Based on the mean serum level of progesterone, patients were divided into two groups: progesterone <= 1 ng / ml and progesterone> 1 ng / ml. This study is conducted to investigate the relationship between serum progesterone levels and endometrial status on the day of HCG injection in women treated with assisted reproductive techniques (ART). mRNA vaccines represent a milestone in the history of vaccinology, because they are safe, very effective, quick and cost-effective to produce, easy to adapt should the antigen vary, and able to induce humoral and cellular immunity., Methods: To date, only two COVID-19 mRNA and one RSV vaccines have been approved. However, several mRNA vaccines are currently under development for the prevention of human viral (influenza, human immunodeficiency virus [HIV], Epstein-Barr virus, cytomegalovirus, Zika, respiratory syncytial virus, metapneumovirus/parainfluenza 3, Chikungunya, Nipah, rabies, varicella zoster virus, and herpes simplex virus 1 and 2), bacterial (tuberculosis), and parasitic (malaria) diseases., Results: RNA viruses, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV)-2, HIV, and influenza, are characterized by high variability, thus creating the need to rapidly adapt the vaccines to the circulating viral strain, a task that mRNA vaccines can easily accomplish; however, the speed of variability may be higher than the time needed for a vaccine to be adapted. mRNA vaccines, using lipid nanoparticles as the delivery system, may act as adjuvants, thus powerfully stimulating innate as well as adaptive immunity, both humoral, which is rapidly waning, and cell-mediated, which is highly persistent. Safety profiles were satisfactory, considering that only a slight increase in prognostically favorable anaphylactic reactions in young females and myopericarditis in young males has been observed., Conclusions: The COVID-19 pandemic determined a shift in the use of RNA: after having been used in medicine as micro-RNAs and tumor vaccines, the new era of anti-infectious mRNA vaccines has begun, which is currently in great development, to either improve already available, but unsatisfactory, vaccines or develop protective vaccines against infectious agents for which no preventative tools have been realized yet.

Introduction: Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a complex condition within the Spondyloarthritis (SpA) group. Recent studies have focused on the important role of the intestinal microbiota in maintaining immunological homeostasis, highlighting how intestinal dysbiosis may act as a trigger for autoimmune diseases. Tofacitinib is a Janus kinase inhibitor (JAK-i) with proven efficacy for the treatment of both rheumatoid arthritis and PsA. However, there is a lack of data on its ability to reduce joint remission through ultrasonography (US) and the effects it might have on the composition of the gut microbiota., Methods: Here, we present a case series of seven bio-naïve PsA patients who received tofacitinib treatment and were followed up for 12 months. The clinical response was assessed using validated scores (DAPSA, ASDAS, and BASDAI), laboratory tests, and US assessment of the target joint and enthesis. Finally, we evaluated changes in the composition of the intestinal microbiota using next-generation sequencing analysis of fecal samples., Results: The patients in the study showed a significant improvement in all clinical scores used; this improvement was also confirmed by a significant reduction in the US synovitis scores. The data on the microbiota analysis suggested that the effectiveness of tofacitinib in ameliorating PsA activity was associated with a relevant modification of some gut bacterial lineages. No cases of severe adverse effects were reported., Conclusions: Treatment with tofacitinib proved to be effective, safe and capable of varying the composition of the gut microbiota by selecting bacterial strains considered beneficial in immune modulation.

PSMA expression gradually increases from benign prostatic hyperplasia to adenocarcinoma of the prostate and is therefore used for the development of improved diagnostic (PSMA)-based prostate cancer imaging tools. Pharmacological induction of PSMA is therefore eminent to further improve the detection rate of PSMA-based imaging. Our previous studies have demonstrated that lovastatin (Lova) and dutasteride (Duta) are able to induce PSMA expression. However, the mechanisms by which PSMA is regulated in prostate cancer remain poorly understood. Androgen receptor (AR) and homeobox B13 (HOXB13) are the best known regulators of PSMA, hence in the present study we aimed to explore the PSMA regulation by HOXB13 and AR signaling in LNCaP and VCaP cells following treatments with Lova and Duta. Furthermore, our previous research revealed a growth arrest in prostate cancer cells after Lova, but not after Duta treatment. To understand this discrepancy, we explored the influence of Lova and Duta on well known tumor growth promoters, such as AR, the mTOR/Akt signaling pathways and Cyclin D1. Our results showed that treatment with Lova leads to a significant inhibition of the investigated tumor promoters and results in growth regression of LNCaP and VCaP cells. In contrast, Duta does not show these effects. In this work, we simulated water molecules confined in carbon, boron nitride (BN), and silicon carbide (SiC) nanotubes with similar sizes. We also simulated water molecules confined between parallel graphene, BN, and SiC surfaces in two cases: (a) a similar geometric surface density of water of 0.177/Å 2 , in which the number of gas molecules was 18% of the total water molecules, and (b) a similar density profile of water of 0.04-0.05 dalton per Å 3 . To examine H 2 hydrate formation, we added guest H 2 molecules to the confined water molecules in the nanotube and surface systems. We analyzed the formed shapes, adsorption energies, radial distribution functions (RDFs), and self-diffusion coefficients of the confined molecules in gas hydrate formation. Our results showed that a more ordered heptagonal ice nanotube was formed in the BN nanotube than that in the other systems. After the addition of H 2 molecules in the different nanotubes, some of the H 2 molecules occupied the wall of the ice nanotube and some of them positioned in the hollow space. Although gas hydrates were created in all surface systems, ordered gas hydrate shapes were formed only in the graphene system. The adsorption energy for guest H 2 molecules between the different surfaces was negative, which means that the formation of H 2 hydrates between these surfaces is a spontaneous process (unlike that in the nanotube systems). According to RDF results, the BN nanotube and graphene surfaces are proper systems to form more ordered H 2 hydrate structures. The confined water molecules have much higher diffusion coefficients in the BN nanotube and graphene surfaces than in the other systems. The F 4 parameter also substantiated hydrate formation in the different nanostructures. In a new configuration of BN and SiC systems with density profiles similar to that of the graphene system, the H 2 hydrate was not formed completely as in the case of the graphene system. Introduction: Clinical remission is the main target in the management of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, several authors found synovitis in patients with RA in clinical remission at ultrasonography (US). Upadacitinib is a selective Janus kinase 1 inhibitor that achieved significantly higher remission rates than adalimumab and abatacept in patients with RA. Here we present the 24-week data of the UPAdacitinib Rheumatoid Arthritis REmission UltraSonography (UPARAREMUS) study., Methods: This is a longitudinal multicenter observational study, enrolling bio-naïve and bio-inadequate responder patients affected by RA. The primary endpoint was the proportion of patients achieving both clinical and US remission at week 24. The proportion of patients achieving clinical remission with different composite indexes at week 12 and 24 was also evaluated. US of four target joints (wrists and second metacarpophalangeal bilaterally) was performed at baseline and weeks 12/24, and US remission was defined as the absence of power Doppler (PD) signal ≥ 2 in one target joint, or PD ≥ 1 in two target joints., Results: After 12 weeks and 24 weeks, 40% and 63.6% of patients achieved US plus clinical remission. The following parameters were associated with US plus clinical remission: being bio-naïve and having a shorter disease duration, although at multivariate analysis significant odds ratio (OR) was found only for being bio-naïve., Conclusions: UPARAREMUS is the first study evaluating the efficacy of upadacitinib in reaching both clinical and US remission in patients with RA. Objective: Abi, when used in conjunction with prednisone, is an established treatment for advanced PCa. Our goal was to explore the level of autophagy induced by Abi treatment, both alone and in combination with the autophagy inhibitor Chl, in a castrated mouse xenograft model., Methods: LNCaP cells were injected into the left and right sides of the back of nude mice that had been previously castrated. Mice were divided into four groups and treated daily with intraperitoneal injections of vehicle (control), Abi (10 mg/kg), Abi (10 mg/kg) combined with Chl (10 mg/kg), or Chl (10 mg/kg), and were monitored for periods of 2 and 3 weeks., Results: A significant reduction in tumor weight was observed in mice treated with the combination therapy, as opposed to those receiving vehicle control, Abi, or Chl alone. Mice receiving Abi + Chl exhibited reduced expression of ATG5, Beclin 1, and LC3 punctuations, along with an increase in P62, as determined by immunofluorescence and WES analysis. AR expression decreased significantly in all treatment groups compared to the control. PSMA expression was highest in the vehicle and combined treatment groups after 3 weeks, with a significant reduction observed with Chl treatment., Conclusions: These findings demonstrate that Abi + Chl treatment lowers autophagy levels and suppresses tumors more effectively than Abi alone.

With the substantial increase in the use of stimulants, especially methamphetamine, in recent years, the present study aimed to cluster methamphetamine users based on personality traits and self-efficacy, and compare their mental health, sleep quality, and the risk of relapse in the identified clusters. This cross-sectional study was conducted through convenience sampling on 501 methamphetamine users in addiction treatment centers in Kermanshah, western Iran. The data were collected using the Schwarzer General Self-Efficacy Scale, Zuckerman-Kuhlman Personality Questionnaire, Goldberg and Hiller General Health Questionnaire (GHQ), Zuckerman-Kuhlman Personality Questionnaire, and Stimulant Relapse Risk Scale (SRRS). A total of 501 methamphetamine users were distinguished into three clusters with frequencies of 111 (22.2%), 298 (59.5%), and 92 (18.4%) members through hierarchical cluster analysis. The participants in the first cluster were characterized by low self-efficacy, high neuroticism, sensation seeking, and aggressiveness, along with low extroversion and activity, low positive health, high negative health, low sleep quality, and high risk of drug relapse. The participants in the second cluster reported moderate levels of self-efficacy, neuroticism, sensation seeking, activity, and aggressiveness, high extroversion, and moderate levels of mental health, sleep quality, and the risk of relapse. Moreover, the participants in the third cluster reported the highest level of self-efficacy, the lowest level of neuroticism, sensation seeking, and aggressiveness, moderate extroversion and high activity, low relapse risk, high sleep quality, as well as high positive and low negative health symptoms. The third cluster was significantly different from the other two clusters in terms of the mentioned factors. The findings of this study suggest that low self-efficacy and the presence of neuroticism, sensation seeking, and high aggressiveness contribute to reduced mental health and sleep quality, as well as an increased risk of relapse in methamphetamine users., (© 2024. Metabolic reprogramming and mitochondrial dynamics are pivotal in prostate cancer (PCa) progression and treatment resistance, making them essential targets for therapeutic intervention. In this study, we investigated the effects of the androgen receptor antagonist apalutamide (ARN) and the mitochondrial electron transport chain complex I inhibitor IACS-010759 (IACS) on the mitochondrial network architecture and dynamics in PCa cells. Treatment with ARN and/or IACS induced significant changes in mitochondrial morphology, particularly elongation, in androgen-sensitive PCa cells. Additionally, ARN and IACS modulated the mitochondrial fission and fusion processes, indicating a convergence of metabolic and androgen-signaling pathways in shaping mitochondrial function. Notably, the combination treatment with ARN and IACS resulted in increased apoptotic cell death and mitochondrial oxidative stress selectively in the androgen-sensitive PCa cells. Our findings highlight the therapeutic potential of targeting mitochondrial metabolism in prostate cancer and emphasize the need for further mechanistic understanding to optimize treatment strategies and improve patient outcomes., Competing Interests: The authors declare no conflicts of interest.

Aim: Traffic accidents are caused by several interacting risk factors. This study aimed to investigate the interactions among risk factors associated with death at the accident scene (DATAS) as an indicator of the crash severity, for pedestrians, passengers, and drivers by adopting "Logic Regression" as a novel approach in the traffic field., Method: A case-control study was designed based on the police data from the Road Traffic Injury Registry in northwest of Iran during 2014-2016. For each of the pedestrians, passengers, and drivers' datasets, logic regression with "logit" link function was fitted and interactions were identified using Annealing algorithm. Model selection was performed using the cross-validation and the null model randomization procedure., Results: regarding pedestrians, "The occurrence of the accident outside a city in a situation where there was insufficient light" (OR = 6.87, P -value<0.001) and "the age over 65 years" (OR = 2.97, P -value<0.001) increased the chance of DATAS . "Accidents happening in residential inner-city areas with a light vehicle, and presence of the pedestrians in the safe zone or on the non-separate two-way road" combination lowered the chance of DATAS (OR = 0.14, P -value<0.001). For passengers, "Accidents happening in outside the city or overturn of the vehicle" combination (OR = 8.55, P -value<0.001), and "accidents happening on defective roads" (OR = 2.18, P- value<0.001) increased the odds of DATAS; When "driver was not injured or the vehicle was two-wheeled", chance of DATAS decreased for passengers (OR = 0.25, p-value<0.001). The odds of DATAS were higher for "drivers who had a head-on accident, or drove a two-wheeler vehicle, or overturned the vehicle" (OR = 4.03, P-value<0.001). "Accident on the roads other than runway or the absence of a multi-car accident or an accident in a non-residential area" (OR = 6.04, P-value<0.001), as well "the accident which occurred outside the city or on defective roads, and the drivers were male" had a higher risk of DATAS for drivers (OR = 5.40, P-value<0.001)., Conclusion: By focusing on identifying interaction effects among risk factors associated with DATAS through logic regression, this study contributes to the understanding of the complex nature of traffic accidents and the potential for reducing their occurrence rate or severity. According to the results, the simultaneous presence of some risk factors such as the quality of roads, skill of drivers, physical ability of pedestrians, and compliance with traffic rules play an important role in the severity of the accident. The revealed interactions have practical significance and can play a significant role in the problem-solving process and facilitate breaking the chain of combinations among the risk factors. Therefore, practical suggestions of this study are to control at least one of the risk factors present in each of the identified combinations in order to break the combination to reduce the severity of accidents. Background: Alcohol consumption has become very common among adolescents in recent years and its prevalence varies in different countries. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of alcohol consumption and related factors in adolescents aged 11 to 16 years., Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was performed on 288385 adolescents (girls, 53.9% of total) aged 11 to 16 years. In the present study, the GSHS data (2003-2018) available to public on the websites of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and WHO was used. To investigate the factors affecting alcohol consumption, univariate and multivariate logistics models with 95% confidence limits were used., Results: The overall prevalence of alcohol consumption in adolescents was 25.2%, which was 28.3% and 22.4% in boys and girls, respectively. Among the surveyed countries, the highest prevalence was in Seychelles (57.9%) and the lowest in Tajikistan (0.7). Multivariate analysis showed that the Age for 16 and more than 16 years old (OR = 3.08,95%CI: 2.54-3.74), truancy for more than 10 days (OR = 1.24, 95%CI: 1.08-1.43), loneliness at sometimes of the times (OR = 1.04, 95%CI: 1.01-1.07), insomnia at most of the times (OR = 1.85, 95%CI: 1.70-2.01), daily activity (OR = 1.03, 95%CI: 1.00-1.07), bullied for 1-9 Days in a month (OR = 1.24, 95%CI: 1.09-1.40), cigarette (OR = 4.01, 95%CI: 3.86-4.17), used marijuana for more than 10 days in a month (OR = 5.58, 95%CI: 4.59-7.78), had sex (OR = 2.76, 95%CI: 2.68-2.84), and suicide plan (OR = 1.48, 95%CI: 1.42-1.54) were important factors affecting drinking alcohol. In this study, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value were 42.79%, 93.96%, 70.80%, and 82.75., Conclusions: According to the results of the present study, the prevalence of alcohol consumption among teenagers was high. Background: Congenital bladder disorders in children necessitate innovative approaches for bladder tissue regeneration, aiming to minimize complications associated with conventional therapies. This study focused on generating a cell-seeded scaffold using superior smooth muscle cells (SMCs) by exploring the potential of smooth muscle cell spheroids (3D SMCs) compared to conventionally cultured SMCs (2D SMCs) for bladder tissue engineering. Additionally, adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) were investigated for their impact on SMC proliferation and maturation, and pre-differentiated smooth muscle-like ADSCs (pADSCs) for their potential as alternative cell source., Methods: 3D SMCs were seeded into a compressed collagen scaffold as monoculture and as co-culture with ADSCs or pADSCs and incubated for 2 weeks. Their contractile potential as well as proliferation and cell distribution within the scaffold were compared to conventionally cultured 2D SMCs by immunofluorescent staining and qRT-PCR., Results: 3D SMCs in collagen scaffolds exhibited significantly superior cell distribution, proliferation, and contractile marker expression compared to 2D SMCs. While ADSCs showed limited impact, co-culture with pADSCs enhanced contractile marker expression, though not surpassing 3D SMC monoculture., Conclusion: For the first time, a collagen scaffold seeded with 3D SMCs was generated and evaluated. This study recommends 3D SMCs as optimal building blocks for bladder tissue engineering, highlighting the potential of pADSCs as an alternative cell source. Prostate cancer (PCa) often becomes drug-treatment-resistant, posing a significant challenge to effective management. Although initial treatment with androgen deprivation therapy can control advanced PCa, subsequent resistance mechanisms allow tumor cells to continue growing, necessitating alternative approaches. This study delves into the specific metabolic dependencies of different PCa subtypes and explores the potential synergistic effects of combining androgen receptor (AR) inhibition (ARN with mitochondrial complex I inhibition (IACS)). We examined the metabolic behaviors of normal prostate epithelial cells (PNT1A), androgen-sensitive cells (LNCaP and C4-2), and androgen-independent cells (PC-3) when treated with ARN, IACS, or a combination. The results uncovered distinct mitochondrial activities across PCa subtypes, with androgen-dependent cells exhibiting heightened oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS). The combination of ARN and IACS significantly curbed cell proliferation in multiple PCa cell lines. Cellular bioenergetics analysis revealed that IACS reduced OXPHOS, while ARN hindered glycolysis in certain PCa cells. Additionally, galactose supplementation disrupted compensatory glycolytic mechanisms induced by metabolic reprogramming. Notably, glucose-deprived conditions heightened the sensitivity of PCa cells to mitochondrial inhibition, especially in the resistant PC-3 cells. Overall, this study illuminates the intricate interplay between AR signaling, metabolic adaptations, and treatment resistance in PCa. The findings offer valuable insights into subtype-specific metabolic profiles and propose a promising strategy to target PCa cells by exploiting their metabolic vulnerabilities.

Objectives : We aimed to analyse the incidence and severity of breakthrough infections (BIs) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients after a COronaVIrus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination booster dose. Methods : We enrolled 194 RA patients and 1002 healthcare workers (HCWs) as controls. Clinical, lifestyle and demographic factors were collected at the time of the third dose, and immunogenicity analyses were carried out in a subgroup of patients at 4-6 weeks after the third dose. Results: BIs were experienced by 42% patients (82/194) with a median time since the last vaccination of 176 days. Older age (>50 years; aHR 0.38, 95% CI: 0.20-0.74), receiving conventional synthetic disease modifying antirheumatic drugs (csDMARDs) (aHR 0.52, 95%CI: 0.30-0.90) and having a titre of neutralising antibodies >20 (aHR 0.36, 95% CI: 0.12-1.07) were identified as protective factors. Conversely, anti-IL6R treatment and anti-CD20 therapy increased BI probability. BIs were mostly pauci-symptomatic, but the hospitalisation incidence was significantly higher than in HCWs (8.5% vs. 0.19%); the main risk factor was anti-CD20 therapy. Conclusions: Being older than 50 years and receiving csDMARDs were shown to be protective factors for BI, whereas anti-IL6R or anti-CD20 therapy increased the risk. Higher neutralising antibody titres were associated with a lower probability of BI. If confirmed in a larger population, the identification of a protective cut-off would allow a personalised risk-benefit therapeutic management of RA patients.

Background: Pattern recognition of pedestrians' traffic behavior can enhance the management efficiency of interested groups by targeting access to them and facilitating planning via more specific surveys. This study aimed to evaluate the pedestrians' traffic behavior pattern by fuzzy clustering algorithm and assess the factors related to higher-risk traffic behavior of pedestrians. Study Design : This study is a secondary methodological study based on the data from a cross-sectional study., Methods: The fuzzy c-means (FCM), as a machine learning clustering method, was conducted to identify the pattern of traffic behaviors by collecting data from 600 pedestrians in Urmia, Iran via "the Pedestrian Behavior Questionnaire" (PBQ) and using 5 domains of PBQ. Multiple logistic regression was fitted to identify risk factors of traffic behaviors., Results: Results revealed two clusters consisting of lower-risk and higher-risk behaviors. The majority of pedestrians (64.33%) were in the lower-risk cluster. Subjects≤33 years old (Odds ratio [OR]=1.92, P<0.001), subjects with≤6 years of education (OR=1.74, P=0.010), males (OR=1.90, P=0.001), unmarried pedestrians (OR=3.61, P=0.007), and users of public transportation (OR=2.01, P=0.002) were more likely to have higher-risk traffic behavior., Conclusion: We identified traffic behavior patterns of Urmia pedestrians with lower-risk and higher-risk behaviors via FCM. Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-based imaging improved the detection of primary, recurrent and metastatic prostate cancer. However, in certain patients, a low PSMA surface expression can be a limitation for this promising diagnostic tool. Pharmacological induction of PSMA might be useful to further improve the detection rate of PSMA-based imaging. To achieve this, we tested dutasteride (Duta)-generally used for treatment of benign prostatic enlargement-and lovastatin (Lova)-a compound used to reduce blood lipid concentrations. We aimed to compare the individual effects of Duta and Lova on cell proliferation as well as PSMA expression. In addition, we tested if a combination treatment using lower concentrations of Duta and Lova can further induce PSMA expression. Our results show that a treatment with ≤1 μM Duta and ≥1 μM Lova lead to a significant upregulation of whole and cell surface PSMA expression in LNCaP, C4-2 and VCaP cells. Lower concentrations of Duta and Lova in combination (0.5 μM Duta + 0.5 μM Lova or 0.5 μM Duta + 1 μM Lova) were further capable of enhancing PSMA protein expression compared to a single compound treatment using higher concentrations in all tested cell lines (LNCaP, C4-2 and VCaP).

Introduction: COVID-19 vaccination of children can help reduce the severity of the infection and the death rate caused by it and also helps achieve herd immunity. The level of acceptance and high vaccination coverage is the main elements in the success of immunization programs. Children's vaccination is dependent on their parent's decision. This study aims to identify predictors of the children's COVID-19 vaccination accomplishment by their parents., Method: In this case-control study, 577 vaccinated children as cases and 366 un-vaccinated children as controls were randomly selected from the general population of Tabriz, Iran 2022, and their data were collected by telephone calls and interviews with the children's parents. Cases and controls were compared in terms of clinical and demographic factors of the child as well as the socioeconomic status (SES) of their parents by using a multivariable mixed-effect logistic regression model., Results: According to the results of the multivariable logistic regression, the age of the child (OR = 1.26 95% CI (1.14, 1.40), p-value < 0.001), previous COVID-19 infection of the child (OR = 1.92, 95% CI (1.21, 3.04), p-value < 0.001), having no underlying disease in the child (OR = 1.76, 95% CI (1.02, 3.02), p-value = 0.04), the dwelling place of the household (the high-level dwelling in compared to a low level (OR = 3.34, 95% CI (1.6, 6.64), p-value = 0.001), the middle level of dwelling compared with low level (OR = 4.87, 95% CI (2.46, 9.51), p-value < 0.001)), and Father's job (Employee and technician Fathers compared to worker fathers (OR = 2.99, 95% CI (1.55, 5.77), p-value = 0.001)) were significant independent predictors of children COVID-19 vaccination., Conclusion: Several demographic and socioeconomic factors were associated with children's vaccination. Older children, children without any underlying disease, children with a history of COVID-19 infection, and children of parents with higher levels of SES were more likely to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Objective: Stress is known as a conventional risk factor of cardiovascular disease. Nurses work in stressful environment and could be one of the target populations to be assessed for cardio metabolic risk factor. This study aimed to identify the association between perceived stress and cardio-metabolic risk factors in nurses who are prone for various metabolic diseases., Method: In this cross-sectional study, nurses from five different educational hospitals of Tehran University of Medical Science attended the study. A self-administered questionnaire as well as Perceived Stress scale were completed. All anthropometric indices and blood pressure were measured. After 10-12 hours of fasting, venous blood samples were taken and level of total cholesterol, triglyceride, high-density and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, fasting blood sugar and insulin level were determined. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 16 and a p value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant., Results: In total 273 nurses were recruited in this study. The mean age of participants was 35.01 ± 0.399 years old. The mean of perceived stress was 15.55 ± 5.04 with the minimum of 3 and maximum of 30. There was no significant association between perceived stress and cardio-metabolic risk factors. Results showed that there was a negative association between perceived stress and insulin level only in nurses who worked rotationally (β = - 0.195, p  = 0.048). Chronic administration of d-galactose (d-gal) in rodents reproduces the overproduction of reactive oxygen species of physiological aging. The present research shows for the first time distinct signatures on d-gal-induced aging (500 mg/kg, 6 weeks) and the preventive and protective potential of two vitamin D (50 IU) supplementation regimens (pre-induction and simultaneous, respectively) in two vital organs (heart and brain). d-gal-induced notorious alterations in working memory, a strong increase in brain malondialdehyde (MDA) oxidative levels, and strong downregulation of sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) in the heart and hippocampus and of calstabin2 in the heart. Cardiac and brain superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) enzymatic antioxidant capacities were damaged, brain calstabin2 was downregulated, and neuropathology was observed. Heart damage also included a moderate increase in MDA levels, serologic lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), total creatine kinase (CK) activities, and histopathological alterations. The used dose of vitamin D was enough to prevent cognitive impairment, avoid muscular damage, hamper cardiac and cerebral oxidative stress, and SIRT1 and calstabin2 downregulation. Most importantly, the potencies of the two preventive schedules depended on the tissue and level of study. The pre-induction schedule prevented d-gal-induced aging by 1 order of magnitude higher than simultaneous administration in all the variables studied except for SIRT1, whose strong downregulation induced by d-gal was equally prevented by both schedules. The benefits of vitamin D for oxidative stress were stronger in the brain than in the heart. Brain MDA levels were more sensitive to damage, while SOD and GPx antioxidant enzymatic activities were in the heart. In this order, the magnitude of SOD, MDA, and GPx oxidative stress markers was sensitive to prevention. In summary, the results unveiled distinct aging induction, preventive signatures, and sensitivity of markers depending on different levels of study and tissues, which are relevant from a mechanistic view and in the design of targeted interventions., Competing Interests: The authors declare no conflict of interest., (© 2023 The Authors. In this work, we simulated water molecules in fixed and rigid (15,0) CNTs and the confined water molecules formed a hexagonal ice nanotube in the CNT. After the addition of methane molecules in the nanotube, the hexagonal structure of confined water molecules disappeared and were replaced by almost all the guest methane molecules. The replaced molecules formed a row of water molecules in the middle of the hollow space of the CNT. We also added five small inhibitors with different concentrations (0.8 mol% and 3.8 mol%) to methane clathrates in CNT: benzene, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ionic liquid ([emim + ][Cl - ] IL), methanol, NaCl, and tetrahydrofuran (THF). We investigated the thermodynamic and kinetic inhibition behaviors of the different inhibitors on the methane clathrate formation in the CNT using the radial distribution function (RDF), hydrogen bonding (HB), and angle distribution function (ADF). Our results showed that the [emim + ][Cl - ] IL is the best inhibitor from both aspects. It was also shown that the effect of THF and benzene is better than that of NaCl and methanol. Furthermore, our results showed that the THF inhibitors tended to aggregate in the CNT, but the benzene and IL molecules were distributed along the CNT and can affect the inhibitor behavior of THF in the CNT. We have also examined the effect of CNT chirality using the armchair (9,9) CNT, the effect of CNT size using the (17,0) CNT, and the effect of CNT flexibility using the (15,0) CNT by the DREIDING force field.
