1. Closed‐form expressions for spatial correlation parameters for performance analysis of fluid antenna systems

Abstract: Abstract The emerging fluid antenna technology enables a high‐density position‐switchable antenna in a small space to obtain enormous performance gains for wireless communications. To understand the theoretical performance of fluid antenna systems, it is important to account for the strong spatial correlation over the different positions (referred to as ‘ports'). Previous works used a classical, generalised correlation model to characterise the channel correlation among the ports but were limited by the lack of degree of freedom of the model to imitate the correlation structures in an actual antenna. In this letter, it is proposed to use a common correlation parameter and to choose it by setting the correlation coefficient of any two ports to be the same as the average correlation coefficient of an actual fluid antenna taking up a linear space. A closed‐form expression for the spatial correlation parameter is first derived assuming that the number of ports is large, and it is illustrated that the correlation parameter depends only on the size of the fluid antenna but not the port density. Simpler expressions are then obtained for small and large sizes of fluid antenna. The resulting model is finally used to study the performance of fluid antenna systems. Simulation results based on the proposed model are provided to confirm the promising performance of fluid antenna in single and multiuser environments.

2. Spin-Orbital-Lattice Coupling and the Phonon Zeeman Effect in the Dirac Honeycomb Magnet CoTiO$_3$

Abstract: The entanglement of electronic spin and orbital degrees of freedom is often the precursor to emergent behaviors in condensed matter systems. With considerable spin-orbit coupling strength, the cobalt atom on a honeycomb lattice offers a platform that can make accessible the study of novel magnetic ground states. Using temperature-dependent Raman spectroscopy and high-magnetic field Raman and infrared (IR) spectroscopy, we studied the lattice and spin-orbital excitations in CoTiO$_3$, an antiferromagnetic material that exhibits topologically protected magnon Dirac crossings in the Brillouin zone. Under the application of an external magnetic field up to 22 T along the crystal's $c$-axis, we observed the splitting of both the spin-orbital excitations and a phonon nearby in energy. Using density functional theory (DFT), we identify a number of new modes that below the antiferromagnetic (AFM) transition become Raman-active due to the zone-folding of the Brillouin zone caused by the doubling of the magnetic unit cell. We use a model that includes both the spin and orbital degrees of freedom of the Co$^{2+}$ ions to explain the spin-orbital excitation energies and their behavior in an applied field. Our experimental observations along with several deviations from the model behavior point to significant coupling between the spin-orbital and the lattice excitations.

3. The hidden magnetic structures of a solar intermediate filament revealed by the injected flare material

Abstract: Solar filaments are spectacular objects in the solar atmosphere, consisting of accumulations of cool, dense, and partially ionized plasma suspended in the hot solar corona against gravity. The magnetic structures that support the filament material remain elusive, partly due to the lack of high resolution magnetic field measurements in the chromosphere and corona. In this study, we reconstruct the magnetic structures of a solar intermediate filament using EUV observations and two different methods, to follow the injection of hot material from a B-class solar flare. Our analysis reveals the fine-scale magnetic structures of the filament, including a compact set of mutually wrapped magnetic fields encasing the cool filament material, two groups of helical magnetic structures intertwining with the main filament, and a series of arched magnetic loops positioned along the filament. Additionally, we also find that the northern footpoints of the helical structures are rooted in the same location, while their southern footpoints are rooted in different areas. Abstract: Semiconductor quantum dots are an attractive platform for the realisation of quantum processors. To achieve long-range coupling between them, quantum dots have been integrated into microwave cavities. However, it has been shown that their coherence is then reduced compared to their cavity-free implementations. Here, we manipulate the quantum states of a suspended carbon nanotube double quantum dot with ferromagnetic contacts embedded in a microwave cavity. By performing quantum manipulations via the cavity photons, we demonstrate coherence times of the order of $1.3\mu s$, two orders of magnitude larger than those measured so far in any carbon quantum circuit and one order of magnitude larger than silicon-based quantum dots in comparable environment. Abstract: In one-dimensional quantum materials, conducting electrons and the underlying lattices can undergo a spontaneous translational symmetry breaking, known as Peierls transition. For nearly a century, the Peierls transition has been understood within the paradigm of electron-electron interactions mediated by longitudinal acoustic phonons. This classical picture has recently been revised in topological semimetals, where transverse acoustic phonons can couple with conducting p-orbital electrons and give rise to an unconventional Fermi surface instability, dubbed the transverse Peierls transition (TPT). Most interestingly, the TPT induced lattice distortions can further break rotation or mirror/inversion symmetries, leading to nematic or chiral charge density waves (CDWs). Quantum materials that host the TPT, however, have not been experimentally established. Here, we report the experimental discovery of an incommensurate TPT in the tetragonal Dirac semimetal EuAl$_4$. Using inelastic x-ray scattering with meV resolution, we observe the complete softening of a transverse acoustic phonon at the CDW wavevector upon cooling, whereas the longitudinal acoustic phonon is nearly unchanged. Combining with first principles calculations, we show that the incommensurate CDW wavevector matches the calculated charge susceptibility peak and connects the nested Dirac bands with Al 3$p_{x}$ and 3$p_{y}$ orbitals. Supplemented by second harmonic generation measurements, we show that the CDW induced lattice distortions break all vertical and diagonal mirrors whereas the four-fold rotational symmetry is retained below the CDW transition. Our observations strongly suggest a chiral CDW in EuAl$_4$ and highlight the TPT as a new avenue for chiral quantum states., Comment: Supplementary materials are available upon request

Abstract: With the rise of data volume and computing power, seismological research requires more advanced skills in data processing, numerical methods, and parallel computing. We present the experience of conducting training workshops over various forms of delivery to support the adoption of large-scale High-Performance Computing and Cloud computing to advance seismological research. The seismological foci were on earthquake source parameter estimation in catalogs, forward and adjoint wavefield simulations in 2 and 3 dimensions at local, regional, and global scales, earthquake dynamics, ambient noise seismology, and machine learning. This contribution describes the series of workshops, the learning outcomes of the participants, and lessons learned by the instructors. Our curriculum was grounded on open and reproducible science, large-scale scientific computing and data mining, and computing infrastructure (access and usage) for HPC and the cloud. We also describe the types of teaching materials that have proven beneficial to the instruction and the sustainability of the program. We propose guidelines to deliver future workshops on these topics.

7. Macroscopic traversable wormholes: minimum requirements

Abstract: While wormholes are just as good a prediction of Einstein's theory as black holes, they are subject to severe restrictions from quantum field theory. To allow for the possibility of interstellar travel, a macroscopic wormhole would need to maintain sufficiently low radial tidal forces. It is proposed in this paper that the assumption of zero tidal forces, i.e., the limiting case, is sufficient for overcoming the restrictions from quantum field theory. The feasibility of this approach is subsequently discussed by (a) introducing the additional conditions needed to ensure that the radial tidal forces can indeed be sufficiently low and (b) by viewing traversable wormholes as emergent phenomena, thereby increasing the likelihood of their existence., Comment: 14 pages, no figures

Abstract: We report the first measurement of the azimuthal anisotropy of J$/\psi$ at forward rapidity ($1.2<|\eta|<2.2$) in Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The data were collected by the PHENIX experiment in 2014 and 2016 with integrated luminosity of 14.5~nb$^{-1}$. The second Fourier coefficient ($v_2$) of the azimuthal distribution of $J/\psi$ is determined as a function of the transverse momentum ($p_T$) using the event-plane method. The measurements were performed for several selections of collision centrality: 0\%--50\%, 10\%--60\%, and 10\%-40\%. We find that in all cases the values of $v_2(p_T)$, which quantify the elliptic flow of J$/\psi$, are consistent with zero. The results are consistent with measurements at midrapidity, indicating no significant elliptic flow of the J$/\psi$ within the quark-gluon-plasma medium at collision energies of $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV., Comment: 369 authors from 72 institutions, 12 pages, 7 figures, 5 tables. v1 is version submitted to Physical Review C. Abstract: We present the first forward-rapidity measurements of elliptic anisotropy of open-heavy-flavor muons at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The measurements are based on data samples of Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV collected by the PHENIX experiment in 2014 and 2016 with integrated luminosity of 14.5~nb$^{-1}$. Abstract: The $J/\psi$ and $\psi(2S)$ charmonium states, composed of $c\bar{c}$ quark pairs and known since the 1970s, are widely believed to serve as ideal probes to test quantum chromodynamics in high-energy hadronic interactions. However, there is not yet a complete understanding of the charmonium-production mechanism. Recent measurements of $J/\psi$ production as a function of event charged-particle multiplicity at the collision energies of both the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) show enhanced $J/\psi$ production yields with increasing multiplicity. One potential explanation for this type of dependence is multiparton interactions (MPI). We carry out the first measurements of self-normalized $J/\psi$ yields and the $\psi(2S)$ to $J/\psi$ ratio at both forward and backward rapidities as a function of self-normalized charged-particle multiplicity in $p$$+$$p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV. In addition, detailed {\sc pythia} studies tuned to RHIC energies were performed to investigate the MPI impacts. We find that the PHENIX data at RHIC are consistent with recent LHC measurements and can only be described by {\sc pythia} calculations that include MPI effects. The forward and backward $\psi(2S)$ to $J/\psi$ ratio, which serves as a unique and powerful approach to study final-state effects on charmonium production, is found to be less dependent on the charged-particle multiplicity., Comment: 301 authors from 69 institutions, 8 pages, 3 figures. v1 is version submitted to Physical Review D Letters. 11. Beyond the Carnot Limit in the Internal Cycles of a Quantum Heat Engine under Finite Heat Reservoirs

Abstract: We investigate, in an analytical fashion, quantum Carnot cycles of a microscopic heat engine coupled to two nite heat reservoirs, whose internal cycles could own higher e ciency than the standard Carnot limit without consuming extra quantum resources, e.g., coherence or squeezing properties. The engine runs time-dependently, involving both the internal and external cycles to collaboratively accomplish a complete Carnot cycle, and the e ciency of the engine depends on the reservoirs heat capacities and the working substance. Our analytical results of the maximum efficiency and the maximum power output clarify the mechanism behind the high performance of the microscopic engines, displaying the key roles played by the nite-sized heat reservoirs. Our proposal is generally valid for any microscopic thermodynamic system and fully feasible under current laboratory conditions.

12. Developing a Context- and Subject-Specific Professional Digital Competence Framework for Beginning English Language Teachers in Hong Kong

Abstract: This paper proposes and describes a context- and subject-specific professional digital competence (PDC) framework for beginning English language teachers in Hong Kong. Taking a localised approach, the framework was developed through a four-stage data collection process, (1) Literature review of empirical studies conducted in Hong Kong of English language teachers' technology use, (2) Review of local government curriculum documents; (3) An online survey of English language teachers' technology use (n = 83); (4) follow-up individual interviews (n = 22). The study revealed that the local subject-specific PDC of teachers includes five aspects; Technological proficiency; Pedagogical compatibility; Preparing students for the digital world; Risk, well-being and ethical awareness and Professional work. Each aspect includes ability statements. The framework can be used to evaluate existing teacher education programmes, support the development of pre-service English-language teachers and facilitate self-, peer- and teacher assessment. The elements of PDC can be converted into programme- and course-level learning outcomes or incorporated into assessment rubrics. In addition, the methods used to develop the framework can be used by scholars in other contexts and subject areas to develop localised subject-specific PDC frameworks.

Abstract: The limit of energy saving in the control of small systems has recently attracted much interest due to the concept refinement of the Maxwell demon. Inspired by a newly proposed set of fluctuation theorems, we report the first experimental verification of these equalities and inequalities in a ultracold 40Ca ion system, confirming the intrinsic nonequilibrium in the system due to involvement of the demon. Based on elaborately designed demon-involved control protocols, such as the Szilard engine protocol, we provide experimentally quantitative evidence of the dissipative information, and observe tighter bounds of both the extracted work and the demon's efficacy than the limits predicted by the Sagawa-Ueda theorem. Our results substantiate a close connection between the physical nature of information and nonequilibrium processes at the microscale, which help further understanding the thermodynamic characteristics of information and the optimal design of nanoscale and smaller systems.

15. Thin-shell wormholes admitting conformal motions in spacetimes of embedding class one

Abstract: This paper discusses the feasibility of thin-shell wormholes in spacetimes of embedding class one admitting a one-parameter group of conformal motions. It is shown that the surface energy density $\sigma$ is positive, while the surface pressure $\mathcal{P}$ is negative, resulting in $\sigma +\mathcal{P}<0$, thereby signaling a violation of the null energy condition, a necessary condition for holding a wormhole open. For a Morris-Thorne wormhole, matter that violates the null energy condition is referred to as "exotic." For the thin-shell wormholes in this paper, however, the violation has a physical explanation since it is a direct consequence of the embedding theory in conjunction with the assumption of conformal symmetry. Abstract: The International Muon Collider Collaboration (IMCC) [1] was established in 2020 following the recommendations of the European Strategy for Particle Physics (ESPP) and the implementation of the European Strategy for Particle Physics-Accelerator R&D Roadmap by the Laboratory Directors Group [2], hereinafter referred to as the the European LDG roadmap. The Muon Collider Study (MuC) covers the accelerator complex, detectors and physics for a future muon collider. In 2023, European Commission support was obtained for a design study of a muon collider (MuCol) [3]. This project started on 1st March 2023, with work-packages aligned with the overall muon collider studies. In preparation of and during the 2021-22 U.S. Snowmass process, the muon collider project parameters, technical studies and physics performance studies were performed and presented in great detail. Recently, the P5 panel [4] in the U.S. recommended a muon collider R&D, proposed to join the IMCC and envisages that the U.S. should prepare to host a muon collider, calling this their "muon shot". Abstract: The PHENIX experiment measured the centrality dependence of two-pion Bose-Einstein correlation functions in $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$~GeV Au$+$Au collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The data are well represented by L\'evy-stable source distributions. The extracted source parameters are the correlation-strength parameter $\lambda$, the L\'evy index of stability $\alpha$, and the L\'evy-scale parameter $R$ as a function of transverse mass $m_T$ and centrality. The $\lambda(m_T)$ parameter is constant at larger values of $m_T$, but decreases as $m_T$ decreases. The L\'evy scale parameter $R(m_T)$ decreases with $m_T$ and exhibits proportionality to the length scale of the nuclear overlap region. The L\'evy exponent $\alpha(m_T)$ is independent of $m_T$ within uncertainties in each investigated centrality bin, but shows a clear centrality dependence. At all centralities, the L\'evy exponent $\alpha$ is significantly different from that of Gaussian ($\alpha=2$) or Cauchy ($\alpha=1$) source distributions. Comparisons to the predictions of Monte-Carlo simulations of resonance-decay chains show that in all but the most peripheral centrality class (50%-60%), the obtained results are inconsistent with the measurements, unless a significant reduction of the in-medium mass of the $\eta'$ meson is included. In each centrality class, the best value of the in-medium $\eta'$ mass is compared to the mass of the $\eta$ meson, as well as to several theoretical predictions that consider restoration of $U_A(1)$ symmetry in hot hadronic matter., Comment: 401 authors from 75 institutions, 23 pages, 15 figures, 2 tables. v2 is version accepted for publication by Physical Review C. 18. On the Consistency of Dynamic Wetting Boundary Conditions for the Navier-Stokes-Cahn-Hilliard Equations

Abstract: We investigate the limiting behavior of the Navier-Stokes-Cahn-Hilliard model for binary-fluid flows as the diffuse-interface thickness passes to zero, in the presence of fluid-fluid-solid contact lines. Allowing for motion of such contact lines relative to the solid substrate is required to adequately model multi-phase and multi-species fluid transport past and through solid media. Even though diffuse-interface models provide an inherent slip mechanism through the mobility-induced diffusion, this slip vanishes as the interface thickness and mobility parameter tend to zero in the so-called sharp-interface limit. The objective of this work is to present dynamic wetting and generalized Navier boundary conditions for diffuse-interface models that are consistent in the sharp-interface limit. We concentrate our analysis on the prototypical binary-fluid Couette-flow problems. To verify the consistency of the diffuse-interface model in the limit of vanishing interface thickness, we provide reference limit solutions of a corresponding sharp-interface model. For parameter values both at and away from the critical viscosity ratio, we present and compare the results of both the diffuse- and sharp-interface models. The close match between both model results indicates that the considered test case lends itself well as a benchmark for further research., Comment: 28 pages, 8 figures

Abstract: Interferometric experiments designed to detect the highly redshifted 21-cm signal from neutral hydrogen are producing increasingly stringent constraints on the 21-cm power spectrum, but some k-modes remain systematics-dominated. Mutual coupling is a major systematic that must be overcome in order to detect the 21-cm signal, and simulations that reproduce effects seen in the data can guide strategies for mitigating mutual coupling. In this paper, we analyse 12 nights of data from the Hydrogen Epoch of Reionization Array and compare the data against simulations that include a computationally efficient and physically motivated semi-analytic treatment of mutual coupling. We find that simulated coupling features qualitatively agree with coupling features in the data; however, coupling features in the data are brighter than the simulated features, indicating the presence of additional coupling mechanisms not captured by our model. We explore the use of fringe-rate filters as mutual coupling mitigation tools and use our simulations to investigate the effects of mutual coupling on a simulated cosmological 21-cm power spectrum in a "worst case" scenario where the foregrounds are particularly bright. We find that mutual coupling contaminates a large portion of the "EoR Window", and the contamination is several orders-of-magnitude larger than our simulated cosmic signal across a wide range of cosmological Fourier modes. While our fiducial fringe-rate filtering strategy reduces mutual coupling by roughly a factor of 100 in power, a non-negligible amount of coupling cannot be excised with fringe-rate filters, so more sophisticated mitigation strategies are required., Comment: 19 pages, 12 figures, submitted to MNRAS

Abstract: High-momentum two-particle correlations are a useful tool for studying jet-quenching effects in the quark-gluon plasma. Angular correlations between neutral-pion triggers and charged hadrons with transverse momenta in the range 4--12~GeV/$c$ and 0.5--7~GeV/$c$, respectively, have been measured by the PHENIX experiment in 2014 for Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$~GeV. Suppression is observed in the yield of high-momentum jet fragments opposite the trigger particle, which indicates jet suppression stemming from in-medium partonic energy loss, while enhancement is observed for low-momentum particles. The ratio and differences between the yield in Au$+$Au collisions and $p$$+$$p$ collisions, $I_{AA}$ and $\Delta_{AA}$, as a function of the trigger-hadron azimuthal separation, $\Delta\phi$, are measured for the first time at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Abstract: Surface-active agents (surfactants) release potential energy as they migrate from one of two adjacent fluids onto their fluid-fluid interface, a process that profoundly impacts the system's energy and entropy householding. The continuum thermodynamics underlying such a surfactant-enriched binary-fluid system has not yet been explored comprehensively. In this article, we present a mathematical description of such a system, in terms of balance laws, equations of state, and permissible constitutive relations and interface conditions, that satisfies the first and second law of thermodynamics. The interface conditions and permissible constitutive relations are revealed through a Coleman-Noll analysis. We characterize the system's equilibrium by defining equilibrium equivalences and study an example system. With our work, we aim to provide a systematically derived framework that combines and links various elements of existing literature, and that can serve as a thermodynamically consistent foundation for the (numerical) modeling of full surfactant-enriched binary-fluid systems., Comment: 33 pages and 3 figures

In this paper, noncommutative geometry, often viewed as an offshoot of string theory, is the primary fundamental theory that gives rise to macroscopic wormholes and their properties, thereby becoming an emergent phenomenon. Abstract: The nearby elliptical galaxy M87 contains one of the only two supermassive black holes whose emission surrounding the event horizon has been imaged by the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT). In 2018, more than two dozen multi-wavelength (MWL) facilities (from radio to gamma-ray energies) took part in the second M87 EHT campaign. The goal of this extensive MWL campaign was to better understand the physics of the accreting black hole M87*, the relationship between the inflow and inner jets, and the high-energy particle acceleration. Understanding the complex astrophysics is also a necessary first step towards performing further tests of general relativity. The MWL campaign took place in April 2018, overlapping with the EHT M87* observations. We present a new, contemporaneous spectral energy distribution (SED) ranging from radio to very high energy (VHE) gamma-rays, as well as details of the individual observations and light curves. We also conduct phenomenological modelling to investigate the basic source properties. We present the first VHE gamma-ray flare from M87 detected since 2010. The flux above 350 GeV has more than doubled within a period of about 36 hours. We find that the X-ray flux is enhanced by about a factor of two compared to 2017, while the radio and millimetre core fluxes are consistent between 2017 and 2018. We detect evidence for a monotonically increasing jet position angle that corresponds to variations in the bright spot of the EHT image. Our results show the value of continued MWL monitoring together with precision imaging for addressing the origins of high-energy particle acceleration. While we cannot currently pinpoint the precise location where such acceleration takes place, the new VHE gamma-ray flare already presents a challenge to simple one-zone leptonic emission model approaches, and emphasises the need for combined image and spectral modelling., Comment: 46 pages, 23 figures, accepted by Astronomy & Astrophysics on August. 29, 2024

Abstract: In order to deal with the interaction of an electromagnetic wave with large homogeneous objects of arbitrary shape with smooth surface we develop the ray theory of waves (RTW) which is composed of the vectorial complex ray model (VCRM) and VCRM based singularity theory. By introducing the wavefront curvature as an intrinsic property of rays, VCRM permits to predict the amplitude and the phase of field at any point rigorously in the sense of ray model. Its combination with the singularity theory remedies the discontinuity in the ray model. In this letter, the wavefront equation, key physical law of VCRM describing the relation between the wavefront curvatures of the incident wave and the refracted/reflected wave, is derived for the most general case of three dimension scattering. The strategy of the calculation scheme in RTW is described. Typical applications to the prediction of the rainbow patterns of a spheroidal drop are presented. The comparison to a rigorous numerical method, multilevel fast multipole algorithm, shows that RTW can predict very fast and precisely the scattered field even in the vicinity of caustics., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures

35. A Classification Tool to Foster Self-Regulated Learning with Generative Artificial Intelligence by Applying Self-Determination Theory: A Case of ChatGPT

Abstract: Generative AI such as ChatGPT provides an instant and individualized learning environment, and may have the potential to motivate student self-regulated learning (SRL), more effectively than other non-AI technologies. However, the impact of ChatGPT on student motivation, SRL, and needs satisfaction is unclear. Motivation and the SRL process can be explained using self-determination theory (SDT) and the three phases of forethought, performance, and self-reflection, respectively. Accordingly, a Delphi design was employed in this study to determine how ChatGPT-based learning activities satisfy students' each SDT need, and foster each SRL phase from a teacher perspective. We involved 36 SDT school teachers with extensive expertise in technology enhanced learning to develop a classification tool for learning activities that affect student needs satisfaction and SRL phases using ChatGPT. We collaborated with the teachers in three rounds to investigate and identify the activities, and we revised labels, descriptions, and explanations. The major finding is that a classification tool for 20 learning activities using ChatGPT was developed. The tool suggests how ChatGPT better satisfy SDT-based needs, and fosters the three SRL phrases. This classification tool can assist researchers in replicating, implementing, and integrating successful ChatGPT in education research and development projects. The tool can inspire teachers to modify the activities using generative AI for their own teaching, and inform policymakers on how to develop guidelines for AI in education.

36. Mindfulness Mitigates the Adverse Effects of Problematic Smartphone Use on Academic Self-Efficacy: A Structural Equation Modelling Analysis

Abstract: While prior research has shown higher mindfulness is associated with lower problematic smartphone use (PSU), the contexts of these studies were not related to education or student performance. As such, whether and how mindfulness can reduce the adverse effects of PSU on academic self-efficacy remains unknown. This study proposed a model for testing whether and how mindfulness exerts its effects on PSU and academic self-efficacy through different pathways in which self-esteem, academic motivation, and smartphone time serve as mediators. To this end, a questionnaire survey, comprising Smartphone Addiction Scale (Short Version), Mindful Attention Awareness Scale, Short Academic Motivation Scale, Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale, and Educational Self-efficacy Scale, was administered to a sample of 821 university students from Hong Kong during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022. The findings of this study show that mindfulness reduces the adverse effects of PSU on academic self-efficacy. Four different mediation pathways were identified, showing how the effects of mindfulness on PSU and academic self-efficacy are mediated through self-esteem, academic amotivation, and smartphone time. Specifically, mindfulness has a direct negative effect on PSU and a direct positive effect on academic self-efficacy. Mindfulness also exerts indirect effects on PSU mediated serially by self-esteem, academic amotivation, and smartphone time.

Abstract: We report results of optical identification and multi-wavelength study of a new polar-type magnetic cataclysmic variable (MCV), SRGA J213151.5+491400, discovered by Spectrum Roentgen-Gamma ($SRG$) observatory in the course of the all-sky survey. We present optical data from telescopes in Turkey (RTT-150 and T100 at the T\"UBITAK National Observatory), and in Russia (6-m and 1-m at SAO RAS), together with the X-ray data obtained with $ART-XC$ and $eROSITA$ telescopes aboard $SRG$ and the $NICER$ observatory. We detect SRGA J213151.5+491400 in a high state in 2020 (17.9 mag) that decreases about 3 mag into a low state (21 mag) in 2021. We find only one significant period using optical photometric time series analysis which reveals the white dwarf spin/orbital period to be 0.059710(1) days (85.982 min). The long slit spectroscopy in the high state yields a power law continuum increasing towards the blue with a prominent He II line along with the Balmer line emissions with no cyclotron humps; consistent with MCV nature. Doppler Tomography confirms the polar nature revealing ballistic stream accretion along with magnetic stream during the high state. These characteristics show that the new source is a polar-type MCV. $SRG$ $ART-XC$ detections yield an X-ray flux of (4.0-7.0)$\times$10$^{-12}$ erg cm$^2$ s$^{-1}$ in the high state. $eROSITA$ detects a dominating hot plasma component (kT$_{\rm{max}}$ $>$ 21 keV in the high state) declining to (4.0-6.0)$\times$10$^{-13}$ erg cm$^2$ s$^{-1}$ in 2021 (low state). The $NICER$ data obtained in the low state reveal a two-pole accretor showing a soft X-ray component at (6-7)$\sigma$ significance with a blackbody temperature of 15-18 eV. Abstract: With the global spread and increasing transmission rate of SARS-CoV-2, more and more laboratories and researchers are turning their attention to wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE), hoping it can become an effective tool for large-scale testing and provide more ac-curate predictions of the number of infected individuals. Based on the cases of sewage sampling and testing in some regions such as Hong Kong, Brazil, and the United States, the feasibility of detecting the novel coronavirus in sewage is extremely high. This study re-views domestic and international achievements in detecting SARS-CoV-2 through WBE and summarizes four aspects of COVID-19, including sampling methods, virus decay rate cal-culation, standardized population coverage of the watershed, algorithm prediction, and provides ideas for combining field modeling with epidemic prevention and control. Moreover, we highlighted some diagnostic techniques for detection of the virus from sew-age sample. Our review is a new approach in identification of the research gaps in waste water-based epidemiology and diagnosis and we also predict the future prospect of our analysis.
