2. The Relationship of Transformational Leadership and Perceived Organisational Support with Organizational Commitment: The mediating role of Employee Engagement.

This study proposed a conceptual model and examined the nature of the relationship between transformational leadership (TFL), perceived organisational support (POS), employee engagement (EE), and organisational commitment (OC) among employees in the Indian IT sector. It then examined the mediating effect of EE on the relationship between TFL, POS, and OC. The partial least squares equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was applied to validate the conceptual model. The findings revealed that TFL, POS and EE were significantly and positively related to OC. TFL had a greater significant effect on OC than POS. EE was found to partially mediate the relationship between TFL, POS, and OC. Control variables had a weak effect on EE and OC. However, Multigroup Analysis (MGA) revealed a significant difference in the EE of TFL between the lower and middle level managers. The findings confirm that direct policymakers and HR departments influence TFL and EE by adopting organisational interventions. Besides, its effect is also manifested in increasing the positive attitude and commitment towards the employees' work. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND: This study examines the relationship among transformational leadership dimensions, perceived organizational support, and organizational identity in the banking sector which has been scarce theoretically and tested empirically in a Turkish context. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study to explore the impact of transformational leadership on perceived organizational support and organizational identity. It is predicted that transformational leadership will stimulate organizational identity of employees working in banking sector through their perceived organizational support. METHODS: Using the survey method, 227 responses were collected from employees. A partial least squares structural equation model was constructed to test the reliability and validity of the measurement and the structural model. RESULTS: The study results show that inspirational motivation and individual consideration dimensions of transformational leadership are found to influence employees perceived organizational support whereas perceived organizational support has a strong effect on employees' organizational identity. However, perceived organizational support is found to mediate the relationship between inspirational motivation dimension of transformational leadership and organizational identity. The study also found a significant impact of individual consideration dimension of transformational leadership on employees' organizational identity. CONCLUSIONS: We believe that strong genuine organizational identity should result in organizational commitment. In the long run, we need to keep caring and addressing the maturity of individual consideration in the relationship between the employee and the organization within transformational leadership model. Integrating leadership and creativity theories, this study proposed and examined a model linking transformational leadership, perceived organizational support, affective organizational commitment, creativity, and performance. Structural equation modeling was thus performed using 362 employee–supervisor dyads from the international tourist hotels in Taiwan. The results indicated that both transformational leadership and perceived organizational support were significantly and positively related to employee affective organizational commitment, creativity, and performance, while affective organizational commitment had significantly positive influences on creativity and performance. Support was also found for the significant and positive mediating relationships between affective organizational commitment and the influences of both transformational leadership and perceived organizational support on creativity and performance. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings for hospitality are also discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study examines the effect of perceived organizational support and transformational leadership on the turnover intention of health workers at Hospital X, Mimika Regency through mediating organizational commitment. This research was conducted in ten work units at Hospital X Mimika Regency, Papua. This study uses saturated sampling. Primary data was obtained by distributing questionnaires to 103 health workers. Data analysis used partial least square (SEM-PLS) structural equation modeling with Smart-PLS 3.0 application. The results show that the perceived organizational support and transformational leadership had a negative and significant effect on turnover intention. The results of this study show a positive significant effect of perceived organizational support and transformational leadership on turnover intention and a negative significant effect organizational commitment on turnover intention. This study also found that organizational commitment has not been able to mediate the effect of perceived organizational support on turnover intention. From these findings, it should be underlined that the turnover intention of health workers will be high, if the organization and leaders do not pay attention to the welfare and needs of health workers, such as bonuses or benefits and salaries that are in accordance with the level of education, workload, and years of service. Equitable training and fair career promotion, giving authority and delegation to health workers in the decision-making process, providing advice, evaluation, and positive feedback. Dissertação de mestrado em Gestão de Unidades de Saúde, O objetivo deste estudo é analisar o papel mediador da perceção de suporte organizacional na relação entre a liderança transformacional e o empenhamento organizacional e intenção de turnover dos enfermeiros. Foi distribuído um questionário online, respondido por 277 enfermeiros ao longo de todo o território nacional de instituições públicas e privadas. Procedeu-se à modelagem de equações estruturais, estabelecendo a ligação entre as variáveis latentes, com o objetivo de testar as hipóteses do estudo. Os resultados indicaram que, a perceção de suporte organizacional assume um papel de mediação parcial, na relação entre a liderança transformacional e o empenhamento organizacional e uma mediação completa na relação entre a liderança transformacional e a intenção de turnover. Verificou-se, ainda, que a liderança transformacional está positivamente relacionada com a perceção de suporte organizacional dos colaboradores e que a perceção de suporte organizacional está positivamente relacionada com o empenhamento organizacional e negativamente relacionada com a intenção de turnover. Os resultados são discutidos e, posteriormente são apresentadas as contribuições do presente estudo para a prática da gestão de recursos humanos em enfermagem. São descritas algumas das limitações encontradas no desenvolvimento da investigação e, também, as futuras investigações para as quais este trabalho pode servir de base. Apesar de existirem investigações focadas na ligação direta entre as variáveis em estudo, este estudo apresenta uma contribuição diferenciada para a teoria, pois foca-se também nas relações indiretas entre os constructos. Desse modo, o presente trabalho tem um contributo para a comunidade científica, mas tem igual interesse para os líderes e organizações, principalmente em instituições de saúde., The purpose of this study is to analyze the mediating role of the perception of organizational support in the relationship between transformational leadership and nurses' organizational commitment and turnover intention. An online questionnaire was distributed and answered by 277 nurses from public and private institutions throughout the country. Structural equation modeling was performed, establishing the link between the latent variables, to test the study hypotheses. The results indicated that the perception of organizational support plays a role of partial mediation in the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational commitment, and a complete mediation in the relationship between transformational leadership and turnover intention. It was also found that transformational leadership is positively related to employees' perception of organizational support and that the perception of organizational support is positively related to organizational commitment and negatively related to turnover intention. The results are discussed, and contributions are presented to the practice of human resource management in nursing. Some limitations encountered in the development of the research are given as well as suggestions for future research for which this work can serve as a basis. Although there are studies that focus on the direct connection between the variables under study, this research presents a different input to the theory because it also focuses on the indirect relations between the constructs. Thus, this work has a contribution to the scientific community but is of equal interest to leaders and organizations, especially healthcare institutions.
