Building an optical filtration function into a microfluidic chip is a promising way of simplifying the optical detection system of a microfluidic device. In this paper, a PDMS microfluidic chip filter that is capable of transmitting chlorophyll fluorescence and blocking interfering light in the visible wavelength range was developed for living algae detection with a smartphone. The chip was fabricated by sealing a layer of crystal violet solution in a PDMS layer on the top of the Sudan II-doped PDMS slab, which has a straight microchannel. Optimum dye concentrations and thicknesses for the crystal violet solution layer and Sudan II-doped PDMS slab were investigated and determined by spectrum measurements. It was found that the cut-on range of this integrated microfluidic chip is extended to about 625 nm and the transmittance in the chlorophyll fluorescence range (650 nm to 710 nm) is as high as 95%, when 25 mg L−1 Sudan II-doped PDMS slab (with a 3 mm thickness) and 2 mg L−1 crystal violet solution (with a 0.3 mm thickness) were used. Living algae detection using this chlorophyll-fluorescence-filtering PDMS microfluidic chip and a smartphone-based imaging platform was achieved, and the results compared favorably with those using a commercial filter. Lithium isotopes with high abundances (6Li and 7Li) are crucial for the advancement of nuclear energy. In order to achieve the effective separation of 7Li, a Sudan I-[HMIm][BF4]-anisole extraction system was built employing Sudan I (1-benzeneazo-2-naphthol) as the extractant and hydrophobic ionic liquid [HMIm][BF4] as the co-extractant. By optimizing the organic and aqueous phase components, the extraction rate of the system could reach up to 26.30%, and the single-stage separation factor of the system could reach 1.015 ± 0.001. Meanwhile, the mechanism of the extraction process was investigated, and it was found that the ratio of Sudan I to lithium ions is 1 : 1, and the thermodynamic enthalpy change of the extraction process was less than zero (ΔH < 0), indicating that the extraction process of the system was an exothermic process. The construction of the Sudan-ionic liquid extraction separation system provides a new idea for the study of 7Li enrichment and separation and also provides a possibility for the industrialization of high-abundance 7Li enrichment. Halide perovskites have high photoelectric conversion efficiency, making them promising candidates for photocatalysis. However, their toxic and unstable nature limits their applications. Here, we successfully synthesised three hybrid Bi-based halide perovskites: (HTMG)3Bi2Br9 (1), (HEI)2BiBr5 (2) and (HTMA)3Bi2Br9 (3). X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis shows that they all contained 0D structures composed of isolated Bi–Br clusters. The three compounds showed excellent degradability and cycling stability for Sudan III dissolved in ethanol under simulated sunlight. Quantum dots functionalization has been proven to be a simple modification strategy for improving the electroanalytical performance of two-dimensional electrode materials by increasing the specific surface area and active reaction sites. Herein, a new electrochemical sensing platform was fabricated by SnO2 quantum dot-functionalized Ti3C2 MXene (Ti3C2-SnO2QDs) for the highly sensitive detection of Sudan I in food. Ti3C2-SnO2QDs were prepared via in situ synthesis, which can control the nucleation and growth of SnO2QDs, resulting in the well-dispersed SnO2QDs with 2–3 nm size on the intersheet surface of MXene. Moreover, the formation of Ti3C2-SnO2QDs can effectively restrict the aggregation of Ti3C2 and improve the stability of SnO2QDs in aquatic environment. The prepared nanocomposite can be used as an improved modified material to further increase the electrocatalytic performance and electrochemical signal of Sudan I on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode. Under optimized conditions, the proposed analytical method displayed a linear dependence for Sudan I concentration ranging from 0.008 to 10 μM with a detection limit of 0.27 nM (S/N = 3) by electrochemical cyclic voltammetry. This sensor with excellent selectivity, reproducibility and accuracy was quantitatively validated in commercial ketchup and chili powder. This Ti3C2-SnO2QDs-based Sudan I sensor is expected to expand the application of MXene nanocomposites in electrochemical analysis and is envisioned as a promising candidate for monitoring illegal food additives in real food samples. Herein, we developed a highly sensitive electrochemical sensor for the trace detection of Sudan I (SDI) dye based on composite molecularly imprinted membranes (MIMs). The pentenyl (lipoic acyl)-isoleucyl-chitosan oligosaccharide (P(L)ICO) and pentenyl-asparaginyl-chitosan oligosaccharide (PASCO) served as bifunctional monomer oligomers. After deposition of gold nanoparticles on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) surface, a P(L)ICO layer successfully self-assembled on the surface. Subsequently, the primary MIM was polymerised on the electrode surface by using SDI as a template, PASCO as a functional monomer oligomer, and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as a cross-linking agent. Electrochemical polymerisation was then conducted in an N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide solution. After eluting the SDI molecules from the composite MIMs, the fabricated SDI-MIM(PM)/Fn-Au/GCE demonstrated specific adsorption of SDI. Under optimal conditions, the constructed sensor exhibited a linear relationship between decreasing peak current and SDI concentration from 0.02 to 3.5 μM with a low detection limit of 4 nM (S/N = 3). As a proof of concept, SDI-MIM(PM)/Fn-Au/GCE was also applied to detect SDI in chili powder samples, with recoveries ranging from 96.8 to 106.6%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Traditional metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), although have the ability to accumulate some chemicals from solution, are usually electrochemically inert. Here, spherical MIL-53(NiFe) MOFs have been synthesized via a simple solvothermal method. A series of characterization methods including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrophotometry, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and element mapping were used to investigate this material. An MIL-53(NiFe)/AB/GCE-modified electrode was constructed using acetylene black (AB) as the conductive substrate, which can make up for the electrochemical inertness of metal in the MOFs to some extent. Moreover, the bimetallic center can coordinate with the azo functional group in Sudan I to some extent, which is beneficial to the binding of the molecules to the electrode. Thus, the sensitive and rapid detection of Sudan I can be realized. The quantitative determination of Sudan I was carried out via the differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) method in a wider linear range (0.005–10 μM) and lower detection limit (0.002 μM, S/N = 3).
