Background: Cardiac rotational parameters in primary symptomatic left ventricular noncompaction (LVNC) with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) are not well understood. We aimed to analyze cardiac rotation measured with cardiac magnetic resonance feature-tracking (CMR-FT) and speckle-tracking echocardiography (Echo-ST) in LVNC morphology subjects with preserved LVEF and different genotypes and healthy controls. Methods: Our retrospective study included 54 LVNC subjects with preserved LVEF and 54 control individuals. We evaluated functional and rotational parameters with CMR in the total study population and with echocardiography in 39 LVNC and 40 C individuals. All LVNC subjects were genotyped with a 174-gene next-generation sequencing panel and grouped into the subgroups: benign (B), variant of uncertain significance (VUS), and pathogenic (P). Results: In comparison with controls, LVNC subjects had reduced apical rotational degree (p = 0.004) and one-third had negative apical rotation. While the degree of apical rotation was comparable between the three genetic subgroups, they differed significantly in the direction of apical rotation (p<0.001). In contrast to control and B groups, all four studied cardiac rotational patterns were identified in the P and VUS subgroups, namely normal rotation, positive and negative rigid body rotation, and reverse rotation. When the CMR-FT and Echo-ST methods were compared, the direction and pattern of cardiac rotation had moderate to good association (p<0.001) whereas the rotational degrees showed no reasonable correlation or agreement. Conclusion: While measuring cardiac rotation using both CMR-FT and Echo-ST methods, subclinical mechanical differences were identified in subjects with LVNC phenotype and preserved LVEF, especially in cases with genetic involvement. Survival rate is usually the greatest contributor to population growth in long‐lived species, and its accurate estimation along with the evaluation of the factors influencing it is therefore essential for effective conservation. Here, we studied the survival of breeding eastern imperial eagles Aquila heliaca in Hungary between 2011 and 2022 and investigated the effect of poisoning, the leading known anthropogenic cause of mortality. We used the Cormack‐Jolly‐Seber mark‐recapture model to estimate annual apparent survival and encounter probabilities based on the capture histories of 208 males and 411 females. We obtained encounter data from the DNA profiles of shed feathers collected at the nest sites, which we also supplemented with presences inferred from parentage analysis. The most supported model estimated a constant 91.6% annual survival over the study period, but models including the effect of sex and poisoning rate on survival had similar support. Sex difference in survival was less than 1% on average, but the survival of males decreased more with poisoning rate than the survival of females. However, due to smaller encounter probabilities, the estimates for males were less precise compared to females. Males may be more at risk from poisoning than females not only due to their more active foraging behaviour during incubation and chick‐rearing but also due to their smaller body size. Apart from providing direct practical information for the conservation management of imperial eagles, our results also highlight the importance of long‐term studies for estimating population parameters of birds of prey. As highly automated and autonomous vehicles (AVs) become more and more widespread, inducing the change of traffic dynamics, significant changes occur in traditional traffic control. So far, automotive testing has been done mostly in real-world or pure virtual simulation environment. However, this practice is quite obsolete as testing in real traffic conditions can be quite costly, moreover purely simulation based testing might be inadequate for specific goals. Accordingly, a hybrid concept of the Vehicle-inthe-Loop (ViL) was born recently, in accordance with the Hardware-in-the-Loop concept, i.e. in the ViL concept the vehicle is the 'hardware' within the simulation loop. Furthermore, due to the development of software capabilities, a novel approach, the Scenarioin-the-Loop (SciL) concept evolves based on the ViL approach. The paper defines the main purposes and conditions related to implementing ViL and SciL concepts from the perspective of traffic simulation and traffic control.

Mobility management centres play a significant role in urban transport, taking into account several factors that have an effect on the flow of vehicles. In the present paper a mobility management centre equipped with necessary information and information technologies for travellers is presented that can provide route plans. A route guidance methodology is described that combines current transportation demands with the results of the traditional four-step model.

The knowledge of road traffic parameters is of crucial importance to ensure state-of-the-art traffic services either in public or private transport. In our days, a plethora of road traffic data are continuously collected producing historical and real-time traffic information as well. The available information, however, arrive from inhomogeneous sensor systems. Therefore, a data fusion methodology is proposed based on Switching Kalman Filter. The concept enables efficient travel time estimation for urban road traffic network. On the other hand, the method may contribute to a better macroscopic traffic modelling.

Objective: We describe left ventricular (LV) volumes, myocardial and trabeculated muscle mass and strains with Cardiac magnetic resonance of a large cohort (n=81) who fulfilled the morphologic criteria of left ventricular noncompaction (LVNC) and had good ejection fraction (EF >55%) and compare them with healthy controls (n=81). Male and female patients were compared to matched controls and to each other. We also investigated the LV trabeculated muscle mass cutoff in male and female patients with LVNC. Methods: 81 participants with LVNC and 81 healthy controls were included. Male and female patients were compared to matched controls and to each other. We also investigated the left ventricular trabeculated muscle mass cut-off in male and female LVNC patients. Results: The LV parameters of the LVNC population were normal, but they had significantly higher volumes, myocardial and trabeculated muscle mass, and a significantly smaller EF than the controls. Similar differences were observed after stratifying by sex. The optimal LV trabeculated muscle mass cutoffs were 25.8 g/m2 in men (area under the curve: 0.81) and 19.0 g/m2 in women (area under the curve: 0.87). The patients had normal global strains but a significantly worse global circumferential strain (patients vs controls: -29.9±4.9 vs. -35.8±4.7%, p<0.05) and significantly higher circumferential mechanical dispersion than the controls (patients vs. controls: 7.6±4.2 vs. 6.1±2.8%; p<0.05). No diseaserelated strain differences were noted between men and women. Conclusion: The LV functional and strain characteristics of the LVNC cohort differed significantly from those of healthy participants; this might be caused by increased LV trabeculation, and its clinical relevance might be questionable. The LV trabeculated muscle mass was very different between men and women; thus, the use of sex-specific morphologic diagnostic criteria should be considered. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In Hungary, during the 2000s, pesticide poisoning became the most important threat for raptors, especially for the globally threatened Eastern imperial eagle (Aquila heliaca). In September 2013, with a focus on carbofuran and phorate, the first poison and carcass detection dog (PCDD) unit was formed in Hungary with a specifically trained detection dog and handler. Two more dogs were subsequently trained and joined the unit in 2017 and 2020 respectively. Between its inception until August 2020, the PCDD unit conducted 1,083 searches in five countries, which revealed 329 poisoned animals of 15 bird and nine mammal species, 120 poisoned baits and five pesticide products. Globally threatened species, including eight Eastern imperial eagles and four saker falcons (Falco cherrug), were among the detected victims. Present at 66.45% of wildlife poisoning events, the unit revealed 37.87% of the victims and 79.70% of the poisoned baits known in Hungary during the period 2013-2020. Compared to human surveys, the PCDD unit demonstrated a significantly higher find rate for poisoned baits. At 22 poisoning events (14.38% of all cases) only the PCDD unit revealed victims or poisoned baits; cases that would probably have gone undetected without the PCCD unit. Of the two focal pesticides, carbofuran was more frequently detected - in 88.56% of the positive samples. The unit played a significant role in detecting and combating wildlife poisoning incidents by deterring potential offenders and facilitating police investigations through retrieval of evidence otherwise difficult to obtain.
