La regulación emocional, el dolor psicológico y el apoyo social son constructos que tienen un papel fundamental en el nivel de la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud de los pacientes con cáncer; sin embargo, la poca literatura existente no explica en conjunto estas variables. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de este estudio fue analizar de manera sistemática la información existente sobre la regulación emocional, el dolor psicológico y el apoyo social en función de la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud en pacientes con cáncer. Se realizó una revisión de la literatura en tres bases de datos. Los estudios se seleccionaron con base a los criterios de elegibilidad, se evaluó su calidad metodológica y solamente se incluyeron los estudios que cumplieron con el 75% de calidad. Los resultados mostraron que la regulación emocional y el apoyo social impactan de manera positiva en la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud, mientras que el dolor psicológico impacta de manera desfavorable.

El culturismo es un deporte asociado con alteraciones psicológicas, afecciones en la salud y deterioro en las relaciones interpersonales. Aunque las mujeres no están exentas, la mayoría de los estudios se han realizado en hombres. Método: El objetivo de esta investigación fue describir el consumo de sustancias ergogénicas, la dependencia al ejercicio y la presencia de síntomas de TCA y DM, en usuarias de gimnasio. La búsqueda de información se realizó en PubMed, PsycInfo y Medline. Se siguieron los lineamientos de la declaración PRISMA y se evaluó la calidad metodológica. Se incluyeron 22 estudios en la revisión. Resultados: Los estudios fueron publicados durante las últimas dos décadas y la mayoría se realizaron en Europa y en América. Un porcentaje importante de culturistas competidoras y recreativas tienen dependencia al ejercicio (29.6%). Se encontró alta prevalencia de consumo de suplementos alimenticios (50.7%) y esteroides anabólicos (41.7%), así como síntomas de TCA (46.6%) y DM. Conclusiones: La información obtenida aún es limitada, debido a que la mayoría de los investigadores han evaluado las variables de interés por separado. Se requieren más estudios que contribuyan a la comprensión de este fenómeno en usuarias de gimnasio. Los resultados se discuten a luz de investigaciones previas.

Nosso objetivo primordial é resgatar o nome de Cavalcanti como um dos expoentes no trabalho de montagem de imagem e edição de som nos documentários ingleses durante o início do cinema sonoro, e estabelecer uma aproximação com os trabalhos contemporâneos do desenho de som, resguardadas suas diferenças.

The appearance of a new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, in 2019 kicked off an international public health emergency. Although rapid progress in vaccination has reduced the number of deaths, the development of alternative treatments to overcome the disease is still necessary. It is known that the infection begins with the interaction of the spike glycoprotein (at the virus surface) and the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 cell receptor (ACE2). Therefore, a straightforward solution for promoting virus inhibition seems to be the search for molecules capable of abolishing such attachment. In this work, we tested 18 triterpene derivatives as potential inhibitors of SARS-CoV-2 against the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the spike protein by means of molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations, modeling the RBD S1 subunit from the X-ray structure of the RBD-ACE2 complex (PDB ID: 6M0J). Molecular docking revealed that at least three triterpene derivatives of each type (i.e., oleanolic, moronic and ursolic) present similar interaction energies as the reference molecule, i.e., glycyrrhizic acid. Molecular dynamics suggest that two compounds from oleanolic and ursolic acid, OA5 and UA2, can induce conformational changes capable of disrupting the RBD-ACE2 interaction. Finally, physicochemical and pharmacokinetic properties simulations revealed favorable biological activity as antivirals.

The first village built was La Isabela (1494) where the Spaniards found good limestone for ashlars and were able to make lime as well as good clay for earth walls, masonry walls, etc. After La Isabela, the cities of La Vega (1495) and Santo Domingo (1498) were established. These villas still include vestiges of these building materials that are a source of information about their composition. The study is focused on the ruins of the fortress of Concepcion de La Vega that survived the earthquake in 1562 that destroyed the city. The aim of this research was to characterize the mortar and plasters of the fortress of Concepcion de La Vega on the Hispaniola Island. To determine their chemical and mineralogical composition optical microscopy (OM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy and a thermogravimetric differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA) were used. The results showed that the major component of the mortars was CaCO3 (95 %), indicating that there is lime mortar. Objective: the aim of this study was to determine the vasorelaxant effect of semisynthetic derivatives of ursolic acid and to establish the mode of action, and the antihypertensive effect of the most active compound. Methods: Isolated aorta rat rings (ex vivo assay), with and without endothelium, were used to determine the vasorelaxant effect of seven semisynthetic derivatives of ursolic acid (UA-01 to UA-07). Then, the effect of the most active compound was studied in ex vivo assay using L-NAME, ODQ and indomethacin to determine its mode action. Finally, the in vivo cardiovascular effect and molecular docking of the most active compound were determined. Results: UA-07 was the most potent compound of the derivatives, since UA-07 induced significant relaxant effect in a concentration- and endothelium-dependent manners (Emax = 79.09% and EC50 = 110 µM), on aortic rat rings pre-contracted with noradrenaline (NA, 0.1 µM). Also, endothelium-derived nitric oxide seems to be involved in the mechanism of action of UA-07, because pre-incubation with L-NAME (a NOS inhibitor) and ODQ (a soluble guanylate cyclase inhibitor) significantly reduced its vasorelaxant effect. Further, UA-07 showed a similar binding affinity as ursolic acid on eNOS C1 binding pocket using in silico studies. Finally, treatment with UA-07 (50 mg/Kg) on spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) significantly decreased diastolic blood pressure during seven hours. Conclusion: These results demonstrate the significant antihypertensive effect of UA-07, possibly through NO/cGMP system.

The objective was to assess the incremental validity, internal consistency and temporal stability of the New Sexual Satisfaction Scale short version (NSSS-S) in Spanish-speaking Latino adults. The sample included 401 university students (232 women and 169 men), sexually active, 18 to 38 years old (M = 20.83; SD = 2.66). A subsample of 76 participants answered the scale four weeks after the first application. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) identified a two-factor structure. The invariance analysis with multigroup confirmatory factor analysis (MGCFA) confirmed the invariance by sex of the scale. The internal consistencyreliability of the scale and its subscales was excellent for both men and women (ω = .89 - .95) and the temporal stability, four weeks after the first application, was adequate (r = .74; ICC = .85). Finally, men scored higher in overall sexual satisfaction and the Ego-Centered subscale, but not in the Partner -and Sexual Activity-Centered subscale, as compared to women. To conclude, the NSSS-S is a psychometrically appropriate scale to measure sexual satisfaction in Spanish-speaking Latino adults.

PurposeThe authors identify the theoretical constructions measuring the intentions to pursue succession as well as the socioemotional wealth theoretical framework, and the authors propose an objective of testing the relationships existing between them so as their importance giving evidence of their relevance.Design/methodology/approachIt is a research with a positivist philosophical position measuring in a quantitative way with a deductive and structured approach applied to 98 CEO owners of Mexican companies, using nonparametric methodologies the authors simulated subsamples with structural equation modeling in SmartPLS 3.3.2, the metrics on the model are described as a functionalist paradigm.FindingsDirectors' attitudes paired up with the intentions of succession are significantly related to the socioemotional aspect of the family business; although the theory proposes three aspects to measure these intentions, the social norm in this research has not been strong enough to be a predictor as an influence on the company's socioemotional wealth.Originality/valueThe authors found this a valuable paper for the complement of theory focused on purely manifesting aspects in family companies, because they identified theoretical and empirical relationships opening up guidelines for new research in socioemotional aspects in accordance with the entrepreneurs attitudes to achieve succession, the differentiation lies in measuring psychological aspects of the director's behavior toward succession and not to the succession per se as done in most research; also, the methodology of data analysis facilitates the reader to easily recognize the relationships between the proposed theoretical constructions, showing the detailed metrics development by researchers in the family business field.

El financiamiento crediticio es un factor fundamental para emprender cualquier actividad económica, Ecuador es considerado uno de los países con más microemprendiemientos a nivel de América Latina en donde más del 80% de empresas constituidas pertenecen a este sector, por su parte en el Cantón Mejía de todos los negocios censados el 91% son microempresas. Sin embargo, las condiciones de financiamiento que se aplica no son las más favorables del mercado, una de sus principales alternativas es el microcrédito cuyas características son elevadas tasas de interés y periodos de corto plazo. El desarrollo de la investigación se basa en el objetivo de analizar si una determinada alternativa de financiamiento influye de manera significativa en el desarrollo económico de la microempresa del sector comercio al por menor del Cantón Mejía. La presente investigación se desarrolló describiendo la situación actual del microempresario; fundamentos teóricos, de referencia, conceptuales; una recolección de datos mediante una técnica documental y de campo; para el tratamiento de información se trabajó con el software estadístico SPSS Statistics 25, se utilizó la estadística inferencial para probar la hipótesis a través de análisis bivariados con pruebas Chi cuadrado y una prueba de correlación de Spearman para medir la relación entre las variables; finalmente se elaboró como propuesta de mejora una guía de financiamiento destinada al microempresario para brindarle información que le permita tomar mejores decisiones en materia financiera.

The arrival of Spaniards in the Caribbean islands introduced to the region the practice of applying pigments onto buildings. The pigments that remain on these buildings may provide data on their historical evolution and essential information for tackling restoration tasks. In this study, a 17th-century mural painting located in the Cathedral of Santo Domingo on the Hispaniola island of the Caribbean is characterised via UV–VIS–NIR, Raman and FTIR spectroscopy, XRD and SEM/EDX. The pigments are found in the older Chapel of Our Lady of Candelaria, currently Chapel of Our Lady of Mercy. The chapel was built in the 17th century by black slave brotherhood and extended by Spaniards. During a recent restoration process of the chapel, remains of mural painting appeared, which were covered by several layers of lime. Five colours were identified: ochre, green, red, blue and white. Moreover, it was determined that this mural painting was made before the end of the 18th century, because many of the materials used were no longer used after the industrialisation of painting. However, since both rutile and anatase appear as a white pigment, a restoration may have been carried out in the 20th century, and it has been painted white., This research was funded by FONDOCyT 2016-2017, MESCyT, Dominican Republic as part of ACROFA Project, ‘Application of physical-chemical methods for the chromatic characterisation of exterior facades. Purpose: The present study contemplates an investigation to know the relationship that exists between the organizational behavior as the factor of competitiveness in the familiar companies of the service sector in Tijuana, B.C.; the fact that companies have an organizational climate not only benefits the human resource itself but also the company conjointly as it generates profits, while raising the quality of human resources and forging an organization with strengths that position it into the market as a competitive company Methodology: 168 representative surveys were carried out on the employees of the family service sector companies registered in the Mexican Business Information System (SIEM), corresponding to Tijuana in Baja California, Mexico. The survey was conducted in the last eight months of 2016 and the first four months of 2017. The quantitative research is applied through survey applications, by questionnaires to the employees of family companies in the service sector to obtain the results. Main Findings: The factors of autonomy, teamwork, support, communication, pressure, recognition, equity, innovation, perception of the organization, motivation, remuneration, training and development, physical and cultural environment, vision, general satisfaction, promotion and career have a direct impact on organizational behavior, as factors of competitiveness in Tijuana, BC, Mexico Implications/Applications: Organizational behavior is important for family businesses and due to the difficult environment faced by family businesses in order to be competitive in our country and in global markets; a good option for owners is to invest in organizational behavior as a market strategy.

En el presente trabajo se evaluaron las concentraciones de formaldehído por la aplicación de aerosoles en interiores utilizando como referencia de estudio la aplicación de dos aerosoles sanitizantes y uno aromatizante, con la finalidad de evaluar los efectos en la calidad del aire interior. Debido al comportamiento de las concentraciones de formaldehído se optó por un diseño experimental factorial sin réplica, considerando tres niveles: ventilación (ventilado y no ventilado), tiempo de aplicación (3, 5 y 10 seg) y tipo de aerosol. El diseño constó de 18 experimentos que fueron realizados en condiciones similares de volumen y ubicación. Se comprobó que los aerosoles aromatizantes no representan peligro con respecto al formaldehído ya que carecen de él. Sin embargo, las concentraciones de formaldehído en la mayoría de los experimentos con sanitizantes si alcanzaron valores que sobrepasan los límites de exposición recomendados por la organización de salud laboral (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health).

Background Bile acid malabsorption occurs in up to one third of patients with chronic diarrhoea of functional characteristics. The gold standard test for its diagnosis is the 75Selenium homocholic acid taurine (75SeHCAT) test. The aim of this work is to confirm previous data suggesting that bile acid malabsorption, diagnosed by 75Se-HCAT test, is the underlying cause of diarrhoea in a significant proportion of patients previously diagnosed with a functional disorder. In addition, we have analysed the clinical response of bile acid sequestrants in those patients with a bile acid diarrhoea diagnosis. Methods This is a prospective, single-centre study including consecutive adult patients diagnosed with chronic diarrhoea of unknown origin and with functional characteristics; systematic rule out of common causes of chronic diarrhoea was performed before bile acid malabsorption evaluation by 75SeHCAT scanning. A retention percentage less than 10% was considered positive. Clinical response to cholestyramine was further evaluated in those patients with a positive diagnosis of bile acid diarrhoea Results 38 patients (20 male, mean age 37.5 years) were finally included. Twenty (52.6%) patients included had a positive 75SeHCAT test. Median body mass index was significantly higher in those patients. We did not find significant differences in other clinical or biochemical variables 75SeHCAT-positive and 75SeHCAT-negative groups. Only 6 of 17 (35.3%) patients responded to cholestyramine treatment; 10 patients did not have response or withdraw the drug due to adverse events. Logistic regression analysis showed that none of the included variables was a predictor of clinical response to cholestyramine. Conclusions Bile acid malabsorption occurs in a high proportion of patients suffering from chronic diarrhoea with functional characteristics. Systematic investigation of bile acid malabsorption should be included in the diagnostic algorithms of patients with chronic watery diarrhoea in the routine clinical practice. Absence of response to cholestyramine does not rule out bile acid diarrhoea.

Preeclampsia (PE) is a pregnancy complex disease, distinguished by high blood pressure and proteinuria, diagnosed after the 20th gestation week. Depending on the values of blood pressure, urine protein concentrations, symptomatology, and onset of disease there is a wide range of phenotypes, from mild forms developing predominantly at the end of pregnancy to severe forms developing in the early stage of pregnancy. In the worst cases severe forms of PE could lead to systemic endothelial dysfunction, eclampsia, and maternal and/or fetal death. Worldwide the fetal morbidity and mortality related to PE is calculated to be around 8% of the total pregnancies. PE still being an enigma regarding its etiology and pathophysiology, in general a deficient trophoblast invasion during placentation at first stage of pregnancy, in combination with maternal conditions are accepted as a cause of endothelial dysfunction, inflammatory alterations and appearance of symptoms. Depending on the PE multifactorial origin, several in vitro, in vivo, and in silico models have been used to evaluate the PE pathophysiology as well as to identify or test biomarkers predicting, diagnosing or prognosing the syndrome. This review focuses on the most common models used for the study of PE, including those related to placental development, abnormal trophoblast invasion, uteroplacental ischemia, angiogenesis, oxygen deregulation, and immune response to maternal–fetal interactions. The advances in mathematical and computational modeling of metabolic network behavior, gene prioritization, the protein–protein interaction network, the genetics of PE, and the PE prediction/classification are discussed. Finally, the potential of these models to enable understanding of PE pathogenesis and to evaluate new preventative and therapeutic approaches in the management of PE are also highlighted. Impact statement This review is important to the field of preeclampsia (PE), because it provides a description of the principal in vitro, in vivo, and in silico models developed for the study of its principal aspects, and to test emerging therapies or biomarkers predicting the syndrome before their evaluation in clinical trials. Despite the current advance, the field still lacking of new methods and original modeling approaches that leads to new knowledge about pathophysiology. The part of in silico models described in this review has not been considered in the previous reports.

Hit, Lead & Candidate Discovery Protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP-1B) has attracted interest as a novel target for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, this because its role in the insulin-signaling pathway as a negative regulator. Thus, the aim of current work was to obtain seven ursolic acid derivatives as potential antidiabetic agents with PTP-1B inhibition as main mechanism of action. Furthermore, derivatives 1-7 were submitted in vitro to enzymatic PTP-1B inhibition being 3, 5, and 7 the most active compounds (IC50 = 5.6, 4.7, and 4.6 μM, respectively). In addition, results were corroborated with in silico docking studies with PTP-1B orthosteric site A and extended binding site B, showed that 3 had polar and Van der Waals interactions in both sites with Lys120, Tyr46, Ser216, Ala217, Ile219, Asp181, Phe182, Gln262, Val49, Met258, and Gly259, showing a docking score value of -7.48 Kcal/mol, being more specific for site A. Moreover, compound 7 showed polar interaction with Gln262 and Van der Waals interactions with Ala217, Phe182, Ile219, Arg45, Tyr46, Arg47, Asp48, and Val49 with a predictive docking score of -6.43 kcal/mol, suggesting that the potential binding site could be localized in the site B adjacent to the catalytic site A. The increase of insecurity levels in Mexico, as well as the fact that violence is a frequent experience among health personnel, motivated this study whose purpose was to evaluate the perception of security and violence that social service medical interns (SSMI) had on the institutions and localities where they carried out their social work and make visible the main types of violence to which they were exposed. This was a cross-sectional study, based on a perception survey self-administered to 157 SSMI from Zacatecas, in Mexico. A high proportion of the participants (75.8%) stated that they were victims of violence, describing 134 incidents; however, only 33.6% of SSMI made an official report. The reported incidents were related to organized crime (31.9%), verbal violence (20.6%), violence by the authorities (14.7%) and sexual harassment (11.8%). One hundred percent of the victims of sexual harassment were women (p = 0.039). According to the above, it is a priority to generate strategies to prevent and reduce the risk of exposure to the violence generated in the medical units and communities where SSMI carry out their activities as medical graduates, as well as, to efficiently process formal violence reports to promote a safe environment that favors the fulfillment of the practice of SSMIs in Mexico.

To perform serum microRNA expression profiling to identify members of chromosome 19 miRNA cluster involved in preeclampsia development. Serum chromosome 19 miRNA cluster microRNA expression profiling was evaluated at 12, 16, and 20 gestational weeks and at the time of preeclampsia diagnosis, in women who developed preeclampsia (WWD-PE; n = 16) and controls (n = 18) using TaqMan low density array plates. Dapsone (DDS) is an antibacterial drug with well-known antioxidant properties. However, the antioxidant behavior of its derivatives has not been well explored. In the present work, the antioxidant activity of 10 dapsone derivatives 4-substituted was determined by an evaluation in two in vitro models (DPPH radical scavenging assay and ferric reducing antioxidant power). These imine derivatives 1–10 were obtained through condensation between DDS and the corresponding aromatic aldehydes 4-substuited. Three derivatives presented better results than DDS in the determination of DPPH (2, 9, and 10). Likewise, we have three compounds with better reducing activity than dapsone (4, 9, and 10). In order to be more insight, the redox process, a conceptual DFT analysis was carried out. Molecular descriptors such as electronic distribution, the total charge accepting/donating capacity (I/A), and the partial charge accepting/donating capacity (ω+/ω−) were calculated to analyze the relative donor-acceptor capacity through employing a donor acceptor map (DAM). The DFT calculation allowed us to establish a relationship between GAPHOMO-LUMO and DAM with the observed antioxidant effects. According to the results, we concluded that compounds 2 and 3 have the lowest Ra values, representing a good antioxidant behavior observed experimentally in DPPH radical capturing. On the other hand, derivatives 4, 9, and 10 display the best reducing capacity activity with the highest ω− and Rd values. Consequently, we propose these compounds as the best antireductants in our DDS imine derivative series.

The antileukemia cancer activity of organic compounds analogous to ellipticine representes a critical endpoint in the understanding of this dramatic disease. A molecular modeling simulation on a dataset of 23 compounds, all of which comply with Lipinski&rsquo, s rules and have a structure analogous to ellipticine, was performed using the quantitative structure activity relationship (QSAR) technique, followed by a detailed docking study on three different proteins significantly involved in this disease (PDB IDs: SYK, PI3K and BTK). As a result, a model with only four descriptors (HOMO, softness, AC1RABAMBID, and TS1KFABMID) was found to be robust enough for prediction of the antileukemia activity of the compounds studied in this work, with an R2 of 0.899 and Q2 of 0.730. A favorable interaction between the compounds and their target proteins was found in all cases, in particular, compounds 9 and 22 showed high activity and binding free energy values of around &minus, 10 kcal/mol. Theses compounds were evaluated in detail based on their molecular structure, and some modifications are suggested herein to enhance their biological activity. In particular, compounds 22_1, 22_2, 9_1, and 9_2 are indicated as possible new, potent ellipticine derivatives to be synthesized and biologically tested.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn disease (CD) are the most common forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Because these subtypes of IBD are characterized by periods of activity and remission, an understanding of the modulation of biochemical markers with the clinical features of IBD or its treatment, may be useful for determining the correct treatment protocol. This study aimed to evaluate the serum levels of 27 protein biomarkers to determine their association with IBD, correlation with clinical findings of disease, and modulation according to the pharmacologic therapy. A case–control study was carried out in Zacatecas, Mexico. The 27 protein profiles of serum from 53 participants (23 UC, 11 CD, and 19 controls) were evaluated using the Pro Human Cytokine 27-Plex immunoassay (Bio-Rad).
