To explore the risk factors of limb fracture complicated with pleural effusion, and to provide reference for the prevention of pleural effusion.From January 2010 to December 2019, 137 patients with multiple limb fractures were treated surgically, including 102 males and 35 females, aged 16 to 92(48.34±15.85) years. Multiple limb fractures were defined as more than two limb fractures in the whole body, so the selected patients had complete clinical, impact and laboratory examination data before operation, including preoperative chest CT, gender, age, body mass index(BMI), hematocrit(HCT), American Society of Anesthesiologists(ASA), injury severity score (ISS), smoking history of operation, history of diabetes, history of hypertension, admission to operation time, fracture site, platelet count, albumin, C-reactive protein and D-dimer. Whether the patient was complicated with pleural effusion, calculate the amount of pleural effusion were recorded, and the relevant risk factors were statistically analyzed.All limb fractures received surgical treatment. The incision healed well after operation, and there were no complications such as wound infection, acute lung injury or acute respiratory distress syndrome. Multivariate regression analysis showed that ISS higher than 16(Multiple fractures of limbs combined with pleural effusion are related to ISS, smoking history and rib fracture;the amount of pleural effusion was related to smoking history, ISS and rib fracture. Patients with multiple fractures with ISS greater than 16, smoking history or rib fracture should be vigilant and intervene as soon as possible to reduce the risk of pleural effusion.

The origin of the quantum superconductor to metal transition at zero temperature in two-dimensional superconductors is still an open problem, which has caused intensely discussion. Here, we report the observation of a quantum superconductor-to-metal transition in LaAlO3/KTaO3 (111) interface, driven by magnetic field. When a small magnetic field perpendicular to the film plane is applied, the residual saturated resistance is observed, indicating the emergence of an anomalous metallic state associated with a failed superconductor. The dependence of saturated resistance on magnetic field at low temperature indicates that the observed metal state is a Bose metal state. From our findings, magnetic field regulating LaAlO3/KTaO3 (111) interface emerges as a platform to scrutinize the details of the anomalous metallic state in a controllable way.

The correlation between Renminbi (RMB) internationalization and nonferrous metal prices was studied using the nonlinear Granger causality test and the dynamic conditional correlation-generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedastic (DCC-GARCH) model. The results indicate that the relationship between RMB internationalization and nonferrous metal prices reflects a complex nonlinear mechanism. There was no mutual influence between RMB internationalization and nonferrous metal prices prior to the trials of the RMB settlement in the cross-border trade in July 2009. Since then, however, a bidirectional causal relationship between RMB internationalization and the price of copper and a unidirectional causal relationship from the price of aluminum to RMB internationalization were examined. In addition, due to the impact of extreme events, such as economic and financial crises, RMB internationalization and nonferrous metal prices are not always positively correlated but are rather occasionally negatively correlated.

Background: Volar locking plating remains a popular method for the surgical management of distal radius fractures. Dorsal metaphyseal comminution (DMC) is a common fracture pattern which weakens the stability during fracture fixation. In this study, we aimed to compare the radiographic and functional outcome of the intra- and extra-articular distal radius fractures with DMC following volar locking plate fixation.Materials and methods: Patients suffered from a distal radius fracture with DMC were reviewed in the clinical database of the authors’ institution between Jan 2016 and Jan 2020. The included patients were classified into the extra-articular (A3) group or the intra-articular (C2 and C3) group according to the AO/OTA system. The radiological parameters, wrist range of motion, and functional outcomes were evaluated following open reduction and volar locking plate fixation.Results: A total of 130 patients were included in this study with a mean follow-up length of 17.2 months. Compared with the A3 fracture group, no significant fracture re-displacement or reduced wrist ROMs was observed in the C2 fractures after 12-month’s follow-up. However, significantly decreased volar tilt (P = 0.003) as well as the extension/flexion ROMs were observed in the C3 fractures comparing to the A3 fractures. Most of the patients achieved an excellent (n = 75) or good (n = 51) Gartland and Werley wrist score. Four patients with C3 fractures resulted in a fair functional outcome due to a significant loss of volar tilt during follow-up.Conclusions: The volar locking plate fixation provided sufficient stability for distal radius fractures with DMC, and resulted in similar radiological and functional outcomes in the intra-articular distal radius fractures with a simple articular component (C2 fractures) as those in the extra-articular fractures. Considering the intra-articular fractures with multifragmentary articular component (C3 fracture), despite of the subsequent loss of volar tilt, the majority of the patients achieved good to excellent wrist function following volar locking plating.Trial registration: Not applicable because the design of the study is retrospective.

High mobility quasi two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) found at the CaZrO3/SrTiO3 nonpolar heterointerface is attractive and provides a platform for the development of functional devices and nanoelectronics. Here we report that the carrier density and mobility at low temperature can be tuned by gate voltage at the CaZrO3/SrTiO3 interface. Furthermore, the magnitude of Rashba spin–orbit interaction can be modulated and increases with the gate voltage. Remarkably, the diffusion constant and the spin–orbit relaxation time can be strongly tuned by gate voltage. The diffusion constant increases by a factor of ∼ 19.98 and the relaxation time is reduced by a factor of over three orders of magnitude while the gate voltage is swept from –50 V to 100 V. These findings not only lay a foundation for further understanding the underlying mechanism of Rashba spin–orbit coupling, but also have great significance in developing various oxide functional devices.

Increasing number of offshore wind farm projects with wind turbines supported by suction bucket foundation in mildly sloping sandy seabed have being planned in earthquake-prone areas. Hence, it is crucial to evaluate the seismic performance of suction bucket foundations for offshore wind turbines in such liquefiable ground, especially considering the interaction between the bucket and both outside and inside bucket soil. Based on a pair of centrifuge shaking table tests, the seismic response of the bucket foundations and turbines in liquefiable ground is evaluated in this study. The dynamic response of soil, foundation, and turbine are presented. The test results indicate that the horizontal displacement of mildly sloping liquefiable seabed during earthquakes can results in excessive displacement and rotation of the bucket foundation. The influence of inside-bucket soil on foundation and turbine response, and especially on the kinematic and inertial interactions of the system are analyzed in detail. The analysis results indicate that inside-bucket soil plays an important role in stabilizing the foundation-turbine system during earthquakes, restricting the displacement and rotation of the foundation and the acceleration of the turbine.
