Abstract

Numerical simulations of the inflationary dynamics are presented here for a single canonical scalar field minimally coupled to gravity. We spell out the basic equations governing the inflationary dynamics in terms of cosmic time $t$ and define a set of dimensionless variables convenient for numerical analysis. We then provide a link to our simple numerical Python code on GitHub that can be used to simulate the background dynamics as well as the evolution of linear perturbations during inflation. The code computes both scalar and tensor power spectra for a given inflaton potential $V(\phi)$. We discuss a concrete algorithm to use the code for various purposes, especially for computing the enhanced scalar power spectrum in the context of Primordial Black Holes and scalar-induced Gravitational Waves. We also compare the efficiency of different variables used in the literature to compute the scalar fluctuations. Abstract

Background: Pea (Pisum sativum L.) is one of the most important legume grown all over the world with its varied uses as vegetables and other processed products. Its production and productivity in recent times have witnessed a diminishing graph due to numerous biotic and abiotic stresses. With unexploited use of synthetics in legume crops number of nodule formation have reduced to lowest levels. VAM (Vesicular Arbuscular Mycorrhiza) and PSB (Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria) inoculation in soil have been observed in enhancing number of nodules, levels of NPK uptake and yield in pea. Methods: Considering the importance of above facts and experiment was laid in 2022 with RBD with three replications containing 7 treatments viz. T1 (Control), T2 (75% RDF + 25% PSB), T3 (50% RDF + 50% PSB), T4 (75% RDF + 25% VAM), T5 (50% RDF + 50% VAM), T6 (75% RDF + 12.5% VAM + 12.5% PSB) and T7 (50% RDF + 25% VAM + 25% PSB). Result: Investigations indicated that the treatment T7 (50% RDF + 25 % VAM + 25% PSB) showed significantly high growth, yield and quality like plant height (113.90 cm), number of leaves (87.09), number of branches (20.2), number of nodules (90.56), numbers of pod/plant (19.1), pod length (8.97 cm), number of seeds per pod (8.23), green pod yield/plot (4.80 kg), green pod yield/ha (80.12 q) compared to control. Hence, T7 (50% RDF + 25% VAM + 25% PSB) evidently exhibited a conglomeration of bio nutrient uptake enhancers resulting in maximum yield and quality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Introduction: Dapsone forms the backbone of multi-drug therapy (MDT) in leprosy and many other dermatological disorders. Haemolysis is its common side effect which often necessitates drug stoppage. Currently, wide variation in data of haemolysis with dapsone exists in literature ranging from 24.7% to 83% and none of the studies point towards the timing of onset of haemolysis/timing of maximal haemolysis which is important in therapeutic decision making regarding continuing or stopping the drug. This study aimed to answer such unanswered questions. Objectives: Primary: To estimate the fall in haemoglobin (Hb) levels after administering MDT for 3 months in patients with leprosy. Secondary: To determine factors associated with Hb change -- age, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) status, pole of leprosy and duration of MDT taken (if any). Materials and Methods: All freshly diagnosed cases of Hansen's disease were studied for 3 months. At baseline, demographic data (age, sex), skin biopsy, slit skin smear and G6PD were taken. Haemoglobin (Hb), serum glutamate oxaloacetate transferase (SGOT), serum glutamate pyruvate transferase (SGPT), serum bilirubin, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), reticulocyte count, peripheral blood smear (PBS) along with clinical photography was done at baseline, 1, 2 and 3 months. Results: Out of the 48 patients who completed the study: Mean Hb (g/dL) decreased from 13.37 at baseline to a minimum of 12.08 at 2 months, and then increased to 12.34 at 3 months. Of 42 patients (87.5%) with a fall in Hb, 13 (27.1%) had severe (fall >20%), 17 (35.4%) had moderate (fall 10--20%), 12 (25%) had mild fall (fall <10%) and in 6 (12.5%), there was no haemolysis. Reticulocyte count, LDH, SGOT and SGPT were significantly associated with haemolysis. Severe haemolysis occurred more frequently in the lepromatous spectrum. Conclusion: Dapsone causes maximal fall of hemoglobin by 1.29 g/dl at two months following which it increases. The fall of hemoglobin is reversible and hemoglobin starts to increase by 3 months of therapy making cessation of the drug unnecessary in most of the patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Psoriasis is a common skin disorder affecting approximately 1% of the general population. The treatment of psoriasis depends on the body surface area involvement, quality of life impairment and associated co-morbidities. Special population comprising of pregnant women, lactating mothers, elderly individuals and children, is more vulnerable. They are not included in drug trials; rendering the data for use of systemic treatment scant and is mainly based on anecdotal evidence. In this narrative review, we discuss systemic treatment options in this special population. Though couples planning a family are not considered a special population, they form a subset that require special therapeutic consideration and have also been included in this review. Abstract

Retailers offer many in-store promotions to increase sales. In-store price promotions, and especially, multiunit discounts, are common across retail settings. The purpose of this research is to propose and test the impact of a prevalent, but unexamined, multiunit promotional frame (discount with "must buy X") on consumers' perceptions of value and purchase intention. We argue that a promotional frame that explicitly mandates the minimum purchase quantity that consumers need to buy to avail of the promotion is perceived unfavorably by consumers. As an alternative to this restrictive promotional frame, we propose the economically equivalent but differently framed promotion (discount with "bundle of X"). Our findings show that, compared to the restrictively framed promotion ("must buy"), a promotion framed as a "bundle" leads to lower promotion-induced reactance, and thereby, higher perceived value, and higher purchase intention. 23. Pustular psoriasis: A distinct aetiopathogenic and clinical entity.

Abstract

Pustular psoriasis is a distinct subset of psoriasis that presents with involvement of the skin in the form of sterile pustules along with systemic manifestations. Though it has been conventionally grouped under the umbrella of psoriasis, recent research has shed light on its pathogenetic mechanisms associated with the IL-36 pathway, which is distinct from conventional psoriasis. Pustular psoriasis in itself is a heterogeneous entity consisting of various subtypes, including generalised, localised, acute, and chronic forms. There is confusion regarding its current classification as entities like deficiency of IL-36 antagonist (DITRA) which are closely related to pustular psoriasis both in their pathogenetic mechanism and its clinical manifestations, are not included under pustular psoriasis. Entities like palmoplantar pustulosis, which presents with similar clinical features but is pathogenetically distinct from other forms of pustular psoriasis, are included under this condition. Management of pustular psoriasis depends upon its severity; while some of the localised variants can be managed with topical therapy alone, the generalised variants like Von Zumbusch disease and impetigo herpetiformis may need intensive care unit admission and tailor-made treatment protocols. The advent of newer biologics and better insight into the pathogenesis of pustular psoriasis has opened the way for newer therapies, including tumour necrosis factor-alpha inhibitors, interleukin-1 inhibitors, interleukin-17 inhibitors, and granulocyte monocyte apheresis. It continues to be an enigma whether pustular psoriasis is actually a variant of psoriasis or an entirely different disease entity, though we feel that it is an entirely different disease process. To accurately and economically monitor agronomic data one of the approaches that may be employed was image processing. In recent years, optical sensors, including hyper spectral and consumer-grade cameras, have been rapidly developed these days in order to provide the best possible picture quality. Abstract

The fight during pandemic has been very difficult, and the only effective prevention was to maintain Social Distancing. Maintaining social distancing allowed the disease to spread at a slower rate. Social Distancingis basically meant for people to avoid contact and interaction in public. Even in the past Artificial Intelligence proved to give some promising results to avoid common life problems. The desired prototype will be provided with some detailed information on using python, CV, deep learning to keep a check on people and their distancing. In order to maintain social distancing on streets this tool will be subjected, thus it will allow a safe distance between people. Observing People at work environments, processing plants, shops we can coordinate this device to theirsurveillance camera frameworks and can screen whether individuals are maintaining a protected separation fromone another or not.
