During 2020, a conservative intervention was carried out in the 4th century archaeological area located inside Palazzo Spada (Rome); in this hypogeic room found during the excavation in 2009 there are precious opus sectile floors with different compositional schemes, a rare example for the richness of decoration, extension and conservation, as well as valuable faux marble wall paintings along the perimeter. The intervention included a preliminary and final survey campaign, removal of deposits, disinfection, cleaning, fixing of erratic marble elements, making the plaster safe; in addition, the detachment and re-alignment of a more compromised portion of the main hall was carried out, a phase that allowed the study of the executive technique to be studied in depth from the substrates to the identification of the marbles used.
