Abstract

Here a real life optimal control problem under fuzzy time period using variational principle is formulated and Solved. The unit production cost is a function of production rate and also dependent on raw material cost, development cost due to durability and wear-tear cost. The holding cost is assumed to be non-linear, dependent on time. The profit function which consists of revenue, production cost and holding cost is formulated as a Fuzzy-Final Time and Fixed State System optimal control problem with fuzzy time period. Here production rate is unknown and considered as a control variable and stock level is taken as a state variable. It is formulated to optimize the production rate so that total profit is maximum. The non-linear optimization technique-Generalised Reduced Gradient Method (LINGO 11.0) is used. Abstract

The fission process still remains a main factor that determines the stability of the atomic nucleus of heaviest elements. Fission half-lives vary over a wide range, 10−19−1024 s. Present experimental techniques for the synthesis of the superheavy elements that usually measure α-decay chains are sensitive only in a limited range of half-lives, often 10−5−103 s. In the past years, measurement techniques for very short-lived and very long-lived nuclei were significantly improved at the gas-filled recoil separator TASCA at GSI Darmstadt. Recently, several experimental studies of fission-related phenomena have successfully been performed. In this paper, results on 254−256Rf and 266Lr are presented and corresponding factors for retarding the fission process are discussed.

4. Optimum Production for a heaped stock dependent breakable item through variational principle

Abstract

Breakability rate of fragile item depends on the accumulated stress of heaped stock level. So breakablility rate can be considered as dependent parameter of stock variable. The unit production cost is a function of production rate and also dependent on raw material cost, development cost and wear-tear cost. The holding cost is assumed to be non-linear, dependent on time. Here optimal control problem for a fragile item under finite time horizon is considered. The profit function which consists of revenue, production and holding costs is formulated as a Fixed-Final Time and Fixed State System(cf. Naidu (2000)) optimal control problem with finite time horizon. Here production rate is unknown and considered as a control variable and stock level is taken as a state variable. It is formulated to optimize the production rate so that total profit is maximum. As particular cases, models are evaluated with and without breakability. The models are solved by using conventional Variational Principle along with the non-linear optimization technique-Generalised Reduced Gradient Method (LINGO 12.0). 5. Theory of universal differential conductance of magnetic Weyl type -II junctions

Abstract

We study the transport properties of junctions of normal and superconducting Weyl semi-metal with tilted dispersion, in the presence of magnetization induced by magnetic strips. The sub gap tunnelling conductance shows robust signatures in the presence of different orientation and strength of magnetization of the magnetic strips. We obtain the analytical results for the normal-magnetic-superconducting junction in the thin barrier limit and demonstrate that these results have no analogues to their conventional counterparts and junctions with Dirac electrons in two-dimensions. Abstract

We study the Loschmidt echo for quenches in open one-dimensional lattice models with symmetry protected topological phases. For quenches where dynamical quantum phase transitions do occur we find that cusps in the bulk return rate at critical times tc are associated with sudden changes in the boundary contribution. For our main example, the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model, we show that these sudden changes are related to the periodical appearance of two eigenvalues close to zero in the dynamical Loschmidt matrix. We demonstrate, furthermore, that the structure of the Loschmidt spectrum is linked to the periodic creation of long-range entanglement between the edges of the system.

Abstract

The heaviest currently known nuclei, which have up to 118 protons, have been produced in Ca48 induced reactions with actinide targets. Among them, the element tennessine (Ts), which has 117 protons, has been synthesized by fusing Ca48 with the radioactive target Bk249, which has a half-life of 327 d. The experiment was performed at the gas-filled recoil separator TASCA. Two long and two short α decay chains were observed. The long chains were attributed to the decay of Ts294. The possible origin of the short-decay chains is discussed in comparison with the known experimental data. They are found to fit with the decay chain patterns attributed to Ts293. The present experimental results confirm the previous findings at the Dubna Gas-Filled Recoil Separator on the decay chains originating from the nuclei assigned to Ts.

Abstract

The isotopic distribution of nuclei produced in the 50Ti + 249Cf reaction has been studied at the gas-filled recoil separator TASCA at GSI Darmstadt, which separates ions according to differences in magnetic rigidity. The bombardment was performed at an energy around the Bass barrier and with the TASCA magnetic fields set for collecting fusion-evaporation reaction products. Fifty-three isotopes located “north-east” of 208Pb were identified as recoiling products formed in non-fusion channels of the reaction. These recoils were implanted with energies in two distinct ranges; besides one with higher energy, a significant low-energy contribution was identified. The latter observation was not expected to occur according to kinematics of the known types of reactions, namely quasi-elastic, multi-nucleon transfer, deep-inelastic collisions or quasifission. The present observations are discussed within the framework of two-body kinematics passing through the formation of a composite system.

18. Josephson junction detectors for Majorana modes and Dirac fermions

Abstract

We demonstrate that the current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of resistively and capacitively shunted Josephson junctions (RCSJs) hosting localized subgap Majorana states provides a phase sensitive method for their detection. The I-V characteristics of such RCSJs, in contrast to their resistively shunted counterparts, exhibit subharmonic odd Shapiro steps; such steps occur even in the absence of any $2\pi$ periodic terms in the current-phase relation of these junctions. These steps, owing to their subharmonic nature, exhibit qualitatively different properties compared to harmonic odd steps of conventional junctions. In addition, the RCSJs hosting Majorana bound states also display an additional sequence of steps in the devil staircase structure seen in their I-V characteristics; such sequence of steps make their I-V characteristics qualitatively distinct from that of their conventional counterparts. A similar study for RCSJs with graphene superconducting junctions hosting Dirac-like quasiparticles reveals that the Shapiro step width in their I-V curves bears a signature of the transmission resonance phenomenon of their underlying Dirac quasiparticles; consequently, these step widths exhibit a $\pi$ periodic oscillatory behavior with variation of the junction barrier potential. Abstract

Frontiers in Chemistry 10, 976635 (2022). doi:10.3389/fchem.2022.976635, Flerovium (Fl, element 114) is the heaviest element chemically studied so far. Todate, its interaction with gold was investigated in two gas-solid chromatographyexperiments, which reported two different types of interaction, however, eachbased on the level of a few registered atoms only. Whereas noble-gas-likeproperties were suggested from the first experiment, the second one pointed ata volatile-metal-like character. Here, we present further experimental data onadsorption studies of Fl on silicon oxide and gold surfaces, accounting for theinhomogeneous nature of the surface, as it was used in the experiment andanalyzed as part of the reported studies. We confirm that Fl is highly volatile andthe least reactive member of group 14. Abstract

Background: The nature of asymmetric fission of preactinides is not yet understood in detail, despite intense experimental and theoretical studies carried out at present. Purpose: The study of asymmetric and symmetric fission of Hg180,182,183 and Pt178 nuclei as a function of their excitation energy and isospin. Methods: Mass-energy distributions of fission fragments of Hg180, Pt178 (two protons less than Hg180), and Hg182 (two neutrons more than Hg180) formed in the Ar36+Sm144, Nd142, and Ca40+Nd142 reactions were measured at energies near and above the Coulomb barrier. Fission of Hg183 obtained in the reaction of Ca40 with Nd143 was also investigated to see if one extra neutron could lead to dramatic changes in the fission process due to the shape-staggering effect in radii, known in Hg183. The measurements were performed with the double-arm time-of-flight spectrometer CORSET. Results: The observed peculiarities in the fission fragment mass-energy distributions for all studied nuclei may be explained by the presence of a symmetric fission mode and three asymmetric fission modes, manifested by the different total kinetic energies and fragment mass splits. The yield of symmetric mode grows with increasing excitation energy of compound nucleus. Conclusions: The investigated properties of asymmetric fission of Hg180,182,183 and Pt178 nuclei point out the existence of well-deformed proton shell at Z≈36 and a less deformed proton shell at Z ≈ 46.

Abstract

Background: Observation of asymmetric fission of Hg180 has led to intensive theoretical and experimental studies of fission of neutron-deficient nuclei in the lead region. Purpose: The study of asymmetric and symmetric fission modes of Hg180,190 and Pb184,192,202 nuclei. Methods: Mass-energy distributions of fission fragments of Hg180,190 and Pb184 formed in the Ar36+Sm144,154 and Ca40+Sm144 reactions, respectively, at energies near the Coulomb barrier have been measured using the double-arm time-of-flight spectrometer CORSET and compared with previously measured Pb192,202 isotopes produced in the Ca48+Sm144,154 reactions. The mass distributions for Hg180,190 and Pb184,192,202 together with old data for Ir187, Au195, Hg198, Tl201, Bi205,207, Po210, and At213 [J. Nucl. Phys. 53, 1225 (1991)] have been decomposed into symmetric and asymmetric fission modes. The total kinetic-energy distributions for different fission fragment mass regions have been analyzed for Hg180,190 and Pb184. Results: The stabilization role of proton numbers at Z≈36, 38, Z≈45, 46, and Z=28/50 in asymmetric fission of excited preactinide nuclei has been observed. The high (≈145-MeV) and the low (≈128-MeV) energy components have been found in the total kinetic-energy distributions of Hg180,190 fission fragments corresponding to the fragments with proton numbers near Z≈46 and Z≈36, respectively. In the case of fission of Pb184 only the low-energy component (≈135MeV) for the fragments with masses corresponding to the proton numbers Z≈36 and 46 has been found. Conclusions: The studied properties of asymmetric fission of Hg180,190 and Pb184,192,202 nuclei point out the existence of well deformed proton shell at Z≈36 and less deformed proton shell at Z≈46.

Abstract

The heaviest currently known nuclei, which have up to 118 protons, have been produced in Ca48 induced reactions with actinide targets. Among them, the element tennessine (Ts), which has 117 protons, has been synthesized by fusing Ca48 with the radioactive target Bk249, which has a half-life of 327 d. The experiment was performed at the gas-filled recoil separator TASCA. Two long and two short α decay chains were observed. The long chains were attributed to the decay of Ts294. The possible origin of the short-decay chains is discussed in comparison with the known experimental data. They are found to fit with the decay chain patterns attributed to Ts293. The present experimental results confirm the previous findings at the Dubna Gas-Filled Recoil Separator on the decay chains originating from the nuclei assigned to Ts.

Abstract

A search for production of the superheavy elements with atomic numbers 119 and 120 was performed in the 50Ti+249Bk and 50Ti+249Cf fusion-evaporation reactions, respectively, at the gas-filled recoil separator TASCA at GSI Darmstadt, Germany. Over four months of irradiation, the 249Bk target partially decayed into 249Cf, which allowed for a simultaneous search for both elements. Neither was detected at cross-section sensitivity levels of 65 and 200 fb for the 50Ti+249Bk and 50Ti+249Cf reactions, respectively, at a midtarget beam energy of Elab = 281.5 MeV. The nonobservation of elements 119 and 120 is discussed within the concept of fusion-evaporation reactions including various theoretical predictions on the fission-barrier heights of superheavy nuclei in the region of the island of stability.

Abstract

In this research work, a wholesaler-retailer-customer supply chain model for a deteriorating item is considered, where the retailer's warehouse in the market place has a limited capacity. The retailer can rent an additional warehouse (rented warehouse) if needed, with a higher rent compared to the existing warehouse (own warehouse). The customers' demand of the item is linearly influenced by the stock level and in case of shortages the base demand is partially backlogged. Being the leader of the supply chain, the retailer introduces some promotional cost to boost the base demand of the item. To participate in joint marketing decision, the wholesaler shares a compromise part of this promotional cost. Goal of this research work is to maximize the individual profits (when the retailer is the leader and the wholesaler is the follower) as well as the channel profit (when the retailer and the wholesaler jointly make marketing decision) of the system. It is established that if the wholesaler shares a part of the promotional cost, then the channel profit as well as the individual profits increase. The supply chain model is also considered in imprecise environment, where different inventory parameters are fuzzy/rough in nature. In this case, the individual profits as well as the channel profit become fuzzy/rough in nature. As optimization of fuzzy/rough objective is not well defined, following credibility/trust measure of fuzzy/rough event, an approach is followed for comparison of fuzzy/rough objectives and a Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm is implemented to find the marketing decisions. Efficiency of the algorithm in solving the problem is statistically established.
