In this study, we present a one‐pot synthetic approach for the preparation of metal oxide nanocomposites. Our investigation combines various analytical techniques, including FTIR, XRD, UV‐vis DRS, PL, XPS, SEM, EDX, and XANES, to comprehensively identify heterogeneous structures: SnO2‐CuO, CuO‐SnO2, NiO‐TiO2, and TiO2‐NiO. These metal oxide‐linked semiconductor solids serve as catalysts for dye photodegradation and exhibit remarkable biological activity. Our research is centered on exploring the photocatalytic potential of SnO2‐CuO nanocomposites while emphasizing the optimization of their photocatalytic and biological activities. This optimization is achieved through the careful incorporation of an ideal quantity of SnO2, as confirmed by EDX data, which reveals the composition as follows: O: 78.58 weight percent (0.525 keV), Cu: 12.61 weight percent (0.954 keV), and Sn: 8.81 weight percent (0.400 keV). Notably, under direct sunlight irradiation, the degradation efficiency of Rhodamine B dye surpasses that of pristine CuO, SnO2, TiO2, and NiO nanoparticles. Additionally, we explore the antimicrobial properties of these prepared samples at varying concentrations (50, 100, and 150 μl) against the pathogenic bacterium Staphylococcus aureus. Our findings highlight their effectiveness as antimicrobial agents. This research offers a promising method for developing highly active metal‐oxide‐linked nanomaterials, suitable for efficiently removing organic dye contaminants from water systems and showing great potential in antimicrobial applications. This work presents a comprehensive investigation of novel organic dyes MD‐1‐2 as active acid and base co‐sensitizers in dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), using well‐known Ru(II)‐based N3 dyes. These co‐sensitizers contain a triphenylamine ring as a donor scaffold linked with an electron‐withdrawing cyanopyridyl and cyano benzoic acid acceptor for MD‐1‐2. In this study, we demonstrated the significant impact of base dyes with pyridine anchoring units on the photovoltaic parameters of N3‐sensitized devices. This methodology takes advantage of the ability of carboxyl and pyridyl moieties to interact with the Brønsted acid and Lewis acid sites on TiO2 surfaces, respectively. By reducing competition between dyes for surface binding, dye packing density on the TiO2 is enhanced while electron recombination is minimized, leading to higher photovoltage. Furthermore, the influence of varying sensitizer/co‐sensitizer ratios was comprehensively studied. Outcomes showed devices made using co‐sensitizer MD‐1‐2 with sensitizer N3 at all relative concentrations surpassed those with only N3. Importantly, the co‐sensitized devices that were made utilizing 0.3 mM acid–base MD‐1 and N3 sensitizer had the greatest solar energy capacity. It had a power conversion efficiency of 10.35%, a short‐circuit current density of 20.01 mA·cm−2, and an open‐circuit voltage of 752 mV. The results provide fresh insight into optimizing devices to create DSSCs with improved efficiency by choosing acceptable co‐sensitizers at suitable concentrations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Although second near‐infrared (NIR‐II, 1000–1500 nm) light has attracted considerable attention, especially for life sciences applications, the development of organic dyes with NIR‐II absorption remains a formidable challenge. Herein we report the design, synthesis, and electronic properties of 20π‐electron antiaromatic benziphthalocyanines (BPcs) that exhibit intense absorption bands in the NIR region. The strong, low‐energy absorption of the antiaromatic BPcs is attributed to electric‐dipole‐allowed HOMO‐LUMO transitions with narrow band gaps, enabled by the reduced structural symmetry of BPc compared with regular porphyrins and phthalocyanines. The combination of peripheral substituents and a central metal decreases the HOMO‐LUMO energy gaps, leading to the extension of the absorption bands into the NIR‐II region (reaching 1100 nm) under reductive conditions. Bimetallic nanoparticles with synergistic effects revealed much higher catalytic activity than respective monometallic materials. This review describes bimetallic nanoparticles, especially silver nanoparticles, combined with the other transition elements, such as Ag−Fe, Ag−Co, Ag−Ni, and Ag−Cu, as an enhanced catalytically active material. The coverage is given to the various methods of preparation, in which factors responsible for different structures of bimetallic nanoparticles are thoroughly discussed. Herein, we have designed polyfunctional materials of d10‐configuration Cd (II) "Cd‐CP." The coordination polymer Cd‐CP was synthesized using benzene‐1,4‐dicarboxylic acid and 3,5‐diaminotriazole via solvothermal reaction. The Cd‐CP has been fully characterized by using single X‐ray crystallography, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform–infrared (FT‐IR) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD), and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) analysis. Single crystal X‐ray crystallography revealed that the CP‐Cd crystallized in triclinic space group P – 1 with the chemical composition [(BDC)(DAT)2Cd2Cl] (CH3)2 NH2+ · H2O. The present study investigated the impact of different reaction parameters, including the concentration of MG, the dosage of catalyst, and the duration of irradiation, on the outcome demonstrating a high level of photocatalytic efficacy at 99.19% under visible light irradiation. The obtained kinetic data exhibited conformity with a pseudo‐first‐order model, indicating that the rate‐determining step is likely to be photo‐absorption. The value of the apparent rate constant was found to be 0.019 min−1 for 50 mg L−1, 0.016 min−1 for 100 mg L−1, and 0.015 min−1 for 150 mg L−1 MG concentration. The corresponding half‐life time was found to be 36.44, 43.31, and 46.20 min with values of correlation coefficient (R2) as 0.99, 0.93, and 0.98, respectively. Moreover, a trapping experiment was conducted to demonstrate that hydroxy radicals (•OH) are the principal reactive oxygen species (ROS) responsible for the degradation of MG. The results of the total organic carbon (TOC) study indicated a mineralization value of around 89%, suggesting that the dye has been completely degraded into non‐toxic by‐products such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O). A new amphiphilic azo‐functionalized polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) derivative was synthesized by functionalizing octa(3‐aminopropyl)silsesquioxane (OAS‐POSS) with 4‐((4‐(dodecyloxy)phenyl)diazenyl)benzoic acid, affording a hydrophilic amino POSS head and hydrophobic dodecyl tail with a diphenyl‐azo connector. Prepared amphiphilic azo‐functionalized POSS (azo‐POSS) exhibited high ability for encapsulation and transferring cationic dyes into the organic phase by vigorously mixing with aqueous solutions of each dye. The photo‐controlled encapsulating properties of the synthesized phase transfer reagent was studied using cationic dyes, such as methylene blue (MB), crystal violet (CV) and thymol blue in acidic conditions. Results showed more than 95 % encapsulation of MB. However, no considerable encapsulation was shown in the case of anionic dyes such as eriochrome black T (EBT) and thymol blue in alkaline solutions. By trans/cis isomerization of the azo moiety of the phase transfer reagent by UV irradiation (365 nm), the amount of dye encapsulation was decreased, which could be attributed to the formation of cis isomer that led to the folding of the dodecyl alkyl tail on the POSS moiety, and therefore prevent to lay the 3‐aminopropyl moieties of POSS head to the water/DCM interface to adsorb and encapsulate MB molecules. In the current research, new metal complexes have been synthesized by using the greener synthetic approach in which 3‐Nitroaniline reacts with the elements of group‐IIB and group‐IVB. According to this method, ligand and metals were dissolved in 1,4‐dioxane and stirred at room temperature for a specific time period. The method for the preparation of metal‐base complexes is quite simple and cost‐effective. To identify the synthesized compounds various physio‐chemical analytical techniques were used such as Melting point, FT‐Raman Spectroscopy, FT‐IR Spectroscopy, Thermogravimetric analysis, and Scanning electron microscope (SEM) that provide significant data about the general structural characteristics of synthesized compounds. The percentage degradation efficiency of synthetic dyes was obtained as 57 %, 66 %, and 97 % using the synthesized compounds as photocatalysts. The current study reports tailoring the electronic donor structures of organic dyes to modify their optical and nonlinear optical (NLO) response properties. Five (5) tri‐phenyl amine (TPA) based Donor‐π‐Acceptor (D‐π‐A) organic dyes with the codes ICAA1, ICAA2, ICAA3, ICAA4, and ICAA5 were designed and investigated for their optical and NLO properties using quantum chemical methods. Optical and NLO properties of these dyes were studied by CAM‐B3LYP method and 6‐311G* basis set. The focus has been on the impact of adding secondary donors and shifting their substitutions at ortho (o), meta (m) and para (p) positions. Among all designed compounds, ICAA4 showed the highest amplitude of average third‐order NLO polarizability <γ>, which is calculated to be 1316 × 10−36 esu. Time‐dependent Density Functional Theory (TD‐DFT) method was used to determine how a change in the position of the donor affected the excitation energy (Eg) and NLO response properties. The findings showed that changing the position of the secondary donor results in a red shift among absorption spectra as well as the increase in their NLO responses. Complete process of intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) has been investigated in terms of different optical parameters such as frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs), molecular electrostatic potentials (MEPs), transition density matrix (TDMs), density of states (DOS), electron density difference (EDD), and natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. Our calculations for study of ICT process indicate that p‐position of methoxy group performs better among all other positions and even it has better NLO response properties than the compound with three collective methoxy groups. The calculated Voc values of all designed molecules range from 1.09 to 1.30, all of them are positive while their ΔGinject is found to be in the range of −0.87 to −1.79 eV indicating their decent potential for photovoltaic applications. The studied optical, NLO and photovoltaic parameters illustrated that ICAA1 to ICAA5 are appropriate molecules not only for NLO applications but also for efficient photovoltaic purposes. Sensitive detection of shortwave infrared (SWIR) light using organic dyes will be a significant advance toward many applications in industry and research. Furthermore, from a fabrication and optimization view, photogeneration of charges in diodes consisting of a single dye layer will be highly attractive. However, SWIR dyes are scarce and organic photodiodes usually utilize a donor–acceptor materials combination to split excitons into charges. Here, it is demonstrated that single‐component layers of several SWIR squaraine dyes operate as efficient photodetectors, with peak external quantum efficiency > 40% beyond 1000 nm and sensitivity out to 1300 nm. Photocurrents show a superlinear dependence on reverse bias. It is shown that this results from a field‐assisted exciton dissociation mechanism, and not from field‐dependent charge injection or extraction. SWIR photodiodes are combined with organic light‐emitting diodes to fabricate upconversion photodetectors – devices that convert SWIR photons directly into visible light. Upconverters are characterized by a low turn‐on voltage (1.5 V) and a high luminance contrast (on‐off ratio 16 000) and SWIR‐to‐visible (λ = 575 nm) photon conversion efficiency (1.85%). Herein, the surface of pyrolyzed coconut coir (PCC) dust has been functionalized using atmospheric plasma under non‐equilibrium conditions without utilizing vacuum chambers. The reactive species present in the plasma such as, molecular ions, electrons, and radicals interact with PCC's surface, leading to the introduction of epoxy, carbonyl and amino functional groups on carbon surface. The resulting plasma functionalized carbon (PFC) material was characterized using several advanced material characterization techniques, including PXRD, FTIR, XPS, N2 BET specific surface area, SEM and TEM imaging techniques, etc. Moreover, it has been used in diverse applications in toxic gas removal (CO2, CO, NOx), fluoride (F−) removal from drinking water and cationic organic dye (methylene blue–MB) removal. Tribocatalysis is one of the emerging processes for organic dye degradation application. The process uses mechanical energy as a source for breaking down organic pollutants present in water. The synergistic effect of two catalysis processes for eliminating organic pollutants, here in the present study photocatalysis an advanced oxidation process is integrated with the tribocatalysis process for enhancing the degradation efficiency of the tribocatalysis process by using BaTiO3 ceramic powder as a catalyst. The responsible factors for dye degradation via the tribocatalysis process such as surface roughness of the materials utilized, force applied, and energy band gap of the catalyst are also studied. The Methylene Blue dye's degradation was ~39%, ~60%, and ~76% through tribocatalysis, photocatalysis, and photo-tribocatalysis respectively by using 400 mg BaTiO3 ceramic powder in 8 h. The transient electron donor–acceptor (EDA) complex has been an emerging area in the photoinduced organic synthesis field, generating radicals without exogenous transition‐metal or organic dye‐based photoredox catalysts. The catalytic platform to form suitable photoactive EDA complexes for photochemical reduction reactions remains underdeveloped. Herein, a general photoinduced reductive alkylation via the EDA complex strategy is described. A simple yet multifunctional system, triphenylphosphine and iodide salt, promotes the photoinduced decarboxylative hydroalkylation, and reductive defluorinative decarboxylative alkylation of trifluoromethyl alkenes, to access trifluoromethyl alkanes and gem‐difluoroalkenes. Inorganic‐organic hybrid materials are a kind of multiduty materials with high crystallinity and definite structures, built from functional inorganic and organic components with highly tunable photochemical properties. Perylenediimides (PDIs) are a kind of strong visible light‐absorbing organic dyes with π‐electron‐deficient planes and photochemical properties depending on their micro‐environment, which provides a platform for designing tunable and efficient hybrid photocatalytic materials. Herein, four radical‐doped PDI‐based crystalline hybrid materials, Cl4‐PDI⋅SiW12O40 (1), Cl4‐PDI⋅SiMo12O40 (2), Cl4‐PDI⋅PW12O40 (3), and Cl4‐PDI⋅PMo12O40 (4), were attained by slow diffusion of polyoxometalates (POMs) into acidified Cl4‐PDI solutions. The obtained PDI‐based crystalline hybrid materials not only exhibited prominent photochromism, but also possessed reactive organic radicals under ambient conditions. Furthermore, all hybrid materials could be easily photoreduced to their radical anions (Cl4‐PDI⋅−), and then underwent a second photoexcitation to form energetic excited state radical anions (Cl4‐PDI⋅−*). However, experiments and theoretical calculations demonstrated that the formed energetic Cl4‐PDI⋅−* showed unusual POM‐dependent photocatalytic efficiencies toward the oxidative coupling of amines and the iodoperfluoroalkylation of alkenes; higher photocatalytic efficiencies were found for hybrid materials 1 (anion: SiW12O404−) and 2 (anion: SiMo12O404−) compared to 3 (anion: PW12O403−) and 4 (anion: PMo12O403−). The photocatalytic efficiencies of these hybrid materials are mainly controlled by the energy differences between the SOMO‐2 level of Cl4‐PDI⋅−* and the LUMO level of the POMs. The structure‐photocatalytic activity relationships established in present work provide new research directions to both the photocatalysis and hybrid material fields, and will promote the integration of these areas to explore new materials with interesting properties. Layered halide perovskites are solution‐processed natural heterostructures where quantum and dielectric confinement down to the nanoscale strongly influence the optical properties, leading to stabilization of bound excitons. Detailed understanding of the exciton properties is crucial to boost the exploitation of these materials in energy conversion and light emission applications, with on‐going debate related to the energy order of the four components of the most stable exciton. To provide theoretical feedback and solve among contrasting literature reports, this work performs ab initio solution of the Bethe–Salpeter equation (BSE) for symmetrized reference Cs2PbX4 (X = I and Br) models, with detailed interpretation of the spectroscopic observables based on group‐theory analysis. Simulations predict the following Edark < Ein‐plane < Eout‐of‐plane fine‐structure assignment, consistent with recent magneto‐absorption experiments and obtain similar increase in dark/bright splitting when going from lead‐iodide to a lead‐bromide composition as found experimentally. The authors further suggest that polar distortions may lead to stabilization of the in‐plane component and end‐up in a bright lowest exciton component, discuss exciton landscape over a broad energy range and clarify the exciton spin‐character, when large spin‐orbit coupling is in play, to rationalize the potential of halide perovskites as triplet sensitizers in combination with organic dyes. Tuning the topology of two‐dimensional (2D) covalent organic frameworks (COFs) is of paramount scientific interest but remains largely unexplored. Herein, we present a site‐selective synthetic strategy that enables the tuning of 2D COF topology by simply adjusting the molar ratio of an amine‐functionalized dihydrazide monomer (NH2−Ah) and 4,4′,4′′‐(1,3,5‐triazine‐2,4,6‐triyl)tribenzaldehyde (Tz). This approach resulted in the formation of two distinct COFs: a clover‐like 2D COF with free amine groups (NH2−Ah−Tz) and a honeycomb‐like COF without amine groups (Ah−Tz). Both COFs exhibited good crystallinity and moderate porosity. Remarkably, the clover‐shaped NH2−Ah−Tz COF, with abundant free amine groups, displayed significantly enhanced adsorption capacities toward crystal violet (CV, 261 mg/g) and congo red (CR, 1560 mg/g) compared to the non‐functionalized honeycomb‐like Ah−Tz COF (123 mg/g for CV and 1340 mg/g for CR), underscoring the pivotal role of free amine functional groups in enhancing adsorption capacities for organic dyes. This work highlights that the site‐selective synthetic strategy paves a new avenue for manipulating 2D COF topology by adjusting the monomer feeding ratio, thereby modulating their adsorption performances toward organic dyes. Piezoelectric materials can convert mechanical energy into electrical energy, and further piezocatalysis can be designed based on the product between piezoelectric effect and electrochemical redox effect, which is hopeful for the actual dye decomposition. Tourmaline is a natural mineral with spontaneous polarization, which is an ideal piezocatalytic material and is rarely reported in dye decomposition. In this work, after 100 mg tourmaline powder is vibrated for 120 min, the piezocatalytic dye decomposition ratios of rhodamine B (RhB), methylene blue, and methyl orange are ∼95%, ∼46%, and ∼23%, respectively. The corresponding first‐order reaction kinetic values for these three dyes are 0.02681, 0.00639, and 0.00246 min−1, respectively. By adjusting the pH value of the initial RhB solution to 5, the decomposition ratio can reach ∼99% after only 60 min of vibration. In the process of dye decomposition, it is determined that the main active substances are hydroxyl radicals and superoxide radicals via electron spin–resonance spectra test. The spontaneous polarization performance of tourmaline can effectively adsorb dye molecules to promote the catalytic reaction. Natural tourmaline minerals are abundant, low cost, and environmentally friendly making them suitable for large‐scale piezocatalysis of mineral materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Over the past few years, organic chemistry has used the organic dye rose bengal's ability to absorb visible light. Bismuth oxybromide (BiOBr) nanoflowers were anchored onto kaolinite nanosheets via a calcination method. Assisted by characterization methods including XRD, SEM, and XPS, the microstructures of photocatalysts were comparatively investigated. The findings revealed a close integration of BiOBr nanoflowers with kaolinite, resulting in a gradual phase transition and augmented surface oxygen. Furthermore, the photocatalytic performance was assessed by investigating the degradation of organic dyes under visible light irradiation. Notably, the experimental results demonstrated that the degradation efficiencies of BiOBr/kaolinite composites were higher than that of pure BiOBr. The ⋅O2− was proven to be the major active radical in the photocatalytic process. Aerogels present a huge potential for removing organic dyes from printing and dyeing wastewater (PDW). However, the preparation of aerogels with multiple dye adsorption capabilities remains a challenge, as many existing aerogels are limited to adsorbing only a single type of dye. Herein, a composite aerogel (CG/T‐rGO) with the addition of carboxymethyl chitosan, gelatin and tannic acid reduced graphene oxide (T‐rGO) was synthesized by freeze‐drying technology. The electrostatic interactions between dye molecular and GEL/CMCS (CG) networks, as well as the supramolecular interactions (H‐bonds, electrostatic interactions and π–π stacks) between T‐rGO, have endowed the aerogel with the ability to adsorb multiple types of dye, such as methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO). Results exhibited that the prepared CG/T‐rGO aerogel possessed strong mechanical strength and a porous 3D network structure with a porosity of 96.33 %. Using MB and MO as adsorbates, the adsorption capacity (88.2 mg/g and 66.6 mg/g, respectively) and the mechanism of the CG/T‐rGO aerogel were investigated. The adsorption processes of aerogel for MB and MO were shown to follow the pseudo‐second‐order kinetic model and Langmuir isotherm model, indicating the chemical adsorption of a monolayer. Light‐gated chemical reactions allow spatial and temporal control of chemical processes. Here, we suggest a new system for controlling pH‐sensitive processes with light using two photobases of Arrhenius and Brønsted types. Only after light excitation do Arrhenius photobases undergo hydroxide ion dissociation, while Brønsted photobases capture a proton. However, none can be used alone to reversibly control pH due to the limitations arising from excessively fast or overly slow photoreaction timescales. We show here that combining the two types of photobases allows light‐triggered and reversible pH control. We show an application of this method in directing the pH‐dependent reaction pathways of the organic dye Alizarin Red S simply by switching between different wavelengths of light, i. e., irradiating each photobase separately. Among the various anti‐counterfeiting solutions, fluorescent compounds gained attention as challenging to copy solutions because of astute technological improvements. However, fluorescent compound usage in counterfeit detection is limited due to high price of rare earth metals, the low photostability of pigments or organic dyes, and the long‐term toxicity of conventional semiconductor quantum dots. Herein lies the value of carbon dot, a very stable, reasonably priced, and environmentally friendly material with intriguing features. In this work the development of blue fluorescent, N‐doped carbon dots (NCD) from waste bamboo stem cuttings via hydrothermal route is presented as an environmentally friendly approach to reduce the risk of toxic gas evolution from burning of bamboo waste. Herein we synthesized biochar/iron oxide composite (C/α‐Fe2O3/γ‐Fe2O3) by two‐step calcination method. The prepared C/α‐Fe2O3/γ‐Fe2O3 had a highly pure and a concentration ratio of α‐Fe2O3 and γ‐Fe2O3 about 1 : 1. The optical properties of as‐synthesized C/α‐Fe2O3/γ‐Fe2O3 show a lower bandgap energy (1.90 eV) than that of pure C/α‐Fe2O3 (2.02 eV). The effects of different biochar composite catalysts on the removal of amino black were investigated. Upon illumination, the total removal rate of amino black dye by C/α‐Fe2O3/γ‐Fe2O3 catalyst reached 98 %, which was about 1.7 times that of C/α‐Fe2O3. In addition, the coercivity and the remanence intensity of C/α‐Fe2O3/γ‐Fe2O3 is respectively 1.81 times and 7.17 times that of C/α‐Fe2O3. The catalyst could be magnetically separated and reused for five times with a slight loss of its reactivity. Advanced oxidation process using reactive oxygen species (ROS) can be efficiently utilized to remove soluble contaminants from water. Herein, we have reported a facile method for the activation of molecular oxygen to produce ROS using Prussian blue analog (PBA)‐derived catalyst CoNx@NC. The two‐electron reduction of O2 by CoNx@NC produces H2O2, which is further dissociated into ⋅OH radicals and decomposes water‐soluble organic dye (methylene blue) and antibiotics (ciprofloxacin and amoxicillin). CoNx@NC is capable of removing 98 % of ciprofloxacin in a short period of time (65 minutes) in the presence of oxygen. Further, CoNx@NC can activate peroxodisulfate in the aqueous medium to produce ROS (SO4⋅−, and ⋅OH) and catalyzes the decomposition of the antibiotics and organic dye. The efficiency of the degradation of antibiotics and dye is improved when peroxodisulfate is used for the formation ROS. The higher oxidation potential and longer life‐time of SO4⋅− than ⋅OH improves the rate oxidation with peroxodisulfate. Organic dye molecules and pathogenic microorganisms exist widely in printing and dyeing wastewater, causing persisting concerns about water environment safety. Herein, newly developed alginate–chitosan–graphene oxide nanosheets gel beads with both exceptional adsorption and antibacterial functions are reported. NaHCO3 is selected as porogen and Ag+ is used as antibacterial enhancer. The adsorption properties of the beads fit well with the Langmuir isotherm and pseudo‐second‐order model, suggesting a monolayer behavior of the adsorption and their reaction rate is controlled by chemisorption. The theoretical liminal value of the adsorption of methylene blue by the beads reaches 847.46 mg g−1. After five adsorption–desorption cycles, the beads retain almost intact adsorption activity, and the sterilization rates of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus remain at 99.99%. Owing to its hydrophobic properties and reactivity, triarylphosphines (PAr3) are promising precursors for the development of new amphiphiles. However, an efficient and reliable synthetic method for amphiphiles based on highly hydrophobic PAr3 is still required. Herein, a straightforward transformation of highly hydrophobic PAr3 into amphiphiles via the Staudinger reaction is reported. By simply mixing PAr3 and a hydrophilic trichlorophenyl azide containing two hydrophilic chains, amphiphiles bearing a N=P bond (i. e. an azaylide moiety) were quantitatively formed. The obtained azaylide‐based amphiphiles were remarkably water‐soluble, enabling their spontaneous self‐assembly into 2 nm‐sized micelles composed of 4–5 molecules in water with a low critical micelle concentration (up to 0.05 mM or less) due to the effective intermolecular interactions among the hydrophobic surfaces. Although the azaylide moiety is easily hydrolyzed in the presence of water, the azaylide in the amphiphiles displayed notable stability in water even at 60 h, which stems from the LUMO modulation induced by the presence of three electron‐withdrawing chloro groups and two twisted alkoxycarbonyl groups, according to DFT calculations. An amphiphile having a large hydrophobic surface solubilized various hydrophobic organic dyes through efficient intermolecular interactions, resulting in the dyes exhibiting either monomer or excimer emissions in water. The development of efficient photocathodes is of critical importance for the constructions of promising tandem photo‐electrochemical cells. Most known dye‐sensitized photocathodes are prepared with the conventional carboxylic or phosphonic acid anchors and require the presence of other terminal linking groups to connect catalysts; they suffer from high synthetic difficulty and low adsorption stability in aqueous media. Here, a compact bilayer photocathode has been prepared by using a pyrene‐based photosensitizer with multiple terminal pyridine moieties as both the anchoring and linking groups to connect a Co hydrogen‐evolution catalyst to the NiO substrate. The catalyst and dye molecule are assembled in a layer‐by‐layer manner on NiO through the metal‐pyridine coordination. This photocathode exhibits good dye adsorption stability in aqueous media. A stable cathodic photocurrent of 70 μA cm−2 was achieved, with H2 being generated at the photocathode under the visible‐light irradiation. The Faraday efficiency of H2 evolution was estimated to be 9.1 %. Transient absorption spectral studies suggest that the interfacial hole transfer occurs within a few picoseconds. The integration of the organic photosensitizer with pyridine anchoring and linking groups is expected to provide a simple method for the fabrication of stable and efficient photocathodes. The synergetic combination of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) with organic dye molecules in functional heterostructures is promising for various optoelectronic applications. Here resonance energy transfer (RET) from a red‐emitting WS2 monolayer (1L‐WS2) to a layer of near‐infrared (NIR) emitting organic dye molecules is demonstrated. It is found that the total photoluminescence (PL) yield of the heterostructures is up to a factor of eight higher as compared to the PL yield of pristine 1L‐WS2. This is attributed to the efficient conversion of the mostly non‐radiative excitons in 1L‐WS2 into radiative excitons in the dye layer. A type‐I energy level alignment of the 1L‐WS2/dye interface assures the emission of bright PL. From excitation density‐dependent PL experiments, it is concluded that RET prevails against defect‐assisted non‐radiative recombination as well as Auger‐type exciton‐exciton annihilation in 1L‐WS2. Dye‐dye conjugates have attracted significant interest for their utility in applications such as bioimaging, theranostics, and light‐harvesting. Many classes of organic dyes have been employed in this regard; however, building blocks don't typically extend beyond small chromophores. This can lead to minor changes to the optoelectronic properties of the original dye. The exploration of dye–dye structures is impeded by long synthetic routes, incompatible synthetic conditions, or a mismatch of the desired properties. Here, we present the first‐of‐their‐kind dye‐dye conjugates of boron difluoride complexes of formazanate and dipyrromethene ligands. These conjugates exhibit dual photoluminescence bands that reach the near‐infrared spectral region and implicate anti‐Kasha processes. Cyclic voltammetry experiments revealed the generation of polyanionic species that can reversibly tolerate the uptake of up to 6 electrons. Advances in soft robotics strongly rely on the development and manufacturing of new responsive soft materials. In particular, light‐based 3D printing techniques, and especially, digital light processing (DLP), offer a versatile platform for the fast manufacturing of complex 3D/4D structures with a high spatial resolution. In this work, DLP all‐printed bilayered structures exhibiting reversible and multi‐responsive behavior are presented for the first time. For this purpose, liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) are used as active layers and combined with a printable non‐responsive elastomer acting as a passive layer. Furthermore, selective light response is incorporated by embedding various organic dyes absorbing light at different regimes in the active layers. An in‐depth characterization of the single materials and printed bilayers demonstrates a reversible and selective response. Last, the versatility of the approach is shown by DLP printing a bilayered complex 3D structure consisting of four different materials (a passive and three different LCE active materials), which exhibit different actuation patterns when irradiated with different wavelengths of light. The macrocyclic proligand [H4L][OTf]2, which contains four carboxamide functions and two conjugated pyridinium groups, is easily deprotonated by the weak base sodium acetate to give the corresponding neutral proligand [H2L]. Metallation of [H2L] with iron(II) chloride proceeds rapidly to form the macrocyclic complex, [FeIIICl(L)]. This is an effective catalyst for the oxidation of the organic dye orange II by hydrogen peroxide in aqueous solution, and the kinetic parameters for this reaction have been determined. In striking contrast to an analogous iron‐TAML complex that contains two phenyl groups in place of the two pyridinium groups, [FeIIICl(L)] is a very active oxidation catalyst at pH 7 and is also highly stable towards acid‐promoted demetallation at pH 5 or above. A visible‐light‐mediated cycloaddition of azobenzenes and nonstabilized azomethine ylides has been developed to access 1,2,4‐triazolidines. With readily available organic dye rose bengal as a photocatalyst and alkyl tertiary amines as precursors for azomethine ylides, the reaction proceeded smoothly under visible light irradiation at room temperature, affording various 4‐alkyl‐1,2‐diaryl‐1,2,4‐triazolidines with yields of up to 96%. Dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are a feasible alternative to traditional silicon‐based solar cells because of their low cost, eco‐friendliness, flexibility, and acceptable device efficiency. In recent years, solid‐state DSSCs (ss‐DSSCs) have garnered much interest as they can overcome the leakage and evaporation issues of liquid electrolyte systems. However, the poor morphology of solid electrolytes and their interface with photoanodes can minimize the device performance. The photosensitizer/dye is a critical component of ss‐DSSCs and plays a vital role in the device's overall performance. In this review, we summarize recent developments and performance of photosensitizers, including mono‐ and co‐sensitization of ruthenium, porphyrin, and metal‐free organic dyes under 1 sun and ambient/artificial light conditions. Organic dyes based on chlorophyll derivatives were synthesized and investigated with respect to applications in dye sensitized solar cells (DSSC). In this study, we present a novel method for immobilizing Palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs) onto a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) support (Pd NPs@PDMS). To enhance the stability of Pd NPs on the PDMS surface, we functionalized a PDMS thin film with amine groups. The structure and morphology of the resulting Pd NPs@PDMS material were characterized using various techniques, including field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements. Furthermore, we investigated the catalytic performance of the Pd NPs@PDMS nanocatalyst for the reduction of well‐known environmental pollutants, such as 4‐nitrophenol (4‐NP), 2‐nitrophenol (2‐NP), 4‐nitroaniline (4‐NA), Methyl Orange (MO), Methylene Blue (MB), and Congo Red (CR), in the presence of sodium borohydride (NaBH4) at room temperature (RT). Additionally, we explored the application of the prepared nanocatalyst in carbon‐carbon (C−C) coupling reactions, specifically Suzuki Miyaura and Sonogashira reactions. The results obtained in this study demonstrated the high efficiency and environmentally friendly nature of Pd NPs@PDMS as a catalyst for both C−C coupling reactions and the degradation of organic pollutants. Organic dyes hold great promise for application in photodynamic therapy (PDT). However, they currently face challenges such as inadequate photodynamic activity, limited tumor penetration, and constraints imposed by tumor hypoxia. Here, a facile and efficient strategy is presented for multi‐enhanced PDT through the fluorination of a squarylium indocyanine dye‐based photosensitizer (FCy). The amphiphilic FCy features perfluorooctane and PEG‐biotin moieties conjugated to a squarylium indocyanine core. In aqueous environments, FCy spontaneously self‐assembles into stable nano‐sized photosensitizers (FCy NPs), demonstrating a high oxygen loading ability attributable to the presence of perfluoroalkyl groups. Consequently, the aggregation of squarylium indocyanine dyes remarkably boosts the photodynamic effect, yielding a 15‐fold improvement in singlet oxygen quantum yield. Owing to the perfluoroalkyl group, FCy NPs exhibit increased endoplasmic reticulum (ER)‐ accumulating abilities, which further induce ER stress upon laser irradiation and enhance the PDT effect. Furthermore, the superior deep tumor penetration ability of FCy NPs is confirmed through both in vitro and in vivo studies. With efficient oxygen supply to the deep tumor regions, FCy NPs demonstrate potent imaging‐guided PDT against hypoxia tumors. The study substantiates the enhanced ER‐accumulating ability of the perfluoroalkyl group and presents a facile fluorination strategy for the multi‐enhancement of photosensitizers. Instrumental techniques able to identify and structurally characterize the aggregation states in thin films of chiral organic π‐conjugated materials, from the first‐order supramolecular arrangement up to the microscopic and mesoscopic scale, are very helpful for clarifying structure‐property relationships. Iron oxide and its carbon‐containing biochar have shown efficiencies in Fenton oxidation reactions in recent years. Though magnetic biochar composites have been reported, developing facile, environment‐friendly methods with appropriate activity remains challenging. Removing dye traces from aqueous solutions is a prime concern under water scarcity issues at different levels. We developed a catalyst of biochar with magnetite for dye remediation. Magnetite is homogeneously loaded on biochar surfaces to form Fe3O4‐biochar to efficiently activate H2O2 to achieve hydroxyl radicals. This catalyst degrades Fast green dye efficiently around 89.3 % within 60 min with the optimum reaction conditions of 15 mM Fast Green dye, pH=4, 30 mg of Fe3O4‐biochar and 25 mM of H2O2. The composite shows around 41 % increase in the degradation rate after incorporating the Fe3O4 on biochar. The prepared Fe3O4‐biochar composite can be easily recycled without significant activity loss for five successive degradation reactions. The reported study provided a direction to prepare newer Fenton catalysts from sustainable sources for the degradation of organic dyes in water and overcame individual limitations of Fe3O4 and biochar. The combination of semiconductors and transition metal compounds for Fenton‐like application has been widely reported. However, there are still some problems that can be further studied such as the optimization of metal species and in‐depth research of mechanism. In this paper, using melamine and copper acetate as raw materials, a kind of composite of copper oxide and graphitic carbon nitride (CuO/g‐C3N4) is synthesized by a facile hydrothermal method. The synthetic conditions such as type of transition metal salt and ratio of raw material are further optimized. With the presence of H2O2, the CuO/g‐C3N4 composite shows exceptional broad‐spectrum Fenton‐like catalytic performance against the organic dyes in aqueous solution within a wide pH range, and the highest degradation rate of organic dyes can reach 99% within 10 min. After eight times of recycling, the catalytic activity of the composite can still remain more than 85%. More importantly, the CuO/g‐C3N4 composite presented excellent anti‐interference ability toward heavy metal ions and complex pollutants. The development of fluorophores with photoemission beyond 1000 nm provides the opportunity to develop novel fluorescence microscopes sensitive to those wavelengths. Imaging at wavelengths beyond the visible spectrum enables imaging depths of hundreds of microns in intact tissue, making this attractive for volumetric imaging applications. Here, a novel shortwave‐infrared line‐scan confocal microscope is presented that is capable of deep imaging of biological specimens, as demonstrated by visualization of labeled glomeruli in a fixed uncleared kidney at depths beyond 400 µm. Imaging of brain vasculature labeled with the near‐infrared organic dye indocyanine green, the shortwave‐infrared organic dye Chrom7, and rare earth‐doped nanoparticles is also shown, thus encompassing the entire spectrum detectable by a typical shortwave‐infrared sensitive InGaAs detector. There has been a notable surge of interest in the field of dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) in recent years due to their remarkable performance in indoor/ambient and diffused light conditions. A significant portion of these highly efficient indoor DSSCs employs organic dyes based on triphenylamine. In this study, we present the findings of our investigation on two metal‐free D‐π‐A organic dyes, namely triphenylamine (YK 10) and hexyloxy‐substituted triphenylamine (YK 11), serving as electron donors. These dyes feature a 3,3′′‐dioctyl‐2,2′:5′,2′′‐terthiophene π‐spacer and cyanoacetic acid as the anchoring group. In order to comprehensively assess the relationship between the molecular structure, physical properties, and solar cell performance, we conducted in‐depth analysis involving photophysical, electrochemical, and theoretical studies. Our results indicate that these dyes possess the ability to effectively capture light within the visible spectrum and exhibit suitable energetic characteristics for efficient electron injection and dye regeneration. Through the utilization of density functional theory (DFT) modeling, we explored the interfacial adsorption configuration of the dyes on the TiO2 semiconductor, revealing the involvement of the cyano group in the anchoring mechanism for both sensitizers. Moreover, the intramolecular S...CN interaction in these dyes was verified through topological quantum‐theory‐of‐atom‐in‐molecule (QTAIM) analysis, which facilitates additional intramolecular charge transfer pathways. The DSSCs incorporating YK 10 and YK 11 demonstrated power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 6.42 % and 6.22 %, respectively, under full sun illumination (100 mW/cm2). Remarkably, under both standard 1000 lux CFL and LED illumination conditions, YK 11 exhibited superior performance with PCEs of 8.29 % and 5.89 %, respectively, surpassing the efficiencies of YK 10, which achieved 7.50 % and 5.09 % efficiencies under the same conditions. Functionalization of IID to increase its structural complexity is demanding for obtaining diversity properties. In this work, a new type of photosensitizer with the characteristics of molecular rotors, namely DPPy, served as the molecular scaffold for further investigation. To adjust the photocatalytic oxidation ability, DAPy and CBPy were designed and synthesized based on the enhancement and diminishment of the intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) process, respectively. Kinetic studies revealed that DAPy and CBPy both exhibited highly efficient photo‐activated oxidase‐like activity with 3,3′,5,5′‐tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) as the substrate, which were in good accordance with their molecular engineering to promote either type I or type II reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. Impressively a colorimetric method based on the visible light induced oxidase‐like activity of molecular rotors was developed to determine the environmental temperature for the first time. Both DAPy and CBPy showed distinct sensitivities toward temperature as compared with several molecular rotors based on the typical fluorimetric detection. As a novel form of carboxylate comb‐like copolymers, SAM‐(m)PEG was prepared by polymerizing styrene (S), acrylic (A), and maleic anhydride (M) to obtain a random copolymer labeled SAM. SAM was then esterified using either polyethylene glycol (PEG) or methyl PEG (mPEG), a waterborne polymer dispersant for dispersing and stabilizing C.I. Pigment Yellow 180 (PY 180). The structures of SAM‐(m)PEG and the ground suspension of PY 180 were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), a nanoparticle size analysis, and viscometry. The effects of different branch chains, synthetic formulas, and grinding conditions on the dispersibility of SAM‐(m)PEG were evaluated. In addition, the optical properties of the pigments were investigated after ultrafine grinding. The adsorption mechanism between the SAM‐(m)PEG dispersants and PY 180 particles is also discussed. SAM‐PEG6002 outperformed the other SAM‐(m)PEG dispersants owing to its excellent dispersion and stability. When used as the dispersant, the average particle size (Z‐average) of PY 180 after grinding was 264.6 nm, and the particle size distribution became narrow (PDI=0.089). Moreover, SAM‐PEG6002 effectively maintained the color performance of the pigment, and the product was successfully applied to the pigment coating. Therefore, SAM‐PEG6002 is an effective waterborne polymer dispersant for organic pigments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this work, cobalt activated TiO2 photocatalyst have been successfully prepared on graphene oxide (GO) using simple and cost‐effective method to prepare Co‐TiO2/GO nanocomposites for the photocatalytic treatment of methylene blue (MB), representative organic dye, under visible light irradiation. The as‐prepared samples were characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), High resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM), X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV‐vis diffused reflectance spectra (DRS), Raman spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). The characterization results confirmed that Co‐TiO2 catalyst is decorated on the graphene oxide. The photocatalytic efficiency of Co‐TiO2/GO for the degradation of MB was also improved by changing the proportion between Co‐TiO2 and GO. Highest photocatalytic activity was observed for Co‐TiO2 loaded with 5 wt % GO (88.7 %) compared with neat Co‐TiO2 (43.4 %) after 180 min of visible light irradiation. Furthermore, degradation by products was analyzed on Quadrupole Time‐of‐Flight Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectroscopy (QTOF/LCMS) and the possible degradation pathway was proposed. It is investigated that the Co‐TiO2/GO nanocomposite has potential use in the catalytic degradation of organic contaminants under visible light irradiation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
