Nanocomposite film heaters are promising for out-of-oven (OoO) and energy-efficient curing of fiber-reinforced polymer composites. However, the current techniques for manufacturing nanocomposite film heaters are intensive in terms of time and energy and require expensive resources. In this work, we present a facile and rapid approach for preparation of nanocomposite film heaters with excellent heat generation properties based on a frontally polymerizable resin system. This approach enables rapid fabrication of nanocomposite films within a few minutes and without the need for using expensive equipment, making it suitable for mass production of nanocomposite film heaters. Various characterization techniques are used to determine the morphology, composition, and mechanical properties of nanocomposite films. The electrothermal performance of nanocomposite film heaters are then evaluated under various conditions. Nanostructured heaters exhibit excellent Joule heating properties, where temperatures as high as ∼132°C can be reached within only 2 min using a low input power density of ∼2 W cm−2. Finally, a nanocomposite film heater is used for OoO curing of a small composite panel with minimal energy consumption. Using this approach, 0.1 MJ of energy is consumed during the 4-h cure cycle of a commercial prepreg system, which would otherwise require at least 40.5 MJ of energy to cure using a convection oven.

Background: Water safety planning is a comprehensive risk assessment and management approach encompassing all steps in a drinking-water supply chain, from catchment to consumer. A Water Safety Plan (WSP) ensures drinking water safety through this approach. In this study, risk factors are initially identified and evaluated. Then control and corrective measures are determined to reduce or eliminate health and environmental hazards of rural water supply systems in Khorramshahr City, Iran, according to the guidelines of the WSP provided by the World Health Organization.Methods: This research is a descriptive cross-sectional study in which rural water supply systems in Khorramshahr were studied using the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) risk systematic method. The Risk Priority Number (RPN) was calculated to determine the risk level after identifying 14 risk factors using experts’ opinions. Then, control and corrective measures were considered for medium, high, and very high-level risk factors.Results: The evaluation results of 14 risk factors identified in the distribution network and point of consumption indicated that 71.5% of them were at the medium risk level and 28.5% at the high (critical) risk level. After determining control and corrective measures, 92.9% of risk factors reached the medium (manageable) level and 7.1% the critical level.Conclusion: This result indicates that water safety guidelines can replace traditional methods of inspection and process control, and significant improvements can be achieved with the help of risk assessment by the FMEA method and step-by-step implementation of the WSP as an essential evolutionary solution for preventive measures and reducing the level of existing risks.

A pituitary abscess is an often-overlooked diagnosis in the clinical presentation of a sellar mass. Due to its rare incidence and nonspecific presentation, diagnosis and treatment is often delayed. The authors describe a 56-year-old male patient presenting with acute onset of severe headache, visual field deficit, and radiologic findings of an expansile sellar lesion. The presenting symptoms were unremarkable for the diagnosis of meningitis, cavernous sinus thrombosis, and septicemia. Recent medical history included symptoms of rhinosinusitis on the days preceding his acute presentation. The initial clinical presentation was suggestive of a possible pituitary apoplexy. Intraoperative findings revealed purulent output upon surgical entry of the sella. Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of a pituitary abscess. Review of the clinical and radiologic data revealed evidence of multiple opacifications within the paranasal sinuses, along with dehiscence overlying the sellar bone, supporting a diagnosis of secondary pituitary abscess. This case, along with a review of the available literature, will serve to expand our knowledge of this rare disease process that is often overlooked. Clinicians should be mindful of this condition, and include a primary versus secondary pituitary abscess in the differential workup on such cases.

Abstract Objectives Oncogenic osteomalacia is a paraneoplastic syndrome in which the tumor secretes a peptide-like hormone, fibroblast growth factor, resulting in urinary loss of phosphates. Methods We present the case of a 50-year-old woman with a benign phosphaturic mesenchymal tumor (PMT) involving the ethmoid sinus with obstruction of the ostiomeatal complex causing unilateral nasal airway obstruction. Results The tumor was initially thought to be an esthesioneuroblastoma based on primary pathology interpretation and on clinical and radiographic appearance. However, a benign PMT was later confirmed by further testing. Conclusion The tumor was removed entirely by the endoscopic transnasal approach, leading to a full resolution of symptoms.

The marine fish larvae mostly rely on livefeed, with certain nutritional deficiencies such as poor long chain fatty acids, in spite of recent progress in developing artificial feed. Thus, the present experiment was conducted to evaluate a 30-day dietary effects of enriched rotifer (Brachionus rotundiformis) and Artemia nauplii (Artemia franciscana) with docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) on performance of yellowtail sea bream (Acanthopagrus latus) larvae. For this purpose, 60,000 larvae from wild broodstocks were stocked in 12 tanks (50 larvae/L) supplied with green water (0.5 ×106 cell/ml Nannochloropsis. sp). The rotifer and Artemia were enriched with four experimental emulsions contained four levels of DHA including very low (6 %, DHA-VL), low (12 %, DHA-L), medium (24 %, DHA-M) and high (37.8 %, DHA-H). Larvae were fed with rotifers from day 2–20 post hatch (DPH) and Artemia metanauplii (Instar-II, from 16 to 30 DPH). After the 30-day dietary trial, survival rate and growth performance of larvae were found not affected by different levels of DHA (P > 0.05). The activity of digestive enzymes including total proteases, lipase, amylase, alkaline phosphatase, and leucine-alanine peptidase showed some fluctuations among the experimental groups. However, in the most of the sampling intervals, except for protease activity, the activity of digestive enzymes did not change significantly among the experimental groups. The n–3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, particularly eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and DHA, were the highest in the whole body of larvae from DHA-M treatment.
