Diamond-like carbon film (DLC) is selected as a cathode-protective film because it has chemical inertness, mechanical hardness, and high electrical resistivity. For this study, a DLC protective film was deposited onto a cathode electrode rather than individual cathode particles. A hybrid process of plasma-based ion implantation and deposition was applied to a uniform deposition of the DLC protective film, even at low processing temperature on the cathode electrode having complex surface geometry and low melting point binder. The electrochemical performance of the DLC-coated LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2 cathode was studied using galvano-static charge-discharge cycling at high operating temperature, compared to those of the pristine LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2 cathode. Background and Aims: Accurately diagnosing biliary strictures is crucial for surgical decisions, and although peroral cholangioscopy (POCS) aids in visual diagnosis, diagnosing malignancies or determining lesion margins via this route remains challenging. Indigo carmine is commonly used to evaluate lesions during GI endoscopy. We aimed to establish the utility of virtual indigo carmine chromoendoscopy (VICI) converted from POCS images using artificial intelligence., Methods: This single-center, retrospective study analyzed 40 patients with biliary strictures who underwent POCS using white-light imaging (WLI) and narrow-band imaging (NBI). A cycle-consistent adversarial network was used to convert the WLI into VICI of POCS images. Three experienced endoscopists evaluated WLI, NBI, and VICI via POCS in all patients. The primary outcome was the visualization quality of surface structures, surface microvessels, and lesion margins. The secondary outcome was diagnostic accuracy., Results: VICI showed superior visualization of the surface structures and lesion margins compared with WLI (P < .001) and NBI (P < .001). The diagnostic accuracies were 72.5%, 87.5%, and 90.0% in WLI alone, WLI and VICI simultaneously, and WLI and NBI simultaneously, respectively. WLI and VICI simultaneously tended to result in higher accuracy than WLI alone (P = .083), and the results were not significantly different from WLI and NBI simultaneously (P = .65)., Conclusions: VICI in POCS proved valuable for visualizing surface structures and lesion margins and contributed to higher diagnostic accuracy comparable to NBI. This review discusses the intriguing yet controversial concept of metabolons, focusing on the malate dehydrogenase-citrate synthase (MDH-CISY) metabolon as a model. Metabolons are multienzyme complexes composed of enzymes that catalyze sequential reactions in metabolic pathways. Metabolons have been proposed to enhance metabolic pathway efficiency by facilitating substrate channeling. However, there is skepticism about the presence of metabolons and their functionality in physiological conditions in vivo. We address the skepticism by reviewing compelling evidence supporting the existence of the MDH-CISY metabolon and highlighting its potential functions in cellular metabolism. The electrostatic interaction between MDH and CISY and the intermediate oxaloacetate, channeled within the metabolon, has been demonstrated using various experimental techniques, including protein-protein interaction assays, isotope dilution studies, and enzyme coupling assays. Regardless of the wealth of in vitro evidence, further validation is required to elucidate the functionality of MDH-CISY metabolons in living systems using advanced structural and spatial analysis techniques., (© 2024 The Author(s).)

Objectives: Tracheal regeneration is challenging owing to its unique anatomy and low blood supply. Most tracheal regeneration applications require scaffolds. Herein, we developed bio-three-dimensional-printed scaffold-free artificial tracheas., Methods: We fabricated bio-three-dimensional-printed artificial tracheas. Their anterior surface comprised hyaline cartilage differentiated from mesenchymal stem cells, and their posterior surface comprised smooth muscle. Human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells were cultured and differentiated into chondrocytes using fibroblast growth factor-2 and transforming growth factor-beta-3. Initially, horseshoe-shaped spheroids were printed to cover the anterior surface of the artificial trachea, followed by the application of human bronchial smooth muscle cells for the posterior surface. After a 3-week maturing process, the artificial trachea was subjected to histological and immunohistochemical analyses., Results: The anterior surface of the artificial trachea comprised well-differentiated hyaline cartilage from human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells. Rapid on-site cytopathology evaluation (ROSE) has been considered an effective method to increase the diagnostic ability of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA); however, ROSE is unavailable in most institutes worldwide due to the shortage of cytopathologists. To overcome this situation, we created an artificial intelligence (AI)-based system (the ROSE-AI system), which was trained with the augmented data to evaluate the slide images acquired by EUS-FNA. This study aimed to clarify the effects of such data-augmentation on establishing an effective ROSE-AI system by comparing the efficacy of various data-augmentation techniques. The ROSE-AI system was trained with increased data obtained by the various data-augmentation techniques, including geometric transformation, color space transformation, and kernel filtering. By performing five-fold cross-validation, we compared the efficacy of each data-augmentation technique on the increasing diagnostic abilities of the ROSE-AI system. We collected 4059 divided EUS-FNA slide images from 36 patients with pancreatic cancer and nine patients with non-pancreatic cancer. The diagnostic ability of the ROSE-AI system without data augmentation had a sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of 87.5%, 79.7%, and 83.7%, respectively. While, some data-augmentation techniques decreased diagnostic ability, the ROSE-AI system trained only with the augmented data using the geometric transformation technique had the highest diagnostic accuracy (88.2%). We successfully developed a prototype ROSE-AI system with high diagnostic ability. Numerous cross-sectional studies have attempted to identify the muscle morphology required to achieve high sprint velocity. Our longitudinal study addressed an unanswered question of cross-sectional studies: whether hypertrophy of the individual trunk and thigh muscles induced by daily training (e.g., sprint, jump, and resistance training) is linked to an improvement in sprint performance within well-trained sprinters. Twenty-three collegiate male sprinters (100-m best time of 11.36 ± 0.44 s) completed their daily training for 1 year without our intervention. Before and after the observation period, the sprint velocities at 0-100 m, 0-10 m, and 50-60 m intervals were measured using timing gates. The volumes of 14 trunk and thigh muscles were measured using magnetic resonance imaging. Muscle volumes were normalized to the participants' body mass at each time point. Sprint velocities increased at the 0-100 m (p < 0.001), 0-10 m (p = 0.019), and 50-60 m (p = 0.018) intervals after the observation period. The relative volumes of the tensor fasciae latae, sartorius, biceps femoris long head, biceps femoris short head, semitendinosus, and iliacus were increased (all p < 0.050). Among the hypertrophied muscles, only the change in the relative volume of the semitendinosus was positively correlated with the change in sprint velocity at the 50-60 m interval (p = 0.018 and ρ = 0.591). These findings suggest that semitendinosus hypertrophy seems to be associated with sprint performance improvement within well-trained sprinters during the maximal velocity phase., (© 2024 The Author(s). Background and Aims: The difficulty in radiographic confirmation of the presence of stones remains challenging in the treatment of intrahepatic bile duct (IHBD) stones in patients after hepaticojejunostomy (HJ). Peroral direct cholangioscopy (PDCS) enables direct observation of the bile duct and is useful for detecting and removing residual stones; however, its effectiveness is not clearly established in this clinical context., Methods: This single-center, single-arm, prospective study included 44 patients with IHBD who underwent bowel reconstruction with HJ during the study period. Stone removal was performed by using short-type double-balloon enteroscopy. After balloon-occluded cholangiography, the double-balloon enteroscopy was exchanged for an ultra-slim endoscope through the balloon overtube for PDCS. The primary end point was the rate of residual stones detected by PDCS. Secondary end points were success rate of PDCS, residual stone removal with PDCS, procedure time for PDCS, procedure-related adverse events, and stone recurrence rate., Results: PDCS was successful in 39 (89%) of 44 patients, among whom residual stones were detected in 16 (41%) (95% CI, 28%-54%). Twelve patients (75%) had residual stones <5 mm. Stone removal was successful in 15 (94%) patients, and median procedure time for PDCS was 16 minutes (interquartile range, 10-26 minutes). The rate of procedure-related adverse events was 7% (3 of 44); all adverse events improved with conservative treatment. Objective: Although astrocytic pathology is a pathological hallmark of progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), its pathophysiological role remains unclear. This study aimed to assess astrocyte reactivity in vivo in patients with PSP. Furthermore, we investigated alterations in brain lactate levels and their relationship with astrocyte reactivity., Methods: We included 30 patients with PSP-Richardson syndrome and 30 healthy controls; in patients, tau deposition was confirmed through 18 F-florzolotau positron emission tomography. Myo-inositol, an astroglial marker, and lactate were quantified in the anterior cingulate cortex through magnetic resonance spectroscopy. We measured plasma biomarkers, including glial fibrillary acidic protein as another astrocytic marker. The anterior cingulate cortex was histologically assessed in postmortem samples of another 3 patients with PSP with comparable disease durations., Results: The levels of myo-inositol and plasma glial fibrillary acidic protein were significantly higher in patients than those in healthy controls (p < 0.05); these increases were significantly associated with PSP rating scale and cognitive function scores (p < 0.05). The lactate level was high in patients, and correlated significantly with high myo-inositol levels. Histological analysis of the anterior cingulate cortex in patients revealed reactive astrocytes, despite mild tau deposition, and no marked synaptic loss., Interpretation: We discovered high levels of astrocyte biomarkers in patients with PSP, suggesting astrocyte reactivity. The association between myo-inositol and lactate levels suggests a link between reactive astrocytes and brain energy metabolism changes. Our results indicate that astrocyte reactivity in the anterior cingulate cortex precedes pronounced tau pathology and neurodegenerative processes in that region, and affects brain function in PSP. Purpose: Resistance training may be empirically believed to increase passive muscle stiffness. Meanwhile, a recent study showed that the passive stiffness of a specific hamstring muscle acutely decreased after eccentric-only resistance exercise at long muscle lengths with a long contraction duration (LL). To extend this finding, the present study investigated the chronic effects of eccentric-only resistance training with LL at different weekly frequencies on the passive stiffness of the biarticular hamstring muscles., Methods: Thirty-six healthy young males were assigned into two training groups with two and three weekly sessions (W2 and W3, n = 12, respectively) and a control group (CON, n = 12). The participants in both training groups performed eccentric-only stiff-leg deadlift at 50-100% of exercise range of motion (0% = upright position) with 5 s per repetition for 10 weeks. Before and after the intervention period, the shear moduli of the biarticular hamstring muscles, maximal voluntary isometric torque of knee flexion, and volumes of the individual hamstring muscles were measured., Results: In W3, the shear modulus of the semimembranosus (-11.4%) significantly decreased, whereas those of the other biarticular muscles did not change. There were no significant changes in the shear moduli of the biarticular hamstring muscles in W2 or CON. The isometric torque (20.3 and 26.2%, respectively) and semimembranosus volume (5.7% and 7.4%, respectively) were significantly increased in W2 and W3., Conclusions: Passive stiffness of a specific muscle could be chronically decreased when eccentric-only resistance training with LL is performed at a relatively high weekly frequency with a high total training volume. Background: Wheat grain development in the first few days after pollination determines the number of endosperm cells that influence grain yield potential and is susceptible to various environmental conditions, including high night temperatures (HNTs). Flag leaves and seed-associated bracts (glumes, awn, palea, and lemma) provide nutrients to the developing seed. However, the specific metabolic roles of these tissues are uncertain, especially their dynamics at different developmental stages and the time in a day. Tissue- and time-dependent metabolite profiling may hint at the metabolic roles of tissues and the mechanisms of how HNTs affect daytime metabolic status in early grain development., Results: The metabolite profiles of flag leaf, bract, seed (embryo and endosperm), and entire spike were analyzed at 12:00 (day) and 23:00 (night) on 2, 4, and 6 days after fertilization under control and HNT conditions. The metabolite levels in flag leaves and bracts showed day/night oscillations, while their behaviors were distinct between the tissues. Some metabolites, such as sucrose, cellobiose, and succinic acid, showed contrasting oscillations in the two photosynthetic tissues. In contrast, seed metabolite levels differed due to the days after fertilization rather than the time in a day. The seed metabolite profile altered earlier in the HNT than in the control condition, likely associated with accelerated grain development caused by HNT. HNT also disrupted the day/night oscillation of sugar accumulation in flag leaves and bracts., Conclusions: These results highlight distinct metabolic roles of flag leaves and bracts during wheat early seed development. The seed metabolite levels are related to the developmental stages. The early metabolic events in the seeds and the disruption of the day/night metabolic cycle in photosynthetic tissues may partly explain the adverse effects of HNT on grain yield., (© 2024. Although low estrogen is considered to suppress uterine endometrial carcinoma, the most cases occur in the postmenopausal stage. After menopause, the production of androgen level also declines. Therefore, to resolve the above enigma, we hypothesize that the postmenopausal decline of androgen is a trigger of its progression. In the present study, to validate this hypothesis, we examine the pathological roles of androgen/AR by analyzing clinical data, culturing endometrioid cancer cell lines, and using murine models. Clinical data show that androgen receptor (AR) expression and serum dihydrotestosterone (DHT) are associated with lower disease-free survival (DFS). DHT suppresses malignant behaviors in AR-transfected human endometrial cancer cells (ECC). In ovariectomized Pten ff /PR cre/+ mice, DHT decreases the proliferation of spontaneously developed murine ECC. In AR-transfected human ECC and Pten ff /PR cre/+ mice, DHT suppresses FOXP4 expression. FOXP4-overexpressed human ECC increases, while FOXP4-knocked-down ECC shows decreased malignant behaviors. DHT/AR-mediated ECC suppression is restored by FOXP4 overexpression. The high FOXP4 expression is significantly correlated with low postoperative DFS. These findings indicate that the androgen/AR system suppresses the malignant activity of endometrial carcinoma and that downstream FOXP4 is another target molecule. Purpose: This study aimed to quantify the changes in intratumoral blood flow after carbon-ion radiation therapy (CIRT) for early-stage breast cancer and analyze their clinical significance., Patients and Methods: We included 38 patients with early-stage breast cancer who underwent CIRT. Dynamic imaging was performed using a 3T superconducting magnetic resonance scanner to quantify the washin index (idx), which reflects contrast uptake, and washout idx, which reflects the rate of contrast washout from tumor tissue. The changes in the apparent diffusion coefficient, washin idx, and washout idx were examined before CIRT and at 1 and 3 months after treatment. Clinical factors and imaging features were examined using univariate and receiver operating characteristic curve analyses to identify factors predicting clinical complete response (cCR)., Results: The median observation period after CIRT was 51 (range: 12-122) months. During the observation period, 31 of the 38 patients achieved cCR, and 22 achieved cCR within 12 months. Tumor size ( P  < .001), washin idx ( P  = .043), and washout idx ( P  < .001) decreased significantly 1-month after CIRT. In contrast, the apparent diffusion coefficient values ( P  < .001) increased significantly 1-month after CIRT. Univariate analysis suggested that the washin idx after 1 and 3 months of CIRT was associated with cCR by 12 months post-CIRT ( P  = .028 and .021, respectively). No other parameters were associated with cCR by 12 months post-CIRT. Furthermore, receiver operating characteristic curve analyses showed that the area under the curve values of washin idx after 1 and 3 months of CIRT was 0.78 (specificity 75%, sensitivity 80%) and 0.73 (specificity 75%, sensitivity 71%), respectively., Conclusion: Tumor changes can be quantified early after CIRT using contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging in patients with breast cancer. Objective: Hepatic fibrosis has recently been evaluated using ultrasonography or magnetic resonance elastography. Although the shear wave velocity (SWV) obtained using point shear wave elastography (pSWE) provides a valuable measure of fibrosis, underlying steatosis may affect its measurement., Methods: Using hepatic fibrosis samples, this study evaluated the effect of steatosis on the shear wave velocity of pSWE (V s ) and viscoelastic properties (assessed by dynamic mechanical analysis) of rat liver. Fifty rats with various grades of steatosis and fibrosis underwent open abdominal in vivo V s measurements using a commercial ultrasound scanner. The mechanical properties of hepatic tissue were also characterized under ex vivo conditions using dynamic mechanical analysis and the Zener model of viscoelasticity., Results: Fibrosis and steatosis progression influenced V s and elasticity. The SWV computed using the Zener model and V s showed a substantial correlation (r > 0.8). Fibrosis progression increased SWV. Steatosis was also related to SWV. Steatosis progression obscured the SWV change associated with fibrosis progression., Conclusion: We conclude that steatosis progression affects the evaluation of fibrosis progression. Purpose: To perform an MRI compatibility study of an RF field-penetrable oval-shaped PET insert that implements an MRI built-in body RF coil both as a transmitter and a receiver., Methods: Twelve electrically floating RF shielded PET detector modules were used to construct the prototype oval PET insert with a major axis of 440 mm, a minor axis of 350 mm, and an axial length of 225 mm. The electric floating of the PET detector modules was accomplished by isolating the cable shield from the detector shield using plastic tape. Studies were conducted on the transmit (B 1 ) RF field, the image signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and the RF pulse amplitude for a homogeneous cylindrical (diameter: 160 mm and length: 260 mm) phantom (NaCl + NiSO 4 solution) in a 3 T clinical MRI system (Verio, Siemens, Erlangen, Germany)., Results: The B 1 maps for the oval insert were similar to the MRI-only field responses. Compared to the MRI-only values, SNR reductions of 51%, 45%, and 59% were seen, respectively, for the spin echo (SE), gradient echo (GE), and echo planar (EPI) images for the case of oval PET insert. Moreover, the required RF pulse amplitudes for the SE, GE, and EPI sequences were, respectively, 1.93, 1.85, and 1.36 times larger. However, a 30% reduction in the average RF reception sensitivity was observed for the oval insert., Conclusions: The prototype floating PET insert was a safety concern for the clinical MRI system, and this compatibility study provided clearance for developing a large body size floating PET insert for the existing MRI system. Because of the RF shield of the insert, relatively large RF powers compared to the MRI-only case were required. Background : This study aimed to assess the completion rate and postoperative bleeding incidence of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for gastric tumors under continuous antithrombotic therapy. Methods : A prospective observational study was conducted including 88 patients with 100 gastric lesions who underwent gastric endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and received continuous antithrombotic therapy. Additionally, retrospective data on gastric ESD in 479 patients with 534 lesions who did not receive antithrombotic therapy were collected for comparison. Results : The en bloc resection rates (100% in the continuous antithrombotic therapy group vs. 100% in the non-antithrombotic therapy group) and complete resection rates (97.0% vs. 96.3%, respectively) were high and comparable between the groups. No significant differences were found in the specimen size or procedure time. Perforation rates were low (0% vs. 2.3%, respectively) and were not significantly different between the groups. However, postoperative bleeding occurred significantly more frequently in the continuous antithrombotic therapy group (10.2% vs. 4.2%, respectively) than in the non-antithrombotic therapy group. The subgroup analysis revealed a higher incidence of postoperative bleeding in patients receiving thienopyridine derivatives. Conclusions : Continuous administration of antithrombotic agents, especially thienopyridines, increased the risk of postprocedural hemorrhage following gastric ESD. These findings support the need for careful consideration of pharamcological management before ESD, aligning with the current guidelines.

Background: Identifying programmed death-ligand-1 (PD-L1) expression is crucial for optimizing treatment strategies involving immune checkpoint inhibitors. However, the role of intratumoral metabolic heterogeneity specifically derived from 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) images in predicting PD-L1 expression in patients with newly diagnosed non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains unexplored. Here, we investigated the association between FDG PET texture features and PD-L1 expression by retrospectively analyzing the data of patients newly diagnosed with NSCLC who underwent FDG PET/CT scans and PD-L1 immunohistochemical staining before treatment. Methods: Patients were categorized based on their tumor proportion scores (TPSs) into negative-, low-, and high-PD-L1 expression groups. We computed the maximum standardized uptake value and 31 texture features for the primary tumor from PET images and compared differences in parameters among the groups. Results: Of the 83 patients, 12, 45, and 26 were assigned to the negative-, low-, and high-PD-L1 expression groups, respectively. Six specific texture features (low gray-level run emphasis, short-run low gray-level emphasis, long-run high gray-level emphasis, low gray-level zone emphasis, high gray-level zone emphasis, and short-zone low gray-level emphasis) helped distinguish among all possible combinations. Conclusions: Our findings revealed that FDG PET texture features are potential imaging biomarkers for predicting PD-L1 expression in patients newly diagnosed with NSCLC.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the RF field responses of partial-ring RF-shielded oval-shaped positron emission tomography (PET) inserts that are used in combination with an MRI body RF coil. Partial-ring PET insert is particularly suitable for interventional investigation (e.g., trimodal PET/MRI/ultrasound imaging) and intraoperative (e.g., robotic surgery) PET/MRI studies. In this study, we used electrically floating Faraday RF shield cages to construct different partial-ring configurations of oval and cylindrical PET inserts and performed experiments on the RF field, spin echo and gradient echo images for a homogeneous phantom in a 3 T clinical MRI system. For each geometry, partial-ring configurations were studied by removing an opposing pair or a single shield cage from different positions of the PET ring. Compared to the MRI-only case, reduction in mean RF homogeneity, flip angle, and SNR for the detector opening in the first and third quadrants was approximately 13%, 15%, and 43%, respectively, whereas the values were 8%, 23%, and 48%, respectively, for the detector openings in the second and fourth quadrants. The RF field distribution also varied for different partial-ring configurations. Mitochondrial cytochrome c maturation (CCM) requires heme attachment via distinct pathways termed systems I and III. The mosaic distribution of these systems in Archaeplastida raises questions about the genetic mechanisms and evolutionary forces promoting repeated evolution. Here, we show a recurrent shift from ancestral system I to the eukaryotic-specific holocytochrome c synthase (HCCS) of system III in 11 archaeplastid lineages. Archaeplastid HCCS is sufficient to rescue mutants of yeast system III and Arabidopsis system I. Algal HCCS mutants exhibit impaired growth and respiration, and altered biochemical and metabolic profiles, likely resulting from deficient CCM and reduced cytochrome c-dependent respiratory activity. Our findings demonstrate that archaeplastid HCCS homologs function as system III components in the absence of system I. These results elucidate the evolutionary trajectory and functional divergence of CCM pathways in Archaeplastida, providing insight into the causes, mechanisms, and consequences of repeated cooption of an entire biological pathway., (© 2024. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to do a feasibility study on a microstrip transmission line (MS) RF coil for a positron emission tomography (PET) insert in a 7 Tesla human MRI system. The proposed MS coil integrated the RF shield of the PET detector as the ground conductor of the coil. We called the integrated module "MS PET coil.", Methods: A single-channel MS PET coil was developed with an integrated RF-shielded PET detector module. For comparison, we also studied a conventional MS coil with a single-layer ground conductor. A lutetium fine silicate (LFS) scintillation crystal block (14 × 14 × 4-layer) with a silicon photomultiplier (Hamamatsu Photonics K.K., Shizuoka, Japan) and a front-end readout circuit board were mounted inside the shield cage of the MS PET coil. The MS PET coil was studied with and without PET detectors. All three coil configurations were studied with a homogeneous phantom in a 7T MRI system (Siemens Healthineers, Erlangen, Germany). PET data measurements were conducted using a Cesium-137 radiation point source., Results: The MR images were similar for the MS coil and the empty MS PET coil, as well as for the cases of MS PET coil with and without PET measurements. Compared to the empty MS PET coil (without PET detector and cable RF shield), decreases in SNR, increases in image noise and RF power, and a slight decrease in resonance frequency were seen for the case of the MS PET coil with the detector and cable shield. Differences in the PET energy histograms or in the crystal identification maps with and without MRI measurements were negligible., Conclusions: Both the MRI and PET performances of the MS PET coil showed responses that matched the MS coil responses. The performance variations of MRI data with and without PET measurement and PET data with and without MR imaging were negligible.

Gallbladder cancer incidence has been increasing globally, and it remains challenging to expect long prognosis with the current systemic chemotherapy. We identified a novel nucleic acid-mediated therapeutic target against gallbladder cancer by using innovative organoid-based gallbladder cancer models generated from Kras LSL-G12D/+ ; Trp53 f/f mice. Using comprehensive microRNA expression analyses and a bioinformatics approach, we identified significant microRNA-34a-5p downregulation in both murine gallbladder cancer organoids and resected human gallbladder cancer specimens. In three different human gallbladder cancer cell lines, forced microRNA-34a-5p expression inhibited cell proliferation and induced cell-cycle arrest at the G1 phase by suppressing direct target ( CDK6 ) expression. Furthermore, comprehensive RNA sequencing revealed the significant enrichment of gene sets related to the cell-cycle regulators after microRNA-34a-5p expression in gallbladder cancer cells. In a murine xenograft model, locally injected microRNA-34a-5p mimics significantly inhibited gallbladder cancer progression and downregulated CDK6 expression. These results provide a rationale for promising therapeutics against gallbladder cancer by microRNA-34a-5p injection, as well as a strategy to explore therapeutic targets against cancers using organoid-based models, especially for those lacking useful genetically engineered murine models, such as gallbladder cancer., Competing Interests: The authors declare no competing interests., (© 2024 The Author(s).)
