This study delves into optimizing production parameters and 3D printing (3Dp) conditions for alkaline‐treated 10% hemp fiber‐reinforced polycarbonate (PC) composites. Initially, composite filaments were extruded at 250°C (PCH250) and 230°C (PCH230) to assess the impact of varying melt mixing temperatures on thermal behavior. Thermal characterization was conducted using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). DSC analysis indicated consistent glass transition temperatures (Tg) across pure PC and the composites, while TGA revealed minimal thermal degradation in PCH230 compared to pure PC. Subsequently, to ascertain the optimal 3D printing temperature, specimens were printed at temperatures elevated by 10°C relative to their melt mixing temperatures (PCH250/260 and PCH230/240), followed by mechanical evaluation via tensile testing. PCH230/240 exhibited superior mechanical properties, demonstrating a 12% increase in tensile strength and a 29% increase in Young's modulus compared to pure PC. Additional testing at 230°C printing temperature (PCH230/230) demonstrated enhanced mechanical strength over PCH250/260 but inferior performance relative to PCH230/240, attributed to incomplete interlayer adhesion observed through SEM analysis. Consequently, the optimal composite melt mixing temperature was determined to be 230°C, with an accompanying 3D printing temperature of 240°C for optimal mechanical performance. Thermoplastic polycarbonate provides minimal structural weight and ductility and is a recyclable material. However, investigation of the characteristics of hybrid composites reinforced with woven glass and polycarbonate sheets is limited. This current study investigated the effect of integration of polycarbonate sheets on glass fiber‐epoxy hybrid composite performance. Non hybrid laminate was fabricated from eight layers of woven glass fiber impregnated with epoxy resin (NG). However, the hybrid samples utilized various symmetric stacking patterns which were made by alternating two processed polycarbonate (PC) sheets with six layers of woven glass fiber embedded with epoxy matrix. The manufacturing was made using the hand layup procedure. Mechanical testing includes compressive, tensile, bearing, and hardness was performed on hybrid and non‐hybrid composites. The results showed that employing PC sheets instead of fibers affect the laminate's strength, ductility, bearing capacity, and hardness. Utilization of PC sheets reduces both compressive and tensile strength. However, an enhancement in tensile, compressive, and bearing failure strain was achieved by 2.5%, 31.25% and 31.7%, respectively with hybrid composite having PC in the skin layers as compared with NG. The extent of failure damage is correlated with the position of the PC sheets in the tested samples. Gut microbiome composition is tied to diseases ranging from arthritis to cancer to depression. However, mechanisms of action are poorly understood, limiting development of relevant therapeutics. Organ‐on‐chip platforms, which model minimal functional units of tissues and can tightly control communication between them, are ideal platforms to study these relationships. Many gut microbiome models are published to date but devices are typically fabricated using oxygen permeable polydimethylsiloxane, requiring interventions to support anaerobic bacteria. To address this challenge, a platform is developed where the chips are fabricated entirely from gas‐impermeable polycarbonate without tapes or gaskets. These chips replicate polarized villus‐like structures of the native tissue. Further, they enable co‐cultures of commensal anaerobic bacteria Blautia coccoides on the surface of gut epithelia for two days within a standard incubator. Another complication of commonly used materials in organ‐on‐chip devices is high ad‐/absorption, limiting applications in high‐resolution microscopy and biomolecule interaction studies. For future communication studies between gut microbiota and distal tumors, an additional polycarbonate chip design is developed to support hydrogel‐embedded tissue culture. These chips enable high‐resolution microscopy with all relevant processing done on‐chip. Designed for facile linking, this platform will make a variety of mechanistic studies possible. The market for polycarbonate (PC), a versatile material, is growing rapidly. Despite its widespread use in many applications, poor chemical resistance and roughness have hindered its adoption as a substrate in solar cell technologies. Here, the first‐ever perovskite solar cell (PSC) is demonstrated on PC films. A solution‐processed planarizing layer is developed using a commercial ambient‐curable refractory resin through blade coating which decreased film roughness from 1.46 µm to 23 nm, lowered water vapor transmission rates (WVTR) by a half, and significantly improved solvent resistance enabling deposition of precursor inks. The PSCs are fabricated on the planarized PC substrate, with a customized ITO electrode with an average visible transparency of 78%, sheet resistance of 25 Ω/sq, and a safe bending radius of 20 mm. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) reached 13.0%. The unencapsulated PSCs retained 80% of initial PCE after 1776 h upon ISOS‐D‐1 shelf‐life tests. These results open new pathways for integrating solar cells in many products made from PC materials, such as ID cards, smart cards, windows, skylights, buildings, and product packaging, as well as introducing a new solution for planarization and solvent barrier that can be used for other types of optoelectronic devices (LEDs, transistors, etc.) and substrates. Highlights With the gradual acceleration of development in the modern electronics, there is a higher demand for insulating polymer composites with high thermal conductivity. Herein, the functionalized fillers were fabricated through first deposition of polydopamine (PDA) on boron nitride (BN) plates and then covalent modification of BN‐PDA and aluminum oxide (Al2O3) by γ‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES), respectively. Hybridized filler‐filled polycarbonate (PC) composites were prepared by partially substituting Al2O3 for BN plates with constant filler content. The PC composite filled with 9 wt% Al2O3 and 21 wt% BN (PCA3B7) achieved a thermal conductivity of 0.734 W mk−1, which is 217% and 21% higher than that of pure PC (0.231 W mk−1) and PCB (0.605 W mk−1), respectively. Besides, the PC composites exhibit excellent electrical insulation properties (1013 Ω cm), relatively good mechanical properties, and enhanced thermal stability. This PC composite, characterized by its superior comprehensive performance, holds significant promise as a thermal management material in electrical and electronic device applications. Functionalized fillers were fabricated via covalent and non‐covalent methods. The appropriate proportion of hybridized fillers showed synergistic effects. The composite's thermal conductivity was 217% higher than pure PC. The composite exhibited desirable electrical insulating characteristics and thermal stability. In recent years, there has been growing interest in using polymer nanocomposite membranes as a more advanced method for removing pollutants from water and treating wastewater for various purposes. In this study, thin‐film nanocomposite (TFN) membranes of polycarbonate/polyvinyl alcohol–titanium dioxide thin‐film (PC/PVA–TiO2) were fabricated by dip‐coating a PC substrate in a PVA/TiO2 solution. Various methods, including attenuated total reflectance‐Fourier transform infrared (ATR‐FTIR) spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE‐SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and water contact angle were utilized to assess the structural characteristics of the produced membranes. The PC/PVA thin‐film composite (TFC) and PC/PVA–TiO2 TFN membranes were then examined in a submerged membrane system to evaluate their effectiveness in filtering humic acid (HA) under various vacuum transmembrane pressure (0.3 and 0.6 bar) condition. The FTIR‐ATR results confirmed the formation of the active layer of PVA/TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs). It was observed that adding 1 wt.% of TiO2 NPs to the active layer of PVA/TiO2 significantly enhanced the water contact angle from 77.5° for PC support to 55.3° for PC/PVA–TiO2 (0.1) TFN membranes. Furthermore, the FE‐SEM results confirmed the formation of an active layer of PVA/TiO2 with a thickness of 237.87 nm. The pure water flux increased from 101.64 L/m2h for the PC/PVA TFC membrane to 144.02 L/m2h and 199.09 L/m2h for the PC/PVA–TiO2 (0.05) and PC/PVA–TiO2 (0.1) TFN membranes, respectively. Physical blending is an effective strategy for tailoring polymeric materials to specific application requirements. However, physically blended mixed plastics waste adds additional barriers in mechanical or chemical recycling. This difficulty arises from the intricate requirement for meticulous sorting and separation of the various polymers in the inherent incompatibility of mixed polymers during recycling. To overcome this impediment, this work furthers the emerging single‐monomer – multiple‐materials approach through the design of a bifunctional monomer that can not only orthogonally polymerize into two different types of polymers – specifically lactone‐based polyester and CO2‐based polycarbonate – but the resultant polymers and their mixture can also be depolymerized back to the single, original monomer when facilitated by catalysis. Specifically, the lactone/epoxide hybrid bifunctional monomer (BiLO) undergoes ring‐opening polymerization through the lactone manifold to produce polyester, PE(BiLO), and is also applied to ring‐opening copolymerization with CO2, via the epoxide manifold, to yield polycarbonate, PC(BiLO). Remarkably, a one‐pot recycling process of a BiLO‐derived PE/PC blend back to the constituent monomer BiLO in >99 % selectivity was achieved with a superbase catalyst at 150 °C, thereby effectively obviating the requirement for sorting and separation typically required for recycling of mixed polymers. Highlights Various sizing agents were prepared to enhance the interfacial properties between aramid fiber (AF) and polycarbonate (PC), as well as to enhance the mechanical properties of AF/PC composites. It was found that PC sizing agent, P‐GO sizing agent, and PSi‐GO sizing agent effectively coated the surface of AF from the FTIR and XPS and SEM results. The IFSS and mechanical properties of composites reinforced with fibers treated by the sizing agents exhibited significant improvement, as well as their single fiber tensile strength also improved. Specifically, when AF was treated with PSi‐GO sizing agent, the interfacial shear properties between AF and PC increased by a remarkable 78.69%, reaching 22.89 MPa compared to the original AF/PC composite, the tensile strength of the single‐filament exhibited an increment of 12.4% to 26.4 cN/dtex. Moreover, the tensile strength, flexural strength, and impact strength of the composite increased by 5.43%, 77.74%, and 54.71%, respectively. These improvement can be attributed to the GO with a higher concentration of chemical groups and excellent dispersion with modified with the silane agent. These findings suggest that coating the AF with sizing agents can effectively enhance its interfacial adhesion with the matrix, which is useful for its application as the reinforcement in the composites. Adding GO to the sizing agent to change the Aramid fabric surface properties. Silane coupling agent was used to improve the dispersion of GO on the fiber surface. Plastics are versatile materials, offering lightweight, durable, and affordable solutions across various industries. However, their non‐degradable nature poses challenges by end of their life. This study presented an innovative carbonyl extraction method to utilize waste poly(bisphenol A carbonate) (PC) as reaction precursor to synthesis of activated furan as precursor for photoswitchable Stenhouse adducts. This innovative chemical strategy not only generated N,N'‐functionalized barbiturates but also provided an eco‐friendly and cost‐effective alternative to traditional synthesis methods. The method presented hereby not only promotes sustainability by repurposing waste polycarbonate as carbonyl equivalent under green conditions but also yielded reusable bisphenol A (BPA). Furthermore, the derived activated furans exhibited their functionality by forming colored donor‐acceptor Stenhouse adducts (DASAs) on aminated polymer surfaces. This work demonstrated a transition from a linear plastics economy toward a circular one, highlighting the potential of plastic waste as a resource for creating materials with improved properties. This work is the first systematic study of the microhardness, scratch resistance, and abrasion resistance of protective silica‐like layers deposited on polycarbonate by atmospheric pressure plasma‐enhanced chemical vapor deposition (AP PECVD) from tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDSO). The influence of the layer composition on the abovementioned mechanical properties was considered in detail. It has been found that the films deposited from HMDSO at 110°C are characterized by a microhardness value that is almost three times higher than that of the films deposited from TEOS under similar conditions. The lower carbon content and, most likely, the partial substitution of oxygen in the SiO2 matrix with carbon, leading to the formation of an oxycarbide structure, are responsible for the improved mechanical properties of the films deposited from HMDSO. We here report the organocatalytic and temperature‐controlled depolymerization of biobased poly(limonene carbonate) providing access to its trans‐configured cyclic carbonate as the major product. The base TBD (1,5,7‐triazabicyclo[4.4.0]dec‐5‐ene) offers a unique opportunity to break down polycarbonates via end‐group activation or main chain scission pathways as supported by various controls and computational analysis. These energetically competitive processes represent an unprecedented divergent approach to polycarbonate recycling. The trans limonene carbonate can be converted back to its polycarbonate via ring‐opening polymerization using the same organocatalyst in the presence of an alcohol initiator, offering thus a potential circular and practical route for polycarbonate recycling. In this paper, we present gold‐plating polycarbonate (PC) microchannels. The fabrication of the gold microfluidic channels is achieved by tuning the sequence of reagent insertion into milled and closed submillimeter PC system channels. The resulting gold surface can be utilized in many applications where the benefits of microfluidics, (bio)chemistry of surfaces, and electrochemistry can be combined. Here, we combine the advantages of electrochemistry with microfluidics by mixing the gold sensor with microfluidics. This approach differs from the classic one – the sensor will undergo modifications (e. g. shape and size) depending on the specific scientific problem and will be designed individually; hence its characteristics will be changed. Our goal in this work is to indicate new possibilities for combining two methodologies – electrochemistry and microfluidics. In our work, we emphasize that it confirms the validity of our chosen concept (proof‐of‐concept). In this work, we present one such application, the use of a gold microfluidic channel as a working electrode (WE). We describe the microchip's construction and electrochemical characterization, including the gold flow‐through WE, the Ag/AgCl wire pseudo‐reference, and the Pt auxiliary electrode. Polymeric foams are widely used in many industrial applications due to their light weight and superior thermal, mechanical, and optical properties. Currently, increasing research efforts is being directed towards the development of greener foam formulations that circumvent the use of isocyanates/blowing agents that are commonly used in the production of foam materials. Here, a straightforward, one‐pot method is presented to prepare self‐blown polycarbonate (PC) foams by exploiting the (decarboxylative) S‐alkylation reaction for in situ generation of the blowing agent (CO2). The concomitant formation of a reactive alcohol intermediate promotes a cascade ring‐opening polymerization of the cyclic carbonates to yield a cross‐linked polymer network. It is shown that these hydroxyl‐functionalized polycarbonate‐based foams can be easily recycled into films through thermal compression molding. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that complete hydrolytic degradation of the foams is possible, thus offering the potential for zero‐waste materials. This straightforward and versatile process broadens the scope of isocyanate‐free, self‐foaming materials, opening a new pathway for next‐generation environmentally friendly foams. Because of advantages such as remarkable mechanical properties and the ease of recycling, fiber‐reinforced thermoplastic polymer composites have been increasing in importance in industrial, transport, and sporting potential extraordinary applications. To fabricate polycarbonate (PC) components with lightweight and high mechanical properties, short glass fiber (SGF), long carbon fiber (LCF) reinforcement, and foaming technology were used in this study. The effects of SGF, LCF, and SGF/LCF on the mechanical properties and foaming quality of PC samples were carefully investigated and compared. The results show that SGF has a better foaming nucleation effect than LCF, and the mechanical enhancement effect of LCF is more significant than that of SGF. The combination of SGF and LCF can effectively improve the cell quality of foam samples and significantly enhance their mechanical properties. Therefore, a comprehensive application of the fiber‐reinforcement effect of PC resin is proposed. The objective of this study was to examine membrane filtration of a single stranded DNA (ssDNA) with 60 thymine nucleotides, and to elucidate the variables controlling its transmission across track-etched porous membranes. Dead end filtration measurements were performed using different pore size membranes (10, 15, and 30 nm) at different transmembrane pressures in solutions with ionic strength ranging from 0 to 1000 mM NaCl. The diffusivity of the ssDNA was determined using fluorescence recovery after photobleaching, yielding hydrodynamic radii ranging from 1.6 to 2.8 nm, with values decreasing with increasing solution ionic strength. Despite the small ssDNA/membrane pore size, nearly 100% rejection was observed for measurements performed with the 10 and 15 nm pore size membranes under low-ionic strength conditions. These high rejections can be attributed to strong repulsive electrostatic ssDNA-membrane interactions. With increasing ionic strength, electrostatic interactions as well as the effective size of the ssDNA decreases and the flexibility of the ssDNA increases, leading to a reduction in ssDNA rejection. A design of experiments approach was used to plan filtration experiments that adequately covered the variable space with a manageable number of experiments. The results yielded an empirical expression relating ssDNA rejection to pore size, solution ionic strength and transmembrane pressure. There was evidence of flow induced elongation at high-transmembrane pressures in the 30 nm pore size membranes, but not in the smaller pore size membranes. In this work, a compact conformal swastik frequency‐selective surface (FSS) has been proposed for shielding 4G/5G signals. The resonating unit of FSS is realized using swastik geometry. The proposed FSS offers resonance at 1800 MHz for 4G band and 3300 MHz for sub‐6 5G band. The unit‐cell dimension is 0.11λ0 × 0.11λ0, where λ0 is the free space wavelength corresponding to the lowest resonating frequency. The proposed FSS provides a stable response for both the TE and TM modes of polarization up to 60°. To validate the simulated results, the FSS was fabricated and tested. This study introduces a reliable and inexpensive magnetic dispersive solid phase extraction to extract imipramine and its primary metabolite (desipramine) from urine samples. To accomplish this aim, Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles were synthesized by sonication, subsequently, polycarbonate was precipitated gradually onto the surface of them to form the adsorbent. Extraction recoveries of 85% and 76%, enrichment factors of 57 and 51, limits of detection of 2.5 and 2.8 μg/L, and limits of quantification of 8.3 and 9.3 μg/L were obtained for imipramine and desipramine under the optimal conditions, respectively. In addition, relative standard deviations for intra‐ (n = 6) and inter‐day (n = 5) precisions at two concentrations (50 and 100 μg/L of each analyte) were less than or equal to 4%. In order to increase the applicability of wollastonite (Wo) in polycarbonate (PC) polymer, surface modification of Wo was carried out using different modifiers containing silane coupling agent KH570, stearic acid (SA), and sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate. The physical, physic‐chemical, and application properties of modified Wo were evaluated. Results showed that KH570 modified Wo had narrower particle size distribution, higher absolute zeta potential and were more evenly distributed. Scanning electron microscope study confirmed their changes in morphology and aspect ratio during the modification process. The tensile strength of Wo/PC composites, in which KH570‐modified Wo was used were superior to those in which original Wo or other modifiers modified samples were used. The maximum tensile strength of 65 ± 1 MPa was obtained by adding 15 wt% KH570‐modified Wo. Thermal analysis indicated that adding Wo to the polycarbonate increased the residue content but decreased the thermal decomposition temperature and glass transition temperature slightly, regardless of unmodified or modified Wo. These results indicated that the well‐modified Wo mineral had the potential to replace expensive carbon and glass fibers as fillers in polycarbonate products. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Interfacial bond formation during sputter deposition of metal‐oxide thin films onto polycarbonate (PC) is investigated by ab initio molecular dynamics simulations and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis of PC|X interfaces (X = Al2O3, TiO2, TiAlO2). Generally, the predicted bond formation is consistent with the experimental data. For all three interfaces, the majority of bonds identified by XPS are (C─O)─metal bonds, whereas C─metal bonds are the minority. Compared to the PC|Al2O3 interface, the PC|TiO2 and PC|TiAlO2 interfaces exhibit a reduction in the measured interfacial bond density by 75 and ∼65%, respectively. Multiplying the predicted bond strength with the corresponding experimentally determined interfacial bond density shows that Al2O3 exhibits the strongest interface with PC, while TiO2 and TiAlO2 exhibit ∼70 and ∼60% weaker interfaces, respectively. This can be understood by considering the complex interplay between the metal‐oxide composition, the bond strength, and the population of bonds formed across the interface. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A series of TiO2/SiO2 catalysts were prepared by hydrolysis and used in the transesterification of diphenyl carbonate (DPC) and 1,4‐butanediol (BDO) to produce polycarbonate diol (PCDL). The physical properties of TiO2/SiO2 solid acid catalysts were characterized, and the relationship between their structural features and catalytic transesterification reaction was analyzed. The effects of various reaction conditions such as hydrolysis procedure, transesterification temperature, catalyst amount, and the mole ratio of the starting materials on the catalytic synthesis of PCDL were investigated. The maximum catalytic activity was based on the TiO2 : SiO2=3 : 1 with hydrolysis procedure of adding the Ti/Si mixture (A) to deionized water and anhydrous ethanol (B). The as‐synthesized TiO2/SiO2‐A‐to‐B catalyst exhibits rough surface with the average pore size of 6.75 nm, and the total acid amount of 1.07 mmol/g. The PCDL yield of transesterification reached 89.8 %, and the number average molecular weight reached 9074 g/mol under the optimal reaction conditions, and the molecular weight of the PCDL product could be adjusted. This study addresses the effect of the coatings prepared from aramid nanofibers (ANFs) on the surface treatment of aramid fiber and reinforced polycarbonate (PC) composite (AF/PC). Aramid fiber's smooth, inert surface bonds poorly with polycarbonate. In this research, the PC‐ANF coating was made by the PC/CH2Cl2 solution, which was modified by aramid nanofibers to improve the interfacial adhesion and compatibility of aramid fiber/PC composites. What's more, the silane (KH570) was added to improve the dispersion and interfacial strength of ANF and PC. The results showed the water contact angle of the aramid fiber modified by PSi‐ANF coating was reduced, indicating the modified fiber has a better wettability. The interfacial bonding strength between PC and aramid fiber increased by 77.2%. The AF/PC composites were prepared by hot‐compression, which the aramid fiber wovens treated with P‐ANF coating, PSi‐ANF coating. The tensile strength, flexural strength, interlaminar shear strength, and impact strength of the AF/PC composite reinforced by AF treated with PSi‐ANF containing 2.0 wt% ANF increased by 62.0%, 81.9%, 49.5%, and 27.6%, respectively. Therefore, this study demonstrates that incorporating ANF interphase may offer an innovative and practical way for enhancing the interface bonding properties of aramid‐reinforced composites. A flame‐retardant composite material (designated as GFPA) was prepared by incorporating a blend of polycarbonate‐acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (PC/ABS, 80/20 wt%) and two additives of potassium perfluorobutane sulfonate (PFBS) at 0.5 wt% and graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) at 1 wt%. The structural characterization results indicated that incorporating both GNP and PFBS significantly improved the dispersibility of the additives compared to using either of them individually. Furthermore, PFBS exhibited dual properties of a flame‐retardant and PC/ABS compatibilizer, which resulted in improved flame‐retardancy and mechanical characteristics of the GFPA material. The GFPA material was found to exhibit good flame‐retardancy properties with a V‐0 rating as determined by the UL‐94 method and a limited oxygen index of 27.6 %. In addition, the GFPA material exhibited remarkably improved mechanical properties such as enhanced impact strength (1.33 times), tensile strength (3.73 times), and flexural strength (8.61 times) compared to those of the neat PC/ABS composite. Aliphatic polycarbonates (aPCs) have become increasingly popular as functional materials due to their biocompatibility and capacity for on‐demand degradation. Advances in polymerization techniques and the introduction of new functional monomers have expanded the library of aPCs available, offering a diverse range of chemical compositions and structures. To accommodate the emerging requirements of new applications in biomedical and energy‐related fields, various manufacturing techniques have been adopted for processing aPC‐based materials. However, a summary of these techniques has yet to be conducted. The aim of this paper is to enrich the toolbox available to researchers, enabling them to select the most suitable technique for their materials. In this paper, a concise review of the recent progress in processing techniques, including controlled self‐assembly, electrospinning, additive manufacturing, and other techniques, is presented. Summary: Polycarbonate (PC) is a polymer containing Bisphenol A (BPA) monomers in its structure. It is frequently used in manufacturing consumer goods such as food storage containers, reusable water bottles, infant feeding bottles, microwave containers and microwaveable cups. Under varying pH and temperature conditions, additives used in the plastic manufacture can leach in trace levels into the food in contact and negatively affect human health over time. Therefore, quantitative determination of BPA in food can be of great significance. The present study analysed the migration of BPA in coffee from different qualities of polycarbonate microwaveable cups under the influence of microwave heating by reversed‐phase ultra‐high‐performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC). The amount of BPA detected in samples ranged from undetected to 391.105 ± 0.05 μg kg−1. Results obtained indicate that BPA migration is minimal in good‐quality polycarbonate cups. Poor‐quality cups are accelerated time‐dependent; increased contact duration between polycarbonate and hot contact medium leads to more significant BPA migration. As the application of polycarbonate (PC) in various fields continues to expand, the requirements for its flame retardancy are becoming increasingly stringent. To enhance the flame retardancy of PC, employing multi‐element synergistic effects and developing novel flame retardants are considered as vital strategies. This work introduces a blend of 1,3‐Benzenedisulfonic acid dipotassium salt (KSP) and three types of phenyl polysiloxanes, namely Octaphenylcyclotetrasiloxane (P4), Octaphenylsilsesquioxane (OPS), and ladder‐like Polyphenylsesquioxane (L‐PPSQ), into PC to create composites. The thermal stability and combustion properties of these composites were characterized using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), limiting oxygen index (LOI), UL‐94 vertical burning, and cone calorimetry tests. Composites with phenyl polysiloxanes achieved a UL‐94 V‐0 flame retardant rating for 1.6 mm thickness sample and reduced the peak heat release rate by 30%–45%. PC composites with 3% OPS and 0.03% KSP achieved optimal performance, howing a LOI of 34.5%, a 45.4% reduction in peak heat release, and a 40.5% reduction in total smoke release. Currently available focal knee resurfacing implants (FKRIs) are fully or partially composed of metals, which show a large disparity in elastic modulus relative to bone and cartilage tissue. Although titanium is known for its excellent osseointegration, the application in FKRIs can lead to potential stress‐shielding and metal implants can cause degeneration of the opposing articulating cartilage due to the high resulting contact stresses. Furthermore, metal implants do not allow for follow‐up using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).To overcome the drawbacks of using metal based FKRIs, a biomimetic and MRI compatible bi‐layered non‐resorbable thermoplastic polycarbonate‐urethane (PCU)‐based FKRI was developed. The objective of this preclinical study was to evaluate the mechanical properties, biocompatibility and osteoconduction of a novel Bionate® 75D ‐ zirconium oxide (B75D‐ZrO2) composite material in vitro and the osseointegration of a B75D‐ZrO2 composite stem PCU implant in a caprine animal model. The tensile strength and elastic modulus of the B75D‐ZrO2 composite were characterized through in vitro mechanical tests under ambient and physiological conditions. In vitro biocompatibility and osteoconductivity were evaluated by exposing human mesenchymal stem cells to the B75D‐ZrO2 composite and culturing the cells under osteogenic conditions. Cell activity and mineralization were assessed and compared to Bionate® 75D (B75D) and titanium disks. The in vivo osseointegration of implants containing a B75D‐ZrO2 stem was compared to implants with a B75D stem and titanium stem in a caprine large animal model. After a follow‐up of 6 months, bone histomorphometry was performed to assess the bone‐to‐implant contact area (BIC). Mechanical testing showed that the B75D‐ZrO2 composite material possesses an elastic modulus in the range of the elastic modulus reported for trabecular bone. The B75D‐ZrO2 composite material facilitated cell mediated mineralization to a comparable extent as titanium. A significantly higher bone‐to‐implant contact (BIC) score was observed in the B75D‐ZrO2 implants compared to the B75D implants. The BIC of B75D‐ZrO2 implants was not significantly different compared to titanium implants. A biocompatible B75D‐ZrO2 composite approximating the elastic modulus of trabecular bone was developed by compounding B75D with zirconium oxide. In vivo evaluation showed an significant increase of osseointegration for B75D‐ZrO2 composite stem implants compared to B75D polymer stem PCU implants. Polymeric materials implanted in the human body are usually invisible under X‐ray, and the mixing of heavy metal salts into polymeric materials by physical compounding often poses compatibility problems. A new iodine‐containing cyclic carbonate monomer, 4‐iodo‐N‐(2‐oxo‐1,3‐dioxan‐5‐yl)benzamide (IBTMC), is synthesized, which has a degradable carbonate group as its basic structural unit and iodine atoms attached to the side chain in the form of covalent bonds. The ring‐opening polymerization of IBTMC is achieved at room temperature under the catalysis of the solid superbase 1,5,7‐triazabicyclo[4.4.0]dec‐5‐ene (TBD). The structure and X‐ray developing ability of the synthesized polycarbonate are characterized by 1H‐NMR, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDS), Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), and micro‐computed tomography (Micro‐CT). The iodine atoms remain bound to the polymer as covalent bonds after a series of reactions and exhibit a high level of X‐ray opacity. In this paper, we report the surface activation of polycarbonate by linear dielectric barrier plasma treatment at one atmospheric pressure. Different analytical techniques were used to determine the changes in the surface characteristics of polycarbonate: Static and dynamic water contact angle examinations showed that the hydrophobicity of the surface decreased after being exposed to linear atmospheric pressure plasma; optical emission spectroscopy was used to identify the chemical species in the plasma before and after surface exposure; the variations in the surface morphology and chemical structure of polycarbonate were confirmed by atomic force microscopy and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The latter clearly showed an increased surface concentration of oxygen‐containing functional groups after linear atmospheric pressure plasma treatment. Our experimental results display the essential role of polar atmospheric contaminants in the interaction between linear plasma and a polycarbonate surface and demonstrate that the input plasma power can be tuned to tailor the final hydrophilicity of the polymeric material. In this work, a facile strategy is proposed to construct thermal conductive network in polycarbonate (PC)/boron nitride (BN) composites via incorporating a small amount of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) assisted by high shear injection molding process. A synergy is achieved between BN and CNTs in building thermal conductive pathways within PC, as confirmed by scanning electron microscopy observations and rheological analysis. The obtained thermal conductivities are well fitted with the Agari model, which further confirms the efficacy of constructing thermal conductive pathways within PC/BN/CNT composites. The thermal conductivity of PC/BN 30 wt%/CNT 2 wt% composite reaches as high as 2.05 W mK−1, which is ≈832% and 45.4% higher than that of pure PC and PC/BN 30 wt% composite, respectively. In addition, PC/BN/CNT composites exhibit excellent electrical insulation, low dielectric properties as well as reasonable mechanical performance, which show potential applications in advanced engineering fields. In this study, the investigation of damage caused by a spherical steel projectile on the polycarbonate (PC) panels has been undertaken both numerically and experimentally. The material properties are obtained from both static and dynamic tests. High‐velocity impact experiments are performed using a pressure‐based projectile launching system. The effect of panel curvatures and impact locations on the deformation are investigated experimentally. The impact locations are selected as both at the plate center and near the edge of the plate. A validation study is performed by analyzing the impact response of a PC plate as previously presented in the literature and subsequently comparing it with the results obtained. An analysis of the impact behavior of PC panels is carried out through numerical simulations using finite element program (LS‐DYNA). The effect of boundary conditions on the impact response is also investigated numerically. Plastic strains, von Mises stresses, dent depth, and energy absorption are obtained. It is indicated by the results that the deformation behavior of PC panels exhibits a strain rate dependence. Additionally, the deformation behavior is influenced by panel curvatures and boundary conditions, emphasizing the necessity to consider these factors in the design of structures, such as canopies made of PC panels. Developing light weight polymer based composites dispersed with novel reinforcements which can function well in the presence of aggressive environments is an active research field in the materials engineering. Hence, in the current work, halloysite nanotubes (1 %, 2 %, 4 %, 6 %, 8 % and 10 % by weight) were reinforced into acrylonitrile butadiene styrene/polycarbonate blend and the role of reinforcing phases on the mechanical performance under aggressive environmental conditions has been evaluated. Hardness was measured as gradually increased in the composites with the increased content of the reinforcements. Impact strength of the composites was observed as increased in the composites up to 4 % reinforcement and further decreased. Increased strength was measured for the composite up to 2 % reinforcement. Ductility of the composites was decreased as reflected form the decreased % of elongation with the higher fraction of reinforcements due to induced brittleness. The composites were exposed to diluted sulfuric acid for 3 h and 6 h at 60 °C and then subjected to tensile loading. In this study, acrylonitrile‐butadiene‐styrene and polycarbonate substrates plastics were coated with aluminum by physical vapor deposition method in order to determine which one is a better choice for outdoor reflector technology. This investigation has been done by applying the coating on a reflector that is already been used in the lighting industry. Scraping test, caustic soda and caustic potash test, reflection efficiency performance test and surface roughness test methods were used to determine the selection. Coatings on acrylonitrile‐butadiene‐styrene and polycarbonate plastic materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive x‐ray spectrometry. Although acrylonitrile‐butadiene‐styrene plastic material is easier for injection molding and cheaper than polycarbonate material, the results showed that polycarbonate plastic material is more efficient than acrylonitrile‐butadiene‐styrene plastic material, especially in terms of surface roughness and reflection efficiency. Polycarbonate diols (PCDLs) are mainly used as soft segments for the synthesis of high‐performance polyurethanes. In this work, dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and aliphatic diols are selected as reactants and CH3COONa is used as a catalyst to synthesize a series of PCDLs with different structures and different molecular weights by ester exchange polymerization reaction. The chemical structures of the PCDLs are characterized by FT‐IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR, and the components of the distillates in the ester exchange stage are analyzed by gas chromatography. Due to the azeotropic problem of DMC and by‐product methanol during the ester exchange process, It is difficult to design and control the reactions of PCDLs to obtain the target molecular weight products. Based on the reaction process of PCDLs, we proposed a method to design and synthesize the target molecular weight of PCDLs by using the reaction molar ratio of DMC and aliphatic diols involved in the transesterification reaction, which is not affected by the conditions of transesterification reaction and is applicable to the reactions of DMC with various diols. The development of controlled biodegradable materials is of fundamental importance in immunodrug delivery to spatiotemporally controlled immune stimulation but avoid systemic inflammatory side effects. Based on this, polycarbonate nanogels are developed as degradable micellar carriers for transient immunoactivation of lymph nodes. An imidazoquinoline‐type TLR7/8 agonist is covalently conjugated via reactive ester chemistry to these nanocarriers. The nanogels not only provide access to complete disintegration by the hydrolysable polymer backbone, but also demonstrate a gradual disintegration within several days at physiological conditions (PBS, pH 6.4–7.4, 37 °C). These intrinsic properties limit the lifetime of the carriers but their payload can still be successfully leveraged for immunological studies in vitro on primary immune cells as well as in vivo. For the latter, a spatiotemporal control of immune cell activation in the draining lymph node is found after subcutaneous injection. Overall, these features render polycarbonate nanogels a promising delivery system for transient activation of the immune system in lymph nodes and may consequently become very attractive for further development toward vaccination or cancer immunotherapy. Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) have become promising candidate to replace common liquid electrolyte due to highly improved security. However, the practical use of SPEs is still restricted by their decomposition and breakage at the electrode interfacial layer especially at high voltage. Herein, a new cationic covalent organic framework (COF) is designed and synthesized as a reinforced skeleton to resist the constant oxidative decomposition of solid polycarbonate electrolyte, which can stabilize cathode electrolyte interphase layer to develop long‐term cycle solid lithium metal battery. The ultralow HOMO energy (−12.55 eV according to density functional theory (DFT) calculations), reflecting its oxidation resistance at positive potential, would be responsible for the high decomposition voltage of 5.2 V versus Li+/Li of solid polycarbonate electrolyte. Furthermore, the smooth surface of interfacial layer and inhibited decomposition reaction at cathode side is confirmed in solid LiCoO2 cell, which realizes high initial capacity up to 160.3 mAh g−1 at 0.1 C and greatly improved stability in 4.5 V class solid polymer lithium metal battery with high capacity retention over 200 cycles. Defined conjugation of functional molecules to block copolymer end groups is a powerful strategy to enhance the scope of micellar carriers for drug delivery. In this study, an approach to access well‐defined polycarbonate‐based block copolymers by labeling their end groups with single fluorescent dye molecules is established. Following controlled polymerization conditions, the block copolymers' primary hydroxy end group can be converted into activated pentafluorophenyl ester carbonates and subsequently aminolyzed with fluorescent dyes that are equipped with primary amines. During a solvent‐evaporation process, the resulting end group dye‐labeled block copolymers self‐assemble into narrowly dispersed ∼25 nm‐sized micelles and simultaneously encapsulate hydrophobic (immuno‐)drugs. The covalently attached fluorescent tracer can be used to monitor both uptake into cells and stability under biologically relevant conditions, including incubation with blood plasma or during blood circulation in zebrafish embryos. By encapsulation of the toll‐like receptor 7/8 (TLR7/8) agonist CL075, immune stimulatory polymeric micelles are generated that get internalized by various antigen‐presenting dendritic cells and promote their maturation. Adhesive joints play a crucial role in enhancing the structural integrity and performance of 3D printed parts. The purpose of this study is to investigate the failure load and behavior of polycarbonate (PC) single lap joints (SLJs) produced by fused deposition modeling (FDM) using experimental and finite element analysis (FEA) methods. The FEA of joints presents a new approach by integrating PC substrates with Hill yield criterion, transversely isotropic material and adhesive layer with cohesive zone modeling (CZM). The study focused on the effect of printing angles (0°, 45°, and 90°) and overlap lengths (12.5 and 25 mm) on the performance of SLJs. The influence of 3D printing parameters on the mechanical behavior of PC joints was investigated by tensile testing of SLJs. The experimental failure load was 1586 N for a 12.5 mm joint at 90° and 4115 N for a 25.4 mm joint at 0°. Comparison of the experimental and FEA failure loads of the joints showed maximum and minimum differences of 11.98% and 1.34%, respectively. As one of the five major engineering plastics, polycarbonate (PC) has been applied in many industrial fields. However, its poor wear‐ and UV‐ resistance greatly limit its further promotion. Inspired by the dual benefits of inorganic–organic hybrid filler, in this study, we developed a novel type of catechol group‐ and nano silica‐containing reinforcing filler (CFNS) for the preparation of wear‐ and UV‐resistant PC‐based composite films. With a low level of filler content (1%), the coefficient of friction (COF) was distinctly reduced from 0.14 (neat PC film) to 0.06 (composite film), benefiting from a wear‐resistant surface layer. On the basis of ensuring high and stable transmittance for visible light, the composite films also exhibit strengthened capacity of UV shielding for the waveband from 293 to 400 nm. In addition, the general performance of composite films including tensile strength, tensile modulus, and thermal stability have also been improved in different degrees. Therefore, the composite films reinforced by CFNS are highly promising for a wide range of applications, ascribed to their improved general properties as well as two additional functions of wear‐ and UV‐resistance. The significant development of catalytic biomass conversion has provided a large library of chemicals ready for subsequent upgrading to polymerisable monomers for the design and preparation of sustainable polymers. In this study, hydroxyethylation of eugenol by using green ethylene carbonate as alkylation reagent and cheap tetrabutylammonium iodide ionic liquids as green solvents and catalysts produced 2‐(4‐allyl‐2‐methoxyphenoxy)ethan‐1‐ol with a 85% yield, which could be used to construct an in situ CO2 capture and conversion system by taking the reversible chemistry of alcoholic compounds with CO2 in the presence of superbases, on which α,ω‐diene functionalized carbonate monomers were successfully prepared and were applied in thiol‐ene click and acyclic diene metathesis polymerisation (ADMET), producing a series of poly(thioether carbonate)s and unsaturated aromatic aliphatic polycarbonates with moderate molecular weights and satisfactory thermal properties. Conductive polymer composites (CPCs) based on polycarbonate/multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (PC/MWCNT) were fabricated by melt mixing. By selecting the PCs with different molecular weights, three kinds of PC/MWCNT composites were obtained. The CPCs containing low viscous PC (lPC) had the lowest percolation threshold (0.06 vol%) as compared to those of medium viscous PC (mPC) (0.07 vol%) and high viscous PC (hPC) (0.13 vol%), which was attributed to the best MWCNT dispersion in matrix. Light microscopy images also demonstrated that lPC/MWCNT composite had the smallest undispersed filler agglomerates than the other two corresponding PC/MWCNT composites with the same filler loading (0.25 wt%). In terms of rheological measurements, rheological percolation occurred at a lower filler content for lPC/MWCNT than mPC/MWCNT and hPC/MWCNT composites. The chemo‐resistive properties of composites towards organic vapors were investigated by measuring relative resistance change of CPCs upon vapor immersion‐drying cycles. CPCs exhibited different sensing tendencies towards different organic vapors. lPC based CPCs exhibit higher relative resistance change as compared to mPC and hPC based CPCs because of their loosely overlapped conductive network, which are easily changed under polymer swelling. Besides, sample thickness is another factor that determined the vapor sensing performance of CPCs. Furthermore, relative resistance change of composites is found to be closely related with vapor concentration. This work presents a new thought in understanding filler dispersion in PC with different molecular weights, which has implication of turning conductive network structure and sensing performance of composites. A triblock amphiphilic polymer derived from the copolymerization of CO2 and epoxides containing a bipyridine rhenium complex in its backbone is shown to effectively catalyze the visible‐light‐driven reduction of CO2 to CO. This polymer provides uniformly spherical micelles in aqueous solution, where the metal catalyst is sequestered in the hydrophobic portion of the nanostructured micelle. CO2 to CO reduction occurs in an efficient visible‐light‐driven process in aqueous media with turnover numbers up to 110 (>99 % selectivity) in the absence of a photosensitizer, which is a 37‐fold enhancement over the corresponding molecular rhenium catalyst in organic solvent. In order to expand the application of biobased polycarbonate in optical components, a series of isosorbide polycarbonate (PICC)/rare earth ion complex fluorescent composites were prepared by using PICC as a macromolecular ligand and Eu3+ and Tb3+ as rare earth luminescence centers. The coordination system between rare earth ions and PICC was investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, DSC and TGA. On adjusting the ratio of Eu3+ and Tb3+, a PICC/rare earth ion composite with adjustable fluorescence color was obtained. Also, the thermal, mechanical and optical properties of a series of PICC/rare earth ion fluorescent films with different ratios were tested. The objective of the study is preparation of shape memory blend of polycarbonate (PC) and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). Polycarbonate is blended with three types of TPUs and subsequently mechanical, thermal, morphological, and shape memory properties of the PC/TPU blends are studied. When TPU content in the blend is higher than 40% (by weight), the glass transition temperature related to PC is not shown in the differential scanning calorimetry thermogram, indicating loss of PC properties. The 60/40 optimized blend of PC/TPUs exhibits maximum increment of about 1100% in elongation and 43% decrement in tensile strength. The shape recovery of the optimized blend obtained by addition of 40% (by weight) of TPUs in PC polymer is found to be 65% and shape fixity is 97%. This study presents the development of advanced antistatic and solvent resistant polycarbonate blends by incorporating antistatic agents (AAs) into bisphenol A‐type polycarbonate (PBPA) and polycarbonate‐polysiloxane copolymer (P‐Si). A straightforward one‐step melt blending was employed to fabricate PBPA/P‐Si/AA blends. Comprehensive characterization methods, including Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), optical microscope, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and both tensile and impact tests were deployed to study the structure, morphology, thermal, and mechanical behaviors of the synthesized blends. The results demonstrated effective mixing of PBPA and P‐Si. The Tg of PBPA/P‐Si/AA blends is decreased relative to PBPA, because the chain flexibility of the blends will be increased after adding AA, which is reflected in the impact strength and elongation at break of PBPA/P‐Si/AA blends. On the other hand, the thermal stability of PBPA/P‐Si/AA is reduced relative to PBPA. The most significant result is that the resistance of the blends to ethyl acetate is enhanced. This is because the addition of P‐Si to the matrix introduces a high bonding energy SiO bond, which makes PHBPA/P‐Si less prone to detachment and cracking and swelling when exposed to ethyl acetate. While improving the solvent resistance, the blends also have excellent antistatic property, only the concentration of AA is increased to 6 wt.%, and the surface resistance of PBPA/P‐Si/AA is reduced from 106 GΩ to only 1 GΩ. This dramatic decrease is a result of the widespread distribution of the positive charge of the ammonium ion throughout the material, promoting the formation of a continuous conductive network within the matrix and thereby enhancing conductivity. Environmental damage caused by waste plastics and downstream chemical breakdown products is a modern crisis. Endocrine‐disrupting bisphenol A (BPA), found in breakdown products of poly(bisphenol A carbonate) (PC), is an especially pernicious example that interferes with the reproduction and development of a wide range of organisms, including humans. Herein we report a single‐stage thiocracking method to chemically upcycle polycarbonate using elemental sulfur, a waste product of fossil fuel refining. Importantly, this method disintegrates bisphenol A units into monoaryls, thus eliminating endocrine‐disrupting BPA from the material and from any potential downstream waste. Thiocracking of PC (10 wt%) with elemental sulfur (90 wt%) at 320 °C yields the highly crosslinked network SPC90. The composition, thermal, morphological, and mechanical properties of SPC90 were characterized by FT‐IR spectroscopy, TGA, DSC, elemental analysis, SEM/EDX, compressive strength tests, and flexural strength tests. The composite SPC90 (compressive strength = 12.8 MPa, flexural strength = 4.33 MPa) showed mechanical strengths exceeding those of commercial bricks and competitive with those of mineral cements. The approach discussed herein represents a method to chemically upcycle polycarbonate while deconstructing BPA units, and valorizing waste sulfur to yield structurally viable building materials that could replace less‐green legacy materials. This work describes the depolymerization of several polyester and polycarbonate plastic waste in value‐added compounds catalyzed by the air stable, cheap and commercially available manganese compounds Mn(OTf)2, Mn2(CO)10, MnBr(CO)5, and MeCpMn(CO)3 using boranes and silanes as the reducing agents with good to excellent yields. Commercial heterogeneous manganese catalyst, manganeses(II) ethyl/butyl phosphonate silica (Si‐Mn), has also proven to be very efficient in the reductive depolymerization of a variety of polyesters and the polycarbonate PC.BPA. The use of Mn(OTf)2, Mn2(CO)10 and Si‐Mn in consecutive depolymerization of polyesters is also investigated, showing that these catalysts remain their excellent activity after several reactions. When exposed to the open air, the wood can change its physical and structural properties due to the combined effect of ultraviolet radiation, oxygen, humidity, atmospheric pollutants, and microorganisms. The demand for durable coatings with application to wooden structures or pieces is always a relevant topic. Waterborne polyurethane (WPU) dispersions as wood protective coatings might be attractive, especially outdoors. In this work, WPU dispersions have been synthesized from isophorone diisocyanate and different ratios of polypropylene glycol and polycarbonate (PC) diol. Synthesized polyurethanes were applied to wood surfaces as a coating. The results showed that the partial and total replacement of polypropylene glycol (PPG) by PC influences the mechanical, thermal, and structural properties of the films obtained from aqueous polyurethane dispersions. In addition, a simple and promising methodology based on Fourier‐transform infrared (FTIR) spectra was proposed to determine the polycarbonate content in poly(carbonate‐ether‐urethane). The synthesized coatings reduced water absorption by the wood, especially the one with a 25:75 polycarbonate to PPG ratio. A CO2‐based thermoplastic elastomer, poly(propylene carbonate)‐multiblock‐polyamide6 (PPC‐mb‐PA6) copolymer, was constructed through coupling amorphous/soft PPC blocks with crystalline/hard PA6 blocks. The PPC‐mb‐PA6 copolymers with different block length pairs were designed and synthesized, and then fully characterized by structural, thermal, and mechanical analysis. The proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H‐NMR), diffusion ordered spectroscopy (DOSY), heteronuclear multiple‐bond correlation (HMBC) and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) results confirm that the multiblock sequence structure of PPC‐mb‐PA6. The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) tests show that all PPC‐mb‐PA6s possess melting points around 179–206°C. The thermal and mechanical analysis indicates improved service temperatures (T5% up to 270°C) and tensile strength ranging from 15.8 to 39.6 MPa with higher PA6 content. The dynamic mechanical analysis demonstrates excellent shape memory effect of PPC‐mb‐PA6 with thermal stimuli responsiveness derived from the micro phase separation between soft PPC and hard PA6 domains. And the characteristic strain fixity parameter (Rf) and deformation recovery rate (Rr) are 98% and 100%, respectively, which are comparable with other excellent shape memory polymers. Physical aging refers to relaxation of the polymer glassy state toward the amorphous state and this phenomenon affects their physical‐mechanical properties. This work investigates the effect of physical aging on polymer scratch behavior and visibility. It was shown that mechanical properties were significantly modified over the aging time, especially the yield stress, in turn affecting polymer scratch behavior. As a matter of fact, the critical load for the onset of scratch visibility was shown to increase with the aging, thus improving sensitivity of polymer to scratches. Such behavior was strictly related to the yield stress increase with the aging time. The usefulness of the present work is highlighted, and some future perspectives are discussed. This study aimed to optimize the compatibility and performance of PLA/PC blends by investigating the effects of Cloisite 20A nanoclay (NC) and Joncryl chain extender (CE). PLA/PC blends with varying NC and CE loadings were prepared, and the optimal formulation was identified. The optimal NC and CE content were then used to produce PLA/PC blends with varying PC ratios. The test specimens were produced by mixing the mixture in a twin‐screw micro compounder and subsequent injection molding into dog bone specimens to investigate the thermal, mechanical, and morphological properties of the blends. Scanning electron microscopy and dynamic mechanical analysis confirmed the immiscibility of the unmodified blend, but significant improvements in blend morphology were observed with high NC/CE ratios. The presence of NC/CE resulted in reduced droplet size of dispersed PC phase and a new intermediate glass transition temperature (Tg) in DMA, suggesting partial miscibility. The highest thermal stability improvement was achieved with 5 wt% NC alone or a combination of 5 wt% NC and 1 wt% CE. Composites containing NC/CE showed the most significant improvements in composite properties, demonstrating their effectiveness as compatibilizers and improved compatibility in PLA/PC blends.
