Search

Based on data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at nine center of mass energies from 4.21 to 4.42 GeV, we search for the production of e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{cJ} (J=0, 1, 2). The process e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{c0} is observed for the first time, and the Born cross sections at sqrt[s]=4.23 and 4.26 GeV are measured to be (55.4±6.0±5.9) and (23.7±5.3±3.5)  pb, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The ωχ_{c0} signals at the other seven energies and the e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{c1} and ωχ_{c2} signals are not significant, and the upper limits on the cross sections are determined. By examining the ωχ_{c0} cross section as a function of center of mass energy, we find that it is inconsistent with the line shape of the Y(4260) observed in e^{+}e^{-}→π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ. Assuming the ωχ_{c0} signals come from a single resonance, we extract the mass and width of the resonance to be (4230±8±6)  MeV/c^{2} and (38±12±2)  MeV, respectively, and the statistical significance is more than 9σ.

Using a sample of 2.25 × 108 J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we search for the J/ψ semileptonic weak decay J/ψ → D-s e+νe+ c.c. with a much higher sensitivity than previous searches. We also perform the first search for J/ψ → D∗-s e+νe + c.c. No significant excess of a signal above background is observed in either channel. At the 90% confidence level, the upper limits are determined to be B(J/ψ → D-s e+νe + c.c. )< 1.3 × 10-6 and B(J=ψ → D∗-s e+νe + c.c. ) < 1.8 × 10-6, respectively. Both are consistent with Standard Model predictions.

Using 1.06 × 108ψ (3686) events recorded in e+e-, collisions at √s = 3.686 GeV with the BESIII at the BEPCII collider, we present searches for C-parity violation in J/ψ → γγ and γφ decays via ψ(3686) → J/ψπ+π-. No significant signals are observed in either channel. Upper limits on the branching fractions are set to be B(J/ψ → γγ) < 2.7 × 10-7, and B(J/ψ → γφ>) < 1.4 × 10-6, at the 90% confidence level. The former is one order of magnitude more stringent than the previous upper limit, and the latter represents the first limit on this decay channel.

(Hetero)arene reduction is one of the key avenues for synthesizing related cyclic alkenes and alkanes. While catalytic hydrogenation and Birch reduction are the two broadly utilized approaches for (hetero)arene reduction across academia and industry over the last century, both methods have encountered significant chemoselectivity challenges. We hereby introduce a highly chemoselective quinoline and isoquinoline reduction protocol operating through selective energy transfer (EnT) catalysis, which enables subsequent hydrogen atom transfer (HAT). The design of this protocol bypasses the conventional metric of reduction reaction, that is, the reductive potential, and instead relies on the triplet energies of the chemical moieties and the kinetic barriers of energy and hydrogen atom transfer events. Many reducing labile functional groups, which were incompatible with previous (hetero)arene reduction reactions, are retained in this reaction. TTR (transthyretin) strikes a neuroprotective function in the prevention of amyloid-β (Aβ) deposition in Alzheimer disease (AD). Perturbation of the stringently controlled TARDBP/TDP-43 (TAR DNA binding protein) expression gives rise to cytoplasmic aggregation, characterized by TARDBP proteinopathy affiliated with several neurological disorders, including frontotemporal lobar degeneration with TARDBP pathology (FTLD-TDP) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis/ALS. Proposedly, TTR can maintain cellular proteostasis susceptible to TARDBP aggregates and initiate its removal. Herein, we disclose that TTR upregulated in response to excessive TARDBP causes TARDBP aggregation in FTLD-TDP and co-accumulates with it. Moreover, TTR expression increases with age in FTLD-TDP but shows a downward decline in the elderly. TTR promotes macroautophagy/autophagy activity and facilitates aggregated TARDBP degradation via autophagy. Compellingly, TTR binds to ATF4 and boosts its nuclear import for autophagy upregulation. Therefore, TTR directs autophagy teamwork in bi-directional regulation through enhancing autophagy activity via ATF4 and chaperoning aggregated TARDBP to phagophores for degradation. TAR DNA-binding protein-43 (TDP-43) proteinopathies are accompanied by the pathological hallmark of cytoplasmic inclusions in the neurodegenerative diseases, including frontal temporal lobar degeneration-TDP and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. We found that transthyretin accumulates with TDP-43 cytoplasmic inclusions in frontal temporal lobar degeneration-TDP human patients and transgenic mice, in which transthyretin exhibits dramatic expression decline in elderly mice. The upregulation of transthyretin expression was demonstrated to facilitate the clearance of cytoplasmic TDP-43 inclusions through autophagy, in which transthyretin induces autophagy upregulation via ATF4. Of interest, transthyretin upregulated ATF4 expression and promoted ATF4 nuclear import, presenting physical interaction. Neuronal expression of transthyretin in frontal temporal lobar degeneration-TDP mice restored autophagy function and facilitated early soluble TDP-43 aggregates for autophagosome targeting, ameliorating neuropathology and behavioural deficits. Thus, transthyretin conducted two-way regulations by either inducing autophagy activation or escorting TDP-43 aggregates targeted autophagosomes, suggesting that transthyretin is a potential modulator therapy for neurological disorders caused by TDP-43 proteinopathy., (© The Author(s) 2022. Isoniazid (INH) is a first-line anti-tuberculosis drug which can cause idiosyncratic liver injury, while the underlying mechanisms need to be further elucidated. In this study, we explored the time series gene expression profiling of a hepatocyte cell line under isoniazid treatment. Through cluster analysis and enrichment analysis of differentially expressed genes, we revealed a total of 6 gene clusters and a series of pathways related to hepatotoxicity, and 13 key candidate genes were identified according to the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis and maSigPro analysis. These findings lay a foundation for understanding the mechanisms of isoniazid -induced liver toxicity and provide new target genes for the monitoring and treatment of INH-induced hepatotoxicity in the future.

To overcome the diffraction limit and resolve target structures in greater detail, far-field super-resolution techniques such as stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy (STORM) have been developed, and different STORM algorithms have been developed to deal with the various problems that arise. In particular, the effect of the local structure is an important issue. For objects with closely correlated distributions, simple Gaussian-based localization algorithms often used in STORM imaging misinterpret overlapping point spread functions (PSFs) as one, which limits the ability of super-resolution imaging to resolve nanoscale local structures and leads to inaccurate length measurements. The STORM super-resolution images of biological specimens from the cluster-forming proteins in the nervous system were reconstructed for localization-based analysis. Generally, the localization of each fluorophore was determined by two-dimensional Gaussian function fitting. Further, the physical shape of the cluster structure information was incorporated into the size parameter of the localization structure analysis in order to generate structure-based fitting algorithms. In the present study, we proposed a novel, structure-based, super-resolution image analysis method: structure-based analysis (SBA), which combines a structural function and a super-resolution localization algorithm. Using SBA, we estimated the size of fluorescent beads, inclusion proteins, and subtle synaptic structures in both wide-field and STORM images. The results show that SBA has a comparable and often superior performance to the commonly used full width at half maximum (FWHM) parameter. We demonstrated that SBA is able to estimate molecular cluster sizes in far-field super-resolution STORM images, and that SBA was comparable and often superior to FWHM. We also certified that SBA provides size estimations that corroborate previously published electron microscopy data.

Objective: Ischemic stroke is an important cause of death and disability worldwide. Early reperfusion by thrombolysis or thrombectomy has improved the outcome of acute ischemic stroke. However, the therapeutic window for reperfusion therapy is narrow, and adjuvant therapy for neuroprotection is demanded. Electrical stimulation (ES) has been reported to be neuroprotective in many neurological diseases. In this study, the neuroprotective effect of early somatosensory cortical ES in the acute stage of ischemia/reperfusion injury was evaluated. Methods: In this study, the rat model of transient middle cerebral artery occlusion was used to explore the neuroprotective effect and underlying mechanisms of direct primary somatosensory (S1) cortex ES with an electric current of 20 Hz, 2 ms biphasic pulse, 100 μA for 30 min, starting at 30 min after reperfusion. Results: These results showed that S1 cortical ES after reperfusion decreased infarction volume and improved functional outcome. The number of activated microglia, astrocytes, and cleaved caspase-3 positive neurons after ischemia/reperfusion injury were reduced, demonstrating that S1 cortical ES alleviates inflammation and apoptosis. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway were upregulated in the penumbra area, suggesting that BDNF/TrkB signals and their downstream PI3K/Akt signaling pathway play roles in ES-related neuroprotection. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that somatosensory cortical ES soon after reperfusion can attenuate ischemia/reperfusion injury and is a promising adjuvant therapy for thrombolytic treatment after acute ischemic stroke. It is evident that the plasma membrane NADPH oxidases (NOXs) play an important role in the generation of superoxide radicals (O 2 -• ) in plants during defense responses. This study was to clarify activation of NOXs in oxidative damage in Oryza sativa during SCN - exposure, particularly in the roles of jasmonic acid (JA) and hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) on transcriptional and enzymatic changes of NOXs. Results indicated that enzymatic activity of NOXs in both roots and shoots was significantly enhanced during SCN - exposure, whereas the application of JA and H 2 S donor (NaHS) significantly repressed NOXs activity in SCN-treated rice seedlings. Similarly, ROS analysis showed that SCN - exposure elevated the content of O 2 -• , hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in rice tissues significantly, whereas decreases in O 2 -• and H 2 O 2 were detected in roots and shoots of SCN-treated rice seedlings due to application of JA and NaHS. PCR analysis revealed different expression patterns of 7 plasma membrane-localized NOX genes in rice roots and shoots against SCN - exposure, suggesting that various isogenes of NOXs might regulate and determine activity of NOXs in rice organs. In conclusion, SCN - exposure was able to trigger activation of NOXs effectively, and led to oxidative damage and lipid peroxidation; the effects of JA and NaHS on inactivation of NOXs was evident and tissue specific, which in turn modulated ROS accumulation in rice plants., (© 2020. Objective: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common type of tachycardia. The major injury caused by AF is a systemic embolism. Although AF therapies have evolved substantially, the success rate of sinus rhythm maintenance is relatively low. The reason is the incomplete understanding of the AF mechanisms., Materials and Methods: A Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) dataset (GSE79768) was downloaded. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified by bioinformatic analysis. Enriched terms and pathways were identified by gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses. A protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed to determine regulatory genes. CytoHubba and the Molecular Complex Detection (MCODE) algorithm were used to identify potential hub genes and important modules. The Predicting Associated Transcription Factors From Annotated Affinities (PASTAA) method was used to predict transcription factors (TFs)., Results: Two hundred thirty-five upregulated DEGs and seventy-seven downregulated DEGs were identified. In the GO biological process, cellular component, and molecular function analyses, positive regulation of cell migration, anchoring junctions, and cell adhesion molecule binding were enriched significantly. The Hippo signalling pathway was the most significantly enriched pathway. In the PPI network analysis, we found that Class A/1 (rhodopsin-like receptors) may be the critical module. Ten hub genes were extracted, including 6 upregulated genes and 4 downregulated genes. CXCR2, TLR4, and CXCR4 may play critical roles in AF. In the TF prediction, we found that Irf-1 may be implicated in AF., Conclusions: We found that the CXCR4, TLR4, CXCR2 genes, the Hippo signalling pathway and the class A/1 (rhodopsin-like receptors) module may play critical roles in AF occurrence and maintenance, which may provide novel targets for AF treatment.

Background: Local protein synthesis and mRNA metabolism mediated by mRNP granules in the dendrites and the postsynaptic compartment is essential for synaptic remodeling and plasticity in neuronal cells. Dysregulation of these processes caused by TDP-43 proteinopathy leads to neurodegenerative diseases, such as frontotemporal lobar degeneration and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Methods: Using biochemical analysis and imaging techniques, including super-resolution microscopy, we provide evidence, for the first time, for the postsynaptic localization of TDP-43 in mammalian synapses and we show that TDP-43 is a component of neuronal mRNP granules. Results: With activity stimulation and various molecular approaches, we further demonstrate activity-dependent mRNP granule dynamics involving disassembly of mRNP granules, release of mRNAs, activation of local protein translation, and the impairment of granule disassembly in cellular, animal and human models of TDP-43 proteinopathy. FLNC-related myofibrillar myopathy could manifest as autosomal dominant late-onset slowly progressive proximal muscle weakness; involvements of cardiac and/or respiratory functions are common. We describe 34 patients in nine families of FLNC-related myofibrillar myopathy in Hong Kong ethnic Chinese diagnosed over the last 12 years, in whom the same pathogenic variant c.8129G>A (p.Trp2710*) was detected. Twenty-six patients were symptomatic when diagnosed; four patients died of pneumonia and/or respiratory failure. Abnormal amorphous material or granulofilamentous masses were detected in half of the cases, with mitochondrial abnormalities noted in two-thirds. We also show by haplotype analysis the founder effect associated with this Hong Kong variant, which might have occurred 42 to 71 generations ago or around Tang and Song dynasties, and underlain a higher incidence of myofibrillar myopathy among Hong Kong Chinese. The late-onset nature and slowly progressive course of the highly penetrant condition could have significant impact on the family members, and an early diagnosis could benefit the whole family. Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common progressive cardiac arrhythmia and is often associated with rapid contraction in both atria and ventricles. The role of atrial energy and metabolic homeostasis in AF progression is under-investigated., Objectives: To determine the remodeling of energy metabolism during persistent AF and the effect of eplerenone (EPL), an aldosterone inhibitor, on metabolic homeostasis., Methods: A nonsustained atrial pacing sheep model was developed to simulate the progression of AF from paroxysmal to persistent. Metabolomic and proteomic analyses at termination of the experiment were used to analyze atrial tissues obtained from sheep in sham, sugar pill (SP) and EPL-treated groups., Results: Proteomic analysis indicated that compared to the sham group, in SP group, fatty acid (FA) synthesis, FA oxidation, tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle processes and amino acids (AAs) transport and metabolism were reduced, while glycolytic processes were increased. In metabolomic analysis, the levels of intermediate metabolites of the glycolytic pathways, including 2-phosphoglyceric acid (2 PG), 1,3-bisphosphoglyceric acid (1,3 PG), and pyruvate, HBP (uridine diphosphate-N-acetylglucosamine, UDP-GlcNAc), TCA (citrate) and AAs were greater while the levels of the majority of lipid classes, including phosphatidic acid (PA), phosphatidylcholine (PC), phosphatidylglycerol (PG), glycerophosphoglycerophosphates (PGP), glycerophosphoinositols (PI) and glycerophosphoserines (PS), were decreased in the atria of SP group than in those of sham group. EPL-pretreatment decreased the expression of glut4 and increased the content of acylcarnitines and lipids, such as lyso phospholipids, phospholipids and neutral lipids., Conclusion: In the metabolic remodeling during AF, glucose and lipid metabolism were up- and down-regulated, respectively, to sustain TCA cycle anaplerosis. Aims: The present animal model of tumor neovascularization most often used by researchers is zebrafish. For studies on human breast cancer cell neovascularization, a new animal model was established to enable a more convenient study of tumor neovascularization., Main Methods: A sodium alginate-gelatin blend gel system was used to design the new animal model. The model was established using rabbit corneal pouch implantation. Then, the animal model was validated by human breast cancer cell lines MCF-7-Kindlin-2 and MCF-7-CMV., Key Findings: The experiment intuitively observed the relationship between tumor and neovascularization, and demonstrated the advantages of this animal model in the study of tumor neovascularization., Significance: The use of sodium alginate-gelatin blends to establish tumor neovascularization in a rabbit corneal pouch is a novel and ideal method for the study of neovascularization. Objective: Tumor was reported to correlate with inflammation and the host's inflammatory response to tumor has been shown to independently predict the outcome. Many measures of the systemic inflammatory response have been studied in recent years. In the present study the full blood count (leukocyte, neutrophil, lymphocyte) of colorectal cancers (CRCs) adenomatous polyps, and healthy people were collected, and the difference of ratios was studied., Patients and Methods: A total of 752 individuals (242 colorectal cancers, 248 adenomatous polyps, and 262 healthy people) were randomized enrolled in the present study. The full blood counts (leukocyte, neutrophil, and lymphocyte) of each individual were collected and the NLRs were calculated., Results: The leukocyte count, neutrophil ratio and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio were the highest in colorectal cancer group, the second in adenomatous polyp group, and the lowest in healthy control (p < 0.001). The lymphocyte ratio was in the reverse order (p < 0.001). The ROC curve analysis showed that sensitivity and specificity levels of NLR were 66.9% and 77.6% for CRCs, 36.7% and 80.9% for adenomatous polyp. The leukocyte count was higher in the advanced adenomatous polyp compared with low-risk group (p = 0.042). Further analyses of the diagnostic value of NLR are warranted in the future., Conclusions: Difference of leukocyte count, neutrophil ratio and NLR may provide available information in the differential diagnosis of CRC, adenomatous polyp and healthy people.

Objective: Late-onset Pompe disease (LOPD) is a lysosomal storage disease resulted from deficiency of the enzyme acid α-glucosidase. Patients usually develop a limb-girdle pattern of myopathy and respiratory impairment, and enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) is the only specific treatment available. Recently, LOPD has been associated with low bone mineral density (BMD), but the effect of ERT on BMD is inconclusive. In this report we described our early observations on the change of BMD after ERT in Chinese LOPD patients., Results: We studied four Chinese LOPD patients with different severities of myopathy. All were underweight, and three had osteoporosis at baseline. We found significant weight gain in three patients after ERT and all four patients showed improvement in BMD. The biggest improvement, 84.4% increase in BMD, was seen in a lady with the most prominent weight recovery. Our results suggest that ERT improves BMD in Chinese LOPD and weight gain could be a major contributor to this effect.

Cardiac arrhythmias associated with intracellular calcium inhomeostasis are refractory to antiarrhythmic therapy. We hypothesized that late sodium current (I Na ) contributed to the calcium-related arrhythmias. Monophasic action potential duration at 90% completion of repolarization (MAPD 90 ) was significantly increased and ventricular arrhythmias were observed in hearts with increased intracellular calcium concentration ([Ca 2+ ] i ) by using Bay K 8644, and the increase became greater in hearts treated with a combination of ATX-II and Bay K 8644 compared to Bay K 8644 alone. The prolongations caused by Bay K 8644 and frequent episodes of ventricular tachycardias, both in absence and presence of ATX-II, were significantly attenuated or abolished by late I Na inhibitors TTX and eleclazine. In rabbit ventricular myocytes, Bay K 8644 increased I CaL density, calcium transient and myocyte contraction. TTX and eleclazine decreased the amplitude of late I Na , the reverse use dependence of MAPD 90 at slower heart rate, and attenuated the increase of intracellular calcium transient and myocyte contraction. TTX diminished the phosphorylation of CaMKII-δ and Na v 1.5 in hearts treated with Bay K 8644 and ATX-II. In conclusion, late I Na contributes to ventricular arrhythmias and its inhibition is plausible to treat arrhythmias in hearts with increased [Ca 2+ ] i .

Introduction: Coagulopathy-associated intracerebral haemorrhage has become increasingly common because of the rising demand in the ageing population for anticoagulation for atrial fibrillation. This study compared the clinical features and neurological outcomes of intracerebral haemorrhage in patients with atrial fibrillation who were prescribed warfarin with those who were not., Methods: This was a retrospective matched case series of patients with intracerebral haemorrhage from three tertiary hospitals in Hong Kong from 1 January 2006 to 31 December 2011. Patients who developed intracerebral haemorrhage and who were prescribed warfarin for atrial fibrillation (ICH-W group) were compared with those with intracerebral haemorrhage and not prescribed warfarin (ICH-C group); they were matched for age and gender in 1:1 ratio. Clinical features and neurological outcomes were compared, and the impact of coagulopathy on haematoma size was also studied., Results: We identified 114 patients in the ICH-W group with a mean age of 75 years. Both ICH-W and ICH-C groups had a median intracerebral haemorrhage score of 2. There was a non-statistically significant trend of higher intracerebral haemorrhage volume in the ICH-W group (12.9 mL vs 10.5 mL). The median modified Rankin Scale and the proportion with good recovery (modified Rankin Scale score ≤3) at 6 months were comparable. Nonetheless, ICH-W patients had higher hospital mortality (51.8% vs 36.0%; P=0.02) and 6-month mortality (60.5% vs 43.0%; P=0.01) than ICH-C patients. Overall, 60% of ICH-W patients had their admission international normalised ratio within the therapeutic range during intracerebral haemorrhage, and 14% had a subtherapeutic admission international normalised ratio. International normalised ratio at admission was not associated with intracerebral haemorrhage volume or neurological outcome., Conclusion: Warfarin-associated intracerebral haemorrhage in patients with atrial fibrillation carried a higher stroke mortality than the non-warfarinised patients.

Objective To observe the curative effect of Zhiyang Pingfu Lotion (ZPL) for its ex- ternal application in treatment of epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors (EGFRIs)-related acneiform rash, cutaneous pruritus , xerosis cutis , and nail changes , as well as to evaluate its safety and patients' satisfaction. Methods Recruited were 201 patients with confirmed pathological diagnosis, who had acne- iform rash after using EGFRIs. They were assigned to the treatment group (131 cases) and the control group (70 cases) by random digit table. Patients in the treatment group were externally applied with self- formulated ZPL based on principles of Western medical standards, while those in the control group were externally applied with blank drugs plus conventional Western medicine standard. The therapeutic course for all was 14 days. Changes in rash degree, cutaneous pruritus, xerosis cutis, and nails were observed in both groups before and after treatment. Blood routines as well as liver and kidney function tests were performed in both groups before and after treatment. Follow-up visit was also conducted during progression-free survival (PFS). Results A total of 185 patients finished this clinical trial. Ten dropped out in the treatment group and 6 in the control group. The effective rates of rash degree, cutaneous pruritus, xerosis cutis, and nail changes were 90.1 % (109/121 ), 57.9% (70/121 ), 57. 9% (70/121 ), and 16. 5% (20/121) in the treatment group, respectively. They were 14. 1% (9/64), 6. 3% (4/64), 1. 6% (1164), and 0 (0/64) in the control group, respectively. Significant difference existed in all these indices between the two groups (X² = 105. 1022, 51. 3312, 59. 1777; P <0. 05). No serious drug-related adverse events occurred during clinical observation, with relatively better safety. The satisfaction was 95. 40% (125/131) in the treatment group and 57. 1 % (40/70) in the control group. No statistical difference in PFS was observed between the two groups (X² = 2. 006, P > 0. 05). Conclusions ZPL had significantly curative effect in treatment of EGFRIs-related skin adverse reactions, with no obvious adverse reactions. Howev- er, more randomized control trials are needed to verify these findings.

Lysophagy belongs to one of the many pathways cells activate in response to lysosomal damage. Damaged lysosomes attract glycan-binding galectins, become ubiquitinated, and are later on targeted for engulfment and degradation through lysophagy. Many triggers that are known to cause lysosomal membrane permeabilization have all been shown to induce lysophagy and can therefore be used to construct platforms for further molecular-level characterization of this process. In this chapter, we describe experimental parameters for triggering lysophagy through combined use of lysosome-specific dyes and light illumination. Within single cells, this optogenetic scheme allows easy manipulation on the amount of lysosomes to be impaired, the degree of damage desired, as well as when and where this should happen. On the other hand it can also be used to target all lysosomes within the entire cell population of a culture, allowing screening or bulk biochemical analyses to be carried out. Late onset Pompe disease is a rare inherited metabolic disease with diverse clinical manifestation. However, there is a lack of local data in Hong Kong. We aimed at performing an in-depth review of natural history of all patients in Hong Kong. Eleven patients were diagnosed to have the disease in Hong Kong from 2000 to 2013. All case records were reviewed and face-to-face interviews were conducted to complete a questionnaire regarding the clinical manifestation and diagnosis of the disease. The estimated birth incidence was 1/300,000. The age of diagnosis ranged from 9 to 44 years; all patients were ethnic Chinese. The median ages of first symptoms and first medical attention were 20.5(6-44) and 29(9-44) years respectively. The most common initial complaint was decreased exercise tolerance. Two patients' first complaint was difficulty with getting up from lying position and failure to perform sit up. The mean time from first medical attention to diagnosis was 1.3 years but one patient was diagnosed 8 years later. Half of the patients sought medical attention due to progressive shortness of breath and all of them developed type 2 respiratory failure requiring ventilator support during the first admission. Two patients became chair-bound and seven patients required assisted ventilation. Previous work on the subclones within Escherichia coli ST131 predominantly involved isolates from Western countries. This study assessed the prevalence and antimicrobial resistance attributed to this clonal group. A total of 340 consecutive, non-duplicated urinary E. coli isolates originating from four clinical laboratories in Hong Kong in 2013 were tested. ST131 prevalence among the total isolates was 18.5 % (63/340) and was higher among inpatient isolates (23.0 %) than outpatient isolates (11.8 %, P<0.001), and higher among isolates from patients aged ≥65 years than from patients aged 18-50 years and 51-64 years (25.4 vs 3.4 and 4.0 %, respectively, P<0.001). Of the 63 ST131 isolates, 43 (68.3 %) isolates belonged to the H30 subclone, whereas the remaining isolates belonged to H41 (n = 17), H54 (n = 2) and H22 (n = 1). All H30 isolates were ciprofloxacin-resistant, of which 18.6 % (8/43) belonged to the H30-Rx subclone. Twenty-six (41.3 %) ST131 isolates were ESBL-producers, of which 19 had blaCTX-M-14 (12 non-H30-Rx, two H30-Rx and five H41), six had blaCTX-M-15 (five non-H30-Rx and one H30-Rx) and one was blaCTX-M-negative (H30). In conclusion, ST131 accounts for a large share of the antimicrobial-resistant E. coli isolates from geriatric patients. Using data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider at center-of-mass energies of sqrt[s]=4.23, 4.26, and 4.36 GeV, we observe e(+)e(-)→π(0)π(0)hc for the first time. The Born cross sections are measured and found to be about half of those of e(+)e(-)→π(+)π(-)hc within less than 2σ. In the π(0)hc mass spectrum, a structure at 4.02  GeV/c(2) is found. It is most likely to be the neutral isospin partner of the Zc(4020)(±) observed in the process of e(+)e(-)→π(+)π(-)hc being found. A fit to the π(0)hc invariant mass spectrum, with the width of the Zc(4020)(0) fixed to that of its charged isospin partner and possible interferences with non-Zc(4020)(0) amplitudes neglected, gives a mass of (4023.9±2.2±3.8)  MeV/c(2) for the Zc(4020)(0), where the first error is statistical and the second systematic.
