Abstract

Currently, numerous researchers have focused their attention on the use of natural products from plants and microorganisms, or compounds derived from these organisms to protect crops from various diseases, thus reduce the negative effects on human health and environmental safety. Fungal diseases cause a considerable loss of crop yields in agricultural industries worldwide. Fusarium oxysporum comprises a multitude of formae speciales that cause vascular wilt diseases of economically important crops. This review presents an overview of researches realized on natural products tested against Fusarium oxysporum formae speciales phytopathogens for the period (2017-2020). This review aims to collect major research works of the antifungal compounds against these fungi and up-dates information on their developments and approaches that have been rapidly taking place in recent years so that further novel researches can be envisaged. Discussion of these studies by analyzing different sources for antifusariosis treatment, evaluation of testing methods, and information on their advantages and limitations and to determine those with real efficacy. Despite the important number of natural products with remarkable in vitro efficiency, the limiting point is their in vivo application for soil microorganisms (in this case: Fusarium oxysporum). Therefore, more advanced researches are needed to solve this problem.

7. Bioguided Fractionation of Citrullus colocynthisExtracts and Antifungal Activity Against Fusarium oxysporumf.sp.albedinis

Abstract

Background: In the present study, a bioguided fractionation was realized to isolate bioactive compounds on Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. albedinis (Foa) from Citrullus colocynthis L. Foa is the causal agent of “ Bayoud”, a lethal disease of date palm. Methods: Extracts of Citrullus colocynthis fruits peels using four solvents (n-hexane, dichloromethane, ethanol, chloroform) were tested for antifungal effect on Foa with radial growth technique. The ethanolic extract was selected for fractionation to isolate bioactive compounds (Percentage of Growth Reduction “PGR”: 63.6%). The fractionation was realized using six solvents (hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, methanol, butanol, water). Through fractionation, methanolic and butanolic fractions (PGR= 57.6% and 69.7%, respectively) had been chosen for bioactive compounds isolation. Results: Chromatographic and spectroscopic analyses had led to isolation of six compounds deduced as: (C1): 2-O-β-D-glucopyranosylcucurbitacin E; (C2): 2-(Nonan-8-one)-(1H)-4-quinolone; (C3): 2- (Nonan-8-one) 4-methoxy-quinoline, (C4): Isosaponarin; (C5): Isovitexin; (C6): Isoorientin 3’-Omethyl ether. The isolated compounds had been tested for antifungal effect. The compound (C1) represents the best effect among isolated compounds (PGR, up to 54.5%). Conclusion: The efficiency of (C1) reflects its opportunity to be used for the development of efficient treatment against Bayoud disease.

Abstract

Summary: The present study reports a methodology for the synthesis of symmetrical and unsymmetrical thiourea derivatives 1-9, which have been prepared in good overall yields from condensation reactions between phenylisothiocyanate and different primary amines. The structures of all products were confirmed by the spectroscopic analysis (UV, IR, and NMR). T hese derivatives were tested for anticoagulant activity using PT and APTT reagents, and those reagents are considered also a controller, the results showed that the theN-aryl thiourea derivatives have very high anticoagulant activity. Theoretical calculations based on DFT/B3LYP method have been performed in order to get insights into the molecular geometry and chemical reactivity of the studied compounds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
