Aim Methodology Results Conclusions To assess Spanish dentists' management preferences for deep caries removal and exposed pulps in permanent teeth.A web‐based open and anonymous survey was distributed by social media and a specific website for this project amongst dentists practicing in Spain. The questionnaire comprised 40 questions, divided into five sections: (1) demographic data and professional activity; (2) carious tissue removal; (3) decision‐making regarding pulp exposure; (4) direct pulp capping and (5) pulpotomy procedures in permanent teeth. Results were descriptively analysed. Logistic regression (95% CI) analyses and X2 tests were carried out.A total of 538 responses were received. Half the respondents (53.7%) preferred to perform complete caries excavation for shallow and moderate carious dentin lesions, and selective excavation to firm dentin for deep lesions (57.8%). Selective removal to soft dentin and stepwise removal were much less indicated (15.4% and 10.9%, respectively). Exposed pulps in asymptomatic teeth were treated by direct pulp capping (over 80%), decreasing in the presence of reversible pulpitis symptoms (57.1%). If irreversible pulpitis was diagnosed, a pulpectomy would be performed by 53.5% and 89.9% of the respondents in, respectively, immature and mature teeth. Pulpotomy was performed routinely only by 26.4% of the clinicians. Patients' attitudes and priorities were the most relevant criteria when performing direct pulp capping and pulpotomy, together with the history of pain and the presence of bleeding. Regarding the clinical procedure, dry cotton was preferred to obtain haemostasis and Biodentine was the material of election.Caries removal preferences and management of pulp exposure by dentists practicing in Spain deviated from vital pulp treatment guidelines, mainly regarding indications and case selection. Pulp exposure was managed by direct pulp capping in asymptomatic cases, whilst immature permanent molars favoured the indication of pulpotomy when pulpitis was diagnosed. Most clinicians used hydraulic calcium silicate cement, specifically Biodentine, to perform vital pulp treatments. Albendazole (ABZ) is a methylcarbamate benzimidazole anthelmintic used to control gastrointestinal parasites in several animal species and humans. The type of diet has been identified as a major determinant for ABZ pharmacokinetics in different animal species and humans. The work described here assesses the pattern of the absorption and the systemic availability of ABZ and its metabolites after its oral administration to pigs under different feed management plans. Eighteen pigs (5 months old, local ecotype breeds) were distributed into three experimental groups. In the fasting group, the animals fasted for 8 h prior to treatment. In the pellet + oil and pellet groups, the animals were fed ad libitum with a commercial pelleted-based diet with or without the addition of soya oil. An ABZ suspension was orally administered at 10 mg/kg. Blood samples were taken over the 48 h post-treatment. The plasma samples were analyzed by HPLC. Under the described experimental conditions, the ingestion of the pellet-based diet with or without the soya oil before ABZ treatment did not significantly (p < 0.05) modify the plasma disposition kinetics of the ABZ sulfoxide (ABZSO, the main ABZ metabolite) compared to that observed in the fasting pigs. Both ABZ metabolites (ABZSO and ABZ sulphone) reached similar peak concentrations and systemic exposures in all the experimental groups regardless of the feeding management. However, the addition of oil to the pelleted food enhanced the pattern of ABZ absorption, which was reflected in the higher (p < 0.05) concentration profiles of the active ABZSO metabolite measured between 12 and 48 h post-treatment compared to the pigs fed with the pelleted food alone. Although this effect may not be therapeutically relevant after ABZ administration as a single oral dose, the overall impact of the type and feeding conditions when ABZ is supplemented with food for several days should be cautiously evaluated.

Nematophagous fungi are a biological control tool used against gastrointestinal nematodes in livestock. These fungi prey on free-living larvae in faeces and could be affected by active drugs excreted post-treatment. This study aimed to determine in vitro and under environmental conditions the effect of the following anthelmintics on the fungus Duddingtonia flagrans: ivermectin, levamisole, albendazole, fenbendazole and ricobendazole. The in vitro effect of anthelmintics on fungal growth and predatory capacity was assessed in corn meal agar and coprocultures, respectively. Ivermectin (1, 2 and 10 ppm), fenbendazole (0.027, 0.054 and 1 ppm) and albendazole (1 ppm) significantly affected fungal development. The fungal efficacy against L3 was high in the control and levamisole coprocultures but decreased significantly in the presence of albendazole, fenbendazole, ricobendazole and ivermectin. The impact of levamisole on D. flagrans was further assessed under environmental conditions in autumn and winter; the fungal efficacy measured in faecal pats and the surrounding herbage was not affected by levamisole at any time. This study shows that using albendazole, fenbendazole, ricobendazole or ivermectin may compromise fungal activity, as these drugs affect the free-living stages of nematodes in faeces, but levamisole can be safely considered in parasite control strategies involving D. flagrans and anthelmintic treatments. Objective: To evaluate the penetration of hydrogen peroxide (HP) into the pulp chamber and the color change of different bleaching varnishes in low concentrations used for at‐home bleaching. Materials and Methods: Ninety healthy premolars were used, randomly distributed into nine groups (n = 10) according to bleaching varnish (PL, PolaLuminate; VS, VivaStyle Paint On Plus; CA, Cavex Bite&White whitening pen and; AW AlignerWhite) and time (10 and 30 min), and a control group (no bleaching). The penetration of HP was evaluated by UV–Vis spectroscopy. To evaluate the color change (ΔEab, ΔE00, ΔWID) a digital spectrophotometer was used (α = 0.05). Results: The AW group in 10 min and the control group showed similar and lower HP penetration in the pulp chamber when compared to the other groups (p = 0.003). Increasing the application time to 30 minutes elevated the amount of HP inside the pulp chamber for all groups (p = 0.003), except for PL (p > 0.05). When applied for 30 min all bleaching varnishes showed higher color change (ΔWID) when compared to 10 min (p = 0.04). Conclusions: For all bleaching varnishes evaluated, PolaLuminate applied for 30 min showed lower penetration into the pulp chamber and higher bleaching effects. Purpose: The objective was to measure the implant-prosthodontic discrepancy of complete-arch implant-supported frameworks made of cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) fabricated using selective laser melting (SLM) additive manufacturing technologies. Materials and Methods: A completely edentulous maxillary cast with seven implant replicas was obtained. Co-Cr SLM frameworks (n = 9) from three different providers (SLM-1, SLM-2, SLM-3) were manufactured. A coordinate measuring machine was selected to measure the implant-prosthodontic discrepancy (μm) on the x-, y-, and z-axes and the 3D gap (3D = √x2 + y2 + z2 where implants were considered as the statistical unit (n = 7). One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Student-Newman- Keuls, and Tukey tests were used to analyze the data (α = .05). Results: The mean 3D implant-prosthodontic discrepancy (μm) was higher for SLM-1 (73.77 ± 27.94) than for SLM-2 (47.54 ± 22.63) and SLM- 3 (47.26 ± 22.57). At the x-axis, SLM-2 showed a significantly smaller gap (16.21 ± 9.6) than SLM-3 (32.92 ± 27.77) and SLM-1 (34.77 ± 21.85). At the y-axis, however, SLM-3 presented a significantly smaller gap (27.97 ± 9.49) than SLM-2 (38.84 ± 27.82) and SLM-1 (54.35 ± 29.89). Similarly, at the z-axis, SLM-3 (4.01 ± 2.29) showed the least gap, followed by SLM-2 (9.09 ± 7.63), which was significantly smaller than that of SLM-1 (16.14 ± 21.09). Conclusion: The three SLM additive manufacturing technologies tested showed implant-prosthodontic discrepancies ranging from 4.01 to 54.35 μm, which could be considered in the clinically acceptable range.
