Simple Summary: Forkhead-box M1 (FOXM1) is a proliferation-associated transcription factor, overexpressed in almost all the cancers, making its regulation worth investigating. FOXM1 is known to bind to the promoters of certain microRNAs, a class of biomolecules involved in post-transcriptional gene regulation. Database mining followed by Venn analysis led us to the shortlisting of seven microRNAs, among which microRNA-532-3p showed the strongest interaction with FOXM1 3'UTR. The ectopic overexpression of miR-532-3p in colorectal cancer (CRC) cells led to decreased FOXM1 levels which resulted in the alteration of CRC functionalities. These altered phenotypes were supported by a change in the expression of proliferation and EMT markers. In conclusion, the present study suggested that the regulation of FOXM1 by microRNA-532-3p via its interaction with FOXM1 3'UTR inhibited CRC proliferation, migration, and invasion. MicroRNA-532-3p interacted with the 3'UTR of the FOXM1 mRNA transcript most efficiently. MicroRNA-532-3p was ectopically overexpressed in colorectal cancer (CRC) cell lines, leading to reduced transcript and protein levels of FOXM1 and cyclin B1, a direct transcriptional target of FOXM1. Further, a clonogenic assay was conducted in overexpressed miR-532-3p CRC cells that revealed a decline in the ability of cells to form colonies and a reduction in migratory and invading potential. These alterations were reinforced at molecular levels by the altered transcript and protein levels of the conventional EMT markers E-cadherin and vimentin. Overall, this study identifies the regulation of FOXM1 by microRNA-532-3p via its interaction with FOXM1 3'UTR, resulting in the suppression of proliferation, migration, and invasion, suggesting its role as a tumor suppressor in CRC. Simple Summary: Breast cancer is the most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women globally, with over 2.26 million new cases in women in 2020. Male breast cancer, while rare (less than 1% of cases), is treated similarly to female breast cancer despite some clinical differences. Advances in treatment, such as using genomic and immunohistochemical markers, have significantly improved survival rates for women. Men with breast cancer are often older at diagnosis, and their prognosis may differ due to age and other factors. The survival analysis conducted on 2162 patients (19 males and 2143 females) suggests that male breast cancer may have a poorer prognosis compared to female breast cancer. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers and the leading cause of cancer death in women. Less than 1% of breast cancer cases are male breast cancers. Although there has been significant progress made in the management of breast cancer, due to its rarity among men, the question of whether men and women with breast cancer have the same treatment response and survival rate still needs to be answered. The primary goal of this study is to compare survival outcomes between male and female breast cancer patients. Material and Method: This cohort study represents a retrospective and anonymized data analysis of 2162 breast cancer cases (19 males and 2143 females), registered over a period of 12 years, from 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2021, in the Clinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Diakoneo Diak Klinikum Schwäbisch Hall, Germany. Results: According to the Kaplan–Meier survival analysis, the estimated overall 3-year survival rate was 91.1% for women and 88.9% for men. The log-rank test of equality of survival distributions indicated a statistically significant difference in survival times between the two groups (p = 0.009). In the subsequent age-matched Kaplan–Meier analysis, the p-value was below the significance threshold (p = 0.068). Simple Summary: This meta-analysis compared PET imaging (PET/CT and PET) against MRI in detecting a residual tumor or recurrence in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) at the primary site, retrieving studies that included patients who had both types of scans within a short period after treatment. According to the collected evidence, PET/CT and PET are more sensitive compared to MRI in detecting tumors. However, both methods were equally able to correctly identify patients who did not have tumors. These findings suggest that PET imaging might be more reliable for detecting tumor recurrence or residual disease, which could help doctors make better decisions about patient care and follow-up after treatment for NPC. Background: This meta-analysis compared the diagnostic performance of [18F] fluorodeoxyglucose ([18F]FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) or PET versus Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in detecting recurrence or residual tumors at the primary site in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted in the PubMed/MEDLINE and CENTRAL databases to find studies with at least 20 patients with NPC undergoing both [18F]FDG PET/CT (or [18F]FDG PET) and MRI for detecting recurrence or assessing residual disease at the primary site. The pooled sensitivity and specificity of PET/CT and MRI were calculated with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) and compared. Results: Five studies, including 1908 patients (six patient groups), were included. PET imaging had higher sensitivity [93.3% (95% CI: 91.3–94.9%); I2 = 52.6%] compared to MRI [80.1% (95% CI: 77.2–82.8%); I2 = 68.3%], but the specificity of the two modalities was similar: 93.8% (95% CI: 92.2–95.2%; I2 = 0%) for PET/CT and 91.8% (95% CI: 90.1–93.4%; I2 = 94.3%) for MRI. The areas under the curve (AUCs) for PET/CT and MRI were 0.978 and 0.924, respectively, without significant difference (p = 0.23). Conclusions: This meta-analysis suggests that [18F]FDG PET imaging and MRI do not significantly differ in diagnostic performance. Nevertheless, [18F]FDG PET imaging shows higher sensitivity than MRI. Simple Summary: ICI-based combinations have led to a significant change in mRCC medical treatment. However, data from real-world (RW) cohorts are rare. In this multicenter study, we evaluated the safety and effectiveness of cabozantinib plus nivolumab in real-world cohorts from centers in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. The median PFS in the overall cohort was 18.6 months. We also analyzed subgroups in relation to the IMDC, histology, and with regard to the presence of bone metastasis. In summary, our real-word data support the promising efficacy data of the pivotal trials, particularly in patients with non-ccRCC and those without bone metastases at the start of the treatment. Introduction: Combinations of immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are the standard of care (SOC) for treatment-naive metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) patients. In this multicenter study, we evaluated the RW safety and efficacy of cabozantinib plus nivolumab in mRCC patients. Methods: Data were retrospectively collected from twelve cancer centers in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Patients with advanced or mRCC were eligible. The investigator-based objective response rate (ORR) and progression free survival (PFS) were calculated from the start of the treatment to progression or death. Descriptive statistics and Kaplan–Meier (KM) plots were utilized where appropriate. Results: In total, 96 eligible patients (66.6% male) with a median age of 66.0 years were included. The most common histology was clear-cell RCC (ccRCC) in 63.4% (n = 61). A prior nephrectomy was performed in 60.4% (n = 58). ECOG 0-1 was 68.8% (n = 66). A partial response was documented in 43.8% of patients (n = 42), a stable disease in 32.3% (n = 31), and a progressive disease in 8.3% (n = 8) as the best overall response. Response data were not evaluable in 13.5% (n = 13). The median follow-up time was 12.7 months (95% CI, 10.0–15.3). The PFS rate at 6 months was 89.8% in the overall population (86.8% for ccRCC; 90.0% for non-ccRCC). Adverse events (AEs) were reported in 82.3% (n = 79) for all grades and 41.7% (n = 40) for grades 3–5. Elevated liver enzymes (34.4%), diarrhea (31.3%), and hand–foot syndrome (29.2%) were the three most frequent AEs of any grade and causality. Discussion/Conclusions: In this real-world cohort of mRCC patients, the application of cabozantinib plus nivolumab was shown to be safe and feasible. Our data support the use of cabozantinib plus nivolumab as a first-line standard therapy in mRCC patients. Major limitations were the retrospective data capture and short follow-up time of our study. Simple Summary: In recent years, liquid biopsy has been introduced as a new method for the detection and management of cancer, but the studies on oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) are lacking conclusive evidence. The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression of six circulating salivary and plasmatic miRNAs (-21, -31, -138, -145, -184, and -424) as diagnostic biomarkers in patients affected by OSCC and by oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs). Our results showed that liquid biopsy from saliva may be a useful tool for the identification of these biomarkers; in particular, miR-138 and miR-424 showed decreased expression levels in saliva samples in OSCC and OPMD patients compared to healthy controls. The introduction of liquid biopsy in daily clinical practice could revolutionize the approach to oral lesions by allowing the mass screening, stratification and monitoring of patients at risk, the monitoring of the response to treatment and the early identification of any recurrences. This study aims to evaluate the expression of salivary and plasmatic miRNAs as diagnostic biomarkers in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs). A total of 25 patients were divided into three groups, according to their diagnosis: OSCC patients (n = 14); OPMDs patients (n = 6); and healthy controls (n = 5). At the time at diagnosis/enrolment, patients underwent salivary and plasmatic collection. The expression of miRNA -21, -31, -138, -145, -184, and -424 were evaluated by real-time PCR. An F-test and ANOVA test were performed to evaluate the miRNA levels (significance at p < 0.05). By comparing miRNA expression levels from saliva, a statistically significant difference emerged in the expression of miR-138 and miR-424 between the three groups (p < 0.05). In particular, these two miRNAs showed decreased expression levels in saliva samples from OSCC and OPMD patients compared to those from healthy controls. On the other hand, miRNA expression levels in plasma were low in all the groups, and no statistically significant differences were found. Simple Summary: Studies of genetic predisposition to renal cell carcinoma (RCC) have been highly variable in design and have reported similarly highly variable rates of cases identified as carrying pathogenic variants in cancer susceptibility genes (4–26%). The aim of our study was to conduct a population-based study of genetic predisposition to RCC. We conducted a 21-gene panel sequencing study and identified that 18/1029 participants (1.7%) carried a pathogenic or likely pathogenic (PLP) variant. Genes with PLP variants included BAP1, FH, FLCN, MITF, MSH6, SDHB, TSC1, and VHL. This study provides further evidence that family history alone may not be sufficient for identifying all individuals who are at increased genetic risk of renal cell carcinoma, and further research is urgently needed to understand how to target genetic testing to identify those at high genetic risk of kidney cancer. Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has been associated with germline pathogenic or likely pathogenic (PLP) variants in recognised cancer susceptibility genes. Studies of RCC using gene panel sequencing have been highly variable in terms of study design, genes included, and reported prevalence of PLP variant carriers (4–26%). Studies that restricted their analysis to established RCC predisposition genes identified variants in 1–6% of cases. This work assessed the prevalence of clinically actionable PLP variants in renal cancer predisposition genes in an Australian population-based sample of RCC cases. Germline DNA from 1029 individuals diagnosed with RCC who were recruited through the Victoria and Queensland cancer registries were screened using a custom amplicon-based panel of 21 genes. Mean age at cancer diagnosis was 60 ± 10 years, and two-thirds (690, 67%) of the participants were men. Eighteen participants (1.7%) were found to carry a PLP variant. Genes with PLP variants included BAP1, FH, FLCN, MITF, MSH6, SDHB, TSC1, and VHL. Most carriers of PLP variants did not report a family history of the disease. Simple Summary: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common causes of death worldwide. Today, this disease does not have an effective treatment, leading to the exploration of novel pharmacological molecules. In this paper, we design and synthesize with a new synthetic route the lipophilic cation derived from gallic acid (TPP+C10) and gentisic acid (GA-TPP+C10), both able to reach mitochondria and uncouple the electron transport chain. Our results show that combining 5-fluorouracil with GA-TPP+C10 has a synergistic cytotoxic effect on CRC cells. Both compounds show antimigratory effects, decreasing signaling pathways and biomarkers. Our results show that mitochondrial agents could be an alternative to standard CRC drugs against this disease. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third leading cause of cancer deaths in the world. Standard drugs currently used for the treatment of advanced CRC—such as 5-fluorouracil (5FU)—remain unsatisfactory in their results due to their high toxicity, high resistance, and adverse effects. In recent years, mitochondria have become an attractive target for cancer therapy due to higher transmembrane mitochondrial potential. We synthesized gallic acid derivatives linked to a ten-carbon aliphatic chain associated with triphenylphosphonium (TPP+C10), a lipophilic cationic molecule that induces the uncoupling of the electron transport chain (ETC). Other derivatives, such as gentisic acid (GA-TPP+C10), have the same effects on colorectal cancer cells. Although part of our group had previously reported preparing these structures by a convergent synthesis route, including their application via flow chemistry, there was no precedent for a new methodology for preparing these compounds. In this scenario, this study aims to develop a new linear synthesis strategy involving an essential step of Steglich esterification under mild conditions (open flask) and a high degree of reproducibility. Moreover, the study seeks to associate GA-TPP+C10 with 5FU to evaluate synergistic antineoplastic effects. In addition, we assess the antimigratory effect of GA-TPP+C10 and TPP+C10 using human and mouse metastatic CRC cell lines. The results show a new and efficient synthesis route of these compounds, having synergistic effects in combination with 5FU, increasing apoptosis and enhancing cytotoxic properties. Additionally, the results show a robust antimigratory effect of GATPP+C10 and TPP+C10, reducing the activation pathways linked to tumor progression and reducing the expression of VEGF and MMP-2 and MMP-9, common biomarkers of advanced CRC. Moreover, TPP+C10 and GA-TPP+C10 increase the activity of metabolic signaling pathways through AMPK activation. The data allow us to conclude that these compounds can be used for in vivo evaluations and are a promising alternative associated with conventional therapies for advanced colorectal cancer. Simple Summary: Total thyroidectomy and dissection of cervical lymph node compartments, depending on serum calcitonin levels and ultrasound findings, is standard treatment for patients with medullary thyroid cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether pre-operative calcitonin and CEA levels can be useful as biomarkers of the extent of lymph node metastases at diagnosis. Results indicate that pre-operative serum calcitonin and CEA levels can predict presence, number, and site of lymph node metastases and, more specifically, values of 90 pg/mL for calcitonin and 17 ng/mL for CEA accurately indicate the N1b status. Since surgery is the only curative treatment for medullary thyroid cancer and there is not a strong indication regarding the extent of lymphadenectomy, these findings may help in the choice of the extent of neck dissection. Background: In medullary thyroid cancer (MTC), lymph node metastases are often present at diagnosis and the extent of surgery is usually based upon pre-operative calcitonin and CEA levels as well as ultrasound findings. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of pre-operative calcitonin and CEA levels as predictive markers of the burden of lymph node metastases at diagnosis. Methods: we conducted a retrospective study analyzing 87 MTC patients. Results: The median levels of calcitonin and CEA were 88.4 pg/mL and 7.0 ng/mL, respectively, in patients with no lymph nodes metastases; 108.0 pg/mL and 9.6 ng/mL, respectively, in patients with metastases to 1–5 lymph nodes; 520.5 pg/mL and 43.2 ng/mL, respectively, in patients with metastases to >5 lymph nodes. There were no significant differences in pre-operative calcitonin and CEA values between N0 and N1a patients, whereas they were significantly higher in N1b patients. Pre-operative cut-off levels distinguishing N0/N1a from N1b patients were 90 pg/mL for calcitonin (sensitivity 100%, specificity 59.3%, AUC = 0.82) and 17 ng/mL for CEA (sensitivity 100%, specificity 75%, AUC = 0.89). Simple Summary: Placental allograft tissue has been extensively used in wound healing. It can also be placed along the neurovascular bundles during radical prostatectomy to improve post-operative continence and erectile function recovery. The existing literature shows how placental allografts lead to improved functional recovery after radical prostatectomy. It is unknown whether these allografts have an impact on biochemical recurrence (BCR). Our study was a single surgeon retrospective review of 362 radical prostatectomy cases. The subgroups were the negative control group and two brands of cryopreserved amniotic membrane (CAM). Our data show improved continence recovery using CAM allografts. At a median follow-up of 41 months, there was no observed impact of BCR. Interestingly, in vitro analysis also revealed decreased cell viability of prostate cancer cell lines when incubated with the CAM allograft. Although further investigation is required, our data do not support a need for oncologic concern while using CAM allografts during radical prostatectomy. Background: Human placental allografts are widely used to promote wound healing. Placental (or amniotic membrane/umbilical cord) allografts are placed along the neurovascular bundles during radical prostatectomy to improve continence and erectile function recovery. It is unknown whether placental allografts impact biochemical recurrence (BCR). Methods: This was a single-surgeon retrospective study of 566 robotic radical prostatectomies performed from April 2015 to March 2021. The patients were divided into three groups: the negative control, Brand A, and Brand B. Brand A and Brand B were both cryopreserved amniotic membrane (CAM) allografts. A total of 324 cases were included for BCR Kaplan–Meier and risk-adjusted multivariate analyses (362 for continence analysis). In vitro analyses were performed to determine the effect of CAM allografts on prostate cancer (PCa) cell line growth. Results: For propensity score-matched analysis (adjusting for pre-operative PSA, tumor stage, Gleason Grade, and margin status), (1) the allograft groups did not show differences in time to BCR vs. the negative control group (p = 0.7), and (2) combined allograft treatment groups showed better continence recovery vs. the negative controls (p = 0.01). In vitro, placental allografts reduced PCa cell line growth in co-culture assays. Simple Summary: Skin diseases can be serious, and early detection is key to effective treatment. Unfortunately, the quality of images used to diagnose these diseases often suffers due to interference from hair, making accurate diagnosis challenging. This research introduces a novel technology, the DM–AHR, a self-supervised conditional diffusion model designed specifically to generate clear, hairless images for better skin disease diagnosis. Our work not only presents a new, advanced model that expertly identifies and removes hair from dermoscopic images but also introduces a specialized dataset, DERMAHAIR, to further research and improve diagnostic processes. The enhancements in image quality provided by DM–AHR significantly improve the accuracy of skin disease diagnoses, and it promises to be a valuable tool in medical imaging. Accurate skin diagnosis through end-user applications is important for early detection and cure of severe skin diseases. However, the low quality of dermoscopic images hampers this mission, especially with the presence of hair on these kinds of images. This paper introduces DM–AHR, a novel, self-supervised conditional diffusion model designed specifically for the automatic generation of hairless dermoscopic images to improve the quality of skin diagnosis applications. The current research contributes in three significant ways to the field of dermatologic imaging. First, we develop a customized diffusion model that adeptly differentiates between hair and skin features. Second, we pioneer a novel self-supervised learning strategy that is specifically tailored to optimize performance for hairless imaging. Third, we introduce a new dataset, named DERMAHAIR (DERMatologic Automatic HAIR Removal Dataset), that is designed to advance and benchmark research in this specialized domain. These contributions significantly enhance the clarity of dermoscopic images, improving the accuracy of skin diagnosis procedures. We elaborate on the architecture of DM–AHR and demonstrate its effective performance in removing hair while preserving critical details of skin lesions. Our results show an enhancement in the accuracy of skin lesion analysis when compared to existing techniques. Simple Summary: T regulatory cells are specialized lymphocytes that prevent excessive immune responses, yet they can suppress beneficial anti-tumor immunity when infiltrating malignant tumors. Osteopontin, a versatile protein produced by various cells, including T lymphocytes, influences both inflammation-related diseases and cancer immunity. Its role in T regulatory cells, however, remains less explored. Our study examined the impact of osteopontin deficiency on T regulatory cells. We generated mice lacking osteopontin in these cells and observed impaired immune suppression capabilities, which resulted in increased tumor-fighting activity against melanoma. These findings emphasize osteopontin's crucial role in T regulatory cell stability and functionality within the tumor microenvironment, providing valuable insights for developing new immunotherapeutic strategies. Foxp3-expressing regulatory T (Treg) cells represent the most highly immunosuppressive cell in the tumor microenvironment (TME) that halts effective anti-tumor immunity. Osteopontin (Opn), an extracellular matrix (ECM) glycophosphoprotein, plays key roles in many types of immune-related diseases and is associated with cancer aggressiveness when expressed by tumor cells. However, its role in Foxp3Treg heterogeneity, function, and stability in the TME is poorly defined. We generated mice with a Foxp3-specific deletion of Opn and assessed the ability of Opn-deficient Tregs to suppress inflammation. As these mice aged, they developed a scurfy-like syndrome characterized by aberrant and excessive activation of effector T cells. We evaluated and further confirmed the reduced suppressive capacity of Opn-deficient Tregs in an in vivo suppression assay of colitis. We also found that mice with Opn-deficient Foxp3+ Tregs have enhanced anti-tumor immunity and reduced tumor burden, associated with an unstable Treg phenotype, paralleled by reduced Foxp3 expression in tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes. Finally, we observed reduced Foxp3 and Helios expression in Opn-deficient Tregs compared to wild-type controls after in vitro activation. Our findings indicate that targeting Opn in Tregs reveals vigorous and effective ways of promoting Treg instability and dysfunction in the TME, facilitating anti-tumor immunity. Simple Summary: Postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy generally improves survival in patients with breast cancer. However, adjuvant chemotherapy does not benefit all patients. There are considerations and guidelines that guide us as to whether or not chemotherapy is recommended to a particular patient. The decision is based on clinicopathologic features and may be aided by multigene assays. The Oncotype DX test is used worldwide. It makes the recommendation more accurate; however, there are possibilities to refine the process to make a more accurate decision. We investigated how we could move forward in recommending adjuvant chemotherapy. Background: The use of the Oncotype DX test reduces the rate of adjuvant chemotherapy recommendations. Few in-depth analyses have been performed on this decision-making process. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed patient data based on available Oncotype DX test results (RS) irrespective of nodal status at a single center. We collected recommendations from six oncologists, first without RS (pre-RS) and then with RS results (post-RS). We investigated changes in recommendations, agreement between oncologist decisions, and the effect of different National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) recommendation categories (for, against, and considering chemotherapy). Results: Data from 201 patients were included in the analysis. Recommendation of chemotherapy decreased by an average of 39.5%. Agreement improved substantially with RS, with a kappa value pre-RS of 0.37 (fair agreement) and post-RS of 0.75 (substantial agreement). Discordance remained substantial in cases where the NCCN recommendations considered chemotherapy only (32%). Pre-RS consensus against chemotherapy predicted low RS results (50 out of 51 patients). Post-RS consensus was highest in the NCCN chemotherapy recommendation group. Conclusions: The Oncotype DX test substantially improves decision accuracy in recommending adjuvant chemotherapy. Simple Summary: Somatostatin analogs like lanreotide are considered first-line agents for the treatment of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (NET). We used a double-pronged approach to understand the role of lanreotide in immune system regulation in healthy donor T cells in vitro as well as in vivo in cells obtained from 17 NET patients. We looked at cytokine signaling and differential gene expression to elucidate lanreotide's role in the treatment of NET through additional novel immune pathways. The CLARINET trial led to the approval of lanreotide for the treatment of patients with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). It is hypothesized that lanreotide regulates proliferation, hormone synthesis, and other cellular functions via binding to somatostatin receptors (SSTR1–5) present in NETs. However, our knowledge of how lanreotide affects the immune system is limited. In vitro studies have investigated functional immune response parameters with lanreotide treatment in healthy donor T cell subsets, encompassing the breadth of SSTR expression, apoptosis induction, cytokine production, and activity of transcription factor signaling pathways. In our study, we characterized in vitro immune mechanisms in healthy donor T cells in response to lanreotide. We also studied the in vivo effects by looking at differential gene expression pre- and post-lanreotide therapy in patients with NET. Immune-focused gene and protein expression profiling was performed on peripheral blood samples from 17 NET patients and correlated with clinical response. In vivo, lanreotide therapy showed reduced effects on wnt, T cell receptor (TCR), and nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-kB) signaling in CD8+ T cells in responders compared to non-responders. Compared to non-responders, responders showed reduced effects on cytokine and chemokine signaling but greater effects on ubiquitination and proteasome degradation genes. Our results suggest significant lanreotide pharmacodynamic effects on immune function in vivo, which correlate with responses in NET patients. This is not evident from experimental in vitro settings. Simple Summary: This pilot study aims to identify the physical, mental, social, psychological, and health needs encountered by cancer survivors in order to propose and facilitate appropriate and tailored responses. To the best of our knowledge, this is one of the first multidimensional studies investigating this topic in Italy. Data show that the quality of life of cancer survivors is affected by cancer and its treatment, reporting more frailties than the general population, especially those over 65 years old. These findings could help develop multidisciplinary planning of survivorship care for the transition of patients from oncological management to primary healthcare. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study on breast or colorectal cancer survivors (people 5+ years free from it and its treatments) using an ad hoc survey including validated questionnaires (Grauer–Palombi, SF-36, PREDIMED). Participants were recruited within the Oncology Unit of the "Policlinico Tor Vergata", Italy. Results: A total of 62 patients (80.6% females; years range: 37–87) agreed to be interviewed. A profile of cancer survivors was drafted: an overaged person with multiple co-morbidities, not well-nourished, adhering to the Mediterranean diet, reporting critical conditions as for physical and functional status. The mean number of co-morbidities was 3.6 ± 2.4 SD, with a statistically significant difference between age groups (under and over 65). Compared to the general population, the sample showed more frailties, especially when >65. The risk of having multimorbidity (four or more co-morbidities) significantly increased in those over 65 (OR: 4.72; CI: 1.43–15.59). Conclusion: There is an urgent need for survivorship care planning for the patient-centered continuum of care. Simple Summary: Germline mutation rates and spectra across three cohorts of Chinese patients: a high-risk breast cancer cohort, an unselected breast cancer cohort, and a benign breast lesion cohort were compared. The high-risk cohort had the highest mutation rate at 11.9%, while the unselected cancer and benign lesion cohorts had rates of 6.5% and 8.1%, respectively. Notably, 29.3% of the unselected breast cancer patients met genetic testing criteria, and this subgroup had a mutation rate similar to the high-risk cohort. High-penetrance gene mutations were only found in the high-risk and unselected cancer cohorts. Unexpectedly, a 2% mutation rate was observed in the benign lesion cohort. These findings highlight the need for broader genetic testing of all breast cancer patients, not just those deemed high-risk, to identify more individuals harboring clinically relevant germline mutations. Mutation study for high-risk breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC) has been extensively studied in patients of different ethnicities. Here we compared the germline mutation rate and mutation spectrum of patients (n = 4341) with benign breast diseases or breast cancers, with and without other risk factors. Three cohorts of Chinese patients were recruited. The first cohort, high-risk cohort (HR, n = 3935) included high-risk breast cancer patients fulfilling high-risk HBOC criteria and who are recruited at our genetics clinic. The second cohort, unselected cancer cohort (CC, n = 307) was from general recruitment of patients with breast cancer at breast surgery clinics. The third cohort, benign breast lesion cohort (NC, n = 99) comprised 99 patients with benign breast diseases such as fibroadenoma, fibroadenomatoid hyperplasia, and intraductal papilloma. Thirty HBOC related genes were sequenced on the above-mentioned patient cohorts. The germline mutation rates of HR, CC, and NC cohort were 11.9%, 6.5%, and 8.1%, respectively. In the CC cohort, 29.3% (90/307) of patients fulfilled the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) high-risk genetic test criteria 2022 v.2. The mutation rate for this group of patients was 11.1%, similar to that of the HR cohort, while the mutation rate for those not fulfilling testing criteria was 4.6%, like that of the NC cohort. High penetrance genes (BRCA1/2, CDH1, PALB2, PTEN, and TP53) mutations were only found in the HR (10.6%) and CC (3.3%) cohorts but were not found in the NC cohort. ATM, BRIP1, RAD51C, and RAD51D mutations were identified in all cohorts. RAD51C and RAD51D mutations showed conflicting penetrance. An unexpectedly high mutation rate of total 2% was found in the NC cohort but it was only 0.3% and 0.5% in the HR cohort and CC cohort, respectively. Background: The disparities in healthcare access due to varying insurance coverage significantly impact hospital outcomes, yet what is unclear is the role of insurance in providing care once the patient is in the hospital for a preventable admission, particularly in a weak gatekeeping environment. This study aimed to investigate the association between insurance types and readmission rates, healthcare expenditures, and length of hospital stay among patients with chronic ambulatory care sensitive conditions (ACSCs) in China. Methods: This retrospective observational study utilized hospitalization data collected from the Nanhai District, Foshan City, between 2016 and 2020. Generalized linear models (GLMs) were employed to analyze the relationship between medical insurance types and readmission rates, lengths of hospital stay, total medical expenses, out-of-pocket expenses, and insurance-covered expenses. Results: A total of 185,384 records were included. Among these, the participants covered by urban employee basic medical insurance (UEBMI) with 44,415 records and urban and rural resident basic medical insurance (URRBMI) with 80,752 records generally experienced more favorable outcomes compared to self-pay patients. Specifically, they had lower readmission rates (OR = 0.57, 95% CI: 0.36 to 0.90; OR = 0.59, 95% CI: 0.42 to 0.84) and reduced out-of-pocket expenses (β = −0.54, 95% CI: −0.94 to −0.14; β = −0.41, 95% CI: −0.78 to −0.05). However, they also experienced slightly longer lengths of hospital stay (IRR = 1.08, 95% CI: 1.03 to 1.14; IRR = 1.11, 95% CI: 1.04 to 1.18) and higher total medical expenses (β = 0.26, 95% CI: 0.09 to 0.44; β = 0.25, 95% CI: 0.10 to 0.40). Conclusions: This study found that different types of health insurance were associated with varying clinical outcomes among patients with chronic ambulatory care sensitive conditions (ACSCs) in China. Since the hospitalization of these patients was initially avoidable, disparities in readmission rates, lengths of hospital stay, and medical expenses among avoidable inpatient cases exacerbated the health gap between different insurance types. Climate change threatens environmental stability and human health, with limited research on younger children's perceptions. This study examines Italian primary school children's views on climate change to guide educational and policy strategies. Surveying 973 children (5–11 years) from different regions, findings showed high awareness (93%) and concern (63%) about climate change. Regional differences indicated greater concern in the south. Gender disparities revealed females were more concerned and experienced more sleep difficulties. Younger children had stronger emotional responses, while older ones showed increased pro-environmental behaviors. Despite moderate self-confidence in effecting change, a strong sense of responsibility and trust in adults was prevalent. These results highlight the need for early, continuous climate education tailored to regional, age, and gender-specific needs. Celiac disease (CD) is a chronic gastrointestinal disorder that is most frequently found in Western countries, and the only treatment available today is a lifelong gluten-free diet (GFD). The main aim of the present study is to compare the self-care practices and body mass index (BMI) of adolescents with CD and without CD in different dimensions (physical, psychological, social, and management). The non-probabilistic sample included 236 participants (118 with CD) aged between 12 and 16 years old, who were part of the project "Role of the family in the perception of youth self-care". The data were obtained through the self-administration of the Practice and Management of Youth Self-care questionnaire, while the celiac population also completed the Adherence to a Gluten-Free Diet (GFD) questionnaire. The celiac population analyzed showed significant correlations between the Physical Practices and Management with adherence to a GFD, and between a GFD and Psychological Practices. Differences were observed between the celiac and the non-celiac populations in the dimensions of Physical Practices, Social Practices, and Management. With respect to BMI, age and CD showed a significant influence of a GFD on BMI (p < 0.001). In conclusion, the application of multi-dimensional questionnaires and their relationship with the adherence to a GFD provide valuable information to propose interventions directed to this population. Myasthenia gravis (MG) patients often require long-term glucocorticoid therapy, which may affect bone health. This study aimed to assess long-term changes in bone mineral density (BMD), evaluate osteoporotic fracture incidence, and examine the relationship between MG-specific factors and bone health outcomes over a 10-year period. This single-center, prospective cohort study included 28 MG patients. BMD, T-scores, Z-scores, and bone turnover markers were measured at baseline. FRAX® scores were calculated and adjusted for glucocorticoid dose. Fracture occurrence was monitored for over 10 years. Five (17.9%) patients experienced major osteoporotic fractures during follow-up. The fracture group had significantly lower baseline BMD and T-scores than the no-fracture group. Baseline FRAX® scores for major osteoporotic fracture risk were significantly higher in the fracture group (median 19.0% vs. 5.7%, p = 0.001). The fracture group progressed from osteopenia at baseline to osteoporosis by the end of this study. This study highlights the importance of early and regular bone health assessments in MG patients, particularly those receiving long-term glucocorticoid therapy. The FRAX® tool may be valuable for fracture risk stratification in this population. Background: The roles of both parents' and children's educational expectations in shaping adolescent depressive symptoms have increasingly been discussed, yet in a separate manner. To date, few studies have associated parent–child mismatch in educational expectations with depressive symptoms, and less is known about the variation in the association across gender (male vs. female), educational level (primary vs. secondary), and region status (urban vs. rural) in the Chinese educational setting. Methods: Respondents were from a nationally representative sample of adolescent students in China (sample size: 1844; age range: 10–15 years). Parent–child mismatch in educational expectations included three categories: (1) "match", (2) "mismatch—parent higher", and (3) "mismatch—parent lower". Regression analysis with inverse propensity-score weighting was employed to estimate the effect of parent–child mismatch as to educational expectations on depressive symptoms, and stratified analysis was used to examine the variation of the effect by gender, educational level, and region. Results: Compared with the "match" group, the "mismatch—parent higher" group had significantly higher levels of depressive symptoms. Furthermore, the pattern remained consistent between boys and girls, but differed significantly by adolescents' educational level and region status. Specifically, the pattern was more pronounced in the primary school and urban subsamples. Conclusions: Findings in this study indicated that educators and policymakers can develop tailored strategies to alleviate depressive symptoms among the "mismatch—parent higher" group, and especially for those children from primary schools and urban areas. Hip Disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Survey (HOOS) was developed as a region- and disease-specific outcome to assess hip disability. Despite the use of the HOOS in clinical practice and research, psychometric analyses of the scale in a large dataset of patients have not been performed. As such, the purposes of this study were to assess the structural validity of the HOOS in patients who underwent a total hip arthroplasty. Data were obtained from the Surgical Outcome System (SOS) global registry. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted to assess the scale structure of the 40-item HOOS and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted to identify a parsimonious scale structure. The parsimonious model identified was subjected to multi-group and longitudinal invariance testing and LGC modeling. The original five-factor, 40-item HOOS did not meet recommended model fit indices values (CFI = 0.822, TLI = 0.809, IFI = 0.822, RMSEA = 0.085). Alternate model generation identified an alternative model (i.e., HOOS-9). Sound model fit was identified for the HOOS-9 (CFI = 0.974, TLI = 0.961, RMSEA = 0.046). Invariance testing criteria were also met between groups (i.e., age and sex) and across time. Lastly, a nonlinear growth trajectory was identified in responses pertaining to hip disability. The original scale structure of the 40-item HOOS was not supported. The HOOS-9 met contemporary model fit recommendations, along with multi-group and longitudinal invariance testing. Background: Healthcare professionals frequently encounter various forms of aggression, ranging from verbal abuse to physical assaults, which can compromise both their occupational well-being and patient-care quality. Despite its prevalence and serious consequences, workplace aggression is often underreported due to a lack of standardized assessment tools. This study aims to develop a valid Italian version of the Hospital Aggressive Behaviour Scale-Users. Methods: The scale's structure was evaluated using exploratory (EFA) and confirmatory (CFA) factor analyses on two samples of healthcare professionals during and after the pandemic. Reliability, measurement invariance, and nomological validity were examined. Results: EFA revealed a two-factor structure comprising eight items (χ2 = 59.651, df = 13, p = 0.00; CFI = 0.98; TLI = 0.95; RMSEA = 0.07; SRMR = 0.02), distinguishing non-physical and physical aggression, and meeting all recommended criteria. CFA confirmed this structure, demonstrating good reliability and outperforming alternative models. The same factor structure was confirmed in standard (χ2 = 35.01, df = 19, p = 0.00; CFI = 0.99; TLI = 0.99; RMSEA = 0.03; SRMR = 0.02) and emergency (χ2 = 30.65, df = 19, p = 0.04; CFI = 0.98; TLI = 0.97; RMSEA = 0.06; SRMR = 0.04) contexts. Full residual invariance was found across job tenure groups. Aggression was positively associated with emotional exhaustion, psychological distance, psychosomatic symptoms, post-traumatic stress symptoms, and turnover intentions while negatively related to job satisfaction. Nurses and healthcare assistants reported higher levels of aggression than doctors. Conclusions: This study provides a reliable, context-specific instrument for documenting and analysing outsider aggression. Background: To manage pain and stiffness of the lumbar spine, thrust manipulation is commonly used. High-velocity, small-amplitude thrust manipulation often elicits audible sounds. What causes this audible sound remains unclear, and its clinical significance has not been shown. This study aimed to identify how audible sound affects brainwave activity following a side-lying right rotatory thrust manipulation in a group of healthy individuals. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental repeated measures study design in which 44 subjects completed the study protocol. A portable Bluetooth EEG device was used to capture brainwave activity. The environment was controlled during testing to minimize any factors influencing the acquisition of real-time EEG data. After a short accommodation period, initial brainwaves were measured. Following this, each subject underwent a lumbar 4–5 side-lying right rotatory thrust manipulation, immediately followed by a second brainwave measurement. A third measurement took place one minute later, followed by a fourth one at the three-minute mark. Results: 21 subjects did not experience audible sounds, while 23 subjects experienced audible sounds. Both groups had significant changes measured by the 14 electrodes (p < 0.05). The audible group had more significant changes, which lasted only two minutes. Conclusion: The lack of brainwave response differences between the audible and non-audible groups implies no direct, measurable placebo or beneficial effect from the audible sound. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and illustrate the effectiveness of a specialized digital platform developed to improve the accuracy of medical coding during the full implementation of Greece's new DRG system, and to highlight innovative actions for achieving and/or improving accurate medical coding. Already grouped DRG cases recorded in the first DRG implementation year in the region of Crete were examined. A sample of 133,922 cases was analyzed and audited, through a process consisting of three stages: (i) digitalization, (ii) auditor training, and (iii) control and consultation. The results indicated that a significant proportion of DRG coding, with a length of stay exceeding one day, was reclassified into different DRG categories. This reclassification was primarily due to coding errors—such as the omission of secondary diagnoses, exclusion of necessary medical procedures, and the use of less specific codes—rather than mistakes in selecting the principal diagnosis. The study underscores the importance of medical coding control and consulting services. It demonstrates that targeted actions in these areas can significantly enhance the implementation of the DRG coding system. Accurate medical coding is crucial for transparent allocation of resources within hospitals, ensuring that hospital services and reimbursements are appropriately managed and allocated based on the true complexity and needs of patient cases. The widespread implementation of artificial intelligence technologies provides an appealing alternative to traditional search engines for online patient healthcare education. This study assessed ChatGPT-3.5's capabilities as a source of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) information, using Google Search as a comparison. Ten frequently searched questions related to OSA were entered into Google Search and ChatGPT-3.5. The responses were assessed by two independent researchers using the Global Quality Score (GQS), Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool (PEMAT), DISCERN instrument, CLEAR tool, and readability scores (Flesch Reading Ease and Flesch–Kincaid Grade Level). ChatGPT-3.5 significantly outperformed Google Search in terms of GQS (5.00 vs. 2.50, p < 0.0001), DISCERN reliability (35.00 vs. 29.50, p = 0.001), and quality (11.50 vs. 7.00, p = 0.02). The CLEAR tool scores indicated that ChatGPT-3.5 provided excellent content (25.00 vs. 15.50, p < 0.001). PEMAT scores showed higher understandability (60–91% vs. 44–80%) and actionability for ChatGPT-3.5 (0–40% vs. 0%). Readability analysis revealed that Google Search responses were easier to read (FRE: 56.05 vs. 22.00; FKGL: 9.00 vs. 14.00, p < 0.0001). ChatGPT-3.5 delivers higher quality and more comprehensive OSA information compared to Google Search, although its responses are less readable. This suggests that while ChatGPT-3.5 can be a valuable tool for patient education, efforts to improve readability are necessary to ensure accessibility and utility for all patients. Healthcare providers should be aware of the strengths and weaknesses of various healthcare information resources and emphasize the importance of critically evaluating online health information, advising patients on its reliability and relevance. Background: Acupuncture is frequently used to manage pediatric cerebral palsy (CP), yet updated evidence is needed to guide future research and clinical practice. Methods: Seven databases were searched from 1994 to 26 June 2023. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving body, scalp, or ear acupuncture for managing CP, excluding acupoint injection, catgut embedding, electro-acupuncture, or laser acupuncture, were included. Results: Twenty RCTs with 1797 participants were analyzed. Acupuncture groups had better improvements in gross motor function measure (GMFM) scores by 5% (mean difference: 5.93, 95% CI: 3.67–8.19, p < 0.001, I2 = 57%); a 16% higher probability to yield prominent improvement in effectiveness rate (ER) (risk ratio: 1.16, 95% CI: 1.08–1.25, p < 0.001, I2 = 0%); and better outcomes in the Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) (standardized mean difference [SMD]: 0.3, 95%, CI: 0.11–0.49, p < 0.001, I2 = 0%), the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) (SMD: 2.48; 95% CI: 2.00–2.97, p < 0.001, I2 = 72%) and ADL (SMD: 1.66; 95% CI: 1.23–2.08, p < 0.001, I2 = 91%). Studies with eight core acupoints identified from all ninety-five acupoints had better ER. This study aimed to confirm the mediating effects of symptom experiences on the relationship between the body image and quality of life of hemodialysis patients. Data were collected from 153 patients who were diagnosed with ESRD at a tertiary general hospital and receiving regular hemodialysis in Korea. The data were collected between 20 July and 11 August 2023. The following statistical analyses were conducted: t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis, and Hayes' Process Macro Model 4 (to test the mediating effect). The factors influencing quality of life were body image (β = 0.46, p < 0.001), monthly family income (over KRW 3 million) (β = 0.22, p = 0.002), and symptom experiences (β = −0.20, p = 0.001). The mediation analysis indicated that the symptom experiences mediated the relationship between body image and quality of life. Based on the results, education, counseling, and symptom management programs that can improve body image and reduce symptom experience should be developed, and customized programs that reflect the characteristics of a target population, such as economic level, should be developed and provided. Muscle imbalances in the upper body can lead to ineffective movement patterns and potential injury. The purpose of this study was to investigate the muscle activity, impact, and muscle activation ratio of the serratus anterior (SA), upper trapezius (UT), lower trapezius (LT), and pectoralis major (PM) during the knee push-up plus (KPUP) exercise under various loads. Method: Electromyography assessed scapular muscle activity in 32 healthy adults (15 males, 17 females) during three KPUP variations. Results: PM and UT showed no significant activity differences across loads, whereas SA and LT did. SA activity was significantly higher in the weighted KPUP (WKPUP) 3 kg than that in KPUP and WKPUP 1 kg. LT activity was also significantly higher in WKPUP 3 kg compared to KPUP and WKPUP 1 kg, with KPUP showing higher activity than WKPUP 1 kg. PM/SA ratios remained consistent across loads, while UT/LT ratios varied significantly, being notably lower at 3 kg compared to 0 kg and 1 kg. Similarly, UT/SA ratios differed significantly among loads, being notably lower at 3 kg and 1 kg compared to 0 kg. Conclusion: WKPUP with 3 kg demonstrated significantly higher SA and LT activity compared to KPUP and WKPUP 1 kg. The lowest UT/LT ratio was observed during the WKPUP 3 kg, suggesting its effectiveness for optimizing muscle activation balance during KPUP exercises. Exposure to harmful biological agents and the level of knowledge about specific risk factors are extremely important topics, especially among military personnel. This study evaluates the knowledge and perceptions of soldiers regarding exposure to biological risk factors during their service. This research was conducted using an online survey distributed through the WBBS research panel, in which 1331 soldiers from various demographic groups and ranks participated. The survey assessed awareness of biological threats, the level of knowledge about preventive measures, and the perceived adequacy of occupational health and safety training. The findings reveal that over 80% of respondents possess some level of knowledge about the types of biological agents they may encounter, yet significant gaps remain, particularly in training related to region-specific infectious diseases, with more than 75% of participants having not received such training. Additionally, approximately 5% of respondents reported high exposure, and around 4% reported very high exposure to harmful biological agents, highlighting the need for enhanced educational programs and preventive measures in military contexts. Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common disorder associated with major cardiovascular and neurocognitive sequelae. Methods: We enrolled patients who were diagnosed with OSA during the COVID-19 pandemic. Adherence was defined as CPAP use ≥4 h per night on ≥70% of nights over 30 consecutive days. Patient demographics were retrieved from medical records, and CPAP adherence at 6 months and 1 year after initiation was monitored. Results: Overall, 107 patients were included in the analysis. A number of 73 (68%) and 63 (59%) patients were adherent to CPAP treatment at 6 months and 12 months accordingly. Among the factors examined and analyzed (age, gender, BMI, Apnea–Hypopnea Index (AHI)), no significant correlation was found. Further analysis revealed the potential role of comorbidities. CPAP compliance at 6 months was shown to be associated with better CPAP adherence at 12 months. Conclusions: CPAP adherence at 6 months is correlated to long-term adherence to treatment. Black women continue to be disproportionally burdened by HIV. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is an effective HIV prevention option, which is underused by Black women. While social network interventions (SNIs) have been widely researched and implemented among some groups vulnerable to HIV, little is known about social network characteristics among Black women. To learn more about the social networks of Black women vulnerable to HIV and their knowledge of and interest in PrEP, we conducted a cross-sectional survey among 109 Black women aged 18–45 years attending a family planning clinic in Chicago, Illinois. In our study, 44% of women reported that they were moderately to extremely concerned about HIV. Over half of participants (53%) had a small personal network size (i.e., less than two). No statistically significant associations between having larger network sizes and having previously heard of PrEP, having an interest in starting PrEP, or having good PrEP knowledge were detected. Open-ended responses revealed high levels of trust in network connections with matters related to sexual health. Additionally, nearly all (94%) of women reported that SNIs were a good idea to promote PrEP. Background: Current clinical guidelines support family-centered care in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs). This implies parents should also be involved in the most critical patient safety measures. Hand hygiene is the single most important tool to prevent healthcare-associated infections and related long-term effects. Although often studied in healthcare workers, the hand hygiene compliance of parents is rarely assessed. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational video, available in ten different languages, in teaching parents hand hygiene techniques in a NICU, lowering the burden on the staff. Methods: Parents in the intervention group were educated through a video; the control group received personal instruction from healthcare workers. The primary outcome parameter was the predicted probability of passing a subsequent hand scan. Results: The quality of hand hygiene among parents educated through the video was at least as good as that of those who received instruction from a healthcare worker, demonstrated by a higher predicted probability of passing the hand scan (43.8% vs. 57.1% in male and 67.9% vs. 75.9% in female participants). The feedback from the intervention group was predominantly positive, with most parents (62%) expressing a preference for video-based education. Conclusion: Implementing a video-based approach seems to be effective for educating parents about hand hygiene in a NICU and was well accepted by the parents. This method offers a consistent standard of hand hygiene education, helps to overcome language barriers, and can also be used as regular reminder of the importance and proper technique of hand hygiene. This study evaluated the level of knowledge among parents in Jazan, Saudi Arabia, regarding substances that can harm child development. The Prevention of Toxic Chemicals in the Environment for Children Tool (PRoTECT) was used for this assessment. A cross-sectional survey using a multi-stage cluster random sampling approach was undertaken among 424 parents who were enlisted from eight primary healthcare centers (PHCCs). The PRoTECT score's median value was 72 out of 90, suggesting a generally high level of awareness. The study found that individuals with higher education, particularly those with postgraduate degrees, had greater awareness of protecting their children's health. Interestingly, unemployed individuals and those residing in mountainous areas also demonstrated higher awareness, possibly due to having more time to focus on their children's health and well-being. Most participants (68.2%) acknowledged the correlation between exposure to toxic chemicals during pregnancy and early childhood, and the subsequent development of neurodevelopmental disorders. The study found a solid foundation of knowledge, with 85.1% of participants interested in learning more about reducing children's exposure, but it also stressed the need for specific actions to turn awareness into prevention. These findings would help policymakers develop effective strategies, such as targeted educational campaigns, collaboration with healthcare providers, utilization of media channels, and encouragement of community-led initiatives, to reduce children's exposure to developmental toxicants in line with national and global environmental health initiatives. Introduction: Adolescence is a critical period for the development of affectivity and sexuality. Adolescents begin to explore their sexual identities, form intimate relationships, and learn to manage their emotions in new and complex contexts. This study aims to analyze the prevalence of habits and behaviors related to the affective–sexual health of adolescents in the fourth year of ESO, identifying risk factors, comparing their behaviors and risks, monitoring these behaviors, analyzing their pornography consumption, and evaluating the use of the internet as a source of sexual information. Method: Descriptive cross-sectional study using questionnaires. Participants are fourth-year ESO students from a school in the Baix Llobregat province (Catalonia), aged between 14 and 18 years. Descriptive and bivariate statistical analyses are conducted using the chi-square test and p-value calculations with the R Project software. Frequency and percentage analyses are also used to describe the health behaviors of the participants. Results: The study reveals that girls have better knowledge of the contraceptive pill and male condom than boys. Sexual initiation and condom use management vary between the genders, with girls being more capable of persuading their partners to use them. Pornography consumption also shows significant differences in terms of the age of initiation and frequency between boys and girls. Conclusions: This study on adolescent affectivity and sexuality reveals knowledge about contraceptives, early sexual initiation, and high pornography consumption, highlighting the need for early and diverse affective–sexual education, youth empowerment, and media misinformation management to promote safer and healthier behaviors within municipal public health. Background: In May 2023, Romagna, Italy, faced a devastating flood resulting in 16 fatalities, forced displacement of 26,000 citizens, and significant economic losses. Due to potential water contamination, implementing public health strategies became imperative for the Local Health Authority to mitigate the health consequences, analyze the flood's impact on the local population's health, and detect early anomalies requiring timely public health interventions. Methods: Between June and July 2023, general practitioners who were part of the RespiVirNet surveillance network completed weekly structured forms. These forms collected data on individuals exposed or not to floodwaters and clinical syndromes. Rates per 1000 resident population aged > 14 were stratified by district, week of observation, and symptomatology. Missing data were addressed by imputation using second-order autoregressive modeling. Results: An incidence of 3.52 syndromes potentially related to flood water exposure per 1000 individuals (95% CI 2.82–4.35) was estimated. Ravenna, the city most affected by the flood, recorded the highest rate (6.05 per 1000, 95% CI 4.59–7.82). Incidence decreased in the weeks post-event. Anxiety, or trauma and stress symptoms, exhibited higher rates among the exposed, diminishing over weeks. The incidence for the non-exposed (12.76 per 1000, 95% CI 10.55–15.29) showed no significant territorial differences compared to the exposed ones. Conclusions: Syndromic surveillance provided timely information on the flood's health impact, revealing a higher incidence of individual syndromes among the non-exposed. Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a life-changing event that often results in chronic physical damage and challenges in maintaining a good quality of life as it affects every aspect of life. These situations require adjustment, increasing vulnerability to psychological disorders. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of SCI on psychological morbidity in individuals with subacute and chronic SCI. The present investigation was designed to determine the presence and extent of psychological complications following SCI. We used two reliable questionnaires and validated psychological assessments to study depression (BDI) and anxiety (STAI), a broad range of factors derived from SCI that may be predictors of certain psychological problems. The psychological assessment revealed alterations in depression and anxiety, although the data do not exceed those of previous investigations. No clear predisposing factors leading to certain psychological pathologies were found. In addition, individuals in the subacute and chronic stages differed in their scores. In individuals with SCI, identifying predictors of psychological problems is difficult, but premature assessment of mental state is essential. This early diagnosis of possible problems or changes at the mental level is fundamental and necessary to avoid possible alterations at the cognitive level and, of course, more serious mental complications. Background: Lateral and medial elbow tendinopathies are common soft tissue disorders affecting 1–3% of the general population, causing significant pain and functional impairment in the elbow and upper limb. While often associated with overuse and repetitive strain, their exact etiology, including potential associations with prior injuries in adjacent joints, remains unclear. This preliminary study aims to explore the distribution of lateral and medial elbow tendinopathies and investigate the occurrence of previous lesions in adjacent joints among diagnosed individuals, providing foundational insights for future research. Methods: A multicenter cross-sectional observational study was conducted involving 90 subjects diagnosed with lateral and/or medial elbow tendinopathy. The data collection occurred during the initial consultations, including demographic information, clinical assessments, and history of prior injuries in adjacent joints. Results: Among the sample, 44.4% reported prior injuries to adjacent joints in the affected upper limb, with 45.6% of these injuries identified as musculotendinous in nature. The analysis also showed that the type of elbow tendinopathy was significantly associated with sex (p = 0.01) and occupational origin (p = 0.022). Conclusions: While a notable percentage of the subjects reported prior musculoskeletal injuries in the same limb, the study's geographic limitations and reliance on self-reported data introduce potential recall bias. These preliminary findings suggest a possible relationship between prior adjacent joint injuries and elbow tendinopathy. The highest prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors has been associated with obesity, sedentary lifestyle, and elevated blood pressure due to high workload and work stress. This study aimed to analyze the cardiometabolic risk and lifestyles among the health sciences university academics and campus administrators at a private university in Spain. A cross-sectional study was conducted during the 2018–2019 academic year by the Nursing Department, using a self-administered questionnaire and face-to-face assessments of anthropometric variables related to cardiovascular risk in university personnel. The variables measured included sociodemographics, cardiovascular risk history, comorbidities, toxic habits, Mediterranean diet adherence, physical exercise, psychosocial stress, and physical, anthropometric, and analytical data. Cardiovascular risk was categorized into relative (<40 years), absolute, and vascular age (>40 years). Among the 101 participants, 61.4% were women, with a mean age of 41.3 years ± 9 years. The smoking prevalence was 21.8% (68.2% women), 27.7% were sedentary, and 51.0% adhered to the Mediterranean diet, with higher adherence among the academics. Emotional risk was present in 32.7% of the participants. A prior diagnosis of hypertension was significantly more frequent in the men (15.4%) compared to the women (3.2%). The blood pressure measurements were mostly optimal across both genders and professional groups, but the proportion of hypertension grade 1 was significantly higher among the academics (10%) compared to the administrators (4.5%) and among the men (11.1%) compared to the women (5.9%). The absolute cardiovascular risk among the university employees was generally low, but the men exhibited a more moderate risk compared to the women. The HAGOS (Hip and Groin Outcome Score) questionnaire is a valid and reliable measure of the self-assessment of symptoms, activity limitation, participation restriction, and quality of life (Qol) of subjects with hip and/or groin pain. The aims of this study are to translate and transculturally adapt the HAGOS into Italian (HAGOS-I) and to assess its internal consistency, validity, and reliability in physically active, young, and middle-aged subjects. The translation and transcultural adaptation of (HAGOS-I) was carried out according to international guidelines. Eight-one subjects (mean age 28.19) were included in this study. All the participants completed the HAGOS-I, the Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS-I), the Oxford Hip Score (OHS-I), and the Short Form 36 Health Surveys (SF-36-I). The Cronbach's α for the six HAGOS subscales ranged from 0.63 to 0.87. Statistically significant correlations were obtained between the six HAGOS-I subscales and the LEFS-I (rs = 0.44–0.68; p < 0.01). Only one HAGOS-I subscale (Participation in Physical Activities) did not reach statistical significance with the OHS-I, while the remaining five had a moderate correlation (rs = 0.40–0.60; p < 0.01). The test–retest reliability (Intraclass Correlation Coefficient) ranged from 0.57 to 0.86 for the six HAGOS-I subscales. The HAGOS-I is a valid and reliable instrument that can be used in clinical settings with young and middle-aged subjects with hip and/or groin pathologies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Frailty is a common condition in older adults that negatively impacts health and quality of life. This study evaluated a comprehensive, personalised, and coordinated intervention under the value-based care approach to address frailty's multidimensional nature in older people in the primary care setting. It employed a pre–post randomised controlled design involving 242 frail individuals aged over 65 years living in the community in Valencia (Spain) between 2021 and 2023. Assessments were conducted at baseline, 12 months (immediately post-intervention), and 18 months. The intervention included a personalised care plan supported by technology, with monthly motivational follow-ups and plan updates by health professionals and participants. Outcomes were measured using an assessment questionnaire that included the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement dataset for the older population: physical health, physical functioning, general mental health, satisfaction with social activities and relationships, ability to carry out usual social roles and activities, pain, general quality of life, loneliness, physical frailty, psychological frailty, and social frailty. The study found significant improvements in physical frailty, quality of life, reduced health resource use and hospitalisations and lower levels of pain and depression/anxiety compared to baseline. Positive nursing practice environments benefit clients, professionals, and institutions, specifically for professionals, by improving professional visibility, recognition, retention intentions, well-being, commitment, job satisfaction, and reducing stress and burnout. Clients experience better quality care, safety, satisfaction, engagement, and fewer care omissions. Institutions favored reduced absenteeism and turnover, improved efficiency, lower costs, and better health outcomes. This study aimed to document the development of the "Program to Promote Positive Nursing Practice Environments" and analyze expert perceptions to reach a consensus. Using a two-round modified online Delphi technique with 22 experts, we examined perspectives on the program's goals, duration, organization, and content. Initial feedback showed agreement on the program's duration but mixed opinions on the number and length of sessions due to concerns about participant workload and fatigue. Adjustments led to a strong consensus and positive feedback on the program's coverage of essential nursing practice environment constructs. The program includes sessions on client, professional, and institutional dynamics, focusing on key attributes and outcomes for fostering positive nursing environments. By equipping nurses with knowledge and skills, the program aims to enhance work environments effectively. Introduction: Stress-induced hyperglycemia (SIH) and malnutrition are common in trauma patients and are linked to worse outcomes. This study examined the influence of nutritional status, determined by the Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI), on the incidence of SIH in trauma patients. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on adult trauma patients admitted to a Level I trauma center from 1 January 2009 to December 31, 2021. Patients were categorized into four groups: SIH, diabetic hyperglycemia (DH), diabetic normoglycemia (DN), and non-diabetic normoglycemia (NDN). Nutritional status was assessed using GNRI: high risk (GNRI < 82), moderate risk (82 ≤ GNRI < 92), low risk (92 ≤ GNRI ≤ 98), and no risk (GNRI > 98). Incidence of SIH and outcomes were analyzed across GNRI groups. Results: SIH was associated with higher mortality across all GNRI groups compared to NDN, with the highest rate (45.7%) in the high-risk group. Mortality decreased as GNRI increased in all glucose groups. NDN patients had the lowest mortality rates across GNRI groups. There was no correlation between GNRI and SIH incidence (p = 0.259). Conclusion: SIH significantly influenced mortality across all nutritional status groups, with the highest impact in malnourished patients. Although malnutrition did not affect SIH incidence, both SIH and poor nutritional status independently contributed to worse trauma outcomes. Background: Evaluation of a specific and dynamic pain, such as labor pain, with a situation-specific measurement tool will increase the quality of care given during childbirth. The Rating Scale of Pain Expression during Childbirth (ESVADOPA) is a situation-specific measurement tool for labor pain. The aim was to examine the psychometric properties of a Turkish version of the ESVADOPA scale. Methods: This study utilized a methodological design. Participants were 158 pregnant women at term and in spontaneous labor. Two measurements were performed during the passive and active phases of labor. To avoid bias between the raters, all the evaluations were performed by a single midwife. Validity analyses of the scale were performed using exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. Results: The scale was composed of a one-factor structure that had an eigenvalue of over 1 and explained 71.79% of the variance. Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale is 0.92. An analysis of the factor structure showed that the item factor loads ranged between 0.729 and 0.897. In the confirmatory factor analysis, the results showed that the data had a good fit with the model. Perinatal mental health is a growing public health concern. Refugee and asylum-seeking women are particularly susceptible to experiencing perinatal mental illness and may encounter a range of challenges in accessing healthcare. This scoping review sought to identify the enablers of and barriers to healthcare access and healthcare provision for refugee and asylum-seeking women experiencing perinatal mental illness in the WHO European Region. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews was applied. Nine databases and six grey literature sources were initially searched in April 2022, and an updated search was completed in July 2023. The search identified 16,130 records, and after the removal of duplicates and the screening process, 18 sources of evidence were included in this review. A data extraction table was used to extract significant information from each individual source of evidence, which was then mapped to the seven dimensions of the candidacy framework. Empirical (n = 14; 77.8%) and non-empirical (n = 4; 22.2%) sources of evidence were included. The literature originated from seven countries within the WHO European Region, including the United Kingdom (n = 9; 50%), Germany (n = 3; 16.7%), Denmark (n = 2; 11.2%), Norway (n = 1; 5.6%), Greece (n = 1; 5.6%), Sweden (n = 1; 5.6%), and Switzerland (n = 1; 5.6%). The results indicate that, although enablers and barriers were apparent throughout the seven dimensions of candidacy, barriers and impeding factors were more frequently reported. There was also a notable overall lack of reported enablers at the system level. Unaddressed language barriers and lack of attention to the diversity in culturally informed perceptions of perinatal mental illness were the main barriers at the individual level (micro-level) to identifying candidacy, navigating healthcare systems, and asserting the need for care. The lack of culturally appropriate alignment of healthcare services was the key organizational (meso-level) barrier identified. The wider structural and political contexts (macro-level factors), such as lack of funding for consultation time, focus on Western diagnostic and management criteria, and lack of services that adequately respond to the needs of refugee and asylum-seeking women, negatively influenced the operating conditions and wider production of candidacy. It can be concluded that there are multilevel and interconnected complexities influencing access to and provision of perinatal mental healthcare for refugee and asylum-seeking women. Background: Privacy in healthcare is a fundamental right essential to maintain patient confidentiality and trust. Community pharmacies in Saudi Arabia (SA) play a critical role in the healthcare system by providing accessible services and serving as initial points of contact for medical advice. However, the open nature of these settings poses significant challenges in maintaining patient privacy. Methods: This cross-sectional study used electronic surveys distributed across various online platforms. The target sample included Saudi adults, with a sample size of 385 participants to achieve 80% statistical power at a 95% confidence interval. The survey comprised demographic questions and sections evaluating perceptions of privacy, the importance of privacy, and personal experiences regarding privacy in community pharmacies. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression models were used for the analysis. Results: A total of 511 responses were obtained. The mean age was 33.5 years, with an almost equal distribution of males (49.71%) and females (50.29%). Most participants held a bachelor's degree or higher (78.67%). Privacy perceptions varied, with only 9.0% strongly agreeing that there was a private space for consultations, while 64.0% felt that the design of community pharmacies did not adequately consider patient privacy, and 86.9% reported that conversations could be overheard. Privacy concerns were notable, with almost one-half of the participants (47.6%) having concerns about privacy and 56.6% doubting the confidentiality of their health information. Moreover, 17.6% reported being asked for unnecessary personal information when buying medication, and 56.2% admitted to avoiding discussing a health problem with the pharmacist due to privacy concerns. Experiences of privacy breaches were reported by 15.7% of respondents. Logistic regression analysis revealed that the availability of private space in the pharmacy and patients feeling that the pharmacy respects their privacy were associated with a lower likelihood of avoiding discussions with pharmacists due to privacy concerns (OR = 0.758, CI = 0.599–0.0957 and OR = 0.715, CI = 0.542–0.945 respectively) Conversely, greater privacy concerns and previous privacy breaches significantly increased the likelihood of avoiding discussions with pharmacists in the community pharmacy (OR = 1.657, CI = 1.317–2.102 and OR = 4.127, CI = 1.886–9.821 respectively). Conclusions: This study highlights the significant concerns regarding privacy practices in community pharmacies in SA. Thus, there is a need for standards to improve privacy in community pharmacies, such as mandating the need for private consultation areas and enhanced staff training on handling privacy-related issues. Background: Breastfeeding is the gold standard in infant nutrition. Successful breastfeeding depends on many factors, including the help of medical personnel in teaching breastfeeding, the need for professional work, and breastfeeding-friendly places in public spaces. The main goal was to identify various barriers among mothers to breastfeeding. Methods: This study used a quantitative descriptive research design. We recruited 419 mothers aged at least 18 years old through social media. Results were analysed using Pearson's chi-squared and Fisher's tests of independence for pairs of dependent and independent variables. Results: Most often, women gave birth at the age of 25–30, had one or two children, and attended higher education. Almost half of them lived in a large city and gave birth to a child by caesarean section. A total of 83.1% of mothers planned to breastfeed, but not all of them were able to do so for various reasons. One-third of them felt sorry for themselves that they had to change their feeding method. The majority of mothers did not receive sufficient help in the hospital in terms of learning how to breastfeed (61%), did not use the help of a lactation consultant (67%), and answered that there was no lactation consultant in their place of residence (65%). Only 43.2% of mothers returned to work without ceasing breastfeeding. A total of 42% of mothers experienced feelings of embarrassment when breastfeeding in a public place. The most frequently indicated barrier to breastfeeding in a public place was the lack of a suitable location where a woman would feel comfortable, calm, and intimate. Conclusion: There are various barriers towards breastfeeding: too few lactation consultants, problems with breastfeeding when the mother wants to return to work, and unfriendly places for breastfeeding in public spaces. While numerous studies have revealed the impact of different bullying behaviors, such as victimization and perpetration, on the psychological development of adolescents, the exploration of the correlates of positive/negative bystander behaviors and their potential underlying mechanisms remains scarce in China. The present study aims to compare the relationships between mental health and positive versus negative bystander behavior and to clarify whether self-efficacy and coping styles mediate the relationships between mental health and bullying dynamics. The current study was conducted on 11,734 students from 18 secondary schools in Suzhou, China (Meanage = 15.00, SDage = 1.47; 53.8% boys). The information on bullying victimization, perpetration, positive/negative bystander behaviors, as well as self-efficacy, coping styles and mental health variables (including depression, anxiety, sleep disturbance, suicide risk), were collected. Negative bystander behavior was positively associated with mental health problems, while positive bystander behavior was negatively associated with these factors. Also, further analysis showed that coping styles and self-efficacy mediated the relationship between different bullying behaviors and mental health outcomes. The results highlighted the comparison of the correlates of positive and negative bystander behaviors, which were comparably crucial to those of victims and perpetrators for prevention and intervention efforts. Cholesteatoma is a benign tumor of the middle ear. Tympanoplasty is performed to remove cholesteatoma, prevent recurrence, and avoid complications. Previously, microscopy was used for tympanoplasty; however, endoscopy has become increasingly popular for this procedure. The effectiveness of endoscopy and the appropriate candidacy for endoscopic ear surgery remain controversial. In this retrospective chart review study, we enrolled 107 patients with cholesteatoma who underwent tympanoplasty and compared the microscopic approach (71 patients) and the endoscopic approach (36 patients) at different stages to clarify the benefits of using endoscopy and to determine candidacy for endoscopic ear surgery. Approach selection, complication rate, recurrence rate, and postoperative hearing threshold were compared between microscopic and endoscopic approaches in stages I, II, and III. Endoscopy was used more often than microscopy for early-stage (stage I) cholesteatoma (p = 0.005) and less frequently for advanced-stage (stage II) cholesteatoma (p = 0.02). Endoscopy surgery resulted in chorda tympani injury less often than microscopic surgery (p = 0.049); however, there were no significant differences between these two groups in terms of recurrence rate or postoperative hearing outcome. Endoscopy is particularly useful for early-stage cholesteatoma, and both approaches show no difference in hearing outcome in stage I and II; nevertheless, further research is required to determine an appropriate approach for more advanced stages (stage III). Time perspective is a theoretical construct that describes how humans perceive time, which can influence decision-making and subsequent behavior. Research has shown that an individual's dominant time perspective can be linked to increased risk of poor health. This study aimed to investigate the relationships between time perspective and perceived social isolation. Specifically, we examined the role of social interaction anxiety in the relationship between time perspective and perceived social isolation in a normative sample of college-aged individuals. Undergraduates (n = 1780) at a large midwestern university completed an online survey. Results revealed that future-oriented, past-positive, and present-hedonistic time perspectives were significantly negatively associated with perceived social isolation. In contrast, past-negative was positively associated with perceived social isolation, and these relationships were partially explained by social interaction anxiety. Understanding dominant time perspectives can help us to better assess health risk factors and may help to develop interventions to promote healthy behaviors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Blood culture is crucial for accurate and timely bacteremia diagnosis and guide antibiotic therapy. However, during culture sampling, contamination can occur, resulting in misdiagnosis, unnecessary antibiotic exposure, and prolonged hospitalization. This before-and-after intervention study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a multimodal intervention in preventing blood culture contamination. The study was conducted in a 170-bed hospital in Portugal and included a total of 23,566 blood cultures. Contamination rates were assessed in two phases: Phase 1 (before intervention, month 0) included 10,928 cultures, and Phase 2 (after intervention, month 6) included 12,638 cultures. During the study period, a multimodal intervention targeting the nursing staff was implemented, consisting of training actions, guideline updates, regular data monitoring and feedback, and introduction of a blood culture pack. Following the intervention, blood culture contamination decreased from 6.8% (Phase 1) to 3.9% (Phase 2). A comparative analysis revealed that the risk of contamination before the intervention was nearly four times higher in first culture, OR = 3.97 (CI 2.86–5.49). Our findings suggest that the multimodal intervention enhanced nurses' adherence to recommended practices, resulting in a reduced risk of blood culture contamination, earlier identification of infectious agents, and improved accuracy of antibiotic therapy.
