9. Tetraphenylanthraquinone and Dihydroxybenzene-Tethered Conjugated Microporous Polymer for Enhanced CO2Uptake and Supercapacitive Energy Storage

Abstract

Conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) feature extended excellent porosity properties and fully conjugated electronic systems, making them highly effective for several uses, including photocatalysis, dye adsorption, CO2capture, supercapacitors, and so on. These polymers are known for their high specific surface area and adjustable porosity. To synthesize DHTP-CMPs (specifically TPE-DHTP CMP and Anthra-DHTP CMP) with abundant nitrogen (N) and oxygen (O) adsorption sites and spherical structures, we employed a straightforward Schiff-base [4 + 2] condensation reaction. This involved using 2,5-dihydroxyterephthalaldehyde (DHTP-2CHO) as the primary building block and phenolic OH group source, along with two distinct structures: 4,4′,4″,4”’-(ethene-1,1,2,2-tetrayl)tetraaniline (TPE-4NH2) and 4,4′,4″,4”’-(anthracene-9,10-diylidenebis(methanediylylidene))tetraaniline (Anthra-4Ph-4NH2). The synthesized Anthra-DHTP CMP had a remarkable BET surface area (BETSA) of 431 m2g–1. Additionally, it exhibited outstanding thermal stability, as shown by a Td10of 505 °C. Furthermore, for practical implementation, the Anthra-DHTP CMP demonstrates a significant capacity for capturing CO2, measuring 1.85 mmol g–1at a temperature of 273 K and 1 bar. In a three-electrode test, the Anthra-DHTP CMP has a remarkable specific capacitance of 121 F g–1at 0.5 A g–1. Furthermore, even after undergoing 5000 cycles, it maintains a capacitance retention rate of 79%. Due to their outstanding pore characteristics, abundant N and O, and conjugation properties, this Anthtra-DHTP CMP holds significant potential for CO2capture and supercapacitor applications. This work will pave the way for the development of materials based on DHTP-CMPs and their postmodification with additional groups, facilitating their use in photocatalysis, photodegradation, lithium battery applications, and so on.

Abstract

Extracellular HSP90α (eHSP90α) is a promoter of tumor development and malignant progression. Patients with malignancies, including pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), have generally shown 5~10-fold increases in serum/plasma eHSP90α levels. In this study, we developed a humanized antibody HH01 to target eHSP90α and evaluated its anticancer efficacy. HH01, with novel complementarity-determining regions, exhibits high binding affinity toward HSP90α. It recognizes HSP90α epitope sites 235AEEKEDKEEE244 and 251ESEDKPEIED260, with critical amino acid residues E237, E239, D240, K241, E253, and K255. HH01 effectively suppressed eHSP90α-induced invasive and spheroid-forming activities of colorectal cancer and PDAC cell lines by blocking eHSP90α's ligation with the cell-surface receptor CD91. In mouse models, HH01 potently inhibited the tumor growth of PDAC cell grafts/xenografts promoted by endothelial-mesenchymal transition-derived cancer-associated fibroblasts while also reducing serum eHSP90α levels, reflecting its anticancer efficacy. HH01 also modulated tumor immunity by reducing M2 macrophages and reinvigorating immune T-cells. Additionally, HH01 showed low aggregation propensity, high water solubility, and a half-life time of >18 days in mouse blood. It was not cytotoxic to retinal pigmented epithelial cells and showed no obvious toxicity in mouse organs. Abstract

* Human papillomavirus (HPV)-related carcinoma with adenoid cystic-like features is a rare, recently recognized entity restricted to the sinonasal tract. By definition, it is associated with high-risk HPV infection, particularly with HPV type 33. In most cases, tumors are composed of dual cell populations, including predominant basaloid myoepithelial cells and usually inconspicuous ductal cells. Solid components with focal cribriform or tubular patterns, abrupt keratinization within tumor nests, and squamous dysplasia of the surface epithelium are characteristics of HPV-related carcinoma with adenoid cystic-like features. The immunohistochemistry of p16 followed by high-risk HPV testing may help in the differential diagnosis. Recent studies have demonstrated that the morphologic features of this entity are more diverse than initially believed. Surgical resection is the prime alternative for treatment.
