Previous studies in small samples have identified inconsistent cortical abnormalities in major depressive disorder (MDD). Despite genetic influences on MDD and the brain, it is unclear how genetic risk for MDD is translated into spatially patterned cortical vulnerability. Here, we initially examined voxel-wise differences in cortical function and structure using the largest multi-modal MRI data from 1660 MDD patients and 1341 controls. Combined with the Allen Human Brain Atlas, we then adopted transcription-neuroimaging spatial correlation and the newly developed ensemble-based gene category enrichment analysis to identify gene categories with expression related to cortical changes in MDD. Results showed that patients had relatively circumscribed impairments in local functional properties and broadly distributed disruptions in global functional connectivity, consistently characterized by hyper-function in associative areas and hypo-function in primary regions. Moreover, the local functional alterations were correlated with genes enriched for biological functions related to MDD in general (e.g., endoplasmic reticulum stress, mitogen-activated protein kinase, histone acetylation, and DNA methylation); and the global functional connectivity changes were associated with not only MDD-general, but also brain-relevant genes (e.g., neuron, synapse, axon, glial cell, and neurotransmitters). Our findings may provide important insights into the transcriptomic signatures of regional cortical vulnerability to MDD. Previous studies have demonstrated that exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) can affect maternal and infant health. However, the conclusions regarding the effects of seasonal PAH exposure on maternal and infant health have been inconsistent. To further elucidate this issue, this study included data from 2282 mother-infant pairs in the Zuni birth cohort. The objective was to investigate the association between maternal late-pregnancy urinary PAH metabolite concentrations and neonatal birth outcomes during the heating and non-heating seasons. The results demonstrated that PAH exposure in Zunyi was primarily dominated by 2-OHNAP and 1-OHNAP and that the concentrations of PAH metabolites were significantly higher during the heating season. Furthermore, PAH metabolite exposure was found to affect neonatal birth weight, birth length, and parity index with seasonal differences. Further dose-effect analyses revealed nonlinear relationships and seasonal differences between PAH metabolites and neonatal birth weight, birth length, and parity index. Bayesian kernel mechanism regression modeling demonstrated that the inverted U-shaped relationship between PAH metabolites and neonatal birth weight and parity index was exclusive to the heating season. Consequently, it can be posited that maternal exposure to PAH metabolites during late pregnancy exerts a detrimental influence on neonatal growth and development, which is further compounded by the use of heating fuels. The weight of the breasts affects women's center of gravity; thus, the loss of a unilateral breast directly causes a change in body posture when a patient undergoes unilateral modified radical mastectomy. This study examined the effects of an external prosthesis (EP), immediate breast reconstruction (IBR), and body shape training (BST) on body posture, body image, and quality of life in patients with breast cancer with unilateral mastectomy through an 18-month follow-up. Of 810 individuals screened for eligibility, 722 were enrolled and randomly assigned into three comparison groups (EP [n = 157] vs. IBR [n = 157]; EP [n = 143] vs. BST [n = 143]; IBR [n = 61] vs. BST [n = 61]). IBR was superior to EP and BST, with the smallest trend of changes in body posture, the least body image distress, and a higher quality of life. EP was superior to BST, with the smallest trend of changes in body posture, the least body image distress, and a higher quality of life. IBR can effectively maintain body posture and improve body image, thereby reducing body image distress and improving quality of life. HMOs (Human milk oligosaccharide) has an impact on maternal and infant health. Colostrum samples of 70 breastfeeding women in China were collected and recorded clinical characteristics. The major oligosaccharides and microbiota were quantitated in colostrum. The concentration of fucosylated HMOs in primipara was higher than that of multipara (p = 0.030). The concentration of N-acetylated HMOs in vaginal delivery milk was less than that of cesarean (p = 0.038). Non-fucosylated HMOs of breastfeeding women were less than that of breast pump (p = 0.038). Meanwhile, the concentration of LNT was positively correlated with Lactobacillus (r = 0.250, p = 0.037). DS-LNT was negatively correlated with Staphylococcus (r = – 0.240, p = 0.045). There was a positive correlation of Streptococcus with LNFP II (r = 0.314, p = 0.011) and 3-SL (r = 0.322, p = 0.009). In addition, there was a negative correlation between 2'-FL and 3-FL (r = – 0.465, p = 0.001). There was a positive correlation between LNT and LNnT (r = 0.778, p = 0.001). Therefore, the concentration of HMOs is related to number of deliveries, delivery mode, lactation mode and perinatal antibiotic. The concentration of HMOs is related to Lactobacillus, Streptococcus and Streptococcus in colostrum. In addition, there are connections between different oligosaccharides in content. The discovery and utilization of natural products derived from endophytic microorganisms have garnered significant attention in pharmaceutical research. While remarkable progress has been made in this field each year, the absence of dedicated open-access databases for endophytic microorganism natural products research is evident. To address the increasing demand for mining and sharing of data resources related to endophytic microorganism natural products, this study introduces EMNPD, a comprehensive endophytic microorganism natural products database comprising manually curated data. Currently, EMNPD offers 6632 natural products from 1017 endophytic microorganisms, targeting 1286 entities (including 94 proteins, 282 cell lines, and 910 species) with 91 diverse bioactivities. It encompasses the physico-chemical properties of natural products, ADMET information, quantitative activity data with their potency, natural products contents with diverse fermentation conditions, systematic taxonomy, and links to various well-established databases. EMNPD aims to function as an open-access knowledge repository for the study of endophytic microorganisms and their natural products, thereby facilitating drug discovery research and exploration of bioactive substances. In the area of Polymer dielectric materials, those with low dielectric constant and low dielectric loss have potential to be applied in high-frequency signal transmissions, such as antennae of mobile phones and millimeter-wave radars. This study is focused on producing fluorinated polyimide (PI) film with modified organosilicon (APDS). In this work, APDS was used to PI film. The spatial hindrance of Trifluoromethyl can reduce the high frequency dielectric loss of modified PI film. The length of molecular chain was decreased as increasing the proportion of APDS, which reduced the quantity of polar imide rings in unit volume. Meanwhile, the Si-O-Si bond combination in backbone decreased the integer polarity of PI film, which resulted in the decrease of tan 훿. The values of ε and tan 훿 were 2.48 and 0.00335 respectively under 10 GHz. The values of ε and tan훿 were reduced to 6.6% and 36.5% respectively compared with base membrane. Thus, this work provides a simple method to reduce the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of PI film. Meanwhile, the relationship between dielectric properties and molecular structure was proved. The influence of three main parameters including irradiation time, weight fraction of photocatalysts including multi-walled carbon nanotubes and different amount of TiO2 (MCT#1 and MCT#2) and pH is investigated for the degradation rate of methyl orange (MO). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and response surface methodology (RSM) have been applied to study the binary and ternary interactions of the main parameters on the degradation rate. The ANOVA results confirm that all of three studied factors have a considerable efficacy on degradation rate of MO at 5% level of probability. Meanwhile, the results show that the degradation rate is enhanced with increasing the weight fraction in range of 0.1 to 0.3%wt and irradiation time in a period of 5 to 35min.The lowest and highest degradation are observed at pH=7 and pH=3, respectively. The normality of residue distribution can be confirmed using graphical analysis. Purpose: The relationship between vitamin D levels and cancer incidence and mortality in individuals with metabolic syndrome (MetS) remains poorly explored. Herein, we aimed to determine the association between 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] concentrations and the risk of 16 cancer incidence types and cancer/all-cause mortality in patients with MetS. Methods: We enrolled 97,621 participants with MetS at recruitment from the UK Biobank cohort. The exposure factor was baseline serum 25(OH)D concentrations. The associations were examined using Cox proportional hazards models, which were displayed as hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: Over a median follow-up period of 10.92 years for cancer incidence outcomes, 12,137 new cancer cases were recorded. We observed that 25(OH)D concentrations were inversely related to the risk of colon, lung, and kidney cancer, and HRs (95% CI) for 25(OH)D ≥ 75.0 vs. < 25.0 nmol/L were 0.67 (0.45–0.98), 0.64 (0.45–0.91), and 0.54 (0.31–0.95), respectively. The fully adjusted model revealed a null correlation between 25(OH)D and the incidence of stomach, rectum, liver, pancreas, breast, ovary, bladder, brain, multiple myeloma, leukemia, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, esophagus, and corpus uteri cancer. Over a median follow-up period of 12.72 years for mortality outcomes, 8286 fatalities (including 3210 cancer mortalities) were documented. An "L-shaped" nonlinear dose–response correlation was detected between 25(OH)D and cancer/all-cause mortality; the respective HRs (95% CI) were 0.75 (0.64–0.89) and 0.65 (0.58–0.72). Universal anxiety questionnaires such as the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and the Visual Analog Scale for Anxiety are widely used to measure preoperative anxiety. There is currently major interest in developing a surgery-specific preoperative anxiety assessment tool. This study aimed to develop and validate a preoperative anxiety scale for breast cancer patients. Based on a literature review and semi-structured interviews, a draft assessment scale was constructed. The scale was revised after two rounds of Delphi consultations, and a pilot test was performed to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale. The final scale consisted of 33 items and a global rating score with an item-level content validity of 0.765–0.941. The scale-level content validity was 0.964. Exploratory factor analysis identified four principal factors, and the cumulative contribution of variance was 62.49%. The load value of the common factors of each item was > 0.5. Confirmatory factor analysis showed a chi-square test of the goodness of fit (휒2/df) = 1.617. The root mean square error of approximation was 0.042, the goodness of fit index was 0.886, the comparative fit index was 0.956, and the normal fit index was 0.894. The total and dimension scores were positively correlated (r = 0.513–0.767, p < 0.001) with the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale-Anxiety scores. Purpose: The aim of this study was to explore how family resilience and individual resilience reduce perceived stress and psychological distress in young female breast cancer survivors with fertility intention. Methods: From June 2020 to June 2021, female breast cancer survivors were selected from the cancer centers of 10 tertiary Level A general hospitals in five cities of Sichuan Province. The survivors completed the Chinese versions of the Family Resilience Assessment Scale, Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, Perceived Stress Scale, and a self-report distress thermometer. A multiple mediation effects test and structural equation modeling were used to explore the relationships among family resilience, individual resilience, perceived stress, and psychological distress. Results: The direct effect of family resilience on perceived stress was β = -0.320 (95% confidence interval -0.365, -0.271, P < 0.01). The direct effect of family resilience on psychological distress was β = -0.263 (95% confidence interval -0.363, -0.153, P < 0.001). The direct effect of family resilience on individual resilience was β = 0.593 (95% confidence interval 0.542–0.640, P < 0.001). The indirect effect of family resilience on psychological distress was β = -0.322 (95% confidence interval -0.373, -0.274, P < 0.001). Both perceived stress and individual resilience mediated the relationship between family resilience and psychological distress. Furthermore, a partial mediating effect of perceived stress and individual resilience on family resilience and psychological distress was observed. This study introduces an approach for constructing groups of filled cracks in the surrounding rock to achieve anti-blasting and wave elimination protection for underground caverns. To verify the attenuation effect of the explosion wave by the filled cracks, two models, a no-crack model, and a filled-crack model, were constructed using a certain proportion of analogue materials based on the similarity theory. With the implementation of small equivalent explosion conditions, the peak pressure of the surrounding rock of the cavern and the vibration acceleration of the cavern wall under different explosion conditions were measured. To accurately judge the attenuation efficiency of the filled cracks, the peak pressure attenuation percentages between different measuring points were calculated. Furthermore, the corresponding numerical simulation analysis process was performed according to the test conditions. The results show that not only the peak pressure attenuation percentages, but also the value of vibration acceleration, were significantly reduced due to the existence of filled cracks in the model. This indicates that filled cracks in the surrounding rock of the cavern can effectively attenuate the peak pressure and vibration acceleration caused by the explosion wave, thereby achieving the protection engineering goal of anti-explosion and wave elimination. Pregnant women are widely exposed to phthalic acid esters (PAEs) that are commonly used in most aspects of modern life. However, few studies have examined the cumulative exposure of pregnant women to a variety of PAEs derived from the living environmental conditions in China. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the urinary concentrations of nine PAE metabolites in pregnant women, examine the relationship between urinary concentrations and residential characteristics, and conduct a risk assessment analysis. We included 1,888 women who were in their third trimester of pregnancy, and we determined their urinary concentrations of nine PAE metabolites using high-performance gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. The risk assessment of exposure to PAEs was calculated based on the estimated daily intake. A linear regression model was used to analyze the relationship between creatinine-adjusted PAE metabolite concentrations and residential characteristics. The detection rate of five PAE metabolites in the study population was > 90%. Among the PAE metabolites adjusted by creatinine, the urinary metabolite concentration of monobutyl phthalate was found to be the highest. Residential factors, such as housing type, proximity to streets, recent decorations, lack of ventilation in the kitchen, less than equal to three rooms, and the use of coal/kerosene/wood/wheat straw fuels, were all significantly associated with high PAE metabolite concentrations. Due to PAE exposure, ~ 42% (n = 793) of the participants faced potential health risks, particularly attributed to dibutyl phthalate, diisobutyl phthalate, and di(2-ethyl)hexyl phthalate exposure. Background: We aimed to develop and validate a plasma extracellular vesicle circular RNA (circRNA)-based signature that can predict overall survival (OS) in first-line abiraterone therapy for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) patients. Methods: In total, 582 mCRPC patients undergoing first-line abiraterone therapy from four institutions were sorted by three phases. In the discovery phase, 30 plasma samples from 30 case-matched patients with or without early progression were obtained to generate circRNA expression profiles using RNA sequencing. In the training phase, differentially expressed circRNAs were examined using digital droplet PCR in a training cohort (n = 203). The circRNA signature was constructed using a least absolute shrinkage and selection operator Cox regression to predict OS. In the validation phase, the prognostic ability of this signature was prospectively validated in two external cohorts (Cohort I, n = 183; Cohort II, n = 166). Results: We developed a five-circRNA signature, based on circCEP112, circFAM13A, circBRWD1, circVPS13C and circMACROD2, which successfully stratified patients into high-risk and low-risk groups. The prognostic ability of this signature was prospectively validated in two external cohorts (P < 0.0001, P < 0.0001). Patients with high-risk scores had shorter OS than patients with low-risk scores. Conclusion: This five-circRNA signature is a reliable predictor of OS for mCRPC patients undergoing abiraterone. Owing to the complexity of phthalates (PAEs) components and the diversity of their sources, the health hazards of their metabolites to pregnant women remain unclear. This study aimed to explore the relationship between exposure to PAEs during early pregnancy and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in rural pregnant women. We assessed pregnant women with (n = 338) or without (n = 3082) GDM from the ongoing Zunyi Birth Cohort. Participants' urine samples were collected to measure the levels of 10 metabolites of PAEs. GDM was diagnosed using the 75-g oral glucose tolerance test at 24–28 weeks of gestation. We adopted propensity score matching based on GDM-related factors and pregnant women's backgrounds to establish two groups of 338 patients: those with or without GDM. In the cohort, we included 5734 pregnant women; 519 of them developed GDM, yielding a GDM incidence rate of 9.05%. Urinary concentrations of monooctyl phthalate (MOP), mono-benzyl phthalate (MBzP), mono(2-ethyl-5-oxyhexyl) phthalate (MEOHP), and mono(2-ethyl-5-carboxypentyl) phthalate (MECPP) during early pregnancy were significantly associated with GDM (P < 0.05). Logistic regression models revealed that MEOHP in the urine was positively associated with GDM (odds ratio [OR] = 1.55; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.00–2.39). Furthermore, restricted cubic spline models revealed that urine MEOHP concentrations greater than 15.6 μg/L were positively associated with GDM, and approximately 23.5% pregnant women had urine MEOHP concentrations greater than 15.6 μg/L. Thus, approximately 23.5% of pregnant women were at the risk of developing GDM due to MEOHP, which suggested that pregnant women should reduce the use of packaged food and cosmetics to reduce the risk of GDM. Crude electronic waste (e-waste) recycling has been banned due to the serious environmental pollution it caused, leaving many abandoned e-waste sites. However, information on the current levels and associated ecological risks of e-waste-derived contaminants such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in e-waste site is limited. Wild fish, because they can accumulate high pollutant levels, are suitable indicators for environmental pollution monitoring and has been widely employed as biomonitoring. In this study, we investigated the changes in the levels and profiles of PCBs in a wild fish species, the northern snakehead (Channa argus), before (2009) and after (2016) the ban of crude e-waste recycling from a typical e-waste recycling site in South China. The mean total PCB concentration in the northern snakehead sampled in 2016 (343 ng/g ww) declined by 75% compared with that (1410 ng/g ww) in 2009. The contributions of less chlorinated congeners (tri-CBs and tetra-CBs) in the northern snakehead tended to decrease over the years, indicating that the lighter congeners are more easily eliminated than the heavier ones in the environment. Our findings suggested no fresh PCB input in these years, as well as the positive impacts of laws and regulations on the prohibition of e-waste recycling. The ecological risk assessment suggested that PCB exposure may have median to high risks to the wild fish and fish-eating wildlife that inhabit the e-waste site, even after the ban of crude e-waste recycling activities. Originally discovered in the circulation of pregnant women as a protein secreted by placental trophoblasts, the metalloprotease pregnancy-associated plasma protein A (PAPP-A) is also widely expressed by many other tissues. It cleaves insulin-like growth factor-binding proteins (IGFBPs) to increase the bioavailability of IGFs and plays essential roles in multiple growth-promoting processes. While the vast majority of the circulatory PAPP-A in pregnancy is proteolytically inactive due to covalent inhibition by proform of eosinophil major basic protein (proMBP), the activity of PAPP-A can also be covalently inhibited by another less characterized modulator, stanniocalcin-2 (STC2). However, the structural basis of PAPP-A proteolysis and the mechanistic differences between these two modulators are poorly understood. Here we present two cryo-EM structures of endogenous purified PAPP-A in complex with either proMBP or STC2. Both modulators form 2:2 heterotetramer with PAPP-A and establish extensive interactions with multiple domains of PAPP-A that are distal to the catalytic cleft. This exosite-binding property results in a steric hindrance to prevent the binding and cleavage of IGFBPs, while the IGFBP linker region-derived peptides harboring the cleavage sites are no longer sensitive to the modulator treatment. Functional investigation into proMBP-mediated PAPP-A regulation in selective intrauterine growth restriction (sIUGR) pregnancy elucidates that PAPP-A and proMBP collaboratively regulate extravillous trophoblast invasion and the consequent fetal growth. Two new heterometallic structures of [Zn2Ba(TCA)2(H2O)2]·2n(H2O) (1) and [Cd2Ba(TCA)2(DMA)2(H2O)3]·2n(DMA) (2) were successfully prepared via the solvothermal reactions of 4,4ʹ,4″-ticarboxytriphenylamine (H3TCA) with Zn(NO3)2·6H2O salts and Ba(NO3)2 or Cd(NO3)2·4H2O salts and Ba(NO3)2. The structural characterization results show that complex 1 features a 3D framework structure based on the 1D rod-like heterometal-carboxylate chains while the 3D framework of 2 is constructed from the trinuclear [Cd2Ba(COO)4] cluster. Due to the triphenylamine chromophore of TCA3−, compounds 1–2 show intensive luminescence at room temperature. Their application values on the ICU infection treatment were explored, and we also discussed the corresponding mechanism simultaneously. The utilization of enzyme linked immunosorbent assay detection was done firstly and then content of inflammatory cytokines released into the plasma was determined. Deregulation of alternative splicing is implicated as a relevant source of molecular heterogeneity in cancer. However, the targets and intrinsic mechanisms of splicing in hepatocarcinogenesis are largely unknown. Here, we report a functional impact of a Splicing Regulatory Glutamine/Lysine-Rich Protein 1 (SREK1) variant and its regulator, Serine/arginine-rich splicing factor 10 (SRSF10). HCC patients with poor prognosis express higher levels of exon 10-inclusive SREK1 (SREK1L). SREK1L can sustain BLOC1S5-TXNDC5 (B-T) expression, a targeted gene of nonsense-mediated mRNA decay through inhibiting exon-exon junction complex binding with B-T to exert its oncogenic role. B-T plays its competing endogenous RNA role by inhibiting miR-30c-5p and miR-30e-5p, and further promoting the expression of downstream oncogenic targets SRSF10 and TXNDC5. Interestingly, SRSF10 can act as a splicing regulator for SREK1L to promote hepatocarcinogenesis via the formation of a SRSF10-associated complex. In summary, we demonstrate a SRSF10/SREK1L/B-T signalling loop to accelerate the hepatocarcinogenesis. Alternative splicing is dysregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma. Purpose: To examine the status of spouses' burdens of caring for breast cancer survivors and explore the relationships between social support, family resilience, breast cancer survivors' individual resilience, and caregiver burden.Methods: A cross-sectional study on 315 young and middle-aged breast cancer survivors and their spousal caregivers was conducted at eight comprehensive Southwest China hospitals. The caregivers completed the Chinese Version of the Family Resilience Assessment Scale, the Perceived Social Support Scale, and the Zarit Caregiver Burden Interview, while breast cancer survivors completed the shortened Chinese version of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale. Structural equation modeling was used to evaluate the relationships among social support, family resilience, survivors' individual resilience, and caregiver burden.Results: Caregiver burden (45.76 ± 14.66) was found to be severe. Social support, family resilience, and individual resilience were significantly negatively associated with caregiver burden (β =  - 0.421, P < 0.001; β =  - 0.208, P < 0.001; and β =  - 0.444, P < 0.001, respectively). Individual resilience not only partially mediated the relationship between family resilience and caregiver burden (b =  - 0.052; 95% confidence interval, - 0.110, - 0.018), but also partially mediated the relationship between support and caregiver burden (b =  - 0.045; 95% confidence interval, - 0.102, - 0.011).Conclusions: The findings suggest that higher social support, family resilience, and individual resilience tend to ease caregivers' burden. Healthcare workers should have an in-depth understanding of the care needs of survivors, actively contact social security departments and social organizations to provide financial, technical, and emotional support, and provide family-based care-skills training and psychological counseling to reduce spousal caregivers' burdens. Heightened interests have been laid at the preliminary design and optimization of the centrifugal compressor for the fuel cell vehicle. The centrifugal compressor for fuel cell vehicle is driven by a high-speed motor; however, the limit of the motor speed makes the flow passage of the impeller long and narrow, which leads to a serious tip leakage loss. Serious tip leakage loss deteriorates the compressor performance. In this paper, 3-D numerical simulations were carried out with the aim of investigating the tip leakage loss in a prototype centrifugal compressor for a 100 kW fuel cell stack. The results revealed that the mixing loss caused by the interaction between the tip leakage vortex and the downstream tip leakage flow contributed to the major part of the tip leakage loss. The path of the tip leakage vortex almost followed the streamwise direction, while the downstream tip leakage flow exhibited strong circumferential momentum, which referred to the fact that they were nearly orthogonal. Therefore, a flow control approach, which was realized by enhancing the blade loading around the leading edge of blade tips in this paper, was proposed to decrease the interaction angle between the tip leakage vortex and the downstream tip leakage flow and then mitigate mixing loss by changing the flow direction of the tip leakage vortex. The results showed a smaller interaction angle was achieved in the optimized impeller compared with the baseline one. Meanwhile, the efficiency was also improved by 1.30% at design condition and the maximum efficiency improvement could be up to 10% at large mass flow condition of 92 000 r/min. Being manufactured and tested, the optimized compressor was proved to achieve an isentropic efficiency of 75.84% at design condition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
