The results of an analysis on bioengineered and local structures conditions and directions of application which are used in river catchments for more efficient water use are given in the paper. Classification of structures according to their purpose and application conditions has been carried out. A comparative assessment for structures' efficiency was carried out according to the average statistical indicators and the results of simulation calculations in Excel and Python computer programs. According to the research results, it was revealed that bioengineered and local structures in the catchment area reduce the degree of pollution of water bodies by 60...90% on average, depending on the type of pollutants and climatic conditions that affect the assimilating ability of higher aquatic vegetation in bio-engineered structures. At the same time, water resources are saved due to the re-produced runoff of up to 30% on average. Recommendations are given for the use of bioengineered and local structures to increase their efficiency, improve water use conditions and make more complete use of local river catchment re-sources.
