Incorporating reprocessing, recycling, and sustainable processes and materials is essential for a circular economy. Reprocessing and recycling are related since both help minimize wastage and produce a sustainable regenerative economy. However, polymers might undergo degradation depending on the recycling process, reducing their lifespan. In this study, polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT) undergoes repetitive reprocessing under varied temperatures, times, and shear rates to investigate the evolution of mechanical, chemical, and thermal properties. Furthermore, foaming experiments are conducted using supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) on reprocessed samples to examine changes in the properties and morphology of the foam. The significance of reprocessing PBAT is divided into environmental, temperature, and processing effects. Environmental conditions impact the results where no oxidation effects are noticed in the 2‐hour test, while 7 days of humidity exposure lead to a tenfold reduction in polymer viscosity. Different processing techniques reduce the molecular weight of PBAT and alter its polydispersity. Specifically, the number average molecular weight (Mn) decreases from an initial 53 to 37 kDa after processes like extrusion or mixing. However, elongation at break and ultimate strength of PBAT remain unchanged after high‐shear extrusion processing. Smart windows have the potential to respond dynamically and passively to external stimuli, controlling the amount of light passing through the window. When a smart window switches from a clear to a translucent state, energy flow through the window is partially attenuated, allowing a room to cool down passively, thereby reducing the energy and fossil fuel consumption for air conditioning. The smart window demonstrated here consists of a thermoresponsive liquid consisting of Tergitol 15‐S‐7, which can dynamically and passively switch the window's transmittance when a temperature of 39 °C is reached. It is also demonstrated how the transition temperature can be lowered by adding salts. Outdoor experiments in realistic environments show that the temperature of a model house built with a thermo‐responsive window can achieve an indoor temperature of 7 °C less than a control house with an ordinary window. Background Purpose Methods Results Conclusions Phenomenological relative biological effectiveness (RBE) models for proton therapy, based on the dose‐averaged linear energy transfer (LET), have been developed to address the apparent RBE increase towards the end of the proton range. The results of these phenomenological models substantially differ due to varying empirical assumptions and fitting functions. In contrast, more theory‐based approaches are used in carbon ion radiotherapy, such as the microdosimetric kinetic model (MKM). However, implementing microdosimetry‐based models in LET‐based proton therapy treatment planning systems poses challenges.This work presents a LET‐based version of the MKM that is practical for clinical use in proton radiotherapy.At first, we derived an approximation of the Mayo Clinic Florida (MCF) MKM for relatively‐sparsely ionizing radiation such as protons. The mathematical formalism of the proposed model is equivalent to the original MKM, but it maintains some key features of the MCF MKM, such as the determination of model parameters from measurable cell characteristics. Subsequently, we carried out Monte Carlo calculations with PHITS in different simulated scenarios to establish a heuristic correlation between microdosimetric quantities and the dose averaged LET of protons.A simple allometric function was found able to describe the relationship between the dose‐averaged LET of protons and the dose‐mean lineal energy, which includes the contributions of secondary particles. The LET‐based MKM was used to model the in vitro clonogenic survival RBE of five human and rodent cell lines (A549, AG01522, CHO, T98G, and U87) exposed to pristine and spread‐out Bragg peak (SOBP) proton beams. The results of the LET‐based MKM agree well with the biological data in a comparable or better way with respect to the other models included in the study. A sensitivity analysis on the model results was also performed.The LET‐based MKM integrates the predictive theoretical framework of the MCF MKM with a straightforward mathematical description of the RBE based on the dose‐averaged LET, a physical quantity readily available in modern treatment planning systems for proton therapy. The interest in microdosimetry is growing thanks to the advancement in microdosimetric technologies, improving detector performance and reliability. Herein, the fabrication and characterization of a novel diamond‐based microdosimeter are proposed. The microdosimeter consists of an array of single‐crystal diamond Schottky diodes about 1.5 μm thick connected in parallel. The detector prototypes are characterized using the ion beam‐induced charge technique, employing a 6 MeV carbon ions microbeam. Despite a good overall response, the first prototypes are affected by the "bridge effect": a charge collection beneath the metallic bridges connecting the sensitive volumes (SVs), which alters the energy deposition spectrum. To mitigate the bridge effect, different technological solutions are explored: the selective growth of intrinsic diamond layers and the use of an insulating material such as photoresist. These second prototypes reveal a good SV spatial definition without any charge collection from the bridges and a good response homogeneity within the SVs ranging between 3% and 5% full‐width‐half‐maximum among the different prototypes. While the cell‐like thickness and lateral dimensions of SVs make the diamond microdosimeter array ideal for radiobiological applications, its array configuration can make it highly versatile to perform under different fluence rate conditions in particle therapy. Given global water scarcity and the quest for sustainable energy, there's a pressing need for integrated approaches addressing water‐energy interdependence worldwide. A practical approach for this challenge involves the implementation of fog water collectors. Herein, a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) multifunctional device capable of harvesting water and electricity from wind is developed and tested, collecting up to 365 mg cm−2 h−1 of fog water. Due to the piezoelectric nature of electrospun PVDF, these yarns and meshes not only serve as piezoelectric sensors, enabling the detection of incoming fog flow and determination of its speed and, bust also harvest electricity by charging a capacitor, making it a green and renewable power source. In this study, promising insights are offered into developing efficient fog water collection methods and utilizing piezoelectric fiber‐based yarns and meshes for multifunctional applications in sustainable water management, energy harvesting, and sensing in a single device. The Slate Islands (Ontario) is one of Canada's larger impact structures at 32 km in diameter and has been linked to the Ordovician meteorite event (OME). We report zircon U–Pb dates from two suevite and two syenite samples collected from the Slate Islands. Plagioclase 40Ar/39Ar dates were also obtained from one of the samples. The plagioclase and most zircon dates record pre‐impact ages with links to known tectonic events, including those associated with the assembly of the Superior Craton at approximately 2700 Ma. However, Neoarchean zircon grains appear to be reset at 456.1 ± 6.9 Ma (±2σ) based on the lower intercept of discordia for all dated samples. The date overlaps its previously accepted age of 450 Ma and would be 2–19 million years following the parent asteroid breakup if related to the OME. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the present work, we demonstrate that zero‐shear viscosity is a sensitive rheological function to detect phase inversion in immiscible binary polymer blends characterized by a viscosity ratio larger than one. The phase inversion of poly(propylene) (PP)/low‐density poly(ethylene) (LDPE) and poly(styrene) (PS)/LDPE, at various compositions, was assessed via our novel approach. For both blends, three distinctive regions could be determined through zero‐shear viscosity measurements; the LDPE matrix, the co‐continuous phase, and the PS or PP matrix. For PP/LDPE blends, the co‐continuous structure was between 50 and 75 wt.% PP, and for PS/LDPE blends the co‐continuous structure was between 45 and 75 wt.% PS, in agreement with scanning electron microscopy analysis, empirical model predictions, and literature data. This article discusses BCL11B-related dystonia, a genetic disorder that causes childhood-onset generalized dystonia and intellectual disability. The BCL11B gene is involved in the development of various systems in the body. Mutations in this gene have been linked to a syndrome characterized by intellectual disability, facial abnormalities, and T cell abnormalities. Recent case reports suggest that a complex movement disorder, including spasticity and dystonia, can also be part of this syndrome. The article presents a case study of a young girl with BCL11B-related dystonia, providing information about her symptoms, genetic testing, and treatment. The study suggests that BCL11B should be considered in the diagnosis of genetic causes of generalized dystonia with childhood onset and intellectual disability. The bond between humans and dogs is precious and has been treasured since ancient times. Dog ownership is linked to numerous health benefits, such as increased physical activity and social functioning and decreased depression and cardiovascular events. However, dogs can transmit zoonotic diseases to humans, many of which present with cutaneous findings. This review summarizes the dermatologic manifestations, transmission routes, diagnosis, and treatment of zoonotic diseases transmitted by dogs, including vector‐borne, bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections. This review emphasizes the significance of clinicians obtaining a comprehensive exposure history when patients exhibit a rash of unknown origin. Such an approach can provide valuable epidemiological clues related to diagnosing a zoonotic disease transmitted by a pet dog. Furthermore, identifying the dog as an infection source and subsequent veterinary treatment can help prevent recurrent infections in dermatologic patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This work investigates the feasibility of using a decanter centrifuge to separate solid particles coated with a high melting fat from a liquid oil. The process involves feeding cold silica particles into a melt, upon which the hardstock fat crystallizes, and the particles are subsequently separated using a decanter centrifuge. Being the first attempt for such a design, only the separation step is studied, and a model system is used. It comprised canola oil (CO), fully hydrogenated rapeseed oil a priori crystallized on silica gel particles. Different particle sizes and accelerations of gravity were studied. To measure the success of this separation process, the data from light microscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry of the feed, oleins, and stearins were used. The findings show that the separation of the fatty particles used in this work, and liquid oil in decanter centrifuges is feasible while future research should focus on the crystallization part of the process. The model developed to describe the oil‐holding capacity of the cake focuses on the capillary liquid entrapped in the spaces between the particles and sufficiently represents the experimental findings which show that separation efficiencies increase with increasing centrifugal acceleration. Practical Applications: This work introduces an alternative fat fractionation process by separating a model system of CO, FHRO, and solid entrainers through a decanter centrifuge. The results can be potentially used for the development of a fully continuous dry fractionation process, which can achieve in one step higher SE than the conventional ones and can be tripalmitate‐selective. Objectives: To examine the postnatal course of ophthalmic artery (OA) Doppler in women with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) and to evaluate the correlation between OA Doppler parameters and poor postnatal blood pressure control and renal dysfunction at 2–3 weeks and 6–9 weeks postnatally. Methods: This was a prospective cohort study of women with a singleton pregnancy and HDP seen at a tertiary pregnancy hypertension clinic between 2019 and 2021. Three visits were included: Visit 1, the last visit to the antenatal hypertension clinic within 2 weeks prior to delivery; Visit 2, at 2–3 weeks postnatally; and Visit 3, at 6–9 weeks postnatally. At each visit, maternal demographic characteristics, medical history, blood pressure and OA Doppler were obtained. In addition, fetal growth and fetal Dopplers were examined antenatally and, at 6–9 weeks postnatally, estimated glomerular filtration rate and proteinuria were quantified. Study participants were divided into four hypertension groups, according to longitudinal changes in blood pressure at the three visits. For the postnatal visits, hypertension was defined as systolic blood pressure (SBP) ≥ 140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure (DBP) ≥ 90 mmHg in the absence of antihypertensive medication, and SBP ≥ 130 mmHg and/or DBP ≥ 80 mmHg whilst taking antihypertensives. Group 1 was hypertensive at all three visits; Group 2 was hypertensive at Visits 1 and 2 but normotensive at Visit 3; Group 3 was hypertensive at Visits 1 and 3 but normotensive at Visit 2; and Group 4 was hypertensive at Visit 1 but normotensive at Visits 2 and 3. The longitudinal changes in mean arterial pressure (MAP), peak systolic velocity (PSV) 1, PSV2 and the ratio of PSV2/PSV1 over the three timepoints were examined by a repeated‐measures, multilevel, linear mixed‐effects analysis, controlling for maternal age, weight at presentation and use of antihypertensive medication. In addition, we examined the longitudinal change in OA Doppler parameters in women with different degrees of postnatal blood pressure control and in those with and those without renal dysfunction at 6–9 weeks postnatally. Results: A total of 108 women were recruited to the study, of whom 86 had new‐onset hypertension and 22 had chronic hypertension. When controlling for maternal age, weight at presentation and use of antihypertensive medication, a significant decline in log10 MAP (P < 0.001), log10 PSV1 (P < 0.001) and log10 PSV2 (P = 0.01) was seen between Visits 1 and 3. Log10 PSVR did not change with time. When assessing OA Doppler against hypertension group, log10 PSV1 and log10 PSV2 did not differ between the hypertension groups, whilst Group 4 had a lower log10 PSVR compared with Group 1 (P < 0.01), Group 2 (P = 0.03) and Group 3 (P < 0.01). At 6–9 weeks postnatally, log10 PSVR was lower in those without compared to those with renal dysfunction (−0.021, P = 0.01), whilst log10 MAP, log10 PSV1 and log10 PSV2 values did not differ. Log10 PSVR did not change with time and remained at −0.12 (95% CI, −0.13 to −0.11) across the three visits. Conclusions: In women with HDP, the OA‐PSVR was significantly higher in those with labile or persistently raised blood pressure postnatally compared to women whose blood pressure normalized. Myrtle rust, caused by Austropuccinia psidii, has been associated with more than 480 plant species belonging to the family Myrtaceae. Intraspecific variability in pathogenicity has been reported among isolates of A. psidii from different hosts. However, there are few studies that have comparatively quantified the disease in guava (Psidium guajava) and rose apple (Syzygium jambos). The objective of this work was to quantify the pathogenic variability of A. psidii isolates collected from guava and rose apple in Brazil and to investigate the mechanisms of infection and colonization of the pathogen at the cellular level. The monocyclic components of the rust disease were evaluated on young leaves of rose apple and guava plants cross‐inoculated with isolates from rose apple and guava. Pathogenic specialization of both A. psidii isolates for their respective hosts was confirmed in this work. The guava A. psidii isolate was able to infect and colonize rose apple leaf tissues but no sporulation occurred. Similarly, the rose apple A. psidii isolate infected guava plants but did not sporulate. Confocal laser scanning microscopy revealed that lobed haustoria were present within rose apple leaves at 2 days post‐inoculation (dpi) with both isolates, which resulted in intense mesophyll colonization for both interactions at 9 dpi. Background: Anticoagulation of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and cancer is challenging because of their high risk for stroke and bleeding. Little is known of the variations of oral anticoagulant (OAC) prescribing in patients with AF with and without cancer. Methods: Patients with first‐time AF during 2009–2019 from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink were included. Cancer diagnosis was defined as a history of breast, prostate, colorectal, lung, or hematological cancer. Competing‐risk analysis was used to assess the risk of OAC prescribing in patients with AF and cancer adjusted for clinical and sociodemographic factors. Results: Of 177,065 patients with AF, 11.7% had cancer. Compared to patients without cancer, patients with cancer were less likely to receive OAC: prostate cancer (subhazard ratio [SHR], 0.95; 95% CI, 0.91–0.99), breast cancer (SHR, 0.93; 95% CI, 0.89–0.98), colorectal cancer (SHR, 0.93; 95% CI, 0.88–0.99), hematological cancer (SHR, 0.70; 95% CI, 0.65–0.75), and lung cancer (SHR, 0.44; 95% CI, 0.38–0.50). The cumulative incidence function (CIF) of OAC prescribing was lowest for patients with lung cancer and hematological cancer compared with patients without cancer. The difference between the CIF of OAC prescribing in patients with and without cancer becomes narrower in the most deprived areas. Elderly patients (aged ≥85 years) overall had the lowest CIF of OAC prescribing regardless of cancer status. Conclusions: In patients with AF, underprescribing of OAC is independently associated with certain cancer types. Patients with hematological and lung cancer are the least likely to receive anticoagulation therapy compared with patients without cancer. Underprescribing of OAC in cancer is linked to old age. Further studies of patients with AF and cancer are warranted to assess the net clinical benefit of anticoagulation in certain cancer types. There is an independent association between cancer and underprescribing of oral anticoagulants (OACs) in patients with atrial fibrillation, which may be driven by the risk of bleeding in certain types of cancer. Underprescribing of OACs was more common in patients with a history of lung cancer and hematological malignancies. Introduction: Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is a common clinical condition in the general population. A subgroup of patients with MVP may experience ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death ("arrhythmic mitral valve prolapse" [AMVP]) but how to stratify arrhythmic risk is still unclear. Our meta‐analysis aims to identify predictive factors for arrhythmic risk in patients with MVP. Methods: We systematically searched Medline, Cochrane, Journals@Ovid, Scopus electronic databases for studies published up to December 28, 2022 and comparing AMVP and nonarrhythmic mitral valve prolapse (NAMVP) for what concerns history, electrocardiographic, echocardiographic and cardiac magnetic resonance features. The effect size was estimated using a random‐effect model as odds ratio (OR) and mean difference (MD). Results: A total of 10 studies enrolling 1715 patients were included. Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) (OR: 16.67; p =.005), T‐wave inversion (TWI) (OR: 2.63; p <.0001), bileaflet MVP (OR: 1.92; p <.0001) and mitral anulus disjunction (MAD) (OR: 2.60; p <.0001) were more represented among patients with AMVP than in NAMVP. Patients with AMVP were shown to have longer anterior mitral leaflet (AML) (MD: 2.63 mm; p <.0001), posterior mitral leaflet (MD: 2.96 mm; p <.0001), thicker AML (MD: 0.49 mm; p <.0001), longer MAD length (MD: 1.24 mm; p <.0001) and higher amount of LGE (MD: 1.41%; p <.0001) than NAMVP. AMVP showed increased mechanical dispersion (MD: 8.04 ms; 95% confidence interval: 5.13–10.96; p <.0001) compared with NAMVP. Conclusions: Our meta‐analysis proved that LGE, TWI, bileaflet MVP, and MAD are predictive factors for arrhythmic risk in MVP patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The efficiency gap between perovskite (PVSK) solar sub‐modules (size ≥200 cm2) and lab scale cells (size ˂1 cm2) is up to 36%. Moreover, the few attempts present in the literature used lab‐scale techniques in a glove‐box environment, reducing its compatibility for further product industrialization. Here, we report a PVSK sub‐module (total area 320 cm2, aperture area 201 cm2, 93% geometrical fill factor [GFF]) fabricated in ambient air by hybrid meniscus coating techniques assisted by air and green antisolvent quenching method. To suppress nonradiative recombination losses, improve carrier extraction and control the PVSK growth on such a large surface, we adopted phenethylammonium iodide (PEAI) passivation and PVSK solvent addiction strategies. The high homogeneous and reproducible layers guarantee an efficiency of 16.13% (7% losses with respect to the small area cell and zero losses with respect to the mini‐modules) and a stability of more than 3000 h according to International Summit on Organic PV Stability, dark storage/shelf life in ambient (ISOS‐D‐1). The sustainability of used methods and materials is demonstrated by the life cycle assessment. The scale‐up operation allows for strong impact mitigation in all the environmental categories and more efficient consumption of the resources. However, the original tissue characteristics must be maintained in culture, a fact that is often assumed, but seldom assessed. We aimed to follow the retention of the original tissue identities of cleft lip‐derived skin and mucosa keratinocytes in vitro.Cleft lip‐derived keratinocytes were isolated from discarded tissue along the cleft margins during cheiloplasty. Cell identities were assessed by immunohistochemistry and quantitative real‐time PCR for tissue‐specific markers and compared with native lip tissue. Moreover, keratinocytes were regularly analyzed for the retention of the original tissue characteristics by the aforementioned methods as well as by differentiation assays.The various anatomical zones of the human lip could be distinguished using a panel of differentiation and functional‐based markers. Using these markers, retention of the original tissue identities could be followed and confirmed in the corresponding primary keratinocytes in culture.Our findings promote patient‐derived cells retaining their original identities as astonishing and clinically relevant in vitro tools. Background: Helicobacter species (spp.) have been detected in human bile and hepatobiliary tissue Helicobacter spp. promote gallstone formation and hepatobiliary tumors in laboratory studies, though it remains unclear whether Helicobacter spp. contribute to these cancers in humans. We used a multiplex panel to assess whether seropositivity to Helicobacter (H.) hepaticus or H. bilis proteins was associated with the development of hepatobiliary cancers in the Finnish Alpha‐Tocopherol, Beta‐Carotene Cancer Prevention (ATBC) Study, and US‐based Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian Cancer Screening Trial (PLCO). Methods: We included 62 biliary and 121 liver cancers, and 190 age‐matched controls from ATBC and 74 biliary and 105 liver cancers, and 364 age‐ and sex‐matched controls from PLCO. Seropositivity to 14 H. hepaticus and H. bilis antigens was measured using a multiplex assay. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were adjusted for major hepatobiliary cancer risk factors and Helicobacter pylori serostatus. Results: Seropositivity to the H. bilis antigen, P167D, was associated with more than a twofold higher risk of liver cancer (OR: 2.38; 95% CI: 1.06, 5.36) and seropositivity to the H. hepaticus antigens HH0407 or HH1201, or H. bilis antigen, HRAG 01470 were associated with higher risk of biliary cancer (OR: 5.01; 95% CI: 1.53, 16.40; OR: 2.40; 95% CI: 1.00, 5.76; OR: 3.27; 95% CI: 1.14, 9.34, respectively) within PLCO. No associations for any of the H. hepaticus or H. bilis antigens were noted for liver or biliary cancers within ATBC. With the growing demand of consumers for high‐quality aquatic products, controlling the harvest quality of farmed fish is becoming increasingly important in aquaculture industry. The texture is a sensory property that covers a group of attributes, such as firmness, tenderness, chewiness, adhesiveness, resilience, etc., which greatly determine consumers' perception and satisfaction for flesh products. Regarding texture quality, extensive research has been conducted in recent decades based on its related theories, influencing factors, and intervention strategies. However, the information available is largely scattered and disjointed. Essentially, flesh texture is mainly determined by the collective contribution of three major muscle components: muscle fibres, intramuscular connective tissue, and intramuscular fat. Therefore, changing these components in living animals through nutritional and management factors has the potential to modulate texture quality. Here, we briefly introduced the features and development of the three muscle components mentioned above, particularly their potential contributions to texture quality of fish flesh. Exciting promises to manipulate flesh texture through dietary intervention, feed restriction, and exercise training were also discussed. To ensure their applications in large‐scale aquaculture facilities, specific considerations of these regimens should be incorporated in experimental design parameters, including the species and age of fish, research system, experiment duration, and exercise intensity. Background: Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is unpredictable and can severely impair patients' quality of life. Patients with CSU need a convenient, user‐friendly platform to complete patient‐reported outcome measures (PROMs) on their mobile devices. CRUSE®, the Chronic Urticaria Self Evaluation app, aims to address this unmet need. Methods: CRUSE® was developed by an international steering committee of urticaria specialists. Priorities for the app based on recent findings in CSU were defined to allow patients to track and record their symptoms and medication use over time and send photographs. The CRUSE® app collects patient data such as age, sex, disease onset, triggers, medication, and CSU characteristics that can be sent securely to physicians, providing real‐time insights. Additionally, CRUSE® contains PROMs to assess disease activity and control, which are individualised to patient profiles and clinical manifestations. Results: CRUSE® was launched in Germany in March 2022 and is now available for free in 17 countries. It is adapted to the local language and displays a country‐specific list of available urticaria medications. English and Ukrainian versions are available worldwide. From July 2022 to June 2023, 25,710 observations were documented by 2540 users; 72.7% were females, with a mean age of 39.6 years. At baseline, 93.7% and 51.3% of users had wheals and angioedema, respectively. Second‐generation antihistamines were used in 74.0% of days. Conclusions: The initial data from CRUSE® show the wide use and utility of effectively tracking patients' disease activity and control, paving the way for personalised CSU management. Background: Managing SARS‐CoV‐2 infection in frail and immunosuppressed patients still represents an open challenge, but, starting from the phase 3 PROVENT study, prophylaxis with tixagevimab‐cilgavimab has improved the approach in this category of patients, guaranteeing a better outcome and inferior mortality. Real‐life data in a heterogeneous cohort are few. Methods: The aim of this study is to evaluate the benefit of prophylaxis with tixagevimab‐cilgavimab in a cohort of 202 patients affected by different hematological diseases (lymphoproliferative, myeloproliferative, autoimmune, patients recently receiving a bone marrow transplant), active (with ongoing treatment), or in watch‐and‐wait strategy, followed in our center, during a median follow‐up of 249 (45‐325) days. Results: An incidence of 44 breakthrough infections (21.8%) is reported, with no treatment‐related adverse effects. Age ≥70 years, ongoing treatment (above all with monoclonal antibodies), baseline lymphoproliferative disorders, and prior virus exposure are identified as risk factors related to subsequent infection (p < 0.05). Moreover, the incidence is higher in low/nonresponse to prior vaccination (p =.002). Patients treated with tixagevimab‐cilgavimab had a mild course of the infection and a reduction of the duration compared with preprophylaxis infection (11 vs. 15 days, p <.001). The concurrent treatment with anti‐CD20 monoclonal antibodies and B–non‐Hodgkin lymphoma still confers a higher duration of infection despite prophylaxis. No deaths attributable to the infection occurred. Conclusion: Prophylaxis treatment seems to be a valid and safe strategy, although not preventing breakthrough infection, but the severe complications associated with the infection and the possible delays in administering lifesaving therapies from long positivity. The use of tixagevimab‐cilgavimab improved the management of immunocompromised patients with a high risk of severe SARS‐CoV‐2 disease. In a real‐world setting, it confirmed its role not only in preventing the occurrence of breakthrough infection, but also, above all, avoiding the severe complications associated and reducing the total days of positivity. Although illegal, sexual harassment is endemic in US schools, with students perceiving that school officials ignore complaints of harassment. Research findings have linked school climate tolerant of sexual harassment to peer sexual harassment (PSH) and school outcomes, yet there is a need to better understand these relationships. This cross‐sectional study examined whether there was an indirect effect of school climate tolerant of sexual harassment on disengagement from school, individually and serially, through experiences of PSH victimization and feeling safe at school in a sample of 171 predominantly Black and White girls (14–19 years old) attending high school in the wider Memphis, Tennessee area. The findings supported that a climate tolerant of sexual harassment was indirectly related to school disengagement through PSH and feeling less safe. These findings add to the literature by demonstrating that a climate tolerant of sexual harassment, PSH victimization, and perceptions about personal safety are associated with harm to students' academic outcomes in the form of school and academic disengagement. Further, the current findings suggest that a national agenda for school safety needs to consider school climate tolerant of sexual harassment in order to be effective in responding to sexual harassment and supporting student engagement. Objective: Approximately 25% of individuals with anorexia nervosa (AN) experience a chronic form of the disorder, referred to as severe and enduring anorexia nervosa (SE‐AN). Although the classification of SE‐AN remains preliminary, there have been increasing calls for a harm reduction‐based, collaborative treatment model for these patients. To provide such care for patients with SE‐AN, it is critical to listen to and learn from their lived experiences. Method: Patients (N = 17) admitted to an inpatient eating disorders program who met initial criteria for SE‐AN completed semi‐structured interviews about the course of their illness and prior treatment episodes. Interviews were audio recorded and transcribed. Data were analyzed using an inductive, reflexive approach to thematic analysis that examined common themes within and across interviews. Results: Three themes were identified focused on (1) the all‐encompassing nature of SE‐AN, (2) treatment experiences, and (3) living with chronic illness. Within these themes, there were subthemes. Overall, individuals noted clear insight about their condition, both negative and positive experiences with previous treatment, and hope for better quality of life despite their illness. Discussion: Individuals with SE‐AN describe their illness as a chronic condition and hope for a harm reduction‐based treatment. Future work, including the lived experiences of individuals with SE‐AN, is important to build our understanding of the classification and clinical characteristics of SE‐AN and to develop treatment approaches that may best serve these individuals. Public Significance: Many people with anorexia nervosa do not achieve a full recovery despite repeated treatment episodes throughout their lifespan. Understanding the lived experiences of individuals with SE‐AN may help to inform future treatment development efforts that could improve eating disorder and quality of life outcomes for these patients. Most of the Italian infrastructures have been built since the mid‐twentieth century. Prestressed concrete (PC) has been widely used, especially for bridges and viaducts. These structures have proved effective over time, but their performance could be affected by degradation phenomena (i.e., corrosion of the tendons and residual prestressing) or construction defects (i.e., grouting of the ducts), which need to be accurately modeled. This paper focuses on the flexural response of two reduced‐scale, posttensioned, PC bridge girders, prestressed with two different jacking forces and tested under four‐point bending configuration. Four multidimensional numerical models were developed to simulate the experimental behaviors of the selected specimens, using two alternative computational strategies, namely, the finite element method (FEM) and applied element method (AEM). Three FEM modeling were considered, ranging from one‐dimensional lumped‐plasticity models to two‐dimensional and three‐dimensional (3D) spread‐plasticity models. Besides, 3D AEM models were developed into another software package. The accuracy and the computational costs of the two numerical strategies are discussed in this paper. Also, the main features of each numerical modeling technique are addressed, including comparisons between numerical and experimental global response data as well as the statistical characterization of the model error. On 29 September 2022 the Juno spacecraft flew within 354 km of Europa's surface while several instruments probed the moon's surroundings. During the close flyby, radio occultations were performed by collecting single‐frequency Doppler measurements. These investigations are essential to the study of Europa's ionosphere and represent the first repeat sampling of any set of conditions since the Galileo era. Ingress measurements resulted in a marginal detection with a peak ionospheric density of 4,000 ± 3,700 cm−3 (3σ) at 22 km altitude. A more significant detection emerged on egress, with a peak density of 6,000 ± 3,000 cm−3 (3σ) at 320 km altitude. Comparison with Galileo measurements reveals a consistent picture of Europa's ionosphere, and confirms its dependence on illumination conditions and position within Jupiter's magnetosphere. However, the overall lower densities measured by Juno suggest a dependence on time of observation, with implications for the structure of the neutral atmosphere. The Playground Shade Index (PSI) is introduced as a design metric for assessing the shade and solar ultraviolet (UV) protection provided by eight different cloth weave shade structures currently utilized in public playgrounds across a regional city located in southern Queensland, Australia. The PSI, expressing the ratio of available ambient solar UV exposure relative to the UV exposure received by a shaded 184 m2 playground surface over a whole day in midsummer and midwinter, is used to determine the best design and aspect of all eight existing structures. Unlike subjective shade audits that may only consider the type of shade structure, the number and characteristics of surrounding trees, and surface materials available at a given site, the PSI considers, in addition to previous factors, the available sky fraction and the direct solar UV contribution underneath the shade structure over a full day. By considering the in situ UV protection characteristics of the shade structure, the PSI has demonstrated its value as a robust design metric. Of the eight shade structure styles examined, this research presents the most likely structure best suited for UV protection over the two solar UV extremes in summer and winter, including optimal structure aspect. Background: Many women living with HIV (WLWH) experience pain. Alcohol use with the intent to treat pain could lead to hazardous drinking and difficulty in reducing drinking. Naltrexone acts on opioid receptors important for pain regulation and is an approved treatment for alcohol use disorder. In this secondary analysis of a randomized double‐blind placebo‐controlled naltrexone clinical trial, the goals were to (1) compare alcohol reduction between women who drank to treat pain and those who did not and (2) examine differences in alcohol reduction by both drinking intention and treatment arm. Methods: Women living with HIV (N = 194, mean age 48.3 years, 83% non‐Hispanic Black, 11% Hispanic) with hazardous drinking (>7 drinks/week) were randomized to receive daily treatment with naltrexone 50 mg or placebo for 4 months. Study visits occurred at baseline and 2, 4, and 7 months (posttreatment). The number of drinks/week was measured using the Timeline Follow Back. Use of alcohol to treat pain was self‐reported. Participants were categorized as using alcohol to treat pain or not and in the naltrexone or placebo group. Chi‐square, t‐test, MANOVA, and sequential mixed effects models were used to determine group differences in demographic factors, mean/drinks per week, and percent change in mean drinks/week at baseline and each follow‐up visit. Results: There was a consistent decrease in drinking throughout the study. There was not a significant difference in mean drinks/week at any point in the study between women who used alcohol to treat pain and those who did not. When considering treatment arm, at 2 months only those who did not use alcohol to treat pain in the naltrexone group had a significantly lower mean drinks/week than the other groups (p = 0.007); all groups had similar decreases in drinking from 4 months onward. Conclusion: In the naltrexone group, WLWH who drank to treat pain reduced their alcohol consumption more slowly than WLWH who did not drink to treat pain. Replication of these findings would suggest that alcohol treatment guidelines should address pain as a factor in drinking outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common chronic gastrointestinal disorder of unknown pathological origin that is associated with psychological distress and reduced health‐related quality of life (HRQoL). We investigated the effects of stress‐management for adults with IBS on typical symptoms, HRQoL and mental health. With predefined criteria (patients: adults with IBS; intervention: stress‐management; control: care as usual or waitlist; outcome: patient‐relevant; study‐type: controlled trials), we registered the study with PROSPERO (168030) and searched the main medical databases. Two researchers independently reviewed the publications and assessed the risk of bias using the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network checklist. We performed meta‐analysis with homogeneous trials of acceptable quality. After screening 6656 publications, ten suitable randomized trials of acceptable (n = 5) or low methodological quality (n = 5) involving 587 patients were identified. Our meta‐analysis showed no effect of stress‐management on IBS severity 1–2 months after the intervention (Hedges' g = −0.23, 95%‐CI = −0.84 to −0.38, I2 = 86.1%), and after 3–12 months (Hedges' g = −0.77, 95%‐CI = −1.77 to −0.23, I2 = 93.3%). One trial found a short‐term reduction of symptoms, and one trial found symptom relief in the long‐term (at 6 months). One of two studies that examined HRQoL found an improvement (after 2 months). One of two studies that examined depression and anxiety found a reduction of these symptoms (after 3 weeks). Stress‐management may be beneficial for patients with IBS regarding the short‐term reduction of bowel and mental health symptoms, whereas long‐term benefits are unclear. Despite the introduction of targeted (BRAFi/MEKi) and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has significantly reduced the recurrence rate and improved the overall survival (OS) of patients with Stage III and IV melanoma, only a percentage will benefit of durable disease control. The aim of this study was to examine whether the levels of circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) in plasma of advanced melanoma patients undergoing BRAFi/MEKi or ICIs vary according to the patients' survival outcomes (i.e. progression‐free survival (PFS) and OS) and disease progression. Plasma samples of Stage III‐IV melanoma patients were collected at baseline (treatment initiation) and thereafter every 3 months. Circulating BRAFV600E/K and NRASQ61R/K mutations were analysed through droplet digital PCR (ddPCR, Bio‐Rad) in a total of 177 plasma samples from 48 melanoma patients (19 Stage III, 29 Stage IV). Baseline ctDNA concentration was significantly associated with OS (HR = 1.003, 95% CI = 1.000–1.006, p = 0.043) and PFS (HR = 1.004, 95% CI = 1.000–1.007, p = 0.029) independent of clinical‐prognostic confounders. For each unit increase in the ∆ctDNA (concentration difference between the last follow‐up and baseline) there was a 24% increased risk of disease progression, irrespective of treatment type and stage at diagnosis (OR = 1.24, 95% CI = 1.03–1.49, p = 0.020, AUC = 0.93). Patients with reduction of ctDNA level from baseline to the last follow‐up had longer OS (HR = 0.14; 95% CI = 0.05–0.44, p = 0.001) and PFS (HR = 0.08; 95% CI = 0.03–0.27, p < 0.0001) compared to patients with increased ctDNA, including adjustment for confounding factors. Our findings suggest that variation of ctDNA over time during melanoma treatment reflects the clinical outcome and tumour response to therapy and might be helpful in clinical monitoring. Background: Kilo‐voltage cone‐beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a prevalent modality used for adaptive radiotherapy (ART) due to its compatibility with linear accelerators and ability to provide online imaging. However, the widely‐used Feldkamp‐Davis‐Kress (FDK) reconstruction algorithm has several limitations, including potential streak aliasing artifacts and elevated noise levels. Iterative reconstruction (IR) techniques, such as total variation (TV) minimization, dictionary‐based methods, and prior information‐based methods, have emerged as viable solutions to address these limitations and improve the quality and applicability of CBCT in ART. Purpose: One of the primary challenges in IR‐based techniques is finding the right balance between minimizing image noise and preserving image resolution. To overcome this challenge, we have developed a new reconstruction technique called high‐resolution CBCT (HRCBCT) that specifically focuses on improving image resolution while reducing noise levels. Methods: The HRCBCT reconstruction technique builds upon the conventional IR approach, incorporating three components: the data fidelity term, the resolution preservation term, and the regularization term. The data fidelity term ensures alignment between reconstructed values and measured projection data, while the resolution preservation term exploits the high resolution of the initial Feldkamp‐Davis‐Kress (FDK) algorithm. The regularization term mitigates noise during the IR process. To enhance convergence and resolution at each iterative stage, we applied Iterative Filtered Backprojection (IFBP) to the data fidelity minimization process. Results: We evaluated the performance of the proposed HRCBCT algorithm using data from two physical phantoms and one head and neck patient. The HRCBCT algorithm outperformed all four different algorithms; FDK, Iterative Filtered Back Projection (IFBP), Compressed Sensing based Iterative Reconstruction (CSIR), and Prior Image Constrained Compressed Sensing (PICCS) methods in terms of resolution and noise reduction for all data sets. Line profiles across three line pairs of resolution revealed that the HRCBCT algorithm delivered the highest distinguishable line pairs compared to the other algorithms. Similarly, the Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) measurements, obtained from the tungsten wire insert on the CatPhan 600 physical phantom, showed a significant improvement with HRCBCT over traditional algorithms. Conclusion: The proposed HRCBCT algorithm offers a promising solution for enhancing CBCT image quality in adaptive radiotherapy settings. By addressing the challenges inherent in traditional IR methods, the algorithm delivers high‐definition CBCT images with improved resolution and reduced noise throughout each iterative step. Skin cancer, the most prevalent cancer in Caucasians residing at low latitudes, can primarily be prevented by avoiding overexposure to sunlight. Serial cross‐sectional observations were conducted at an outdoor motorsport event held in Townsville, Queensland each July (Southern winter) to determine whether sun‐protection habits changed over time. Most (71.1%) of the 1337 attendees observed (97.6% lightly pigmented skin, 64.0% male) wore a hat (any style shading the face), while few (18.5%) wore three‐quarter or full‐length sleeves. While hat‐wearing rates (any style) were similar in 2009 (326, 72.6%) and 2013 (625, 70.4%), the use of sun‐protective styles (wide‐brimmed/bucket/legionnaires) decreased from 29.2% to 18.6% over the same period, primarily because the use of sun‐protective hats halved (from 28.7% to 14.0%) among females, while decreasing from 29.4% to 21.1% in males. Although relatively few individuals wore sun‐protective (three‐quarter‐length or full‐length) sleeves regardless of year (OR = 0.117, P < 0.0001), encouragingly, the use of sun‐protective sleeves more than doubled between 2009 (10.5%) and 2013 (22.5%). Interestingly females, albeit the minority, at this sporting event were less likely to wear a hat (OR = 0.473, P < 0.0001) than males. Copper indium disulfide nanoparticles continue attracting attention as absorber material in light harvesting devices. The preparation of thin films by deposition of this material from colloidal solution remains challenging. Typically, colloidal semiconductor nanoparticles are surrounded by long organic ligand molecules which are required to stabilize the particles during synthesis. A common way to obtain conductive thin films is the development of ligand exchange procedures that need to be applied prior to film deposition. However, in the case of copper indium disulfide nanoparticles, appropriate procedures are still missing. Therefore, an alternative approach is investigated herein. Colloidal copper indium disulfide nanoparticles are synthesized and deposited on substrates. Instead of applying a ligand exchange procedure, thermal removal of the ligands and sintering of the inorganic film are explored. Background: Survivors of primary malignant musculoskeletal tumors often face long‐term disability. Clinicians at present are unable to provide evidence‐based advice about returning to sports, which is important for active patients. Purposes: Identify patients returning to sports.Describe the sporting activities in which patients participate.Identify the outcome measures used to assess return to sport.Identify barriers preventing return to sports. Study design: Systematic review. Methods: A comprehensive search strategy was used to identify relevant studies combining the following concepts: (1) Bone/Soft tissue tumor, (2) Lower limb, (3) Surgical interventions, and (4) Sports. Studies were selected according to eligibility criteria with the consensus of three authors (MTB, FS, and CG). Results: Twenty‐two studies were selected, published between 1985 and 2020, including 1005 patients. Fifteen of the 22 studies had valid data on return to sports, with 705 participants, of which 412 (58.4%) returned to some form of sport such as swimming and cycling, at a mean follow‐up period of 7.6 years. Four studies directly compared limb sparing surgery and amputation; none of these were able to identify a difference in sports participation or ability. Conclusion: There is insufficient published research to provide guidance for patients with respect to return to sports following musculoskeletal tumors. Future prospective studies are needed to collect better pre‐ and post‐treatment data at multiple time intervals. Validated clinical and patient sports participation outcomes such as type of sports, level, frequency, and validated sports‐specific outcome scores should be recorded. Objectives: Polyethylene glycol (PEG) split‐dose regimen is recommended as the option of choice for colon preparation before colonoscopy in children and adults. Sodium picosulfate plus magnesium citrate (SPMC) is equally effective but better tolerated than PEG for bowel preparation before colonoscopy in children. The aim of this study was to assess the superiority of SPMC split‐dose regimen compared with SPMC day‐before regimen for bowel cleansing before colonoscopy in children. Methods: This was a multicenter, randomized, single‐blind study. Pediatric inpatients undergoing colonoscopy received SPMC either in the day‐before dosing or in split dosing. Overall bowel cleansing was assessed using the Boston Bowel Preparation Scale (BBPS) and was rated as successful when BBPS was ≥6. Patient tolerability, acceptability, and compliance were recorded. Results: The rate of successful cleansing level was significantly higher in the split‐dose group than in the day‐before group (P < 0.001). The BBPS scores were significantly higher in the split‐dose group than in the day‐before group for the whole colon (P < 0.001), the right colon (P < 0.001) and transverse colon (P < 0.001). Patient acceptability was better in the split‐dose group (P = 0.0003; P = 0.005). The percentage of children needing nasogastric tube placement was better in the split‐dose group (P = 0.007).
