- Abstract
Home security and safety are necessary. That’s why door locks were made; however, a high-security door lock system is still needed in today’s society. This study focused on improvingthe smart door lock with a facial recognition door lock system with an added fingerprintscanner and disinfectant to aid people's needs in terms of home security and health safety. The results present the precise prototype’s design, control system, and circuit connection. TheArduino Uno microcontroller, ESP32 cam, R307 fingerprint scanner, IR sensor, and allhardware components were programmed using the Arduino IDE software. The results oftesting the prototype’s speed when enrolling face and fingerprint was 15.13 seconds, whilewhen accessing the door lock, it resulted in 10.97 seconds. There's no delay when changingof the prototype’s main power supply to emergency batteries. The emergency power supplytested from the batteries fully charged up to drained and shows that at approximately 1 hourrun time, the system can be accessed to its full potential; however, when the batteries run timeat 2 hours, high supply voltage components can't operate well. The perception of therespondents was gathered through a given survey questionnaire that was separated into twoparts. First, the demographic profile of the respondents was presented using a pie graph. Thesecond part was the given ten indicators, which were presented using a line graph. The automatic door lock system prototype is sensor-based. The technologies used werecompatible with the microcontroller used and showed success in the operation of theprototype. The evaluation of the survey shows that respondents agree with the prototype.According to the findings, The implementation of the Automated door lock system with facialrecognition, fingerprint scanner, and disinfectant using Arduino as a microcontroller wasfunctional.

The main objective of this document is to evaluate NTRIP techniques and GNSS-VANT with RTK-based tools that help in the accuracy and optimization of resources in topographic surveys for multipurpose cadastral. The methodology used is to compare the results between NTRIP techniques and photogrammetric flights focused on the identification of the territory, seeking to identify which one is more efficient. The study area was located at south of the municipality of Guacarí, Valle del Cauca, the chosen area presents permanent updates due to the fact that it is part of the expansion zone of the municipality where a partial plan are being carried out. One of the relevant results is achieved by comparing the accuracies between the NTRIP technique and the photogrammetric flight. The execution time presents a decrease with the NTRIP technique, it was 5 hours while with the photogrammetric flight it is possible to capture the same area in a period of approx. 30 minutes achieving a difference between both precisions around 0.25m. - Abstract
This report presents the stock assessment results obtained by ICATMAR using its own data set and a data-resource limited (length-based) model (i.e. LBSPR) in the N GSA06. The results estimate that the Spawning Potential Ratio (SPR) for hake (HKE), red mullet (MUT) and blue and red shrimp (ARA) is under SPRlim. On the contrary, for deep-water rose shrimp (DPS), Norway lobster (NEP), European sardine (PIL) and anchovy (ANE), the estimated SPR is above SPRlim (Figure 1). In detail, for each species, the results are: Hake, red mullet and blue and red shrimp are under SPRlim for the four years evaluated and with the three scenarios tested. For the blue and red shrimp there is a negative trend in the SPR estimates. The deep-water rose shrimp stock is between SPRpa and SPRlim for all years and the four scenarios, with no clear trend. Norway lobster and European sardine are between SPRpa and SPRlim, or above SPRpa in some years, depending on the scenario. The Norway lobster has a negative trend, as opposed to the European sardine, which has a positive trend. Anchovy is above SPRpa and, in 2022, it is near the SPRtgt for all scenarios tested. The advice drawn from these models should be considered as qualitative, and the stocks are considered overexploited in all cases

- Abstract
Cuttlefish are an important global fisheries resource, and their demand is placing increasing pressure on populations in many areas, necessitating conservation measures. We reviewed evidence from case studies spanning Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia encompassing diverse intervention methods (fisheries closures, protected areas, habitat restoration, fishing-gear modifications, promoting egg survival, and restocking), and we also discuss the effects of pollution on cuttlefish. We conclude: (1) spatio-temporal closures need to encompass substantial portions of a species’ range and protect at least one major part of their life cycle; (2) fishing-gear modifications have the potential to reduce unwanted cuttlefish capture, but more comprehensive trials are needed; (3) egg survival can be improved by diverting and salvaging from traps; (4) existing lab rearing and restocking may not produce financially viable results; and (5) fisheries management policies should be regularly reviewed in light of rapid changes in cuttlefish stock status. Further, citizen science can provide data to reduce uncertainty in empirical assessments. The information synthesized in this review will guide managers and stakeholders to implement regulations and conservation initiatives that increase the productivity and sustainability of fisheries interacting with cuttlefish, and highlights gaps in knowledge that need to be addressed

The problem is located in the department of Casanare, municipality of Villanueva, where there are constant losses of square meters of land, delays in the delivery of plans and rising costs of the topographic surveys that are performed according to the methodology used, this leads to plots that are not suitable for sale, according to information provided by farmers in the sector through surveys, so we seek to determine by comparing the different survey methods (tape measure, station, level and Drone), which is the most viable for the surveys. Thus, when a field survey of a soccer field was performed, using the four methods to be compared, yielding very similar results, since it is evident that the Level methodology is the most time consuming and generates more errors in the data obtained. On the contrary, the use of Drone is the fastest for the collection of information and the one that generates less errors and more reliability, which is why it is concluded that the survey method using Drone is the most reliable and optimal for the purpose of this project. - Abstract
Small pelagic fish (SPF) in the western Mediterranean Sea are key elements of the marine food web and are important in terms of biomass and fisheries catches. Significant declines in biomass, landings, and changes in the age/size structure of sardine Sardina pilchardus and anchovy Engraulis encrasicolus have been observed in recent decades, particularly in the northern area of the western Mediterranean Sea. To understand the different patterns observed in SPF populations, we analyzed key life history traits [total length at age, length at maturity, gonadosomatic index (GSI), and body condition (Kn)] of sardine and anchovy collected between 2003 and 2017, from different fishing harbors distributed along a latitudinal gradient from northern to southern Spain. We used Generalized Linear Models (GLM) to estimate the length at maturity and Generalized Additive Models (GAMs) to test the relationship with environmental variables (seawater temperature, water currents, and net primary productivity). The life history traits of both species presented seasonal, interannual and latitudinal differences with a clear decline in length at age, length at first maturity, and body condition, for both species in the northern part of the study area. In the southern part, on the contrary, life history traits did not present a clear temporal trend. The environmental conditions partially explained the long-term changes in life history traits, but the selected variables differed between areas, highlighting the importance of regional oceanographic conditions to understand the dynamics of small pelagic fish. The truncated length-at-age pattern for both species with the disappearance of the larger individuals of the population could have contributed to the poor condition of small pelagic fish populations in the northern part of the western Mediterranean Sea in recent years. In the south area, recent declines in body condition for sardine and anchovy were observed and could be a possible first s

- Abstract
[EN] Small-scale fishers are often identified as key players in the recovery of overexploited fish and invertebrate stocks supplying food for rural people and contributing to achieving healthy marine ecosystems. Stocks harvested by small-scale fisheries tend to be largely unassessed, but methods based on the data-limited toolbox exist that help provide information on exploitation status for fished stocks that do not have historical time series of catches, as usually occur in small-scale fisheries. Many of the data-limited methods follow length-based assessment approaches, which assume steady state, use at least length structure derived from fishery and knowledge on the life history parameters of the fished species. Accordingly, this thesis aimed at addressing the reliability of data-poor stock assessment methods in providing advice on the status of small-scale fisheries lacking knowledge of catch history. The data-rich bottom trawl fishery for European hake (Merluccius merluccius) in GSA 06 (Northwest Mediterranean Sea) was assumed as data-limited. This case study allowed me to test the performance of the pseudo-cohort Virtual Population Analysis (VPA) when input data are considered well known and unbiased. The same fishery but held in GSA 01 (Southwest Mediterranean Sea) was used as data-limited case study to introduce the uncertainty derived from parameterizing the length-based spawning potential ratio (LB-SPR) model with two contrasting growth hypotheses. Acknowledging challenges faced by stock assessment of small- scale fisheries around the world, I considered high input-data bias and large outputs uncertainty. The effect of biases in fishery data and uncertainty in life-history parameters on the outputs of the pseudo-cohort VPA model was explored by assessing the small-scale Wayuu fisheries for lane snapper (Lutjanus synagris) and white grunt (Haemulon plumierii) in the northern Colombian Caribbean Sea. An extreme, but common, case of uncertainty in small-scale fisheries was explored through assessing the beach fishery of the Peruvian grunt (Anisotremus scapularis) in the central coast of Peru on the Pacific Ocean, holding poor information on life-history parameters and catches. My findings indicate that the pseudo-cohort VPA may offer useful information regarding the exploitation trend but the absolute values of the indicators do not accurately express the fishing mortality and stock size among years for the European hake. The SPR estimates for this species is not specially linked to the growth hypothesis, and estimates of the ratio of fishing mortality to natural mortality (F/M) and the SPR value depend on the sample size and representation of the stock structure. The contribution of the information derived from the participatory monitoring of small-scale fisheries in Colombia, instead of using only official fishery data, largely demonstrated an improving picture of the exploitation of the lane snapper and white grunt. The uncertainty related to estimates of the von Bertalanffy growth parameters and natural mortality of the Peruvian grunt could be addressed but an accurate definition of SPR was not straightforwardly achieved. This thesis highlights that the data-limited methods assuming a steady state might contribute to defining the status of the small-scale fisheries. However, the stock status is importantly affected by bias in the input data, the available knowledge on the assessed fisheries and how fishery fit the model assumptions, [ES] Los pescadores artesanales se identifican generalmente como actores claves en la recuperación de poblaciones sobreexplotadas, en el suministro de alimento a poblaciones rurales y en contribuir a alcanzar ecosistemas marinos saludables. This thesis used four case studies to provide a wide view of the stock assessment issues for small-scale fisheries. Future Oceans2 Integrated Marine Biosphere Research (IMBeR) Open Science Conference, 17-21 June 2019, Brest, France, Small pelagic fishes (SPF) in the western Mediterranean Sea are key elements of the marine food web and are important in terms of biomass and catches. Significant declines in biomass, landings and changes in the age/size structure of European anchovy Engraulis encrasicolus and European sardine Sardina pilchardus have been observed in recent decades in the northwestern Mediterranean Sea (in GSA06 Northern Spain and GSA07 Gulf of Lions, France). Instead, SPF in the southwestern Mediterranean Sea (GSA01 Alboran Sea, Spain) showed different patterns without a clear trend. Fluctuations of SPF have been related to local and regional scale environmental changes, driving annual recruitment and growth, mainly by river runoff, temperature and primary production. To understand the different patterns observed in SPF populations in the western Mediterranean Sea, we analysed seasonal and inter-annual variability of key life-history traits (size at first maturity, gonadosomatic index and body condition) collected in different fishing harbours of Spain distributed along a latitudinal gradient from Tarragona and Torrevieja, in GSA06, norther Spain, to Malaga, in GSA01, southern Spain. Results showed a clear decline in size at first maturity and body condition of sardine and anchovy since 2008 until 2017, with minimum values in 2012 and 2014 in the north of the area. On the contrary, in the south inter-annual fluctuations in body condition did not present a clear temporal trend while size at first maturity increased. However, in absolute terms, levels of energy stored and energy invested in reproduction were lower in the southern area compared with the northern populations. Maximum values of body condition of European sardine also differed between areas at seasonal scale. The decline in size at first maturity may have been translated into lower reproductive capacity in the north, since younger females have proportionally lower fecundity and shorter spawning season. Overall, the most plausible combined causes to explain observed changes in life-history traits of small pelagic fish in the western Mediterranean Sea were (1) a combination of environmental factors affecting the body condition, (2) a phenotypic selection by fisheries for the individuals that mature earlier and (3) the disappearance of larger and older individuals due to historical overfishing. The decline in body condition and size at first maturity of both species should be taken into account when evaluating the commercial stocks since natural mortality may have increased and earlier maturation, in combination with the removal of older individuals, could highly reduce the reproductive potential of the stocks. This study highlights the importance of understanding the trade-off between the energy invested in reproduction, maintenance and growth to better predict how environmental and human pressures influence population dynamics of small pelagic fish

Life-history parameters of both species were reviewed and new estimates of the von Bertalanffy growth parameters (improving the value of t0) were used. The input data to the stock assessment model were updated, as required (including the natural mortality parameter, M). The new estimates for the growth parameters were for European sardine: Linf = 20.1 cm TL, k = 0.817 yr-1, t0 = -0.246 yr, and for European anchovy: Linf = 18.0 cm TL, k = 0.984 yr-1, t0 = -0.255 yr. - Abstract
During the last years small pelagic fish species (SPF), such as European sardine (Sardina pilchardus) and European anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus), have experimented changes in their abundance, biomass and spatial distribution in the Northwestern Mediterranean Sea. Different hypotheses have been related to these changes, such as: (1) an increase in fishing impact, (2) changes in the environmental conditions that can directly influence annual recruitment, growth and condition of organisms; (3) the recent recovery of some pelagic predators such as Bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus); and (4) inter-specific competition for food between the expanding round sardinella (Sardinella aurita). We firstly tested these hypotheses in the northwestern Mediterranean Sea (in Geographical Sub-Areas GSA06, Spain, and GSA07, France) using a statistical modelling approach in order to understand which one of these factors may have mostly affected these species, and secondly we developed scenarios to predict their future biomass and distributions using a multi-modelling platform. In particular, using a spatial Redundancy Analysis (RDA) we tested the four mentioned main hypotheses as possible causes of European sardine and anchovy observed biomass declines in the area. Secondly, we modeled future environmental and management scenarios including IPCC projected environmental variables using Species Distribution Models and a food-web modeling approach (Ecopath with Ecosim -EwE). Spatial RDAs highlighted that the variability in the distribution of sardine in Spain (GSA06) was due to a combination of effects that included environmental conditions (bathymetry, sea surface temperature, primary production and sea surface salinity), fishing factors (considering AIS and VMS intensity), the expansion of the occurrence of Bluefin tuna feeding habitat, as well as an increase of round sardinella. Similar results were found for European anchovy in this area, although fishing factors were the most important

- Abstract
[EN] Management alternatives based on fishing effort for the demersal fisheries in the western Mediterranean were tested, with the novelty of examining management alternatives at temporal scales smaller than one year. Nine scenarios were considered on the basis of input control: decrease in the number of fishing days, which may correspond to cessation of activity of vessels or lower activity of the fleet; and implementation of seasonal closures of one-, two- and three-month duration in winter, spring, summer and autumn. The approach is based on a multispecies and multigear bioeconomic model. We selected a total of ten species (Merluccius merluccius, Nephrops norvegicus, Mullus barbatus, Mullus surmuletus, Parapenaeus longirostris, Lophius piscatorius, Lophius budegassa, Aristeus antennatus, Phycis blennoides and Lepidorhombus boscii) and seven fleets, defined as a combination of fishing gear (bottom trawl, entangling nets and longline) and fleet segment. A similar decrease in F is achieved with a 20% reduction of fishing effort (days) or with two- to three-month closures. Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY) for all stocks would be achieved only with such a drastic reduction of fishing effort ( > 80% of fishing days by the end of the five years of simulation) that, in practice, its application can be considered unrealistic, since it would represent a very low activity of all fishing fleets over the year, [ES] Se investigaron alternativas de gestión, basadas en el esfuerzo de pesca, para las pesquerías demersales del Mediterráneo occidental, con la novedad de analizar alternativas de gestión a escalas temporales inferiores a 1 año.

- Abstract
In this work, we introduce a modified hologram plane constraint to improve the accuracy of the global Gerchberg–Saxton (GGS) algorithm used for multiplane phase-only hologram generation. This constraint consists of a modified phase factor that depends on the amplitude of the field in the hologram plane. We demonstrate that this constraint produces an increase in the mean correlation coefficient between the reconstructed planes from a multiplane hologram and the corresponding amplitude targets for each plane. Furthermore, this constraint can be applied together with a mixed constraint in the reconstruction planes, leading to a more uniform and controllable reproduction of a target intensity distribution. To confirm the validity of our proposal, we show numerical and experimental results for multiplane holograms with six discrete planes, using both high and low contrast targets. For the experimental results, we implement a holographic projection scheme based on a phase-only spatial light modulator.
