Electroencephalography (EEG) is increasingly important in Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) systems due to its portability and simplicity. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive review of research on EEG signal processing techniques since 2021, with a focus on preprocessing, feature extraction, and classification methods. We analyzed 61 research articles retrieved from academic search engines, including CNKI, PubMed, Nature, IEEE Xplore, and Science Direct. For preprocessing, we focus on innovatively proposed preprocessing methods, channel selection, and data augmentation. Data augmentation is classified into conventional methods (sliding windows, segmentation and recombination, and noise injection) and deep learning methods [Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) and Variation AutoEncoder (VAE)]. We also pay attention to the application of deep learning, and multi-method fusion approaches, including both conventional algorithm fusion and fusion between conventional algorithms and deep learning. Our analysis identifies 35 (57.4%), 18 (29.5%), and 37 (60.7%) studies in the directions of preprocessing, feature extraction, and classification, respectively. We find that preprocessing methods have become widely used in EEG classification (96.7% of reviewed papers) and comparative experiments have been conducted in some studies to validate preprocessing. We also discussed the adoption of channel selection and data augmentation and concluded several mentionable matters about data augmentation. Furthermore, deep learning methods have shown great promise in EEG classification, with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) being the main structure of deep neural networks (92.3% of deep learning papers). We summarize and analyze several innovative neural networks, including CNNs and multi-structure fusion. However, we also identified several problems and limitations of current deep learning techniques in EEG classification, including inappropriate input, low cross-subject accuracy, unbalanced between parameters and time costs, and a lack of interpretability. Finally, we highlight the emerging trend of multi-method fusion approaches (49.2% of reviewed papers) and analyze the data and some examples. Chemical warfare agents pose a serious threat due to their extreme toxicity, necessitating swift the identification of chemical gases and individual responses to the identified threats. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy offers a method for remote material analysis, particularly in detecting colorless and odorless chemical agents. In this paper, we propose a deep neural network utilizing a semi-supervised autoencoder (SSAE) for the classification of chemical gases based on FTIR spectra. In contrast to traditional methods, the SSAE concurrently trains an autoencoder and a classifier attached to a latent vector of the autoencoder, enhancing feature extraction for classification. The SSAE was evaluated on laboratory-collected FTIR spectra, demonstrating a superior classification performance compared to existing methods. The efficacy of the SSAE lies in its ability to generate denser cluster distributions in latent vectors, thereby enhancing gas classification. This study established a consistent experimental environment for hyperparameter optimization, offering valuable insights into the influence of latent vectors on classification performance. This in-depth study journey explores the context of natural language processing and text analysis in dementia detection, revealing their importance in a variety of fields. Beginning with an examination of the widespread and influence of text data. The dataset utilised in this study is from TalkBank's DementiaBank, which is basically a vast database of multimedia interactions built with the goal of examining communication patterns in the context of dementia. The various communication styles dementia patients exhibit when communicating with others are seen from a unique perspective by this specific dataset. Thorough data preprocessing procedures, including cleansing, tokenization, and structuring, are undertaken, with a focus on improving prediction capabilities through the combination of textual and non-textual information in the field of feature engineering. In the subsequent phase, the precision, recall, and F1-score metrics of Support Vector Machines (SVM), K-Nearest Neighbours (KNN), Random Forest, and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) are assessed. BACKGROUND: Mental arithmetic analysis based on electroencephalogram (EEG) signals can help to understand some disorders such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, arithmetic disorder, or autism spectrum disorder in which learning is difficult. Most mental computation detection and classification systems rely on the characteristics of a single channel, however, the understanding of the connections between EEG channels, which certainly contains valuable information, is still evolving. The methods presented in this paper are the result of a research project that introduces an alternative method for better and faster receipt of information from the EEG signals of individuals, which are generally complex and nonlinear. METHODS: The EEGs of 66 healthy individuals were recorded in two rest modes and mental task a designed, with a sampling frequency of 500 Hz. To classify these two modes, we extracted features from our recordings to differentiate the EEG signals of these two groups in a single channel as well as combine possible channels. The new method that was proposed was the extraction of several geometric features from Poincaré design analysis, which used the necessary comparison t-test to determine brain differences, with a significance level of less than 0.05 in the state of mental calculations and facial rest. Also, an artificial neural network (ANN) has been used for automatic learning and diagnosis in the two mentioned modes. RESULTS: The results of this paper show that by using a combination of geometric properties (sides, angles, shortest distance, slope, and coefficients of the third-degree equation) using selected channels (FP1, F7, C4, O1) can achieve 100 % accuracy. In this paper, we demonstrate that fixed-weight layers generated from random distribution or logistic functions can effectively extract significant features from input data, resulting in high accuracy on a variety of tasks, including Fisher's Iris, Wisconsin Breast Cancer, and MNIST datasets. We have observed that logistic functions yield high accuracy with less dispersion in results. We have also assessed the precision of our approach under conditions of minimizing the number of spikes generated in the network. It is practically useful for reducing energy consumption in spiking neural networks. Our findings reveal that the proposed method demonstrates the highest accuracy on Fisher's iris and MNIST datasets with decoding using logistic regression. Furthermore, they surpass the accuracy of the conventional (non-spiking) approach using only logistic regression in the case of Wisconsin Breast Cancer. Glaucoma is an asymptotic condition that damages the optic nerves of a human eye. Glaucoma is frequently caused due to abnormally high pressure in an eye that leads to permanent blindness. Detecting glaucoma at an initial phase has the possibility of curing this disease, but diagnosing accurately is considered as a challenging task. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel method known as a glaucoma detection system that performs the diagnosis of glaucoma by exploiting the prescribed characteristics. The significant intention of this paper involves diagnosing the glaucoma disease present at the top optical nerve of a human eye. The proposed glaucoma detection has used four different phases namely data preprocessing or enhancement phase, segmentation phase, feature extraction phase, and classification phase. Here, a novel classifier named fractional gravitational search-based hybrid deep neural network (FGSA-HDNN) is developed for the effective classification of glaucoma-infected images from the normal image. Palmprint identification has been conducted over the last two decades in many biometric systems. High-dimensional data with many uncorrelated and duplicated features remains difficult due to several computational complexity issues. This paper presents an interactive authentication approach based on deep learning and feature selection that supports Palmprint authentication. The proposed model has two stages of learning; the first stage is to transfer pre-trained VGG-16 of ImageNet to specific features based on the extraction model. The second stage involves the VGG-16 Palmprint feature extraction in the Siamese network to learn Palmprint similarity. The proposed model achieves robust and reliable end-to-end Palmprint authentication by extracting the convolutional features using VGG-16 Palmprint and the similarity of two input Palmprint using the Siamese network. The second stage uses the CASIA dataset to train and test the Siamese network. The suggested model outperforms comparable studies based on the deep learning approach achieving accuracy and EER of 91.8% and 0.082%, respectively, on the CASIA left-hand images and accuracy and EER of 91.7% and 0.084, respectively, on the CASIA right-hand images. White blood cells (WBCs) constitute an essential part of the human immune system. The correct identification of WBC subtypes is critical in the diagnosis of leukemia, a kind of blood cancer defined by the aberrant proliferation of malignant leukocytes in the bone marrow. The traditional approach of classifying WBCs, which involves the visual analysis of blood smear images, is labor-intensive and error-prone. Modern approaches based on deep convolutional neural networks provide significant results for this type of image categorization, but have high processing and implementation costs owing to very large feature sets. This paper presents an improved hybrid approach for efficient WBC subtype classification. First, optimum deep features are extracted from enhanced and segmented WBC images using transfer learning on pre-trained deep neural networks, i.e., DenseNet201 and Darknet53. The serially fused feature vector is then filtered using an entropy-controlled marine predator algorithm (ECMPA). This nature-inspired meta-heuristic optimization algorithm selects the most dominant features while discarding the weak ones. The reduced feature vector is classified with multiple baseline classifiers with various kernel settings. The proposed methodology is validated on a public dataset of 5000 synthetic images that correspond to five different subtypes of WBCs. The system achieves an overall average accuracy of 99.9 % with more than 95 % reduction in the size of the feature vector. The feature selection algorithm also demonstrates better convergence performance as compared to classical meta-heuristic algorithms. Classification of 3D objects – the selection of a category in which each object belongs – is of great interest in the field of machine learning. Numerous researchers use deep neural networks to address this problem, altering the network architecture and representation of the 3D shape used as an input. To investigate the effectiveness of their approaches, we conduct an extensive survey of existing methods and identify common ideas by which we categorize them into a taxonomy. Second, we evaluate 11 selected classification networks on two 3D object datasets, extending the evaluation to a larger dataset on which most of the selected approaches have not been tested yet. For this, we provide a framework for converting shapes from common 3D mesh formats into formats native to each network, and for training and evaluating different classification approaches on this data. Despite being partially unable to reach the accuracies reported in the original papers, we compare the relative performance of the approaches as well as their performance when changing datasets as the only variable to provide valuable insights into performance on different kinds of data. Three-dimensional (3D) point cloud classification methods based on deep learning have good classification performance; however, they adapt poorly to diverse datasets and their classification accuracy must be improved. Therefore, FSDCNet, a neural network model based on the fusion of static and dynamic convolution, is proposed and applied for multiview 3D point cloud classification in this paper. FSDCNet devises a view selection method with fixed and random viewpoints, which effectively avoids the overfitting caused by the traditional fixed viewpoint. A local feature extraction operator of dynamic and static convolution adaptive weight fusion was designed to improve the model's adaptability to different types of datasets. To address the problems of large parameters and high computational complexity associated with the current methods of dynamic convolution, a lightweight and adaptive dynamic convolution operator was developed. In addition, FSDCNet builds a global attention pooling, integrating the most crucial information on different view features to the greatest extent. Due to these characteristics, FSDCNet is more adaptable, can extract more fine-grained detailed information, and can improve the classification accuracy of point cloud data. The proposed method was applied to the ModelNet40 and Sydney Urban Objects datasets. In these experiments, FSDCNet outperformed its counterparts, achieving state-of-the-art point cloud classification accuracy. For the ModelNet40 dataset, the overall accuracy (OA) and average accuracy (AA) of FSDCNet in a single view reached 93.8% and 91.2%, respectively, which were superior to those values for many other methods using 6 and 12 views. FSDCNet obtained the best results for 6 and 12 views, achieving 94.6%, 93.3%, 95.3%, and 93.6% in OA and AA metrics, respectively. For the Sydney Urban Objects dataset, FSDCNet achieved an OA and F1 score of 81.2% and 80.1% in a single view, respectively, which were higher than most of the compared methods. COVID-19 pandemic outbreak became one of the serious threats to humans. As there is no cure yet for this virus, we have to control the spread of Coronavirus through precautions. One of the effective precautions as announced by the World Health Organization is mask wearing. Surveillance systems in crowded places can lead to detection of people wearing masks. Therefore, it is highly urgent for computerized mask detection methods that can operate in real-time. As for now, most countries demand mask-wearing in public places to avoid the spreading of this virus. In this paper, we are presenting an object detection technique using a single camera, which presents real-time mask detection in closed places. Our contributions are as follows: 1) presenting a real time feature extraction module to improve the detection computational time; 2) enhancing the extracted features learned from the deep convolutional neural network models to improve small objects detection. The proposed model is a lightweight backbone CNN which ensures real time mask detection. The accuracy is also enhanced by utilizing the feature enhancement module after some of the convolution layers in the CNN. We performed extensive experiments comparing our model to the single-shot detector (SDD) and YoloV3 neural network models, which are the state-of-the-art models in the literature. The comparison shows that the result of our proposed model achieves 95.9% accuracy which is 21% higher than SSD and 17.7% higher than YoloV3 accuracy. We also conducted experiments testing the mask detection speed. It was found that our model achieves average detection time of 0.85s for images of size 1024 × 1024 pixels, which is better than the speed achieved by SSD but slightly less than the speed of YoloV3. Purpose: Melanoma is known as the most aggressive form of skin cancer and one of the fastest growing malignant tumors worldwide. Several computer‐aided diagnosis systems for melanoma have been proposed, still, the algorithms encounter difficulties in the early stage of lesions. This paper aims to discriminate melanoma and benign skin lesion in dermoscopic images. Methods: The proposed algorithm is based on the color and texture of skin lesions by introducing a novel feature extraction technique. The algorithm uses an automatic segmentation based on k‐means generating a fairly accurate mask for each lesion. The feature extraction consists of the existing and novel color and texture attributes measuring how color and texture vary inside the lesion. To find the optimal results, all the attributes are extracted from lesions in five different color spaces (RGB, HSV, Lab, XYZ, and YCbCr) and used as the inputs for three classifiers (K nearest neighbors, support vector machine , and artificial neural network). Results: The PH2 set is used to assess the performance of the proposed algorithm. The results of our algorithm are compared to the results of published articles that used the same dataset, and it shows that the proposed method outperforms the state of the art by attaining a sensitivity of 99.25%, specificity of 99.58%, and accuracy of 99.51%. Conclusion: The final results show that the colors combined with texture are powerful and relevant attributes for melanoma detection and show improvement over the state of the art. This paper proposes a generic method to learn interpretable convolutional filters in a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) for object classification, where each interpretable filter encodes features of a specific object part. Our method does not require additional annotations of object parts or textures for supervision. Instead, we use the same training data as traditional CNNs. Our method automatically assigns each interpretable filter in a high conv-layer with an object part of a certain category during the learning process. Such explicit knowledge representations in conv-layers of the CNN help people clarify the logic encoded in the CNN, i.e., answering what patterns the CNN extracts from an input image and uses for prediction. We have tested our method using different benchmark CNNs with various architectures to demonstrate the broad applicability of our method. The ability to detect and localize the human eye is critical for use in security applications and human identification and verification systems. This is because eye recognition algorithms have multiple challenges, such as multi-pose variations, ocular parts, and illumination. Moreover, the modern security applications fail to detect facial expressions from eye images. In this paper, a Speeded-Up Roust Feature (SURF) Algorithm was utilized to localize the face images of the enrolled subjects. We highlighted on eye and pupil parts to be detected based on SURF, Hough Circle Transform (HCT), and Local Binary Pattern (LBP). Afterward, Deep Belief Neural Networks (DBNN) were used to classify the input features results from the SURF algorithm. We further determined the correctly and wrongly classified subjects using a confusion matrix with two class labels to classify people whose eye images are correctly detected. We apply Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD) optimizer to address the overfitting problem, and the hyper-parameters are fine-tuned based on the applied DBNN. The accuracy of the proposed system is determined based on SURF, LBP, and DBNN classifier achieved 95.54% for the ORL dataset, 94.07% for the BioID, and 96.20% for the CASIA-V5 dataset. One in every four individuals has a diagnosable mental disease in a year. Around 20% of children and adolescents have a mental health condition and often ignore it. It is found that 93% of youth use social media to communicate and engage, as it reflects their emotions, moods, and thoughts. As a result, machine learning algorithms may anticipate people's moods and emotions based on their postings and comments. On the other hand, psychometric tests use questions to determine how individuals think, feel, behave, and react. It is necessary to investigate a hybrid approach for identifying people's mental illness by combining social media inputs and psychometric tests, especially during a pandemic. The hybrid approach can combine the results from both the models to reflect on the user's digital & non-digital reactions to certain sensitive situations to determine their mental state. Hence, the present paper aims to develop a web framework that can forecast the emergence of mental illness in the future based on data from social media comments and real-time data from psychometric tests using machine learning algorithms. The proposed work includes the cluster ensemble method for social media posts and a convolution neural network model for psychometric tests. Determining the correct mushroom species with the necessary ecological characteristics is critical to continue mushroom production, which is essential in gastronomy. The mushroom farmers and collectors technique may help identify toxic mushrooms by detecting poisonous mushrooms using images of different mushroom species with distinctive morphological features. However, it can be not easy to distinguish between species. This paper used a dataset of 6714 mushroom images obtained from nine different mushroom species to classify the mushroom species. For a more straightforward comprehension of mushroom images and feature extraction by reanalysis of data sets, data visualization was performed using Grad-CAM, LIME, and Heatmap methods. Residual block-based Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures are trained to automatically classify the concatenated feature map obtained from the Grad-CAM, LIME, and Heatmap methods. After extracting the deep features of the images from each architecture, the Atom Search Optimization (ASO) algorithm has been used to select the most distinctive features. The 6714×9000 size of the concatenated feature map was reduced to 6714×600 using the ASO algorithm. Classification results were evaluated using six different classifiers based on the feature map obtained to determine the mushroom species. The nine classes of mushroom species were classified successfully with 95.45 % accuracy using the proposed model with the ASO algorithm and KNN classifier. The methodology introduces novel visualization techniques for interpreting CNN-based models' decisions in mushroom species classification tasks. Using metaheuristics-based CNN models with multi-feature fusion techniques allows the model to leverage diverse sources of information, potentially enhancing its ability to discriminate between mushroom species and achieve higher classification accuracy than existing methods. Synchronous motors play a significant role in a wide range of industrial applications. Their reliable operation is paramount. Any faults in synchronous motors can lead to costly downtime, decreased productivity, and potential safety hazards. By accurately diagnosing and classifying faults, we can proactively address issues before they escalate, ensuring the smooth operation of synchronous motors and minimizing the risk of equipment failure. The accurate diagnosis and fault detection in synchronous motors pose a significant challenge in their operation and maintenance. In the existing models, the feature data at various depths are not thoroughly extracted to maximize their feature extraction capability. Additionally, they employ a single support vector machine to make the final decision on the output. The single support vector machine may not consistently produce more accurate outcomes. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel fault diagnosis model based on a deep residual neural network and multiple support vector machines to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults of synchronous motors. The proposed model improves upon existing fault diagnosis models in two key aspects. Firstly, by employing a deep neural network, the model is able to effectively process and extract fault features from the motor fault dataset, capturing more nuanced information that may be missed by existing models. Secondly, the use of multiple support vector machines enhances the decision-making capability of the model, allowing for more accurate fault diagnosis. By combining these two aspects, the proposed model achieves superior diagnostic performance compared to single support vector machine-based models. Our proposed model has been rigorously evaluated using mechanical and electrical fault datasets, and the results of experimental tests clearly demonstrate its superior diagnostic performance when compared to existing fault diagnosis models. —The electrocardiograph (ECG) signal is an essential biomedical human body signal that shows heart activity and can diagnose cardiovascular diseases. Many researchers investigate heartbeats detection and classification based on ECG to achieve a high-performance method. The main problem with improving performance is increasing the computation, such as in many existing methods. In this paper, a new artificial neural network (ANN) method named Selective-Mask Artificial Neural Network (SMANN) is proposed to improve the performance with low computational processes. Furthermore, A new mixture of features from reused the QRS-detection stage features and the others features from the RR-interval and between-RR are used to decrease the computation for features extraction. The proposed method performance evaluation is based on the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database using MATLAB program for software evaluation moreover a hardware implementation. The proposed method’s promising results show high accuracy of 99.9224 %, and the total classification errors for the SMANN are 80 comparing with the 583 errors for the same data with traditional ANN. The method with low error assists the clinical decision-maker in diagnosing the long-time ECG signals or the real-time monitoring. It was implemented as a prototype wearable system using Node-MCU with the internet of things (IoT). Bird classification using audio data can be beneficial in assisting ornithologists, bird watchers and environmentalists. However, due to the complex environment in the jungles, it is difficult to identify birds by visual inspection. Hence, identification via acoustical means may be a better option in such an environment. This study aims to classify endemic Bornean birds using their sounds. Thirty-five (35) acoustic features have been extracted from the pre-recorded soundtracks of birds. In this paper, a novel approach for selecting an optimum number of features using Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) has been proposed to give better classification accuracy. It is found that using a Nearest Centroid (NC) technique with LDA produces the optimum classification results of bird sounds at 96.7% accuracy with reduced computational power. The low computational complexity is an added advantage for handheld portable devices with minimal computing power, which can be used in birdwatching expeditions. Comparison results have been provided with and without LDA using NC and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) classifiers. It has been demonstrated that both classifiers with LDA outperform those without LDA. Maximum accuracies for both NC and ANN with LDA, with NC and the ANN classifiers requiring 7 and 10 LDAs to achieve the optimum accuracy, respectively, are 96.7%. However, ANN classifier with LDA is more computationally complex. Hence, this is significant as the simpler NC classifier with LDA, which does not require expensive processing power, may be used on the portable and affordable device for bird classification purposes. Deep-learning models play a significant role in modern software solutions, with the capabilities of handling complex tasks, improving accuracy, automating processes, and adapting to diverse domains, eventually contributing to advancements in various industries. This study provides a comparative study on deep-learning techniques that can also be deployed on resource-constrained edge devices. As a novel contribution, we analyze the performance of seven Convolutional Neural Network models in the context of data augmentation, feature extraction, and model compression using acoustic data. The results show that the best performers can achieve an optimal trade-off between model accuracy and size when compressed with weight and filter pruning followed by 8-bit quantization. In adherence to the study workflow utilizing the forest sound dataset, MobileNet-v3-small and ACDNet achieved accuracies of 87.95% and 85.64%, respectively, while maintaining compact sizes of 243 KB and 484 KB, respectively. In detecting large-scale attacks, deep neural networks (DNNs) are an effective approach based on high-quality training data samples. Feature selection and feature extraction are the primary approaches for data quality enhancement for high-accuracy intrusion detection. However, their enhancement root causes usually present weak relationships to the differences between normal and attack behaviors in the data samples. Thus, we propose a Classification Tendency Difference Index (CTDI) model for feature selection and extraction in intrusion detection. The CTDI model consists of three indexes: Classification Tendency Frequency Difference (CTFD), Classification Tendency Membership Difference (CTMD), and Classification Tendency Distance Difference (CTDD). In the dataset, each feature has many feature values (FVs). In each FV, the normal and attack samples indicate the FV classification tendency, and CTDI shows the classification tendency differences between the normal and attack samples. CTFD is the frequency difference between the normal and attack samples. By employing fuzzy C means (FCM) to establish the normal and attack clusters, CTMD is the membership difference between the clusters, and CTDD is the distance difference between the cluster centers. CTDI calculates the index score in each FV and summarizes the scores of all FVs in the feature as the feature score for each of the three indexes. CTDI adopts an Auto Encoder for feature extraction to generate new features from the dataset and calculate the three index scores for the new features. CTDI sorts the original and new features for each of the three indexes to select the best features. The selected CTDI features indicate the best classification tendency differences between normal and attack samples. The experiment results demonstrate that the CTDI features achieve better detection accuracy as classified by DNN for the Aegean WiFi Intrusion Dataset than their related works, and the detection enhancements are based on the improved classification tendency differences in the CTDI features. Neural networks overcome drawbacks of vision tasks by becoming convolutional in a wide range of layers. The salient map is affected by multilevels of strong pixels (superpixels) in global images and that is dependent on the hard threshold for their dividing. Deep neural networks have been established for saliency prediction of segmentation because the feature extraction must be suited to the input data. The convolutional neural network (CNN) also endures conflict between spatial pattern and a likeness of salient objects. Semantic segmentation is one of the approaches to continue classification based on these features. Therefore, upgrading the extraction process can be of use in saliency. In this work, we optimize DeepLab based on an atrous convolutional and a conditional random field (CRF) with a bottleneck in the semantic segmentation method, which serves for classification. The backbone of deep feature extraction is atrous convolution and the bottleneck based on CRF for hybrid saliency in the encoder-decoder system. The classification results are compared with some approaches for saliency prediction of recent deeper methods in an ISIC 2017 dataset. The purpose of this work is to increase the security of the perimeter of an area from unauthorized intrusions by creating an improved algorithm for classifying acoustic impacts recorded with a sensor system based on a phase-sensitive optical time reflectometer (phi-OTDR). The algorithm includes machine learning, so a dataset consisting of two classes was assembled. The dataset consists of two classes. The first class is the data of the steps, and the second class is other non-stepping influences (engine noise, a passing car, a passing cyclist, etc.). As an intrusion signal, a human walking signal is analyzed and recorded in frames of 5 s, which passed the threshold condition. Since, in most cases, the intruder moves on foot to overcome the perimeter, the analysis of the acoustic effects generated during the step will increase the efficiency of the perimeter detection tools. When walking quietly, step signals can be quite weak, and background signals can contain high energy and visually resemble the signals you are looking for. Therefore, an algorithm was created that processes space–time diagrams developed in real time, which are grayscale images. At the same time, during the processing of one image, two more images are calculated, which are the result of processing the denoised autoencoder and the created mathematical model of the adaptive correlation. Then, the three obtained images are fed to the input of the created three-channel neural network classifier, which includes convolutional layers for the automatic extraction of spatial features. In recent years, Peripheral blood smear is a generic analysis to assess the person’s health status. Manual testing of Peripheral blood smear images are difficult, time-consuming and is subject to human intervention and visual error. This method encouraged for researchers to present algorithms and techniques to perform the peripheral blood smear analysis with the help of computer-assisted and decision-making techniques. Existing CAD based methods are lacks in attaining the accurate detection of abnormalities present in the images. In order to mitigate this issue Deep Convolution Neural Network (DCNN) based automatic classification technique is introduced with the classification of eight groups of peripheral blood cells such as basophil, eosinophil, lymphocyte, monocyte, neutrophil, erythroblast, platelet, myocyte, promyocyte and metamyocyte. The proposed DCNN model employs transfer learning approach and additionally it carries three stages such as pre-processing, feature extraction and classification. Initially the pre-processing steps are incorporated to eliminate noisy contents present in the image by using Histogram Equalization (HE). It is enclosed to improve an image contrast. In order to distinguish the dissimilar class and segmentation approach is carried out with the help of Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) model whereas its centroid point optimality method with Slap Swarm based optimization strategy. Moreover some specific set of Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) features of the segmented images are extracted to augment the performance of proposed detection algorithm. Finally the extracted features are recorded by DCNN and the proposed classifier has the capability to extract their own features. Stress is a concerning issue in today's world. Stress in pregnancy harms both the development of children and the health of pregnant women. As a result, assessing the stress levels of working pregnant women is crucial to aid them in developing and growing professionally and personally. In the past, many machine-learning (ML) and deep-learning (DL) algorithms have been made to predict the stress of women. It does, however, have some problems, such as a more complicated design, a high chance of misclassification, a high chance of making mistakes, and less efficiency. With these considerations in mind, our article will use a deep-learning model known as the deep recurrent neural network (DRNN) to predict the stress levels of working pregnant women. Dataset preparation, feature extraction, optimal feature selection, and classification with DRNNs are all included in this framework. Since the existing music emotion classification researches focus on the single-modal analysis of audio or lyrics, the correlation among models are neglected, which lead to partial information loss. Therefore, a music emotion classification method based on deep learning and improved attention mechanism is proposed. First, the music lyrics features are extracted by Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) and Word2vec method, and the term frequency weight vector and word vector are obtained. Then, by using the feature extraction ability of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and the ability of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network to process the serialized data, and integrating the matching attention mechanism, an emotion analysis model based on CNN-LSTM is constructed. Finally, the output results of the deep neural network and CNN-LSTM model are fused, and the emotion types are obtained by Softmax classifier. The experimental analysis based on the selected data sets shows that the average classification accuracy of the proposed method is 0.848, which is better than the other comparison methods, and the classification efficiency has been greatly improved. The lack of labels is one of the major challenges in hyperspectral image (HSI) classification. Widely used Deep Learning (DL) models such as convolutional neural networks (CNNs) experience serious performance degradation when training samples are limited. In contrast, graph convolutional networks (GCNs) can simultaneously exploit the insufficient labeled data and massive unlabeled data of HSI in a semisupervised learning fashion. However, in order to reduce computational cost and mitigate noise, existing GCN-based classification methods usually perform superpixel segmentation as a preprocessing step and implement feature extraction as well as node classification on the predefined superpixel graph, where one superpixel might incorporate pixels with different labels. Moreover, the local spectral–spatial information within superpixels is generally ignored. To alleviate these two issues, we propose an end-to-end mixhop superpixel-based GCN (EMS-GCN) framework for HSI classification. Specifically, we first introduce the differentiable superpixel segmentation algorithm to map the pixel representations into a superpixel feature space, which allows refining the superpixel boundary with the training of the network. After that, a superpixel graph is constructed and fed into a novel mixhop superpixel-based GCN, where both the local information within superpixels and long-range information among superpixels are extracted, while the structure of the superpixel graph is updated at the same time. Finally, the enhanced superpixel representations are mapped back into a pixel feature space to conduct pixel-wise classification. Visual tracking of generic objects is one of the fundamental but challenging problems in computer vision. Here, we propose a novel fully convolutional Siamese network to solve visual tracking by directly predicting the target bounding box in an end-to-end manner. We first reformulate the visual tracking task as two subproblems: a classification problem for pixel category prediction and a regression task for object status estimation at this pixel. With this decomposition, we design a simple yet effective Siamese architecture based classification and regression framework, termed SiamCAR, which consists of two subnetworks: a Siamese subnetwork for feature extraction and a classification-regression subnetwork for direct bounding box prediction. Since the proposed framework is both proposal- and anchor-free, SiamCAR can avoid the tedious hyper-parameter tuning of anchors, considerably simplifying the training. To demonstrate that a much simpler tracking framework can achieve superior tracking results, we conduct extensive experiments and comparisons with state-of-the-art trackers on a few challenging benchmarks. Without bells and whistles, SiamCAR achieves leading performance with a real-time speed. Furthermore, the ablation study validates that the proposed framework is effective with various backbone networks, and can benefit from deeper networks. The dual-polarized Sentinel-1 synthetic aperture radar (SAR), which performs C-band SAR imaging day and night regardless of the weather, offers new opportunities for wetland cover monitoring in regions frequently covered by cloud. In this study, a decision tree (DT) classifier was applied to investigate the utility of Sentinel-1 for wetland classification in Poyang Lake, China. Six land cover classes were identified: water body, bare land, aquatic vegetation, cropland, forest, and urban area surrounding the lake. Two types of features were extracted from the dual-polarized SAR data, namely, the backscattering coefficients and the polarimetric decomposition components. Then, the DT classifier was trained and applied with backscattering features, polarimetric features, or a combination of the two features. The overall accuracy of all the classifiers was over 90% for the different feature combinations (98.02, 90.63, and 98.59%) for the classes in the lake area, compared with less than 78% (74.84, 63.01, and 77.29%) when the classes surrounding the lake were also considered, which demonstrates the potential of Sentinel-1 SAR data for wetland monitoring. The accuracy of different feature combinations increased in the following order: polarimetric features < backscattering features < combination of polarimetric and backscattering features. The artificial neural network, naïve Bayes, random forest, and adaptive boost algorithms were compared for the case of using backscattering features, and the adaptive boost algorithm showed lower performance than the other three algorithms. Electromyogram (EMG) signals have been increasingly used for hand and finger gesture recognition. However, most studies have focused on the wrist and whole-hand gestures and not on individual finger (IF) gestures, which are considered more challenging. In this study, we develop EMG-based hand/finger gesture classifiers based on fixed electrode placement using machine learning methods. Ten healthy subjects performed ten hand/finger gestures, including seven IF gestures. EMG signals were measured from three channels, and six time-domain (TD) features were extracted from each channel. A total of 18 features was used to build personalized classifiers for ten gestures with an artificial neural network (ANN), a support vector machine (SVM), a random forest (RF), and a logistic regression (LR). The ANN, SVM, RF, and LR achieved mean accuracies of 0.940, 0.876, 0.831, and 0.539, respectively. One-way analyses of variance and F-tests showed that the ANN achieved the highest mean accuracy and the lowest inter-subject variance in the accuracy, respectively, suggesting that it was the least affected by individual variability in EMG signals. Using only TD features, we achieved a higher ratio of gestures to channels than other similar studies, suggesting that the proposed method can improve the system usability and reduce the computational burden.
