We present a measurement of the branching fraction of $B^+\to\tau^+\nu_\tau$ decays using $(387\pm6)\times 10^6$ $\Upsilon(4S)$ collected between 2019 and 2022 with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. We reconstruct the accompanying $B^-$ meson using the hadronic tagging method, while $B^+\to\tau^+\nu_\tau$ candidates are identified in the recoil. We find evidence for $B^+\to\tau^+\nu_\tau$ decays at 3.0 standard deviations, including systematic uncertainties. The measured branching fraction is $\mathcal{B}(B^+\to\tau^+\nu_\tau) = [1.24 \pm 0.41 (\text{stat.}) \pm 0.19 (\text{syst.})] \times 10^{-4}$.

Due to the effective multi-scale feature fusion capabilities of the Path Aggregation FPN (PAFPN), it has become a widely adopted component in YOLO-based detectors. However, PAFPN struggles to integrate high-level semantic cues with low-level spatial details, limiting its performance in real-world applications, especially with significant scale variations. In this paper, we propose MHAF-YOLO, a novel detection framework featuring a versatile neck design called the Multi-Branch Auxiliary FPN (MAFPN), which consists of two key modules: the Superficial Assisted Fusion (SAF) and Advanced Assisted Fusion (AAF). The SAF bridges the backbone and the neck by fusing shallow features, effectively transferring crucial low-level spatial information with high fidelity. Meanwhile, the AAF integrates multi-scale feature information at deeper neck layers, delivering richer gradient information to the output layer and further enhancing the model learning capacity. To complement MAFPN, we introduce the Global Heterogeneous Flexible Kernel Selection (GHFKS) mechanism and the Reparameterized Heterogeneous Multi-Scale (RepHMS) module to enhance feature fusion. RepHMS is globally integrated into the network, utilizing GHFKS to select larger convolutional kernels for various feature layers, expanding the vertical receptive field and capturing contextual information across spatial hierarchies. Locally, it optimizes convolution by processing both large and small kernels within the same layer, broadening the lateral receptive field and preserving crucial details for detecting smaller targets. The XENONnT experiment has achieved an unprecedented reduction of the $^\text{222}$Rn activity concentration within its liquid xenon dual-phase time projection chamber to a level of (0.90$\,\pm\,$0.01$\,$stat.$\,\pm\,$0.07 sys.)$\,\mu$Bq/kg, equivalent to about 1200 $^\text{222}$Rn atoms per cubic meter of liquid xenon. This represents a 15-fold improvement over the $^\text{222}$Rn levels encountered during XENON1T's main science runs and is a factor five lower compared to other currently operational multi-tonne liquid xenon detectors engaged in dark matter searches. This breakthrough enables the pursuit of various rare event searches that lie beyond the confines of the standard model of particle physics, with world-leading sensitivity. The ultra-low $^\text{222}$Rn levels have diminished the radon-induced background rate in the detector to a point where it is for the first time lower than the solar neutrino-induced background, which is poised to become the primary irreducible background in liquid xenon-based detectors.

As large language models (LLMs) become integral to diverse applications, ensuring their reliability under varying input conditions is crucial. One key issue affecting this reliability is order sensitivity, wherein slight variations in input arrangement can lead to inconsistent or biased outputs. Although recent advances have reduced this sensitivity, the problem remains unresolved. This paper investigates the extent of order sensitivity in closed-source LLMs by conducting experiments across multiple tasks, including paraphrasing, relevance judgment, and multiple-choice questions. Our results show that input order significantly affects performance across tasks, with shuffled inputs leading to measurable declines in output accuracy. Few-shot prompting demonstrates mixed effectiveness and offers partial mitigation, however, fails to fully resolve the problem. Motivated by ongoing pump-probe spectroscopy experiments, this work develops a theoretical framework for describing the rovibrational wave packet dynamics that ensues when a single weakly-bound van der Waals trimer is exposed to a short, sub-picosecond linearly polarized pump laser pulse. The intensity I of the pump laser is chosen such that excitation and ionization of the electronic degrees of freedom are negligible while excitation of the wavepacket in the nuclear degrees of freedom is non-negligible. The numerical treatment, which takes advantage of the fact that the laser pulse is very short compared to typical molecular time scales, is based on a wave packet decomposition that utilizes hyperspherical coordinates. The framework is applied to the extremely floppy bosonic helium trimer. A convergence analysis of the partial wave decomposition is conducted. The kinetic energy release and orientation dynamics are presented. While the dynamics of more strongly-bound van der Waals trimers such as, e.g., the argon trimer display negligible coupling between vibrational and rotational degrees of freedom, rendering a description within a rigid-body picture appropriate, those of weakly-bound trimers display non-negligible coupling between vibrational and rotational degrees of freedom, rendering a description within a rigid-body picture inappropriate. By analyzing 7.93 $\rm fb^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII collider, we report the observation of the semimuonic decays of $D^+\to \bar K_1(1270)^0\mu^+\nu_\mu$ and $D^0\to K_1(1270)^-\mu^+\nu_\mu$ with statistical significances of $12.5\sigma$ and $6.0\sigma$, respectively. Their decay branching fractions are determined to be ${\mathcal B}[D^{+}\to \bar{K}_1(1270)^0 \mu^{+}\nu_{\mu}]=(2.36\pm0.20^{+0.18}_{-0.27}\pm 0.48)\times10^{-3}$ and ${\mathcal B}[D^{0}\to K_1(1270)^{-} \mu^{+}\nu_{\mu}]=(0.78\pm0.11^{+0.05}_{-0.09}\pm 0.15)\times10^{-3}$, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, and the third originates from the input branching fraction of $\bar K_{1}(1270)^0\to K^- \pi^+\pi^0$ or $K_1(1270)^-\to K^-\pi^+\pi^-$. Combining our branching fractions with the previous measurements of ${\mathcal B}[D^+\to \bar K_1(1270)^0e^+\nu_{e}]$ and ${\mathcal B}[D^0\to K_1(1270)^-e^+\nu_{e}]$, we determine the branching fraction ratios to be ${\mathcal B}[D^+\to \bar K_1(1270)^0\mu^+\nu_{\mu}]/{\mathcal B}[D^+\to \bar K_1(1270)^0e^+\nu_{e}]=1.03 \pm 0.14 \substack{+0.11\\-0.15}$ and ${\mathcal B}[D^0\to K_1(1270)^-\mu^+\nu_{\mu}]/{\mathcal B}[D^0\to K_1(1270)^-e^+\nu_{e}]=0.74\pm 0.13 \substack{+0.08\\-0.13}$. Using the branching fractions measured in this work and the world-average lifetimes of the $D^+$ and $D^0$ mesons, we determine the semimuonic partial decay width ratio to be $\Gamma [D^+\to \bar K_1(1270)^0 \mu^+\nu_\mu]/\Gamma [D^0\to K_1(1270)^- \mu^+\nu_\mu]=1.22\pm 0.10\substack{+0.06\\-0.09}$, which is consistent with unity as predicted by isospin conservation., Comment: 10 pages, 2 figures

Learning the spatial topology of electroencephalogram (EEG) channels and their temporal dynamics is crucial for decoding attention states. This paper introduces EEG-PatchFormer, a transformer-based deep learning framework designed specifically for EEG attention classification in Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) applications. By integrating a Temporal CNN for frequency-based EEG feature extraction, a pointwise CNN for feature enhancement, and Spatial and Temporal Patching modules for organizing features into spatial-temporal patches, EEG-PatchFormer jointly learns spatial-temporal information from EEG data. Leveraging the global learning capabilities of the self-attention mechanism, it captures essential features across brain regions over time, thereby enhancing EEG data decoding performance. Demonstrating superior performance, EEG-PatchFormer surpasses existing benchmarks in accuracy, area under the ROC curve (AUC), and macro-F1 score on a public cognitive attention dataset. The K-long and muon detector (KLM) constitutes the outer-most volume of the Belle II spectrometer at the interaction region of the SuperKEKB collider in Tsukuba, Japan. The KLM detector was partially upgraded since the Belle experiment by replacing many of its resistive-plate chambers with scintillators containing wavelength-shifting fibers and instrumenting it with silicon photomultipliers. Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) has emerged as a promising sparse paradigm for scaling up pre-trained models (PTMs) with remarkable cost-effectiveness. However, the dynamic nature of MoE leads to rapid fluctuations and imbalances in expert loads during training, resulting in significant straggler effects that hinder training performance when using expert parallelism (EP). Existing MoE training systems attempt to mitigate these effects through expert rearrangement strategies, but they face challenges in terms of memory efficiency and timeliness of rearrangement. This paper proposes Fully Sharded Sparse Data Parallelism (FSSDP), an innovative approach that tackles the parallelization of MoE layers and potential straggler effects caused by imbalanced expert loads from a new perspective. FSSDP fully shards the parameters and optimizer states of MoE layers across devices and sparsely materializes MoE parameters from scratch in each iteration with two sparse collectives SparseAllGather and SparseReduceScatter. We build Hecate, a high-performance MoE training system that incorporates FSSDP to fully unlock its potential. Hecate introduces heterogeneous sharding, sparse materialization, and re-materialization techniques to construct flexible and efficient expert placements with low memory and communication overhead. Our evaluation reveals that Hecate achieves up to 3.54x speedup compared over state-of-the-art MoE training systems and consistently demonstrates improvements across model architectures and hardware environments.

Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown remarkable potential in reasoning while they still suffer from severe factual hallucinations due to timeliness, accuracy, and coverage of parametric knowledge. Meanwhile, integrating reasoning with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) remains challenging due to ineffective task decomposition and redundant retrieval, which can introduce noise and degrade response quality. In this paper, we propose DeepRAG, a framework that models retrieval-augmented reasoning as a Markov Decision Process (MDP), enabling strategic and adaptive retrieval. By iteratively decomposing queries, DeepRAG dynamically determines whether to retrieve external knowledge or rely on parametric reasoning at each step. Experiments show that DeepRAG improves retrieval efficiency while improving answer accuracy by 21.99%, demonstrating its effectiveness in optimizing retrieval-augmented reasoning.

Diffusion-based algorithms have emerged as promising techniques for weight generation, particularly in scenarios like multi-task learning that require frequent weight updates. However, existing solutions suffer from limited cross-task transferability. In addition, they only utilize optimal weights as training samples, ignoring the value of other weights in the optimization process. To address these issues, we propose Lt-Di, which integrates the diffusion algorithm with meta-learning to generate weights for unseen tasks. Furthermore, we extend the vanilla diffusion algorithm into a trajectory diffusion algorithm to utilize other weights along the optimization trajectory. Trajectory diffusion decomposes the entire diffusion chain into multiple shorter ones, improving training and inference efficiency. We analyze the convergence properties of the weight generation paradigm and improve convergence efficiency without additional time overhead. Our experiments demonstrate Lt-Di's higher accuracy while reducing computational overhead across various tasks, including zero-shot and few-shot learning, multi-domain generalization, and large-scale language model fine-tuning.Our code is released at https://github.com/tuantuange/Lt-Di.

With the advancement of generative artificial intelligence, previous studies have achieved the task of generating aesthetic images from hand-drawn sketches, fulfilling the public's needs for drawing. However, these methods are limited to static images and lack the ability to control video animation generation using hand-drawn sketches. To address this gap, we propose VidSketch, the first method capable of generating high-quality video animations directly from any number of hand-drawn sketches and simple text prompts, bridging the divide between ordinary users and professional artists. Specifically, our method introduces a Level-Based Sketch Control Strategy to automatically adjust the guidance strength of sketches during the generation process, accommodating users with varying drawing skills. Furthermore, a TempSpatial Attention mechanism is designed to enhance the spatiotemporal consistency of generated video animations, significantly improving the coherence across frames. With the rapid development of AIGC technology, significant progress has been made in diffusion model-based technologies for text-to-image (T2I) and text-to-video (T2V). In recent years, a few studies have introduced the strategy of Direct Preference Optimization (DPO) into T2I tasks, significantly enhancing human preferences in generated images. However, existing T2V generation methods lack a well-formed pipeline with exact loss function to guide the alignment of generated videos with human preferences using DPO strategies. Additionally, challenges such as the scarcity of paired video preference data hinder effective model training. At the same time, the lack of training datasets poses a risk of insufficient flexibility and poor video generation quality in the generated videos. Based on those problems, our work proposes three targeted solutions in sequence. 1) Our work is the first to introduce the DPO strategy into the T2V tasks. By deriving a carefully structured loss function, we utilize human feedback to align video generation with human preferences. We refer to this new method as HuViDPO. 2) Our work constructs small-scale human preference datasets for each action category and fine-tune this model, improving the aesthetic quality of the generated videos while reducing training costs. 3) We adopt a First-Frame-Conditioned strategy, leveraging the rich in formation from the first frame to guide the generation of subsequent frames, enhancing flexibility in video generation. Click-Through Rate (CTR) prediction is a crucial task in recommendation systems, online searches, and advertising platforms, where accurately capturing users' real interests in content is essential for performance. However, existing methods heavily rely on ID embeddings, which fail to reflect users' true preferences for content such as images and titles. This limitation becomes particularly evident in cold-start and long-tail scenarios, where traditional approaches struggle to deliver effective results. To address these challenges, we propose a novel Multi-modal Content Interest Modeling paradigm (MIM), which consists of three key stages: Pre-training, Content-Interest-Aware Supervised Fine-Tuning (C-SFT), and Content-Interest-Aware UBM (CiUBM). The pre-training stage adapts foundational models to domain-specific data, enabling the extraction of high-quality multi-modal embeddings. The C-SFT stage bridges the semantic gap between content and user interests by leveraging user behavior signals to guide the alignment of embeddings with user preferences. Finally, the CiUBM stage integrates multi-modal embeddings and ID-based collaborative filtering signals into a unified framework. Comprehensive offline experiments and online A/B tests conducted on the Taobao, one of the world's largest e-commerce platforms, demonstrated the effectiveness and efficiency of MIM method. The method has been successfully deployed online, achieving a significant increase of +14.14% in CTR and +4.12% in RPM, showcasing its industrial applicability and substantial impact on platform performance. Modern recommendation systems can be broadly divided into two key stages: the ranking stage, where the system predicts various user engagements (e.g., click-through rate, like rate, follow rate, watch time), and the value model stage, which aggregates these predictive scores through a function (e.g., a linear combination defined by a weight vector) to measure the value of each content by a single numerical score. Both stages play roughly equally important roles in real industrial systems; however, how to optimize the model weights for the second stage still lacks systematic study. This paper focuses on optimizing the second stage through auto-tuning technology. Although general auto-tuning systems and solutions - both from established production practices and open-source solutions - can address this problem, they typically require weeks or even months to identify a feasible solution. Such prolonged tuning processes are unacceptable in production environments for recommendation systems, as suboptimal value models can severely degrade user experience. An effective auto-tuning solution is required to identify a viable model within 2-3 days, rather than the extended timelines typically associated with existing approaches. In this paper, we introduce a practical auto-tuning system named HyperZero that addresses these time constraints while effectively solving the unique challenges inherent in modern recommendation systems. Moreover, this framework has the potential to be expanded to broader tuning tasks within recommendation systems.

Cross-subject variability in EEG degrades performance of current deep learning models, limiting the development of brain-computer interface (BCI). This paper proposes ISAM-MTL, which is a multi-task learning (MTL) EEG classification model based on identifiable spiking (IS) representations and associative memory (AM) networks. The proposed model treats EEG classification of each subject as an independent task and leverages cross-subject data training to facilitate feature sharing across subjects. ISAM-MTL consists of a spiking feature extractor that captures shared features across subjects and a subject-specific bidirectional associative memory network that is trained by Hebbian learning for efficient and fast within-subject EEG classification. ISAM-MTL integrates learned spiking neural representations with bidirectional associative memory for cross-subject EEG classification. The model employs label-guided variational inference to construct identifiable spike representations, enhancing classification accuracy. Experimental results on two BCI Competition datasets demonstrate that ISAM-MTL improves the average accuracy of cross-subject EEG classification while reducing performance variability among subjects. The model further exhibits the characteristics of few-shot learning and identifiable neural activity beneath EEG, enabling rapid and interpretable calibration for BCI systems.

High-speed trains are one of the most relevant scenarios for the fifth-generation (5G) mobile communications and the "smart rail mobility" vision, where a high-data-rate wireless connectivity with up to several GHz bandwidths will be required. This is a strong motivation for the exploration of millimeter wave (mmWave) band. In this article, we identify the main challenges and make progress towards realistic 5G mmWave channel models for railway use cases. In order to cope with the challenge of including the railway features in the channel models, we define reference scenarios to help the parameterization of channel models for railway use at mmWave band. Simulations and the subsequent measurements used to validate the model reflect the detailed influence of railway objects and the accuracy of the simulations. Finally, we point out the future directions towards the full version of the smart rail mobility which will be powered by terahertz (THz) communications.

In the design of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) wireless communications, a better understanding of propagation characteristics and an accurate channel model are required. Measurements and comprehensive analysis for the UAV-based air-ground (AG) propagation channel in the vertical dimension are presented in this letter. Based on the measurement data at 1 and 4 GHz, the large-scale and small-scale channel parameters are extracted in the line-of-sight (LOS) and nonLOS case, respectively. The altitude-dependent path loss model is proposed herein. Furthermore, shadow fading and fast fading are statistically analyzed for comprehensively describing the fading behavior. Our results will be useful in the modeling of AG channels and the performance analysis for UAV-enabled wireless communication systems.

Bone metastasis analysis is a significant challenge in pathology and plays a critical role in determining patient quality of life and treatment strategies. The microenvironment and specific tissue structures are essential for pathologists to predict the primary bone cancer origins and primary bone cancer subtyping. By digitizing bone tissue sections into whole slide images (WSIs) and leveraging deep learning to model slide embeddings, this analysis can be enhanced. However, tumor metastasis involves complex multivariate interactions with diverse bone tissue structures, which traditional WSI analysis methods such as multiple instance learning (MIL) fail to capture. Moreover, graph neural networks (GNNs), limited to modeling pairwise relationships, are hard to represent high-order biological associations. To address these challenges, we propose a dynamic hypergraph neural network (DyHG) that overcomes the edge construction limitations of traditional graph representations by connecting multiple nodes via hyperedges. A low-rank strategy is used to reduce the complexity of parameters in learning hypergraph structures, while a Gumbel-Softmax-based sampling strategy optimizes the patch distribution across hyperedges. An MIL aggregator is then used to derive a graph-level embedding for comprehensive WSI analysis. To evaluate the effectiveness of DyHG, we construct two large-scale datasets for primary bone cancer origins and subtyping classification based on real-world bone metastasis scenarios. The concentration of dark matter haloes is closely linked to their mass accretion history. We utilize the halo mass accretion histories from large cosmological N-body simulations as inputs for our neural networks, which we train to predict the concentration of individual haloes at a given redshift. The trained model performs effectively in other cosmological simulations, achieving the root mean square error between the actual and predicted concentrations that significantly lower than that of the model by Zhao et al. and Giocoli et al. at any redshift. The incorporation of high-resolution visual input equips multimodal large language models (MLLMs) with enhanced visual perception capabilities for real-world tasks. However, most existing high-resolution MLLMs rely on a cropping-based approach to process images, which leads to fragmented visual encoding and a sharp increase in redundant tokens. To tackle these issues, we propose the FALCON model. FALCON introduces a novel visual register technique to simultaneously: 1) Eliminate redundant tokens at the stage of visual encoding. To directly address the visual redundancy present in the output of vision encoder, we propose a Register-based Representation Compacting (ReCompact) mechanism. This mechanism introduces a set of learnable visual registers designed to adaptively aggregate essential information while discarding redundancy. It enables the encoder to produce a more compact visual representation with a minimal number of output tokens, thus eliminating the need for an additional compression module. 2) Ensure continuity in visual encoding. To address the potential encoding errors caused by fragmented visual inputs, we develop a Register Interactive Attention (ReAtten) module. This module facilitates effective and efficient information exchange across sub-images by enabling interactions between visual registers. It ensures the continuity of visual semantics throughout the encoding. We conduct comprehensive experiments with FALCON on high-resolution benchmarks across a wide range of scenarios. FALCON demonstrates superior performance with a remarkable 9-fold and 16-fold reduction in visual tokens.

Sub-Doppler laser spectroscopy is a crucial technique for laser frequency stabilization, playing a significant role in atomic physics, precision measurement, and quantum communication. However, recent efforts to improve frequency stability appear to have reached a bottleneck, as they primarily focus on external technical approaches while neglecting the fundamental issue of low atomic utilization (< 1%), caused by only near-zero transverse velocity atoms involved in the transition. Here, we propose a velocity-comb modulation transfer spectroscopy (MTS) solution that takes advantage of the velocity-selective resonance effect of multi-frequency comb lasers to enhance the utilization of non-zero-velocity atoms. In the probe-pump configuration, each pair of counter-propagating lasers interacts with atoms from different transverse velocity-comb groups, independently contributing to the spectral amplitude and signal-to-noise ratio. Preliminary proof-of-principle results show that the frequency stability of the triple-frequency laser is optimized by nearly a factor of \sqrt{3} compared to the single-frequency laser, consistent with theoretical expectations. With more frequency comb components, MTS-stabilized lasers are expected to achieve order-of-magnitude breakthroughs in frequency stability, taking an important step toward next-generation compact optical clocks. The existence of a quantum critical point (QCP) and fluctuations around it are believed to be important for understanding the phase diagram in unconventional superconductors such as cuprates, iron pnictides, and heavy fermion superconductors. However, the QCP is usually buried deep within the superconducting dome and is difficult to investigate. The connection between quantum critical fluctuations and superconductivity remains an outstanding problem in condensed matter. Here combining both electrical transport and Nernst experiments, we explicitly demonstrate the onset of superconductivity at an unconventional QCP in gate-tuned monolayer tungsten ditelluride (WTe2), with features incompatible with the conventional Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) scenario. The results lead to a novel superconducting phase diagram that is distinguished from other known superconductors. Two distinct gate-tuned quantum phase transitions are observed at the ends of the superconducting dome. We find that quantum fluctuations around the QCP of the underdoped regime are essential for understanding how the monolayer superconductivity is established. The unconventional phase diagram we report here illustrates a previously unknown relation between superconductivity and QCP.

Battery-powered mobile devices (e.g., smartphones, AR/VR glasses, and various IoT devices) are increasingly being used for AI training due to their growing computational power and easy access to valuable, diverse, and real-time data. On-device training is highly energy-intensive, making accurate energy consumption estimation crucial for effective job scheduling and sustainable AI. However, the heterogeneity of devices and the complexity of models challenge the accuracy and generalizability of existing estimation methods. This paper proposes THOR, a generic approach for energy consumption estimation in deep neural network (DNN) training. First, we examine the layer-wise energy additivity property of DNNs and strategically partition the entire model into layers for fine-grained energy consumption profiling. Then, we fit Gaussian Process (GP) models to learn from layer-wise energy consumption measurements and estimate a DNN's overall energy consumption based on its layer-wise energy additivity property. We conduct extensive experiments with various types of models across different real-world platforms. The results demonstrate that THOR has effectively reduced the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) by up to 30%. Moreover, THOR is applied in guiding energy-aware pruning, successfully reducing energy consumption by 50%, thereby further demonstrating its generality and potential., Comment: Under review

The Josephson effect is a macroscopic quantum tunneling phenomenon in a system with superfluid property, when it is split into two parts by a barrier. Here, we examine the Josephson effect in a driven-dissipative supersolid realized by coupling Bose-Einstein condensates to an optical ring cavity. We show that the spontaneous breaking of spatial translation symmetry in supersolid makes the location of the splitting barrier have a significant influence on the Josephson effect. Remarkably, for the same splitting barrier, depending on its location, two different types of DC Josephson currents are found in the supersolid phase (compared to only one type found in the superfluid phase). Thus, we term it a bi-Josephson effect. We examine the Josephson relationships and critical Josephson currents in detail, revealing that the emergence of supersolid order affects these two types of DC Josephson currents differently -- one is enhanced, while the other is suppressed. The findings of this work unveil unique Josephson physics in the supersolid phase, and show new opportunities to build novel Josephson devices with supersolids.

Motivation: Nucleocytoplasmic large DNA viruses (NCLDVs) are notable for their large genomes and extensive gene repertoires, which contribute to their widespread environmental presence and critical roles in processes such as host metabolic reprogramming and nutrient cycling. Metagenomic sequencing has emerged as a powerful tool for uncovering novel NCLDVs in environmental samples. However, identifying NCLDV sequences in metagenomic data remains challenging due to their high genomic diversity, limited reference genomes, and shared regions with other microbes. Existing alignment-based and machine learning methods struggle with achieving optimal trade-offs between sensitivity and precision. Results: In this work, we present GiantHunter, a reinforcement learning-based tool for identifying NCLDVs from metagenomic data. By employing a Monte Carlo tree search strategy, GiantHunter dynamically selects representative non-NCLDV sequences as the negative training data, enabling the model to establish a robust decision boundary. Benchmarking on rigorously designed experiments shows that GiantHunter achieves high precision while maintaining competitive sensitivity, improving the F1-score by 10% and reducing computational cost by 90% compared to the second-best method. To demonstrate its real-world utility, we applied GiantHunter to 60 metagenomic datasets collected from six cities along the Yangtze River, located both upstream and downstream of the Three Gorges Dam. The results reveal significant differences in NCLDV diversity correlated with proximity to the dam, likely influenced by reduced flow velocity caused by the dam. A new type of link between geometry of symplectic group and entanglement-assisted (EA) quantum error-correcting codes (EAQECCs) is presented. Relations of symplectic subspaces and quaternary additive codes concerning parameters of EAQECCs are described. Using $\psi(3686)\rightarrow \pi^{0} h_{c}$ decays from a data sample of $(27.12\pm0.14)\times10^{8}$ $\psi(3686)$ events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, $h_c$ radiative decays to $\gamma\pi^{+}\pi^{-},~\gamma\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\eta,~\gamma2(\pi^{+}\pi^{-})$, and $\gamma p\bar{p}$ are observed for the first time, each with a significance greater than $5\sigma$. The corresponding branching fractions are measured. Furthermore, intermediate states below 2.8 GeV/$c^{2}$ are investigated, leading to the first observation of the decay process of $h_c\rightarrow\gamma f_{2}(1270)\rightarrow\gamma\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ with a significance of $5.5\,\sigma$. This observation represents the first instance of $h_c$ radiative decay to a tensor state.

Engineering design risks could cause unaffordable losses, and thus risk assessment plays a critical role in engineering design. On the other hand, the high complexity of modern engineering designs makes it difficult to assess risks effectively and accurately due to the complex two-way, dynamic causal-effect risk relations in engineering designs. To address this problem, this paper proposes a new risk assessment method called token fuzzy cognitive map (Token-FCM). Its basic idea is to model the two-way causal-risk relations with the FCM method, and then augment FCM with a token mechanism to model the dynamics in causal-effect risk relations. Furthermore, the fuzzy sets and the group decision-making method are introduced to initialize the Token-FCM method so that comprehensive and accurate risk assessments can be attained. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been demonstrated by a real example of engine design for a horizontal directional drilling machine.

Implicit neural representations (INRs) have become an important method for encoding various data types, such as 3D objects or scenes, images, and videos. They have proven to be particularly effective at representing 3D content, e.g., 3D scene reconstruction from 2D images, novel 3D content creation, as well as the representation, interpolation, and completion of 3D shapes. With the widespread generation of 3D data in an INR format, there is a need to support effective organization and retrieval of INRs saved in a data store. A key aspect of retrieval and clustering of INRs in a data store is the formulation of similarity between INRs that would, for example, enable retrieval of similar INRs using a query INR. In this work, we propose INRet, a method for determining similarity between INRs that represent shapes, thus enabling accurate retrieval of similar shape INRs from an INR data store. INRet flexibly supports different INR architectures such as INRs with octree grids, triplanes, and hash grids, as well as different implicit functions including signed/unsigned distance function and occupancy field. We demonstrate that our method is more general and accurate than the existing INR retrieval method, which only supports simple MLP INRs and requires the same architecture between the query and stored INRs. Furthermore, compared to converting INRs to other representations (e.g., point clouds or multi-view images) for 3D shape retrieval, INRet achieves higher accuracy while avoiding the conversion overhead., Comment: 3DV 2025

3D object detection and occupancy prediction are critical tasks in autonomous driving, attracting significant attention. Despite the potential of recent vision-based methods, they encounter challenges under adverse conditions. Thus, integrating cameras with next-generation 4D imaging radar to achieve unified multi-task perception is highly significant, though research in this domain remains limited. In this paper, we propose Doracamom, the first framework that fuses multi-view cameras and 4D radar for joint 3D object detection and semantic occupancy prediction, enabling comprehensive environmental perception. Specifically, we introduce a novel Coarse Voxel Queries Generator that integrates geometric priors from 4D radar with semantic features from images to initialize voxel queries, establishing a robust foundation for subsequent Transformer-based refinement. To leverage temporal information, we design a Dual-Branch Temporal Encoder that processes multi-modal temporal features in parallel across BEV and voxel spaces, enabling comprehensive spatio-temporal representation learning. Furthermore, we propose a Cross-Modal BEV-Voxel Fusion module that adaptively fuses complementary features through attention mechanisms while employing auxiliary tasks to enhance feature quality. Extensive experiments on the OmniHD-Scenes, View-of-Delft (VoD), and TJ4DRadSet datasets demonstrate that Doracamom achieves state-of-the-art performance in both tasks, establishing new benchmarks for multi-modal 3D perception. Dynamic Graph Neural Networks (DGNNs) have gained widespread attention due to their applicability in diverse domains such as traffic network prediction, epidemiological forecasting, and social network analysis. In this paper, we present ReInc, a system designed to enable efficient and scalable training of DGNNs on large-scale graphs. ReInc introduces key innovations that capitalize on the unique combination of Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) and Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) inherent in DGNNs. By reusing intermediate results and incrementally computing aggregations across consecutive graph snapshots, ReInc significantly enhances computational efficiency. To support these optimizations, ReInc incorporates a novel two-level caching mechanism with a specialized caching policy aligned to the DGNN execution workflow. Additionally, ReInc addresses the challenges of managing structural and temporal dependencies in dynamic graphs through a new distributed training strategy. This approach eliminates communication overheads associated with accessing remote features and redistributing intermediate results. Experimental results demonstrate that ReInc achieves up to an order of magnitude speedup compared to state-of-the-art frameworks, tested across various dynamic GNN architectures and real-world graph datasets.

Objective: The aim of the study is to develop a novel method for improved diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) in clinical or home settings, with the focus on achieving diagnostic performance comparable to the gold-standard polysomnography (PSG) with significantly reduced monitoring burden. Methods: We propose a method using millimeter-wave radar and pulse oximeter for OSAHS diagnosis (ROSA). It contains a sleep apnea-hypopnea events (SAE) detection network, which directly predicts the temporal localization of SAE, and a sleep staging network, which predicts the sleep stages throughout the night, based on radar signals. It also fuses oxygen saturation (SpO2) information from the pulse oximeter to adjust the score of SAE detected by radar. Results: Experimental results on a real-world dataset (>800 hours of overnight recordings, 100 subjects) demonstrated high agreement (ICC=0.9870) on apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) between ROSA and PSG. ROSA also exhibited excellent diagnostic performance, exceeding 90% in accuracy across AHI diagnostic thresholds of 5, 15 and 30 events/h. Conclusion: ROSA improves diagnostic accuracy by fusing millimeter-wave radar and pulse oximeter data. It provides a reliable and low-burden solution for OSAHS diagnosis. Significance: ROSA addresses the limitations of high complexity and monitoring burden associated with traditional PSG. The high accuracy and low burden of ROSA show its potential to improve the accessibility of OSAHS diagnosis among population.

Molecular docking is a key task in computational biology that has attracted increasing interest from the machine learning community. While existing methods have achieved success, they generally treat each protein-ligand pair in isolation. Inspired by the biochemical observation that ligands binding to the same target protein tend to adopt similar poses, we propose \textsc{GroupBind}, a novel molecular docking framework that simultaneously considers multiple ligands docking to a protein. This is achieved by introducing an interaction layer for the group of ligands and a triangle attention module for embedding protein-ligand and group-ligand pairs. Homogeneity, low rank, and sparsity are three widely adopted assumptions in multi-response regression models to address the curse of dimensionality and improve estimation accuracy. However, there is limited literature that examines these assumptions within a unified framework. In this paper, we investigate the homogeneity, low rank, and sparsity assumptions under the generalized linear model with high-dimensional responses and covariates, encompassing a wide range of practical applications. Our work establishes a comprehensive benchmark for comparing the effects of these three assumptions and introduces a regularized maximum likelihood estimation method to fit the corresponding models. Under mild conditions,we prove the statistical consistency of our estimator. Theoretical results provide insights into the role of homogeneity and offer a quantitative analysis of scenarios where homogeneity improves estimation accuracy. We present a deep learning model, dubbed Glissando-Net, to simultaneously estimate the pose and reconstruct the 3D shape of objects at the category level from a single RGB image. Previous works predominantly focused on either estimating poses(often at the instance level), or reconstructing shapes, but not both. Glissando-Net is composed of two auto-encoders that are jointly trained, one for RGB images and the other for point clouds. We embrace two key design choices in Glissando-Net to achieve a more accurate prediction of the 3D shape and pose of the object given a single RGB image as input. First, we augment the feature maps of the point cloud encoder and decoder with transformed feature maps from the image decoder, enabling effective 2D-3D interaction in both training and prediction. Second, we predict both the 3D shape and pose of the object in the decoder stage. This way, we better utilize the information in the 3D point clouds presented only in the training stage to train the network for more accurate prediction. We jointly train the two encoder-decoders for RGB and point cloud data to learn how to pass latent features to the point cloud decoder during inference. In testing, the encoder of the 3D point cloud is discarded. The design of Glissando-Net is inspired by codeSLAM. Unlike codeSLAM, which targets 3D reconstruction of scenes, we focus on pose estimation and shape reconstruction of objects, and directly predict the object pose and a pose invariant 3D reconstruction without the need of the code optimization step. Since searches for the low-lying excited baryons $\Xi(1/2^-)$ and $\Sigma(1/2^-)$ are crucial to deepening our understanding of the light baryon spectrum, we have investigated the Cabibbo-favored process $\Xi_c^+ \to \Lambda {\bar{K}}^0 \pi^+$ by taking into account the $S$-wave pseudoscalar meson-octet baryon interactions within the chiral unitary approach, which could dynamically generate the resonances $\Xi(1/2^-)$ and $\Sigma(1/2^-)$. The contributions from the excited kaons are double Cabibbo-suppressed, and the contribution from the $\Sigma(1385)$ is also suppressed due to Korner-Pati-Woo theory, thus those states are expected to play negligible contributions in this process. We have predicted the $\bar{K}^0 \Lambda$ and $\pi^+\Lambda$ invariant mass distributions, which have the clear signals of the $\Xi(1/2^-)$ and $\Sigma(1/2^-)$. Thus, the $\Xi_c^+ \to \Lambda {\bar{K}}^0 \pi^+$ is an ideal process to search for the low-lying baryons $\Xi(1/2^-)$ and $\Sigma(1/2^-)$, and we make a call for a precise measurements of this process in experiments, such as Belle II, LHCb, and the proposed Super Tau-Charm Facility (STCF)., Comment: 8 pages, 9 figures

NCORES was a large observing program on the ESO HARPS spectrograph, dedicated to measuring the masses of Neptune-like and smaller transiting planets discovered by the TESS satellite using the radial velocity technique. This paper presents an overview of the programme, its scientific goals and published results, covering 35 planets in 18 planetary systems. We present spectrally derived stellar characterisation and mass constraints for five additional TOIs where radial velocity observations found only marginally significant signals (TOI-510.01, $M_p=1.08^{+0.58}_{-0.55}M_\oplus$), or found no signal (TOIs 271.01, 641.01, 697.01 and 745.01). A newly detected non-transiting radial velocity candidate is presented orbiting TOI-510 on a 10.0d orbit, with a minimum mass of $4.82^{+1.29}_{-1.26}M_\oplus$, although uncertainties on the system architecture and true orbital period remain. Combining the NCORES sample with archival known planets we investigate the distribution of planet masses and compositions around and below the radius gap, finding that the population of planets below the gap is consistent with a rocky composition and ranges up to a sharp cut-off at $10M_\oplus$. We compare the observed distribution to models of pebble- and planetesimal-driven formation and evolution, finding good broad agreement with both models while highlighting interesting areas of potential discrepancy. Orbital angular momentum (OAM) can enhance the spectral efficiency by multiplying a set of orthogonal modes on the same frequency channel. To maintain the orthogonal among different OAM modes, perfect alignments between transmitters and receivers are strictly required. However, in multi-user OAM communications, the perfect alignments between the transmitter and all the receivers are impossible. The phase turbulence, caused by misaligned transmitters and receivers, leads to serious inter-mode interference, which greatly degrades the capacity of OAM transmissions. To eliminate the negative effects of phase turbulence and further enhance the transmission capacity, we introduce RIS into the system, and propose a joint precoder and reflector design for reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted multi-user OAM communication systems. Specifically, we propose a three-layer design at the transmitter side, which includes inter-user OAM mode interference cancellation, inter-mode self-interference elimination and the power allocation among different users. By analyzing the characteristics of the overall channels, we are able to give the specific expressions of the precoder designs, which significantly reduce the optimization complexity. We further leverage RIS to guarantee the line-ofsight (LoS) transmissions between the transmitter and users for better sum rate performance. To verify the superiority of the proposed multi-user OAM transmission system, we compare it with traditional MIMO transmission schemes, numerical results have shown that our proposed design can achieve better sum rate performance due to the well-designed orthogonality among different users and OAM modes.

Using data samples collected by the \mbox{BESIII} detector located at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider, the cross sections of the process $e^+e^-\to f_{1}(1285)\pi^+\pi^-$ are measured at forty-five center-of-mass energies from $3.808$ to $4.951 {\rm GeV}$. An investigation on the cross section line shape is performed, and no significant structure is observed.

Vision-Language Models (VLMs) have achieved notable success in multimodal tasks but face practical limitations due to the quadratic complexity of decoder attention mechanisms and autoregressive generation. Existing methods like FASTV and VTW have achieved notable results in reducing redundant visual tokens, but these approaches focus on pruning tokens in a single forward pass without systematically analyzing the redundancy of visual tokens throughout the entire generation process. In this paper, we introduce a dynamic pruning strategy tailored for VLMs, namedDynamic Rate (DyRate), which progressively adjusts the compression rate during generation. Our analysis of the distribution of attention reveals that the importance of visual tokens decreases throughout the generation process, inspiring us to adopt a more aggressive compression rate. By integrating a lightweight predictor based on attention distribution, our approach enables flexible adjustment of pruning rates based on the attention distribution. Our experimental results demonstrate that our method not only reduces computational demands but also maintains the quality of responses.

Hypothesis Understanding the scission of rod-like micelles under mechanical forces is crucial for optimizing their stability and behavior in industrial applications. This study investigates how micelle length, flexibility, and external forces interact, offering insights into the design of micellar systems in processes influenced by mechanical stress. Although significant, direct experimental observations of flow-induced micellar scission using scattering techniques remain scarce. Experiments and Simulations Small angle neutron scattering (SANS) is used to explore the shear response of aqueous cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) solutions with sodium nitrate. Rheological tests show shear thinning with no shear banding, ensuring a uniform flow field for reliable interpretation of scattering data. As shear rate increases, the scattering spectra show angular distortion, which is analyzed using spherical harmonic decomposition to characterize flow-induced scission and micelle orientation under shear. Findings Two analysis steps are used: a model-independent spectral eigendecomposition reveals a decrease in micellar length, while regression analysis quantifies the evolution of the length distribution and mean length with shear rate. Additionally, micelle alignment increases with shear, quantified by the orientational distribution function. These findings provide experimental evidence for flow-induced alignment and scission, offering a new framework for understanding shear-induced phenomena in micellar systems

This paper considers the problem of label recovery in random graphs and matrices. Motivated by transitive behavior in real-world networks (i.e., ``the friend of my friend is my friend''), a recent line of work considers spatially-embedded networks, which exhibit transitive behavior. In particular, the Geometric Hidden Community Model (GHCM), introduced by Gaudio, Guan, Niu, and Wei, models a network as a labeled Poisson point process where every pair of vertices is associated with a pairwise observation whose distribution depends on the labels and positions of the vertices. The GHCM is in turn a generalization of the Geometric SBM (proposed by Baccelli and Sankararaman). Gaudio et al. provided a threshold below which exact recovery is information-theoretically impossible. Above the threshold, they provided a linear-time algorithm that succeeds in exact recovery under a certain ``distinctness-of-distributions'' assumption, which they conjectured to be unnecessary. In this paper, we partially resolve the conjecture by showing that the threshold is indeed tight for the two-community GHCM. We provide a two-phase, linear-time algorithm that explores the spatial graph in a data-driven manner in Phase I to yield an almost exact labeling, which is refined to achieve exact recovery in Phase II. Our results extend achievability to geometric formulations of well-known inference problems, such as the planted dense subgraph problem and submatrix localization, in which the distinctness-of-distributions assumption does not hold.

Barren plateaus (BP), characterized by exponentially vanishing gradients that hinder the training of variational quantum circuits (VQC), present a pervasive and critical challenge in applying variational quantum algorithms to real-world applications. It is widely recognized that the BP problem becomes more pronounced with an increase in the number of parameters. This work demonstrates that the BP problem manifests at different scales depending on the specific application, highlighting the absence of a universal VQC ansatz capable of resolving the BP issue across all applications. Consequently, there is an imminent need for an automated tool to design and optimize VQC architectures tailored to specific applications. To close the gap, this paper takes Variational Quantum Eigensolvers (VQEs) as a vehicle, and we propose a novel quantum circuit parameter and architecture co-exploration framework, namely AntiBP. Experimental results demonstrate that AntiBP effectively avoids the BP issue for circuits that are not under-parameterized in noise-free environments. Furthermore, AntiBP significantly outperforms baseline VQEs in noisy environments.

We introduce our first-generation reasoning models, DeepSeek-R1-Zero and DeepSeek-R1. DeepSeek-R1-Zero, a model trained via large-scale reinforcement learning (RL) without supervised fine-tuning (SFT) as a preliminary step, demonstrates remarkable reasoning capabilities. Through RL, DeepSeek-R1-Zero naturally emerges with numerous powerful and intriguing reasoning behaviors. However, it encounters challenges such as poor readability, and language mixing. To address these issues and further enhance reasoning performance, we introduce DeepSeek-R1, which incorporates multi-stage training and cold-start data before RL. DeepSeek-R1 achieves performance comparable to OpenAI-o1-1217 on reasoning tasks. To support the research community, we open-source DeepSeek-R1-Zero, DeepSeek-R1, and six dense models (1.5B, 7B, 8B, 14B, 32B, 70B) distilled from DeepSeek-R1 based on Qwen and Llama.

Serverless computing adopts a pay-as-you-go billing model where applications are executed in stateless and shortlived containers triggered by events, resulting in a reduction of monetary costs and resource utilization. However, existing platforms do not provide an upper bound for the billing model which makes the overall cost unpredictable, precluding many organizations from managing their budgets. Due to the diverse ranges of serverless functions and the heterogeneous capacity of edge devices, it is challenging to receive near-optimal solutions for deployment cost in a polynomial time. In this paper, we investigated the function scheduling problem with a budget constraint for serverless computing in wireless networks. Users and IoT devices are sending requests to edge nodes, improving the latency perceived by users. We propose two online scheduling algorithms based on reinforcement learning, incorporating several important characteristics of serverless functions. Via extensive simulations, we justify the superiority of the proposed algorithm by comparing with an ILP solver (Midaco). Our results indicate that the proposed algorithms efficiently approximate the results of Midaco within a factor of 1.03 while our decision-making time is 5 orders of magnitude less than that of Midaco., Comment: This paper has been accepted by IEEE ICC 2025

In the pursuit of robust autonomous driving systems, models trained on real-world datasets often struggle to adapt to new environments, particularly when confronted with corner cases such as extreme weather conditions. Collecting these corner cases in the real world is non-trivial, which necessitates the use of simulators for validation. However,the high computational cost and the domain gap in data distribution have hindered the seamless transition between real and simulated driving scenarios. To tackle this challenge, we propose Retrieval-Augmented Learning for Autonomous Driving (RALAD), a novel framework designed to bridge the real-to-sim gap at a low cost. RALAD features three primary designs, including (1) domain adaptation via an enhanced Optimal Transport (OT) method that accounts for both individual and grouped image distances, (2) a simple and unified framework that can be applied to various models, and (3) efficient fine-tuning techniques that freeze the computationally expensive layers while maintaining robustness. Experimental results demonstrate that RALAD compensates for the performance degradation in simulated environments while maintaining accuracy in real-world scenarios across three different models. Taking Cross View as an example, the mIOU and mAP metrics in real-world scenarios remain stable before and after RALAD fine-tuning, while in simulated environments,the mIOU and mAP metrics are improved by 10.30% and 12.29%, respectively. As a common method in the field of computer vision, spatial attention mechanism has been widely used in semantic segmentation of remote sensing images due to its outstanding long-range dependency modeling capability. However, remote sensing images are usually characterized by complex backgrounds and large intra-class variance that would degrade their analysis performance. While vanilla spatial attention mechanisms are based on dense affine operations, they tend to introduce a large amount of background contextual information and lack of consideration for intrinsic spatial correlation. To deal with such limitations, this paper proposes a novel scene-Coupling semantic mask network, which reconstructs the vanilla attention with scene coupling and local global semantic masks strategies. Specifically, scene coupling module decomposes scene information into global representations and object distributions, which are then embedded in the attention affinity processes. This Strategy effectively utilizes the intrinsic spatial correlation between features so that improve the process of attention modeling. Meanwhile, local global semantic masks module indirectly correlate pixels with the global semantic masks by using the local semantic mask as an intermediate sensory element, which reduces the background contextual interference and mitigates the effect of intra-class variance. By combining the above two strategies, we propose the model SCSM, which not only can efficiently segment various geospatial objects in complex scenarios, but also possesses inter-clean and elegant mathematical representations. Experimental results on four benchmark datasets demonstrate the the effectiveness of the above two strategies for improving the attention modeling of remote sensing images. We propose a modeling framework for finite viscoelasticity, inspired by the kinematic assumption made by Green and Naghdi in plasticity. This approach fundamentally differs from the widely used multiplicative decomposition of the deformation gradient, as the intermediate configuration, a concept that remains debated, becomes unnecessary. The advent of the concept of generalized strains allows the Green-Naghdi assumption to be employed with different strains, offering a flexible mechanism to separate inelastic deformation from total deformation. This leads to a constitutive theory in which the kinematic separation is adjustable and can be calibrated. For quadratic configurational free energy, the framework yields a suite of finite linear viscoelasticity models governed by linear evolution equations. Notably, these models recover established models, including those by Green and Tobolsky (1946) and Simo (1987), when the Seth-Hill strain is chosen with the strain parameter being -2 and 2, respectively. It is also related to the model of Miehe and Keck (2000) when the strain is of the Hencky type. We further extend the approach by adopting coercive strains, which allows us to define an elastic deformation tensor locally. This facilitates modeling the viscous branch using general forms of the configurational free energy, and we construct a micromechanical viscoelastic model as a representative instantiation. The constitutive integration algorithms of the proposed models are detailed. We employ the experimental data of VHB 4910 to examine the proposed models, which demonstrate their effectiveness and potential advantages in the quality of fitting and prediction. Three-dimensional finite element analysis is also conducted to assess the influence of different strains on the viscoelastic behavior.

Personalized speech enhancement (PSE) methods typically rely on pre-trained speaker verification models or self-designed speaker encoders to extract target speaker clues, guiding the PSE model in isolating the desired speech. However, these approaches suffer from significant model complexity and often underutilize enrollment speaker information, limiting the potential performance of the PSE model. To address these limitations, we propose a novel Speaker Encoder-Free PSE network, termed SEF-PNet, which fully exploits the information present in both the enrollment speech and noisy mixtures. SEF-PNet incorporates two key innovations: Interactive Speaker Adaptation (ISA) and Local-Global Context Aggregation (LCA). ISA dynamically modulates the interactions between enrollment and noisy signals to enhance the speaker adaptation, while LCA employs advanced channel attention within the PSE encoder to effectively integrate local and global contextual information, thus improving feature learning. Experiments on the Libri2Mix dataset demonstrate that SEF-PNet significantly outperforms baseline models, achieving state-of-the-art PSE performance., Comment: accpeted by ICASSP2025
