Cutaneous tuberculosis (TB) is the result of a chronic infection by Mycobacterium TB. The clinical manifestations are variable and depend on the interaction of several factors. TB and malignancy present global threats claiming millions of lives and inflicting formidable suffering worldwide. We present two cases of atypical, rare presentations of cutaneous TB. Cases of concurrent scrofuloderma and lupus vulgaris (LV) with miliary tuberculosis of the lung and cutaneous tuberculosis; atypical presentation of LV with concurrent HIV in a 10 year old child. Concurrent presentation of cutaneous TB with internal organ involvement is a rare entity in an immunocompetent asymptomatic individual like our patient. HIV coinfection with cutaneous TB has not been described in any of the childhood series published from India and ours is probably the first report of its kind. It is imperative that physicians have a high index of suspicion to quickly and effectively diagnose and treat these substantially morbid skin conditions.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) has an impact on all aspects of patients' life. It affects the quality of life and emotional well-being of a person. A great number of comorbidities occur in patients with AD, apart from the cutaneous features. This review is about the varied comorbidities of AD and its burden on the patient. There are three types of review: Scoping review; literature review; and nonsystematic review. There are various interrelated comorbidities in AD. Chronic pruritus and inflammation lead to psychosocial stress, anxiety, and depression. AD is associated with asthma, hay fever, food allergy, eosinophilic esophagitis, and allergic contact dermatitis. Other associations are cutaneous and extracutaneous infections of bacterial, viral, and fungal origin. AD is also associated with various autoimmune and cardiovascular diseases. AD is associated with several comorbidities which directly and indirectly affects the patient and their immediate family in terms of physical, mental, and emotional well-being. There is a need for such a review regarding the associations between AD and nonallergic conditions as the early detection and management improves the patient's overall wellbeing.

Hematohidrosis is a rare clinical condition in which an individual sweats blood from intact, unbroken skin. Psychogenic cause is found to be the most frequent among other causes such as vicarious menstruation and systemic disease. We report a case of a 9-year-old boy who had bloody sweat discharge from the face and pinna of the ears while going to school. Pharmacotherapy with oral propranolol and psychotherapy were followed by a complete remission.

Vorderman (1901) was the first to record blisters caused by beetles in medical literature. Blister beetle dermatitis is a cutaneous condition caused by the toxins released by blister beetles. The vesicant chemical in the body fluids of these insects causes an acute irritant contact dermatitis characterized by erythematovesicular lesions associated with burning sensation on exposed parts of the body. The aim of this study was to investigate the morphological patterns of blister beetle dermatitis. We conducted a 1-year (January–December 2014) prospective study of the clinical presentation of Paederus dermatitis noticed in urban and semiurban areas close to paddy fields in the Cauvery Basin, Mysuru, Karnataka. All patients with Paederus dermatitis attending the outpatient department of Department of Dermatology were recruited in the study with a total of 37 patients. Diagnosis was made on detailed history regarding onset of lesions, symptoms, as well as thorough clinical examination of the lesions. The peak time of presentation was June–September, the monsoon season in this part of India. The average duration of lesions at the time of presentation was 2–5 days. All patients had a history of burning and itchy sensation at night followed by full blown lesions the next morning, with the face, neck, and arms being the most common sites. Patients were predominantly males with the age range of 13–55 years. The most common presentations were linear erythematous plaques and erythematovesicles with a “burnt” appearance and a gray necrotic centre. “Kissing” lesions and periorbital involvement were seen in 5 and 6 patients, respectively. Species identification of the Paederus beetles was not done. Paederus dermatitis occurs in tropical regions. Awareness about the morphological patterns of the condition will prevent misdiagnosis. Simple preventive measures can be undertaken based on the behavioral pattern of this nocturnal beetle.
