Background: Even though arthroscopic rotator cuff repair is recognized as a standard treatment option, the risk of postoperative retear is a major concern. Purpose: To evaluate the effect of porcine-derived absorbable patch-type atelocollagen during arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Study Design: Randomized controlled trial; Level of evidence, 1. Methods: A total of 64 patients with rotator cuff tears diagnosed on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were enrolled prospectively from November 2020 to December 2021. Both groups had repairs using the suture bridge technique. For the atelocollagen group, before securing the lateral anchors, we inserted porcine-derived absorbable patch-type atelocollagen between the footprint and the tendon. On postoperative day 2, the patients underwent MRI to confirm containment of the patch-type atelocollagen. At 6 months and 1 year postoperatively, the signal intensity of the repaired tendon was assessed using MRI. Patients were evaluated using the Constant score as the primary outcome, along with the visual analog scale for pain; range of motion; American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons score; University of California, Los Angeles, score; and Korean Shoulder Score preoperatively and at 2, 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively. Results: No significant changes in the Constant score as primary outcome, pain or other functional scores, and range of motion were observed between the groups at 1 year postoperatively. The patch-type atelocollagen was confirmed to be contained by the time-zero MRI scan taken 2 days postoperatively. Among the 55 patients included in final analysis, 12 retear cases were recorded (21.8% retear rate). A significantly lower retear rate was found in the atelocollagen group, as 3 cases were observed in this group (10.3%) and 9 cases were observed in the conventional repair group (34.6%) (P =.048). Conclusion: The Constant score was not different between the groups. The retear rate after rotator cuff repair was significantly lower in the group that received porcine-derived absorbable patch-type atelocollagen compared with in the conventional group. Many adolescents worldwide suffer from stress or unhealthy emotional states such as depression. There is a trend toward limited physical contact via social distancing practices that developed during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. An experimental study aimed at investigating the effects of a mindfulness program on stress, concentration, self-esteem, and self-control in high school students. A 10-week mindfulness intervention was provided to the experimental group (n = 89) from September-November 2020, while the control group (n = 89) received general health education. Four weeks after the program, the experimental group showed reduced stress and improved concentration, self-esteem, and self-control compared to baseline. The blended learning mindfulness program is effective improving concentration and should be incorporated into the formal high school curriculum. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This cross-sectional study aims to identify high-risk symptom cluster groups for assessing the quality of nursing work life (QNWL) and turnover intention among Korean nurses who have experienced workplace violence. Nurses were recruited for an online survey in May 2021 (n = 203). The following four symptom clusters are extracted: (a) depression–anxiety, (b) shame–somatization, (c) nightmare–loss of appetite, and (d) anger–shock. Three symptom cluster groups were identified. Group 1 had the highest score for the anger–shock symptom cluster, as well as the highest symptom scores and turnover intention. Group 2 had the highest score for the nightmare–loss of appetite symptom cluster and the lowest QNWL. Group 3 had a similar symptom cluster pattern to Group 1 but lower scores for all symptom clusters. Symptom monitoring and programs tailored to symptom cluster groups at the institutional level could be useful for managing QNWL and turnover intention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a cervical cancer prevention education program for rural Korean immigrant women. A total of 46 Korean immigrant women who had not been screened in the past three years participated. The experimental group participated in the intervention program once a week for four weeks and completed a post-program survey in week 12. Compared to the control group, significant increases were detected in level of knowledge of cervical cancer prevention (p =.001), behavioral attitude toward cervical cancer prevention (p =.029) and behavioral intention regarding cervical cancer prevention (p =.005) in the experimental group. Pap screening rate of the experimental group was significantly increased (p =.029), but the rate of change in the selection of primary care providers was not significant. The results suggest the need for a multilevel approach to address cultural and systemic barriers to Korean immigrant women in promotion of cervical cancer prevention behavior. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
