Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) is a major oilseed crop in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China. However, it is susceptible to waterlogging stress. This study aimed to investigate the physiological characteristics, cellular changes, and gene expression patterns of rapeseed under waterlogging stress, with the goal of providing a foundation for breeding waterlogging-tolerant rapeseed. The results revealed that waterlogging-tolerant rapeseed exhibited higher levels of soluble sugars and antioxidant enzyme activity, particularly in the roots. Conversely, waterlogging-sensitive rapeseed displayed greater changes in malondialdehyde, proline, and hydrogen peroxide levels. Cellular observations showed that after experiencing waterlogging stress, the intercellular space of rapeseed leaf cells expanded, leading to disintegration of mitochondria and chloroplasts. Moreover, the area of the root xylem increased, the number of vessels grew, and there were signs of mitochondrial disintegration and vacuole shrinkage, with more pronounced changes observed in waterlogging-sensitive rapeseed. Furthermore, significant differences were found in the transcription levels of genes related to anaerobic respiration and flavonoid biosynthesis, and different varieties demonstrated varied responses to waterlogging stress. In conclusion, there are differences in the response of different varieties to waterlogging stress at the levels of morphology, physiological characteristics, cell structure, and gene transcription. Waterlogging-tolerant rapeseed responds to waterlogging stress by regulating its antioxidant defense system. Despite recent advances in the assembly of organic nanotubes, conferral of sequence-defined engineering and dynamic response characteristics to the tubules remains a challenge. Here we report a new family of highly designable and dynamic nanotubes assembled from sequence-defined peptoids through a unique "rolling-up and closure of nanosheet" mechanism. During the assembly process, amorphous spherical particles of amphiphilic peptoid oligomers crystallize to form well-defined nanosheets before folding to form single-walled nanotubes. These nanotubes undergo a pH-triggered, reversible contraction-expansion motion. By varying the number of hydrophobic residues of peptoids, we demonstrate tuning of nanotube wall thickness, diameter, and mechanical properties. Atomic force microscopy-based mechanical measurements show peptoid nanotubes are highly stiff (Young's Modulus ~13-17 GPa). We further demonstrate the precise incorporation of functional groups within nanotubes and their applications in water decontamination and cellular adhesion and uptake. These nanotubes provide a robust platform for developing biomimetic materials tailored to specific applications.

The organic‐rich shale of the seventh Oil Member (Chang 7 Member for short) of the Middle‐Late Triassic Yanchang Formation is extensively distributed in the southern margin of the Ordos Basin. Understanding the palaeoenvironmental conditions during the sedimentary period of the Chang 7 Member is crucial to exploring the main factors that control the enrichment of organic matter in high‐quality source rocks. In this study, lithofacies analysis was conducted, and samples were collected from the N36 well located in the southern part of the Ordos Basin. Subsequently, element geochemical analysis was performed to reconstruct the palaeoenvironment, and total organic carbon (TOC) tests were conducted to analyse the characteristics of organic matter enrichment. The findings indicate that the sedimentary period of the Chang 7 Member was characterized by a relatively warm and humid palaeo‐climate and a brackish water environment with oxygen‐poor or sub‐oxygen‐rich conditions, and a gradual decrease in palaeo‐water depth. The parent rock types were mainly felsic igneous rock and intermediate igneous rock, which provide limited nutritional elements for primary producers. The enrichment of organic matter in the Chang 7 Member is influenced by several factors, mainly including palaeo‐salinity, palaeo‐water depth, palaeo‐redox conditions, terrestrial inputs, and palaeo‐climate. The warm and humid palaeo‐climate, higher palaeo‐productivity, relatively higher palaeo‐salinity, lower terrigenous input, deeper palaeo‐water depth, and better preservation conditions are conducive to the development of high‐quality source rock in the Chang 7 Member. Polymers are abundantly used in oil production industry, especially in enhanced oil recovery process. The underground oil reservoir is a kind of porous media where complex microscopic geometries lead to strong shearing and extensional components. This research focuses on a novel method used to investigate the flow behaviors of hydrolyzed polyacrylamide solution at a micro pore-throat structure with a comparison with Newtonian flow of water. For polymer solution, the flow velocimetry revealed the viscoelastic flow has two main characters compared with Newtonian fluid. First, the instability or non-linearity of polymer flows led to bending and distorted streamlines. The instability of the flow is mainly caused by the growth of high stress generated in the viscoelastic polymer fluid as it accelerates and decelerates into and out from the narrow throat, respectively speaking.
