Abstract: By analyzing $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data with an integrated luminosity of 7.9~fb$^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV, the branching fraction of $D^+\to\tau^+\nu_{\tau}$ is determined as $\mathcal{B}=(9.9\pm 1.1_\mathrm{stat}\pm 0.5_\mathrm{syst})\times10^{-4}$. Taking the most precise result $\mathcal{B}(D^+\to\mu^+\nu_{\mu})=(3.981\pm 0.079_\mathrm{stat}\pm0.040_\mathrm{syst})\times10^{-4}$, we determine $R_{\tau/\mu} = \Gamma(D^+\to\tau^+\nu_{\tau})/\Gamma(D^+\to\mu^+\nu_{\mu})= 2.49\pm0.31$, achieving a factor of two improvement in precision compared to the previous BESIII result. This measurement is in agreement with the standard model prediction of lepton flavor universality within one standard deviation.

Abstract: Using $(27.12\pm0.14) \times 10^{8}$ $\psi(2S)$ events collected by the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII, we search for the decay $\eta_c(2S)\to p\bar{p}$ via the process $\psi(2S)\to \gamma\eta_c(2S)$, and only find a signal with a significance of $1.7\,\sigma$. The upper limit of the product branching fraction at the 90% confidence level is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(\psi(2S)\to \gamma\eta_c(2S))\times \mathcal{B}(\eta_c(2S)\to p\bar{p})<2.4\times 10^{-7}$. The branching fractions of $\chi_{cJ}\to p\bar{p}~(J=0,1,2)$ are also measured to be $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c0}\to p\bar{p})=(2.51\pm0.02\pm0.08)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c1}\to p\bar{p})=(8.16\pm0.09\pm0.25)\times 10^{-4}$, and $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c2}\to p\bar{p})=(8.33\pm0.09\pm0.22)\times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.

Abstract: By analyzing $(27.12\pm0.14)\times10^8$ $\psi(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the decays of $\chi_{cJ} \to p \bar{p} K^0_S K^- \pi^+ +c.c.(J=0, 1, 2)$ are observed for the first time with statistical significances greater than $10\sigma$. The branching fractions of these decays are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c0}\to p \bar p K^{0}_{S} K^- \pi^+ + c.c.)=(2.61\pm0.27\pm0.32)\times10^{-5},$ $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c1}\to p \bar p K^{0}_{S} K^- \pi^+ + c.c.)=(4.16\pm0.24\pm0.46)\times10^{-5},$ and $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c2}\to p \bar p K^{0}_{S} K^- \pi^+ + c.c.)=(5.63\pm0.28\pm0.46)\times10^{-5}$, respectively. The processes $\chi_{c1,2} \to \bar{p} \Lambda(1520) K^0_S \pi^{+} + c.c.$ are also observed, with statistical significances of 5.7$\sigma$ and 7.0$\sigma$, respectively. Evidence for $\chi_{c0} \to\bar{p} \Lambda(1520) K^0_S \pi^{+} + c.c.$ is found with statistical significances of 3.3$\sigma$ each. The corresponding branching fractions are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c0}\to \bar{p} \Lambda(1520) K^0_S \pi^{+} + c.c.) =(1.61^{+0.68}_{-0.64}\pm0.23)\times10^{-5}$, $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c1}\to \bar{p} \Lambda(1520) K^0_S \pi^{+} + c.c.)=(4.06^{+0.80}_{-0.76}\pm0.52)\times10^{-5}$, and $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c2}\to \bar{p} \Lambda(1520) K^0_S \pi^{+} + c.c.)=(4.09^{+0.87}_{-0.84}\pm0.42)\times10^{-5}$. Abstract: Using $(2712.4 \pm 14.3) \times 10^6~\psi$(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we search for the hadronic transition $h_c \to \pi^+\pi^-J/\psi$ via $\psi(3686)\to \pi^0 h_c$. No significant signal is observed. We set the most stringent upper limits to date on the branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(\psi(3686)\to \pi^0 h_c)\times\mathcal{B}(h_c\to\pi^+\pi^-J/\psi)$ and $\mathcal{B}(h_c \to \pi^+\pi^-J/\psi)$ at the 90$\%$ confidence level, which are determined to be $6.7\times 10^{-7}$ and $9.4 \times10^{-4}$, respectively.

No obvious signal is observed and the upper limit on the branching fraction is determined to be ${\cal B}(J/\psi \to \gamma D^{0}+c.c.)< 9.1 \times 10^{-8}$ at 90\% confidence level.

Abstract: As COVID-19 continues to incur enormous personal and societal costs, widespread vaccination against the virus remains the most effective strategy to end the pandemic. However, vaccine hesitancy is rampant and has been steadily rising for decades. Seeking to remedy this, personality psychologists have begun to explore psychological drivers of vaccine hesitancy, including the Big Five. Openness to Experience presents itself as a vexing case as previous attempts to study its association with vaccine hesitancy have yielded mixed findings. In this prereg-istered study, we hypothesise that the impact of Openness to Experience on Vaccine Hesitancy depends on its interplay with other factors, namely conspiracy beliefs. To test this, we apply logistic regressions, simple slopes analyses, and propensity score matching to a nationally representative sample of 2500 Italian citizens, collected in May 2021. Contrary to our original hypothesis (i.e., Openness will have a positive association with Vaccine Hesitancy at high - and a negative at low - levels of Conspiracy Beliefs) we find that high Openness diminishes the impact of Belief in Conspiracy Theories on Vaccine Hesitancy. Consistent with previous research, we propose that Openness serves as a buffer against extreme positions by allowing individuals to be exposed to a greater diversity of information.

Abstract: As COVID-19 continues to incur enormous personal and societal costs, widespread vaccination against the virus remains the most effective strategy to end the pandemic. However, vaccine hesitancy is rampant and has been steadily rising for decades. Abstract: Toothed metal-plate connector (MPC) is a cost-effective connection method, easy to install with high assembly efficiency for manufacturing engineered timber trusses. In this study, In order to combine the advantages of the MPC with glued laminated bamboo (glubam) structures, a total of 136 MPC glubam joints, divided into 22 groups according to testing parameters, were tested and analyzed. Design strength values of the anchorage strength of metal plate tooth embedded in glubam, the tensile and shear strengths of toothed metal plate in glubam joints were provided in reference of the existing timber code specifications. The results show that the linear interpolation formula provided by the existing design code largely overestimates the anchorage strength of metal plate tooth embedded in glubam for the nonorthogonal loading directions. An angular equation expressed as the loading direction is therefore proposed. The design shear strength of aligning the major axis (tooth slot direction) of the metal plate parallel to the plate longitudinal direction is higher than that of aligning plate major axis perpendicular to the plate longitudinal direction, especially for the combined shear and tension loading. The design tensile and shear strengths of the MPC glubam joints are obviously larger than those of the Class I MPC timber joints given in the Chinese Standard, indicating that the MPC glubam is hopeful to be alternative to replace the MPC timber structures such as roof truss systems. Abstract: In this paper, the (In0.5Nb0.5)xTi1−xO2 (with x = 0, 0.005, 0.01, 0.02, 0.05, and 0.1) ceramics were prepared by solid-state reaction. To investigate the humidity sensitive properties, capacitance was measured as a function of relative humidity (RH). Our results reveal that the capacitance increases with the increase in RH and doping level. The best humidity sensitivity of 229.22 pF/%RH was achieved in the sample with x = 10. The humidity sensing mechanism was ascribed to the defects of oxygen vacancies and Nb Ti · ions. Besides, the humidity shows remarkable influence on the dielectric properties of the co-doped samples via the surface-layer effect, which leads to a Maxwell–Wagner relaxation near room temperature. This work underscores that the (In + Nb) co-doped samples are sensitive to the environment moisture. The processing conditions should be optimized for superior dielectric behavior in (In + Nb) co-doped TiO2 ceramics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: OBJECTIVE: Multilocus sequence typing (MLST) was applied to investigate the genetic diversity of Candida albicans in the intestinal tract of cirrhosis patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We used CHROM agar Candida medium to obtain 105 Candida sp. isolates from fecal samples (276 subjects), including 63 isolates from the cirrhosis group (141 subjects) and 42 isolates from the healthy control group (135 subjects). RESULTS: Among the 105 Candida strains isolated, 60 strains were identified as Candida albicans. Patients with cirrhosis had significantly higher rates of colonization by Candida sp. (44.68% vs. 31.11%, p < 0.05) and C. albicans (27.66% vs. 15.56%, p < 0.05) relative to healthy controls. In the cirrhosis group, the rate of colonization further increased with disease progression and antibiotic treatment (p < 0.01). Sixty C. albicans isolates were analyzed by MLST. Fifty diploid sequence types (DST) were observed, and 26 new DSTs and 3 novel alleles were found. The majority of isolates were distributed among three clades, clade 8 (31.67%), clade 14 (15.00%) and clade 18 (21.67%). Among 39 strains from the cirrhosis group, 16 strains (41.02%) belonged to clade 8, while only 3 strains (14.29%) from healthy group belonged to clade 8 (p < 0.05). In addition, concatenated sequences of the 7 housekeeping gene fragments were analyzed for all the different DSTs in clade 8 to evaluate the loss of heterozygosity (LOH), which indicates C. albicans microvariation in the gut of cirrhosis patients. CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that cirrhosis disease progression and antibiotic treatment is associated with increased colonization by Candida sp. and C. albicans. We are the first to provide MLST-based genotype profiles for C. albicans Guizhou China, and to identify clade 8 as the potential main clade of C. albicans colonization in the gut of cirrhosis patients.
