An enhanced swift indirect method for the determination of both free and bound 3-monochloropropane-1,2-diol has been established. The advantages include reduced sample preparation time (1 h instead of several hours), rapid triple quadrupole gas chromatography-mass spectrometry detection (12 min rather than 30 min in average) combined with amplified selectivity and sensitivity. The enhanced method has been entirely validated. The limits of quatification and detection were estimated and were found to be less than 2 and 0.5 [micro]g/kg, respectively. The recoveries at different spiked levels ranged from 98 to 106%.
