Abstract

Structure functions, as measured in lepton-nucleon scattering, have proven to be very useful in studying the quark dynamics within the nucleon. However, it is experimentally difficult to separately determine the longitudinal and transverse structure functions, and consequently there are substantially less data available for the longitudinal structure function in particular. Here we present separated structure functions for hydrogen and deuterium at low four--momentum transfer squared, Q^2< 1 GeV^2, and compare these with parton distribution parameterizations and a k_T factorization approach. While differences are found, the parameterizations generally agree with the data even at the very low Q^2 scale of the data. The deuterium data show a smaller longitudinal structure function, and smaller ratio of longitudinal to transverse cross section R, than the proton. This suggests either an unexpected difference in R for the proton and neutron or a suppression of the gluonic distribution in nuclei., Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures, 2 data tables

Abstract

The parking status has various managing solutions in urban areas. In recent decades, smartening has grown up. In the other hand, Camera-Based parking has significant capacity for urban transport management and revenue generation. So, the purpose of this study is to investigate the role and feature of camera-based smart parking in urban spaces. It extracts the necessary infrastructure and strategies to set up and optimize the use. Fifteen academic and executive experts have been interviewed to identify the primary infrastructure. Six core codes were identified through theme-analysis. The selected key strategies were prioritized using the QSPM Quantitative Planning Matrix. SWOT analysis shows the superior of strength and opportunities than the threats and weaknesses. In conclusion, aggressive strategies (SO) has been obtained by two possible areas (ST and WO) and can be used by urban managers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

There is growing interest in finding new sources of 225Ac, an isotope with potential use in the treatment of metastatic disease. Proposed production alternatives include the proton irradiation of thorium above 100 MeV, however, concerns exist about the co-production of the long-lived and toxic 227Ac. This work describes the design and simulated yields for a thorium target that will be irradiated at TRIUMF, and also proposes a post-irradiation chemical isolation procedure that produces two separate 225Ac products: the first by direct production from the irradiation, and the second from the isolation of Ra isotopes that form a generator of 225Ac. FLUKA simulations combined with models of the proposed chemical isolation procedures suggest that a 1130 μA⋅hr irradiation at 90 μA of a target containing 1 g of thorium will directly produce 42.2 MBq of 225Ac with 0.08 MBq of 227Ac. The generator-produced 225Ac fraction will contain less activity of higher purity: 2.2 MBq of 225Ac and <1Bq of 227Ac. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the implementation of the law that liberalizes voluntary abortion in Uruguay and enables health services to offer these services to the population., Methods: The legal and regulatory provisions are described and the national data-provided by the Ministry of Public Health's National Information System (SINADI)-on the number of voluntary terminations of pregnancy, the abortion method (medical or surgical), and whether it was performed as an outpatient or inpatient are analyzed. To determine complications, the number of maternal deaths and admissions to intensive care units for pregnant women was used. The study period ran from December 1, 2012, to December 31, 2014., Results: A total of 15 996 abortions were performed during the study period; only 1.2% were surgical and 98.8% were medical. Of the latter, only 3.4% required hospitalization. Less than half of the pregnancies were terminated up to 9 weeks of gestation and 54% were at 10 to 12 weeks in a sample from the Pereira Rossell Hospital., Conclusion: The rapid nationwide rollout of voluntary termination of pregnancy services to all women was possible to a large degree thanks to the availability and broad acceptance of medical abortion, facilitated by the prior experience in applying the risk and harm reduction strategy., (© 2016 The Authors.
