In three surveys of adults in five nations, we investigated how shared beliefs about the political system motivate individuals' political engagement. Specifically, we tested whether individuals' beliefs that the political context is fair, noncorrupt, and their belief that they could influence politics motivates political engagement to a higher extent for higher- compared to lower-status group members. In a novel use of social dominance theory, we theoretically conceived of these political beliefs as legitimizing ideologies, so that we predicted that people with higher social dominance orientation endorse these beliefs, which in turn enhance the motivation to engage in politics to support current social hierarchical systems. Moreover, we expected that these relationships would be stronger for higher- compared to lower-status groups. These hypotheses were tested considering different levels of group status: wealth status within a country (Study 1), political-regional differences within a country (Study 2), and international status (i.e., between countries; Study 3), and they were largely supported.

U.S.-based research suggests conservatism is linked with less concern about contracting coronavirus and less preventative behaviors to avoid infection. Here, we investigate whether these tendencies are partly attributable to distrust in scientific information, and evaluate whether they generalize outside the U.S., using public data and recruited representative samples across four studies (Ntotal=37,790). In Studies 1–3, we examine these relationships in the U.S., yielding converging evidence for a sequential indirect effect of conservatism on compliance through scientific (dis)trust and infection concern. In Study 4, we compare these relationships across 19 distinct countries, finding that they are strongest in North America, extend to support for lockdown restrictions, and that the indirect effects do not fully appear in any other country in our sample other than Indonesia. These effects suggest that rather than a general distrust in science, whether or not conservatism predicts coronavirus outcomes depends upon national contexts.

While public health crises such as the coronavirus pandemic transcend national borders, practical efforts to combat them are often instantiated at the national level. Thus, national group identities may play key roles in shaping compliance with and support for preventative measures (e.g., hygiene and lockdowns). Using data from 25,159 participants across representative samples from 21 nations, we investigated how different modalities of ingroup identification (attachment and glorification) are linked with reactions to the coronavirus pandemic (compliance and support for lockdown restrictions). We also examined the extent to which the associations of attachment and glorification with responses to the coronavirus pandemic are mediated through trust in information about the coronavirus pandemic from scientific and government sources. Multilevel models suggested that attachment, but not glorification, was associated with increased trust in science and compliance with federal COVID-19 guidelines. However, while both attachment and glorification were associated with trust in government and support for lockdown restrictions, glorification was more strongly associated with trust in government information than attachment. These results suggest that both attachment and glorification can be useful for promoting public health, although glorification's role, while potentially stronger, is restricted to pathways through trust in government information.

Objectives This study aims to assess the possible relationship between 99mTc-pertechnetate hand perfusion scintigraphy (HPS) and nailfold capillaroscopy (NC) in systemic sclerosis (SSc) patients. Patients and methods The study group consisted of 25 SSc patients (6 males; 19 females; mean age 54.2±9.7 years; range, 32 to 67 years), 18 female patients with primary Raynaud's phenomenon (PRP) (mean age 47.1±9.5 years; range, 34 to 65 years) and 10 healthy individuals (3 males, 7 females; mean age 52.7±12.6 years; range, 37 to 73 years). NC and 99mTc-pertechnetate HPS were performed in all examinees. The capillaroscopic findings were classified as normal or scleroderma pattern ("early", "active", or "late"). The fingers-to-palm ratios were calculated for both blood flow (BF) and blood pool (BP) phases of the 99mTc-pertechnetate HPS. Results Systemic sclerosis patients showed a significantly lower BP ratio than PRP patients and healthy subjects (p=0.004). No statistically significant difference was observed between the SSc and PRP patients in respect to BF ratio. A gradual decrease of BF and BP with the severity of NC microangiopathy pattern ("early", "active" or "late") was found in SSc patients, while the differences were not statistically significant. Patients with diffuse SSc showed lower BF and higher BP than those with limited SSc, while these differences were without statistical significance. There was no significant correlation between BF or BP values and type of SSc (limited or diffuse) (p=0.77 versus p=0.54, respectively) as well as three microangiopathy patterns (p=0.22 versus p=0.54, respectively). Conclusion 99mTc-pertechnetate HPS improves the evaluation of vascular damage in SSc patients. There is no direct relationship between NC and 99mTc-pertechnetate HPS; however, the two methods complement each other in the assessment of microcirculation in SSc.

Online dialogue has tremendous potential to influence intergroup relations in conflict-ridden societies. Although prior research has identified intergroup harmony and justice as two distinct approaches to intergroup contact, little is known about whether online dialogue would foster a harmony- or justice-oriented discourse around conflict. To examine this question, the present study implemented a pre-post within-subjects design around a 4-week online dialogue intervention with Bosniaks and Serbs in the postconflict context of former Yugoslavia. Analyses of pre-post surveys suggest that the dialogue may have fostered a justice-oriented discourse among both Bosniaks and Serbs, who showed greater group identification and demands for justice after the dialogue compared to before the dialogue. There was also lower support for the goal of improving relationships and higher prioritization of discussions of justice after the dialogue. Exploring the linguistic content of the dialogue during the 4-week intervention further revealed that expressions of anger and anxiety decreased, whereas time orientations toward the present increased over time, suggesting that the justice-focused dialogue was not necessarily accompanied by explicit hostility over past atrocities. These findings help inform future interventions in postconflict societies, especially the use of online platforms to shape the discourse of conflict.

In this article we use a social representational perspective on a large sample of European students to consider the interplay between pacifist attitudes and representations of World War I (WWI). WWI gave rise to pacifist movements across the globe. Across 10 European countries (N = 1,347 undergraduate students), we invited participants to report the first 5 words that came to their mind when thinking about this event and measured their level of pacifism. Analyses of the reported words revealed the presence of seven lexical classes corresponding to 2 main perspectives on WWI. The first main perspective was characterized by "analytical" representations of the war, with a focus on the places and actors of WWI. The second perspective highlighted negative emotions and appraisals associated with war. Overall, we found that the pacifist attitudes we analyzed were associated with a view of the conflict in terms of negatively valanced words, both at the emotional level and in terms of concrete consequences. Conversely lower pacifist attitudes were linked with an emphasis upon weapons. The present results help fill a gap in the literature on attitudes toward peace and war by evidencing their interplay with the way individuals view war. These findings allow us to establish a connection between mainstream, individualcentered approach to attitudes relying on individual premises and social representation theory. Moreover, in line with historical scholarship, these results suggest that a common interpretational framework underlies a view of the conflict associated with the pacifist wave that emerged 100 years ago and current pacifist attitudes. Finally, the present study is the first large scale psychology study of the social representations of the Great War.

IntroductionThe aim was to assess the diagnostic value of 99mTc-Tektrotyd scintigraphy (TCT) and positron emission tomography/computed tomography using F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG PET/CT) in the detection and follow-up of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), and their predictive value for disease progression.Material and methodsIn this retrospective cohort, TCT and 18F-FDG PET/CT were performed in 90 patients (37 men, 53 women, mean age 52.7 ±15.1), with NET. Correlation of Ki67 and tumor grade versus Krenning score and SUVmax was assessed, Kaplan-Meier analysis was used for progression-free survival (PFS), and Cox regression analysis was performed to identify the association between progression-related factors and PFS.ResultsOut of 90, true positive TCT was detected in 56 (62.2%) patients, true negative in 19 (21.1%), false positive in 4 (4.4%), false negative in 11 (12.2%), while 18F-FDG PET/CT was true positive in 69 (76.7%) patients, true negative in 10 (11.1%), false positive in 5 (5.5%), false negative in 6 (6.7%). Mean 18F-FDG PET/CT SUVmax was 6.8 ±6.2. Diagnostic sensitivity of TCT was 83.6%, specificity 82.6%, accuracy 83.3% vs. 18F-FDG PET/CT sensitivity was 92.0%, specificity 66.7%, accuracy 87.8%. A significant correlation between Ki67 and SUVmax was found in positive 18F-FDG PET/CT findings, unlike the correlation between Ki67 and Krenning score. Median PFS was 25 months (95% CI: 18.2–31.8), in 18F-FDG PET/CT positive patients 23 months (95% CI: 16.3–29.7) and 18F-FDG PET/CT negative 26 months (p = 0.279). Progression-free survival predictors were SUVmax and Krenning score.ConclusionsIn our study, TCT and 18F-FDG PET/CT have high diagnostic accuracy in detection of NET. Higher Krenning score on TCT and SUVmax in positive 18F-FDG PET/CT findings are predictors of disease progression. 99mTc-Tektrotyd scintigraphy and 18F-FDG PET/CT can be useful complementary tools in management of patients with NETs and in predicting patients’ outcome.

The current pilot study investigated the psychological mechanisms behind ethnic outgroup aggression, a significant outcome of intergroup conflicts. While previous research suggested several impactful predictors of ethnic outgroup aggression, such as intergroup contact and nationalism, no attempt has been made to synthesize all these constructs into a single cross-cultural study. Building on existing research, this pilot study is the first to assess a refined framework where we tested a proposed mediation model according to nationalism and emotion regulation mediate the relationship between intergroup contact, susceptibility to persuasion, and intergroup anxiety on the one hand and ethnic outgroup aggression on the other hand within a cross-cultural sample. An online questionnaire was distributed using convenience sampling among 2482 students with an ethnic majority background living and studying in ten (European) countries. Multigroup path analysis supported the larger part of the hypothesized model where we found that emotion regulation partially mediated the relationship between susceptibility to persuasion as a predictor and aggression as an outcome. As expected, we found that the higher the susceptibility to persuasion, the higher the emotion regulation, and the higher the regulation, the lower the aggression in all countries. Our pilot study provided preliminary evidence that emotion regulation, nationalism and susceptibility to persuasion are critical for the understanding of ethnic outgroup aggression in ethnically diverse societies. Future research needs to be carried out focusing on the development of an intergroup anxiety assessment in which possible gender differences in assessed constructs are considered.

The moral roles assigned to nations that took part in the Second World War cast a shadow over contemporary international politics. To understand contemporary moral beliefs about the war, we took 11 mostly student samples from 9 nations that took part in the European theatre of war (total N = 1,427). We asked respondents, in free and scaled listings, to identify the war’s heroes, villains, victims, and recipients of help. Nations and individuals seen as heroes, victims, and villains could be readily identified by most samples and showed both continuity and difference across nations. Most nations preferentially assigned themselves hero and victim roles, and the two were correlated positively, showing ingroup favouritism linked to victimhood. These findings show the importance of morality to contemporary views of the war and suggest further directions for studying today’s political climate in Europe and elsewhere.

In two different intergroup contexts, three studies investigated the role of temporal distance in responses to intergroup violence from both victim and perpetrator perspectives. In the context of the conflict between Serbs and Bosniaks, Study 1 showed that whereas increased subjective temporal distance predicted less support for justice-restoring efforts and less outgroup empathy among the perpetrator group (Serbs), it predicted more conciliatory, pro-outgroup attitudes among the victim group (Bosniaks). Furthermore, Bosniaks perceived the war as temporally closer than did Serbs. In the context of the U.S.–Iran conflict, Study 2 provided a partial conceptual replication of Study 1 and demonstrated that ingroup glorification motivated more temporal distancing among perpetrators and less temporal distancing among victims. Study 3 further established the causal effects of temporal distance on intergroup outcomes, and that these effects were moderated by glorification. Implications for post-conflict peacebuilding are discussed.

Introduction. Positron emission tomography (PET) with computed tomography (CT) using fluorine- 18-labeled fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG PET/CT) is a hybrid diagnostic method based on the cell?s glucose uptake detection, which correlates with the degree of disease activity. While other diagnostic procedures fail to evaluate functional tissue, 18F-FDG PET/CT can be helpful in discovering active disease in patients with vascular graft infection. Methods. This cohort retrospective study included 22 patients (17 male, five female; aged 61.7 ? 16.1) with suspected vascular graft infection. Blood analyses and CT were performed in all patients. Degree of glucose uptake was evaluated visually and semiquantitatively using maximal standardized uptake value (SUVmax). Findings were considered positive if focal fluoro-deoxyglucose (FDG) accumulation was greater in vascular graft projection than other parts of the blood vessel and liver. Results. The sighs of active disease were found in 19 patients (86%) (16 male, three female) at the level of implanted vascular grafts: six aortobifemoral (27%), four aortoiliac (18.2%), four of abdominal aorta (18.2%), two of thoracic aorta (9.1%), two femoral (9.1%), one femoropopliteal (4.5%) (SUVmax 7.9 + 2.4). Two patients were considered true and one false negative- due to antibiotic usage, which reduces FDG uptake. PET/CT helped in treatment alteration of 12 patients, seven (31.8%) started new medicament therapy, five (22.7%) had a surgical graft replacement. Overall sensitivity of this method is 95%, specificity 100%, positive predictive value 100%, negative predictive value 66.6%, accuracy 95.4%. Conclusion. 18F-FDG PET/CT is a useful diagnostic method in detection of active vascular graft infection with high diagnostic accuracy, which is important in avoiding unnecessary surgery and appropriate therapy planning.

Introduction: 18F-deoxy-glucose positron emission tomography combined with computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) is routinely used in the detection of malignant disease based on the property of malignant cells to fuel their growth and replication by increased glucose uptake. Malignant lesions are rare in the sellar region, while pituitary adenomas are the most common pathology. These are benign neoplasms with insidious onset and low proliferation activity, and therefore are only exceptionally detected by 18F-FDG PET/CT. Studies that compare the biology of pituitary adenomas and their radiological properties using PET/CT are still lacking. Case report: We investigate and discuss tumour biology in light of increased 18F-FDG avidity in a symptom-free, 70-year-old male patient, previously treated for two different malignancies (lung and rectal). Increased tracer accumulation in the sellar region was incidentally detected on a follow-up 18F-FDG PET/CT scan. Additional MRI disclosed pituitary adenoma. Normal hormonal status was found, consistent with the diagnosis of non-functioning pituitary adenoma. Analysis of tumour tissue after pituitary surgery confirmed a silent gonadotroph adenoma with low proliferation index. Low expression of oncogene-induced senescence markers did not support senescence as the explanation for the tumour’s low proliferative activity although it was in consonance with the hormonal activity. Conclusions: Pituitary adenomas can manifest as hypermetabolic foci on 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging with increased tracer uptake even in indolent, clinically silent pituitary adenomas with low mitotic activity. Special attention should be paid to evaluation of 18F-FDG avid pituitary adenomas in patients with multiple malignancies, bearing in mind that avidity does not always mirror its biological behaviour.

Ovaj rad predstavlja komparativnu studiju sačinjenu od četiri istraživanja obavljena u periodu od 1997. do 2015. godine. U njima se ispituje konotativno značenje politički relevantnih pojmova kod učenika završnih razreda raznih vrsta srednjih škola. Kako je konotativno značenje ono dodatno, emocionalno obojeno značenje, ta obojenost potiče iz socijalne sredine i duha vremena, te je sa promenama ovoga značenja moguće pratiti i promene dominantnih društvenih vrednosti i društvene klime. Uzorak je činilo ukupno oko 750 učenika koji su u četiri vremenske tačke (poduzorci su u tim tačkama bili ujednačeni po socijalno-demografskim karakteristikama) procenjivali sledeće pojmove: nacija, nacionalizam, socijalizam, vođa, demokratija, mir, levica, desnica, sadašnjost i budućnost. Svaki od pojmova ispitan je Ozgudovom skalom semantičkog diferencijala preko 12 opozitnih parova prideva poput ružan-lep ili bezvredan- vredan. Rezultati su pokazali značajna variranja kako na 12 pridevskih parova na svakom pojmu u jednoj vremenskoj tački – što daje suptilniji profil značenja nego što bi dala opšta, jedinstvena ocena pojmova poput demokratije ili nacije – tako i u četiri vremenske tačke. Variranja tokom godina daju indicije o promeni društvene klime i vrednosti, barem u generaciji mladih, u ovom po Srbiju turbulentnom razdoblju od dve decenije., This paper is a comparative study composed of four studies conducted between 1997 and 2015. The authors examine the connotative meaning of politically relevant concepts in 18-19 years old students from various types of secondary schools. The connotative meaning is an additional, emotionally colored meaning of words, and this coloration originates from the social environment and the spirit of the times. Therefore, with the changes of this meaning it is possible to follow the changes of dominant social values and social climate. The sample consisted of a total of 750 students assessing the following concepts, at four time points (sub-samples at these points were balanced in terms of socio-demographic characteristics): nation, nationalism, socialism, leader, democracy, peace, left, right, present and future. Each of the concepts is examined by Ozgud’s scale of semantic differential, through 12 opposing pairs of adjectives like bad – good or worthless – worthy. The results showed considerable variation in both: 12 adjective pairs on each single concept at a single point in time – giving a more subtle profile of meaning than in case of a general assessment of the concepts – and over time. The variations over the years give indications of a change in social climate and values, at least in the generation of young people, in these turbulent two decades in Serbia.

The effects of active separation control by steady blowing jets were investigated numerically on three different examples: subsonic flow past Aerospatiale A airfoil at 13? angle-of-attack, transonic flow past NACA 0012 airfoil at 4? angle-ofattack, and transonic flow in linear compressor/turbine cascade. Performed analyses are two-dimensional, flow is turbulent (or transitional) while fluid is viscous and compressible. Jets are positioned along the suction sides of the foils, the first one being located just upstream of the separation point, and modeled by source terms added to flow equations. Several different jet diameters and intensities are investigated. As the choice of turbulence model affects the final solution of Reynolds equations, turbulence is modeled by four different models: Spalart- Allmaras, realizable k-?, k-? SST, and ?-Re?, and a comparison of obtained results is performed. Goals of the study include definition of an adequate numerical setting that enables sufficiently correct simulation of the problems in question as well as evaluation of the possible increase in aerodynamic performances. Lift coefficients, lift-to-drag ratios or relative pressure differences are improved for all controlled cases.

An airfoil was parameterized using the class-shape transformation technique and then optimized via genetic algorithm. The aerodynamic characteristics of the airfoil were obtained with the use of a CFD software. The automated numerical technique was validated using available experimental data and then the optimization procedure was repeated for few different turbulence models. The obtained optimized airfoils were then compared in order to gain some insight on the influence of the different turbulence models on the optimization result. We assess the usefulness of 99mTc-pertechnetate hand perfusion scintigraphy in patients with Raynaud’s phenomenon (RP). The study population consisted of 18 patients with primary RP, 25 patients with secondary RP within systemic sclerosis (SSc), and ten healthy individuals. Gamma camera dynamic first-pass study during the first 60 s and a static scintigraphy after 5 min were recorded following a bolus injection of 99mTc-pertechnetate via a cubital vein. Regions of interest were drawn on the summed images around the fingers and the palmar region. The fingers-to-palm ratios were then calculated. The mean fingers-to-palm ratio for dynamic study (blood flow) was 0.58 ± 0.19 for the healthy group, 0.45 ± 0.18 for the primary RP, and 0.43 ± 0.21 for the SSc patients. The mean fingers-to-palm ratio for static study (blood pool) was 0.44 ± 0.06 for the healthy group, 0.42 ± 0.06 for the primary RP, and 0.36 ± 0.07 for the SSc patients. Analysis of variance showed these differences to be significant (p = 0.039 from blood flow and p = 0.004 from blood pool). The receiver operating characteristic curve showed sensitivity of 80% and a specificity of 60% when using cutoff values of 0.40 for blood flow and sensitivity of 79% and a specificity of 70% when using cutoff values of 0.37 for blood pool. Our method is able to differentiate between patients with normal and those with abnormal microcirculation of the hands. Dynamic study separates the healthy subjects from patients with RP, while static study separates primary from secondary RP.

BACKGROUND: This paper is the short review of our preliminary results obtained with 99mTc-EDDA/HYNIC-TOC. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The total of 495 patients with different neuroendocrine tumors were investigated during last few years. RESULTS: There have been 334 true positive (TP), 73 true negative (TN), 6 false positive (FP) and 82 false negative findings (FN). Diagnosis was made according to SPECT findings in 122 patients (25%). The mean T/NT ratio for TP cases was significantly higher (p < 0.01) on SPECT (3.12 ± 1.13) than on whole body scan (2.2 ± 0.75). According to our results, overall sensitivity of the method is 80%, specificity 92%, positive predictive value 98%, negative predictive value 47% and accuracy 82%. Fifteen TP patients underwent therapy with 90Y-DOTATATE. CONCLUSION: Scintigraphy of neuroendocrine tumors with 99mTc-Tektrotyd is a useful method for diagnosis, staging and follow up of the patients suspected to have neuroendocrine tumors. SPECT had important role in diagnosis. It is also helpful in the appropriate choice of the therapy, including the peptide receptor radionuclide therapy. In the absence of 68Ga-labeled peptides and PET/CT, the special emphasize should be given to application of SPECT/CT as well as to the radioguided surgery.

When it comes to the factors that influence professional commitment of students, psychology literature mainly states the role of school, peers, parents, material and social factors, and less so personality features, aims, expectations, personal and social values. This paper deals with the preference of personal and social values viewed as targets in the context of choosing a university department and, with it, future profession. Two lists were used - 18 personal and 18 social values. The sample included 497 last-year-grammar-school students. The research was conducted in school conditions in Belgrade and several cities in Serbia. The results show that the majority of students (55%) would opt for social-humanistic and medical-biological and less for technical and natural sciences. It turned out that gender and the type of high school courses are significant variables linked with the selection of studies and faculties, while other socio-demographic variables were not significant. The results also show that there are significant differences in the levels of acceptance of some values while, viewed globally, greater importance is given to personal than social values, which justifies the initial idea of the author that personal and social values should be examined separately because they affect professional commitment of high school students differently.

Four experiments examined people's responses to intergroup violence either committed or suffered by their own group. Experiment 1 demonstrated that Serbs who strongly glorified Serbia were more supportive of future violence against, and less willing to reconcile with, Bosniaks after reading about Serbian victimization by Bosniaks rather than Serbian transgressions against Bosniaks. Replicating these effects with Americans in the context of American–Iranian tensions, Experiment 2 further showed that demands for retributive justice explained why high glorifiers showed asymmetrical reactions to ingroup victimization vs. perpetration. Again in the Serb and the American context, respectively, Experiments 3 and 4 demonstrated that post-conflict international criminal tribunals can help satisfy victim group members' desire for retributive justice, and thereby reduce their support for future violence and increase their willingness to reconcile with the perpetrator group. The role of retributive justice and the use of international criminal justice in intergroup conflict (reduction) are discussed.

Plenty of space in psychological literature was dedicated to professional orientation of students, where the role of school, peers, parents, material and social factors was more studied while the role of personality traits, goals, expectations, personal and social values was studied less. This paper is focused on preference of personal and social values that we have defined as certain goals which are important within the context of choice of faculty, and thus, the future profession. We used two lists of goals - 18 personal and 18 social, which were applied to the sample of 497 high school graduates, where the sample consisted of 37,4% boys and 62,6% girls. The study was conducted in the field, at the end of 2014/2015 school year, within standard school conditions. Preference and level of goal importance the respondents expressed by giving only one answer for each personal and social value at the 5-point Likert- type scale, which enabled application of descriptive statistics methods, correlation and discriminant analysis in statistical data processing. The study results show that there are significant differences in preference of certain goals, as well as relation between importance of goals with expectations for achieving them through choice of faculty and future profession. Also, there is relation between the level of desire for doing the preferred profession and level of expectations that one may achieve his/her goals through the profession. In addition, it is shown that there are significant differences in the level of accepting certain goals as values, where more importance is given to personal than to social values, which is verified by validity of the author’s initial attitude that personal and social values should be separately studied, as they have different importance for professional orientation of young people.

Objective: To determine the prevalence of abdominal involvement, distribution pattern and evaluate role of hybrid molecular imaging in patients with abdominal sarcoidosis.Methods:Between January 2010 and December 2011, 98 patients with chronic sarcoidosis and presence of prolonged symptoms or other findings suggestive of active disease were referred to FDG PET/CT examination. Active disease was found in 82 patients, and they all were screened for the presence of abdominal sarcoidosis on FDG PET/CT. All patients also underwent MDCT and assessment of serum ACE level. Follow up FDG PET/CT examination was done 12.3±5.4 months after the baseline.Results:Abdominal sarcoidosis was present in 31/82 patients with active sarcoidosis. FDG uptake was present in: retroperitoneal lymph nodes (77%), liver (26%), spleen (23%), adrenal gland (3%). Majority of patients had more than two locations of disease. Usually thoracic disease was spread into the extrathoracic localizations, while isolated abdominal sarcoidosis was present in 10% of patients. After first FDG PET/CT examination therapy was changed in all patients. Eleven patients came to the follow up examination where SUVmax significantly decreased in the majority of them. Three patients had total remission, three had absence of abdominal disease but discrete findings in thorax and others had less spread disease. ACE levels did not correlate with SUVmax level.Conclusion:FDG PET/CT can be a useful tool for detection of abdominal sarcoidosis and in the evaluation of therapy response in these patients. Awareness of the presence of intra-abdominal sarcoidosis is important in order to prevent long-standing unrecognized disease.

Previous studies have documented links between sub-clinical narcissism and the active pursuit of short-term mating strategies (e.g., unrestricted sociosexuality, marital infidelity, mate poaching). Nearly all of these investigations have relied solely on samples from Western cultures. In the current study, responsesfrom a cross-cultural survey of 30,470 people across 53 nations spanning 11 world regions (North America, Central/South America, Northern Europe, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Southern Europe, Middle East, Africa, Oceania, Southeast Asia, and East Asia) were used to evaluate whether narcissism (as measured by the Narcissistic Personality Inventory; NPI) was universally associated with short-term mating. Results revealed narcissism scores (including two broad factors and seven traditional facets as measured by the NPI) were functionally equivalent across cultures, reliably associating with key sexual outcomes (e.g., more active pursuit of shortterm mating, intimate partner violence, and sexual aggression) and sex-related personality traits (e.g., higher extraversion and openness to experience). Whereas some features of personality (e.g., subjective well-being) were universally associated with socially adaptive facets of Narcissism (e.g., self-sufficiency), most indicators of short-term mating (e.g., unrestricted sociosexuality and marital infidelity) were universally associated with the socially maladaptive facets of narcissism (e.g., exploitativeness). Discussion addresses limitations of these cross-culturally universal findings and presents suggestions for future research into revealing the precise psychological features of narcissism that facilitate the strategic pursuit of short-term mating. This chapter identifies and describes the key concepts and techniques for BLOB and CLOB integration into the IoT core. Data system centralization has sped up the solution of problems with large amounts of data storage and processing, particularly if the data is large by its nature. In that sense, everyday stream of photos, audio and video content, large textual data files led to new concepts BLOB and CLOB. Adequate examples of stored procedures, views, C#, JAVA, HTML5 i PHP languages, follow the establishing communication methods. Finally, the chapter will illustrate two practical examples of IoT: the example for pagination on a large database with million BLOB and CLOB objects, and the example for dynamic mechatronic system of a fire truck with feedback.

18F-deoxy-glucose positron emission tomography combined with computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) is routinely used in the detection of malignant disease based on the property of malignant cells to fuel their growth and replication by increased glucose uptake. Malignant lesions are rare in the sellar region, while pituitary adenomas are the most common pathology. These are benign neoplasms with insidious onset and low proliferation activity, and therefore are only exceptionally detected by 18F-FDG PET/CT. Studies that compare the biology of pituitary adenomas and their radiological properties using PET/CT are still lacking.We investigate and discuss tumour biology in light of increased 18F-FDG avidity in a symptom-free, 70-year-old male patient, previously treated for two different malignancies (lung and rectal). Increased tracer accumulation in the sellar region was incidentally detected on a follow-up 18F-FDG PET/CT scan. Additional MRI disclosed pituitary adenoma. Normal hormonal status was found, consistent with the diagnosis of non-functioning pituitary adenoma. Analysis of tumour tissue after pituitary surgery confirmed a silent gonadotroph adenoma with low proliferation index. Low expression of oncogene-induced senescence markers did not support senescence as the explanation for the tumour's low proliferative activity although it was in consonance with the hormonal activity.Pituitary adenomas can manifest as hypermetabolic foci on 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging with increased tracer uptake even in indolent, clinically silent pituitary adenomas with low mitotic activity. Special attention should be paid to evaluation of 18F-FDG avid pituitary adenomas in patients with multiple malignancies, bearing in mind that avidity does not always mirror its biological behaviour.

As we belong to a host of groups, we have a multitude of social identities that are interdependent. Social identity complexity refers to the degree of overlap between cross-cutting group memberships while social identity inclusiveness to the range of people a person identifies with through shared group membership. In this paper, we explored the relationship between the complexity and inclusiveness of social identity, and feelings toward ethnic/religious in-groups, as well as feelings toward out-group members. The research was conducted in two cities in Serbia: Belgrade and Novi Pazar (N = 178; average age 23), allowing for comparisons between young Serbs and Bosniaks, who belonged to the groups with a recent history of conflict. We found that social identity complexity was unrelated, whilst social identity inclusiveness was systematically and positively related to more positive feelings toward religious and ethnic out-groups. This effect was significant across different ethnic groups (Serbs and Bosniaks) and local contexts (Belgrade and Novi Pazar). Both social identity complexity and inclusiveness were unrelated to emotions toward members of the own group. We related these results with the existing data on the social identity structure and intergroup relations, and discussed the importance of inclusive identities for building tolerant societies.

Adolescent development is determined by many factors that intertwine, sometimes complementing each other and sometimes negating or cancelling each other out. One of them is the self-esteem which is conditioned by various factors. At the same time, self-esteem significantly determines the ways an individual develops and the extent to which he develops his abilities. Previous research has confirmed the importance of the relation between self-esteem and parental acceptance. This study aims to investigate the relationship between parental acceptance and adolescent self-esteem. The study was conducted on a sample of 401 students from the University of Mostar. In the study, the following instruments were used: a socio-demographic questionnaire, the Quality of Family Interaction Scale - KOBI and the Self-Esteem Questionnaire – SEI. In order to achieve the set research goal, the following methods were applied: descriptive statistics methods and Chi-square test. The obtained results confirmed the hypothesis that the higher the degree of parental acceptance is, the higher the level of adolescents' self-esteem is.
