The Adamello intrusive suite is a composite batholith in Northern Italy, with an estimated 2000 km3 volume, assembled incrementally over a time span of 10 to 12 million years. The history of crystallization has been studied in detail through laser ablation ICP-MS and SIMS U–Pb geochronology of zircon, which records prolonged crystallization of each of the different intrusive units at mid-crustal levels between 43·47 and 33·16 Ma. The magmas were episodically extracted from this storage area and ascended to the final intrusion level at ∼6 km paleo-depth. Each batch of melt cooled very rapidly down to the ambient temperature of 250°C, evidenced by distinct cooling paths recorded by amphibole, biotite and K-feldspar 40Ar/39Ar dates. The magma source area was moving from SW to NE with time, causing increasing thermal maturity in the mid-crustal reservoir. The resulting temporal trend of higher degrees of crustal assimiliation in the course of the evolution of the magmatic system can be traced through Hf and O isotopes in zircon. Rough estimates of magma emplacement rates ('magma flux') yield very low values in the range of 10-4 km3/yr, typical of mid-to-upper crustal plutons and increase with time. Although we cannot discern a decrease of magma flux from our own data, we anticipate that a dramatic decrease of magma flux between 33 and 31 Ma along the northern contact lead to cessation of magma emplacement. The Mont Blanc and Aiguilles Rouges massifs, which form part of the external crystalline massifs of the western European Alps, record a young and fast exhumation history, as established by an extensive low-temperature thermochronology and geochronology data set. Various kinematic and dynamic models for Oligocene to Neogene deformation and exhumation of the Aiguilles Rouges-Mont Blanc system have been proposed. However, the timing of deformation along major shear zones in and around the massifs, which is crucial to these models, is still controversial. Our new 40Ar/39Ar data from key deformation zones in the Mont Blanc area show that NW directed thrusting lasted from Oligocene to mid-Miocene times in the Mont Blanc massif before a NW-ward jump of the deformation front to below the Aiguilles Rouges massif, which led to updoming of the Aiguilles Rouges and Mont Blanc massifs. This deactivated the main NW verging shear zones and caused back-folding and back thrusting east of the Mont Blanc, as well as upward extrusion of the Aiguilles Rouges massif. Subsequently, there was a switch to more coaxial shortening between the Aiguilles Rouges and Mont Blanc massifs associated with strain partitioning and related dextral strike-slip deformation on the eastern side of the Mont Blanc massif. The Kirazlı deposit is located at the center of the Biga Peninsula metallogenic province, in a geological setting characterized by an extensional tectonic environment. A NNW-SSE trending high-sulfidation (HS) orebody with a total reserve of 33.86 Mt @ 0.69 g/t Au and 9.42 g/t Ag lies beneath the Kirazlı Main zone. A porphyry Cu orebody hosted by Eocene intrusive and volcanic rocks has been intersected by drilling within its vicinity. The HS epithermal deposit is hosted by a partly silicified and brecciated Oligocene volcanic and volcaniclastic sequence consisting mainly of basaltic andesite lava flow and lithic/crystal tuff. Lithogeochemistry and zircon U-Pb radiometric ages allow us to distinguish three distinct high-K calc-alkaline magmatic events at ca. 41, 38, and 32 Ma, sourced by metasomatized mantle melts, which have interacted with the crust during their ascent. Porphyry Cu mineralization took place at 36.7 ± 0.4 Ma (muscovite 40 Ar/ 39 Ar age) with subsequent re-opening and base metal deposition. Crosscutting quartz-pyrite-molybdenite veins were emplaced at 33.6 ± 0.2 Ma (molybdenite Re-Os age), and followed by the HS epithermal Au-Ag event at ca. 31 Ma, based on a previous study. Our radiometric data indicate that the Kirazlı deposit has recorded a long-lasting Cenozoic magmatic and metallogenic evolution during about 10 Myr. We present the results of U-Pb zircon dating conducted using laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS), isotopic tracing analyses of Hf in zircon and Sr-Nd in whole-rock and whole-rock major oxides, and trace element abundances of 12 plutonic and volcanic rocks present on the Antarctic Peninsula. The dataset is presented in combination with the results of previous studies conducted in both Patagonia and the Antarctic Peninsula. These results were filtered for concordant 206 Pb- 238 U zircon ages and topology of the 40 Ar/ 39 Ar age spectra. These results may be useful for researchers studying the geological evolution of southern Gondwana, West Antarctica or Patagonia. New Ar-Ar muscovite and Rb-Sr biotite age data in combination with structural analyses from the Apuseni Mountains provide new constraints on the timing and kinematics of deformation during the Cretaceous. Time-temperature paths from the structurally highest basement nappe of the Apuseni Mountains in combination with sedimentary data indicate exhumation and a position close to the surface after the Late Jurassic emplacement of the South Apuseni Ophiolites. Early Cretaceous Ar-Ar muscovite ages from structurally lower parts in the Biharia Nappe System (Dacia Mega-Unit) show cooling from medium-grade conditions. NE-SW-trending stretching lineation and associated kinematic indicators of this deformation phase (D1) are overprinted by top-NW-directed thrusting during D2. An Albian to Turonian age (110-90 Ma) is proposed for the main deformation (D2) that formed the present-day geometry of the nappe stack and led to a pervasive retrograde greenschist-facies overprint. Thermochronological and structural data from the Bihor Unit (Tisza Mega-Unit) allowed to establish E-directed differential exhumation during Early-Late Cretaceous times (D3.1). Brittle detachment faulting (D3.2) and the deposition of syn-extensional sediments indicate general uplift and partial surface exposure during the Late Cretaceous. Brittle conditions persist during the latest Cretaceous compressional overprint (D4).
