasonographic inferior vena cava measurements including the end-inspiratory diameter, end-expiratory diameter and respiratory variation represented by the caval index in spontaneously breathing healthy adults. Methods: We recruited a convenience sample of 33 healthy adults. A phased array ultrasound probe was used to obtain inferior vena cava measurements from a subcostal view in the sagittal plane and from a right lateral view in the coronal plane with B-mode ultrasound. End-inspiratory diameter, end-expiratory diameter and caval index were obtained for each view. A two-tailed t -test was performed to compare the caval indices obtained by the two views. Bland–Altman analysis was used to obtain the limits of agreement for the inferior vena cava diameter and caval index across the two views. Results: Subcostal and right lateral caval indices across all participants were significantly different according to a paired t -test (p < 0.0001). The Bland–Altman analysis showed wide limits of agreement in end-inspiratory diameter (−0.97 and 0.50 cm) and in end-expiratory diameter (−0.94 and 0.90 cm). The right lateral view underestimated the inferior vena cava caval index relative to the subcostal view. Conclusions: The subcostal and right lateral views are not equivalent in obtaining inferior vena cava measurements in spontaneously breathing healthy adults. Current cut-off values for measurement-based applications of inferior vena cava ultrasound, including fluid responsiveness using caval indices, may not be accurate when values are obtained from the right lateral view in the coronal plane of the inferior vena cava in patients. Ship present‐weather reports from 1950 to 2019 are used to assess trends in the reporting of precipitation occurrence over the global oceans. Annual reported precipitation frequency shows statistically significant positive trends of up to ∼15% per decade throughout most ocean areas equatorward of 45°. However, latitudes poleward of 45° are dominated by negative trends, some areas of which meet the 95% confidence threshold. Nine smaller regions were subjectively selected for further investigation, revealing that the observed trends, both positive and negative, are often but not always nearly linear, with the amplitude of interannual fluctuations usually being much larger than that expected from random sampling error alone. The annual time series reveal that four comparatively dry areas are associated with the largest overall positive trends, ranging from 8.3% to 12.8% (relative) per decade. Trends were also computed separately for each season, revealing remarkable overall consistency in trends across seasons. Plain Language Summary: Starting with 70 years (1950–2019) of archived ship weather reports from around the world's oceans, we tabulated the frequencies of reports of precipitation as a fraction of the total weather reports on a 1° latitude/longitude grid for each season and year. We then composited these to coarser resolution where necessary to have an adequate sample size. Finally, we computed trends in reported precipitation frequency over the seven‐decade period and tested the trends for statistical significance at the 95% confidence level. We found that statistically significant trends in apparent precipitation frequency affect large areas of the oceans, with positive trends dominating in the warmer and especially drier areas and negative trends dominating at higher latitudes. Background: Psoriasis is an inflammatory systemic disease with a chronic relapsing course. Methotrexate, a dihydrofolate reductase inhibitor, and Apremilast, an oral phosphodiesterase type 4 inhibitor, are currently the mainstay drugs in the treatment of psoriasis. Aims and Objectives: To compare the efficacy of Methotrexate with a combination of Methotrexate and Apremilast in treating chronic plaque psoriasis. Materials and Methods: The present study was a prospective comparative study conducted among 40 patients, aged above 18 years, with clinically diagnosed psoriasis attending Dermatology OPD of a tertiary care hospital in North India. The study utilised a pre-structured proforma to record a detailed demographic profile and clinical examination related to chronic plaque psoriasis. The patients were divided into two groups of 20 each. Group A was treated with oral Methotrexate, while Group B was treated with oral Apremilast and Methotrexate, and they were evaluated every 4 weeks for 12 weeks. Necessary investigations were done wherever indicated. Results: The male-to-female ratio was 1.35, and the majority (55.0%) of patients belonged to the age group of 31-50 years. 27.5% of patients had comorbidities like diabetes, hypertension, etc., The mean PASI score of group A at the first, second and third follow-ups was higher than that of group B. The reduction in mean PASI score was statistically significant in group B at successive follow-ups, with a percentage improvement of 89.4% at the end of 12 weeks. BACKGROUND: Consumption of an organic diet reduces exposure to a range of agricultural pesticides. Only three studies have examined the effect of an organic diet intervention on exposure to the herbicide glyphosate, the most heavily used agricultural chemical in the world. Despite its widespread use, the primary sources of glyphosate exposure in humans are poorly understood. OBJECTIVE: Our objective was to examine the effect of an organic diet intervention on urinary glyphosate concentrations among pregnant individuals. METHODS: We conducted a 2-wk randomized crossover trial in which 39 pregnant participants living near (≤0.5 km) and far (>0.5 km) from agricultural fields received a 1-wk supply of conventional groceries and 1 wk of organic groceries, randomized to order. We collected daily first morning void urine samples and analyzed composite samples from each week for glyphosate. We examined differences in urinary glyphosate concentrations between the conventional week and the organic week among all participants and stratified by residential proximity to an agricultural field. RESULTS: Median specific gravity-adjusted glyphosate concentrations were 0.19 μg/L and 0.16 μg/L during the conventional and organic weeks, respectively. We observed modest decreases in urinary glyphosate concentrations from the conventional to organic week among far-field participants, but no difference among near-field participants. In secondary analyses excluding participants who did not meet a priori criteria of compliance with the intervention, we observed significant decreases in urinary glyphosate concentrations, particularly among far-field participants (푝< 0.01-0.02, depending on exclusion criteria). DISCUSSION: This trial is the first to examine the effect of an organic diet intervention on glyphosate among people living near and far from agricultural fields. Our results suggest that diet is an important contributor to glyphosate exposure in people living >0.5 km from agricultural fields; for people living near crops, agriculture may be a dominant exposure source during the pesticide spray season. Introduction: Kidney transplantation is the treatment of choice for patients suffering from end‑stage renal disease and health‑related quality of life (HRQoL) is routinely used for measuring the outcome. Although the generic HRQoL questionnaire provides useful information on multiple dimensions, they fail to capture emotional and behavioral components of well‑being, which is supplemented by the Transplant Effects Questionnaire (TxEQ). The present research studies the impact of these two questionnaires on various parameters affecting the health of kidney transplant recipients. Methodology: This cross‑sectional study included 500 postrenal transplant patients within 5 years of transplant (18–70 years) evaluating HRQoL using a Short Form Survey‑36 Questionnaire and emotional/behavioral outcomes using a TxEQ. Results: Mean age of participants was 44.92 ± 5.86 years and males constituted the majority (>75%). The mean physical component score (PCS) was 41.3 ± 9.2 and the mental component score (MCS) was 48.1 ± 8.4. The highest score was observed for bodily pain, followed by role limitations attributable to emotional problems (RE). The PCS was significantly higher among younger participants, among males, among participants who have got a transplant >24 months ago, and among participants who had serum creatinine levels <2 mg/dl (*P < 0.05). However, the mental component score did not differ significantly in any of the matched variables. In TxEQ, medication adherence had the highest mean score, followed by perceived responsibility toward others. Conclusion: In our study, we concluded that reduced physical functioning among female gender, illiterate patients, with increasing age, in employed section, and with associated comorbidities such as hypertension and with a history of rehospitalization. The most frequently used and universally accepted technique for removing caries is mechanical ablation of decayed tissues by rotating drills. New minimally invasive strategies, such as the use of lasers to perform highly controlled tissue ablation, have been introduced in dental practice. The aim of this study was to assess and compare treatment with a 2940 nm erbium/yttrium–aluminum–garnet (Er:YAG) laser versus a conventional rotary treatment during cavity preparation in children with regard to restoration integrity. In a randomized, controlled, blinded trial using a split-mouth design, 40 (9–12-year-old) children with 80 carious primary molars were included. The cavity in one quadrant was randomized to be treated conventionally using a bur, while the cavity in the other quadrant was prepared using an Er:YAG laser. At the one-year follow-up, clinical examinations were conducted to assess the integrity of the restorations according to the Ryge criteria. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 22 (IBM Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). The average age of the participants was 9.4 ± 1.29 years. Males accounted for 51.4% of the participants. The Ryge criteria showed clinical success of restorations, and there was no discernible difference between the conventional and laser intervention techniques. Over one year, no statistically significant differences in the clinical integrity based on the Ryge criteria were found following class I cavity preparation in primary teeth with either procedure. Objective: COVID-19 disproportionally affected Hispanic/Latinx populations exacerbating systemic health inequities. The pilot study aimed to explore barriers to COVID-19 vaccination across Hispanic/Latinx communities in Southern California. Methods: Cross-sectional survey of 200 participants to identify common barriers to vaccine hesitancy among Hispanics/Latinx individuals in Southern California utilizing a 14-item survey and questionnaire in English and Spanish. Results: Of the 200 participants that completed questionnaires, 37% identified a knowledge deficit, 8% identified misinformation, and 15% identified additional barriers such as awaiting appointments, immigration status, transportation issues, or religious reasons as barriers to not receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Wald statistics denoted that household members with COVID-19 infection within the past 3 months saw a medical provider within the last year, wearing a mask in public often, and barriers to vaccination (not knowing enough about the vaccine) predicted vaccine. These variables indicated changes in the likelihood of obtaining vaccination. Conclusion: The most crucial factor for increasing vaccination rates was directly reaching out to the community and actively conducting surveys to address the barriers and concerns encountered by Hispanic/Latinx participants. Laptop use appears to contribute to poor working postures and neck pain among university students. Postural braces have the potential to improve upper back/neck posture and therefore might have a role as an ergonomic aid for this population. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to assess the short-term effects of scapular bracing on pain, fatigue, cervicothoracic posture, and the activity of the neck and upper-back muscles in healthy college students. A randomized controlled crossover trial was conducted to evaluate the self-reported pain and fatigue, the amplitude and median frequency of surface electromyography in neck extensors, upper trapezius, and lower trapezius, as well as the neck and shoulder sagittal alignment (measured by inertial sensors and digital photographs) during a 30-min typing task in a sample of young, healthy university students with or without a scapular brace. The brace condition resulted in significantly smaller levels of bilateral trapezius muscle activity (p < 0.01). Rounded shoulder posture was slightly better in the brace condition, but these differences were not significant (p > 0.05). There were no significant immediate differences in pain or fatigue scores, neck alignment, or the electromyographic activity of the other muscles tested between brace and non-brace conditions (all p > 0.05). However, bracing appears to immediately reduce the electromyographic activity of the lower trapezius muscles (p < 0.05). These findings shed some light on the possible advantages of scapular bracing for enhancing laptop ergonomics in this group of individuals. Future studies are warranted to evaluate the effects of different types of braces, the importance of matching the brace to the user, and the short- and long-term effects of brace use on computer posture and muscle activity. Consumption of unhealthy commercial foods and beverages (UCFB) is common among infants and young children living in low- and middle-income countries. Such foods can displace other nutritious foods, however, there is limited evidence on how this consumption tracks across time. This study assessed and tracked UCFB consumption of children living in rural/peri-urban Cambodia during the complementary feeding period, identified UCFB consumption patterns of these children, and explored the association between UCFB consumption and growth. A 6-month longitudinal cohort study was implemented among 567 caregivers of children aged 10-14 months at recruitment. UCFB consumption was estimated each month via a telephone-administered 7-day food frequency questionnaire, and UCFB consumption patterns were identified based on changes in this frequency of consumption over time. The majority of children either maintained (45.7%, n = 246) or developed (43.5%, n = 234) an unhealthy consumption pattern and only 10.8% (n = 58) of children maintained/transitioned into a healthy consumption pattern. High consumers of UCFB at 10-14 months had a 4.7 (CI: 4.7 [3.1-7.2]) times odds of being high consumers of UCFB at 15-19 months (p < 0.001). There was a trend of lower length- for-age z-scores (LAZ) among children maintaining or developing an unhealthy consumption pattern (~-0. SD LAZ) compared to children maintaining/transitioning into a healthy consumption pattern, however, this association was not statistically significant. Findings indicate that high UCFB consumption begins during infancy and tracks into early childhood. Context: Pollution-related health hazards are very common among people living and/or working in industrial areas, particularly near industries and metro cities. These air pollutants contribute to allergens, increase inflammation, and affect lung function. Aim: The present study aimed to examine the effect of yoga training on lung functions and inflammation in terms of soluble interleukin-2 receptor (sIL-2R) in people working and living in a polluted area. Settings and Design: This is a randomized controlled interventional pilot study. Methods and Materials: Forty-eight male volunteers from the industrial area, aged 20--50 years, were randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group. Each group comprises 24 study participants. Lung function and sIL-2R were studied at the baseline and post-yoga intervention period of 16 weeks. Statistical Analysis Used: Study data were analyzed using descriptive methods, a one-tailed t-test, a paired t-test, and an independent t-test. Result: Study results showed directional and significant improvements in forced vital capacity, forced expiratory volume in the first second, and peak expiratory flow rate compared to the control group participants. The results pertaining to sIL-2R showed a directional and significant decrease in the experimental group compared to the control group. Gifted children exhibit advanced cognitive abilities, usually beyond their emotional development, which puts them at higher risk of the negative consequences of isolation. This study investigates the effects of distance learning and home confinement on the emotional and social stability, motivation, and attitudes of gifted and non-gifted children in Greece. Our study includes two subsets, from before (September 2017 to March 2020) and after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic (April 2020 to March 2022). The analysis indicated that home confinement and distance learning caused children to create a stronger attachment with their parents, and it increased the involvement of parents in their child's school experience. Non-gifted children displayed high levels of certain attitudes (perfectionism, desire for acceptance, and condescending behavior) and demonstrated elevated motivation. Gifted children in the pre-COVID-19 period had already displayed increased levels of condescending attitude, which is assumed to be the result of already existing expectations from their parents. The pandemic further increased this attitude, as a result of the higher expectations of their parents. There has been no research on the trends in early sexual initiation associated with socio-environmental factors in Korea. This study aimed to examine the trends of early sexual initiation with various socio-environmental factors among adolescents. The Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey data were used, and two pooled datasets extracted from the 2006–2008 and 2014–2016 waves were conducted and compared. In this study, early sexual initiation was defined as sexual intercourse at the age of 13 years or younger. The weighted percentage and 95% confidence interval reporting early sexual initiation were estimated, and multiple logistic regression was performed for each subgroup of socio-environmental variables with the 2006–2008 pooled data as a reference. Regardless of sex, the weighted percentage of adolescents with sexual experience who reported early sexual initiation increased in 2014–2016 with statistical significance in most cases. Moreover, the possibility of experiencing early sexual intercourse overtime was more prominent among girls than boys. While indifference to adolescent sexual behavior continues, more adolescents become involved in early sexual initiation. Socio-environmental considerations, such as the establishment of safe environments for adolescents' sexual activity, along with systematized monitoring mechanisms, should be administered. Simple Summary: The number of pigmented moles is the most important risk factor for melanoma. This "real world" study conducted in 25 Australian childcare centers is the first to show it is possible to prevent a significant proportion of pigmented moles in young Caucasian children by dressing them in UPF 30-50+ clothing that covers at least half their body on a daily basis. Regularly wearing this clothing for 3.5 years was sufficient to prevent almost one-quarter of the pigmented moles that young children developed on their skin. This should, by implication, reduce their risk of developing melanoma in the future. Primary health care providers should stress the importance of garment coverage when recommending sun protection for children and should lobby for all sun-protective clothing standards to assess and report garment coverage, in addition to the transmission of ultraviolet radiation through the fabric (reported as UPF), on clothing labels and packaging for children's clothing, including school uniforms. Numerous pigmented moles are associated with sun exposure and melanomarisk. This cluster randomized controlled trial aimed to determine if sun-protective clothing could prevent a significant proportion of the moles developing in young children (ACTRN12617000621314; Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry. Twenty-five childcare centers in Townsville (19.25° S), Australia, were matched on shade provision and socioeconomic status. One center from each pair was randomized to the intervention arm and the other to the control arm. Children at 13 intervention centers wore study garments and legionnaire hats at childcare and received sun-protective swimwear and hats for home use, while children at the 12 control centers did not. The 1–35-month-old children (334 intervention; 210 control) were examined for moles at baseline (1999–2002) and were re-examined annually for up to 4 years. Both groups were similar at baseline. Children at intervention centers acquired fewer new moles overall (median 12.5 versus 16, p = 0.02; 0.46 versus 0.68 moles/month, p = 0.001) and fewer new moles on clothing-protected skin (6 vs. 8; p = 0.021 adjusted for confounding and cluster sampling) than controls. Intervention children had 24.3% fewer new moles overall (26.5 versus 35) and 31.6% (13 versus 19) fewer moles on clothing-protected skin than controls after 3.5 years. Sunlight's influence on nevogenesis is mitigated when children regularly wear UPF 30-50+ clothing covering half their body, implying that increased clothing cover reduces melanoma risk. Sense of time (temporal sense) is believed to be processed by various brain regions in a complex manner, among which the basal ganglia, including the striatum and subthalamic nucleus (STN), play central roles. However, the precise mechanism for processing sense of time has not been clarified. To examine the role of the STN in temporal processing of the sense of time by directly manipulating STN function by switching a deep brain stimulation (DBS) device On/Off in 28 patients with Parkinson's disease undergoing STN-DBS therapy. The test session was performed approximately 20min after switching the DBS device from On to Off or from Off to On. Temporal sense processing was assessed in three different tasks (time reproduction, time production, and bisection). In the three temporal cognitive tasks, switching STN-DBS to Off caused shorter durations to be produced compared with the switching to the On condition in the time production task. In contrast, no effect of STN-DBS was observed in the time bisection or time reproduction tasks. These findings suggest that the STN is involved in the representation process of time duration and that the role of the STN in the sense of time may be limited to the exteriorization of memories formed by experience. Background Phenytoin is a commonly used antiepileptic drug (AED) for postoperative seizure prophylaxis; it is associated with adverse cardiovascular effects. Fosphenytoin is considered a safer alternative but can produce prolongation of QT interval. This hypothesis generating pilot study evaluated the changes in hemodynamics and the heart rate corrected QT interval (QTc) with phenytoin and fosphenytoin during propofol and sevoflurane anesthesia. Methods Eighty American Society of Anesthesiologists I and II patients aged 20 to 60 years undergoing elective supratentorial craniotomy requiring a loading dose of the intraoperative AED for seizure prophylaxis were randomized into four groups: group PP, receiving propofol (0.2mg/kg/min) for maintenance and phenytoin (15mg/kg) for seizure prophylaxis; group SP, receiving sevoflurane (1minimal alveolar concentration) for maintenance and phenytoin(15mg/kg) for seizure prophylaxis; group PF, receiving propofol for maintenance and fosphenytoin (22.5mg/kg) for seizure prophylaxis; and group SF, receiving sevoflurane for maintenance and fosphenytoin for seizure prophylaxis. The heart rate, systolic, diastolic,mean arterial pressure, and QTc weremeasured at baseline before anesthesia, during maintenance of anesthesia, and during various phases of AED infusion and up to 1 hour after completion of AED administration. Appropriate statistical analysis was done and a two-tailed p-value of less than 0.05 was considered significant. Results The incidence of changes in the heart rate and hypotension was not significant among the groups. Administration of fosphenytoin significantly prolonged QTc, which was more remarkable when coadministered with sevoflurane than with phenytoin. Conclusion Fosphenytoin did not confer hemodynamic benefits over phenytoin. Objective: to analyze the profile of nurses regarding integrative and complementary practices in health (ICPH) and understand how they are used in the care of people with arterial hypertension. Method: mixed-methods sequential explanatory design. The cross-sectional quantitative stage included 386 nurses who completed an online questionnaire addressing sociodemographic and professional information, training, and practice, with a descriptive and inferential analysis. The qualitative stage was performed via 18 online interviews with professionals who had ICPH training and implemented it in the care provided to individuals with hypertension, with a participatory analysis. Integration occurred through a connecting approach. Results: 36.8% had ICPH training; most were women, Caucasian, married, public servants, aged 37 (+ 9.4) on average; 14.2% incorporated ICPH into the care provided to people with hypertension; predominantly auriculotherapy (28.2%) and bloodletting in hypertensive crises. The results show that nurses integrally approached patients, and their approach was not limited to the vital sign altered at the time, but they also intervened in anxiety, stress, sleep, and rest. A potentiality observed concerns support treatment adherence. Conclusion: the profile of nurses with ICPH training is presented, and such practice has implications for lowering blood pressure. Background: Flexible flatfoot is a common condition that is characterized by hindfoot valgus with longitudinal medialarch collapse. Many strategies for treatment have been reported but according to the current literature, controversy remains. Objectives: To compare the clinical and radiological outcomes of medializing calcaneal osteotomy utilizing modified step plate and subtalar arthroereisis utilizing conical subtalar implant for patients with symptomatic flexible pes planus. Methods: A prospective, randomized, double center study was conducted between May 2017 and May 2019 at the Foot and Ankle Department of Cairo University Hospital and El Sahel Teaching Hospital on 26 patients (37 feet) with flexible flat feet to compare between medial displacement calcaneal osteotomy using modified locked step plate (group A) compromising 17 feet and arthroereisis using subtalar implant (group B) compromising 20 feet. Results: By the end period of the study, 25 males and 12 females were available for our analysis of results with a mean follow-up period of 10.14 months (range 7-14 months), clinical scoring (American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society score, Foot Functional Index) with radiological analysis revealed a non-significant difference between both groups, the overall complication rate was 16.2%. Conclusion: Both medial displacement calcaneal osteotomy and subtalar arthroereisis significantly improved radiographic and subjective clinical outcome measures in the surgical treatment of painful flexible planovalgus feet. Purpose: To examine the impact of in situ simulation (ISS) with scripting on nursing staff's knowledge and confidence to initiate rapid response teams (RRTs) immediately after identifying patient condition deterioration. Background/Significance: Failure to rescue (FTR) related to delays in activation of RRT is on the rise, leading to poor patient outcomes. Lack of confidence, knowledge, and empowerment are associated with delayed activation of RRTs. As such, the nursing staff's confidence is integral in activating RRTs and FTR prevention. In situ simulation may help nurses increase their confidence, thus empowering timely RRT initiation. Methods: This quantitative pretest-posttest study used a convenience sample of nurses and nursing assistants. First, participants completed the Rapid Response Team Survey (RRTS) pretest. Then, they participated in the ISS scenario. Lastly, they completed debriefing and the RRTS posttest. Results: Pearson's correlation results showed no significant relationships between the variables. Dependent t-test results showed statistically significant increases between the pretest and posttest means (Part l, t = -5.51, p < .001, MD = 1.32; Part 2, t = -1.04, p < .01, MD = 3.1). These results suggest that ISS with scripting increased participants' knowledge and confidence in early activation of RRTs. Additionally, staff reported feeling more confident and empowered regarding future RRT decision-making and communication with other healthcare colleagues. Discussion: Early activation of RRTs prevents FTR. The results of this study suggest ISS with scripting increases staff's knowledge, confidence, and empowerment to activate RRTs. Background: Flipped learning excessively boosts the conceptual understanding of students through the reversed arrangement of pre-learning and in classroom learning events and challenges students to independently achieve learning objectives. Using a gamification method in flipped classrooms can help students stay motivated and achieve their goals. Methods: This study adopted a randomized controlled study design with a pre-test and post-test and involved 128 nursing students at Mansoura University. This study randomly divided the students into the study and control groups. Data were collected at three time points using six tools. In the intervention group, Moodle was gamified for 6 weeks. Results: A significant difference in the students' self-confidence (p = 0.021), skills knowledge (p < 0.001), intensity of preparation (p < 0.001), and motivation (p < 0.001) was observed between the two groups; however, no difference in the students' skills performance (p = 0.163) was observed between the two groups after using gamified flipped classrooms. Conclusions: Compared with the traditional flipped classrooms, gamified flipped classrooms improved nursing students' motivation, intensity of preparation, skills knowledge, and self-confidence during laboratory clinical practice. Thus, gamification is a learning approach that can be implemented in conjunction with the flipped classroom model to motivate students to participate in the learning process. Trial registration. Background and Hypothesis Clozapine is the most effective antipsychotic for treatment-resistant schizophrenia, yet a significant proportion of individuals on clozapine continue to experience disabling symptoms, despite being treated with an adequate dose. There is a need for adjunct treatments to augment clozapine, notably for negative and cognitive symptoms. One such potential agent is the glutathione precursor N -acetylcysteine (NAC). Study Design A randomized double-blind, multi-center, placebo-controlled trial for clozapine patients with enduring psychotic symptoms (n = 84) was undertaken to investigate the efficacy of adjunctive NAC (2 g daily) for negative symptoms, cognition and quality of life (QoL). Efficacy was assessed at 8, 24, and 52 weeks. Study Results NAC did not significantly improve negative symptoms (P =.62), overall cognition (P =.71) or quality of life (Manchester quality of life: P =.11; Assessment of quality of life: P =.57) at any time point over a 1-year period of treatment. There were no differences in reported side effects between the groups (P =.26). Conclusions NAC did not significantly improve schizophrenia symptoms, cognition, or quality of life in treatment-resistant patients taking clozapine. Introduction: Older adults with Alzheimer's disease (AD) experience drastic changes in their physical and mental abilities. AD patients became heavily dependent on their caregivers for everyday functions, which have significant implications not only for them but also for their caregivers. So, many AD caregivers experienced an increased level of depression and anxiety symptoms, lower perceived control, and higher burden compared to non-AD caregivers. Therefore, psychological first aid (PFA) and educational interventions are designed to enable those caregivers to meet the daily requirements of their patient care and to cope with its challenges. Aim: Determine the effect of psychological first aid program on stress level and psychological well-being among caregivers of older adults with Alzheimer's disease. Design: One group pre-test post-test was followed. Subjects: A convenience sample of one hundred (100) caregivers of older adults with AD. Setting: All online groups concerned with the care of Alzheimer's disease patients on Facebook.
