The Rev. Donald Wildmon, an early leader of Christian Nationalism in America, passed away at the age of 85. Although not as well-known as other TV preachers, Wildmon played a significant role in the rise of the Religious Right and founded one of the nation's first Christian Nationalist organizations. He launched the National Federation for Decency in 1977 to combat what he saw as salacious content on television but later changed the name to the American Family Association (AFA) and expanded its agenda to include attacking LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive freedom, public education, and promoting the idea of a "Christian nation." The AFA utilized boycotts as its primary tool and gained media attention and donations through these actions.
