BACKGROUND: Although several COVID-19 vaccines are available, the current challenge is achieving high vaccine uptake. We aimed to explore university students' intention to get vaccinated and select the most relevant determinants/beliefs to facilitate informed decision making around COVID-19 vaccine uptake.METHODS: A cross-sectional online survey with students ( N = 434) from Maastricht University was conducted in March 2021. The most relevant determinants/beliefs of students' COVID-19 vaccine intention (i.e., determinants linked to vaccination intention, and with enough potential for change) were visualized using CIBER plots. RESULTS: Students' intention to get the COVID-19 vaccine was high (80%). Concerns about safety and side effects of the vaccine and trust in government, quality control, and the pharmaceutical industry were identified as the most relevant determinants of vaccine intention. Other determinants were risk perception, attitude, perceived norm, and self-efficacy beliefs.CONCLUSION: Our study identified several determinants of COVID-19 vaccine intention (e.g., safety, trust, risk perception, etc.) and helped to select the most relevant determinants/beliefs to target in an intervention to maximize COVID-19 vaccination uptake. Concerns and trust related to the COVID-19 vaccine are the most important targets for future interventions. Other determinants that were already positive (i.e., risk perception, attitudes, perceived norms, and self-efficacy) could be further confirmed.

Om aan te sluiten bij de wensen en behoeftes die leven in de zogenoemde triade van cliënt, diens naasten en de zorgverlener hebben de auteurs op basis van onderzoek een instrument ontwikkeld met als doel om het triadisch samenwerken in de langdurige ggz te bevorderen. Het gaat om een gespreksondersteuner, die de triade helpt om de dialoog en de samenwerking te verbeteren. In deze bijdrage beschrijven zij allereerst welke ervaringen er zijn met het samenwerken in de triade en welke behoeften hieruit voortkomen. Vervolgens introduceren zij de gespreksondersteuner en blikken vooruit op de pilot- en implementatiefase van deze tool. Achtergrond Hoewel de meeste mensen met een ernstige psychische aandoening ambulante zorg krijgen (ca. 86%1), zijn veel van hen langdurig afhankelijk van 24-uurszorg (Van Hoof et al., 2012; Kroon et al., 2019). Er wonen ongeveer 21.000 mensen als gevolg van complexe problematiek langdurig in een klinische 24-uurszorgvoorziening (langdurige opnameafdeling) of in een voorziening voor beschermd of begeleid wonen. In het verleden werd er vaak vanuit gegaan dat herstel niet meer mogelijk was, te meer omdat herstel werd gezien als remissie van symptomen of terugkeer naar een vroeger niveau van functioneren (Leonhardt et al., 2017). Mede hierdoor verblijft een groot deel van de cliënten in de langdurige ggz al jaren in een institutionele setting. Zij leiden veelal een geïsoleerd leven met weinig tot geen contacten met naasten. Na een lange geschiedenis van crises, opnames en teleurstellingen ervaren deze cliënten en hun naasten deze setting vaak als een veilige omgeving.

The process of developing a behavior change intervention can cover a long time period. However, in times of need, this development process has to be more efficient and without losing the scientific rigor. In this paper, we describe the just-in-time, planned development of an online intervention in the field of higher education, promoting COVID-19-vaccination among university students, just before they were eligible for being vaccinated. We demonstrate how intervention development can happen fast but with sufficient empirical and theoretical support. In the developmental process, Intervention Mapping helped with decision-making in every step. We learned that the whole process is primarily depending on the trust of those in charge in the quality of the program developers. Moreover, it is about applying theory, not about theory-testing. As there was no COVID-19-related evidence available, evidence from related fields helped as did theoretical knowledge about change processes, next to having easy access to the target population and important stakeholders for informed qualitative and quantitative research. This project was executed under unavoidable time pressure. Intervention Mapping helped us with systematically developing an intervention, just in time to positively affect vaccine acceptance among university students.

Background. The development of school-based programs for preventing adolescent sexual harassment often lacks an evidence-based approach and use of proper theories. Appropriate stakeholders are often not involved in the development process. To help improve this process, we used the Intervention Mapping framework to retrospectively evaluate the development of two school-based programs, Benzies & Batchies and Boys, each of which was intended to prevent sexual harassment among adolescent students of a lower educational level in the Netherlands. The two interventions were among the first school-based programs targeting sexual harassment, and were implemented in Dutch secondary schools. Methods. As well as doing desk research into the context and content of the interventions, we used semi-structured focused interviews with the initial developers to gather their opinions on and experiences with the development process, whereby the topics were based on the six steps of the IM framework. To better suit the needs of the respondents, we had adapted the language of our topics and had used open-ended questions The data we had gathered from the desk research and face-to-face consultations were checked against a planning tool that was based on 19 tasks within the six steps of IM. Results. Although both programs had been developed in practice and lacked a thorough theoretical foundation, the methods and materials used represented aspects of behavior-change theories. The developers of Benzies & Batchies completed slightly more planning criteria within the six steps of the planning process, and used more change methods than the developers of Boys did. Conclusions. We recommend that parents should also be involved in the development of sex and relationship education programs, and should be allowed to participate in the program itself. To meet the needs of intervention developers, greater insight is needed into the importance of the individual steps in the Intervention Mapping framework. In our view, the development of practice-based interventions will improve if future intervention developers combine evidence-based theories with their practice-based experience. This will increase the success and effectiveness of their interventions.

In the Rub' al-Khali Basin, the Late Ordovician glacial sediments were deposited in a vast water body where laterally shifting depositional environments resulted in lateral facies changes, from well-sorted glacio-fluvial reservoir sandstone to diamictite deposits. The predominantly fluvial channel deposits, consisting of medium to very fine grained sheet sands and interfluve muddy siltstones, were widely distributed, the thicknesses of which ranged from tens to several hundreds of feet. In core, glacial outwash channels, braided plain sands, and lacustrine shale layers with drop-stones from melting ice were observed. The net sand-to-gross ratio is generally high due to the sedimentation dynamics, whereby moving icepressured meltwater jets became sorting agents in the process of glacial sedimentation. In the central Rub' al-Khali, core studies from drilled wells and associated log responses show variable reservoir quality. The overall reservoir quality is controlled by a number of primary and secondary factors. Primary controls are related to sedimentation and the depositional environment, which are manifested in these type of facies, grain size and sorting. Well-sorted, coarse sandstone is associated with high energy currents, and is mainly present in the fluvial system. Non-reservoir facies such as lacustrine shale and diamictite deposits are associated with low energy lacustrine or deep water deposits. The characteristic high net-to-gross ratio observed in the Rub' al-Khali Basin is primarily due to grain sorting. Thin sections from core indicate that mechanical compaction and silica cementation had, in areas, effected reservoir quality. Post-deposition diagenesis, particularly clay coatings, preserved intergranular porosity by preventing continued silica growth on sand grains. Mineral dissolution is not prevalent, and likely did not have significant effect on porosity. Evidence of pressure solution, such as micro-stylolites and sutured contacts between grains are present, indicating sandstone grains were subjected to significant mechanical compaction. Compaction is related to the depth of burial, and its impact on reservoir quality varies throughout the Rub' al-Khali Basin. Silica cementation appears to be sourced from stress inducing stylolites, where the silica cement is formed around the grains.

INTRODUCTION: Personality disorders (PDs) have been associated with a poor prognosis of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). The aim of the current study was to examine cognitive vulnerability (i.e., dysfunctional beliefs, extremity of beliefs, cognitive reactivity, and rumination) that might contribute to this poor prognosis of patients with PD comorbidity.METHODS: 309 outpatients with remitted recurrent MDD (SCID-I; HAM-D17≤10) were included within two comparable RCTs and were assessed at baseline with the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire-4(+) (PDQ-4(+)), the Dysfunctional Attitude Scale Version-A (DAS-A), the Leiden Index of Depression Sensitivity (LEIDS), the Ruminative Response Scale (RRS), and the Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology-Self Report (IDS-SR).RESULTS: We found an indication that the PD prevalence was 49.5% in this remitted recurrently depressed sample. Having a PD (and higher levels of personality pathology) was associated with dysfunctional beliefs, cognitive reactivity, and rumination. Extreme 'black and white thinking' on the DAS was not associated with personality pathology. Brooding was only associated with a Cluster C classification (t(308)=4.03, pLIMITATIONS: PDs were assessed by questionnaire and the analyses were cross-sectional in nature.CONCLUSION: Being the first study to examine cognitive reactivity and rumination in patients with PD and remitted MDD, we demonstrated that even after controlling for depressive symptomatology, dysfunctional beliefs, cognitive reactivity, and rumination were associated with personality pathology. Rumination might be a pathway to relapse for patients with avoidant PD. Replication of our findings concerning cognitive vulnerability and specific PDs is necessary.

BACKGROUND: Major depression is probably best seen as a chronically recurrent disorder, with patients experiencing another depressive episode after remission. Therefore, attention to reduce the risk of relapse or recurrence after remission is warranted. The aim of this review is to meta-analytically examine the effectiveness of psychological interventions to reduce relapse or recurrence rates of depressive disorder.METHODS: We systematically reviewed the pertinent trial literature until May 2014. The random-effects model was used to compute the pooled relative risk of relapse or recurrence (RR). A distinction was made between two comparator conditions: (1) treatment-as-usual and (2) the use of antidepressants. Other sources of heterogeneity in the data were explored using meta-regression.RESULTS: Twenty-five randomised trials met inclusion criteria. Preventive psychological interventions were significantly better than treatment-as-usual in reducing the risk of relapse or recurrence (RR=0.64, 95% CI=0.53-0.76, z=4.89, pLIMITATIONS: Differences between the primary studies in methodological design, composition of the patient groups and type of intervention may have caused heterogeneity in the data, but could not be evaluated in a meta-regression owing to poor reporting.CONCLUSIONS: We conclude that there is supporting evidence that preventive psychological interventions reduce the risk of relapse or recurrence in major depression.

Background: Internet-based cognitive therapy with monitoring via text messages (mobile CT), in addition to treatment as usual (TAU), might offer a cost-effective way to treat recurrent depression. Method: Remitted patients with at least 2 previous episodes of depression were randomized to mobile CT in addition to TAU (n = 126) or TAU only (n = 113). A linear mixed model was used to examine the effect of the treatment condition on a 3-month course of depressive symptoms after remission. Both an intention-to-treat analysis (n = 239) and a completer analysis (n = 193) were used. Depressive symptoms were assessed using the Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology (IDS-SR30) at baseline and 1.5 and 3 months after randomization. Results: Residual depressive symptoms showed a small but statistically significant decrease in the intention-to-treat group over 3 months in the mobile CT group relative to the TAU group (difference: -1.60 points on the IDS-SR30 per month, 95% CI = -2.64 to -0.56, p = 0.003). The effect of the treatment condition on the depressive symptomatology at the 3-month follow-up was small to moderate (Cohen's d = 0.44). All analyses among completers (≥5 modules) showed more pronounced treatment effects. Adjustment for unequally distributed variables did not markedly affect the results. Conclusions: Residual depressive symptoms after remission showed a more favorable course over 3 months in the mobile CT group compared to the TAU group. These results are a first indication that mobile CT in addition to TAU is effective in treating recurrently depressed patients in remission. However, demonstration of its long-term effectiveness and replication remains necessary.

Mood is a key element of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), and is perceived as a highly dynamic construct. The aim of the current study was to examine whether a single-item mood scale can be used for mood monitoring. One hundred thirty remitted out-patients were assessed using the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV Axis-I Disorders (SCID-I), Visual Analogue Mood Scale (VAMS), 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAM-D17), and Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology-Self Report (IDS-SR). Of all patients, 13.8% relapsed during follow-up assessments. Area under the curves (AUCs) for the VAMS, HAM-D17 and IDS-SR were 0.94, 0.91, and, 0.86, respectively. The VAMS had the highest positive predictive value (PPV) without any false negatives at score 55 (PPV=0.53; NPV=1.0) and was the best predictor of current relapse status (variance explained for VAMS: 60%; for HAM-D17: 49%; for IDS-SR: 34%). Only the HAM-D17 added significant variance to the model (7%). Assessing sad mood with a single-item mood scale seems to be a straightforward and patient-friendly avenue for life-long mood monitoring. Using a diagnostic interview (e.g., the SCID) in case of a positive screen is warranted. Repeated assessment of the VAMS using Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) might reduce false positives.
