Objective: The preventive and therapeutic effects of the aqueous extract of Ficus pumila on COPD model rats were observed and its mechanism was also discussed. Methods: COPD model was established by intratracheal injection of lipopolysaccharide and smoking. Using the pulmonary function test, the level of related inflammatory factors detection in the BALF by ELISA, the blood gas analysis and HE staining for lung pathological observation. Results: The results showed that the indexes of the model rats were consistent with the pathological characteristic of COPD. The model group animals had obvious airflow obstruction, while the high dose of F. pumila aqueous extract group could significantly increase the levels of FVC, Fev0.3, PEF, Fev0.3/FVC （P2 and CO2 in the lungs of the model rats; At the same time, the high dosage of Ficus pumila aqueous extract can significantly improve the pulmonary ventilation function of COPD, and the effect was better than positive drug. Hyperuricemia is another common metabolic disease, which is considered to be closely related to the development of many chronic diseases, in addition to the “three highs.” Currently, although drugs show positive therapeutic effects, they have been shown to produce side effects that can damage the body. There is growing evidence that medicinal and edible plants and their bioactive components have a significant effect on hyperuricemia. In this paper, we review common medicinal and edible plants with uric acid-lowering effects and summarize the uric acid-lowering mechanisms of different bioactive components. Specifically, the bioactive components are divided into five categories: flavonoids, phenolic acids, alkaloids, polysaccharides, and saponins. These active substances exhibit positive uric acid-lowering effects by inhibiting uric acid production, promoting uric acid excretion, and improving inflammation. Overall, this review examines the potential role of medicinal and edible plants and their bioactive components as a means of combating hyperuricemia, with the hope of providing some reference value for the treatment of hyperuricemia.

Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) infection causes severe diarrhea and high mortality in neonatal piglets. Pseudorabies causes acute and often fatal infections in young piglets, respiratory disorders in growing pigs, and reproductive failure in sows. In late 2011, pseudorabies virus (PRV) variants occurred in Bartha-K61-vaccine-immunized swine herds, resulting in economic losses to the global pig industry. Therefore, it is essential to develop a safe and effective vaccine against both PEDV and PRV infections. In this study, we constructed a recombinant virus rPRV-PEDV S1 expressing the major neutralizing epitope region (COE, SS2, and SS6) of the PEDV S1 protein by homologous recombination technology and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing technology, and then evaluated its biological characteristics in vitro and immunogenicity in pigs. The recombinant virus rPRV-PEDV S1 had similar growth kinetics in vitro to the parental rPRV NY-gE−/gI−/TK− strain, and was proven genetically stable in swine testicle (ST) cells and safe for piglets. PEDV S1-specific antibodies were detected in piglets immunized with rPRV-PEDV S1 on the 7th day post-immunization (dpi), and the antibody level increased rapidly at 14–21 dpi. Moreover, the immunized piglets receiving the recombinant virus exhibited alleviated clinical signs and reduced viral load compared to the unvaccinated group following a virulent PEDV HN2021 strain challenge. Also, piglets immunized with rPRV-PEDV S1 developed a PRV-specific humoral immune response and elicited complete protection against a lethal PRV NY challenge. These data indicate that the recombinant rPRV-PEDV S1 is a promising vaccine candidate strain for the prevention and control of PEDV and PRV infections. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The pre-stressing anchor cable is concrete linear type and the steel strand is unbounded in Jialing River Caojie navigation-power junction desilting sluice project. This work will be carried out with post tension method that first tightening the steel strands in signal piece and then tension the bunch-strands. The main anchor cable consists of 45 pieces of steel strands which are the thickest bunch in hydraulic and hydroelectric construction at present, the weight is 75 kg. Cyclophilin D (referred to as HsCypD ) was obtained from the freshwater pearl mussel ( Hyriopsis schlegelii ). The full-length cDNA was 2 671 bp, encoding a protein consisting of 367 amino acids. HsCypD was determined to be a hydrophilic intracellular protein with 10 phosphorylation sites and four tetratricopeptide repeat (TPR) domains, but no signal peptide. The core sequence region YKGCIFHRIIKDFMVQGG is highly conserved in vertebrates and invertebrates. Phylogenetic tree analysis indicated that CypD from all species had a common origin, and HsCypD had the closest phylogenetic relationship with CypD from Lottia gigantea. The constitutive mRNA expression levels of HsCypD exhibited tissue-specific patterns, with the highest level detected in the intestines, followed by the gonads, and the lowest expression found in the hemocytes.

Bladder cancer is one of the most common cancers diagnosed in the world and leads to significant mortality and morbidity among affected patients. The retinoblastoma (Rb) protein is a main tumor suppressor, controlling cellular responses to potentially oncogenic stimulation. E2F3 was invariably disrupted in different human cancers for its central role in the control of cellular proliferation. Here, we investigated how Rb is integrated to control bladder cancer progression through E2F3 and p53 regulation. The results exhibit that Rb expression is lower in patients with bladder tumor, while E2F3 level is high. Rb knockdown enhanced bladder tumor cell proliferation and migration, aggravated with p53 silence. Interestingly, Rb silence results in E2F3, Myc and mTOR signaling pathway activation, contributing to bladder cancer cell proliferation and apoptosis suppression mainly through caspase-3 inhibition in vitro and in vivo. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that Rb is highly expressed in normal bladder cells, but was repressed in tumor tissues of the bladder completely, suggesting a possible role of Rb as a tumor suppressor.
