- Abstract
The aim of this research is to analyze the reading habits of students studying physical education and sports training with respect to certain variables. A total of 324 first-year students (125 females, 199 males) voluntarily participated in the research from physical education and sports training departments of Sinop University, Kafkas University, and Ondokuz Mays University. A questionnaire consisting of two parts was used as the data collection tool in the research. The personal information form was used in the first part and the "Reading Habit Attitude Scale" developed by Gömleksiz (2004) was used in the second part. Shapiro Wilk and Levene tests were employed to determine whether the data exhibited a normal distribution in the analysis. The data exhibiting a normal distribution were analyzed with the help of t-test and One-Way ANOVA. In multiple comparisons, the Tukey HSD test was used to determine the groups causing the difference. According to the results of the research, a significant difference was found in favor of women in the age variable of sub-dimensions of "love, habit, will, effect and benefit"; in the gender variable; in favor of ages 18-20-21-22 in sub-dimension of "necessity"; in favor of primary and secondary school graduates in sub-dimensions of "habit, necessity and will" in the father's educational background variable; in favor of the average value above 1.5 in sub-dimension of "love" and in favor of average grades between 1.0-2.5 in sub-dimension of "benefit" in the academic grade averages variable (p<0.05). No significant difference was found with respect to the variables of the department and mother's education background (p>0.05). It was revealed that among the university students studying physical education and sports training, female students read more than the male students and those whose father was a primary or secondary school graduate were more willing to read and they regarded this habit as a necessity.

- Abstract
The aim of the study was to examine the changes in the acute blood lactate levels of elite taekwondo players when carrying out high-intensity interval training on Spinning® bikes. Twenty elite-level taekwondo athletes participated in the study. The subjects were selected from athletes who had been competitors for at least six years. Their average age, height and weight values were determined to be 18.89 ± 2.07 years, 176.8 ± 8.73 cm and 70.59 ± 12.13 kg respectively. In the present study the subjects carried out high-intensity interval training using Spinning bikes based on the Tabata protocol. The loads were applied as a total of four sets of eight repetitions with the principle of 20 seconds of load followed by 10 seconds of rest with one-minute's rest given between sets. The subjects' lactate levels were measured from their fingers using the Accutrend Lactate portable lactate analyzer with the help of the strips provided. Lactate measurements were made five times: before training (Pre), after Set 1 (1S), after Set 2 (2S), after Set 3 (3S) and once the exercise was over (Post). The heart rates (HR) of the athletes were monitored by their coaches before and during exercise. The data were analyzed using One Way ANOVA in the SPSS 22 package program. A statistically significant difference was found among the baseline lactate levels, the 1S, 2S, 3S and post lactate levels in the study (p<0.05). There was a statistically significant difference when the 1S lactate level was compared with all the time periods except for 2S (p<0.05). The difference between the 3S and Post lactate levels was not statistically significant (p> 0.05). As a result of the study it was observed that Spinning® training carried out using the high-intensity interval training method caused a rapid increase in acute lactic acid accumulation. In the case of performance athletes, we can say that this exercise could be part of the lactate tolerance training used to counter fatigue.

Diğer yandan, futbolda oyunun fiziksel ve fizyolojik gerekliliklerinin çok yönlü olduğu ve performans bileşenlerinin farklılık gösterdiği bilinmektedir, bu nedenle ısınma protokollerinde germe egzersizleri seçimlerinin son derece önemli olduğu ve antrenmanın kapsamına göre çeşitlilik gösterebileceği söylenebilir., The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of two different warm-up protocols on some performance parameters in 11-12 age group football players and analyze the correlation. Active and trained 22 male football players (age: 11.50±.51 years; height: 148.54±7.69 cm; weight: 40.44±7.50 kg and body mass index (BMI): 18.21±2.29 kg/m2) voluntarily participated in this study. Subjects performed two different warm-up protocols including jogging+dynamic stretching and jogging+static stretching exercises on non-consecutive days. Following the dynamic and static warm-up protocols and then three minutes of passive recovery, subjects were tested on the leg power, flamingo balance test, T-test, 30-m sprint and ball kicking speed. Data were checked for normality by using Shapiro-Wilk test. Mann-Whitney U test was used for comparing the effect of warm-up methods on selected performance parameters. Correlation between parameters were analyzed with Spearman Correlation test. There was statistically significant difference (p0.05). According to the results of this study, dynamic warm-up protocol provides performance enhancement, although agility is the only parameter reached statistical significance, in leg power, balance, agility, sprint and ball kicking speed compared to static warm up protocol, and it is thought to have positive effects in football players when performed prior to the training. So, dynamic stretching exercises before training in football players are strongly recommended for performance enhancement. On the other hand, football is characterized by variety of the physical-physiological demands and performance parameters, so it can be said that warm-up protocol preference is very crucial and it may vary by training requirements.

CHOCOLATE milk ,MILK consumption ,SERUM ,BLOOD sampling ,INSULIN - Abstract
The use of nutritional strategies has become more widespread in recent years. This study investigates the effect of chocolate milk (CM) consumption on the recovery rate of elite male adolescent alpine skiers after intense training. Twelve male elite alpine skiers aged 13-16 years were randomly divided into two groups: chocolate milk (CM; n = 6) and placebo (PLA; n = 6). After exercise, the CM group was given 400 ml (200+200) of chocolate milk, and the PLA group took water (placebo) in the same regimen. Venous blood samples were taken before and 12 hours after drinking the fluids to determine the activity of selected enzymes, insulin, testosterone, glucose, and some minerals. It was observed that in the CM group, serum AST (Pre: 110.33±126.62 U/L vs. Post: 83.17±100.42 U/L) and CK (Pre: 2393.12±2542.22 U/L vs. Post: 1556.33±1401.45 U/L) activity, as well as testosterone (Pre: 21.12±3.59 ng/mL vs. Post: 15.19±4.96 ng/mL; p=0.028) and iron (Pre: 163.00±14.76 µg/dL vs. Post: 109.00±23.91 µg/dL; p=0.028), decreased significantly, but potassium (Pre: 4.38±0.16 mmol/L vs. Post: 4.64±0.09 mmol/L) and magnesium (Pre: 1.82±0.09 mg/dL vs. Post: 2.07±0.04 mg/dL) levels increased after supplementation compared to baseline levels (p<0.05). After taking into account the changes that occurred in the PLA group and significant differences in some variables in terms of between-group comparisons, it was found that the decrease in AST and CK activity, along with the presence of positive ionic changes in the serum after CM supplementation indicates a reduction in negative changes after training and improving the process of post-training regeneration in young male athletes. In present study, ‘Personal Information Form’ and ‘Exercise Addiction Inventory’ were used as data collection tool. For the scores obtained from inventory, Independent Samples t test was utilized in paired comparisons and, One-Way ANOVA and Tukey HSD tests were utilized in multiple comparisons. No significant difference was found between sub-dimensions, excepting the score of ‘delay of personal-social needs and conflict’, which was one of the sub-dimensions of the exercise addiction inventory in terms of gender variable (p>0.05). Exercise frequency and license year variables showed no significance excepting the score of ‘excessive focus and emotion development’ sub-dimensions (p>0.05). On the other hand, statistical significance was detected in scores of exercise addiction ‘excessive focus and emotion development’ and ‘exercise addiction inventory general total’ sub-dimensions according to the participants’ exercise duration variable (p0.05). Consequently, it was concluded that participants’ general exercise addiction levels belonged to the addicted group regarding data obtained., Bu çalışmanın amacı; geleceğin antrenörlerinin egzersiz bağımlılık düzeylerinin incelenmesidir.

Spor Bilimleri ,Sport Sciences - Abstract

L-Carnitine,taekwondo,weight loss,body composition - Abstract
In this study, it wasaimed to investigate the effect of L-carnitine supplements on weight loss andbody composition of taekwondo players. Sixteen voluntary male athletes, aged 18-28, were participated in thisstudy. Athletes were divided into two groups as experiment (supplement) (n=8)and placebo (n=8). First of all, the body of the athletes was analyzed usingthe body composition analyzer. After these analyzes were made, for 7 days, theexperimental group used carnitine and the placebo group used wheat bran. After7 days of nutrient supplementation, the analyzes performed at the beginning ofthe study were repeated. The body fat percentage of the placebo group was foundto be significantly lower than the post-training values (p0.05). Whenthe intra-group pre- and post-test body composition values of the L-carnitinegroup were compared, the post-test averages of skeletal muscle weight, totalbody water and metabolic rate increased statistically significantly compared tothe pre-test averages (p0.05). L-carnitine andplacebo groups showed no significant difference in body composition accordingto Independent Sample T test results (p>0.05). It was seen that pre-trainingL-carnitine consumption helped the athletes to maintain optimal body weight andincreased fat oxidation during exercise by activating fat metabolism andpositively affected fat mass reduction.

Objective: This study aimed to examine the effect of CHO-E consumption after high-intensity exercise on insulin, cortisol hormones and blood glucose responses, which is important for performance and recovery in athletes. Methods: Sixteen volunteers, male athletes, participated into this study. Athletes were divided into two groups as experiment (CHO-E) and placebo (PLA). Blood was taken from the athletes three times as basal, post-exercise (PE) and 2 h after ingestion of supplement (PS). Results: When inter-group comparisons, insulin was significantly higher in the CHO-E group than the PLA group at the PS phase (p <.05). Cortisol significantly decreased in the CHO-E group at the PS compared to the PE (p <.05). Conclusions: Carbohydrate–electrolyte consumption after high-intensity exercise, accelerates the recovery process by providing optimal recovery, and enable the metabolism to remain in the anabolic state by preventing it from entering in the catabolic process as well as provides hormonal balance in metabolism.
