Background & Method: Aim of this study is to compare the efficacy of open fistulectomyvsfistulectomy and primary closure in treatment of low level fistula in ano at Bundelkhand Medical College and associate hospital, Sagar. 30 prospective patients and 30 retrospective patients were taken to make a total of 60 patients. All these were operated by either of two methods i.e. Open method (open fistulectomy) or fistulectomy with primary closure (closed fistulectomy). Type of procedure was decided by the operative surgeon. Result:In the period of 4 year, the common age group affected by low level fistula in ano found to be 31 to 40 years. The youngest patient was 17 years of age and the oldest 70 years. The average age was found to be 43.5 years. Study groups are divided on the basis of type of surgery out of total 60 patients. Closure method (fistulectomy with primary closure) consists of 30 (50%) patients. Open method (openfistulectomy) consists of 30(50%) patients. Conclusion:Closure method (Fistulectomy with primary closure) has a definitive superiority over Open method (open fistulectomy) and is recommended to be adopted as primary surgical modality for the treatment of low level fistula in ano. Rheumatoid arthritis affects about 24.5 million people worldwide as of 2015. Modern medicine still eludes satisfactory cure for this problem. Therefore, world is looking forward for some traditional medicines in this direction. In the present work, therapeutic efficacy of a Unani compound drug Habb-e-Asgand has been evaluated at Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Aligarh, during 2016-2018. A total of 68 patients were selected from the lot of patients attending outpatient department (OPD). The drug Habb-e-Asgand was given 2 tablets for 84 days and results evaluated statistically by one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Dennett’s’ test. The results of the present study were evaluated on clinical, biochemical, and haematological parameters have amply demonstrated that the drug Habb-e-Asgand is therapeutically effective in the treatment of Waja ‘al-mafasil (rheumatoid arthritis). High temperature stress during grain-filling period is one of the major environmental constraints limiting the grain yield of wheat in India. Crop growth response and relative performance of yield components of 12 wheat (Triticum aestivum) genotypes were studied in two date of sowing in crop research center (Pantnagar) to identify the causes of yield reduction in wheat particularly Leaf Area Index and its impact in yield loss and other tolerance mechanism and comparative study of LAI and yield attributes to identify the genotype for high temperature tolerance in late sown condition. The higher temperature enhanced plant growth, flowering, and maturation which ultimately effects the crop performance in case of yield (Leaf Area Index, grain weight/spike and test weight were drastically reduced in time under high temperature. Out of 12 diverse genotypes namely HI 1539, DBW 14, HW 5021, HS 240, PBW-574, Raj 4101, Lok 54, Raj 3765, WH 1021, K-0-307, HW 2045 and HI1544,four were (Lok54, Raj3765, HI1539 and HI1544 ) were characterized as high temperature tolerant based on their relative performance in leaf area index, grain yield and heat susceptibility index. Leaf area Index studies in context to heat stress in wheat is least studied area in heat tolerance research in wheat (Triticum aestivum), in the present study LAI is used as a screening tool for heat tolerance and effect of LAI in wheat yield. Hybrid tissue engineered (HTE) scaffolds constituting polymeric nanofibers and biological tissues have attractive bio-mechanical properties. However, they suffer from small pore size due to dense overlapping nanofibers resulting in poor cellular infiltration. In this study, using nanosecond (ns) laser, we fabricated micro-scale features on Polycaprolactone (PCL)-Chitosan (CH) nanofiber layered bovine pericardium based Bio-Hybrid scaffold to achieve enhanced cellular adhesion and infiltration. The laser energy parameters such as fluence of 25J/cm 2 , 0.1mm instep and 15 mark time were optimized to get structured microchannels on the Bio-Hybrid scaffolds. Laser irradiation time of 40μs along with these parameters resulted in microchannel width of ~50μm and spacing of ~35μm between adjacent lines. The biochemical, thermal, hydrophilic and uniaxial mechanical properties of the Bio-Hybrid scaffolds remained comparable after laser ablation reflecting extracellular matrix (ECM) stability. Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells and mouse cardiac fibroblasts seeded on these laser-ablated Bio-Hybrid scaffolds exhibited biocompatibility and increased cellular adhesion in microchannels when compared to non-ablated Bio-Hybrid scaffolds. These findings suggest the feasibility to selectively ablate polymer layer in the HTE scaffolds without affecting their bio-mechanical properties and also describe a new approach to enhance cellular infiltration in the HTE scaffolds., (Copyright © 2017 Elsevier B.V. Current treatment strategy for end stage valve disease involves either valvular repair or replacement with homograft/mechanical/bioprosthetic valves. In cases of recurrent stenosis/ regurgitation, valve replacement is preferred choice of treatment over valvular repair. Currently available mechanical valves primarily provide durability whereas bioprosthetic valves have superior tissue compatibility but both lack remodelling and regenerative properties making their utility limited in paediatric patients. With advances in tissue engineering, attempts have been made to fabricate valves with regenerative potential using various polymers, decellularized tissues and hybrid scaffolds. To engineer an ideal heart valve, decellularized bovine pericardium extracellular matrix (DBPECM) is an attractive biocompatible scaffold but has weak mechanical properties and rapid degradation. However, DBPECM can be modified with synthetic polymers to enhance its mechanical properties. In this study, we developed a Bio-Hybrid scaffold with non-cross linked DBPECM in its native structure coated with a layer of Polycaprolactone-Chitosan (PCL-CH) nanofibers that displayed superior mechanical properties. Surface and functional studies demonstrated integration of PCL-CH to the DBPECM with enhanced bio and hemocompatibility. This engineered Bio-Hybrid scaffold exhibited most of the physical, biochemical and functional properties of the native valve that makes it an ideal scaffold for fabrication of cardiac valve with regenerative potential., (Copyright © 2015 Elsevier B.V.
