The coronavirus pandemic has affected life and left one of the strongest negative effects on sport. The aim of our study was to evaluate how a simple exercise performed with elastic resistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, when athletes cannot train, affects the basic shooting characteristics of ball hockey players. Extra-league ball hockey players (N = 30, age 19–37 years) were randomly divided into an experimental group, which performed elastic resistance exercises with Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) elements for eight weeks, and a control group, which did not perform any exercises. Before the start of the experiment and after it was completed, the speed and accuracy of shooting were measured. In experimental group, there was no decrease after 8 weeks in the shooting speed, and in the control group, there was a statistically significant decrease. There was a deterioration in the accuracy of shooting in both groups, however, in the experimental group, the deterioration was not significant. The results show that even three simple exercises with elastic resistance according to the PNF concept performed 10 times per day for eight weeks can maintain the level of basic skills of ball hockey players—the speed and accuracy of shooting—even when no other training is performed.

A very popular method in the field of prevention, sports, and therapy is flossing, working with an elastic band. A number of effects have been reported with this approach, but there are so far only a few studies to objectivize the declared effects. The aim of our study was to determine the change in the blood supply to the musculus biceps brachii during and after the flossing method applied to the upper limb in the area of the shoulder joint. The study recruited 27 healthy respondents (23.3 ± 2.8 years old). Measurement of the blood flow was performed on a Précisé 8008 (Ulrichstein, Germany) a device for measuring transcutaneous oxygen (tcpO2) before, during the 2-min compression therapy applied in the area of the shoulder joint, and after. We noted that both upper limbs, the limb where the application was performed and the opposite limb reached significant changes in the blood flow in musculus biceps brachii. Due to the significant depression of perfusion after only 2 min of flossing, great caution is required when performing the flossing method. The “sponge effect,” which means that after the occlusion is removed, the perfusion increases rapidly, was not confirmed by our study.

Effectivity of Combined Rhythmic Auditory Stimulation Rehabilitation Approach on Gait post Stroke Abstract Background: this review is assessing the effectiveness of combing forms of rhythmic auditory stimulation (a form of neurologic music therapy) to commonly used physiotherapeutic methods in the treatment of gait for hemiplegic/paresis stroke patients. Aim: to evaluate the extent in which Rhythmic Auditory Stimulation (RAS) combined therapy has a positive effect on gait for stroke patients, and whether RAS combined therapy is a more effective approach than conventional physiotherapeutic approaches. Name: The effects of binaural beats on sleep quality: a systematic review Aims of the study: The main objective of this study is to present the possibilities of influencing stress and sleep, to determine the effect of binaural beats (BB) stimulation on sleep quality and parameters, and to determine the specifics of effective BB therapy based on the available data. Materials and methods: This systematic review includes scientific articles and clinical studies published in relevant and/or peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Three electronic databases (Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed) were searched for all available sources published from 2000 to January 2023 in English language. The search was conducted using relevant keywords and their combinations. The screening and subsequent process of elimination was based on set of eligibility and inclusion criteria. Name: Brain Activity Evaluation Using sLORETA Imaging During Imagination and Induction of Flow State The aim of the study: The aim of this work was to use sLORETA imaging to capture changes in the source brain activity before and after a 3-week movement imagination training. With the help of subjective questionnaires, the second goal was to capture and compare the potential progress of the flow state also within the imagination training. Methods: 13 healthy probands in the age range of 20-30 years participated in the study. Brain source activity was measured using a surface telemetric 32-channel EEG device Nicolet TM EEG Wireless Amplifier 32/64 from Natus Neurology. The subjects underwent EEG measurements twice, always before the start of the imagination training and after its end. Measurements were performed identically in the following order: 1) resting EEG: 5 min eyes closed, 5 min eyes open; 2) watching video in VR: 3 min + 5 min pause; 3) imagination of movement: 3 min. Effect of respiratory muscle training on Smokers and Non-smokers The aim of this study is to find out the effect of respiratory muscles training on smokers and non-smokers, and how it affects the pulmonary function. For the measurement different tools were used, such as Spirometry, Spirovis, and Ergometer. All the candidates were between the age of 25-35 years, with no health problems. The 16 candidates were divided into two groups, 8 candidates in the smokers group (the people who smokes), and the other 8 people in the non-smokers group (the people who don't smoke). Both the groups went through the initial examination, then suggested exercises for 14 days regularly and then finally the final examination. For the measurement FEV1, FVC, MEF, PEF, PWC170, VO2 max, Inspiratory and Expiratory pressures were used. For the evaluation Paired T-test, Effect size and common variance were used. As a result, the intervention exercises had a positive effect on both the groups but a little more on the smokers as compared with the other group. Zuzana Krausová Title: Therapy of patients with idiopathic scoliosis - preferences, opinions and contentment of physiotherapy students in the Czech Republic with the content of education Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the preferences, opinions and contentment of physiotherapy students in the Czech Republic with the content of education in relation to the topic of therapy of patients with idiopathic scoliosis. Methods: A non-standardized questionnaire containing 41 questions was used to collect data. The target group for this research was physiotherapy students. The research population consisted of 190 respondents. The students were given the opportunity to express their opinions with respect to the educational content on idiopathic scoliosis through closed and open-ended questions in the questionnaire survey. Results: The results of the work show that more than 60% of the students who completed the questionnaire survey are not satisfied with their knowledge and skills they have acquired during their studies with regard to the topic of idiopathic scoliosis. Goal The aim of our experimental study to combine one resistance-training exercise (Bulgarian Split Squat Exercise) with three types of stretching exercises (static, dynamic, and combination stretching exercises) to find which protocol has positive effective in improving the short-sprint time performance in 20 meters for semi-professional college football players in five sessions in acute term- phase (10days). Methodology The number of participants was 20 male healthy semi-professional college football players. They were all between the age of 18 - 30 (means 25.5). Name: Electrical cerebral activity changes during targeted emotional stimulation, evaluated by sLORETA Goals: The main goal of this thesis is the comparison of electrical brain activity changes during targeted emotional stimulation. Method: The research was conducted by measuring electrical cerebral activity using Natus Neurology 32-channel Nicolet™EEG Wireless Amplifier 32/64 device. The activity measurements were taken by an EEG Electro-cap with a total of 19 flat registration electrodes (Fp1, Fp2, F7, F3, Fz, F8, T5, T3, C3, Cz, C4, T4, T6, P3, Pz, 36 P4, O1, O2), placed in accord with the internationally used 10-20 system. The impendance resistance did not exceed 10 kΩ, with a sampling frequency of 512 Hz and a bandpass of 0,5-70 Hz. Resulting data was then processed using NeuroGuide programme. Title: The Most Common Boxing Injuries, Possibilities of Prevention and Follow-up Physiotherapy Objectives: The main objective of this master thesis is to ascertain the most common injuries among amateur and professional boxers in the Czech Republic. Another objective is to evaluate, if the boxers practice any form of regeneration and whether they use physiotherapy as a prevention tool to the occuring injuries. Methods: Theoretic information in this thesis was obtained via research of available Czech and foreign literature. Second part of the thesis was done with a created non- standardized questionnaire, which was distributed online among boxers in the Czech Republic. Boxers were asked about their suffered injuries, regeneration and possibilities of physiotherapy. Conclusions were done after a statsitical analysis of the data. Results: 120 boxers (male and female) participated in this research (aged 18 - 40). The most common injury in training in amateurs and professionals were hand contusions (41 % and 65 % respectively). Title: Change in blood flow to m. biceps femoris when applying compression therapy Objectives: The primary objective of this thesis is to investigate the changes in blood flow to m. biceps femoris when applying tissue flossing technique. Another objective is to evaluate the changes in ischiocrural muscle flexibility before and after applying this technique. Methods: There are 33 healthy participants (20 women, 13 men) between the ages of 18 and 35 (mean age: 24,06 ±2,21) who took part in the experimental research. The initial test evaluated the flexibility of the ischiocrural muscles flexibility of the right lower limb (RLL), followed by the application of tissue flossing for 90 seconds on the right thigh. After releasing the flossband, a control test was performed to evaluate the flexibility of the ischiocrural muscles of the RLL. The elavulation of the change in blood flow was assessed using the Medicap Précisé 8008 device, and the change of the ischiocrural muscles flexibility was measured by the size of the Black's popliteal angle. Background Physiotherapy represents a valuable intervention applied to COVID-19 patients suffering from respiratory symptoms. Objective To assess the effectiveness of physiotherapeutic modalities on pulmonary function, physical function, and psychosocial effect of patients diagnosed with COVID-19. Methods A comprehensive systematic literature search of CINAHL, PubMed, Embase, Cochrane library, and Scopus was done to retrieve potential peer-reviewed articles that assessed the effectiveness of physiotherapeutic modalities on pulmonary function, physical function, and psychosocial effect of patients diagnosed with COVID-19. Results Of the 1093 potential articles assessed, 9 met the inclusion criteria. The results demonstrated that respiratory rehabilitation improves respiratory function, exercise capacity, and quality of life in patients diagnosed with COVID-19. Conclusion Respiratory rehabilitation and telerehabilitation programs are effective in improving the functional capacity, quality of life, and respiratory function of patients diagnosed with COVID-19. Title: Preferences and knowledge of physiotherapists in the field of idiopathic scoliosis in the Czech Republic Objectives: The aim of this diploma thesis is to evaluate the preferences and knowledge of physiotherapists in the field of treatment of idiopathic scoliosis in the Czech Republic in relation to their education, the length of their experience with patients with idiopathic scoliosis and postgraduate courses. Methods: The questionnaire was created by experts in the treatment of idiopathic scoliosis from different European countries. A total of 221 respondents (from the Czech Republic) participated in the survey. The evaluation was then carried out using Microsoft Excel. Results: The percentage of correct answers of the group of respondents with higher education exceeded the percentage of correct answers of therapists with lower education in each of our selected questions. Simona Židlíková Effect of acupressure in the treatment of migraine Aims: The aim is to assess the effect of acupressure in the treatment of female migraineurs who are taking triptan medicine. Methods: Migraineurs who are taking triptan medicine took part in the experiment. A total of 20 test subjects participated in the research. The research sample was randomly divided into experimental and control groups of ten participants each. Acupressure was used as a therapeutic method in the experimental group. A total of 8 therapeutic units were performed over the period of 4 weeks. There were three main factors, that were evaluated - the number of migraine attacks and how many times use of acute analgesics was needed in the last 4 weeks before the start of the intervention and during the 4-week acupressure intervention. Title: Physical activity of primary school children in the Czech Republic, during the COVID-19 pandemic Objectives: The aim of this diploma thesis is to evaluate how the period of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Czech Republic affected the physical activity of children of younger school age. Methods: The research was conducted using a questionnaire survey. The questionnaire was distributed in electronic version to primary schools (first stage) in the Czech Republic, schools in the capital city of Prague were excluded. In total, 215 responses were obtained. Children of both sexes, aged 6-12, living in the city and in the village and in all 1st grades of primary school corresponded. The collected data were analyzed using absolute percentage numbers, descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon test. The results were presented in the form of tables and graphs for better clarity. Results: The research sample showed a significant reduction in the amount of physical activity during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to the period before the pandemic. There was no significant difference in the amount of physical activity between children living in the city and in the village. Title: Frozen shoulder syndrome - effective physiotherapeutic approaches: systematic review Objectives: The aim of this work was to determine from studies concerning the treatment of the primary form of frozen shoulder syndrome using physiotherapeutic methods and published in the last 10 years, which brings the best results in reducing pain, increasing range of motion and improving affected shoulder function. Methods: Randomized controlled studies (double and single-blind) dealing with the physiotherapeutic intervention of frozen shoulder treatment with a data range of publications from September 1, 2011 to August 31, 2021 were searched. 3 databases were selected for this purpose: Cochrane Library, PubMed and Web of Science. Articles could be written in English, Czech, German, Slovak or Spanish. Different names of the studied disease were chosen as key words: adhesive capsulitis, contracted shoulder, frozen shoulder and periarthritis. The work is processed in the form of a systematic research. It is about issues related to whiplash syndrome, such as etiology, diagnosis and therapy. The aim of the systematic literature research was to find out what physiotherapeutic procedures have been used for the last five years in the treatment of whiplash syndrome and which procedure appears to be the most effective in reducing pain and improving range of motion. The studies were searched in the following databases: EBSCOhost, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus and Springer. The corresponding studies were searched using keywords which were then sorted using the established criteria. In the final count, 10 studies were identified. Five studies out of ten examined the effect of the procedure of therapy on behavioral intervention in combination with the specific exercise and individual needs of the individual. This therapy focuses as much as possible on the needs and goals of the individual. In the last five years, the effect of distance therapy has been studied in the treatment of whiplash syndrome again with an emphasis on the needs of a particular person. Title: Scheuermann's disease and its most recent approaches to conservative treatment - a systematic review Objective: This diploma thesis aims to evaluate the most commonly used therapeutic approaches in adolescents with Morbus Scheuermann and analyze which of the physiotherapeutic approaches are most effective. Methods: This diploma thesis is processed as a systematic review search using databases PubMed, Scopus, EBSCOhost, Web of Science, Science Direct. The first part of this thesis contains the current knowledge and theoretical bases of Morbus Scheuermann. The second part has a descriptive-analytical character. It contains an analysis of a study where was used conservative movement therapy. Results: After the final review of the studies, only 1 study was qualified to be included in this research. The study examined the effectiveness of treatment of Scheuermann's disease using the Schroth method. Because only one study was used in the review, it is not possible to evaluate the results of the studies. It is also not possible to interpret, which conservative therapy is the most effective. Title: Occurrence of ankle sprain injury among basketball players in relation to selected factors Objectives: The main objective of the master degree thesis is to evaluate the relationship between selected risk factors and the occurrence of ankle sprain injury among basketball players aged 15-40 who actively participated in league competitions from the regional championship to the highest league in the Czech Republic in the 2019/2020 season. Title: Changes in brain activity in tactile stimulus therapy and Ruka Ruk therapy compared to mirror therapy in upper limb rehabilitation Objectives: The aim of the research project is to determine the changes in source electrical activity in sLORETA imaging using virtual reality operating on the principle of mirror therapy in the Ruka Ruk program and in conventional mirror therapy with tactile and haptic upper limb stimulation, compared to the resting state with open eyes. Methods: 12 healthy volunteers aged 23-42 participated in the experiment. The electrical activity of the brain was measured by scalp EEG in 7 phases of the experiment.
