Double satellite formation for gravity field exploration is a complex space virtual instrument system with high-precision, whose normal manner is threatened by the space debris environment. The normal manner of the formation based on control with prescribed performance is studied. Based on the random impact of space debris, nonlinear dynamical equations with 20 variables are established considering the relative attitude of the double satellite. The interferential characteristics and expected stability under certain disturbance conditions by the space debris in low Earth orbit are analyzed. To simplify the relative motion of the formation and the motion of the test mass (TM) relative to the cage, a prescribed performance function is introduced to constrain the relative attitude errors of transient and steady states. An adaptive attitude control design method based on a prescribed performance function is proposed. Finally, the analysis is carried out. The results show that the probability of normal manner of the formation is about 78.45% in the first year and about 45.59% in the first three years. The normal manner of the double satellite formation for gravity field exploration can be effectively simulated and analyzed based on the prescribed performance control methods. Underwater shock wave technology can realize dynamic rock fracture, which is helpful to increase oil and gas reservoir permeability. It can realize the efficient exploitation of medium and low maturity oil and gas resources. In practical application, the shock wave parameters require not only high intensity but also safety and controllability. To meet these requirements, insensitive composite energetic materials driven by electrical wire explosion plasma were proposed, which is one of the most promising methods. However, when in use, the load assembly process containing wires and energetic materials is complex. In this paper, a new type of energetic material load is proposed, using non-penetrating wire to drive composite energetic material. It can simplify the production process of the energetic load and produce acceptable shock wave parameters. The test results show that both the energy deposition of the wire and the shock wave intensity decrease under a non-penetrating wire structure. However, the shock wave intensity is still higher than that of the underwater electrical wire explosion. Based on schlieren diagnosis, it is found that the composite energetic material is gradually driven, and the energy release is not concentrated. In addition, the "non-wire" structure driving condition was discussed in contrast. Under this condition, the process of ionization channel establishment in composite energetic materials is random. Validated and accurate edge profiles (temperature, density, etc.) are vitally important to the Mega Ampere Spherical Tokamak Upgrade (MAST-U) divertor and confinement effort. Density profile reflectometry has the potential to significantly add to the measurement capabilities currently available on MAST-U (e.g., Thomson scattering and Langmuir probes). This work presents the diagnostic requirements, problems, and solutions facing profile reflectometry in spherical tokamaks and MAST-U in particular. Requirements include density measurements near zero electron density in the scrape off layer region, coverage for a broad range of MAST-U plasma parameters, high time (≤10 microseconds) and spatial resolutions (≤1 cm), reliability, and identification of the plasma start frequency., (© 2024 Author(s). A pulsed power supply with a short rise time and high repetition frequency is favorable to driving diffusive plasma for strongly oxidizing radical (O3, OH) generation and increasing the system's energy efficiency. In this paper, a 10-stage solid-state linear transformer driver (LTD) with a nanosecond rise time is developed to drive plasma for wastewater treatment. To decrease the rise time, a control system with low jitter is developed to improve the synchronization of pulses using an optocoupler isolation chip. A 10-stage LTD with a rise time of 6.2 ns is realized in the case that the rise time of the single-stage LTD is 5.4 ns. The results show that the LTD can generate pulses on a 300 Ω resistive load with a repetition frequency of 10 kHz, an amplitude of 8.80 kV, an overshoot less than 3.97%, and a reverse overshoot less than 4.82%. The rise time (6.2-33.0 ns), the pulse width (35.9-200.0 ns), and the fall time (10.5-27.6 ns) can be adjusted flexibly and independently by controlling the drive signals of metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors. The pulsed generator is utilized to drive plasma in the needle-water electrode system. Ultra-low noise is a critical component in the design of high-precision sensor front-ends. We introduced differential phase-sensitive detection (d-PSD) to mitigate both multiplicative and additive noise in optical sensors, aiming for an enhanced performance and cost-effectiveness. The d-PSD combines a capacitive transimpedance amplifier (C-TIA), a delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter (ΔΣ-ADC), and a software-based lock-in amplifier (s-LIA). The first two components utilize the DDC112 (a dual current input 20-bit ADC) for a minimal analog channel length, thus reducing noise efficiently, while the latter employs a cost-effective 32-bit microcontroller unit (MCU), the HC32F460. This approach was successfully implemented as the front-end for a smart optical sensor. Testing indicated that the sensor achieved an equivalent current noise level of 0.6 nA/√Hz, primarily attributed to the light source driver rather than the sensor's front-end circuit. The sensor exhibited an exceptional performance, with a 3σ measurement precision of 5.4 × 10-4 over a 1-second integration time and a dynamic range of 100 dB, leveraging the proposed method and design. We use molecular dynamics simulations to study the frictional response of monolayers of the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate and hemicylindrical aggregates physisorbed on gold. Our simulations of a sliding spherical asperity reveal the following two friction regimes: at low loads, the films show Amonton's friction with a friction force that rises linearly with normal load, and at high loads, the friction force is independent of the load as long as no direct solid-solid contact occurs. The transition between these two regimes happens when a single molecular layer is confined in the gap between the sliding bodies. The friction force at high loads on a monolayer rises monotonically with film density and drops slightly with the transition to hemicylindrical aggregates. This monotonous increase of friction force is compatible with a traditional plowing model of sliding friction. At low loads, the friction coefficient reaches a minimum at the intermediate surface concentrations. We attribute this behavior to a competition between adhesive forces, repulsion of the compressed film, and the onset of plowing., (© 2023 Author(s). The majority of reported measurements on high intensity ultrasound beams in air are below 40 kHz and performed on standing waves inside of a guide. Here, experimental characterization of high intensity progressive and divergent sound beams in air at 300 kHz are presented. Measurements in this frequency range are challenging. Accurate characterization of high intensity sound beams requires a measurement bandwidth at least ten times the beam's primary frequency, as high intensity soundwaves steepen and form shocks and, therefore, contain significant signal power at harmonic frequencies. Hence, a measurement bandwidth of at least 3 MHz is required. Calibrated measurement microphones are generally not available in this frequency range. This limitation has been overcome by using a hydrophone with a calibrated response from 250 kHz to 20 MHz. A narrowband piezoelectric transducer is used as the source in this study, and it is capable of generating tone burst waveforms centered at 300 kHz with 160 dB sound pressure level surface pressure. Cumulative wave steepening and shock formation are observed in on-axis measurements. Electrical wire explosions have many applications in scientific research and industry. Optical diagnosis is a powerful method to clarify the evolutionary process of such explosions. In this paper, an experimental platform was established to diagnose the optical radiation of electrical wire explosions. A low-jitter trigatron switch and its trigger generator were designed to ensure accurate synchronization. The spatial-temporal evolution process and the self-emission spectrum of electrical explosion plasmas from different wires (copper and tantalum) were obtained and analyzed. The optical diagnosis results indicated that the electrical explosion of copper wire was mainly characterized by the inhomogeneity of partial ionization and the rapid expansion of the discharge channel. The spectrum in the early discharge stage of the copper wire electrical explosion was a continuum, and most of the self-radiation spectral lines belonged to Cu I or Cu II. At the later stage of the plasma dissipation process, the continuous spectrum gradually transformed into a line spectrum. The development of the tantalum wire discharge channel was relatively uniform, and the plasma was mainly established in the gas-liquid mixed phase channel of the tantalum wire. The self-emission spectrum of the tantalum wire was always continuous, and the absorption process of line spectrum radiation was distinct.

X-ray diffraction indicates that the structure of the recently discovered carbonaceous sulfur hydride (C-S-H) room-temperature superconductor is derived from previously established van der Waals compounds found in the H 2 S-H 2 and CH 4 -H 2 systems. Crystals of the superconducting phase were produced by a photochemical synthesis technique, leading to the superconducting critical temperature T c of 288 K at 267 GPa. X-ray diffraction patterns measured from 124 to 178 GPa, within the pressure range of the superconducting phase, are consistent with an orthorhombic structure derived from the Al 2 Cu-type determined for (H 2 S) 2 H 2 and (CH 4 ) 2 H 2 that differs from those predicted and observed for the S-H system at these pressures. The formation and stability of the C-S-H compound can be understood in terms of the close similarity in effective volumes of the H 2 S and CH 4 components, and denser carbon-bearing S-H phases may form at higher pressures. The results are crucial for understanding the very high superconducting T c found in the C-S-H system at megabar pressures.
