We measure the quantum efficiency (QE) of individual dibenzoterrylene (DBT) molecules embedded in para-dichlorobenzene at cryogenic temperatures. To achieve this, we apply two distinct methods based on the maximal photon emission and on the power required to saturate the zero-phonon line. We find that the outcome of the two approaches are in good agreement, reporting a large fraction of molecules with QE values above 50%, with some exceeding 70%. Furthermore, we observe no correlation between the observed lower bound on the QE and the lifetime of the molecule, suggesting that most of the molecules have a QE exceeding the established lower bound. This confirms the suitability of DBT for quantum optics experiments. In light of previous reports of low QE values at ambient conditions, our results hint at the possibility of a strong temperature dependence of the QE.

The small cross section of Raman scattering poses a great challenge for its direct study at the single-molecule level. By exploiting the high Franck-Condon factor of a common-mode resonance, choosing a large vibrational frequency difference in electronic ground and excited states and operation at T < 2K, we succeed at driving a coherent stimulated Raman transition in individual molecules. We observe and model a spectral splitting that serves as a characteristic signature of the phenomenon at hand. Integrated photonic circuits offer a promising route for studying coherent cooperative effects of a controlled collection of quantum emitters. However, spectral inhomogeneities, decoherence and material incompatibilities in the solid state make this a nontrivial task. Here, we demonstrate efficient coupling of a pair of organic molecules embedded in a plastic film to a TiO$_2$ microdisc resonator on a glass chip. Moreover, we tune the resonance frequencies of the molecules with respect to that of the microresonator by employing nanofabricated electrodes. For two molecules separated by a distance of about 8$\,\mu$m and an optical phase difference of about $\pi/2$, we report on a large collective extinction of the incident light in the forward direction and the destructive interference of its scattering in the backward direction. Our work sets the ground for the coherent coupling of several molecules via a common mode and the realization of polymer-based hybrid quantum photonic circuits.

We obtain a lower estimate for the Hilbert series of Jacobi algebras and their completions by providing analogue of the Golog-Shafarevich-Vinberg theorem for potential case. We especially treat non-homogeneous situation. This estimate allows to answer number of questions arising in the work of Wemyss-Donovan-Brown on noncommutative singularities and deformation theory. Vibrational levels of the electronic ground states in dye molecules have not been previously explored at high resolution in solid matrices. We present new spectroscopic measurements on single polycyclic aromatic molecules of dibenzoterrylene embedded in an organic crystal made of para-dichlorobenzene. To do this, we use narrow-band continuous-wave lasers and combine spectroscopy methods based on fluorescence excitation and stimulated emission depletion (STED) to assess individual vibrational linewidths in the electronic ground state at a resolution of ~30 MHz dictated by the linewidth of the electronic excited state. In this fashion, we identify several exceptionally narrow vibronic levels with linewidths down to values around 2GHz. Additionally, we sample the distribution of vibronic wavenumbers, relaxation rates, and Franck-Condon factors, both in the electronic ground and excited states for a handful of individual molecules. We discuss various noteworthy experimental findings and compare them with the outcome of DFT calculations. The highly detailed vibronic spectra obtained in our work pave the way for studying the nanoscopic local environment of single molecules. The approach also provides an improved understanding of the vibrational relaxation mechanisms in the electronic ground state, which may help to create long-lived vibrational states for applications in quantum technology.

We consider Sklyanin algebras $S$ with 3 generators, which are quadratic algebras over a field $\K$ with $3$ generators $x,y,z$ given by $3$ relations $pxy+qyx+rzz=0$, $pyz+qzy+rxx=0$ and $pzx+qxz+ryy=0$, where $p,q,r\in\K$. This class of algebras has enjoyed much attention. In particular, using tools from algebraic geometry Artin, Tate and Van Den Berg \cite{ATV2} showed that if at least two of the parameters $p$, $q$ and $r$ are non-zero and at least two of three numbers $p^3$, $q^3$ and $r^3$ are distinct, then $S$ is Artin--Schelter regular. More specifically, $S$ is Koszul and has the same Hilbert series as the algebra of commutative polynomials in 3 indeterminates. It has became commonly accepted that it is impossible to achieve the same objective by purely algebraic and combinatorial means like the Gr\"obner basis technique. The authors have previously dispelled this belief. However our previous proof was no less complicated than the one based on algebraic geometry. It used a construcion of a Gr\"obner basis in a suitable one-sided module over $S$ and had quite a number of cases to consider. In this paper we exhibit a linear substitution after which it becomes possible to determine the leading monomials of a reduced Gr\"obner basis for the ideal of relations of $S$ itself (without passing to a module). We also find out explicitly (in terms of parameters) which Sklyanin algebras are isomorphic. We present efficient coupling of single organic molecules to a gallium phosphide subwavelength waveguide (nanoguide). By examining and correlating the temporal dynamics of various single-molecule resonances at different locations along the nanoguide, we reveal light-induced fluctuations of their Stark shifts. Our observations are consistent with the predictions of a simple model based on the optical activation of a small number of charges in the GaP nanostructure., Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures

We report on cryogenic coupling of organic molecules to ring microresonators obtained by looping sub-wavelength waveguides (nanoguides). We discuss fabrication and characterization of the chip-based nanophotonic elements which yield resonator finesse in the order of 20 when covered by molecular crystals. Our observed extinction dips from single molecules reach 22%, consistent with the expected Purcell enhancements up to 11 folds. Future efforts will aim at efficient coupling of a handful of molecules via their interaction with a ring microresonator mode, setting the ground for the realization of quantum optical cooperative effects.

Molecules are ubiquitous in natural phenomena and man-made products, but their use in quantum optical applications has been hampered by incoherent internal vibrations and other phononic interactions with their environment. We have now succeeded in turning an organic molecule into a coherent two-level quantum system by placing it in an optical microcavity. This allows several unprecedented observations such as 99\% extinction of a laser beam by a single molecule, saturation with less than 0.5 photon, and nonclassical generation of few-photon super-bunched light. Furthermore, we demonstrate efficient interaction of the molecule-microcavity system with single photons generated by a second molecule in a distant laboratory. Our achievements pave the way for linear and nonlinear quantum photonic circuits based on organic platforms.

We give a complete classification of quadratic algebras A, with Hilbert series $H_A=(1-t)^{-3}$, which is the Hilbert series of commutative polynomials on 3 variables. Koszul algebras as well as algebras with quadratic Gr\"obner basis among them are identified. We also give a complete classification of cubic algebras A with Hilbert series $H_A=(1+t)^{-1}(1-t)^{-3}$. These two classes of algebras contain all Artin-Schelter regular algebras of global dimension 3. As far as the latter are concerned, our results extend well-known results of Artin and Schelter by providing a classification up to an algebra isomorphism., Comment: 79 pages

We give a complete description of quadratic potential and twisted potential algebras on 3 generators as well as cubic potential and twisted potential algebras on 2 generators up to graded algebra isomorphisms under the assumption that the ground field is algebraically closed and has characteristic different from 2 or 3. We also prove that for two generated potential algebra necessary condition of finite-dimensionality is that potential contains terms of degree three, this answers a question of Agata Smoktunowicz and the first named author, formulated in [AN]. Optomechanical systems provide a means for studying and controlling quantum effects in the motion of macroscopic objects. To date, quantum optomechanical effects have been studied in objects made from solids and gases. Here we describe measurements of quantum behavior in the vibrations of a liquid body. Specifically, we monitor the fluctuations of an individual acoustic standing wave in superfluid liquid helium, and find that it displays the characteristic signatures of zero-point motion and measurement back-action. This opens the possibility of exploiting the properties of liquids in general (and superfluid helium in particular) to access qualitatively new regimes of quantum optomechanics., Comment: 53 pages, 15 figures, 1 table (including supplementary information)

We present an example of a quadratic algebra given by three generators and three relations, which is automaton (the set of normal words forms a regular language) and such that its ideal of relations does not possess a finite Gr\"obner basis with respect to any choice of generators and any choice of a well-ordering of monomials compatible with multiplication. This answers a question of Ufnarovski. Presented in this paper are measurements of an optomechanical device in which various acoustic modes of a sample of superfluid helium couple to a fiber-based optical cavity. In contrast with recent work on the paraxial acoustic mode confined by the cavity mirrors, we focus specifically on the acoustic modes associated with the helium surrounding the cavity. This paper provides a framework for understanding how the acoustic modes depend on device geometry. The acoustic modes are observed using the technique of optomechanically induced transparency/amplification. In the book 'Quadratic algebras' by Polishchuk and Positselski [23] algebras with a small number of generators (n=2,3) are considered. For some number r of relations possible Hilbert series are listed, and those appearing as series of Koszul algebras are specified. The first case, where it was not possible to do, namely the case of three generators n=3 and six relations r=6 is formulated as an open problem. We give here a complete answer to this question, namely for quadratic algebras with dim A_1=dim A_2=3, we list all possible Hilbert series, and find out which of them can come from Koszul algebras, and which can not. As a consequence of this classification, we found an algebra, which serves as a counterexample to another problem from the same book [23] (Chapter 7, Sec. 1, Conjecture 2), saying that Koszul algebra of finite global homological dimension d has dim A_1 >= d. Namely, the 3-generated algebra A given by relations xx+yx=xz=zy=0 is Koszul and its Koszul dual algebra A^! has Hilbert series of degree 4: H_{A^!}(t)= 1+3t+3t^2+2t^3+t^4, hence A has global homological dimension 4., Comment: 16 pages, to appear in Journal of Noncommutative Geometry

Optomechanical systems couple an electromagnetic cavity to a mechanical resonator which is typically formed from a solid object. The range of phenomena accessible to these systems depends on the properties of the mechanical resonator and on the manner in which it couples to the cavity fields. In both respects, a mechanical resonator formed from superfluid liquid helium offers several appealing features: low electromagnetic absorption, high thermal conductivity, vanishing viscosity, well-understood mechanical loss, and in situ alignment with cryogenic cavities. In addition, it offers degrees of freedom that differ qualitatively from those of a solid. Here, we describe an optomechanical system consisting of a miniature optical cavity filled with superfluid helium. The cavity mirrors define optical and mechanical modes with near-perfect overlap, resulting in an optomechanical coupling rate ~3 kHz. This coupling is used to drive the superfluid; it is also used to observe the superfluid's thermal motion, resolving a mean phonon number as low as 11., Comment: 41 pages, 7 figures (including supplementary information). It became commonly accepted, that it is impossible to achieve the same objective by purely algebraic and combinatorial means, like the Groebner basis technique. The main purpose of this paper is to trace combinatorial meaning of the properties of Sklyanin algebras, such as Koszulity, PBW, PHS, Calabi-Yau, and to give a new constructive proof of the above facts due to Artin, Tate and Van den Bergh. Further, we study a wider class of Sklyanin algebras, namely the situation when all parameters of relations could be different. This class called generalized Sklyanin algebras. We classify up to isomorphism genralized Sklyanin algebras with polynomial Hilbert series.
