The objective of the presentstudy was to determine the views of pre-service preschool teachers onIntegrated Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education andtheir tendencies about integrated STEM instruction. The study group included 35pre-service preschool teachers. The present study, conducted as a single groupresearch model with pre-test-post-test experimental method, was completed in 8weeks. Semi-structured interview form developed by the authors and the"Integrated STEM Instructional Tendencies Scale" developed by Lin andWilliams (2016) adapted to Turkish by Hacıömeroğlu and Bulut (2016) were usedas data collection instruments. The qualitative data obtained are described withthe content analysis methodology. The quantitative data were analyzed withpaired sample t-test. After the implementation of the STEM education program,it was determined that pre-service preschool teachers had positive views onSTEM education approach in general. Furthermore, it was determined that STEM educationwould encourage student to think, transform theoretical knowledge intopractice, and to acquire the skills to obtain concrete products using thetheoretical knowledge that they acquired in the class. The majority of the participatingpre-service teachers indicated that undergraduate programs should includescience, technology, engineering and mathematics courses, teachers fromdifferent fields should collaborate, and the teachers should receive STEM training.

Bu çalışmayla, öğrencilerin bilgisayar laboratuvarında işlenen derslerde siber aylaklık davranışına yönelme nedenlerini belirleyebilmek amacıyla bir ölçek geliştirilmiştir. Ölçek maddeleri oluşturulur iken alanyazında bulunan siber aylaklık konusu ile ilgili yapılan çalışmalar incelenmiş, bunun yanında uzman görüşüne başvurulmuştur. Çalışma kapsamında gerçekleştirilen uygulamalar 2014-2015 Akademik yılında Fırat Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi ve Mühendislik Fakültesinde öğrenim görmekte olan öğrenciler üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmanın 1. uygulamasına 92 kadın 70 erkek toplam 162 öğrenci katılmıştır. 2. uygulamaya ise 254'ü erkek, 223'ü kadın toplam 477 öğrenci katılmıştır. 3. aşamada test-tekrar test yöntemi kullanılmış, ölçek iki hafta arayla 24 erkek ve 20 kadın olmak üzere toplam 44 öğrenciye uygulanmıştır. Toplanan veriler SPSS ve AMOS programları ile analiz edilmiştir. Ölçeğin geçerliğini araştırma için KMO ve Bartlett testi, açımlayıcı ve doğrulayıcı faktör analizi yapılmış, madde ayırt edicilikleri hesaplanmıştır. Ölçeğin güvenirliğini araştırmak için ise ölçeğin iç tutarlılık katsayısı hesaplanmıştır. Toplanan veriler ile yapılan analizlere göre, Cronbach's Alfa güvenirlik katsayısı ölçek için 0.83(>0.70) olarak bulunmuştur. Ölçeğin kararlılığını belirlemek için test-tekrar test yöntemi kullanılmış, ölçek iki hafta arayla 20 erkek, 24 kadın toplam 44 öğrenciye uygulanmıştır. Ölçeğe ilişkin Pearson korelasyon testi sonuçları ve Cronbach's Alfa güvenirlik katsayıları ölçeğin güvenirlik düzeyinin yeterli olduğunu göstermektedir. Ayrıca, yapılan testler ölçeğin "Güdülenme", "Yürütücü Kaynaklı Nedenler" ve "Derse İlişkin Tutum" olmak üzere toplam 3 faktörde toplandığını göstermiştir. Sonuç olarak; Siberaylaklık Nedenleri Ölçeği üç faktör altında toplanan, 11 maddeden oluşmuş 5'li Likert tipi bir ölçektir. Analizler ölçeğin, bireylerin siber aylaklık davranışlarının nedenlerini ölçmeye dönük geçerli ve güvenilir bir araç olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Çalışma sonunda elde edilen bu sonuçlara göre, Siberaylaklık Nedenleri Ölçeği'nin öğrencilerin bilgisayar laboratuarlarında gerçekleştirdikleri siberaylaklık davranışlarını ve nedenlerini belirlemede, eğitim kurumlarında bir ölçme aracı olarak kullanılabileceği söylenebilir., With this study, It is aimed to determine the reasons for cyberloafing behaviors of thestudents in computerlabs. In addition, the tests have been showed that the level of reliability of the scale sufficient and the scale items gather under three factors named "motivation", "attitude towards lesson" and "instructor-induced reasons". Consequently; Reasons of Cyberloafing Scale is a scale consisting of 5 points Likert type with 11 items which grouped under three factors. The analysis phase has been revealed that The Cyberloafing Scale is a valid and reliable tool for measuring the behavior of cyberloafing. According to the results obtained from this study, it can be said that Reasons of Cyberloafing Scale can be used as a measuring intrument in educational institutions for measuring reasons of students' cyberloafing behaviors in computerlabs.

The course of mathematics is a discipline which is frequently used in daily life and which underlies in numerous developments particularly the technological innovations in our era. This field which is commonly used similarly both in many periods of history and today is in the basis of numerous methods and techniques used in development of civilizations, advancements in science and arts, wars between countries, and land share in past. As today's needs are different compared to the past, it is required to train individuals, who are more productive, interrogator, can criticize and have a good knowledge of various information areas and disciplines, needed in information and technology era rather than activities based on muscle and body strength. The fact that the mathematics playing a major role in development of these skills is considered by students as a difficult course and that it is a frightening course makes mathematics the greatest problem to prevent us the contrary to what it should be in scientific and technological developments to be realized. Therefore, the process of development and testing of different approaches in teaching of mathematics has rapidly increased in recent years. The common point of these approaches is to visualize mathematics, to concretize the abstract concepts and to prepareenvironments which enable students to reach whatever they have learnt to higher level than the information and comprehension level and to integrate mathematics to their daily life by supporting the objectives and gains specified in each age group via materials. Lego, which is one of these approaches and entered as toys in our life in previous years, has been started to be used, in recent years, as robotic systems especially in courses of science and technology due to the development of computer technologies. Furthermore, the curriculums intended to thedevelopment of students in basic engineering knowledge and courses of mathematics have begun to develop physical and technological materials. MoretoMath as the first set developed toward mathematics is an activity set consisting of basically three main components intended to the grade 1 and 2 students of primary school, which was released in 2015 and which has not Turkish language support yet. The first component is the curriculum consisting of teacher’s guideline intended to teachers and working sheets depending on activities intended to students. The second component is the computer software prepared for curriculum activities and finally the third component is Lego bricks parts which are used physically in all activities and which are required for formation of model by students in questions. The purpose of this study was to understand the opinions of classroom teacher on software, curriculum, material, and application size of the set throughout the application for 10 weeks in activities based on development of reasoning and problem solving skills in the lesson of mathematics in second grades of primary school which is one of the target groups of the Lego MoretoMath set. An observation form and semistructured open-ended interview questions were used as data collection instruments in the study designed as qualitative case study. It was observed as a result of the study that the classroom teacher considered some of the questions in the activity as difficult with respect to the student level and that he thought that questions could be different from curriculum of the Ministry of National Education in some subjects. It was observed that he thought that the software was very important in concretization of abstract concepts and he stated an opinion that its usage was easy and the Lego parts used as building bricks or as simple instruments made a major contribution to psychomotor development of the student and acquisition of basic mathematical competencies by adding another dimension to the subject. It is considered that the opinions of the teacher are important in the sense that they will be guiding for the individuals who will apply the set in the future as they are intended to ease the use of MoretoMath in classroom environment and to develop the application., Matematik dersi günlük hayatta sıklıkla kullanılan ve çağımızdaki pek çok gelişmenin özellikle de teknolojik yeniliklerin temelinde yer alan bir bilim dalıdır. Matematik öğretiminde kullanılan MoretoMath ise, ilkokul 1 ve 2. sınıf öğrencilerine yönelik hazırlanan bir aktivite setidir. Bu araştırmada Lego MoretoMath setinin hedef kitlesinden biri olan ilkokul 2. Sınıflarda matematik dersinde akıl yürütme ve problem çözme becerilerini geliştirmeye dayalı etkinliklerde 10 hafta süreyle uygulanması sırasında sınıf öğretmeninin sete dair yazılım, eğitim programı, materyal ve uygulama boyutu hakkındaki görüşlerinin anlaşılması amaçlanmıştır. Nitel bir durum çalışması olarak dizayn edilen araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak gözlem formu ve yarı yapılandırılmış açık uçlu mülakat soruları kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda sınıf öğretmeninin aktivite içindeki soruların bazılarını öğrenci seviyesine göre zor bulduğu, soruların bazı konularda Milli Eğitim programına göre farklılıklar gösterebildiğini düşündüğü görülmüştür. Yazılımın soyut kavramları somutlaştırmada büyük önem taşıdığını düşündüğünü, kullanımının kolay olduğunu ve yapı oyuncakları veya basit araç gereç olarak kullanılan Lego parçalarının ise olaya başka bir boyut katarak öğrencinin psiko-motor gelişimine yönelik ve temel matematik yeterliklerinin kazanımına yönelik büyük bir katkısı olduğu şeklinde fikir belirttiği görülmüştür. Öğretmenin görüşlerinin ise MoretoMath’ in sınıf ortamında kullanımını kolaylaştırmaya ve uygulamayı geliştirmeye yönelik olmasından dolayı gelecekte seti kullanacak bireylere yol gösterici olması açısından önemli olduğu düşünülmektedir.

The purpose of this study is to examine Lego and robotics interventions in education. For this aim, 45 master's theses and doctoral dissertations published between 1991 and 2014 with Lego, robotic, and first Lego league keywords were examined. Data were classified according to methods, sample sizes, and variables. Results and suggestions from the manuscripts were also categorized. Document analysis was conducted in order to identify and show general trends. Findings are presented descriptively with charts and tables. The topic was most popular in 2013, and almost half of the studies preferred quantitative methods. Surveys were the most popular data collecting tool, and interviews were second. Sample size changed according to research method, and secondary school students were the most common participants. Surprisingly, most researchers omitted details about data collection time and process. Of those who responded, most dedicated 6 to 8 weeks to data collection. Generally, results showed that incorporating Lego and robotics leads to increased motivation and self-confidence, just like every new technology. Some researchers investigated Lego and robotic usage and perception of gender stereotypes with positive outcomes. Using Lego and robotics also reduced anxiety towards math and science in women. Nearly all researchers suggested longer term studies to gain a clearer vision about this topic. The results of this study will be helpful for guiding future research in this area.Keywords: Lego, robotic, document analysis

First LEGO Lig Turnuvaları 1999 yılından günümüze kadar dünya çapında yapılan ve ülkemizin de 2004 yılından beri katılımcısı olduğu ve her sezon daha fazla katılımcı ve gönüllüyle hayata geçirilen bir bilimsel organizasyondur. Her yıl farklı ülkelerin değişik şehirlerinden binlerce öğrenciyi ve yüzlerce takımı buluşturan First LEGO Lig Turnuvalarının bu yıl 15.sezonu düzenlenmiştir. Küresel düzeyde her sezon farklı bir probleme özgün çözüm üretmeyi hedefleyen First LEGO Lig (FLL) Turnuvaları, bu doğrultuda genç neslin işbirliği halinde, bilimsel, sorgulayıcı, keşfeden, kendine güvenen, gerçek yaşam becerileri edinen ve küresel sorunlara farkındalığı olan bireyler olmasını amaçlamaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, FLL turnuvalarına katılan 9-16 yaş aralığındaki öğrencilerin tutumlarının çeşitli değişkenlere göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığının incelenmesidir. Belirtilen amaç doğrultusunda, 2018-2019 eğitim öğretim yılında Türkiye'de Adana, Manisa, Elazığ, Malatya, İzmir, İstanbul, Kütahya, Diyarbakır ve Bursa illerinde FLL turnuvalarına katılan 10 okuldan seçilen, 160 öğrenci ve 12 takım koçu ile çalışma yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada hem nitel hem de nicel yaklaşımlar birlikte kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel bölümü araştırmanın tüm katılımcıları ile; nitel bölümü ise turnuvaya katılan 24 öğrenci ve 12 takım koçu ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmanın nicel veri toplama aşamasında kullanılan First LEGO Lig Tutum Ölçeği Bilim Kahramanları Derneği (2013) tarafından oluşturulmuştur ve turnuva sonrasında katılımcı öğrencilere uygulanmıştır. Nitel verilerin toplanması aşamasında takım koçları ve öğrencilere yönelik olarak araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanmış yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formları kullanılmıştır.Verilerin analizi aşamasında, nicel verilerin analizi için bağımsız örneklem t-Testi, ANOVA ve Kruskal Wallis- H testi; nitel verilerin analizi için betimsel analiz yapılmıştır.Araştırmada, genel anlamda FLL sürecinin öğrenciler üzerinde olumlu sonuçlar yarattığı görülmektedir. FLL tutum ölçeğinden elde edilen verilerin analizi sonucunda, turnuvaya katılan öğrencilerin cinsiyet değişkenine göre STEM alanlarına olan ilgileri erkek öğrencilerin lehine; deneyim değişkenine göre yaratıcılık; yaş değişkenine göre kişilerarası ilişkiler; takım rolü değişkenine göre özgüven ve yetkinlik farkındalığı alt boyutlarında anlamlı farklılık görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin ve takım koçlarının görüşleri analiz edildiğinde ise turnuvaya katılan öğrencilerin problem çözme becerileri geliştiği; iletişim ve sunum becerileri geliştiği; gerçek dünya problemlerine karşı duyarlılıklarının arttığı, keşfetme ve yaratıcı düşünme becerilerine katkı sağladığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca fiziksel koşulların yetersiz olduğu; maddi koşulları elverişsiz öğrencilerin katılımının kısıtlandığı; devlet okullarına yeterli miktarda destek olunmadığı; turnuvada gerçekleştirilen projeleri değerlendiren jüri üyelerinin FLL süreci konusunda yeterli düzeyde bilgi sahibi olmadıkları sonuçları ortaya çıkmıştır. First LEGO League Tournaments have been held around the world since 1999, and our country has been a participant since 2004 and is a scientific organization which is realized with more participants and volunteers every season. The 15th season of the First LEGO League Tournaments, which brings together thousands of students and hundreds of teams from different cities of different countries every year, was held this year. TheFirst LEGO League (FLL) Tournaments, which aim to produce a unique solution to a different problem every season at the global level, aim to ensure that the young generation cooperates, individuals who are scientific, questioning, discovering, confident, acquire real life skills and are aware of global problems. The aim of this research is to investigate students' attitudes and opinions about FLL Tournament process in depth and to evaluate the results. For the purposes specified, 2018-2019 academic year in Turkey, Adana, Manisa, Elazığ, Malatya, Izmir, Istanbul, Kutahya, Istanbul and Bursa provinces participating in the FLL tournament selected from 10 schools, was conducted with 160 students and 12 teams coach. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches were blended and used in a single study. The quantitative part of the research was conducted with all participants of the research; the qualitative part was realized with 24 students and 12 team coaches.First LEGO League Attitude Scale, which was used in the quantitative data collection phase of the study, was created by the Association of Science Heroes (2013) and applied to the participating students after the tournament. In the process of collecting qualitative data, semi-structured interview forms prepared by the researcher for team coaches and students were used. In the analysis of the data, independent samples t-Test, ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis-H test were used for the analysis of quantitative data; descriptive analysis was used for the analysis of qualitative data. In the study, it is seen that FLL process in general has positive results on students. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained from the FLL attitude scale, there was a significant difference in the interest of STEM students according to the gender variable in favor of male students, creativity according to experience variable, interpersonal relationships according to age variable and self-confidence and competence awareness according to the team role variable. When the opinions of the students and team coaches were analyzed, it was found that the problem solving skills of the students participating in the tournament were improved; improving communication and presentation skills; It was concluded that their sensitivity towards real world problems increased and contributed to their discovery and creative thinking skills. In addition, physical conditions are insufficient; the participation of students whose financial conditions are not suitable is restricted; lack of adequate support for public schools; It was concluded that the jury members who evaluated the projects carried out in the tournament did not have enough information about the FLL process. 113

Bu araştırmada Lego MoretoMath eğitsel aracının ilkokul 2. Sınıfların matematik dersinde kullanımının akıl yürütme, anlama, problem çözme ve akıcılık becerileri üzerindeki etkisinin anlaşılması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma aktivitelerdeki yapı oyuncaklarının ve bilgisayar yazılımının sınıf ortamında ders içerisindeki kullanımında karşılaşılan olumlu ve olumsuz durumların betimlenmesi açısından önemlidir. Bu doğrultuda 2014-2015 eğitim ve öğretim yılının ikinci döneminde okul sonrası bir etkinliğe katılan ilkokul 2. sınıf öğrencileriyle çalışılmıştır. Çalışma grubunu oluşturan 7 öğrencinin dördü erkek, üçü kız öğrencilerdir ve ağırlıklı olarak devlet okulunda öğrenim görmektedirler. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum çalışması kullanılmıştır. Uygulama boyunca ve uygulama bitiminde öğrencilerden gözlem, görüşme ve dokümanlarla veri toplanmıştır. Konunun daha derinlemesine anlaşılabilmesi için ayrıca öğrencilerin velilerinden ve öğretmenden de etkinliğe dair mülakatla görüşleri alınmıştır. Betimsel analiz yaklaşımı kullanılarak veriler analiz edilmiş ve araştırma sorularına paralel olacak şekilde yorumlanmıştır. Etkinlikte öğrenciler okul müfredatında gördükleri sorulardan farklı olan açık uçlu ve ulusal sınav sorularına benzer sorularla karşılaşmışlardır. Ancak MathBuilder yazılımını ve Lego parçaları olan somut materyalleri kullandıklarında sorular karşısında zorlanmamışlardır. Bulgulara göre öğrencilerin sekiz aktivitenin her birinde sınıf genelinde ortalamalarının % 85'ten yüksek olduğu, soruların anlaşılabildiği ve çözüldüğü görülmüştür. En kolay çözülen aktivitelerin problem çözme becerisine odaklanan alışveriş ve anlama becerisine odaklanan yüzme havuzu olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Aktiviteleri çözerken en fazla yapılan hataların soruyu yanlış okumadan veya soruyu anlamamaktan kaynaklandığı belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin her biri için ayrı ayrı performansları değerlendirilmiş ve her birinde ayrı çıktılara ulaşılmıştır. Matematik dersine karşı olumlu tutumu olan ve ders başarısı yüksek olan öğrencilerin aktivitelerden sonra hızlandığı, daha akıcı ve rahat bir şekilde çözümlerini modelledikleri görülmüştür. Matematik ders başarısı fazla yüksek olmayan ve derse karşı daha az olumlu tutum taşıyan öğrencilerde ise işlem becerilerinin arttığı, anlaşılmayan kavramların daha anlaşılır hale geldiği görülmüştür. Ayrıca her aktivitede başarma duygusu tazelenerek derse karşı ilgileri artmıştır. Öğrencilerin yeni öğrendikleri bölme kavramını etkinliklerden sonra daha net anladıkları ve modelledikleri görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin hem fikir olduğu bir başka nokta dersin eğlenceli olması, soruları yazılımla ve materyallerle çözmenin anlaşılır olmasıdır. Aktivitelerin yarısı takım çalışması yapılarak çözüldüğü için öğrencilerin sosyalleştiği ve anlamadıkları noktaları birbirlerine anlattıkları görülmüştür. Öğretmen görüşüne bakıldığında ise MathBuilder yazılımının ve somut materyallerin ders içerisinde kullanımına olumlu baktığı görülmüştür. Çünkü aktivite destekli Lego MoretoMath'in MEB müfredatında yer alan soyut kavramları somutlaştırmak için materyal kullanımı ifadesini desteklediği görüşündedir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin yaratıcılık becerilerini geliştirdiği ve birbirlerinin çözümlerini dinlemeye imkân verdiği için farklı çözüm yolları keşfetmesine fırsat verdiğini düşünmektedir. Yazılımın kullanımı öğretmen tarafından rahat bulunmasına rağmen uygulamalarda daha çok somut materyalleri kullanmayı tercih ettiği görülmüştür. Veliler mülakatlarda, öğrencilerin uygulama öncesine göre artık daha hızlı soru çözdüklerini, eğlenerek ve isteyerek kursa geldiklerini belirtmişlerdir. Sosyalleşerek ve kendi öğrenmelerinin sorumluluğunu alarak ilerleme kaydettiklerini ifade etmişlerdir. Kursu ve etkinlikleri yararlı bulmuş, yazılım ve oyuncak olarak gördükleri Lego parçalarıyla eğitimin anlaşılmayan kavramları daha da netleştirdiği konusunda hem fikir olmuşlardır. Sonuç olarak etkinliğin sonunda öğrencilerin alternatif çözüm yolları görerek problem çözme becerilerini arttırdığı, hız kazanarak daha akıcı bir şekilde işlem yaparak sayıları kullanabildikleri anlaşılmaktadır. Anlamadıkları kavramları modeller üzerinde netleştirdikleri veya yeni öğrendikleri kavramları daha rahat anladıkları gözlemlenmiştir. Sınıf içerisinde takım çalışması sırasında birbirlerinin çözümlerini dinleyerek farklı çözümleri dinleme ve değer vermelerinde bir ilerleme olduğu görülmüştür. Araştırmanın önerilerinin öğretmenlere, velilere ve uygulayıcılara aktivitelere dayalı Lego MoretoMath 'in artılarını ve eksilerini tanımlayarak uygulamanın sınıf ortamında nasıl gerçekleştirilmesi gerektiğine yönelik bir fikir vereceği düşünülmektedir. It explored the benefits and problems that arise when integrating hands-on materials and computer software in the classroom. A case study was conducted as an after-school project in the 2014–2015 spring term. Seven second grade students were included in the study group, (four boys and three girls), mostly attending public elementary schools in Turkey. Data collection tools included interview protocols, observation forms, and student papers. Data were collected from students, their parents and teachers to ensure validity in the study. Finally, data was analyzed descriptively Findings revealed that students solved assigned problems easily using the MathBuilder software and Lego materials. Average student performance was above 85% for eight activities, indicating that most students answered most questions correctly. The easiest activities featured shopping with a focus on problem solving skills and swimming with a focus on understanding. The most common mistake for all students was not reading questions thoroughly enough. Student performances showed different outcomes after instruction. Those who reported enjoying math were successful in gaining fluency and modelled their answers easily. Even students who reported not liking math before instruction had positive results, enhancing their problem solving skills and understanding abstract concepts more easily. Students also gained self-confidence. Partitioning is a new concept for second grade students, but students understood it well after the MoretoMath supported task. They liked the instruction and found it funny. Solving questions with both software and physical materials made the learning process easy. Students socialized, sharing opinions and solutions with each other. The teacher, who agreed to use the MathBuilder software and Lego materials voluntarily, identified several positive outcomes pertaining to the instruction. He reported that using this educational tool enhanced students' creativity while learning abstract concepts and provided opportunities for regular communication and cooperative group work in class. The teacher incorporated the Lego materials more than computer software. In interviews, parents revealed that after instruction their child demonstrated increased learning responsibility, more speed when taking tests, and improved math fluency. Their children liked the course and could apply what they learned in daily life, such as with the shopping activity. Parents generally felt that using computer software and Lego materials—mostly known as toys—was an interesting method for teaching math and that was easier for their children after instruction. They liked that students had the chance to learn and explore abstract concepts with fun, social place. As a result, students learned alternative ways to solve problems, enhancing their problem solving skills and math fluency. Constructing physical models with Lego materials and MathBuilder software also made it easier for them to understand abstract concepts. During the group work, they practiced caring and listening. The suggestions presented through this study are important and pave the way to establishing the advantages and disadvantages of Lego MoretoMath activities as an educational tool for parents, teachers, and developers.
