1. A Study of Students' Preferences in the Information Resources of the Digital Learning Environment

Abstract

The digital learning environment comprises various resources - didactically transformed and untransformed information, and mediated communication. Students' information behaviour combines both actions characteristic of the traditional educational process and specific for the digital environment, based on digital tools and user interactions. Students' information behaviour in the digital environment is considered as an indicator of their engagement in various educational activities that contribute to the personalisation of learning. The results of a survey on students' preferences of information resources in the digital environment show that learners use a variety of information sources, but they mainly apply the methods of work in the "traditional" learning paradigm. They insufficiently use the digital environment potential of collaboration, knowledge exchange, and knowledge extraction from authentic sources. Obtained data indicates problems in students' information culture and shortcomings in the methodological support of students' autonomous work. Based on the results, recommendations on creating conditions for developing students' prospective strategies of interaction with digital resources are proposed. These recommendations include a gradual increase of the authentic digital learning resources, an account of students' information preferences, and a particular attention to the management issues in the digital learning environment.

Abstract

The paper presents the summary data of the authors' research within the framework of the OLIMPIYA project (the Russian acronym of {\bf OLI}viny iz {\bf M}eteoritov --- {\bf P}oisk tyazholykh {\bf I} sverkhtyazholykh {\bf YA}der / Olivines from meteorites: Search for heavy and superheavy nuclei) and results of track analysis for heavy cosmic ray nuclei (\emph{Z} = 26--129) in olivine crystals from meteorites using an original processing technique. A total of 21,743 tracks of nuclei heavier than iron have been identified in meteoritic matter to date to form the largest database within this charge range. The database includes three tracks of superheavy nuclei with the lifetimes of about a few decades, which can be considered as direct experimental evidence for the existence of natural superheavy nuclei from the "island of stability". Comprehensive comparative analysis of data from two meteorites with different cosmic ray exposure ages, Marjalahti (from 178 to 205 Myr) and Eagle Station (from 35 to 71 Myr), is presented for the first time. 4. First-Principle Study of Adsorption and Desorption of Chlorine on Cu(111) Surface. Does Chlorine or Copper Chloride Desorb?

Abstract

First-principle density-functional calculations have been applied to study the interaction of molecular chlorine with the (111) plane of copper. Using transition-state search method, we considered the elementary processes (Cl$_2$ dissociation, adsorption, diffusion, association and desorption) on the chlorinated Cu(111) surface. A systematic study of possible desorption pathways has been carried out for different species (Cl, Cl$_2$, CuCl, CuCl$_2$, and Cu) at various chlorine coverage. As a result, we concluded that chlorine monolayer irrespective of the coverage desorbs in the form of CuCl molecules from step edges.

Abstract

This paper presents a DFT study for phosphine adsorption on a Si(001)-2$\times$1 surface covered by a chlorine monolayer, including adsorption on local defects, i.e. mono- and bivacancies in the adsorbate layer (Cl, Cl$_2$), and combined vacancies with removed silicon atoms (SiCl, SiCl$_2$). Activation barriers were found for the adsorbing PH$_3$ to dissociate into PH$_2$+H and PH+H$_2$ fragments; it was also established that phosphine dissociation on combined vacancies is possible at room temperature. If there is a silicon vacancy on the surface, phosphorus settles in the Si(001) lattice as PH (if the vacancy is SiCl) or as PH$_2$ (if the vacancy is SiCl$_2$). This paper suggests a method to plant a separate phosphorus atom into the silicon surface layer with atomic precision, using phosphine adsorption on defects specially created on a Si(001)-2$\times$1-Cl surface with an STM tip.

Abstract

The process of decentralization of power and governance, which takes place in Ukraine through the voluntary unification of territorial communities, has laid the foundations for reforming the administrative territorial structure and territorial organization of power. Taking into account the state making nature of these transformations in the context of Ukraine’s European integration efforts, the article substantiates theoretical and applied fundamentals of branding of cultural tourism objects of the united territorial communities (UTC), reveals his role in constructing local identity of these social and spatial formations. The methodology of the study covers three main thematic blocks: legal and political foundations of the creation of a UTC; features of UTC branding; conceptualization and classification of brand projects of cultural tourism objects of the UTC. The factors that inhibit the branding process of cultural tourism objects of these communities were identified, conclusions were drawn, and perspective directions for further scientific exploration were outlined.

35. PBr3Adsorption and Dissociation on the Si(100) Surface

Abstract

The adsorption of PBr3on the Si(100)-2 × 1 surface was studied by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and density functional theory (DFT). The PBr3molecule completely dissociates on the Si(100) surface at room temperature into P and Br atoms. In most cases, the dissociated molecule was observed in STM on three neighboring Si dimers. DFT calculations confirm that the PBr3molecule can completely dissociate at room temperature. After annealing the sample to 400 °C, phosphorus is incorporated into silicon, as evidenced by the Si atoms ejected to the surface. These findings are useful for the insertion of individual phosphorus atoms into silicon by PBr3adsorption through a halogen mask.
