- Abstract
Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are considered highly efficient and hold great potential for next-generation photovoltaic devices due to their excellent properties. However, there are some challenges that hinder their mass production, such as toxicity in lead-based PSCs, nonstability, and high manufacturing costs. This study aims to address these challenges by proposing a device modeling approach to optimize the design of highly efficient lead-free cesium titanium bromide (Cs2TiBr6) perovskite solar cells. Cs2TiBr6-based perovskite solar cells have low performance due to the lack of suitable electron and hole transport layers. Therefore, this study utilizes numerical simulations in SCAPS-1D to investigate the effect of different parameters, including the doping density of optimized hole and electron transport layers, the thickness of the absorber layer, theNA/NDof the absorption layer, and the defect concentration. The study models six different device structures with different hole transport layerss. However, an optimized novel structure device Se/CuSbS2/Cs2TiBr6/IZGO/FTO/Glass has been proposed, with a theoretical power conversion efficiency of 29.19%. This device has aVOCof 1.33 V, JSCof 24.28 mA cm−2, and FF of 90.46%. Overall, this study demonstrates the potential of Cs2TiBr6as a promising material for perovskite solar cells, providing a nontoxic, green renewable energy solution for the future.

Halideperovskiteshave risen in popularity as appealing light absorber materials, owing primarily to their wide range of applications in solar cells, lasers, photodetectors. However, lead-containingperovskiteshave the potential to cause substantial environmental damage. As a result, there is a significant need to produce environmentally acceptable lead-free perovskites. In this work, we studied the single, double and triple halides perovskite by numerical simulator SCAPS-1D for maximum performance. We have optimized the absorber layer thickness, NA/ND/Ntand interfacedefect density, back contact electrodes, and temperature effects in a single absorber layer structure. Further, we have optimized the double and triple-layer absorbers forperovskite solar cellstructures. The maximum efficiency achieved in the double halideperovskite solar cellis VOC=1.54V, JSC=24.04mA/cm2, FF =82.72%, and PCE =30.06%. Such performance is due to the absorption coefficient spectrum with a wide range of energy band gaps. This has proved its suitability forphotovoltaic devices. Overall, our findings reveal that Cs2TiX6(X=Br, Cl, I) Pb-free perovskites have promising and potential features for device performance.

Ship of Theseus (Gandhi, 2013) an experimental film, presents an intriguing narrative of human and technology relations involving three characters namely Aaliya, who is a visually differently abled woman photographer, Maitreya, a monk diagnosed with liver cirrhosis and fighting against testing animals for drug validation, and that of Navin, a stockbroker, who after receiving kidney transplantation set out to help a poor man to get back his stolen kidney. This study examines the human-technology relations between Aaliya and her passion for photography that she took up after she lost the cornea in both her eyes. The film narrates the post-abnormal phase in her life and how she engages with the world without eyesight. However, regaining her eyesight following cornea transplantation, affords a different experience engaging with photography wherein she realizes that visuality squashes her ingenuity. The ocular-centric visual regime surrounding photography disables her from clicking pictures. Her feeling and sensing the world through technology is dictated by seeing unlike her embodied relations she experienced before her surgery. Analysed through the theoretical frameworks of phenomenology and post-phenomenology, this paper found out that, prior to regaining eyesight, Aaliya embodied camera and concomitant technologies to make sense of the world. Her embodiment of photo editing software, video chat with her mother online and other technological material objects anchored her sense of being. While Aaliya is caught in a tension between her embodied relations with technologies during the moments when she was visually differently abled and later when she regains eyesight, she comes across as a post-human establishing an intercorporeal relationship between Aaliya and technologies she uses in the film. Besides, her differently abled body represents a cyborgian body challenging the corporeal fetishism humanistic approaches advance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

36. Dress and Gulf imagery in two Malayalam films: Pathemariand Marubhoomiyile Aana

- Abstract
AbstractMalayalam films since the 1970s have captured the history of Gulf migration from Kerala, which occurs primarily due to the desperate need of its people for jobs and for money. Predominantly, the discourses of migrants in the films are embedded in various things, including dress from the Gulf, the insignia of opulence that depict the status of the migrants in the public sphere. Using thematic analysis of two Malayalam films, Pathemariand Marubhoomiyile Aana, this study argues that the motif of the Gulf is associated with power and control in the cultural discourse of Kerala. Drawing on the semiotic analysis of Barthes, we contend that the replacement of mundu, a traditional attire of Kerala men, by trousers, is one among several mythical markers of modernity, including perfumes and watches brought from the Gulf. The performativity and materiality of dress in these two films produce imageries of the Gulf by which the wearers, mostly male, accumulate social and symbolic capital and assert dominance in the film’s narration.

Performative acts of reading in websites are defined by interactivity which constitutes a site of action and signs in cyberspace. The interactive potential in websites is further augmented through multimodal representations of content. Multimodality hinges on synaesthetic combinations of multiple modes such as orality, writing, visuality and sound. This paper seeks to examine the multimodal representations of discourses surrounding the news of death sentence awarded to four convicts involved in Delhi gang rape and murder of Nirbhaya in CNN IBN news website. Furthermore, it adopts an approach to locate affective forces that characterise the multimodal text concerning the macro-theme of the news through mediated discourses of affect. NEWSPAPERS ,NEWSPAPER circulation ,FIELD theory (Social psychology) ,DIGITAL media ,NEWS websites - Abstract
Drawing on Bourdieu’s field theory, this paper examines how the Hindustan Times, one of the leading English dailies in India, integrates mojo (contraction of mobile journalism) into its journalistic practices. Further, this paper explores how journalists respond to the concomitant changes brought about by the adoption of technologised practices in the newsroom. The analysis of qualitative data obtained from participant-observation and in-depth interview reveals that the practice of mojo, which is about learning new apps and tools, producing short videos by and for mobile devices, and disseminating news to digital readers through multiple platforms, emerges as a new rule in the field of journalism. Instead of depending solely on a team of mobile journalists, the newspaper aims to develop capabilities and impart training to journalists across the board in the newsroom. This study also reveals that journalists at the Hindustan Times experienced the practice of mojo as both en-skilling and de-skilling. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper aims to assess the concentration of heavy metals (Fe, Zn, Cu, Pb, Cr, Ni and Co) in leaves and flowers of four fragrant Rosa species irrigated with treated and untreated wastewater. Analysis of irrigation water showed that all minerals and chemicals were in permissible level in canal water and treated wastewater whereas untreated wastewater contained higher electrical conductivity (EC), biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD) and metals like Cd, Co, Cu and Pb. Results of experiment showed that all metals were in acceptable range recommended by World Health Organisation (WHO) except Cr and Ni. Chromium level was high than permissible limits in Rosa species under all irrigations in leaves and flowers. Ni contents were high in leaves and flowers under untreated and treated wastewater respectively in Rosa species (except Rosa Gruss-an-teplitz) during 2nd year of experiment. This study confirmed that metals contents varied from spot to spot, species to species and different parts of each species. As wastewater can efficiently increase water resources for irrigation but it is still recommended that untreated wastewater should be treated to some extent to lower down the contamination and plants should be analysed for contaminants before processing them for medicinal/food purpose or for human consumption. JOURNALISM ,MASS media ,TRANSLATIONS - Abstract
The field of journalism has always been inflected by technological disruptions that take place continually. Disruption ushered in by the digitalisation and convergence of media has changed the ways journalists perform their routine journalistic tasks. Non-human actants like mobile phones, smart phones, messaging apps, and social media among others have influenced journalistic practices in the realm of converged media. This research paper attempts to explore how smart phones, social media and other convergent media and related practices alter or translate the journalistic network of news production. To understand the phenomena, the researchers conducted in-depth interview with twelve journalists from the Hindustan Times and Hindustan Dainik, Lucknow and Dainik Jagran, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. The audio recordings of interviews were transcribed and coded as per the three stages of thematic analysis using qualitative data analysis software NVivo. Emerging literature on convergence journalism and actor-network theory has been invoked for analysis and discussion. The analysis shows that journalists from all three newspapers are adept at dealing with converged technologies and concomitant practices. News technologies like WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, the content management software or central server (NewsWrap) and page-making software namely QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign have become prominent non-human actors performing the role of mediators. The attendant practices of these news technologies indicate substantial translation of the journalistic network in terms of how journalists do their work and how the resources of the organisation and the knowledge produced are coordinated. THRUST belts (Geology) ,FOLDS (Geology) ,HYDROCARBON analysis ,JURASSIC Period - Abstract
The southeast Hazara forms a part of Himalayan fold and thrust belt of Pakistan. The study area is covered by Mesozoic-Cenozoic age rocks that have undergone severe deformation and is characterized by the formation of complex fold and thrust assemblages. The structures include northwest and southeast verging thrust systems with associated folds. Two deformational events separate the structures in the area. The structures in the northwestern quadrant display southeast facing direction whereas the southeastern quadrant is dominated by structures that dip towards southeast. The general trend of the structures is northeast- southwest and that attributes to the northwest-southeast contractile deformation. The trend of the structures depicts that stresses were directed from northwest. The folds are found to be tight to overturned and the cores of the folds are usually occupied by competent Samana Suk Formation. The organic rich horizons were observedin the field within the Formation, the TOC of which was calculated as 0.28%. Microfacies analysis reveals well sorted and well-rounded ooidal-peloidal grainstones and packstones as well as dolomitized and fractured wackestones and mudstones. The diagenetic signatures include fracturing and dolomitization depicting its source and reservoir quality for a hydrocarbon prospect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND: Acute appendicitis is the most common surgical emergency in children. Differentiation of acute appendicitis from conditions that do not require operative management can be challenging in children. This study aimed to identify the optimum risk prediction model to stratify acute appendicitis risk in children. METHODS: We did a rapid review to identify acute appendicitis risk prediction models. A prospective, multicentre cohort study was then done to evaluate performance of these models. Children (aged 5-15 years) presenting with acute right iliac fossa pain in the UK and Ireland were included. For each model, score cutoff thresholds were systematically varied to identify the best achievable specificity while maintaining a failure rate (ie, proportion of patients identified as low risk who had acute appendicitis) less than 5%. The normal appendicectomy rate was the proportion of resected appendixes found to be normal on histopathological examination. FINDINGS:15 risk prediction models were identified that could be assessed. The cohort study enrolled 1827 children from 139 centres, of whom 630 (34·5%) underwent appendicectomy. The normal appendicectomy rate was 15·9% (100 of 630 patients). The Shera score was the best performing model, with an area under the curve of 0·84 (95% CI 0·82-0·86). Applying score cutoffs of 3 points or lower for children aged 5-10 years and girls aged 11-15 years, and 2 points or lower for boys aged 11-15 years, the failure rate was 3·3% (95% CI 2·0-5·2; 18 of 539 patients), specificity was 44·3% (95% CI 41·4-47·2; 521 of 1176), and positive predictive value was 41·4% (38·5-44·4; 463 of 1118). Positive predictive value for the Shera score with a cutoff of 6 points or lower (72·6%, 67·4-77·4) was similar to that of ultrasound scan (75·0%, 65·3-83·1). INTERPRETATION: The Shera score has the potential to identify a large group of children at low risk of acute appendicitis who could be considered for early discharge. Risk scoring does not identify children who should proceed directly to surgery. Medium-risk and high-risk children should undergo routine preoperative ultrasound imaging by operators trained to assess for acute appendicitis, and MRI or low-dose CT if uncertainty remains. - Abstract
This computational study investigates 21 bioactive compounds from the Asteraceae family as potential inhibitors targeting the Spike protein (S protein) of SARS-CoV-2. Employing in silico methods and simulations, particularly CDOCKER and MM-GBSA, the study identifies two standout compounds, pterodontic acid and cichoric acid, demonstrating robust binding affinities (-46.1973 and -39.4265 kcal/mol) against the S protein. Comparative analysis with Favipiravir underscores their potential as promising inhibitors. Remarkably, these bioactives exhibit favorable ADMET properties, suggesting safety and efficacy. Molecular dynamics simulations validate their stability and interactions, signifying their potential as effective SARS-CoV-2 inhibitors., (© 2024 Wiley Periodicals LLC.)

- Abstract
Background: Pantoea agglomerans is an environmental pathogen known to cause infection in immunocompromised individuals, particularly after thorn injuries. However, previous data showed few cases of human disease caused by contaminated medical products such as parenteral nutrition, anesthetic agents, blood, and peritoneal dialysis solutions. Infection in hemodialysis patients is rare. In this study, we presented a detailed account of several hemodialysis patients infected with this contagious pathogen and compared them with noninfected dialysis patients., Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the hospital records of 105 hemodialysis patients. Seventeen of 105 patients were diagnosed with P. agglomerans infection. We carefully analyzed their entire in-hospital course., Results: Among infected patients, 52.9% were male with a median age of 49 (IQR: 32-66) years. Compared to the noninfected patients, age below 50 years, prior kidney transplantation, prior immunosuppression and antibiotics use, and dialysis via a tunneled vascular catheter were the significant epidemiological features. Despite negative microbiological investigations, we suspect the possible infectious spread via infected central venous catheter was the likely infectious source. Most importantly, all patients responded well to intravenous antibiotics. Only two patients required the removal of the tunneled catheter. Their mortality rate was 0%., Conclusion: P. agglomerans infection, although considered rare, is becoming increasingly prevalent among dialysis patients. Its occurrence must be appraised as an infectious outbreak rather than mere contamination. Prompt treatment, source identification, and early implementation of preventive strategies should always be the goal to curtail this infection at an early stage., (© 2023 Wiley Periodicals LLC.)

- Abstract
Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have garnered significant attention in the scientific community due to their rapid increase in performance. Inorganic perovskite devices have been noted for their high performance and long-term stability. This study introduces a device optimization process guided by modeling to produce high-efficiency PSCs using lead-free n-i-p methylammonium tin bromide (MASnBr
3 ) materials. We have thoroughly examined the impact of both the absorber and interface layers on the optimized structure. Our approach utilized graphene as the interface layer between the hole transport and absorber layers. We employed zinc oxide (ZnO)/Al and 3C-SiC as interface layers between the absorber and electron transport layers. The optimization process involved adjusting the thicknesses of the absorber layer and interface layers and minimizing defect densities. Our proposed optimized device structure, ZnO/3C-SiC/MASnBr3 /graphene/CuO/Au, demonstrates theoretical power conversion efficiencies of 31.97%, fill factors of 89.38%, a current density of 32.54 mA/cm2 , a voltage of 1.112 V, and a quantum efficiency of 94%. This research underscores the ability of MASnBr3 as a nontoxic perovskite material for sustainable energy from renewable sources' applications., Competing Interests: The authors declare no competing financial interest., (© 2024 The Authors.
